Comments from Victor (14/11)
[edit]Here are some suggestions.
1. add some images for the rock formations if it is possible.
2. For the figure 'Evolution of the Ryukyu Arc', if it is modified from some papers, please cite that paper.
3. More information need to be introduced.
Thank you. VictorSo1031 (talk) 11:13, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Comments from Gabriel (15/11)
[edit]- For the section "seismicity", it is better to add link to some words. Especially to the term "Low seismic velocity zones"
- Same as the "Nakajin Formation", you can link some words. For example "limestone", "basalt" and "tuffaceous" etc
- I am not sure whether it has a map that shows the location of different formations or groups.
I know it is difficult for you to find articles to write this page. I think you try your best to write this page. It is detail. Nice Gabriel HY Lam (talk) 16:18, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Comments from Miko (15 Nov)
[edit]Hi Timothy! This is Miko here! Generally the page is much improved! You have put more citation in the paragraph and photos. However, I would like to suggest the ideas as follows see which can help you!
1. I think the table is quite unclear that some channels and gaps mentioned, but does it mean they belongs to both columns? Would be great if there is an annotated diagram.
2. Try to CITE the source where you have put in the Evolution of the Ryukyu Arc
3. It is better to write Tectonic Geology rather than just start your sub title “Tectonics” (This is an Adjective) or you can write as “Techtonic XXX”
4. Would be great if a Geological timetable could be made - to summarise all the geological events of the Ryuku Arc.
I hope these comments are helpful to you! Mikocheung (talk) 07:00, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

5x expanded by Matt.chw (talk). Nominated by Graeme Bartlett (talk) at 07:04, 16 November 2022 (UTC).
- Long enough. New enough. (Not sure why it's nominated as a 5x. The article was moved to the main space only on Nov 12. Shouldn't it be new?) Reliable citations throughout. Fairly technical article that focuses on the geological aspects of the region. I suspect most of the details might not register with casual lay readers (like me). But those continuing to read the main body presumably have an interest in the subject, and are more familiar with the terms and jargon. The hook is cited; I suppose it's as interesting as it gets, given the topic. QPQ is done. I do see a couple of areas that need further clarification; I noted them in the article. Please fix them. Hybernator (talk) 21:22, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- I have clarified two "what" templates. the 5× was because there previously was a page on the topic, which can be seen at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ryukyu_arc&oldid=1081334482. So I am expecting a check that it is more than five times that! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:44, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarifications. And yes, it's a 5x expansion. GTG. Hybernator (talk) 01:57, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Matt.chw and Graeme Bartlett: Despite my interest in the general subject, I'm having trouble finding anything interesting about ALT0. Is there anything more exciting that can be said? I think the image would work great at small size, so maybe something around that?
- ALT1: ... that at the Ryukyu Arc, the Philippine Sea Plate (pictured) is subducting under the Eurasian Plate at 5-7 cm/year?
- ALT2:
... that although the Philippine Sea Plate at the Ryukyu Arc was stable in the early Miocene, it resumed subduction about 6 million years ago? - -- RoySmith (talk) 17:00, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- I am satisfied with ALT1 or ALT2 as they are in the article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:38, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Hybernator: could you approve ALT1 and/or ALT2 (i.e. tick) if you're OK with it? -- RoySmith (talk) 16:27, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- I am satisfied with ALT1 or ALT2 as they are in the article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:38, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks RoySmith. Let's go with ALT1. Hybernator (talk) 18:30, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, I added (pictured) to the ALT1 and struck the others. -- RoySmith (talk) 18:35, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
