Sorry, maybe I misinterpreted your cn on Jim Ritcher. If you don't think Pro Football Reference is reliable source for his high school then I'll replace it with one of the other sources I found, The Orlando Sentinel, for example. If you were questioning the reliability of the source please use rather than cn next time. Thanks. Meters (talk) 00:51, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
- I may have listed the wrong paper. I user the Omaha World-Herald in Jim Ritcher (which already had the Pro Football Reference. Meters (talk) 01:04, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
- Meters, you're good. I missed the "full bio" link on the pro football reference and just did ctrl-F to search "Highland" and didn't find anything. Sorry for not being thorough. But I do think the Omaha World-Herald ref is a stronger one. Cheers. — Archer1234 (talk) 01:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Salesian College Preparatory, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Boys & Girls Club (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Nice work on the refs. I found several refs for J,D. Grey's upbringing in Paducah , and I believe this was the only high school, but still can't place him in the school. I've done what I can. It's tough to find school refs that far back. Meters (talk) 05:33, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Beth chapman Bounty Hunter
[edit]You said you removed my update but someone put her former last name as Barrymore when it’s actually Barmore. If you google Keith Barmore articles will come up saying Beth Chapman’s ex. I was just fixing it saying Barrymore since that was wrongfully inputted . To add if u look at https://www.nickiswift.com/156659/the-untold-truth-of-beth-chapman/ under the part it’s a small world after all. It says, “But before Duane entered the picture, she was married to someone else: Duane's old buddy, Keith A. Barmore. Small world, huh? “ — Preceding unsigned comment added by BayArea2018 (talk • contribs) 01:53, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, BayArea2018, it appears that you are relatively new to Wikipedia and, especially, to the use of talk pages and the use of reliable sources.
- You forgot to sign your first post on my talk page. You sign your posts by adding for tildes (
~~~~
) at the end of your text. - Because you did not sign your first post, a automated bot called SineBot detected there was no signature and added one for you using the unsigned template. So, SineBot corrected your first mistake.
- However, you compounded your first mistake in not signing your first post by editing what SineBot added by making it appear that I added your text. Do not change what others add on a talk page (see Talk page guidelines), especially to mislead readers. The text and links that SineBot added were precisely correct and needed no change to them.
- I assume, in good faith, that these mistakes were not intentional on your part. Please, however, take note not to repeat them. Note, too, that you should not change your own text if someone has already responded to it,[a] except as laid out in the editing own comments section of the talk page guidelines.
- Aside from the talk page faux pas, sources conflict about the name of Beth Chapman's ex-husband. I appreciate that you found another source (NickiSwift.com) that supports what you believe to be the truth (that his name is "Barmore"), but the Us Weekly source in the Beth Chapman article cites "Barrymore" as his name. This should be discussed on the talk page for Beth Chapman. I have already started a discussion there in which any other editor, includin you, may participate. Keep in mind, that what gets put into the article is ultimately decided by consensus there on the talk page.
- If you reply to my comment here or over on the Beth Chapman talk page, note that when you reply to another's post on a talk page, it is customary to indent your text by added a colon (
:
) at the beginging of each line of new text in your response. If you are replying to a reply, then you would add two colons (::
) instead of one, and so on. – Archer1234 (talk) 02:04, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
Notes
- ^ You didn't make that mistake, but I wanted to give you a heads-up if you wanted to respond to what I have written here in response to your post.
- Hello, Archer1234,
- Sorry about the other post as I am still learning.
- there is a yahoo article wrote by someone from entertainment tonight about duane and Beth’s marriage before she died and it lists him in it and his last name is Barmore. Also listed a entertainment tonight article that has her daughter Cecily’s name as Cecily Barmore-Chapman and is Beth’s daughter from her marriage to Keith Barmore-Chapman. Do you think these reliable sources?
BayArea2018 (talk) 02:46, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- BayArea2018, take it to the talk page for Beth Chapman. It is no longer appropriate to post about it on my talk page. Please discuss it over there, not here. – Archer1234 (talk)
- Hello, Archer1234,
Just saying thank you about the learning how to sign articles and basic wiki courtesy. Hope you have a great evening. Bye
- BayArea2018, you are welcome. There is a lot to learn about Wikipedia and I found myself making many of the same mistakes you have made. I still make lots of mistakes myself. I've made some mistakes today. None of us are immune to it. An important thing to do is to watch and listen to more experienced editors when they offer advice and learn from them.
- Note that you need to add colons (
:
) on each line of your new comments, not just the first line, to ensure they all indent properly. If you use the sharp/pound sign (#
) or the asterisk (*
) to get automatic numbering or bulleted items, you don't have to use as many colons to indent.
- Note that you need to add colons (
- Finally, I wonder if you are not using the "Show Preview" button. I'll leave a note on your talk about that.
- Have a good evening. – Archer1234 (talk) 03:30, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
A suicide attack on July 11th claimed by Islamic State (IS) near a church in the Syrian city of Qamishli shows that Christians remain a major target of the terror group. The Top 6 most popular articles about People in WikiProject Christianity were:
- Henry VIII of England – King of England, He was an accomplished musician, author, and poet; his known piece of music is "Pastime with Good Company". He is often reputed to have written "Greensleeves" but probably did not. He had six marriages.
