[edit]

@User:Graeme Bartlett Hi Graeme, thank you for accepting my page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cinnamycin but I found still my page is not available to public and wondering why. Help much appreciated. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ediri424 (talkcontribs) 01:26, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ediri424: see Cinnamycin it is patrolled and visible to the public. Indexing by search engines is allowed. Google search does not seem to have identified it yet, but it is up to them what they do and how speedily. Bing has indexed it: https://www.bing.com/search?q=Cinnamycin Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:10, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Graeme Bartlett Hi, I fixed the issues you mentioned for my draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cinnamycin. Looking forward to your response. Thanks

Draft:Way.com

[edit]

Hi Graeme.

You recently undeleted this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_undeletion#Draft%3AWay.com and I started working on a draft based on this https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Business_and_economics/Companies/T-Z&stable=0#W. Can you have a look at it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Way.com? Provide any editing advice, help and image upload help, etc before I submit it for review?

Request of restoration of draft:Engr Babalola Olatunji

[edit]

Hello please i am contacting you in regard of two things, first my userpage Tommygogd that was brought down and my first draft article Draft:Engr Babalola Olatunji this article was done neutrally , and i have been told to do declare a conflict of interest on my user page which i did, i do not understand why the article was brought down and also my page, this is my first article ever and i am doing this on a neutral point , is it possible for a person who does not have any contribution or whatsover to be paid for creating article, please i am pleading kindly restore the page so i can add more citation or for other contributor to be able to contribute to it , i am already getting discouraged because this is my first contribution and i have put so much effort in it than to be deleted, even if i am not given the priviledge to edit it , at least other contributor can for the sake of my effort.Tommygogd (talk). and if not please kindly restore to my userspace so i can continue to use it to pratice. but I wish you know this can make some of us trying to put effort in Wikipedia sad.

@Tommygogd: I restored the draft Draft:Babalola Olatunji because I failed to notice that it had previously been deleted by Anthony Bradbury as advertising. I see that you have asked Anthony Bradbury for restore. So that is the appropriate procedure. If you rewrite, to improve the tone - do not include text like: "a popular news post", "furthered his career". Also leave off the training courses attended, as that is for a curriculum vitae. Also biographical details such as family should be properly referenced, otherwise it suggests that you know the person and my be outing previously unpublished information. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Graeme Bartlett: Thanks a lot, you are the most intelligent ones out of all the people that has been denying my post all this while , your explanation and guidline now makes me know all the mistake i made in the article , i cant thank you enought for this insight , because i still wondered what i did wrong in the article , thanks a lot Graeme Bartlett God bless you for this little kinded Tips you gave me , please kindly help me request that Anthony Bradbury restore the draft if you can because he has not responded to me please i will be so glad. i will also do all this information you gave me now and clean up the article better with this guideline Tommygogd (talk) Tommygogd (talk) 22:40, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Graeme Bartlett: hi , i have messaged Anthony Bradbury but he has not replied or even do anything on my comment on his talk page , and according to the wikipedia rules i guess any one of the admin can undo whatever other admin do if you see reason to, please kindly help in restoring my user page and this article if you can please, i dont want to start the article from scratch again after so much work i had put into this, i just want to take my time and edit the article properly till i get it right , then i can now be contributing more to wikipedia on my own without stress , if i have to start all over again i might still make mistake but my previous version will allow me to make corrections and see where my mistakes are because of next time, i am using this to learn and to contribute to wikipedia. thanks , i will be very glad if you can do something about it Tommygogd (talk) 20:36, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would not normally reverse the actions of another administrator outside the policy reasons. I might do so if the action was obviously a mistake. WP:DRV is for the situation you have, where the administrator does not respond. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:27, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request to draftify some Kirby pages for transwikiing

[edit]

This is for the Kirby franchise strategy guide wikibook. The pages I'm requesting are: Warpstar, List of Kirby powers, Green Greens, and Fountain of Dreams (Kirby). There's also Pop Star (Kirby series), which has deleted page history from before it was recreated as a redirect. 2005-Fan (talk) 13:28, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request to Undelete Lillee Jean a/k/a Lillee Jean Trueman

[edit]

Any hope of restoring the wonderful work you were doing on https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft_talk:Lillee_Jean_Trueman&action=edit&redlink=1 - she has alot of news worthy articles on her advocacy for cyberbullying (something she is invested in, being a victim herself), as well as environmental issues, and advocacy against anti-semitism? I know someone asked for her page to be created under her stage name Lillee Jean, but I remembered that you had an amazing draft you were working on.

What was the most complete revision of the article Blink the Mole (I think it was an article before it became a redirect)? 2005-Fan (talk) 23:37, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Blink the Mole is a fictional character from Spyro: A Hero's Tail. He was rescued from a cage in the Crocovile Swamp by Spyro.

Blink is the Professor's nephew. He loves to be underground, citing "fresh-air-a-phobia" as his reason, along with being a mole. He is a friendly character who helps Spyro defeat Red the Dragon. Blink is sometimes called "Blinky". Blink is strong and he can do punches and butt bounces. Blink has strong lasers that can defeat most enemies. If the enemies are strong, he can just simply bomb them or zap them with a laser. Blink also has first person targeting goggles, which can detect enemies and can zoom in up to five times than normal (which helps with aiming lasers as well). Blink might say things like "Can I explore below ground?" or "You know I love it down there."

Appearances

[edit]

Blink has so far only appeared in three games: Spyro A Hero's Tail, Spyro: Shadow Legacy and Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy (and Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage).

Hi. I hope you are doing well.
I was going through my old edits, and realised I had posted quite a few messages to your talkpage. When I read(ed) them again in your archives, it seems that I was kind of rude, and mean to you. Wojciech Karlowski

[edit]

Back in March you edited the article on Wojciech Karlowski, rewording a sentence that you considered puffery. It was indeed puffery, and it's not the only example in the article. On checking the history I saw that the article was created by Msciszewianka, and she has made a very high proportion of the edits. According to her user page her married name is Dorota Karlowska, a name that strongly suggests who she is married to, without proving it, of course. In the past I've seen tags on articles suggesting the creator is too closely associated with the subject, but I can't find an example now, and I don't know how to put such a tag. Do you have any advice? Incidentally, although Professor Karlowski is not totally insignificant, I'm surprised that he was considered notable enough to have his own article. Hi!

Yes, I am a native Russian speaker. I am not a professional chemisist but respect the subject starting from my classes in the school. As for my recent articles, yes, I have translated many of them from the Russian wiki and added some other info that I managed to find. I do believe that these articles need some professional review, so I am thankful that you are around to fix the mess that I my leave unchecked.

I would also like to add visuals, but I don't know whom to ask for help.

Zelda undeletion requests

[edit]

Can the page histories for both Songs from The Legend of Zelda series and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time weapons and items (I found an appropriate redirect target for both) be undeleted for inclusion into the Zelda franchise strategy guide and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time wikibook, respectively? Can Animals in The Legend of Zelda series and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker weapons and items be draftified for Zelda franchise strategy guide and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker wikibooks as well? Also, out of curiosity, what was the latest text of Rare Candy (a Pokemon item). 2005-Fan (talk) 23:21, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rare Candy is an item found in Pokémon games that is rare (as its name suggests). When used on a Pokémon, the Pokémon will gain experience and go to the next level. Rare Candies are usually found in hidden places, and because they are hard to find they are often used in the Missingno. item duplication trick for the Red and Blue versions (when a player encounters Missingno. or 'M, his or her 6th item will be duplicated). They are also often used in the Pokémon/Item Cloning Trick|Item Cloning Trick for the Gold and Silver versions ([1]). The Master Ball (the rarest item in the Pokémon series) is also often used for these tricks due to its rarity.

Atomic spectra: why no principal series article?

