Meetup Code of Conduct
[edit]All attendees are expected to understand and abide by the Draft Universal Code of Conduct for the Wikimedia Movement.
Meeting online allows our community who do not find the inner city very accessible, or who may have other commitments, to be able to join in on the joy of Wiki editing with the wider group of Auckland-based editors. We also welcome any out-of-town editors who wish to come along.
When joining the meetup, it is recommended to join with your Wikipedia username for minute-keeping purposes, and feel free to add your IRL name in brackets (or not, should you wish to keep your anonymity). Please also mark your attendance on the meet up page below by adding three * ~~~ under the attending section.
In the same spirit as an in-person meetup, chatting and discussing projects is much nicer when it is face-to-face: with this in mind we would appreciate if cameras are kept on, however if your internet connection does not allow it please just leave a note explaining so in the chat. Mics are to be kept on mute unless called upon by the person chairing the meeting during the round robin section of the meetup, although if you have a question you are welcome to raise a hand or politely interject should discussion be encouraged by the speaker. The chat on Jitsi may be used to share URLs and contribute other commentary while the discussions are occurring. The facilitators may take a copy to help with writing up outcomes from the meeting on the meeting Wikipedia page. Any copies will be deleted once outcomes and notes are completed.
Everyone participating is joining with different interests, skill levels and backgrounds. Never assume your knowledge is known by everyone, and don't be shy to ask questions when something is unclear to you. We are all here to learn and grow as editors, and we will treat each other with kindness and patience during these sessions.

6. Review of questions raised during round table (cont.)
7. Get on with problem solving, editing, and chatting
- Susan Tol is working on The Whale Rider (novel) article, and wishing to expand the plot description raised the topic of being able to reference a text or medium itself. Prosperosity believes that to be acceptable practice, and quick summary is fine under original research rules.
- Prosperosity gave an update after attending 2023 March WikiCon Wellington, stating it was a great opportunity for learning and connecting with other editors. Is also keen to start working on some items for Wikisource as a relative newbie for Wikisource. Susan Tol is keen for Prosperosity to share learnings from this experiment. Something that came away from the WikiCon is https://wikishootme.toolforge.org/, this tool creates a map that you can use on both a pc and a phone that shows all the Wikidata items in the area, it can find images in commons, and can also search on Flickr, Marty has been going through and trying to fix up the geocoordinates for many places.
- Paora Mainly working on “gardening”, has been dipping into editing regarding NZ athletics championships - completing navboxes for events and adding those to subjects pages where individuals had previously won NZ challenges, there are also a few women’s fields events without navboxes that need doing. *Paora is particularly noticing women's sport pages have been neglected in Wikipedia. Someone in NZ is also going to turn 100 in a couple of weeks - Russell Stone, a historian at the University of Auckland, may be good to make a page. Jetaynz mentioned Russel is one of the few NZ historians that has written consistently about the history of Auckland, could be a good themed editathon exercise for later on in the year? Paora uses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:PetScan to find NZ Centenarian, searching in categories (births, living people, people from NZ / NZ people then put a pipe and then 10, do intersection) also a good way to find people who have died and if nobody has picked it up yet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:New_Zealand_centenarians.
- Jetaynz continuing work on NZ History Curriculum project.
- Dactylantha continuing learning on wikidata, has been working through living and fossil taxa named after Lucy Cranwell and will be soon working through her publications.