- Elena Cornaro Piscopia – was a Venetian philosopher of noble descent who in 1678 became one of the first women to receive an academic degree from a university, and the first to receive a Doctor of Philosophy degree. In 1669, she translated the Colloquy of Christ by Carthusian monk Lanspergius from Spanish into Italian.
- Mary, Queen of Scots – arrested for Reigning While Catholic (RWC), Mary was found guilty of plotting to assassinate Elizabeth I of England in 1586, and was beheaded the following year.
- Bob Dylan – American singer-songwriter, author, and visual artist. " Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them."
- Elizabeth I of England – The Virgin Queen, Elizabeth was the last of the five monarchs of the House of Tudor who ushered in the Elizabethan Era, reversed re-establishment of Roman Catholicism by her half-sister.
- Billy Ray Cyrus – Having released 12 studio albums and 44 singles since 1992, he is best known for his number one single "Achy Breaky Heart", which became the first single ever to achieve triple Platinum status in Australia.
... that The Vision of Dorotheus is one of the earliest examples of Christian hexametric poetry?
When God Writes Your Love Story: The Ultimate Approach to Guy/Girl Relationships is a 1999 book by Eric and Leslie Ludy, an American married couple. After becoming a bestseller on the Christian book market, the book was republished in 2004 and then revised and expanded in 2009. It tells the story of the authors' first meeting, courtship, and marriage. The authors advise single people not to be physically or emotionally intimate with others, but to wait for the spouse that God has planned for them.
The book is divided into five sections and sixteen chapters. Each chapter is written from the perspective of one of the two authors; nine are by Eric, while Leslie wrote seven, as well as the introduction. The Ludys argue that one's love life should be both guided by and subordinate to one's relationship with God. Leslie writes that God offers new beginnings to formerly unchaste or sexually abused individuals.
Your deletion of sourced information
[edit]You deleted sourced information here saying it is not notable. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Louis_H._Pollak&diff=910957298&oldid=910891663
But it is notable. Because it supports the cat that says he lived there. And we don't have non-notable cats.
Why you would delete it anyway completely escapes me. That sort of information is in bios all over the Project. Consider these 355 mentions, for starters. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=%22died+in+his+home+in%22&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go&ns0=1
And the 3,000 plus here. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?sort=relevance&search=%22died+at+his+home+in%22&title=Special%3ASearch&profile=advanced&fulltext=1&advancedSearch-current=%7B%7D&ns0=1
Comment
[edit]Archer, since you may read this please do not take umbrage about my asking under what authority or knowledge base have you written the Chesley Bonestell page. Firstly, it lacks cohesion. Insofar as your deleting, temporarily or permanent, my addition to the CKB,JR. entry, are you just being self-important or pugnacious? The reason I ask is that the data I included is self-evident and, as such, is not in need of a citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randy1925 (talk • contribs) 20:42, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
Comment on Personal "attack" for August 30
[edit]Thank you for your comment and I should not have made such a personal comment. However, if you review the actions that User talk:John from Idegon has undertaken, I believe you will see that his actions are a negative impact by removing information that is relevant and important. For instance he deleted an entire section on Andover High School's radio station claiming it was unsourced, despite the WBFH stating simliar information. His election to delete things, claiming there are no sources (when the information is open and unchallenged), is damaging to Wikipedia as a resource. His actions are inappropriate and this needs to be stopped. Jakebed (talk) 00:26, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
TelleyTell (talk) 20:03, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- TelleyTell, It does not matter what you know. You have to cite a reliable source so that readers and other editors can verify the claim. Twitter and Instagram are not reliable sources. In looking at your talk page I see that other editors have cautioned you previously against adding claims with citing reliable sources. My hope is that you would have learned by now what you must do and not do.
- Have you looked for a reliable source (not social media) like reputable independent news websites to find an article that can substantiate the claim? If you find one, then you might be able to add it back in. However, be award that Wikipedia is not a chronicle of everything that a person has done (see WP:NOTNEWS), so, even if you find a reliable source to substantiate the claim, it might not be considered noteworthy enough to be included in the article.
- Finally, the edit you made was malformed in that you added invalid text in the use of the
cite news
template. You need to learn how to cite a source and now to use the "preview" button to check to be sure there are no syntax errors before you publish a change. I will leave you a separate message on your talk page about how to use the "preview" button. You should read it and follow its guidance. Good luck. – Archer1234 (talk) 20:55, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Dude, Much Love as a friend, It's all true, it's all even on www.people.com even on www.tmz.com even on her website, Kelly Clarkson herself confirmed, as did Kevin Hart himself when Rock took off from his, Rock's Honeymoon and offered to fill in for Kevin Hart amid the accident over the weekend, Reuters confirmed, so did The New York Times, and several other websites and newspapers, even TMZ confirmed on Sunday. TelleyTell (talk) 22:51, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- TelleyTell, please learn how to use talk pages. In particular, do not create a new section every time you reply to someone's comments on a talk page. Add your reply to the same section if it is on the same topic/subject (see talk page guidelines). Be sure to indent your reply one time more than the comment to which you are replying. Idents can be added by putting a colon
:
at the beginning of each paragraph (each colon counts for one indent).
