COI edit requests for Stash

Hi all, a few months ago Stash (company) had a lot of its content stripped out due to COI interference, and is currently a stub. Stash has hired me to work on fleshing out the article ethically and transparently with content that meets Wikipedia's standards for notability and neutrality. To that end, I've shared a few COI edit requests on the article's talk page. If anyone here would be willing to take a look and offer help or feedback, I'd tremendously appreciate it. Thank you! MaryGaulke, the best thing to do is start with the talk page and request specific edits which it appears you already have. Then, you need to place {{request edit}} template on the talk page, or by posting a note at the COI noticeboard, so that they can be peer reviewed. I would suggest using the former and awaiting for a reply prior to going to the noticeboard. Give it time and if no one responds, please come back here and let someone know.

@CNMall41: Thanks for the reply! Previously on that same Talk page I did use the request edit template, but the request was rejected and I was asked to find consensus because my requests were controversial. I disagree that the requests were controversial, but that's not for me to decide, so I'm asking around here to try to get some consensus, rather than pinging the request edit queue a second time, which would likely get me the same result. MaryGaulke, I am not sure what is controversial about the edits you are requesting. You should first reach out to the editor who declined the request and ask what the controversy is. @CNMall41: Based on further discussion, my understanding is that Justlettersandnumbers takes issue with the fact that my edit request is coming from a non-neutral point of view. They also see the requests as in violation of WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Again, I disagree—particularly in the case of the stripped-down, revised requests I posted, which I genuinely believe are neutral and make the article more useful and informative—but again, that's not for me to decide. If at all possible, I'd like to have additional feedback; even if it's a rejection of my suggestions, it will inform my future work. I'm grateful for any help from anyone here. Thank you. MaryGaulke, it appears that you are in discussion on the talk page and that Justlettersandnumbers is actively discussing content with you. I normally don't like to get involved at all, but will do so if no one else is reviewing your request (which is not the case here). I would suggest continuing dialogue with JLAN and if you cannot reach a consensus, you have other options such as WP:3O and WP:RFC where you can elicit opinions from a broader audience in Wikipedia. Hi all, this is a longshot but I've had an extremely challenging time getting a consistent response to these requests. Based on comparable articles (Mint.com, Qapital, TransferWise, You Need a Budget and Robinhood (company)), I've revised my requests, here. (Please note the editor with whom I was previously conversing has declined to respond further.) I apologize for my persistence here – it's highly atypical of me – but I truly believe this article stub could benefit from the addition of some basic information. Thanks for your time. I normally step in if a regular Wikipedia reviewer requests or the COI editor is having difficulty obtaining help. In this case, it appears that editors have helped, just not provided a solution that is satisfactory to you. @CNMall41: I really appreciate your time here. To quickly recap the history of what happened: my client had a history of editing outside of Wikipedia policy, resulting in the article being gutted to stub status. Stash then reached out to me to try to go about things in a more ethical way. I proposed edits that are in line with the substance, structure, and tone of many comparable articles, with full third-party sources. These edits were rejected almost exclusively because they came from a disclosed paid editor. I then significantly reduced the scope of my requests. I received limited feedback on the revised requests, to which I replied. The second editor then also declined to engage with me further due to being too busy, and suggested that I involve a third editor. It's now been three full months since I started working on this. I can't help but think that my client would have been better off working with a black hat editor who just quietly made the changes, and I hate that. (And to be clear, I personally would never engage in undisclosed paid editing; disclosed paid editing is emotionally exhausting enough.) I don't know what else to do. I've been doing this work for five years, I believe in Wikipedia and want to protect its neutrality, and this is the single most frustrating project I've ever worked on. I am happy to pull back on client requests when they're rejected for valid reasons aligned with Wikipedia policy – I never promise definitive results to my clients – but I don't believe that's the case here. I know you owe me nothing, but I wanted to at least try to explain. I know this is an imperfect system we have here, and that paid editors are a nuisance, but I am doing my best to work within the rules and not be part of the problem. Thank you again. MaryGaulke, I am sorry as I read your frustration, but I am not the one to turn to for help with that. You would be better going to WP:COIN if you have issues with the process itself. As far as the request you made, I still feel you have not exhausted your available avenues. The link you sent me does not show that Reidgreg "declined to engage with [you] further." The message was that they would not have time until the new year. Have you reached back out to them like I suggested above? I will review the request but only after you have exhausted the "edit request" process. Hi there. Most editors are unpaid volunteers, and it may not be fair to place demands on them. Third opinions are meant for quick answers and advice, and that was all I could really offer. I'm just another editor and my opinion on the matter was non-binding. There might be some COI/Paid editing involved since the two accounts primarily editing it are also brand new WP:SPAs. Change Amalgamated Bank's opening paragraph

