[edit]Under Alert Level 1 the group meet at the He Matapihi Molesworth Library within the National Library. This is a Wellington City Council pop up public library. It was formerly The National Library net.work space. Drinks are permitted in the library.

Meetup Code of Conduct and Anonymity when Meeting Via Video Conference
[edit]All attendees are expected to understand and abide by the Draft Universal Code of Conduct for the Wikimedia Movement.
The video conferencing meetup is a replacement for the in-person meetup. While attending and remaining anonymous is supported by the group, lurking is not supported and will be actively discouraged. All attendees are expected to use their User name as an identifier on the video conference call and to introduce themselves and their interest in joining the call on the chat channel of the call as a minimum. Participation using video and / or voice in addition to Chat is encouraged but not required.
Some members of the group have been the target of cyber bullying in the past and these measures are intended to support creating a safe space for collaboration.
If a new attendee joins the group with video and voice disabled, they will be encouraged to participate by the facilitator, using this script:
- Welcome new attendee. This group respects your right to remain anonymous. This group has a policy of discouraging lurking as it makes some of us uncomfortable. If you are happy to introduce yourself over voice, please let us know what you've been working on and if you need help with any editing issues.
- If you're not comfortable updating the group by voice, then that's okay. You have the option of introducing yourself and adding your user page link in the chat feature. The chat is deleted once the video conference finishes.
- If you want to remain completely anonymous and not chat, then this meetup is not for you. We make comprehensive and extensive notes of the meetup that will be included in the meetup page afterwards. That's the best way to catch up with what this meetup has been doing if you don't want to contribute during the video call.
- If you're not sure how to use the chat feature you can access it by clicking on the icon that looks like a speech bubble in the bottom left corner.
If, after an appropriate length of time, the new attendee does not participate by video, voice, or chat, the facilitator of the group will remove the attendee from the video call.
If the new attendee persists in logging in, the group will discuss abandoning the meet up.

[edit]Agenda and Notes from Meeting
[edit]1. Introduction to meet up by organisers (if there are any newbies joining us)
2. Progress on Action Points
- In person meet up in Aotearoa 2021 update.
- Hokitika is looking good for late March. Still waiting to hear from Giantflightlessbirds about venue before confirming exact dates.
- Auckland Museum is enthusiastic but still to confirm dates
- Wellington Victoria University is interested but dates will rely on Auckland Museum confirmation. See the Wikimedia User Group of Aotearoa New Zealand page for more information.
- Wikimedia User Group of Aotearoa New Zealand Draft annual report 2020 Reminder to add activities
- Noracrentiss updated the meetup about the online trial of editor support sessions. One new and one experienced editor came to the last meeting as well as a number of more experienced members.
3. Meetup schedule for 19 December and 16 January
- Discussion on holiday season and when meetups should continue. Decision is that we will keep both dates and continue to meet as normal.
4. Proposal for next year. Ambrosia10 (talk) was wondering whether the group would have any appetite for working collaboratively on getting a particular article up to Featured Article status. See Featured articles for more information. A group of editors did this for the Kate Shepard article a few years ago. If we are keen as a group perhaps suggestions of articles and day it could be featured? The Wellington article and Wellington anniversary might be an option? However we need to consider lead time and the amount of work this will require. Ambrosia10 (talk)
- Group generally positive.
- Options for page selection included looking at Wellington tourism destinations, or the Wellington article because we live here, InternetNZ because of the support they've given to the User group. Group decided on the InternetNZ page.
- Here are the assessment criteria for articles with editing suggestions.
- Here is some information on assessing articles.
- Action point: book a half hour at the January meeting to review the article. Group members to look at article as homework.
5. Round table for participants to say what you’re working on and if you need help to do anything or want anything demonstrated - You can add requests for help here prior to the meeting if you want
- Quilt Phase Contributed to the online editor support session. Talked about his sandbox and group showed him how to create sub sandbox pages.
- David Nind Working on putting New Zealand libraries into Wikidata. Talked about wikidata and difference between the building and the Gallery, Library, Archive, Museum (GLAM) organisation. Ambrosia10 uses "different from" and the description to make the relationship very clear and different concepts.
- Noracrentiss Pursuing Emily McWilliam, the first New Zealand woman to get a divorce. Otaki Historical Society and Museum have useful collections. Page needs to be created for the Museum. Otaki Historical Society journals are excellent resources and copies are lodged at the National Library.
- Ambrosia10 has been working on the Sum of All Paintings project. In particular the Sarjeant Art Gallery paintings collection. Described the complex workflow including uploading public domain images into WIkimedia commons, google spreadsheet creation, data cleaning via Open Refine the creating Wikidata compatible schema to upload data to Wikidata via OpenRefine Wikidata enpoint.
- Einebillion working on the wiki-con weekend for Auckland next years, updating pages for the two NZ meet ups, and working on mix'n'match for Wikidata.
6. Review of questions raised during round table
- Discussed how to respond to messages posted on your User Talk page. Best way is to respond on your talk page and use signature to record the date of response. Can be contacted using 'Email this user', but should only use if you are happy to share your email address.
7. Wiki News - add any news from the wider Wiki movement the group may be unaware of
7. Demonstration of another tool
- Not so much a tool as a project - Ambrosia10 (talk) to discuss Sum of All Paintings and particularly it's coverage of New Zealand
8. Get on with problem solving, editing, and chatting