- As to your sources, you are welcome to add back the claims if you cite the sources. But don't be surprised if your edits get reverted because the claims are not a notable-enough event to include, if you don't enter the sources properly, or you enter the text in a malformed format like your previous edits. It is not anyone else's job to clean up your edits. [edit]Dear Archer1234, thank you for the heads up you left on my talk page, but I wrote that down because my family, and friends have ate pongal as a snack beforeGumshoe97 (talk) 20:12, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
- Gumshoe97, Wikipedia is supposed to include only information that can be easily verified, typically by referring to reliable sources. Personal experiences (yours, mine, others) are not reliable and cannot be used unless they are documented in reliable sources (generally, secondary, independent sources). So, unfortunately, your experiences with pongal cannot stay in the article without verification to a reliable source.
- By the way, you should read the "talk page guidelines" article to understand better how to use talk pages to communicate with other editors. It is customary that when another editor puts a comment on your talk page, that you respond on your talk page (unless the editor instructs otherwise). The ensures that the conversation is kept together and not split between talk pages. Also, to start a new conversation on a new topic on a talk page, you should create a new section. At the top of the talk page is a little plus sign (+). If you click on that, you will be prompted for the subject of the new section and a separate box will appear where you can write your comment. When replying to an existing comment, do not create a new section. Instead, click on the "edit" link next to the name of the section and add your comments at the bottom. Be sure to WP:INDENT your reply. This and more is all explained in the "talk page guidelines" article.
- You are new on Wikipedia, so I strongly recommend you spend some time reading Wikipedia's policies and principles (see the links provided in the "Welcome!" section that user RegentsPark put on your talk page) and spend more time observing how other, more experienced editors make edits and handle situations where questionable edits are made. Welcome and good luck. – Archer1234 (talk) 20:50, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
- davidwr, yours was the second time it got added under "The Campus" section even though it was listed under History. It is easy to miss there (after all it is a "current event" and who would think it would be considered "history". The article needs some work partly because "The campus" section contains a hodge podge of facts, none of which appear to be directly related to the physical campus itself. The tornado event is one thing that maybe should be in that section. Thanks for your note. v/r – Archer1234 (talk) 16:31, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
In response to your message on deleting historical airline information from the Las Cruces, New Mexico Airport, my sources are from the Official Airline Guide (OAG) and from timetables issued by the airlines themselves. I hate to see this valuable historical information deleted because these sources are not recognized by Wikipedia. School infoboxes
[edit]Hi Archer1234, I've noticed you've been updating some of the US school infoboxes which is good, but there are a few issues with your edits (this also applies if you edit any other schools outside US). An example diff: Ridgefield High School (Connecticut)
- Please use the full name of the country rather than abbreviation, so United States rather than US - I've noticed you have done this on many articles — you will see that typing "US" automatically changes to display as United States after saving, and it affects the automatic description as it will say US instead of United States
- There is no need to change FTE to (FTE) — this template allows us to see which school articles have the teaching staff updated with NCES and if an FTE parameter is added to the template which there has been a past discussion on this, it will be easier to go through the completed ones and remove the template by updating the parameter
- There is no need to add an unbulleted list for the colors so they appear on the left with the color name on the right. Please display it like this: Black and white BlackWhite which will display on the same line or will put the colors underneath if there is more than two
- You've been adding Infobox mapframe to the module parameter, please don't add this. We are looking to hopefully get this implemented into the template and the module parameter is mainly for embedding other infoboxes such as NRHP. Please use the current pushpin map parameters available instead
Thanks Steven (Editor) (talk) 02:59, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
Being a Ghost Story of Christmas, commonly known as A Christmas Carol, is a novella by Charles Dickens, first published in London by Chapman & Hall in 1843 and illustrated by John Leech. The book is divided into five chapters, which Dickens titled "staves". A Christmas Carol recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. (more...)
A Song for Simeon, is a 37-line poem written in 1928 by American-English poet T. S. Eliot (1888–1965). It is one of five poems that Eliot contributed to the Ariel poems series of 38 pamphlets by several authors published by Faber and Gwyer. "A Song for Simeon" was the sixteenth in the series and included an illustration by avant garde artist Edward McKnight Kauffer. The poem's narrative echoes the text of the Nunc dimittis, a liturgical prayer for Compline from the Gospel passage. Eliot introduces literary allusions to earlier writers Lancelot Andrewes, Dante Alighieri and St. John of the Cross. Critics have debated whether Eliot's depiction of Simeon is a negative portrayal of a Jewish figure and evidence of anti-Semitism on Eliot's part.
