Ryukyu Arc

- Comment: previous topic at Ryukyu arc https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ryukyu_arc&oldid=1081334482
5x expanded by Matt.chw (talk). Nominated by Graeme Bartlett (talk) at 07:04, 16 November 2022 (UTC).
- Long enough. New enough. (Not sure why it's nominated as a 5x. The article was moved to the main space only on Nov 12. Shouldn't it be new?) Reliable citations throughout. Fairly technical article that focuses on the geological aspects of the region. I suspect most of the details might not register with casual lay readers (like me). But those continuing to read the main body presumably have an interest in the subject, and are more familiar with the terms and jargon. The hook is cited; I suppose it's as interesting as it gets, given the topic. QPQ is done. I do see a couple of areas that need further clarification; I noted them in the article. Please fix them. - I have clarified two "what" templates. the 5× was because there previously was a page on the topic, which can be seen at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ryukyu_arc&oldid=1081334482. So I am expecting a check that it is more than five times that! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:44, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarifications. And yes, it's a 5x expansion. GTG. Hybernator (talk) 01:57, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Matt.chw and Graeme Bartlett: Despite my interest in the general subject, I'm having trouble finding anything interesting about ALT0. Is there anything more exciting that can be said? I think the image would work great at small size, so maybe something around that?
- ALT1: ... that at the Ryukyu Arc, the Philippine Sea Plate (pictured) is subducting under the Eurasian Plate at 5-7 cm/year?
- ALT2:
... that although the Philippine Sea Plate at the Ryukyu Arc was stable in the early Miocene, it resumed subduction about 6 million years ago? - -- RoySmith (talk) 17:00, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- I am satisfied with ALT1 or ALT2 as they are in the article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:38, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Hybernator: could you approve ALT1 and/or ALT2 (i.e. tick) if you're OK with it? -- RoySmith (talk) 16:27, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- I am satisfied with ALT1 or ALT2 as they are in the article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:38, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks RoySmith. Let's go with ALT1. Hybernator (talk) 18:30, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