In the current opening of the article for Amalgamated bank it says that it is the largest union owned bank, however that is no longer the case since the company went public in August of 2018. Unobjectiveness flag on Datalogic page

Good morning everybody, I write to ask for an opinion about the flag of "content written like an advertisement" which is currently displayed on the "Datalogic" page. The page was completely re-written in the past months, and the flagged issue of promotionality has been handled several times by different users to eliminate unobjectiveness as much as possible (as reported in the Discussion page). May it be enough to do eliminate the flag, or is there anything else to be done to fit at the very best the Wikipedia content guidelines, in your opinion? The tag was added by JJMC89. I would suggest asking them if they feel the issues have been addressed. I took a quick look and in my opinion is still reads like a promotional resume for the company. SkyWay Group

We could use some experienced editors over at SkyWay Group. The article has undergone a transformation over the past month to better reflect RS coverage, changing focus from the technical details of the product and proposed projects (5 February version) to primarily covering their financial dealings (24 February version). There's a lot of discussion on the talk page about scandals and various items that could be added to the article, so it would help to have a few more eyes to assess the quality of this content and develop a better structure for the article. –dlthewave ☎ 20:53, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

Dlthewave, am I reading correctly about the previous AfD? When I click on the deletion discussion from the talk page, it takes me here for the term String transport. Looks like the term was redirected into the company page so it gives the appearance that the company page previously went through AfD. I will look more tomorrow, but just at a glance I am not sure the company meets WP:NCORP (hence the reason I looked at the previous discussion to find out why it was kept). --CNMall41 (talk) 07:14, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

See the move discussion here. "String transport" is a term coined by SkyWay to describe their transportation concept, and that article covered both the company and the technology. The claims and descriptions of the technology were sourced entirely to the SkyWay website, with no secondary coverage to be found. We trimmed all of the self-sourced content and replaced it with information about their questionable financial dealings which is the only thing about the company that has been covered by reliable sources.

I don't think the deletion discussion adequately considered the fact that much of the article was self-sourced. –dlthewave ☎ 13:48, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, Dlthewave. That makes more sense now that you point things out and I see with a fresh set of eyes today. I am still not sure the company meets WP:NCORP. There is some coverage, mainly negative, but what I see boils down to routine annoucements about the company and nothing really that meets WP:CORPDEPTH. Question about sourcing

Hi there, I'm Lauren, an employee of Rodan+Fields. I'm interested in assisting the Wikipedia community to improve the existing Rodan + Fields article. In my suggested updates on the Rodan+Fields Talk page, I've offered Bloomberg Businessweek as a source to verify the company's revenue, but was told this source is not acceptable. Might someone take a look at this and recommend an appropriate way to verify a private company's revenue that is acceptable to Wikipedia editors? Thank you! Draft Coty, Inc. article

Hello. Over the last few months, I've been working with Coty, Inc. to draft an updated and better-sourced Wikipedia article. I received some help from User:Fylbecatulous, but learned they are deceased, so I am hoping to get some help from another editor. I have disclosed my COI appropriately, and won't be editing the article directly. I'm looking for editors to review my proposed draft and update the live article. I'm working section by section, and so far I've submitted a request to update part of the "History" section. Are any project members willing to take a look?

"Mobil" (and Mobiloil) origin?

In the page Vacuum Oil Company it's said that the Mobil trademark born in 1899, created by Vacuum as Mobilgas. In Mobil I read that "In 1920, the company registered the name "Mobiloil" as a trademark". In an Italian 1925 magazine I read that Vacuum sells the "Gargoyle Mobiloil". Vacuum and Socony merged in 1931. There is something wrong. --Moxmarco (talk) 10:37, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

The wording in the Vacuum Oil Company page says, "It originated the Mobil trademark in 1899 (as "Mobilgas;" "Mobiloil" came later)." If I understand that correctly, the trademark "Mobile" was registered in 1899 and the trademark "Mobiloil" came later which would very well could be 1920 (I didn't check the reference on the Mobiloil page but the dates seem to line up to me). Utility Warehouse - Problem with Citations

Hi,

I tried making an edit to the Utility Warehouse article by giving some information about their QUIP scheme. For my citation, I thought the best reference would be the Utility Warehouse website itself, as they have an entire web page dedicated to providing information about the scheme. However, I was unable to do this as the utilitywarehouse.co.uk domain is apparently blocked and on a blacklist with Wikipedia?

