A tag has been placed on Mesozoic mammals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Merge into Evolution of mammals no additional content or sources provided that make the topic worthy of it's own page

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Ranks in taxonomy templates

[edit]

Hi, firstly ranks in taxonomy templates (i.e. pages with names beginning "Template:Taxonomy/") must be in Latin (e.g. "ordo" not "order", "superordo" not "superorder", "familia" not "family").

Secondly, the ranks in a complete classification must be consistent. Thus the rank at Template:Taxonomy/Docodonta cannot be changed to "ordo" while there are three ranks below the level of order above it – look at the table on the right of the page. The order in this classification is Therapsida, as per Therapsid#Classification.

I have no view on the correctness of any of these ranks; just that they must be self-consistent and based on reliable sources. If you want to make such changes, please discuss them first, e.g. at WT:WikiProject Animals. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:50, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Another option is to set the parent of Docodonta at Template:Taxonomy/Docodonta to "Mammaliaformes/skip". This has been provided specifically to allow mammals to be classified in a different and inconsistent way to other vertebrates, including dinosaurs. WT:WikiProject Palaeontology is a good place to ask about dealing with inconsistent classifications of extinct vertebrates. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:57, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited New Red Sandstone, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Elgin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Dear GiantScienceLady, thank you for your expert contributions to Wikipedia's rather lacklustre coverage of early mammals, as a professional academic on the subject you can provide insight that most other editors cannot. Keep up the good work! Hemiauchenia (talk) 17:16, 6 September 2018 (UTC) |}[reply]

A page you started (Christine Janis) has been reviewed!

[edit]

Thanks for creating Christine Janis, GiantScienceLady!

Wikipedia editor Animalparty just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Beware of vague, subjective, promotional, and/or opinionated language like "major contributions" and "top palaeontologists" per WP:PUFFERY. Let Janis' accomplishments speak for themselves. Also, neutral encyclopedia articles should generally not resemble CVs or faculty profile pages: lists of affiliations and accomplishments are often better discussed in prose. Lastly, primary sources (e.g. articles by Janis) should be used sparingly and with caution per WP:PRIMARY.

To reply, leave a comment on Animalparty's talk page.

Images of Borealestes

[edit]

I think huge congratulations are in order for you and your colleagues for your study on the newly described cranial remains of Borealestes. I was wondering as lead author if you would be able to license an image of it under a compatible (CC-BY or CC-BY-SA) creative commons license, so that it could be used in the article? Thanks again for your contributions on Wikipedia. Kind Regards Hemiauchenia (talk) 12:33, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Meetups

[edit]

Kia ora. Good work on Waipara Greensand. I'm assuming you are a Kiwi editor. Are you aware that there are lots of meetups where you can rub shoulders with other editors, swap tricks, learn from others, etc? Here's a template with details. Schwede66 09:33, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
