Hi Casprings, I'm beginning the copy-edit you requested for the above article at the GOCE Request page. Please feel free to contact me, or to correct or revert my changes if I'm doing something I shouldn't. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 21:12, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
- Done - I don't think there's anything else I can do there at the moment. I see the article's a GA candidate, so i wish you good luck with it. :-) My only suggestions might be to add an infobox and navbox, and to convert the references into a single format, preferably 'cite' format - though the latter isn't a GA requirement. I moved a lot of text onto the talk page for various reasons, listed there. I hope it's been useful; feel free to contact me about any issues arising from the copy-edit. Hi Casprings, I'm currently reviewing the article you nominated for good status (Rape and pregnancy controversies in United States elections, 2012) . Thank you for the nomination, I will let you know the conclusion of the review when it's completed. TotallyNotEtreo 18:40, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Etreo again. The article that you nominated passed the review, and is now a good article. I know you were interested in it one day reaching Featured standard, and my only recommendation would be that some more of the Republican perspective. Though admittedly it might be better to get the advice of a more experienced reviewer for Featured content than me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TotallyNotEtreo (talk • contribs) 20:57, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Casprings, After some degree of research on FA articles, I struck my previous comments. I think it is unreasonable to expect a recent news article to have the same level of scholarly research as an event that occurred decades ago. I found two examples of recent election articles that have no academic references, and are feature articles. Furthermore, I found 2 university textbooks and 2 journal articles that state that the rape and pregnancy controversies likely affected election results. Feel free to use those references or not. I have a new posting at WP:FAC, and I stand by my earlier vote of support for this article's FA status. DavidinNJ (talk) 03:17, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Got your messgae. That's fine if you don't want to use the refs. I don't think that it's necessary to have academic references. DavidinNJ (talk) 03:08, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 21
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rape and pregnancy controversies in United States elections, 2012, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tom Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Concensus cannot overide WP policies. You do not seem to understand this in the least. Arzel (talk) 14:49, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- It has not been resolved. Your removal of the tags is improper. Furthermore, discussion on the talk page is now split. Please do not remove the tag again until there is resolution, especially with false edit statements like you did. Arzel (talk) 19:11, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Closing DRN case
[edit]Thanks for trying to close it yourself after you noticed that. I think it probably would have taken it off the list the next time it was updated (it's updated by a bot every half hour), but closing and archiving is the right way to do it - I've closed it for you, and it will be archived and removed from the list in 24 hours. User RFC
[edit]Hello! Thank you for your recent inquiry about another editor, with whom I've had a long history over the years. It sounds like not much has changed, and you're running into the same behaviors that I experienced when I was more active. While I completely share your frustration, I no longer have the time to dedicate to Wikipedia as I once did. Also, I have concerns with the efficacy and methodology of the way Wikipedia deals with these sorts of issues -- essentially, I'm not sure I have faith that the community can effectively deal with his sort of behavior at all. So, all that bundled together means I'm pretty much over it... So, you're welcome to reference my past dealings if you proceed, and it's likely I will eventually weigh in if the community takes the RFC seriously, but I would prefer not to be a co-sponsor or whatever. Best of luck! //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 00:02, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

