Can you please restore: Paxful? It was tagged for speedy deletion as it spotted repost from the one that was flagged back in April 2019. But I've only used a handful of material from the source and it has been thoroughly edited and revised for accuracy and notability. Paxful is a peer to peer bitcoin marketplace operating in almost the same scale as LocalBitcoins. The tone is sufficiently neutral and I've removed the elements from the last edit which made it look like an ad.

Convert m2

[edit]

Your AWB script changes to 2. That's good, but it causes errors when done inside a template such as {{convert}}. For example, diff broke {{convert|113.69|km²|2|abbr=on}}. Perhaps some tweaking of the AWB script would change to m2 inside a convert template before changing other occurrences. Johnuniq (talk) 07:29, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnuniq: Thanks for the alert as I must have missed those in the manual check. Have you fixed the ones I screwed up? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:01, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I fixed a couple of issues which were shown in a tracking category, all good. Johnuniq (talk) 08:06, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have now tested a regex to fix: {{([Cc])onvert([^}]*)([23]) → {{$1onvert$2$3 so hopefully I won't have this blunder again. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:37, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I do not use AWB much, but have done some fixes using it. To convert I think the proper procedure would be to insert a rule before other rules. The inserted rule would change m² to m2 in convert templates. Then do what you where previously doing regarding other m² occurrences in following rules. Under Advanced settings, the inserted rule would have a name like "fix convert". The Type would be "Inside templates {{...}}", and the If tab would show Contains "[Cc]onvert". The Find tab would be m² and Replace with would be m2. Johnuniq (talk) 07:37, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi editor/admin sir wikimedia commons have accepted the OTR's as well and the editors have fixed few mistakes in the page as well. I'm requesting you to kindly review/patrol this page not because i have no patience but because if you google it you will notice many people and news media from pakistan are talking about "operation swift retort" 90% people don't know that there is a wikipedia already made. I hope you will review this if possible i have many different articles.

Hello Graeme sir could you try to fix so i can understand and will make no mistake in future regarding 'fonts' Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by پاک آرمی زندہ باد (talkcontribs) 08:52, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It was me that messed up. You font looks OK. But for your page about the film, it is presenting one point of view. Even if the film does so, the Wikipedia article cannot appear to be favouring Pakistan. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:57, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks But actually the fact is mentioned in the page anyways i welcome all the comments :) one question how to check if that page is patrolled ? and thanks for correcting the grammar mistakes. one more thing where i said "indian media propagated" , you added , "indian media said" let me clear it

Indian media on 26 feb 2019 propagated that 350 terrorists were killed next day indian air force and indian army officials said to media that "we are not sure if someone was killed or not and that 350 were killed is a media fabricated story"

so according me it's a propaganda for more pls see https://timesofislamabad.com/26-Feb-2019/pakistan-military-warns-india-of-a-big-surprise https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/03/04/after-pulwama-indian-media-proves-it-is-bjps-propaganda-machine/ https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/437218-latest-video-rejects-indian-propaganda-of-targeting-jaish-camp

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by پاک آرمی زندہ باد (talkcontribs) 12:09, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well "propagated" is not the verb for making propaganda. Probably fabricated is a more suitable verb. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:37, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Psalm 100

[edit]

Hi, you didn't seem to understand the complaint about the Psalms. The copyrighted text in question is the Judaica Press English translation. It's listed on the Chabad.org website as a separate copyright from the Chabad website's own copyright. (Can be hard to find, the notice is inside a graphic and not actual HTML text.) I do not claim expertise to know if the Hebrew text is copyrighted. I assume that it is not. But that's immaterial if the English translation is still within copyright, we can't use it. (Claim also affects dozens of other Psalm articles, see my report at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2019 September 16 where I've listed the numbers of allll the other articles which have infringing text in them. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rarest element requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 13:45, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I've restored and expanded the articles with additional sources. I've never understood the rule of deleting notable articles that are neutrally written simply because the editor was banned. Do you think it would be safer to remove the edits made by the banned editors? Valoem talk contrib 12:08, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you can do that, then do so. The purpose of G5 deletion is to deny recognition to those that break the rules. Some of the trouble makers might be violating copyright, or ignoring paid editor requirements. So if you want to keep any text, please check if it is neutral and correct. List of films created with davinci resolve

[edit]

The missing films of that 1000 likely didn’t have a reference or article written about them and thus aren’t listed. Therefore, the list will likely never have 1000 films listed. It isn’t ridiculous in size as other video editing programs like Final Cut Pro also have long lists of the software’s use in major feature films. Wikipedia already has a similar list with reliable sources on the Blackmagic Fusion Wikipedia article. However, this new list is relating to DaVinci Resolve rather than simply Blackmagic Fusion’s use in feature films. Also, Blackmagic Fusion has since been integrated into Davinci Resolve like a successor to the program which should explain the overlap in films listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Googleuser (talkcontribs) 02:18, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merging planetary differentiation and core-mantle differentiation