[edit]

Hello. I notice that you are the main author of 3 articles on atomic spectroscopy: sharp series, diffuse series and fundamental series, which gave their names to s, d and f orbitals respectively. However there seems to be no article at all on principal series, which gave its name to p orbitals. Do you know if there is any particular reason for the absence of an article on principal series, or is it just that no one happened to get around to writing one? Dirac66 (talk) 16:22, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Dirac66: The reason that I did not write it was that principal series was already existing to a redirect to an unrelated topic. I did not want to just add a useless stub. I thought about writing using the title Principal series (spectroscopy) and added it to my to-do list User:Graeme Bartlett/to do under Spectra topics. You can see the list of things I planned to write on and in the history what I actually did. But I have not done much of that list as I started on geology and now chemistry writings. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:44, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I have started a new article Principal series (spectroscopy). As for the redirect from Principal series, I have converted it into a disambiguation page, pointing both to the new spectroscopy article and to the math article where it pointed already. The reader can choose either. Dirac66 (talk) 21:59, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support on page Alkali sulfur liquid battery

[edit]

Hi Graeme, I'm Rachel the only female electrical engineer born and raised in Knoydart in Scotland. It's an isolated peninsula, which is not connected to UK's main grid. I saw this battery technology being prototype tested in Knoydart in 2014 an to be honest I have an emotional bond with this battery type as it supported and isolated island community such as ours, which was suffering from fuel poverty. I created this article after conducting lot of literature research and getting in touch with the original inventors. I would be very grateful to you if you can give me some tips to further improve this. You had commented indicating the the article reads like an advertisement. I would highly appreciate if you can indicate which parts you are concerned about, so I can improve it. I started this as a little project, so I can help wikipedia as a reviewer in the future. So this is great experience for me. I have added a problems and criticism section, which I plan to populate in next couple of weeks. Many Thanks and Thankyou very much in advance. Rachel Rachel.stop.extinction (talk) 14:15, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rachel.stop.extinction: I assume you are talking about Alkali sulfur liquid battery. Some things to think about: this is an encyclopedia, so put in there what our readers want to know. For example I want to know what substances are used in the electrodes and chemicals and their reactions. I want to know how it can respond within 1 ms to power line changes. How can it be scalable in power? How is it compare to vanadium flow batteries? Some inappropriate text is the bit on what it is "not using". Instead say what it is using. There is a theoretical energy density, but give the actual density for this implementation. "crucial to fight the present climate crisis" is puffery on at least two fronts. Most of the "Invention, awards and inventor" section is promotional in tone. It would be excessive to have that big quote from Society for the Environment, but what is actually factual in that quote should be described in the article. There is quite a lot of "according to" and x "reports". You don't need to mention that unless the statement is controversial, or is opinion. Otherwise just leave it to the reference to identify where the information came from. Also the "Edinburgh energy firm powers up with EDF in Perth innovation challenge" does not mention most of what is in the text it references. (incl 100 million tons). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:37, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Graeme Bartlett: Yes, that was the page I was referring to .Thanks so much for your comments and now it's very clear to me. I agree with all your comments. I will remove all ambiguous and unnecessary text. If you ever get a chance kindly review the page again once I notify you after the changes...Many Thanks Rachel.stop.extinction (talk) 15:10, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Graeme Bartlett: Hi Graeme, thanks again for your guidance to improve this page. I have done a research over a month and have improved the page, addressing all the points you have highlighted above. I have collected, verified and validated a range of technical information about the battery, which the inventors agreed to share with me for sharing publicly. I have removed company names and quotes from other websites. In addition I have removed everything I could think of which were promotional in tone. Would highly appreciate if could do a review and give me some feedback. No hurry and please do when you get a chance ...Many Thanks in advance . I recently had a page I was editing restored after a justified deletion. I made an edit and summited it for review. The reviewer deleted references then rejected my submission for lack of reference. The deleted references where material and pertinent to why the person was due acceptance. The reviewer unnecessarily destroyed work and now the research is lost. Please restore the page back to piror the bias rejection or if possible review the last submitted page. Thank you. SalihaRosio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SalihaRosio (talkcontribs) 23:44, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SalihaRosio: What appears to be deleted was links to Wikipedia, Wiktionary, and online dictionary, and another online encyclopedia. Since these links are just giving more info on the words you attached them to, they are not really references on The Holy Kingdom of Judah. Instead you should link to the Wikipedia page with [[ ]]. We probably don't need external dictionary links, but if the term is obscure, just explain it in your article. You can link to Slave Coast of West Africa instead of a Britannica article. Orphaned non-free image File:Room 13 cover.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Room 13 cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:41, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:DingiriBandaWijetunga 1.jpg

[edit]

Hi Graeme. I'm not quite sure what's going on at File:DingiriBandaWijetunga 1.jpg. This edit overwrote the previously uploaded non-free file with a completely different file and this edit removed the copyright license all together. It might be that the editor-in-question thinks that photos found on an official Sri Lankan government webiste are PD or otherwise freely licensed, but that's not what the source website says. Is a split needed here or can the file just be tagged with {{furd}} to get rid of the replaced version? -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:43, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

the previous image appears to be a crop of File:DingiriBandaWijetunga.jpg. So it means there are three non-free images. Two will have to be deleted. I wouldn't bother with a split, just delete.Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:52, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough and thanks for taking a look. I'll tagged the overwritten file with {{furd}}. Just for reference, there is now also File:DBW-S.jpg which is missing a rationale and is orphaned. If neither of those things are addressed, it's going to end up deleted as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:46, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:02, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

GHS phrases by module now

[edit]

I have introduced Module:GHS phrases at the backside of {{H-phrases}} and {{P-phrases}}. There should be no change wrt previous usage & behaviour: same result in the 2600 articles. Also, some new options are introduced, such as:

List all available phrases (Template:GHS phrases § Templates)
Remove formal overlappings (Template:GHS phrases § Omit Rules)
List options added like inline, bulleted (Template:GHS phrases § List options)

Some more features are under development (such as: remove doubles). Of course, you can ping me if you encounter an issue.

BTW, could you take another look at [2] (Potassium ferrioxalate)? The GHS text added does not seem to be in place. thx.

-DePiep (talk) 06:54, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DePiep: THanks for the heads up. For that Potassium_ferrioxalate I tried 501c, but it did not work - perhaps 501c is a propriety code. But there seems to be no way to add the extra text as I thought you mentioned. 501=text doesnot work as I hoped. the idea is the extra text only appears when you hover. I also included your omit rules in the javascript translator (User:Graeme Bartlett/monobook.js P-phrasefmt and H-phrasefmt) I use to make the template content from more freeform input. I am responsible for some of the duplicates, but I decided I should look at what I put in there, rather than try to automate a deduplicate. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:14, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Per the GHS setup, the codes are governed by the UN, so we can not add our own text nor propriety text. Full 2021 source is
"GHS Rev. 9" (PDF). Annex 3. 2021.{{cite web}}: CS1 maint: location (link).
This is also where the Omit Rules are from (i.e., they are formal too).
- |P264=text is not implemented yet, but anyway does not allow free text. It will only allow for substitute text like
|P264=hands into P264: "Wash ... thoroughly after handling."
- Doing duplicates is no death penalty. We have computers to resolve these. Don't worry. And: let the (future) deduplicate do the job, don't spend time on this.
- I don't understand your "more freeform input" js, but if a module adjustment is needed, I'll hear. -DePiep (talk) 07:34, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My .js lets me paste text from other reference lists, and it converts it to the | separated list for the templates to use. It strips out the H and P, but it appears that that is no longer needed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:43, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great. And: yes, H and P now preferably kept prefixed. -DePiep (talk) 08:20, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
-FYI, another new feature: input is less restricted. "bad" charaters are thrown out, whitespace is removed:
{{GHS phrases| P 2 0 1 |P#$%&3()   _21}}P201, P321

[edit]

Hi Graeme. Would you mind taking a peek at File:Chucky (Child's Play).jpg and check whether it needs a split. The file was recently over written with a different image of the same character. Thanks. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:51, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well it only needs a split if someone wants to use the old image. Otherwise it can be removed from view/deleted. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:53, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Thanks for clarifying. One possible issue though is that the older versions will eventually be deleted per WP:F5 which is almost always not an issue because the versions are essentially the same. In this case, though, the "old file" has been essentially removed and made orphaned by being replaced by a "new different file" which means most likely the original uploader isn't going to end up notified by {{Di-orphaned fair use-notice}} since bots don't tend to issue notifications for {{Orphaned non-free revisions}}. It appears from the file page's history that there might've been some other attempts at overwriting that have been reverted; so, perhaps that will happen this time around as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:23, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In Final Fantasy VI, the slave crown is a mechanical device used by the Empire to control the wearer's thoughts. GHS updates: depr old parameters?

[edit]

There are some 200 chemboxes to update (petscan, YMMV).