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Klein High School alumni
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Klein High School alumni requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. [edit]How was my edit vandalism 68.197.89.108 (talk) 20:15, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
Hi, I've noticed that you're very agog with the Nina Nesbitt article, and its various edits... But at times feel you too harsh... that is what it is though. Anyway, regarding your revison of my edit saying "The lead is supposed to summarize the article. There is nothing in the main text of the article that speaks to and verifies her embracing her Swedish roots in the title, promotion, and style of Älskar. At least it is not obvious to me so I suspect it may not be obvious to others."
There are various sources such as this video [1] which to me seems to prove my point, regardless of how weak or strong it seems... also her album title is Swedish, and her mum is too. I'm quite sure that I also read that she was embracing her roots or whatever. But if it isn't noteworthy or important to you then I'll keep that information off of the article as I would rather it not be deleted.
Thanks, Joe Vitale 5 (talk) 01:57, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Joe. Thanks for your note. Certainly not trying to be harsh, but rather succinct and to the point. My concern is that the claim reads like original research since no reliable sources are cited that make that claim. It appears to me that it is your interpretation of the evidence you state above. But if you can cite a reliable source (or sources) that interprets the facts in the same way, then I would think it is eligible to go into the main article. Citing album reviewers or an interview with Nina Nesbitt where she makes the claim outright, would be ideal. Whether it is weighty/noteworthy enough also to be recognized in the lead, I have no opinion at this time for or against. – Archer1234 (talk) 02:20, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Gweilo60, the place and year of Chang Ya-juo's death is reliably sourced. I have restored that information to the article and ensured the proper source was cited at the appropriate locations. Thanks. — Archer1234 (talk) 02:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Hi,can you indicate where is citation? Gweilo60 (talk) 02:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Gweilo60: It is in the article. I'll repeat it here for you. In the second paragraph of the 27 January 2006 Taipai Times article. it verifies the year and the place of her death. I even attached the cited ref to the year and the place of birth in the infobox, in the lead parenthetical, and in the second paragraph of the article.
- Now that I have confirmed that the year and place of her death has been verified, I ask that you restore my edit. Thank you for your interest and diligence in this matter. — Archer1234 (talk) 02:11, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Great, I couldn't found where your citation was. Can you show me your citation that can show clearly where and when she was died? Gweilo60 (talk) 02:08, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Check this reference below, it's from government website says she was born in yongxiu. http://www.wchnxz.com/newsInfo.html?ppn=%E9%A6%96%E9%A1%B5&pn=%E6%99%AF%E5%8C%BA%E5%AF%BC%E8%A7%88&n=%E6%99%AF%E7%82%B9%E4%BB%8B%E7%BB%8D&num=1&id=32 Gweilo60 (talk) 02:21, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Her son even went to yongxiu in 2012 to look for his origin. Gweilo60 (talk) 02:23, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- That is interesting. That is a good find. Perhaps the Taipai Timmes article is incorrect. I will look at the wchnxz article further as best as I can. I do not speak or read Chinese, so will have to rely on translation programs (which do not always do a good job). Can you read Chinese? In any event, we may need to put both sets of information in the article and cite both sources and just note that the information is disputed. Thank yo again for your interest. — Archer1234 (talk) 02:35, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
It would be really great if you could redo the changes. Ankitjee2000 (talk) 17:05, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Ankitjee2000. The source for the grandson claim looks to be satisfactory (although I don't know if "groundreport.in" is considered a reliable source or no). If you add the claim back, be sure to cite the source in the article (not just in the edit summary). However, one comment I have is that I do not think identifying his grandson is lead-worthy. From MOS:LEAD:
The lead should stand on its own as a concise overview of the article's topic. It should identify the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points, including any prominent controversies.
- Identifying his grandson in the lead does not seem to fit with the purpose of the lead. I would encourage its placement elsewhere in the article. Note that there may be other pre-existing statements and claims made in that lead that also do not fit the purpose of the lead, but I offer no opinion at this time as to whether they should be retained. I encourage you to review to see if there are any other improvements that should be made to improve the quality of the article.
- As to "Ustad", it appears from the citations you offered that it is probably established enough to put it in the
|honorific_prefix=
parameter of the infobox (as opposed to adding it as part of his name in|name=
) and as part of his bolded name opening the lead sentence. I recommend you place the citations immediately after his name in the lead sentence. - Thanks for your interest and help in improving Wikipedia. — Archer1234 (talk) 17:57, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Chennai Super Kings Lover I do not know the subject well enough to know which edits are vandalism and which are not. If you think there are socks afoot, then you can open a sockpuppet investigation at WP:SPI.