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that there are separate articles for planetary differentiation and core-mantle differentiation despite those being essentially the same thing. It seems like the sensible thing would be to merge them, but I have no idea how to do that or request that. Since you are an admin who has made some structural/linkage edits to the core-mantle differentiation page I thought I would ask you. The core-mantle differentiation page is the better of the two, but planetary differentiation is a more general term and that page is listed as a level-5 vital article and linked into more wikiprojects, so it seems like the better option would be to merge the content of core-mantle differentiation into planetary differentiation rather than the other way around, but I'm open to either. AlexInMetal since you wrote the vast majority of the core-mantle differentiation article your input would be valuable too if you are still around. Thanks, Physdragon (talk) 15:57, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I will add merge tagging for you. Don't pay any attention to level-5 Vital article classifications as they are the very bottom of importance and not really vital. Planetary differentiation article is poorly referenced and so could do with much improvement. Personally I think they could be two different topics as you say the planetary differentiation is much more general. THat could include planets very different to Earth. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:28, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've added a section on the talk page to see if anyone else has any thoughts and will leave it about a week before starting to merge them. Physdragon (talk) 15:31, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About "albumN" in <ref></ref>

[edit]

Hello,
I have seen this edit, where you replaced <ref name="albumNotes"> by <ref name="albumotes">. I do not know how to configure the AWB tool, but is it possible to avoid replacing albumN → album in <ref></ref>?
Regards --NicoScribe (talk) 21:16, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well I have undid that change. What I can do is not make it change with a capital N inside. I always manually check if the edit is sane. In this case where it was a ref name I thought it was OK as long as it was consistent. But if people care then I don't have to let it happen. The bot is at it again, this time adding File:Frank Tashlin.jpg to User:Gamaliel/Billy Ireland. Basically what's happening as explained at User talk:JJMC89#File:Frank Tashlin.jpg is that JJMC89's bot keeps correctly removing the file and LysteriaBot keeps incorrectly re-adding it. Undeletion

Hi. What is the right avenue for an article to be restored that has been deleted on G5 grounds? I have already tried asking the deleting admin but they declined. Solo Samaritan (talk) 07:02, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Solo Samaritan: First you may have to demonstrate that you are not connected to the article creator, and are truly independent. Then the likely trouble that may be connected to the article creator would need to be examined, for example is it a copyright violation, is it an advert, etc. Then you can offer to take responsibility and propose additions. WP:DRV is the place to go to appeal a deletion and establish a consensus. It would often be easier just to write a new article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:39, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Umm, well. Would you Userify or turn 17th Lux Style Awards into a Draft to spare me the hassle of creation or going to DRV. Solo Samaritan (talk) 12:01, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mu

[edit]

Hi, I noticed several edits for "µ → μ" in the context of units. The first "µ" (U+00B5) has Unicode name micro sign, and the later "μ" (U+03BC) has Unicode name greek small letter mu. Given than several of these changes are for units for the micro sign, then why change them to a Greek letter? +mt 20:57, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

hi @Mwtoews: I was started off in this by errors identified on Wikipedia:Typo Team/moss. The WP:MOS recommends the Greek letter for this use. U+00B5 is deprecated. Initially I was confused as those two characters look very similar on the screen, but a find in the browser would not find the alternate, but a Wikipedia search found both, and a wikilink automatically changes it to the Greek letter. Recently I started to use AWB to find micro signs. However perhaps it is not worthwhile to change them when there is nothing else to fix in the page, as the look of the page is the same. There are still 2351 pages with occurrences of "µm" (micrometer) to go! You can expect that the typo team will eventually change them all. I already changed all the "µM". µg and µL are also quite common. Do you think I should stop changing the en-masse? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:39, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's a super subtle detail that not many will see. What source says that U+00B5 is deprecated? +mt 22:03, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme. I was just trying to sort out the confusion between these two compounds. I've moved things around in Wikidata, so if you could double check to see if everything looks consistent to you, that would be helpful. -- Ed (Edgar181) 22:03, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Edgar181:, I have already been looking at the Wikidata and it was changing as I looked! I already noticed that chemspider was confused, and it is not clear from the name what the isomer actually is! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:08, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect that though they are technically different isomeric chemical compounds, that in real-world uses it is as a mixture and that any discussion of one in various sources is really about both/either. -- Ed (Edgar181) 22:14, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AfC question

[edit]

Hi Graeme Bartlett - On 11/25/19, I submitted a revised version of Draft:Landed for AfC review. On 11/27/19, it appears the draft's submission template was removed by another editor. Is it possible to return the draft to the pool of submissions from 11/25/19? Thank you. E-Stylus (talk) 06:06, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Stylus: It was submitted and then reviewed. Once reviewed that pink box appeared. Since you claim to have addressed the problems mentioned, you can click on the blue resubmit button to get another review. If I do it it will say that I submitted it, but that will not be you want. Fryslân

[edit]

Hi,

I'm not sure where to start, so decided to call upon your help. There is a province in the Netherlands which is wrongly being called "Friesland" for a very long time. I'm trying to edit pages with any reference, stating the official name is "Fryslân", but I have noticed it's literally all over (references to flags, other pages, etc.). Even though the province is called Friesland by many people, the real name is Fryslân. It's like we would make a "Holland" page for the Netherlands. Just because it's common to use a name, doesn't make it right.

For your reference, the official page of the Fryslân government page, which lets you choose Dutch or Frisian as your language. Note that Fryslân doesn't change (!), but everything else in the text does. Why not? Because it's the name of the province. I don't mind footnotes which state is commonly used or mostly referred to as Friesland or even "Friesland in Dutch", but the official links should be correct, right? I always like Wiki to give factual correct information, but don't know how to change the reference pages...

Looking forward to your help and passing on this message :)

A frustrated former Frisian resident — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.115.204.15 (talk) 18:28, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is English Wikipedia, so we use English language names for things, which are not necessarily the local names. And you can also see WP:Official name which expands this. Eventually it may change. However there is not really an "â" symbol in the English alphabet, so don't expect it to be adopted like that. However, if there are any references that fail to match the title of the page, they should be fixed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:46, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Restore pages and re-redirect?