Would it help if I deprecate the bad parameters already? |EUClass, RPhrases, SPhrases, RSPhrases=. The articles with 'bad' input then will end up in Category:Pages using Chembox with unknown parameters (0) (with other such errors). Acceptable for some months, I guess. -DePiep (talk) 08:54, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that will help, as no one is adding these values any more. I think that we should be able to empty these out by the end of next year, and possibly within a couple of months. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:06, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK for me. BTW it's not about adding, but about listing articles that use them. Of course we have other ways to find those articles. -DePiep (talk) 11:17, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Flagging may help find empty parameters like |EUClass= as they probably wont trigger the DHS data cat. But a search with regex can probably find itGraeme Bartlett (talk) 11:26, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

G4 deletions

[edit]

Please undelete Template:R3 and Template:R4. The G4 criterion did not apply as my recreation of the page had nothing in common with the version that was previously deleted at TfD. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:48, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was a very bad idea to recreate these templates while the delete of the other Rx templates is still in progress. By having those redirect, it causes the history of many pages to show the speeddy delete notice. It would be much much better to just show a red link. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:37, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That might be a valid argument at RfD, but it doesn't make the G4 deletion any more acceptable, because redirects to speedy deletion templates and r-phrase templates have nothing in common. My reasoning for recreating them was that most speedy deletion templates have a redirect from their two-letter code when there's nothing else competing for that name. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:12, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We can now be please that where it was showing as a blue link indicated undeleted in Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Holding cell/R-phrase now has everything deleted! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:15, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
GKFX had already removed those templates from the list, so that's irrelevant. Anyway, it's clear this discussion is going nowhere, so ... * Pppery * it has begun... 21:21, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CSD deletion rationale for drafts

[edit]

Hello, Graeme,

I've started to look over expiring drafts and deleting ones that appear to be an attempt at creating a social media profile like you'd see on Facebook. They aren't article drafts in any way shape or form, but they also aren't really "advertising". They appear to be the result of a very new editor not knowing what an encyclopedia is or what it is for.

The article title is always their name and they have information like their parent's names, their high school and what they want to do after their schooling. So, they have autobiographical information like you would have on a Linked In or Facebook profile but they are often the editor's only edit on Wikipedia. So, somewhere they got the idea that they should create a personal Wikipedia page. I've marked them both as "test edits" and "promotional". If there is even a hint of an actual draft of an article, I leave it to be deleted via G13. I sincerely doubt that any of these editors will return and make a request at WP:REFUND for the return of their draft but I wanted to mention doing this to the admins who regular patrol REFUND in case you come across this combination of deletion rationales. I wish we had a CSD rationale of "attempt at a social media profile page" but we don't so this is my temporary solution. If you have strong objections to this approach, let me know. They just don't seem like pages that should be restored as regular G13s because they aren't article drafts that will ever be moved to main space.

Thanks and I hope you have a great holiday season! Liz Read! Talk! 02:54, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well this sounds also like too much information disclosure from a minor. If I notice an article on someone under 18, I will decline to restore, especially if it's an autobiography. I will treat such a G2 G11 deletion as final. Maybe even needs an oversight. Happy Christmas to you too @Liz:. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:47, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stripmarker error

[edit]

This is a minor issue, but you have made a number of recent edits with the edit summary "clean stripmarker error", such as this one. I don't understand what this means for editors. Should Template:CO2 not be used? Has it been or is it about to be deprecated? Or should it just not be used in some specific circumstances? Does the same apply to other companion templates, such as Template:CH4? — Epipelagic (talk) 00:15, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Epipelagic: These templates are currently incompatible with cite templates and are causing that stripmarker error in the references section. I have proposed that the CO2 template should not use CHEM2 template, as that is what is causing the "templatestyles stripmarker in" error. But the same issue is in all those templates like H2O H3O CH4. The discussion that triggers these edits is at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Chemistry#Help needed, so please join in. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:34, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. I'm aware these templates don't work in cite templates, but many of the reversals you made didn't involve cite templates. — Epipelagic (talk) 02:09, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I use a regular expression matcher that changes all of them. {{CO2}} to CO2. I really dislike chem2 (and chem1) because of many problems, so at any convenient opportunity I will change them to use sub mark up. If CO2 template changes to not use chem2 template, then this change will not be needed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 02:31, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article National Catholic Church of America has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Clearly fails WP:NCHURCH. No mention to be found anywhere of this denomination outside of its website; no mention in the 2009 Melton's encyclopedia of American religions or in Google books or Google scholar.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

DYK for Loess Plateau

[edit]

On 5 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Loess Plateau, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that one of the largest and thickest loess plateaus in the world is the Loess Plateau (pictured) in China? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Loess Plateau. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Loess Plateau), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Thanks @Theleekycauldron:. Should DYK for Volcanic and igneous plumbing systems which got 8480 views on 1 December 2021 be listed? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:28, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
hmm, my guess would be probably not? Just off memory, I think it got that number over a 24-hour span instead of a half-day hook, so it only counts for half the number of views per hour (the threshold is 416+23). theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/she) 09:30, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Joy Bridenbaker

[edit]

Hello, Graeme Bartlett. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Joy Bridenbaker".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 23:00, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lactates

[edit]

Hi,

I guess now the table looks pretty much overloaded with text. I know that lactic group is sometimes abbreviated as La. (CoLa, MnLa2, etc.) Maybe using it will make the table more comfortable for readers?

Cheerz! Lamro (talk) 08:29, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well La means lanthanum, so that would be confusing, but I agree there is a lot of text. Perhaps it can just list elements, with oxidation state if important - eg Fe(II). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:58, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Naval Piranha is a fictional magically empowered Piranha Plant who first appeared in the video game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island with many vines growing out of him.

Attacks and Appearances

[edit]

Naval Piranha has three attacks, the first of which is a ramming attack. In the second attack, Naval shoots Nipper spores out of his mouth which become Nippers if they touch the ground to make Yoshi's fight more difficult. For Naval's last attack, he sends his vines to attack Yoshi.

A very easy way to beat him is to have an egg, carefully aim at the piranha plant (which becomes Naval Pirahna), and destroy it. Kamek will appear, scream "OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!" and run away. You then get the key.

Naval Piranha also appears in the video game Tetris Attack, as the second of four bosses. He appeared as a villain along with Hookbill the Koopa, while Raphael Raven had turned good.

Naval Piranha is not to be confused with the Lava Piranha boss from Paper Mario, despite the two looking almost identical.

Electrokoopa credit to user:Rtkat3

[edit]

Electrokoopas are types of Koopas from Super Mario Sunshine.

They are the kind of koopa that have two electric spikes on their back. They come in different varieties: blue and red. The blue ones launch their electric shells at you, the red ones climb walls and ceilings. The best way to defeat a blue Electrokoopa is to wait for its shell to launch and stomp it. Otherwise, be in long distance and hose it down with its shell off and when the shell returns, the blue Electrokoopa will get shocked and die.

They caused a lot of trouble in Pinna Park which caused a lack of visitors. One green one slept on a door at the top of the ferris wheel causing it to spin. If you open from underneath, the green Electrokoopa will fly into the ocean.

Hookbill the Koopa credit to user:Jagresta@bigpond.net.au

[edit]

Hookbill the Koopa is a magically empowered Koopa Troopa, and the final boss of World 4 in the video game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. His name stems from his large hookbill jaw, hence the name.

Attacks and Appearances

[edit]

To defeat Hookbill, one must pelt him with eggs until he falls over, and then pound under his belly. This must be done three times to win the battle. Hookbill has several different attacks. First, he will crawl to you on all fours, causing you to drop Baby Mario if he touches you. When you pound his stomach, he will withdraw into his shell and start bouncing around before proceeding to his next attack. After being wounded once, he gets up on two legs and starts running, again causing you to lose control of Baby Mario if he comes in contact with you. For his final attack, he will jump and attempt to body slam you. Once Hookbill is defeated, he falls off of the edge.

Hookbill appears in Tetris Attack as the first of the four bosses, along with Naval Piranha, while Raphael Raven became a hero instead of a villain.

Fierce Deity's Mask credit 68.210.248.127; 81.152.83.56; Red Phoenix (usurped); Chris Russo

[edit]

The Fierce Deity's Mask is a fictional mask in the video game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It is the most powerful and final mask that can be collected in the game.

This mask is that of a warrior god, and has an unknown past. In the Japanese version of the game, it is referred to as the mask of an ogre god; while the name 'Oni Link', derived from this, is a fanon term for Link's transformation at this point, there is no similar reference in the English versions of the game. When Link is on the moon, he is met by four moon kids. Link gives his twenty normal masks to these four, and then meets a fifth moon kid. When the fifth one sees that Link has no masks, he offers to give Link a powerful mask: Fierce Deity's Mask. The powers of this mask are rumored to be as horrible as those of Majora's Mask, and when Link puts it on he grows into a large being resembling the adult Link from Ocarina of Time, but with a bluish-silver tunic, no pupils, and a giant, double-helix, two-handed sword. This sword can shoot magic orbs and is very useful against the three forms of Majora. It is equally effective against the other bosses in game, but cannot be used any further than the boss battles. Link's Fierce Deity form is considered to be the most powerful form that he has ever taken so far, while at the same time, his most mysterious form.

Cataquack credit: 62.195.1.136 and Rtkat3

[edit]

Cataquacks are creatures from the game Super Mario Sunshine.

They appear at Gelato Beach where they are an irritating pest. Once spotted, they follow you around until they throw you high into the air. A fun way to beat them is to lure one, and then run to a tree and quickly climb in it. The cataquack will slam headfirst into the tree and will immediately be capsized. Only the red cataquacks damage you. If you lure a Cataquack to a sand bud and capsize it followed by your watering of the sand bud, it will fly into the air, and die landing on it's back (It turns to sand upon impact).