- If, at the heart of this, it is a content dispute, then you need to follow the steps in WP:dispute resolution to attempt to resolve it in a civil manner. In that case, I recommend you open a new discussion topic at Talk:Shiv_Sena_(Uddhav_Balasaheb_Thackeray) and politely ask the other editor(s) to explain their edits and share their reasoning for why they think their edits are correct. Leave a polite, neutrally worded message on the talk page(s) of the other editor(s) inviting them to the discussion and include a link to the new topic you started. Engage civilly and avoid (1) using provocative or emotionally laden terms, (2) making assumptions about the intentions of other editors, (3) making unfounded accusations, and (4) making personal attacks. Remember to assume good faith. This can take a long time, so be prepared for that. But you will gain credibility as one who is attempting to resolve the dispute amicably and professionally. Good luck. — Archer1234 (talk) 10:53, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
Also, please don’t delete my contributions. If you continue I will report your behavior to Wikipedia. I feel you think you have too much authority. Na NaBur (talk) 19:33, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Na NaBur and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for reaching out to communicate with me regarding how best to improve the Wikipedia article on James F. Byrnes High School. I'd like to start with some important points to keep in mind.
- As you are a student at the school and by your own admission you are being given direction by the school's principal, you have what we in Wikipedia call a "conflict of interest (COI)". Editors with a COI are strongly discouraged from editing directly on affected articles. Instead, COI editors can propose changes on the article talk page. From there, other editors can evaluate the proposed change to ensure that it adheres to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and, if appropriate, incorporate the change into the article. Note that having a COI is not a judgement about that person's opinions, integrity, or good faith. But oftentimes COI editors are not always aware of whether or how much their relationship with the subject of the article may influence their editing. As you have a COI, you must disclose it when you become involved in an affected article. See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#How_to_disclose_a_COI for guidance on how to disclose your COI. I will drop a message on your talk page with more information about COI. You should read and follow the guidance it provides.
- Please know that the article about the school is not for the school. The school does not "own" the article nor does it (nor you or me or any other editor) have editorial control over what goes in it. We are guided by Wikipedia policies, guidelines, and consensus to determine what goes in an article. The purpose of the article is not to promote the school or to be an alternate webhost for information about the school. Consensus guidelines for appropriate content for school articles can be found at WP:WikiProject Schools.
- With respect to state championships won, that is often appropriate content as long as it can be verified by citing published reliable source(s), independent from the school. Typically, each U.S. state has a state "athletics" or "activities" association that has a website that publishes championships won by schools in various sports or other activities. That actual web pages that verify each championship won must be separately cited. Note that playing in a championship game, but not winning it, does not qualify for inclusion in the article. Also, please note that we do not list individual records by students.
- Citing sources is required. It is not optional. We only put in information that can be verified by citing published reliable sources. Relying on an editor's or another person's personal knowledge of some information is not reliable. We call this "original research" and it is not allowed. This can be frustrating when you know something to be true but are unable to find a published reliable source to cite to verify it. For more information on citing sources see WP:Citing sources. For more information on reliable sources see WP:Reliable sources.
- If you need help on how to do something, I offer my help, but you can ask for help at the WP:Teahouse or the WP:Help desk, where many experienced editors can offer guidance and advice. Since you are new to Wikipedia, you will likely find all of the policies and guidelines to be a bit overwhelming. I know it was for me when I started editing. Asking for help or asking for explanations about why or how things are done will help you learn more quickly.
- Finally, I encourage you always to WP:assume good faith on the part of other editors and to keep in mind that "WP:Civility" is one of the five pillars upon which Wikipedia is based. Commenting on another's edit is fine if done in "good faith" and done nicely. Do not make personal attacks anywhere on Wikipedia. Comment on content, not on the contributor.
- I apologize for the length of my response. I actually had more I could have added but left it out because I do not want to overwhelm you with too much. I look forward to working and collaborating with you on improving Wikipedia. — Archer1234 (talk) 22:44, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
Regards, Carey3146 Carey3146 (talk) 05:58, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Carey3146, I took care of some of the duplicated references. I'm not sure if it caught all of them. Do you have any objection to switching the references to use the cite family of citation templates (viz, Cite web, Cite magazine, Cite news, Cite book, Cite journal, etc.). Use of those citation templates will standardize the look of the footnotes and make it easier to detect duplicate references and to detect links that are dead and to add archive links where available. I'm happy to make the edits to implement the switch, but don't want to attempt it if you don't agree. — Archer1234 (t·c) 06:44, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
use of "scope=col" for Basil Joseph's Filmography
[edit]I believe you have removed scope=col from other filmography, so I don't understand why you have added in this particular filmography. I felt it of no use as such, if you could help me understand what's the use? should I consider putting in my future edits. Aadirulez8 (talk) 05:21, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Aadirulez8. I do not recall having removed
scope="col"
from any filmography, but, if I have, it might have been a mistake on my part. Would you reply with link(s) to the edit(s) of mine that removed that? I will look into them and address any issues I find. Thanks. — Archer1234 (t·c) 15:19, 8 March 2023 (UTC)- Sure, when I find it I will share. Although is scope=col necessary? Aadirulez8 (talk) 15:27, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Aadirulez8, per Help:Table#Scope: "
The Manual of Style requires the use of scope for column and row headers.