[edit]

It's been a few years since I edited here. Something that bothers me is how some redirects are deleted outright (e.g. Volvagia). In my opinion, the page could be re-restored and re-redirect to something more appropriate rather than be outright deleted. Anyway, I see that you're on the Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to provide copies of deleted articles list, and i was wondering if you could either restore Volvagia's edit history or give to me as an XML. I am making a Zelda Wiki, and deleted Wikipedia articles could greatly help (especially if i can copy them and attribute to wikipedia). This way the content is recycled more appropriately :) thanks 2005-Fan (talk) 00:53, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@2005-Fan: I have restored the versions with content to User:2005-Fan/Volvagia. I did not however restore redirects as the target does not even mention this name. Note Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2018_January_28#Levels/stages,_items,_concepts,_and_characters_in_The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time, so I would not call it outright. Are you able to use Special:Export to get your xml? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:07, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was able to download it, thank you very much. I'll let you know about some other pages when/if i come across them. There's a load of Zelda pages that were deleted -- again this means a lot to me, thanks so much 2005-Fan (talk) 07:32, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well GB. MarnetteD|Talk 11:47, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can I get the full history restored to the Draft:Grandyy it looks like there were previous drafts as well. The YouTuber has 2.5 million views I have also found multiple sources. Also can you move The Magic Castle to Magic Castle per commonname? Valoem talk contrib 18:13, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if there are any issues with this userfication request. You have helped me restore articles for several years now, all articles I've restored have been brought to encyclopedic quality and I appreciate the help you've given me in expanding Wikipedia. Given my track record with you I can't help but notice that this delay may be caused by this comment by ferret (talk · contribs) who I have never interacted with before. In terms of policy, I am correct here I can restore the page as it has never went through AfD. Also the last version was created in 2016, the version I restore included an additional six sources all of which are secondary and reliable. The VG community is fairly cordial so I believed a discussion can be productive. As it happens the VG community has an IAR policy specifically regarding this article which prefers the release of a next gen console's specs before an article is created. This is to deter fancruft and speculation for entering the article, an issue I believe can be resolved through page protection. Based on policy this version I restored passes GNG and I am confident that if I insisted on an AfD it would survive. However, since there is a general agreement this article will be created after E3 2020 in June, I've elected to wait as that is the most amiable path to take. If you have any issues please let me know, I tend to try and push out as many articles as I can toward the end of the year and I always need to see prior versions of article to make sure I am using stronger sources. I do intent to DRV Grandyy after I've completed the article. Also the second request of moving The Magic Castle to Magic Castle is uncontroversial as per commonname [1]. Valoem talk contrib 19:45, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've included some sources regarding Grandayy The Verge, Malta Today, Polygon, Times of Malta, and Independent each source gives him significant coverage. Valoem talk contrib 19:53, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect you're conflating separate issues, Graeme may simply be busy at this time, its the holidays after all in many regions. I see you didn't really note that I wasn't the only one opposed to your draft for the ninth generation being mainspaced, as the project discussion clearly shows. We've also interacted on several articles, but that's fine. I have zero opinion on Grandyy. You should focus on that instead. -- ferret (talk) 20:21, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret: It would be better if we have this discussion on your talk page, but on the relevant topic, I did indeed note that after the discussion was opened the general consensus is to wait until E3 for specs and to avoid speculation cruft being added to the article, I clearly said that, in fact I somewhat agree. Since there was no AfD nor a comment left on the deletion page, an editor who has not previously dealt with the topic (i.e. me) would be unaware a discussion was requested. Regardless, since no comment was left and no AfD in its history, a discussion is not required to restore an article delete by PROD, plus I added six reliable sources. I do still believe if this went to AfD where a wide range of editor are involved this article would have a chance to survive. The comment you left had an undertone that I was being disruptive when I was not, do you think I was being disruptive? Valoem talk contrib 21:06, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Valoem: The renaming-to-be-moved-later thing struck me as odd, but otherwise there was no undertone intended (nor did I leave a warning, which I would have if I felt it was disruptive) -- ferret (talk) 21:20, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret: Ok sounds good, for the move, the reason I do that in some cases is because other similar articles have done the same in the past. It seems earlier generations were written under History of video game consoles (X generation) then moved to X generation of video game consoles such as History of video game consoles (eighth generation), History of video game consoles (seventh generation) I do it to maintain consistence and precedence. Valoem talk contrib 21:32, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That other request actually had nothing to do with this one. I was thinking of referring you to ST47, the deleter. However since I now see an offer to DRV and not just move it back to mainspace, then it will follow the community's wishes in regard to whether this should exist or not. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:45, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I almost always open DRVs for article deletion through AfD. Thanks for the help Graeme, if I was an admin I wouldn't have to always ask you :( Valoem talk contrib 21:06, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK I have moved this to Draft:Grandayy - note that I did not use your suggested name (why its redlinked), and I obliterated the preexisting draft with a one-liner. The other draft was this being moved around before. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:01, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks also The Magic Castle to Magic Castle [2] official page shows "the" is lower cased so probably not apart of the name. Valoem talk contrib 21:08, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Blimey ! That didn't even touch sides ! "Speedy deletion" indeed ! GONE ! Before I even got your note ! Following the very recent death of his uncle Robert, the 3rd Lord Baden-Powell, David's father Michael becomes the 4th Lord B-P, and I thought that some "visitors" might be interested to find out about the new heir to the title, so I created the Page, as a start, while I sought more information, and to enable others to add more. While I can understand the "deletion" bit, I would have thought that "speedy" could wait a week or so ? Would you revive it, please, pro tem ? RobinClay (talk) 11:49, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was surprised it was deleted so quickly too. How I put it into a draft? If the guy actually has the title I would say that was a claim of importance, but heir is too indirect. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:52, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is that a "Wiki-rule", or just your opinion? The new Baron is 79, so it may not be too long before... and with a change of title, people are likely to be interested in the new heir. That's my opinion <grin> RobinClay (talk) 17:44, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of File:3Coffins.jpg