In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, the Cataquacks are obstacles in the Peach Beach course and they'll flip you in the air. They can be capsized by a powerful weapon.

WP:AFC Helper News

[edit]

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. thank you for add (chemspider) to 29-Norlanosterol

[edit]

BTW, Norcycloartenol is reffered "31-norcycloartenol" in some paper[1][2] or "29-norcycloartenol" in othor paper[3][4] (SAME chemical), the reason is that zoology and botany are different in numbering of steroids side chain, 241 to 28, 242 to 29, can we just use Norcycloartenol as wiki article title if there is no ambiguations like 19-Norlanosterol to 29-Norlanosterol--Htmlzycq (talk) 14:03, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you can use a name like "Norcycloartenol". If that is the usual name for the substance then we can use it for a title. It may need an explanation in the lead if there are other substances that might use the name too. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:42, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I see on your user page that you use JSTOR and I'd like to know more about your experience. By my calculations, a good 70 % of the main JSTOR content is now available for everyone at Internet Archive Scholar, with full text search provided e.g. at https://scholar.archive.org/ . The service is still in beta, but I've used it for some source-finding and it seems quite usable to me; I wonder whether that's just my experience. If you have a chance, the next time you'd be looking for a source on Google Scholar or JSTOR or similar, to perform the same search on IA scholar instead, I'd be curious to hear how it ends up. Vandalism at Edit filter/False positives/Reports

[edit]

Hi, I've noticed a vandal IP 2001:8003:2225:9501:6562:6C0C:D657:390D vandalised the Edit filter/False positives/Reports page, the thing is that they did it at such a time (or in such a way) that led the bot to archive a vandalised report by someone else, and now I'm not sure how to reverse it.

Can you revert it, or instruct me in how to? I'm not sure if reverting both that page and the archive has any consequences for the bots.

Thank you – 2804:F14:C060:8A01:44CA:6E00:BBE0:33A (talk) 08:54, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like edits were reverted already. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:09, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but what I meant is that this was archived by the bot after the IP I linked edited it, only their last contribution/vandalism was reverted and I'm really not sure if reverting the vandalised report in the archive (basically deleting it) and then reverting the active reports to before they were vandalised will not accidentally cause the bot to do something unexpected. – 2804:F14:C060:8A01:44CA:6E00:BBE0:33A (talk) 09:34, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite Protection on Sing 2 Was Fine

[edit]

Hello. I was fine if you protected Sing 2 indefinitely, without a date selected. There's been a lot of persistent disruptive editing going on in that page. I think it's better if it was protected until its previous date, which you selected indefinite. Also when all that is finished, don't forget to add {{pp-protected}}. Thanks. 2601:204:203:5110:EC57:FF5B:301:C9F3 (talk) 16:52, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite was an accident as I changed the number in the wrong box on my protect page. I am hoping a bot will add protection templates! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:21, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, about the bot (MusikBot II), the owner of it is currently attempting to migrate it to ToolForge, and is therefore partially down from time to time, and I'm not sure when its coming back (Im currently having to sort the removal side of pp templates myself, no way i can also keep up with new protections of pages). For now, if you protect a page, please also add the template yourself, so the bot has less catch-up once its back. Aidan9382 (talk) 09:44, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well between you and MusikBot II, all but one were tagged, so I have now applied the silver lock to the last one. So MusikBot II is more able than we thought. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:01, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks for frequently handling my REFUNDs - I really appreciate it. I am coming directly to your talk page to ask about File:Mercy for Animals logo.svg. The current logo is clearly {{PD-textlogo}}, but one of the upload comments states that the company has changed their logo. I don't feel like REFUND is the correct venue to request this. For all I know, the previous revisions are nonfree in which case this undeletion request is definitely not "uncontroversial". Would you be able to make that judgement call/undelete the revisions if they can be? Thank you so much! HouseBlastertalk 15:36, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can ask at WP:REFUND as long as you can tolerate a "not done" answer! In this case one upload was PD, but the earliest one was the logo you see here: https://www.openphilanthropy.org/focus/us-policy/farm-animal-welfare/mercy-animals-international-cage-free-advocacy (chicken rabbit fish) which I would count as copyright applicable. Purshottam Lal Page Restore Request

[edit]

Subject: Request for review of the deletion decision dated 26 April 2022 of Mr Sandstein- Case of Purshottam Lal

Dear Reviewing Authority,

(1) The Article on me - Purshottam Lal- created by Ms Sneha and approved by Wikipedia for publication on 27 January 2022 was deleted under the orders of Mr Sandstein ( herein after referred to as the  deleting administrator , or DA in short)  dated 26 April 2022 following a deletion discussion lasting 2 weeks. The final order said that  there was lack of notability and not enough secondary sources.

(2) Normally, the creator of the page-Ms Sneha-should have made the review petition. However, since she is blocked for reasons presumably nothing to do with the  Article on me, she cannot communicate , and hence this review request by me.

(3) As per advice on Wikipedia site , I first took up the matter with the DA  and sent him a note on 20th May  2022 on his Talk Page. He very kindly responded and wrote  : "Mr. Lal, consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Purshottam Lal was that there is not enough significant coverage about you in reliable secondary sources that are independent of you. That is needed for an article about you. Could you please read our guideline page WP:BIO and then tell me what the three best pieces of such coverage about you are? Sandstein 17:23, 20 May 2022 (UTC)"

(4) Thus, in his response, he did not mention the " notability " aspect which was the main reason for deletion.

(5) Since three independent References had been asked for and since most of my work as a writer and as a police officer had taken place in pre-internet era, I searched for feedback and comments of READERS of my articles in the print media since 1992 ( the year I started my writing endeavour ;  more than 115 articles have  since appeared in important newspapers, and four books published , all released by two different Governors of Punjab state ), and also newspaper reports of my work as a senior police officer , and after scanning them ,  sent the same  to the DA  on 25 May 2022 in PDF format,  uploaded on Wikimedia. It , inter-alia, contained 31 feedbacks in respect of 20 articles of mine.( The link to these additiinal scanned References uploaded on  Wikimedia is as follows:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ADDITIONAL_LINKS_DGPIPSLAL.pdf).

I requested the DA  to allow me to include  these or some of them as References in the Article if more independent References were required. Similar request was made in respect of References for police work.

A synopsis of these additional References was provided to the DA  for a quick glance and the same is reproduced below for the same purpose.

I had the impression that the Wikipedia's first efforts are to retain the Article by making improvement etc if possible. However, the DA finally replied on 26 May  2022 vide  which he did not touch upon this aspect at all, and commented that the three most important References mentioned by me in the deleted Article were not sufficient to justify an Article on me.

(6) I understand AfD (Article for Deletion )is concerned with the substance of the Article whereas DR ( Deletion Review )  is concerned with  the process by which the decision was reached.

(7) The following breaches of due process took place in my case which deserve consideration .

(A) During the deletion discussion , the creator of the Article , Ms Sneha, was not allowed to participate on the ground that she had been  blocked. In fact, two posts made by her from her mobile data ( which was not blocked at that time, since only her IP address was blocked ) giving clarifications on points raised by certain esteemed members of the Wikipedia community were struck off. Thus, the creator of the Article, went totally unrepresented and unheard. This is a breach of the principles of natural justice and fair play. At least, for this case, her block should have been removed so that her view point could also have been available for consideration.

(B) Mr  Bonadea started the deletion discussion on 11 April 2022. He later blocked IPA address of Ms Sneha, creator of the Article, for the so-called sock-puppeting . When she put her viewpoints - twice- during the discussion through her mobile data, Mr Bonadea blocked her  mobile data connectivity, too. He also struck off posts so put by Ms Sneha. Thus, in this case an inevitable clash of interest took place  leading to denial of the opportunity of being heard , by virtue of both actions - deletion discussion and blocking- having been initiated /ordered  by the same party i.e. Mr Bonadea. This is against the principles of natural justice in any society/country governed by the rule of law. The blocking decision should not have been taken by Mr Bonadea as he knew that he had already  initiated the deletion discussion. He ought to have referred the blocking decision to some other Administrator. Thus, due process of fairness and unprejudiced discussion have  been violated in this case.