" As I understand it, it helps with accessibility, in particular with how screen readers interpret the tables for translating to speech for blind persons. There may be other reasons why it is needed. For most readers not using assistive technology, it does not appear to have any effect on how it appears. — Archer1234 (t·c) 15:58, 8 March 2023 (UTC)- Thanks for clarifying it. Cheers! Why wiki link added for non existent pages in Urvashi filmography
[edit]There doesn't exists wiki pages for new films, then why have you put them in these square brackets. Also why mention "italic=no|" when movies mentioned under Pending film tag will be italics already and the "no" value doesn't seem to be applied. As it is in italics. Aadirulez8 (talk) 18:30, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Aadirulez8. Redlinks are not always to be avoided. As explained in WP:REDLINK: "
[read links] indicate that a page will be created soon or that an article should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable.
" and also "a red link should remain in an article if it links to a title that could plausibly sustain an article, but for which there is no existing article, or article section, under any name.
I thought those films fit that criteria, but if you disagree, I have no objection to removing them.
- As to use of
|italic=no
, I switched to preferring that with the explicit italic marks
versus
so that when the film is released, editors need only remove
leaving only the
. When doing it just as
without the explicit italic marks, then when they remove thepending film
portion they may forget to add italics around the film name. I do not know if my theory is correct, but that is why I have been doing it that way.
- Note that If pending film is used without
|italic=italic=no
and with explicit italic marks around the film name then the name is not displayed correctly. For example:
Indian 2
appears incorrectly like:
'Indian 2' †
- Whereas
appears like:
Indian 2 †
- So, if explicit italic marks are used, then
|italic=italic=no
should also be used. — Archer1234 (t·c) 08:43, 23 March 2023 (UTC)- It's a helpful explanation, yes those articles may be created in future. I will leave as it is. Thanks Aadirulez8 (talk) 13:35, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Cast of Viduthalai Part 1
[edit]Thanks for the source. The trailer is here. The credits of the trailer say Cast: | Soori | Vijay Sethupathi | Bhavani Sri | Chetan | Gautham Vasudev Menon | Rajiv Menon | Ilavarasu | Munnar Ramesh | Saravana Subbiah. Prakash Raj is not in the film. DareshMohan (talk) 08:19, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- You might be right that he is not in the film, but not being in the trailer does not necessarily mean he is not in the film (unless it is a very small cast, I would not expect every notable actor who had a role in a film would necessarily appear in the trailer; they might, but they might not). Similarly, being in the trailer is no guarantee that an actor makes the final cut for the released film (it has happened before that an actor's role was left on the cutting room floor). I guess we will find out after the film is released and reviews are published. Happy editing! — Archer1234 (t·c) 09:40, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- Within quotation marks and properly attributed, quotes can be used as long as they do not violate the copyright. If the quotes are long, then use of blockquote might be more advisable. In general, quotes should not dominate a section and use of quotes should not be a substitute for writing encyclopedic prose for a section. — Archer1234 (t·c) 15:54, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
AR RAHMAN upcoming film
[edit]Kamal Haasan's upcoming film KH234 was announced officially,directed by maniratnam and music by AR.Rahman DrArjunanStrange (talk) 17:06, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- @DrArjunanStrange. It does not matter that it was "announced officially". What matters is that, per WP:FILMOGRAPHY, we do not add future film projects until filming has begun as verified by a reliable source. If "filming" has begun, then cite a published reliable source that states that and then it can stay. Absent that, though, it does not belong in a filmography table. If you want to write text about the announcement and include it in the prose, that is fine. It just cannot go in a filmography table. — Archer1234 (t·c) 19:05, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
Jim May (chemical engineer)
[edit]Hi @Archer1234, Do you know how to merge references when one has citied them multiple times throughout the article? I've unsuccessfully tried to do it. Is it possible for you to help clean up the Jim May (chemical engineer) article regarding this issue? Thanks so much. Carey3146 (talk) 06:03, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Carey3146. I typically use reFill, which both fills in citations and consolidates duplicates/repeated citations. However, reFill has some issues, and it can and does make mistakes. You must scrutinize closely the changes that it proposes. Do not just accept what it proposes without a review. It also assigns names to repeated citations and the names are not very meaningful (e.g., "auto", "auto1", "auto2"), so you may want to rename those to something that has more semantic value. I tend to use names that start with a short name of the website/newspaper/work I am citing, along with the author's last name, and then the date (e.g.
<ref name="nyt.jones.2021.10.23">
), but sometimes it can be more meaningful to assign a name like "obituary" or "releasedate" or some other label that has meaning within the context of the article. This can make it easier to view the wikitext and more clearly see which references are used to verify individual claims. If you want to know more about consolidating citations manually, see Help:Footnotes#Footnotes:_using_a_source_more_than_once. — Archer1234 (t·c) 20:31, 20 April 2023 (UTC)- Thank you. india.com silent consensus
[edit]Hi, in that discussion, a user named Ab207 started it at 20:31, 25 February 2022 (UTC), and ended it by saying india.com is unreliable at 08:01, 26 February 2022 (UTC). This is lesser than a day of time. How can this amount to silent consensus? Cinephile4ever 15:22, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Cinephile4ever. Valid question.