[edit]

Hi. I see you've deleted File:3Coffins.jpg as an as an allegedly invalid fair-use claim. It was no doubt bot-tagged because a fair use image showing the UK first edition already appears in the article, and the bot thought that this was a second image showing the same thing. But this picture actually shows the historically-significant US first edition, which is quite different and even has a different title. In response to the bot tag, and as it requested, I explained the rationale on the image's talk page. Did you see that? Regards MichaelMaggs (talk) 10:42, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, this was over 10 years ago. I will take a look. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:35, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The picture is the same as what appears on https://www.amazon.com/Three-Coffins-Number-Mystery-Library/dp/B001T8CWJE . It was not tagged by a bot, but user:Salavat. The reason Salavat gave wsa "Fails WP:NFCC#3a as multiple non-free images are being used when one would suffice, and also, or in the alternative, fails WP:NFCC#8 as the image does not add significantly to readers' understanding of the article and its omission would not be detrimental to that understanding". I can't see that you User:MichaelMaggs ever edited the file information or talk page. Perhaps you are thinking of another file? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:43, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK now I see you were editing File:The Three Coffins, US first edition 1935.png only a few days ago. you should talk to user talk:Explicit about this delete. User:JJMC89 did the tagging for F7 delete. (not a bot) JJMC89 is also an admin. (a bot did do a request to remove old unused revision though). chembox

[edit]

Thanks for putting the chembox on the Color Developing Agent articles. I added them so that I could link them from the appropriate articles, and realizing that even the simplest part of the chemistry wasn't in the other articles. I actually did E6 processing when I was in college 40 years ago, and I remember looking up the names on the box, especially the color developer which is, pretty much, the most important part. I didn't know about chembox, but it is nice to see them. Thanks! Gah4 (talk) 10:42, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please unprotect this so established editors can edit it fully protection appears to violate WP:AGF. This redirect has been contested and is time sensitive as this is an ongoing event and likely to be expanded now. Valoem talk contrib 22:31, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Either ask user talk:Zzyzx11 or put a request at WP:RFPP as this is obviously controversial, so I won't do a unilateral override. (Related discussion is there already) In the meantime you can edit Death of Kobe Bryant. Or use Talk:2020 Island Express Sikorsky S-76B crash to discuss whether or not it should be a redirect. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:38, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Zz appears to have left after full protection as he is not responding. There was no policy violating edit warring so the full protection is unnecessary and bold. Unfortunately, this is time sensitive as current and trending article are most likely to be expanded. I've left a message on Mjroots talk page regarding this. 2019-20 Wuhan vs novel coronavirus outbreak

[edit]

Hi Graeme! Regarding - link naming You're right (and I'm aware of the fact) that the name of the article itself is contested. But in fact "2019-20 Wuhan coronavirus outbreak" is imprecise, as it is not clear whether it refers to an outbreak of a coronavirus in Wuhan (years 2019-20), or to an outbreak (wherever) of a virus named Wuhan coronavirus (years 2019-20). "Novel coronavirus" is unambiguous in this context, so for me the obvious choice.

Would be nice if you could revert back! Regards, Sean Heron (talk) 02:51, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I won't be reverting back based on that. We should just be linking to articles using their existing titles, and await the discussion about what they are called on the talk pages. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:34, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Graeme Bartlett. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Tony Sutorius".

List of exoplanets discovered in 2020: remark column to include citations

[edit]

In jawiki, last column of List of exoplanets discovered in 2020 is "Reference" instead of "Remarks". I suggest the references are more helpful for readers, therefore in enwiki the last column of corresponding lists should be also "Remarks and references". It is important because of falling wiki pages coverage on individual exoplanets and even planetary systems. Too many new planets, too few editors.Trurle (talk) 04:54, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The best place for this discussion is likely Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astronomy as you will get more opinions on the idea and there is more than one page. Perhaps remarks could be in a different column to references, that is my preference. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:36, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

JHMap and WOMC

[edit]

Have them together, then no requirement to add others and remove other each day/update/ Sun Creator(talk) 09:43, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you make work? Sun Creator(talk) 09:48, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Only a reference that supports the figures should be there. redundant references are removed. We have already talked about this on the talk page. The John Hopkins reference is counted as more reliable if it is up to date. I will be reverting most of your bold addition. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:50, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's not true. By using only JHU another refs get added by local reports and then they get removed when out of date(hours!), but using both site it catches all local news and so no requirement-to add and remove references constantly. Sun Creator(talk) 09:56, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Collapse notes

[edit]