(C ) At least two members who participated in  the discussion majorly misread the Article. They presumed that I had been the Head of the Punjab Police Force. No such claim was made in the Article. It rather said in the Introduction : " ....retired from the rank of Director General of Police". Thus, it was the rank which was mentioned, and not the actual post. There are a few posts in the Punjab Police  , all manned by DG rank officers. Though the two gentlemen spoke in my favour, yet their impression was wrong , and I pointed it out at the very first instance to Mr Geoffrey Lane of the Wikipedia in an email dated 28 April 2022 (info-en-v@wikimedia.org) .  Such a misreading by not only these two esteemed members of the WP community but by some other participants also- like the one inquiring about the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in respect of which clarification was provided by the creator of the Article ,the same , however, having been  being struck off-  shows lack of proper understanding and appreciation of the contents of the Article  by some of the esteemed  participants. The number of participants , most of them not well-informed about the Indian system of policing except two, was also too less, about 5 or 6. This  type of discussion amounted to a process not germane to a meaningful discussion , laying too much stress on the so-called independent References which , though present among the list of References, were not found adequate by the participants and ultimately by  the DA. Instead of looking at the totality of the material available , they rather looked only at a part of it resulting in miscarriage of justice.

(D  ) The DA's  final note dated 26 May  2022 on his Talk Page says that the first two  References mentioned speak  of  my book , and not of  me. This is, to say the least, not a very correct interpretation. When somebody is talking about my book ,  he is naturally talking about me also as the book is my creation. About the third Reference, he mentioned it was by an organisation to which I belong and hence was not independent. First of all, he could not appreciate that the Reference was picked up by the creator by the  internet search and mentioned as such  just to show my qualities as a senior police officer ,  and referred to my past association with the organisation ,  and not the present one as I am no longer a member of it. Secondly, I was associated with it but had no control over it. The Reference also mentions the names of the former Governor Punjab and former Chief Secretary Punjab just to show that I was, at one time in the past,   in the category  of highly notable persons in the administration of the  Punjab government , thereby supplementing my notability.

(E  ) The DA's  final note dated 26 May 2022 is silent on the suggestion to allow, for improving the Article,  the use of  31 feedbacks provided in respect of 20 articles of mine in PDF format uploaded on Wikimedia ,   as  independent secondary sources for my writing work, which PDF file  contained some References for my police work also ( all relating to pre-internet era). Perhaps these or some of them could have been considered for addition so that the Article could have been  improved and saved , as I understand that the first endeavour of the Wikipedia , as a positive step, is to retain the Article by improving it. Pre-internet References would naturally be in paper format, and only their scanned copies can be attached. Some 58     References ( out of which some might be common to the list already in the deleted Article)  also sent for my articles and TV discusdions for possible use in improving the Article were also not touched upon by the DA in his final note of 26 May 2022. ( Please see the link and list  of  scanned References and other 58 in paragraph (5) above).

(F )  The Article was approved on 27 January 2022 by Wikipedia ( Mr John B 123- more than 1,89,000 edits and more than 248 active Articles to his credit) after satisfying about notability and References. No new facts came to light  after that. No falsity of any information was ever alleged. Hence, in the absence of any fresh material, it is not fair to declare the same Article as ineligble on grounds of lack of notability and inadequacy of References, though later the DA  in his note of 20 May 2022 on his Talk Page did not raise the issue of notability , and only of secondary independent References. Thus , there has been an apparent lack of consistency . I think an Article duly approved by an esteemed and experienced Wikipedian-Administrator  should not be put up for deletion discussion unless fresh damaging material became available.

(G )  I have suffered loss of face by the deletion effected 3 months after its publication after due approval . I am now more than 75 years of age. My endeavour to write the fifth  book- Origin of the Aryans-  which was half-way through, is stalled due to this upsetting development.

Keeping in view the totality of circumstances, it is requested that the Article may kindly be restored. It can, however, be improved by adding more References or even amending it.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely, Purshottam Lal

You have confused me with such a huge answer. That is why the request was for the three best sources. Three sources have to be reliable (so not a letter to the editor), have to be substantial (several paragraphs written on the subject), and independent (not written by the subject or their employer, or advertiser). WP:Autobiography is something to read, but it probably won't make you happy. PS your upload to commons was deleted, so we can't see it. Anyway WP:DRV is the place to contest, and please give a succinct reason to overturn the deletion. At WP:REFUND we could turn the page to a draft. But if it has been recreated many times or protected against creation, then a deletion review is best. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:46, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Normal drafts vs AFC drafts

[edit]

Hello Graeme, while declining undeletion of Draft:Atkins (album), you used the templated response that said Articles for creation is not an indefinite hosting service... while the draft was never part of AfC. Isn't the message misleading when you use it for non-AfC drafts? Jay (talk) 05:53, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is the UND template with "2nd" parameter. Perhaps we can reword this template. In this situation I probably won't examine the draft, just the history to see that nothing at all was done. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:33, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have reworded it. But now it is inappropriate for userspace drafts. There are less of those however. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:21, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Userify request

[edit]

Hello Graeme Bartlett! I want to ask whether there was any meaningful content in the now-deleted article Tista (manga). If there was any meaningful content, could you userify the article to User:Link20XX/Tista (manga) so I can improve it? If there was nothing, that's fine; it was deleted over a decade ago so I don't have any high expectations. Link20XX (talk) 17:36, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted this page as part of a set of redirects to the 9/11 victims list. I'm not sure whether there were intervening edits, but as of yesterday this wasn't a redirect - it was an article (albeit short) with references. Could you please restore this? Request for review

[edit]

Hello sir, and I hope you don't find this message to your inconvenience.

I just want to ask if you would be able to review my draft article: Draft:List of largest galaxies. An earlier version of this list has been created way back 2015, but got deleted in 2018 due to many issues regarding the authenticity of the numbers there. In my newly created draft is my attempt to revive that list and resolve those issues, but I do still need to have a second opinion from anyone regarding it. Hopefully you heed my request, especially from someone like you.

Any thoughts, criticisms, or suggestions you might raise would be gladly appreciated. Thanks! SkyFlubbler (talk) 14:30, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Surely this article can be unprotected now? It's been protected for a decade. 31.55.134.161 (talk) 16:02, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done As the article is still being heavily edited, and there are few edit requests on the talk page, and those have not been actioned. You can ask for a second official opinion at WP:RFPP. I suspect an edit war will break out over whether she is Albanian, Kosovan, or Yugoslavian. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:35, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Restore DJ Kelblizz

[edit]

Hello sir, I check that in 2019, you undeleted this page and it was deleted and protected, it was not based on A7, but it was reviewed and stay for some time before there was a nomination and people had to say there option about the subject, it was deleted because different users was trying to create without much references but now I think you can restore this page sir. Thanks a lot for always been kind Favouredprince (talk) 23:21, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the reasons why the page was deleted you could see that it should at least be unprotected so that other user could make edits to it, and more references are available which means it should be restored by you sir Favouredprince (talk) 23:27, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DJ Kelblizz, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. If you would like to create an article, please do it at Draft:DJ Kelblizz so it can be checked that no reason for deletion applies. If you disagree with protection, you should ask user talk:Sir Sputnik. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:58, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why revert?

[edit]

Hi Graeme

I was surprised by your revert[13] of my edit[14] to Hughes, Australian Capital Territory.

Your edit summary title=home is more useless than bare url makes no sense to me. The domain name is in the website parameter, so no less info is displayed to the reader. So what's the problem?

Having a cite template in place makes it easier for any editor to add a name for the website in place of the domain. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:58, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting text for Pokémart

[edit]

What was the original text for this article? 2005-Fan (talk) 13:53, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A Pokémart is a shop in the Pokémon series of video games and the anime.

In the Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald, Diamond, and Pearl versions, it is identifiable by its blue roof. In the earlier versions, it is identifiable by its sign with "MART"/"SHOP" ("SHOP" in the Japanese versions, "MART" in the English versions). These Marts contain items for the player to buy and use, such as Potions and Poké Balls. As the player progresses in the game, the better the items become, such as a Potion may be replaced by a Super Potion or a Poké Ball may be replaced by a Great Ball, a more advanced Poké Ball. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, there are two clerks. The male clerk sells specialist items for that particular city while the female clerk sells the standard range of goods except that this universal range is available in all cities and just gets updated when the protagonist reaches a new city.Cities such as Celadon City, Goldenrod City, Lilycove City and Veilstone City are renowned for their much larger Marts, which are known as Department stores. These stores have up to six floors and hold a much larger assortment of Pokémon items, even Technical Machines for teaching attacks and Poké Dolls. In Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond and Pearl these Department Stores sell Secret Base items which can then be placed into the player's Secret Base, as well as selling the usual items that any other Pokémart sells.

