On 20 May 2023, the New Zealand Women in Architecture WikiProject and the University of Auckland are collaborating on an edit-a-thon focusing on improving content on New Zealand women in architecture.

Auckland War Memorial Museum is hosting an in-person edit-a-thon for the event, at the same time as an online edit-a-thon for participants across Aotearoa and abroad, and an in-person event in Dunedin hosted by User:DrThneed.

Auckland in-person Women in Architecture Edit-a-thon 20 May 2023

  • Date: Saturday 20 May 2023
  • Official start: 1:00PM (lunch provided from 12:00PM - meet Museum staff at the Auckland Museum Library, Level 2 near Robin Morrison Road Trip exhibition, to be taken to the lunch venue)
  • Location: Research Library at Auckland Museum, on Level 2 at the south end of the building

Suggested activities

  • Join the A+W NZ WikiProject Walking Tour & Edit-a-thon from 10:00AM, photographing notable buildings and design features in the central city associated with women in architecture
  • Create articles for women on the suggested article list
  • Add sources to pages that already exist on New Zealand women architects
  • Add content from Elizabeth Cox, ed. (2022). Making Space: A History of New Zealand Women in Architecture. Auckland: Massey University Press. ISBN 978-1-99-101634-8. OCLC 1347021085. OL 39960346M. Wikidata Q117788223.
  • Create Wikidata items for notable New Zealand women architects, or for notable buildings designed by women
  • Enrol in the Dashboard, which will track edits made during the edit-a-thon

Meetup Code of Conduct

All attendees are expected to understand and abide by the Draft Universal Code of Conduct for the Wikimedia Movement. No food is to be taken through the galleries or into the Library, only water in bottles may be consumed in the space. A light lunch will be provided in a separate room. Please bring your own device with you, there are power outlets in the library if you would also like to bring your charger.