Can you collapse notes for the template(COVID)? The chart gets unnecessarily large on computer, which looks a bit overwhelming. Well, on my computer, its length increases by 2 or maybe 3 times the width when note is shown. After some point, this happened. Maybe the note doesn't need to be collapsed, but I believe the width should remain same when the note is shown or hidden! Thanks, Luke Kern Choi 5 (talk) 12:05, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The width should not change with or without collapse. Collapsing renders the notes inoperative, so it should be expanded by default, and better without that complicated code. If your table is getting wider with it, then something is wrong there. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:10, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, and otherwise, can I ask for another problem? This is about territories, such as France, UK, etc. The problem is, France, for example has 4500 cases, but it doesn't include other territories. It goes same for few other countries. Also, as the number of territories increases, it gets harder to update each number properly. Do you have any idea about adding up those numbers more friendly? Thanks, Luke Kern Choi 5 (talk) 12:17, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:AtlanticCollegelogo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superseded by version on Commons under same name. File on commons is not identical, so this doesn't qualify for speedy deletion (local version has unneeded grey line at the bottom).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Your draft article, Draft:Egg repair

[edit]

Hello, Graeme Bartlett. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Egg repair".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! TheImaCow (talk) 15:49, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme,
This draft looks suitable for mainspace. I don't remember why it was on my watchlist, but I just edited it a bit (not just to avert G13 process:). Any objection to moving it to a live article? DMacks (talk) 15:56, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This was a demonstration of writing on Wikipedia (using a phone). Thanks for the improvement, I have moved this to article space. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:46, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Consider the demonstration a success (and also further reinforces WP:WHAAOE :). Thanks! DMacks (talk) 04:15, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Queensland Government crest

[edit]

Hey there! I saw that you marked the modern Queensland Government crest in the public domain? I don't think that's the case, as this make of the crest/publication and adoption of this version of the crest is quite a bit more modern and was definitely not made in the 1800s (I don't think SVG files and sans-serif fonts where huge back then hahahaha). This design was made the brand logo for the Queensland Government in 2012[1], so for all intents and purposes as far as I see, it won't be in the public domain until 2062 using that date (which is pretty much the only date we have for when this version was possibly made). If you consider this version in terms of what the crest categorically contains and not how it's designed, it was modified in 1977 during the Queen's Silver Jubilee, therefore meaning that it would still be in copyright under the Crown until 2027. Hypothetically thought, if it was covered under the 1800s date, I would think that it would still fail WP:NUSC - I doubt that the Queensland Coat of Arms was published in the US before 1925 (failing the 5-point test), and we don't have written evidence that it's in the PD (failing the 3-point test). Thoughts? ItsPugle (talk) 08:39, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is definitely a derivative of the original 1893 coat of arms. So the image itself is public domain. It doesn't matter if it was published in the United States or not as copyright expired in 1943 before the URAA date. However it probably was published in the US prior to 1923, but I won't look for evidence. But as you say the .svg is not in the same copyright status. You can see the comment I made on the file. And since it is not free should probably be replaced by a free .png format file. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:44, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey! I don't think that this one in question can be considered a derivative of the 1893 one, as the supporting animals to both sides were added in 1977 - quite a significant addition? Any idea on where to find an explicitly free .png format of this file? Regardless, it's not in use anywhere so it's not as critical to an extent :) ItsPugle (talk) 09:37, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

[edit]

Hi Graeme Bartlett, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

COVID-19 chart switcher

[edit]

Hi Graeme! Following up on this, I've created a draft of a template that can switch between per capita and totals here using {{Switcher}}. I can't figure out how to get the radio buttons to go within the box itself, though (ideally just below the title). Would you have any additional thoughts on this? Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 08:37, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I do not see how switcher is doing anything here. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:54, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At User:Sdkb/sandbox#Sandbox, I'm using {{Switcher}} to try to implement your idea from here. Does that help clarify? (please use {{ping|Sdkb}} on reply) {{u|Sdkb}}talk 20:04, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I realised what you want to do, but when I look at the sandbox I just see both tables side by side. I could write a javascript for this, but we cannot add javascript on Wikipedia to make this happen. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:23, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, what's at my sandbox isn't a successful implementation yet, just the best I could initially do. I feel like if it was possible to code {{Switcher}}, there has to be some way to code what I want to do; I may ask at VPT once the per capita table is brought up to speed. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 03:25, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Allscripts 2010 logo.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

Tpdwkouaa (talk) 17:55, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I added some better refs to the article itself (especially a specific claim of notability, something many chemical articles lack!). Still more ideas on the talkpage for when someone gets the time, but I think the article now would pass as a viable stub. DMacks (talk) 06:02, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, {{AfC postpone G13}} is not a speedy deletion template. Rather it is added to AfC drafts during an edit made solely to reset the G13 clock, such as for a "promising" draft nearing (or beyond) a G13 deadline. It takes one parameter, the number of times G13 has been postponed for that draft. When I do a refund of a draft deleted under G13, I typically replace the db-g13 template with {{AfC postpone G13|1}}, to help indicate that the G13 clock has been restarted. Many AfC reviewers will recognize this template in the wiki-code, I believe. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 17:59, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This page should not have been speedy deleted anyway with G13 as it was in userspace and not submitted for AFC. AfC postpone G13 might be useful if it was a potentially suitable article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:53, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Machinexa: Your signature needs improvement, as it does not link to your talk page! Suggestions for your page - what is the difference from 2-deoxyvobtusine or 18-oxovobtusine? We do not need a see also section. For the reference, the url you give does not give any info about the bibliographic details, so if it changes you will not be able to find the content. It appears to be originally from Agricultural University Wageningen papers, 0169-345X ; 85-3 (1985), titled Voacanga,(Apocynaceae), a review of it's taxonomy, phytochemistry, ethnobotany and pharmacology. author: Leeuwenberg. You have made several false claims against me. All edits appear to be political including blatantly false information. None of my edits are political in nature, and I wrote that the first outbreak of the Spanish Flu was within Allied Armies of WWI. Indeed that is not where the flu strain originated from, but that is the first known outbreak. That is not blatantly false or political, and contrary to what you claim, I have never claimed the Spanish Flue originated in Allied Armies. And I am not aware of any political reasoning to claim that the Spanish Flu was deliberately released by Allied Armies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azaan Habib (talkcontribs) 20:01, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there I have already reported this page to copyright investigation. The background section was infringing I rewrote parts but I'm concerned it is still very close to the original source. The website does not work correctly with our tool but if you read it both the structure and much of the text are the same not just the quote. I left a tag to notify of this but revision deletion will be needed for the infringing material. It is still better to rewrite as even now it verges on plagiarism. white powder