I think it may be above the threshold now, so I submitted it for review. Thank you Graeme Bartlett Jojoaspel (talk) 16:11, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I removed hoax, but Praxidicae was the one to decline. I will note that references have to be reliable, that means published by someone who checks facts and corrects things, and hopefully has a reputation for accuracy. This would normally include newspapers, or books or some TV shows. Also to show notability there has to be substantial coverage, , so more than a mention of a name. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:24, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Refunds

[edit]

Hi, Graeme, I hope you are well! You seem to be doing a lot of the heavy lifting at WP:REFUND, for which thank you! Can I make a sort of plea or suggestion? That before restoring a page such as this you run through the standard Terms-of-Use checks – i.e., copyvio and UPE? That particular page suffered from both. Of course in an ideal world that would have been picked up when it was created, not months later, but we don't live in an ideal world. I worry that the name of an admin in the page history might lead others to be less vigilant in these matters than they would otherwise be. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:26, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now when we restore pages they get unreviewed. For this page I have deleted it. Anyway for pages restored in draft space a good proportion of it is COI and UPE stuff. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:40, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme. While reviewing this redirect, I added the missing 'Rfrom' template. I'm not an expert on genera, please check that I have added the right cat. A full list (I think) of Rfrom cats is at Category:Redirect_templates. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:05, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Acacia is not monophiletic, you have probably even heard of Acacia! I changed it to "R from alternative name" as the redirect is a local name used by some people living in the area. THanks for the listing, as I have little idea of what to use for those R cats. R from misspelling is the one I use when I find a spelling error. I think I've heard of Acacia trees but I haven't got a clue about genera. If you are patrolling or creating redirects, there's a shorter list in Twinkle of the 100 or so most common Rcats. From that dialogue box you can also pass the page as patrolled. We might get the Rcat feature embedded into the Curation tools - one of the days. Was there any meaningful content on Mother Brain (video game character) or Mother Brain (Metroid) prior to deletion? I want to see if I can transwiki this as well, thank you 2005-Fan (talk) 21:10, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first was moved to Mother Brain (Metroid) and was only redirects, so no meaningful content. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:10, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The chembox on this article is giving a bunch of warnings about unrecognized numbers for that field. I don't see some of them in our GHS precautionary statements#Prevention precautionary statements list either. Do you have a reference for the ones you added, so I can see what they mean and update the infobox logic? DMacks (talk) 11:50, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@DMacks: I have been seeing this lately on P codes that I have been adding. I have added the GHS ref. The codes are at https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ghs/#_prec and you can see the missing ones there. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:46, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you and next steps?

[edit]

Thank you so much for restoring Manal Cali to my User space! I have completed my merge to Somalia women's national basketball team now – it was totally worth it to have the whole page back temporarily, as I could easily cut and paste an entire paragraph to perform the merge like the basic visual editor editor that I am. (Plus there was no way I would have found that source written in Somali.)

So my question now is: Now that I'm done, how do I get it deleted from my User space? Or will self-destruct if I wait long enough? (I also created a bunch of Draft pages in my User space when I didn't understand how new pages were created and had no idea what I was doing...so I'm due for a deletion of a lot clutter there as well...) Cielquiparle (talk) 23:07, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cielquiparle: to get this stuff deleted you can just ask an admin like me ( probably the best idea for this last restore) or you can tag it with {{db-u1}} (delete stuff in userspace) or {{db-u7}} (delete stuff you created). If you use AFC it will self destruct, but otherwise will hang around until timeline of the far future type events. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:14, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welton Beck deletion

[edit]

Hello, can you please let me know what the problem was? I wasn't adding any new information when I created the page, just taking a section from the page for Welton, Lincolnshire. Is there anything I can do to fix it and reinstate it? Benjamin Bryztal (talk) 09:24, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I did a copyright violation search and found extensive copying. But if it only copies Welton, Lincolnshire and that is original, then all that is required is attribution. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:01, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
However Welton, Lincolnshire appears to have more copyright infringement. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:44, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Graeme,

Can you do a history merge of Demagogue (song) and Draft:Demagogue (song)? I've only done this once and I'd prefer an admin with more experience taking care of this. In this case, an article was moved to Draft space and then a new article started on the main space title and the pages really should be combined. Some glitch with the Move tool. 4-Ohmfentanyl Help

[edit]

Hello Graeme,

I believe about two months (25 August 2022) ago you reviewed an article I was drafting about a fentanyl derivative that is among the most potent, which has been various called many things but I have been referring to it with the nomenclature 4-fluoroohmfentanyl, it is essentially ohmfentanyl with a para fluorine added to the phenethylamine ring.

Your comments were helpful, there is a shortage of sources on this substance. And yes for brevity I mostly imported the ohm fentanyl article and made edits. I'm thinking of finding as many more sources as I can on this compound in particular, even if they only reference it, clear out the old references to ohmfentanyl that are not as relevant, and re-work the text a bit to make it a shorter and more specific article to the 4 derivative. After this was done I was going to re-submit, but before I undertook this I wanted to your advisement and assessment of this plan.

Thank you for reviewing my article and I appreciate the help you have offered.

Cheers,

@Mplanine: It still looks very similar to the Ohmefentanyl page. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:02, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme. Since you closed Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 February 17#File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran.png, I'm wondering if you'd mind watching Iran national football team and File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (low res).png since an IP has tried to add the file back to the national team article. FWIW, I asked about this c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright/Archive/2022/08#Iranian national football team badge, but I never got a response; so, I just assumed that meant the logo is probably not PD. If someone wants to re-discuss this again at FFD, either to see whether there's a consensus for it to converted to PD or for using it as non-free in the team article, then that's fine. I do think, however, that a new consensus is probably needed to supersede the previous one, but you closed the discussion so perhaps you feel differently. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:04, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change of Hot Form Quench (HFQ) to Hot form quench

[edit]

Would it be possible to keep the original page title because HFQ is often used as the abbreviation for this method of forming in the sector. Having HFQ in brackets after the term will making searching for it on Wikipedia much easier. Also in published articles, Hot Form Quench has always had first letters capitalised. Hi, @AluFormer: we have a policy about this called Wikipedia:Article titles. But what I have now done is add a redirect from HFQ. File:Iranian football badge.svg

[edit]

Hi Graeme. Would you mind looking at File:Iranian football badge.svg. I’m not sure why but it was uploaded to replace File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (low res).png. The files seem to be identical except for the format and my guess is is that uploader “re-uploaded” the file because they wanted to convert it to a vector version also use it in Iran national football team. That particular non-free use, however, was discussed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 February 17#File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran.png and deemed non-NFCC compliant. I’ve removed the rationale for the team article and also removed the file from team article. The .svg looks quite good when zoomed in. So it is probably a good replacement for the .png. I'd say only use it for the federation, and not the teams. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:01, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You closed the FFD that led to the file's removal from the team articles. This is the second time a "new" file for this badge has been uploaded. Would it be OK, like before, to move {{Oldffdfull}} template to the new file's talk page? -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:06, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds OK to copy that as suffix was irrelevant to the decision. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:58, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Canon Sheehan

[edit]

I have changed the title of the bibliography in the article on Canon Sheehan of Doneraile. The author is known as Canon Sheehan and not as Fr. Sheehan. 2001:BB6:9618:E300:5D22:F6EF:FD83:17DE (talk) 13:08, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme. For some reason, I had this file on my watchlist and it showed up when the bot tagged it for speedy deletion per WP:F5. You might want to take a closer look at this because it looks like it was replaced by a file uploaded to Commons; however, that file seems to be a likely copyvio and has been tagged by someone else for speedy deletion. The Commons file was tagged by a Commons administrator who probably wouldn't have done so if the file's licensing just needed tweaking; the uploader, however, subsequently added a link to YouTube as a source. I can't get that link to work; so, I can't verify the file's licensing. If the Commons file ends up being deleted, then the non-free the bot tagged probably should be kept; so, you might want to re-add it to Bigg Boss (Malayalam TV series) until the Commons file is sorted out. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:30, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for noticing. The link should be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCCxb5brq1s ... but no evidence of it being free to use under a CC license. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:13, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking. As you state, there's nothing on the YouTube page to indicate the file's been released as licensed. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:45, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question about a draft and a page

[edit]

Hi, I see that the text of Draft:Trolls Band Together (in draft) and (article) Trolls Band Together are exactly the same, but copy pasted. From this, it seems it is an exact copy paste. Is this ok? Crafterstar (talk) 23:32, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite OK. If text is copied it must be credited because we have a CC-BY-SA licnese. so user:Clara.zz should have mentioned that the text came from Draft:Trolls Band Together either in an edit summary or by text in article or talk page. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:02, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vespa Carriola

[edit]

Hello Graeme Bartlett, I see that you deleted my April Fools' Day contribution on the "Vespa Carriola". I thought that this sort of harmless jape was in the spirt of the community and benefitted from at least some level of toleration. Would it be possible to move into some sort of "Wikipedia April Fools' Day" sub-section someplace rather than just making it vanish? I did put a fair bit of effort into the project. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 11:52, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for reinstating my little prank. I've just had a quick read through the Rules for Fools, and given that I (inadvertently) broke or severely bent two of the three top-line entries, doubly kind of you! I can no longer plead ignorance in future – which isn't usually ever an admissible defence in matters of consequence (or law) anyhow. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 13:06, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

Hello, Graeme Bartlett,

There are a group of empty categories where you removed the valid CSD C1 tag because it's claimed that CSD C1 is ineligible if a category is subject to a CFD discussion. But these categories were never tagged as being part of a CFD deletion discussion. How would any editor have known? And they still are not tagged as being part of a deletion discussion. This is a necessary step of any deletion discussion whether it's AFD, RFD, MFD or TFD. Would an article be subject to an AFD deletion discussion if there was no AFD tag on the article? And if these categories were never tagged as being part of a deletion discussion, I assume the category creators were never notified as well.