[edit]You know that what you did could be considered WP:STALKING. Aside from that did you actually review any of the material that you put back into that article? Much of what that IP added is linked back to http://www.catskillcitizens.org/ which is an activist organization against fracking in NY. A Google search search of the first paper added by the IP shows no results. I did quite a bit of searching to find out more about that paper, but was unable to find that paper. All I was able to find was a similarly named article linking back to anti-fracking activist groups. This is enough evidence to revert what this IP did as non-RS material and NPOV activism. - Please note that mass posting about your intent for an RfC/U may be considered a violation of WP:CANVASS. An RfC/U which is tainted by such canvassing may be judged under WP:False consensus dicta from ArbCom. Cheers. Collect (talk) 18:38, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- I submitted this to ANI as a violation of Canvass after reading the tone of your message. You clearly are presenting this as if I should be topic banned. Arzel (talk) 19:54, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- @Arzel: For what it's worth, I personally didn't perceive the notification as a suggestion that you be topic banned. — C M B J 09:31, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- @Casprings: Given the circumstances, and if this RFC should proceed, I'd like to suggest that you propose exclusion of topic bans from its designated resolutions. — C M B J 09:31, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Casprings, Listen, you made a mistake but we all do. Don't feel bad about this in any way. You saw an opportunity to improve the editing of the project and you began the effort. I believe that your efforts were not in vain. There will be additional scrutiny of editing by Arzel and other editors who took the time to read the RFC will no doubt think harder about the issues you highlighted. Keep your. Capitalismojo (talk) 16:20, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
please correct your comment
[edit]I would note that the ArbCom case on the TPM does not have me as a party, and so your comment on the RfC/U is quite misleading. Please correct it. Thanks. Collect (talk) 18:52, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- That is correct. Also, I notice you've claimed that Xenophrenic is a party to the ArbCom proceeding. That is a false statement, since Xenophrenic is not listed among the named parties. [1] Please refactor your statement at Xenophrenic's RfC/U to reflect the truth of the matter. Furthermore, the ANI thread on the Tea Party movement article was pretty much wrapped up on February 26 and was limited to behavior on TPm. And I believe the main objection to sanctioning Xenophrenic at the ANI was the absence of any evidence posted by North8000. That won't be a problem this time, Casprings. I've posted a lot of evidence strictly limited to Xenophrenic's edits from April 1 to today, on articles and pages related to U.S. politics that (with the exception of one incident) are unrelated to TPm. I'll start including TPm, and working backward from April 1 on the other articles, in further evidentiary posts in the morning. regards .... Phoenix and Winslow (talk) 04:22, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
- While I am not specifically listed among the initial "parties" to the case, Casprings' comments are certainly not misleadingly false. As noted by Arbiter User:SilkTork here: Xenophrenic's status in this case is that they are one of the individuals whose conduct is being examined regarding the editing of the Tea Party movement article, and the ANI incident that led to the case being opened.
- It's true that there was no support for sanctions against me at ANI because of the absence of any evidence posted by North8000, but not for his lack of trying. He posted multiple diffs that he claimed (and apparently still believes) indicated some level of inappropriate behavior, but they did not. P&W has started adding diffs now, but I haven't yet looked closely at them. A cursory glance tells me that he has indeed established that I have edited articles on Wikipedia. We'll see if his diffs show inappropriate behavior. Xenophrenic (talk) 07:29, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the note
[edit]I got your note regarding the RFC/U. Yes, I am aware of it. I've left a couple comments on the Talk page associated with it, but I have refrained from editing the RFC/U page while Phoenix and Winslow is assembling his information. Also, thank you for the View/Comment you left at that RFC/U. Regards, Xenophrenic (talk) 07:29, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

[edit]We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions
[edit]We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
- Sources
- For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

Re: moderated discussion at Tea Party movement
[edit]As a complete newcomer to the Tea Party movement moderated discussion, you are clearly unaware that many of these discussions are completed, action has already been taken if appropriate, and we have moved on. Your edit summary, in reverting the manual archiving of part of the page, indicated that you had just commented in one of the sections that was subsequently archived. The whole truth of the matter is that you had "voted" in a survey where all the other "votes" were posted roughly a month ago, and the discussion had been completed. We have moved on.
Accordingly, I am reverting your restoration of that material on the Moderated Discussion page. Please add your comments and "votes" only to discussions and surveys that are active. One of the reasons why I'm starting to manually archive this material is to any such confusion for you and any other newcomers to the page. have an issue with this procedure, please take it up with SilkTork. regards ... Phoenix and Winslow (talk) 18:00, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Reset
[edit]Look, this is spiraling out of control. The path we're going down right now is leading toward you getting fed up and frustrated with Wikipedia and retiring/leaving and no body wants that. Let's hit the reset button, close the RFCs and the ANI thread, and we'll go back and try to solve this on the article's talk page. If you feel Arzel is a POV pusher, there are only two ways to deal with that: 1) Have exemplary behavior so that only Arzel stands out when reviewing conduct at ANI, or 2) Engage with Arzel and bring him into the fold on a collaborative level. I'm willing to help you do both. All you have to do is hit the reset button, what do you say?--v/r - TP 11:50, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- I came here to say something similar. You don't need to feel that the article will go to hell if you don't do everything - it's high-traffic and the people trying to reduce its compliance with WP policy are in a minority. Let them dig themselves into their own hole. Make sure you're behaving as you should behave. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:38, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