[edit]

No picture of a white powder (or colourless crystal) carries any information that is unique to a named chemical substance. The description "white" applies to a powder of any colourless substance. The chemmbox should contain the property "colourless" when that is the case. Petergans (talk) 21:22, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This topic was recently discussed on the project page, and the decision was that pictures of white powders should be allowed. In this case you can see it is also in the form of little spheres, which is how it is normally prepared. see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals/Archive 2020#Images of samples: remove them all vs Assume good faith for that discussion. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:03, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is verifiability. It cannot be verified that a picture of a white powder is of a particular substance. It also applies to colourless crystals as the morphology of a crystal is determined by its point group, which cannot be unique for a particular substance. There are a few apparent exceptions like cubes/octahetdra of cubic crystals or plates/rods of tetragonal and orthorhombic crystals, that may merit discussion in the article body. The WP discussion that you cite does not properly address the issue. "Good faith" is not acceptable in relation to a picture as it can never be verified. Coactive

[edit]

Hi Graeme

I write to gauge your thoughts about a proposal to change the nonmetal categories appearing in our periodic table from {reactive nonmetals} and {noble gases} to {coactive nonmetals} {halogen nonmetals} and {noble gases}

thank you, Sandbh (talk) 08:18, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

*     *     *

Context. There has been some discussion about nonmetal categories at WP:ELEMENTS.

I suspect most active members of that project (including me) would agree to divide the reactive nonmetals i.e. the nonmetals other than the noble gases, into two relatively clear and self-descriptive categories. However, since the WP periodic table was created, we haven't found a good way of doing this.

I caveat the expression "relatively clear" by what we say in our periodic table article:

"Placing elements into categories and subcategories based just on shared properties is imperfect. There is a large disparity of properties within each category with notable overlaps at the boundaries, as is the case with most classification schemes."

That said, didactically speaking, the use of "natural" classes or clusters to organise information supports content processing.

In Wikipedia history, the categories of "other nonmetals" and halogens are the two most enduring nonmetal categories used in our periodic table. That was until we started complaining about what a non-informative category name "other nonmetals" was.

Now, the halogen category is consistent with the traditional aspect of teaching the periodic table by contrasting the alkali metals with the halogens.

Long story short, we don’t currently have a halogen category because we weren't able to satisfactorily characterise the other nonmetals as something other than {other nonmetals}. So we decided that they and the halogen nonmetals would collectively be the reactive nonmetals.

Developments. A couple of articles in the peer-reviewed literature have prompted me to revisit this question. The first is "Metals are not the only catalysts", in Nature. The second is "Organising the metals and nonmetals", in Foundations of Chemistry (disclaimer: 1, authored by me; 2, the scheme I propose is not the same as that in this article).

The upshot is that the other nonmetals can be characterised by their:

  1. tendency to form covalent or polymeric compounds;
  2. prominent biological roles;
  3. proclivity to catenate i.e. form chains or rings;
  4. multiple vertical, horizontal and diagonal relationships;
  5. uses in, or as, combustion and explosives;
  6. uses in organocatalysis; and
  7. dualistic Jekyll (#2) and Hyde (#5) behaviours

The first six properties of the nonmetals in this part of the periodic table are documented in the literature. #7 is an observation by me.

Coactive. In light of properties 1, 3, 4 and 6, I suggest the term "coactive nonmetals" would be a good way of referring to the other nonmetals. The remaining nonmetals (F, Cl, Br, I) then become the halogen nonmetals, thus restoring the pre-eminence of this category. Here, we show astatine as a post-transition metal since condensed astatine is expected to be a full-fledged FCC metal.

"Coactive" means, "acting in concert; acting or taking place together". That seems like a good adjective wrt the covalent compounds of H, C, N, O, P, S and Se. For their polymeric compounds, e.g. of H, N, O or S, the connection is to the linked nature of their repeating structural units. That is how the literature tends to deal with the nonmetals, except that it has no common term for the first category. There is also the catalytic conation of "coactive".

The literature. Bear in mind the expression coactive nonmetals is not found in the literature.

That said, the complementary term "coactive metal" is found in literature, in the following senses:

  • "…adding a coactive metal (such as Pt, Ir, or Rh metal)"
  • "The same set of experiments was performed in presence of other co-active metal ions Fe +2, Fe +3, Co +2, Ni +2, Mn +2, Cd +2, Ca +2, Mg +2…".
  • "It is of great interest and challenging to improve new catalysts that consist of any of those components and new active metal component (ie co-active metal, promoter)."

There are several other references in the literature to "co-active" elements, materials or substances, including manganese, iron, nickel, cobalt and plutonium.