I have retagged these categories because there is no sign on the category page that they are ineligible. They will sit for another week in Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion. I assume the CFD discussion will be resolved before these 7 days have passed so there will not be an issue. But if you remove the tags again, the categories will keep appearing on our daily empty categories list, Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories, which informs editors on which categories are eligible for CSD C1 tagging so I'd like to ask you to let the tags remain on the pages unless they are replaced by the necessary CFD tag. Empty categories are rarely deleted before 7 days have passed so there is a week to get this resolved.

I've been working with empty categories since I became an admin in 2013 and I haven't run into this kind of incident before. Sometimes categories that are part of a CFD discussion appear on the empty category list but they all have been tagged to notify editors that they are part of a CFD discussion and are so ineligible. I have no idea why the nominator didn't follow procedure in this instance. Thank you for considering this request. Liz Read! Talk! 01:50, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Come on Liz, you should know better. As you or the tagger were unaware of the CFD, there was no point in complaining about the mistake. But now that you know, you should follow the "rules" and let the CFD decide. If the decision is keep they will be repopulated. And if delete, they will be deleted even more speedily. I will ask the nominator to properly tag these pages. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 02:04, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and first of all thank your undeleting page i appreciate....Draft:Michał Materla I improve and add content on draft i was wondering do you think that it could be moved to mainspace? DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 21:02, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should ask the previous deleters user talk:RHaworth or user talk:The Bushranger. I don't know about notability for these type of topics. I am quite happy for other admins to override the create protection. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:08, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay i think that RHaworth is no longer admin but other person is so i will ask....Thanks and sorry for tooking your time. DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 22:14, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for interrupting the conversation, put saw that the page for Materla had the tag "[Create=Require administrator access] (indefinite)". If I was to add to the article and make it suitable to pass notability criteria, what would be the procedure to publish it to the mainspace. HeinzMaster (talk) 03:57, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@HeinzMaster: As I said above I am willing to unprotect the page if an (AFC) reviewer thinks the page would pass an AFD. Else WP:RFP the the official page to request unprotection. After that a move could happen. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:49, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am awaiting an AFC reviewer to say it is acceptable. The last result was a decline, and since then the only changes were an image addition and AFC template removal. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:49, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
last req was decline cause that was before it was agree it was good to go and agree that @HeinzMaster (AfC reviewer) improve page and move to mainspace DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 00:53, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Only change was addition of an image. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:05, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@HeinzMaster and DarkHorseMayhe: DarkHorseMayh, pls do not remove previous Draft page submission reject message(s). Hi HeinzMaster, As per our disscussion on my talk page - see here. Once you have added required sources, then submit for review and ping me. As you are NewPage, AfC and Autopatrolled reviewer, you should know what is required for a page to meet notability giddiness. Iodine colour

Hi Graeme

Thanks for your edit to Nonmetal (chemistry).

I am given to understand that solid iodine has a silvery metallic appearance under white light at room temperature. My reference is: Koenig, S. H. OK, as I did not see what reference said. Appearance may depend on form and lighting. So since this is trying for FA, I had better check more references. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:01, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of C2S2

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on C2S2 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Drafting article for protected Post-Finasteride Syndrome page

[edit]

Hi Graeme, hope you are well-

I was looking to draft an article on Post-Finasteride Syndrome, but the existing PFS page is currently a redirect to the article for Finasteride, and is also protected. Thus I was wondering: Is it necessary to lift the protection on an article page before drafting a new version of it? And if so, would you or another administrator be willing to lift the protection?

Best, Xardwen (talk) 22:48, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Xardwen: There is no reason to stop drafting a new page. You can write at Draft:Post-finasteride syndrome. The requirements are less demanding to have a draft. Once the draft is proven to address issues raised at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Post-Finasteride Syndrome and the AN/I thread ) I assume this is about pushing particular points of view, so balanced WP:NPOV content will have to be present), then the draft can be mainspaced. You can use the old content here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Post-finasteride_syndrome&oldid=1016251604. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:59, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would consult with user:Acroterion about protection changes, as Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive1066#AlexBRN_POV_Pushing_and_Obstructive_Editing and Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/3RRArchive431#User:AntiSemanticCanard_reported_by_User:Alexbrn_(Result:_Blocked) are relevant. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:06, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I followed the Draft:Post-finasteride syndrome link, but it redirects me to the Finasteride article; is there a way around this? Apologies in advance if I'm missing something, I'm relatively new to Wikipedia.
Thanks, Xardwen (talk) 22:33, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Xardwen: Ok, the way around is to click on redirected from Draft:Post-finasteride syndrome name, and then edit the redirect, or use this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Post-finasteride_syndrome&action=edit Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:37, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Much appreciated, thank you! I also pinged user:Acroterion to let them know I was planning to write a draft.

@Graeme Bartlett I made a new draft with references in it, and I just wanted to know if you could maybe review it? Thanks. ⌬ CH₃mificαtion! ⌬ 23:56, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chemification: At the moment the draft looks like a dictionary definition, and Chlorofluorocarbon currently has more on the topic. Are you able to merge in relevant content from this article to boost it up? Perhaps some examples. Also I expected the abbreviation to be HCFC. And an alternate name is hydrochlorofluorocarbon. And see wikt:fluorochlorohydrocarbon. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:08, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of Female Clarivate Citation laureates not meeting criteria

[edit]

Hey, I saw that you changed the page for not meeting the list criteria. Since you are an administrator, I'm going to assume that your decision was correct. However, I only created the page because I saw that it was linked in red at the bottom of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_female_Nobel_laureates

Is there any reason as to why my list doesn't meet the criteria and this one does? The latter page is even a featured list. I'd just like some transparency. :) AquaAlien (talk) 02:03, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@AquaAlien: The reason for keeping it as a list will be if the content is covered in other reliable sources as a list. Otherwise it would be an original research topic if we just extracted something to make a list that no one else ever covered as a topic. If you can find several sources that cover just Female Clarivate Citation laureates, without male ones, that would justify the list as you made it. A redlink does not always have to me made! In particular a red link under a see also should really be removed if the page does not exist, as it is useless for our readers. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 02:09, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, that makes sense, thanks for clarifying. :) AquaAlien (talk) 04:22, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from Lamro

[edit]

A belated hi from Lamro,

News are coming that Wikipedia is soon to be blocked in my country, Russia. VPNs are not allowed by Wikipedia as far as I know. Probably, I will be able to read, but I will not be able to write. I have always been affraid that they will do it sooner or later. Therefore, during the last year, I have tried to contribute as much as I could because it is very important for me. The quality has suffered as a result--and I know it. But I hope others will correct my articles. I have been an active editor for 10+ years but will not be soon. Very painful to know it. Like a small death to me.

I hope one day I will return as an editor. Hope to see your feedback again.

