West Coast Stories Online meetup
[edit]- History Room, Westland District Library, 20 Sewell St, Hokitika
- Saturday 31 July 2021
- 1:00–4:00 pm
- Tea, coffee, and biscuits supplied. Feel free to drop for any part of the time.
This is a meetup for volunteers who want to get advice, collaborate, and help others tell West Coast stories online. Editing Wikipedia, WikiCommons, and Wikidata is great fun and socially worthy; while there's enormous amounts of advice and information available online on how to do it, nothing beats chatting with other human beings and getting some help and inspiration. We want to get West Coast people empowered to tell their own stories, and for this we need a support structure and access to expertise and resources. These meetups are part of that. Other projects supported are Find A Grave and Google Maps photography, Wikisource book proofreading, and publishing original research on West Coast history.