In the endeavours by WP:ELEMENTS to nail the other nonmetals, we will have now gone full circle from the original {other nonmetals and halogens} → {polyatomic nonmetals and diatomic nonmetals} → {reactive nonmetals}. Now we have a putative categorisation scheme for going from {reactive nonmetals} → {coactive nonmetals} and {halogen nonmetals} that would fulfil the worthy intentions of our predecessors.

Question: Is "coactive nonmetal" a neologism or is it a descriptive phrase, c.f. "coactive metal"? If there are coactive metals does this suggest there are coactive nonmetals? The other nonmetals category is well enough seen in the literature. The covalent-polymeric, biological, catenative, interlinked, combustive/explosive, and organocatalytic properties of the nonmetals in this part of the periodic table are documented in the literature. Historically, and as noted, the "other nonmetals" category is the most enduring nonmetal category used in the Wikipedia periodic table, until we started complaining about what a non-informative category name this was. Do we now have enough content, in pursuit of a better encyclopedia, to support a change back to a binary categorisation of the nonmetals as coactive (formerly other) nonmetals, and halogen nonmetals?

@Sandbh: this is the first time I heard of "coactive", but it I see that this word was used by Shakespeare. Lo, wikt:coactive exists but there's no wikt:coactive metal. So for me this is a neologism. ANd there are no Google hits. I don't think it would be useful as a categorisation scheme as people will not know what the term means. Categories are supposed to be a defining characteristic of the item, and used to find similar types of articles. Since few have used the term "coactive nonmetal", it may not even notable enough for its own article. Perhaps there is enough written to have an article on non-metal polymers or chains, or more generically the topology. Compared to the others "H" would be more similar to the halogens though. As categorisation, it may not matter, as the nonmetal category is not that large, and going by groups like chalogenide or pnictide is adequate for my use. One thing that would be useful, and may even be there already is a "related" section which says what elements are similar, and why. For the elements project, it appears there is difficulty finding consensus as many have strong justified opinions. Normally I would keep to chemical compounds, but I may participate in featured article review for elements. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:46, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Graeme. You raise some good points, and get to the nub of the matter.

The real issue is the gap, in classification science terms. By this I mean the metals start out loud and proud, as alkali metals; alkaline earth metals; Ln/An; transition metals; and post-transition metals. Then there are the reasonably well established metalloids, even though their boundary can move around a bit. When it comes to the first of the really well recognised nonmetals there is a train wreck of classification science. They could as well be called the no-name nonmetals. Then follow the well-known halogen nonmetals; and the noble gases.

A Google Scholar search for “co-active metal/s” yields several hits. I guess a chemist who saw "coactive nonmetals" might wonder what they are if unfamiliar with the "coactive" adjective. They might look up coactive in a dictionary, or they might look at the nonmetal article, and see we are referring to the erstwhile “other nonmetals". At which point they might say, ah the term is unfamiliar, but the category, as other nonmetals, is. Now I get it. Much better than "other" which coveys nothing obvious about the characteristics involved.

Yes, the nonmetals can be traversed by groups 1, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18; or via three categories.

Coactive nonmetals may be a rare case that meets the exception provided for by our neologism policy…

”In a few cases, there will be notable topics which are well-documented in reliable sources, but for which no accepted short-hand term exists. It can be tempting to employ a neologism in such a case. Instead, it is preferable to use a title that is a descriptive phrase in plain English if possible, even if this makes for a somewhat long or awkward title.”

…and perhaps warrants a touch of WP:BOLD.

As you noted, the phrase "coactive nonmetal" isn't in the literature. The closest link is that the coactive nonmetals have (organo-)catalytic applications; that coactive is a synonym for catalytic; and that coactive encompasses the various other synergic aspects of the coactive nonmetals.

There is a further pleasing link to the nature of the nonmetals involved in that a subtle meaning of "other" is "existing besides". Synonyms for "besides" include "in conjunction with" (here “conjunctive” means, "relating to or forming a connection or combination of things"); “conjointly"; and "jointly".

In summary, while the category concerned already exists it’s let down by its non-defining-characteristic name. It seems like a small step from “other” to “coactive”. The first term seemingly means nothing meaningful; the second may be unfamiliar but is rich with meaning. —- Sandbh (talk) 11:38, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Graeme, it seems like a completely generic term would be pre-halogen nonmetal as that is what they are, no more, no less. Your thoughts? thank you, René (Sandbh (talk) 06:31, 21 August 2020 (UTC))[reply]
That one sounds self-explanatory. However do the non-metals need to be further sub-categorised? I could imagine when organising binary chemical compounds we could have hydrides, halogenides, oxides, other chalcogenides, and the rest as pre-calcogenides (incl pnictides, carbides, silicides, and borides). Hydrogen does not fall into the pre-halogens cleanly though, so we would not be sure if it was in or out. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:27, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the rapid feedback Graeme. Much appreciated.

Further sub-categorisation: Introductory inorganic chemistry is traditionally taught by contrasting the alkali metals with the halogens. Currently, we mush the halogen nonmetals into the same category as the other nonmetals.

In the literature of concern the focus is on navigating the periodic table. The basic approach is metal-nonmetals or metals-metalloids-nonmetals. From there, the metals are chunked into e.g. alkali and alkaline earths, lanthanoids and actinoids; transition metals; and post-transition metals. On the nonmetal side of chunking, the halogens are stand-outs, as are the noble gases. The remaining non-metals are classification science poor cousins. I suspect this arises from them not having a unifying term "other" than "other", which sounds like it's just the grab-bag of what doesn't have any other unifying theme ("everything that isn't something else in particular"). This is odd as all of the shared characteristics of interest are in the literature, including for hydrogen.

