Suggestions

[edit]

I love how much this article has improved. I have a few suggestions to help continue to improve. The article would primarily benefit from improvement on in text citation, additional blue links and images. Perhaps linking the page to other relevant topics would help as well.

Editing & Restructuring

[edit]

Currently "Child marriage in Afghanistan" has very sparse information over the phenomenon of child marriage, as well as minimal links, causing it to be flagged as an orphan article. To improve this page I plan to make the following changes:

  • While the Introduction does have some important statistics, I believe this information would fit better under certain subheadings, so I will remove it and add it elsewhere. For the Introduction, I will add some introductory statistics, as well as a definition of child marriage and what its extent in Afghanistan.
  • For the rest of the article, I plan to reorganize and/or add the following subheadings: History, Reasons for Child Marriage, and Effects, with a focus on Health, Education, and Domestic Violence. Additionally, I will add a section detailing any International recommendations and another over Cultural References.
  • Currently, under each subheading, there is very little information, and some sections have as little as one sentence. I plan to incorporate information from various sources to provide an accurate, overall depiction of the child marriage phenomenon in Afghanistan. I will also link other sources into my article in order to rid the article of being flagged as orphan.
  • Lastly, I will incorporate a See Also section at the end in order to provide the reader with more information about child marriage, as well what this phenomenon looks like in other countries.

I am open to any questions, comments, or advise! JOzuna25 (talk) 19:15, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review

[edit]

Joyce, the article is comprehensive, including related laws, causes, effects and international reactions. You may add some more information on related programs carried out by international organizations. You may also refer to more scholar references, as for now, some sections/subsections only involve one main reference. In addition, more illustrations can be added to the entry. For example, you can add some pictures of a victim and her husband or of a victim and her child. Revising some long sentences (rewriting or splitting them into two) can also contribute to the article. I am looking forward to reading your final contribution. Evaluation

[edit]

The article looks to be well-researched and provides a detailed account of the prevalence, causes, and consequences of child marriage in Afghanistan. It also includes statistics and data from credible sources to support the claims made in the article. However, some of the information provided in the article is based on outdated or incomplete data because the most recent data cited is from 2018. The article appears to be neutral in tone and does not really take a biased view on the issue of child marriage in Afghanistan. It presents the facts and information on the issue without taking a particular side or advocating for a specific agenda. The article covers various aspects of child marriage in Afghanistan, including its causes, laws, and the efforts being made to address the issue. The article also includes a section on the cultural and religious factors that contribute to child marriage in Afghanistan, providing an informative discussion of the topic. However, the article could be improved by including more information on the psychological and emotional impact of child marriage on girls and not only the physical impacts. The article is well-organized and easy to follow, with clear headings and subheadings that break up the information into manageable sections. The article also includes links to other relevant pages and resources, making it easy for readers to explore the topic further. However, some sections could benefit from additional subheadings or bullet points to make the information more digestible and easier to understand. Overall, the Wikipedia article on "Child Marriage in Afghanistan" is a well-researched, neutral, comprehensive, and well-organized resource that provides valuable information on an important and sensitive topic. However, it could be improved by updating some of the data and providing more information on the psychological and emotional impact of child marriage.