If you would like, re-add the comment to your own opening, but not to another's as opening comments are not discussion either. Sorry if this is inconvenient in any way.--Amadscientist (talk) 08:23, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

Rape and pregnancy controversies in United States elections, 2012
[edit]Hi Casprings, I've begun working on the copy-edit you requested at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page for the article Rape and pregnancy controversies in United States elections, 2012. Please feel free to contact me and to correct or revert my edits if necessary. I will be editing/fixing prose errors, not fixing the content or references. A GOCE copy-edit doesn't guarantee a pass at GA or FA. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 02:15, 12 August 2013 (UTC) |
Hello, Casprings. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Rape and pregnancy controversies in United States elections, 2012 at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Despite my comments above I added some new text and two references; I hope they add balance to the article. Good luck with your planned FA nom, though judging by the last one I strongly suggest seeking a Peer Review first. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 03:50, 13 August 2013 (UTC) |

Disambiguation link notification for September 13
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tea Party movement, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TARP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. DP 20:19, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of that. I don't know if you use Twinkle or are interested, but it makes it really easy to do a report to AIV, RPP, or ANEW, any of which would also have worked in this case. Cheers!— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 20:37, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

You were recently listed as a party to a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/American politics. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/American politics/Evidence. Please add your evidence by May 4, 2014, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/American politics/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. For the Arbitration Committee, S Philbrick(Talk) 15:41, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
One additional note regarding parties
[edit]Your original case request included the note:
- Numerous other editors who took part in the WP:RFC/U
Per discussion with arbs and clerks, no one from this list, except those who might already be parties, or involved parties who commented, have been notified.
An arbitrator plans to enquire regarding the appropriate parties, and additional names can be added then. For the Arbitration Committee, --S Philbrick(Talk) 16:03, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
Invitation join the new Physiology Wikiproject!
[edit]Based on the long felt gap for categorization and improvization of WP:MED articles relating to the field of physiology, the new WikiProject Physiology has been created. WikiProject Physiology is still in its infancy and needs your help. On behalf of a group of editors striving to improve the quality of physiology articles here on Wikipedia, I would like to invite you to come on board and participate in the betterment of physiology related articles. Help us to jumpstart this WikiProject.
- Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
- You can tag the talk pages of relevant articles with {{WikiProject Physiology|class=|importance=}} with your assessment of the article class and importance alongwith. Please note that WP:Physiology, WP:Physio, WP:Phy can be used interchangeably.
- You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing physiology articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
- We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
- Why not try and strive to create a good article! Physiology related articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!
- Your contributions to the WikiProject page, related categories and templates is also welcome.
- To invite other editors to this WikiProject, copy and past this template (with the signature):
{{subst:WP Physiology–invite}}
~~~~
- To welcome editors of physiology articles, copy and past this template (with the signature):
{{subst:WP Physiology–welcome}}
~~~~
- You can feel free to contact us on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. You can also put your suggestions there and discuss the scope of participation.
Hoping for your cooperation! DiptanshuTalk 12:48, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Casprings, I've removed a large section of text at Wikipedia_talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/American_politics/Evidence#Hail_and_Farewell, which made your subsequent edit look kind of like it came from out of left field without the context, so I removed it too. Concerns over your massive deletion of properly sourced material.
[edit]You blanked several lines, but my chief concern is with your removal of this notable fact providing warranted historical perspective. A total of 52 films were scored an "A+" by CinemaScore from 1982 to 2011, as most films are usually given a lower grade.[1][2] A movie getting an A+ is a rare feat and a big deal. Your edit summary didn't explain your deletion of this segment. I can live with removing the rest (the bottom portion was a vestigial remnant first added by a liberal editor trying to play down the A+ rating; funny how it only became unacceptable after the strong second weekend reversed the point he had been trying to make), but I'll ask that you reconsider removing the sentence illustrating the A+ score's historical rarity. It's at least as pertinent to the article as the line about the film not doing as well as D'Souza's previous movie. If nothing else perhaps you could re-add it and instead start a discussion on the talk page about whether it should be removed.