- I think this paragraph from WP:SILENCE helps with explaining why that could be sufficient:
Of course, it is impractical to wait forever for affirmation: in the meantime then, sometimes it is best to assume that silence implies consensus. Lacking any objections on talk pages, you can continue to hold that assumption (hopefully safely) until someone comes along and changes the page by editing or reverting. The more visible the statement, and the longer it stands unchallenged, the stronger the implication of consensus is.
- Personally, I would have waited longer (at least a week) and would have advertised the discussion at other relevant WikiProjects (e.g., WP:WikiProject India and WP:RSN) so that if silence remains, that, as indicated in the quote above, there is a strong implication of consensus. But how I might handle that is not binding on anyone else (nor is it binding on me).
- Note that none of that prevents editors from subsequently proposing a change to something that was reached through "silent consensus", but the burden then falls to those editors to establish a new consensus. It is conceivable that someone might propose to change a "silent consensus" and that it is changed ultimately through another "silent consensus". That would probably indicate that it is a matter about which few, if any, people care.
- Hope that helps. — Archer1234 (t·c) 15:40, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
They are giving 3 figures for the same film "Ponniyin Selvan 2" in the same article: nearly 350 crore, 345 crore, 345.50 crore. And 2 figures for domestic gross: 215 crore and 215.50 crore.
You said publishing information without editorial oversight to correct mistakes would be reason to designate pinkvilla as unreliable. - Hi @Gangasutha. Thank you for your note. It is the consensus on Wikipedia that we only add film projects to filmography tables after principal photography has begun as verified by a reliable source. The two links you provide above lead to news articles that do not indicate that filming has begun. Release of "first look" posters re not sufficient evidence to prove that filming has begun. - Hello again, @Gangasutha. Unfortunately, the link you provided above leads to an article that does not report that filming (principal photography) has begun, so it cannot be used to justify adding Toxic to the filmography tables for Yash or any other articles. However, you might consider adding text with the information about Toxic in the appropriate section of the article for Yash (e.g., the "Career" section). If you have any other questions, let me know. Alternatively, you can ask at the WP:Help desk or the WP:Teahouse, where experienced editors field questions and provide guidance. Happy editing. — Archer (t·c) 12:52, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
The film was linked to that film because it is a remake of that film. I am in the process of adding sources to this article. If you want to remove all the red links, that would be helpful. DareshMohan (talk) 20:55, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- @DareshMohan, ok. Thanks for the explanation. Whether or not an article for Sei Jhiati is found, I would encourage removal of the wp:Easter egg link to Aame. If there is no article for Sei Jhiati, then I would consider adding a "Notes" column to the table and add something like "Remake of Aame" there. Even if there is article for Sei Jhiati, it still might be acceptable to add a note like that, although I do not want to encourage overuse of a "Notes" column. Thanks for all your updates. Happy editing. — Archer (t·c) 21:35, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
Missing films
[edit]Many films without articles are missing from Telugu actor pages and IPs are adding them. If a source is needed, just add the original film url. DareshMohan (talk) 22:37, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Archer1234: Undoing 1's ("the IP from France") edits were problematic. They added true information. Simply add citation needed tags and @Jagancj: can add references. Re-adding each removed film is a big headache. Also do Google search and check if article is on Telugu Wikipedia
- Other than the Gulabi mistake, all other edits seem genuine based on each film's opening credits.
- P. S. Sorry for ranting but readding sources can take a long time. Also worst case scenario, you Google the film and nothing shows up, then you can remove it. I understand your edits are in good faith.
Discussion regarding TBA vs TableTBA
[edit]Hi Archer,
I find using TableTBA makes it blends with roles names especially, because it can be read as character short name like NTR. Rather if the table cell is blocked with coloured TBA, the message is clear. Would like to hear your opinion. Thanks. Aadirulez8 (talk) 07:19, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Aadirulez8. I am not a fan of using TBA (either with TBA or TableTBA) in the "Role" column. My preference is to just leave the role blank if there is no source to verify the role name. But if you want to put something in that cell, I don't think it should be something like TBA, which, in my view, is too bold and distracting and doesn't serve an encyclopedic purpose (see also MOS:DECORATION).
- Alternatively, you could just spell out "to be announced" instead of "TBA". Spelling it out would address your concern about "TBA" blending in with other role names. Another option might be to use something less bold and not as distracting as TBA. Perhaps something like:
TBA
, which appears as TBA. It is much less bold than TBA and provides a more subtle visual cue (via the dotted underline) that distinguishes it from other role names. — Archer1234 (t·c) 22:35, 1 March 2024 (UTC)- Aren't we doing the same with pending film flag as well where the whole cell is in yellow colour to denote it. Aadirulez8 (talk) 17:39, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Aadirulez8. Good question. In my opinion, the yellow background used by pending film is much more muted than the blue-magenta background used by TBA, so the level of distraction, to me, is less. The yellow is not so out of place as the blue-magenta.
- But more importantly, the colour (in addition to the dagger) conveys additional information that would not be there otherwise. The colour used by TBA conveys no additional information that isn't already apparent by "TBA" alone or, better yet, "to be determined". I don't see an overriding reason to draw readers eyes to the cells with "TBA" in them, at least for these filmography tables.