Cheerz! Lamro (talk) 17:36, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

One workaround @Lamro: is to enable IPBE, IP block exempt on your user, then you can use a VPN to access Wikipedia, if you are logged on. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:04, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

LK-99 - Salvatore Pais connections

[edit]

Hey mate, can you go into a little more depth about what you meant when you said "Pais' patent is not supported by papers or on-line frenzy"? Much of this is admittedly above my head, but I read on WP:SEEALSO that "One purpose of "See also" links is to enable readers to explore tangentially related topics; however, articles linked should be related to the topic of the article or be in the same defining category." I would think that citing Pais' patent would make it and the LK-99 patent tangentially related topics, especially with the limited scope of room-temperature superconductor claims? Cheers! I was curious about this draft, and had meant to decline it. Obviously you disagree, which is fine. I just wanted to let you know that I've flagged it for major referencing issues 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 12:04, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This draft piqued my interest. Your stats at AFC are as follows:
Examined 2,045 reviews:
  • Accepts: 962 (93.22%)
  • Declines: 59 (5.72%)
This is interesting because they are broadly the inverse of the stats one would expect to see for an AFC Reviewer's track record. You have an enviable track record of acceptance. Obviously you are an experienced admin, so perhaps you would care to offer some commentary, please?
For reference my own stats are as follows:
Examined 4,352 reviews:
  • Accepts: 1,375 (53.50%)
  • Declines: 803 (31.25%)
My accepts are considered to be high at 53.5%, perhaps because I make it a practice to accept borderline drafts. For you to be 40 percentage points ahead of me in acceptances requires some thought.
If you are interested in running the stats tool yourself, it is at https://apersonbot.toolforge.org/afchistory/ 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 15:38, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtrent: The reason for my stats is where I get the drafts to review, mostly coming from User:AlexNewArtBot/ChemistrySearchResult‎ so they are in the field of science or scientist rather than entertainer, business, or sport related. Also I am more likely to just accept the good looking ones and leave the low grade for others to decline. In the early days of AFC I was about the only one reviewing, and I accepted anything that had a claim of importance and some kind of source. Requirements are much stricter now. Also some reviewers are much too harsh. In some cases I will get a rejected draft and move to to article space. They usually survive. In the case of Philip Agbese I confirmed the SNG requirement for politician, so it would survive AFD. And I removed some puffery. Pffery is very common! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:27, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I knew you had been around for quite some time. We are broadly of the same vintage, including AFC.
Might I make a suggestion, now that the acceptance criteria have evolved? Well, I'm going to make it anyway, though not quite sure how to phrase it.
When you get a draft that is a biography, please will you look at those far stricter criteria and consider whether you might let it pass for another reviewer, one who might be more aligned with the need for stronger referencing.
With regard to the acceptance that caught my attention, I fear it was an unusually low bar that you felt it had to leap over. As a politician it will doubtless survive, but it should not, in my opinion, have been accepted in this state 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:09, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Assaf Friedler

[edit]

Hi. You have annihilated much of fully referenced content in this entry that I've written. I'm glad to see that your initiative to delete the entry completely has not succeeded. Nevertheless, all the content is copied with permissions and consents from Prof. Friedler, which I can easily prove per demand. Please revert your edit and let this content stay. קוונטום דוץ (talk) 07:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@קוונטום דוץ: it was not me who deleted anything, but I proposed the whole article for deletion because of the extensive copying. See WP:PERMIT for how to deal with permission. Basically we need more than permission, we need proof of permission. It is best to rewrite in new words to avoid a copyright infringement. It looks like user:Vanamonde93 did the blanking. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:18, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Next time you can warn before you propose deletion. It is absolutely a noncollegial thing to do. קוונטום דוץ (talk) 09:25, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You should have received a notification on your talk page. You can use the article talk page to contest it. And user:Vanamonde93 can reverse what happened. But proof of permission will be needed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:38, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to supply this proof of permission by Prof. Friedler. To where I shall send it? קוונטום דוץ (talk) 16:28, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. The owner of the copyright should be the one giving consent. Also even if consent is given, it does not mean that the material is suitable for an encyclopedia. One thing that was removed was a list of all publications. It would be better to list important publications, with commentary by others on the work. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:41, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was not a list of all publications as you state. It proves me that you and your colleagues either rush towards deletion or definitely unfamiliar with academic publications. It was a list of the most important/notable articles of this researcher. קוונטום דוץ (talk) 06:00, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Graeme Bartlett, a few months ago, I asked you to delete the Commons file File:9Gem logo (2010-2015).png, which shows the 2010 9Gem logo, and then use that file's code to create File:9Gem logo (2010).png. Why haven’t you done this yet? Here's the original discussion for reference: Moved discussion from WP:RFU. If you don’t do this, then I will do the file making myself. However, the draft namespace, though it is intended to provide some breathing room to create and develop a page without the time pressure of immediate review, is not for the indefinite hosting of material that is unsuitable for inclusion in the article mainspace. Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for inclusion and then submit it for review—at the least, prior to another six months elapsing. When you are ready, a review can be requested by placing this code at the top of the page and then saving: {{subst:submit}}. @Crafterstar: there is only one draft name repeated above. Question about a page

[edit]

Hi,

I was wondering about Draft:The Ballad of Renegade Nell. I somehow noticed a page titled The Ballad of Renegade Nell. Originally, it was created at Draft:The Ballad Of Renegade Nell, with a capital "Of". Does not seem to be a copy paste, so should the draft be left there and eventually deleted? Crafterstar (talk) 17:38, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Crafterstar: I have redirected it to the article in case anyone improves the draft instead of the article, and any content of your draft would be incorporated on the article page. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:34, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted my edit

The information was covered under the 18 October heading. And expanded on in al-Ahli Arab Hospital explosion. Also NPOV was not adhered to, but could have been edited. Overall the article and number of references is getting too large, so we can't include every variation on what's going on. Article assessment question

[edit]

Hello Graeme,

Back in February you approved an article draft (Heterojunction solar cell) I submitted to AfC - thanks a lot for taking the time to review it, your work is much appreciated. At the time you assessed it as C class, and after making significant changes I was wondering if a reassessment and/or some feedback would be possible. I'm not sure if you're the right person to ask; I also requested a review at the Energy wikiproject but it seems that the requests there are years old. No worries at all if you're unable to or busy. Azides

[edit]

Hello! Firstly, I wanted to thank you for your help in everything you do, especially in coming behind me to tidy up Magnesium azide and Strontium azide when I was working on them. Since then, I've gone back through and added more citation depth to those stubs, which I wanted to make sure was done before making any other articles. Now this might not be a massive project by any means, but I wanted to give you a heads up that it is my intention to make another handful of these stubs in the next coming days. My estimate is about 5-7 of these, based on azides of elements from the d-block (particularly nickel, copper, mercury, and others as fit). For the most part, these stubs should already have counterparts in other language wikis, but I'll be looking everything over anyway. If it ends up being plausible, a DYK for mercury's could be in the cards, although I'll see how things turn out source-wise. I wanted to give you a heads-up as I felt you may be interested in these creations. In the meantime, the stubs should be similar in page layout compared to Magnesium azide and Strontium azide for now. Utopes (talk / cont) 13:26, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Utopes: thanks for letting me know. I will be taking a look at these once they appear as articles. And soon I will be looking at DYK too! Just make sure the DYK hook is interesting. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:24, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November Articles for creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Graeme Bartlett:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 1000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Surprising AfC

[edit]

I know it is good to remove backlog, but it is not good to approve an article such as Alain Manceau which needs a few simple tweaks. It is also not good to remove

  • Comment: relevant comments.

For instance, there are no sources to verify any of his positions, and I don't believe Wikipedia is the place for an essay on his research. Ldm1954 (talk) 20:46, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You do know about notability criteria for academics, which mostly get a free pass to enter Wikipedia? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:51, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have so far only reviewed about 50 in Wikipedia, and about 200 outside it. Most do not get a free pass, for instance ones who do not have major awards or admin posts. This means that less (perhaps far less) than 1% of academics pass WP:NACADEMIC. He is notable, but the current page is bad which is why I did not pass or fail it but asked for changes. Ldm1954 (talk) 21:12, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to look at Draft:Edward Karavakis who is almost certainly notable, and has made some needed changes (which I need to check today/tomorrow), and Richard Scheffler which needed a lot of guidance but I recently accepted. I will refrain from quoting any bad ones. Ldm1954 (talk) 21:22, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Picking your brain:

[edit]

At WP:RFU there's a request to undelete a G13 draft. Uncontroversial restore but..... the article is unsourced and is a "how to" guide for something so FRINGE it doesn't deserve to be called FRINGE. Decline under "blatant advertising"? Your thoughts are, as always, appreciated. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 01:44, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@78.26: Well if it is advertising, you could restore under G13 reversal and then delete under G11. Then others will not have to investigate deleted revision and can tell from the log. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:39, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request for assistance for disruptive and threatening user

[edit]

Hi Graeme, hope you're well, I saw your name on the list of recently active admins so wanted to reach out about an issue regarding a specifc disruptive and threatening user. CNMall41 is that person's name. That user had made a disruptive and frivolous attempt at having a newly approved article put up for deletion (AfD). That article is the one I had successfully submitted for approval and had worked on for many months, and approved by a Master Editor III after a round of improvements/reviews. That user on my own Talk page has also on multiple times written in a condescending/threatening tone and threatened to have my account blocked from editting, using phrases like "I wanted to allow you to continue" etc as though it's all up to his/her arbitrary whims that I can continue contributing to Wikipedia. Some of the reasons and in-depth explanations around the events I've written on the article deletion discussion page. Appreciate your assistance. If you have any input on the article deletion discussion that would be great too - been a very discouraging process driven by that user's petty actions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Angelswithwings (talkcontribs) 23:58, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't take a deletion nomination of an article as a personal attack. Users here should not attack each other and stick to talking about the content. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:40, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
