Hello Readers,
This wiki page serves as an introduction to me, and to Wikipedia endeavors I am involved in.
My name is Alex Webb, I am an Associate Professor of Earth Sciences (primary interests: field-based structural geology, tectonics, geo- and thermo-chronology) at the University of Hong Kong. [1].
During Fall Semesters, students in my Regional Geology class create Wikipedia pages on relevant topics of their choosing. I first practiced this approach at Louisiana State University, where it was introduced to me by members of LSU's Communication across the Curriculum program [2]. All efforts in this arena have been ably assisted by wikipedia online ambassador Graeme Bartlett [3]. As of late 2020, we have overseen student creation of 131 Wikipedia pages, all on geological subject matter.