I'll add that, while I agree that fans rating it high could theoretically be a function of them being conservative (like critics panning it might just reflect their liberal POV, which is even more likely), the current language should be tweaked to show that Cinemascore does poll those who saw the movie, not just "cinemagoers", since the latter doesn't specify which movie they saw. Ping
[edit]The ping was simply adding a belt to the suspenders. I'm already following the NPOVN and article. So I can't be canvassed. I do hope some of the personal commentary can be toned down. That's why I mentioned AGF with regards to you. I hope you'll do the same as to me by not thinking I am the most sympathetic of the commentators. (For example, I downplayed the importance of the positive audience survey material by putting it into a footnote.) Thanks. – S. Rich (talk) 19:08, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Movie Review
[edit]Hello Casprings. WP policy is that the burden is on those who wish to include contested material. It is they who must win consensus that the material is noteworthy and well-sourced. Please consider undoing your re-insertion of material which I just removed for that reason per the concerns of editors on talk. Thanks. SPECIFICO talk 18:54, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- FYI, WP:BURDEN applies to verifiability, not whether the material is "contested". (E.g., BURDEN does not talk about noteworthiness.) In the case of Avi Offer, it is verified/well-sourced. But it is a moot point. I've swapped out Avi's blog for a published review. I applaud your efforts to achieve a NPOV balance in the section. – S. Rich (talk) 19:07, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested
[edit]The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "America: Imagine the World Without Her". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 24 January 2015.
Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.
Message delivered by MediationBot (talk) on behalf of the Mediation Committee. 19:17, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
I'm going to respond at Talk:America: Imagine the World Without Her tomorrow. Otherwise, it is too easy to go back and forth so many times, and the talk page has already suffered plenty from that. I recommend that you do not get too caught up in that back-and-forth. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 19:41, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
Note
[edit]Cwobeel violated BLP policy repeatedly by restoring an entirely unsourced page entirely under BLP. Then after having it reverted, he edit warred and was disruptive by using a single IMDB source - not even in line - as justification to reinstate all the content. The source did not even match the content in full and the material was also had multiple errors. He can appeal the restriction, but Arb Com already explicitly endorses discretionary sanctions for BLPs and Cwobeel decided to edit war and violate BLP. Just food for thought. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 21:25, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]The request for formal mediation concerning America: Imagine the World Without Her, to which you were listed as a party, has been declined. To read an explanation by the Mediation Committee for the rejection of this request, see the mediation request page, which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time. Please direct questions relating to this request to the Chairman of the Committee, or to the mailing list. Arbcom
[edit]I believe that arbitration deals strictly with editor behavioral issues and for them to accept a case, you have to provide specific incidents where editor behavior was addressed through formal processes, like ANI and the sort. I'm not sure about this though. I believe those are suppose to be stepping stones and if the editor continues poor behavior, then arbcom steps in. I could be mistaken though. Scoobydunk (talk) 15:23, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Casprings, I hope you can see which way the wind is blowing in this matter. Comments from the parties and from the arbitrators indicate this is simply an article content matter. Basically you have not laid out a case about Victor (or any other editor) and since Victor has not been sanctioned (or even warned) about behavior issues, the Arbcom will not take any action to "break the back" of this on-going content dispute. I am certain your request will meet a slow death as the arbitrators either "await" or "decline".
- There is (from what I see) no procedure by which the requesting party may formally withdraw an Arbcom request. But I think if you were to "
strike out" your original request and say "I hereby withdraw my Arbcom request" it would be enough to get the Arbcom to close the case. At that point you will be free to post a WP:DRN request about article content. Please take my recommendations to heart. Thanks. – S. Rich (talk) 06:21, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- Well I will attempt to make the case a little better. If they don't take the case, they don't take the case. I still feel this a behavior problem. Casprings (talk) 17:07, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- This diff is listed twice: [3] (#17 & #29) – S. Rich (talk) 17:28, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
[edit]Hello, Casprings. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
