The 2024 United States Senate election in Vermont was held on November 5, 2024, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of Vermont. Primary elections took place on August 13, 2024.[1] Incumbent three-term Senator Bernie Sanders, an Independent who caucuses with the Democratic Party, was re-elected with 67% of the vote in 2018.
Sanders filed paperwork to run for re-election in 2019. On January 8, 2024, he stated he would decide whether or not to seek re-election in the "near future".[2] On May 6, Sanders formally announced that he will run for re-election.[3] He faced Republican businessman and 2022 Senate nominee Gerald Malloy.