- It could be argued that the yellow background *and* the dagger in pending film are redundant. I am certainly open to eliminating that redundancy if there is a consensus to do so. If other editors feel the redundancy should be eliminated, then I would lobby for retaining the dagger and eliminating the background colour for a few reasons, at least.
- The background colours are often not visible or get washed out almost entirely when viewing Wikipedia in "dark mode" (e.g., via the app). The colour, too, is of limited or no value to readers who are partially or fully color blind or have impaired vision. There may also be an issue with the colour interfering with reading when the page is printed out or when viewed with a device without a colour screen. WP:ACCESSIBILITY#Color provides some useful guidance for treatment of colour to make it easier for those with disabilities to read Wikipedia.
- I am open to broadening the participation in this discussion to include other editors. Perhaps moving the discussion to an appropriate WikiProject talk page (e.g., maybe WT:WikiProject Film or WT:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers with notices at related talk pages for MOS:ACCESSIBILITY, Template:TBA, Template:TableTBA, MOS:TABLE, etc.) would be helpful. — Archer1234 (t·c) 19:11, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- Aren't we doing the same with pending film flag as well where the whole cell is in yellow colour to denote it. Aadirulez8 (talk) 17:39, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
If you have a preferred forum to raise the disruption at, please let me know! ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:41, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Pbritti. Now that I think about it, I do recall some activity at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception early this year that was probably this same editor. I had not made the association with this latest surge of activity until your message here. Looks like the /64 was previously blocked back in January for edit-warring, but for only 24 hours. Unless there is some obvious vandalism or disruptive editing that is readily apparent, I don't think AIV will do anything about it. If they get into an edit war, then ANEW might work. Last resort is to go to ANI, although that's my least favorite place to go. If there is an admin you think might take a look at it, then that might be a more expeditious route than going through a noticeboard. — Archer1234 (t·c) 06:02, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- I've sought administrator help but none has been forthcoming. I'm going to be insanely busy for the next couple days, so I would really appreciate you mentioning this to a trusted admin. I should have at least a few minutes tomorrow or possibly Friday to add further comment if required. ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:02, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Family Star issues
[edit]I have stopped creating another article, but request you to please stop that editor who is constantly moving the article to draft space and creating lot of unnecessary confusion. And why is it moved again to Draft:The Family Star instead of Draft:Family Star. What non sense is this by that editor? It is a notable upcoming film article which is well sourced. Draft is not required. The film is set for release on April 5. Make sure he stops this non sense before that. And can you tell why are we maintaining two drafts? why dont we combine both drafts and publish the single article right away? Zolgensma (talk) 13:55, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Zolgensma The film's official title is The Family Star as shown by the CBFC censor certificate.[5] SP013 (talk) 05:48, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Salaar box office update
[edit]Based on the discussion in Indian cinema taskforce linking [6], can you please make the same changes to pages which are linked to Salaar, listing it below.
The Family Star
[edit]I saw the edit you made on Vijay Deverakonda's page about The Family Star and the title not having The in it. The official censor certificate for the film has the title as The Family Star as shown on the CBFC website here [12]. SP013 (talk) 05:46, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- That's fine. — Archer1234 (t·c) 05:53, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- There is no reason to prevent the article Draft: Family Star from existing. It has 3+ reliable reviews from The Hindu, 123telugu and Hindustan Times. @Daniel: You closed the deletion discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Family Star, the film already released has reliable reviews. DareshMohan (talk) 17:11, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Note well that there are TWO competing drafts under development:
- — Archer1234 (t·c) 19:16, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Note I understand that since User:CNMall41 is dubious about the user who made Draft:The Family Star only Draft:Family Star should be moved to main. Did you see my comments at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#User_Zolgensma_NOTHERE and Talk:Family Star? DareshMohan (talk) 21:14, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping. I think a few people are missing the point. The prevention of the page being created is not because of the user. It is because of consensus (I just left a note at ANI about this). If experienced editors decide that it should be created then so be it, and looks like it has. My ANI thread is about conduct. --CNMall41 (talk) 05:28, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
IPs
[edit]I also saw this revert. There has been an uptick of IPs lately, especially with draft and article creation. Likely an attempt to avoid detection as LOUTSOCK. CNMall41 (talk) 05:57, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 18
This featured list is apparently in complete disarray. Would you like to please help repair it? Kailash29792 (talk) 03:38, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
Why is the word film unnecessary [13]? Just randomly mentioning Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi seems odd, leaving the reader confused. DareshMohan (talk) 20:03, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
France IP is back?
[edit]User:105.99.197.187 [14]. Almost all of their edits are false/problematic. They are against any language actors acting in any other language. Don't think VPN is allowed but the fact that an Indian would exist in Bouira, Algeria is mindboggling. DareshMohan (talk) 04:09, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
Checking in
[edit]Hey! Just wanted to pop by and check in. You've been inactive a couple months and I wanted to just see if you're doing alright. Let me know if there's anything I can do! ~ Pbritti (talk) 14:44, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in a research