If you have any remaining concerns I'm all (cold when I want for a walk this afternoon) ears. René (Sandbh (talk) 08:28, 21 August 2020 (UTC))[reply]

List of Chemical db

[edit]

Hi Graeme

Great work on producing the list of chemical databases. As you know, I've added a couple of bits of information for what I think will be a very useful resource.

On my browser and desktop PC, the current list is way too wide, mainly because of the link column. By using {{cite web}} tags instead, it's easy to reduce the size of that column, as seen in my sandbox "here".. You could even surround them with ref tags to duplicate everything within the Reflist, although personally I think that's not needed for a list page like this. If you like this idea, I'll happily incorporate it into the main article. Another couple of suggestions: a) I don't think that the ID column adds much useful information and it could be deleted and b) what did you intend should go into the "review" column? Again, perhaps delete to reduce the width? Michael D. Turnbull (talk) 10:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Michael D. Turnbull: I think it is a good idea to compact the url column. Though I am unconvinced by some of the titles used in the sandbox. access sort of makes sense, but "limited access" with a link is a bit confusing. Limited access meant that you had to satisfy some condition to register, eg be in the UK, or be an academic, but not commercial user. Pay to view means that you can do a search to see that a record exists, but you only get to see the content if you pay up. The quotes on those titles are just wasting space though. Another term might be "search", if it is a search page. The id column was to identify the prefix of identifiers used. So for example if you see an id of "CPD0000000" it probably comes from the ModelSeed database. The review column was supposed to point to a reference that talked about the content of the database, ie reviewed the database. This column could be removed until there is content though if the table is too wide. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:16, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Graeme Bartlett: OK, I'll take a stab at updating the article, removing the "review" column for now: in many cases the linked WP article does the job of a review. I'll add the tag |url-access=registration, limited or subscription to the access links that are not free and try a better |title= for the majority. I don't know how to avoid the quote marks, as they seem to be a feature of the way that {{cite web}} works and you can't leave out the title or you get a red "missing or empty title" error. I hope to be done by the end of today. Michael D. Turnbull (talk) 13:11, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done In the main I used the same name as column 1 for the access title. I'll continue to update things when I have time. One minor point: I accessed ACToR (EPA) from the link and discovered they now prefer users to go to their Comptox chemistry dashboard. You might like to check it out and remove ACToR if it is indeed redundant. Michael D. Turnbull (talk) 14:18, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

By accident, I came across this article in wikibooks:Chemical_Information_Sources/SIRCh/Chemistry_Databases_on_the_Web today. Were you aware of it? I've not yet checked all the details but it may have additional db worth adding to the list. Meanwhile I've put a link to it at the top of the list of chemical databases. Michael D. Turnbull (talk) 11:13, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was not aware, so i am pleased yoi found it. I was looking for one entry from there, and it suffered from link rot and was superseded. But that list is a good source of more things. Some are not for chemicals though, so we should not add everything. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:36, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why not "sulphur"?

[edit]

It can be spelt as sulphur. It was spelt as sulphur in the past. IUPAC isn't always the standard. Also you claim that you're homophobic on your page. LeticiaLL (talk) 11:31, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It used to be spelled that way, but in scientific articles we now use "sulfur" in all English language variants. You are misrepresenting the claim on my user page. Anyway the situation is described at WIKIPEDIA:SULFUR. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:53, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Methyl hexanoate

[edit]

It is an article right and help add values and things. Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 05:29, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I mean Methyl hexanoate is an article Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 05:30, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I mean It is an article right now. Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 05:30, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the alert. I also noticed that it had been moved, as it was on my watchlist. Keep on making chemical pages as there are still a lot missing! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:36, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is messed again. It seems that you can help. Please . Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 08:34, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Nihaal The Wikipedian: I have fixed Methyl hexanoate, I hope. I fixed a heading, used * on the beginning of each list entry, and move the reference into the body, that is simpler. Also I used the wrong parameter name for FlashPtF, now fixed. What is taxonbar for? It sounds like a living organism thingy. If you use my talk page, you don't also have to use someone else's talk page to talk to me! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:35, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The taxon bar says that my article is a stub class . It is not that taxonomy biology term . You can help expanding it. Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 11:43, 13 August 2020 (UTC) And also I have a plan to create an article called benzothiadiazole. It is also from PubChem.Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 11:56, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The {{Ester-stub}} adds the stub template. What I am doing is going through a couple of chemical dictionaries to find chemicals that we are missing out on having articles. My list is here: User:Graeme Bartlett/missing chemicals Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:57, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help over here. Thanks.Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 05:45, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please write some facts about this chemical that prove it is notable, or important! Mere existence is not really enough to have a Wikipedia article. Appearance in pubchem means nothing either! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:53, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have already done something and a page says like this chemical is giving gene resistance or whatever to wheat.Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 04:16, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Now I am planning to create 1,2,3-Benzothiadiazole. I am going to send the link tomorrow.Nihaal The Wikipedian (talk) 04:13, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P V Vartak as RS or not

[edit]

Can you please take a look at my talk on Rigveda with Joshua Jonathan and others? My question is if an author has their books translated and published by independent publishers (you can see examples on "article for deletion page on Vartak") how is he not acceptable as RS? Senior admins seem to making personal judgement calls by calling him merely self-published rather than addressing the fact that his books have been published by other publishers too.ga11 (talk) 14:17, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