I couldn't find an alternative source to cite, but feel it would be necessary to provide a reference of some kind. What should I do?

Georgecinderfan, Wikipedia is based on reliable secondary sources. The company website would not be independent and therefore should not be used. Requesting feedback on section within Realtor.com article

Hello! In the past, I've worked with Wikipedia editors to improve the Realtor.com article on behalf of the website's operator, Move. I've declared my conflict of interest on both talk page, and elsewhere.

Recently, an unregistered editor added a "Social media concerns" section. I believe this is a case where a specific detail is being given much more weight in the article, compared to the reporting. I've provided detailed reasoning and shared sourcing on the article's talk page. User:SMcCandlish, who helped update the article previously, suggested I posted a note at the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard, which I did, but no one responded. He has suggested I submit a request for comment, but I thought I'd try here first to see if a WikiProject Companies member would take a look before I put a larger burden on the wider community.

Is an editor willing to review my argument, as well as sourcing, to see if the recently added content should be removed, or at least rephrasing the content and moving into the "History" section? Thanks for your consideration, Inkian Jason (talk) 17:09, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

I outlined some DUE/UNDUE arguments at the article's talk page, but corporate-focused articles aren't really my specialty, so this should probably get some WP:COMPANIES review. Thanks, SMcCandlish. For companies, there is always a struggle between people adding WP:PROMO and others adding WP:ADVOCACY. I normally try to address anything that smells of either and try to bring it to a WP:NPOV. In this case, it looks like the start of WP:SYNTH and should simply be removed in my opinion. One other step: if you add the text string {{request edit}} when you make the request, it add a tag that will alert a broad group of editors. Question at Roivant Sciences

Hi all. I'd appreciate some more opinions over at Roivant Sciences. There is a sentence at the end of the intro that says "In June 2018, Roivant laid off 67 employees and reassigned 130 to subsidiaries." I've requested (as a COI editor) the following change and addition in order to add some context to the layoff and reassignments:

"In June 2018, Roivant restructured its business model, laying off 67 employees and reassigning 130 to subsidiaries. Most of the cuts were in support functions including accounting, human resources, and IT as Roivant decentralized its business model, moving business and operating functions to the subsidiary level."

New Task Force for lists of corporate mergers and acquisitions?

Recently I did a major restructuring of List of mergers and acquisitions by Amazon, which gave me the idea that perhaps a task force should be set up to ensure these articles have the same structure, are updated periodically, and have enough references. Just a quick question. Are you saying only "notable acquisitions" (those that receive a fair amount of press about the aquisition or "acquisitions of companies that are notable" (companies that would likely qualify for a Wikipedia page if they have one or not)? --CNMall41 (talk) 03:12, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

I don't know what they mean by "notable" in this situation, however, I have followed a policy of not counting any companies that I cannot find at least one reliable source for, preferably near the date of the acquisition, and preferably having at least two or three reliable sources, especially in the case of more notable acquisitions. I have also not included companies when sources only mention employees of that company being "Acqui-hired" by another company, with no evidence of an actual acquisition having occurred. As long as I could find sufficient and reliable sources for an acquisition though, I attempted to make the Amazon list of acquisitions as complete as possible. That's why I am asking for clarification. I believe (although I won't assume) this is to keep spammers away from adding irrelevant companies. I have no problem adding companies to the list as long as there is a reliable secondary source that covers the merger/acquisition. When including such a company, I then create a redirect from the name so it is helpful to the readers. However, we need more than a general announcement. The references I normally look for not only discuss the acquisition, but also talks in-depth about what the company does and how the new company plans to use the acquisition (dissolve, rebrand, etc.). Are historical financial results not put in articles?

RE: mass deletions of content on 100 to 200 articles by Wikieditor600 (talk · contribs), is it true that "Historical financial results is not put in Wikipedia articles. This is not Wikinvest"? Generally these are well-sourced facts, and nuking them entirely seems to be a violation of Editing policy, such as WP:PRESERVE. I don't see a case of WP:CANTFIX. What's the WP:POLICY basis for removing this content? Shouldn't it be kept until we find a better place to move it to? Or perhaps kept right where it is? Puzzledvegetable, we try to avoid these sections per WP:CRIT. What you have in that section can easily be added to the products or the division sections which discuss the specific product. Also make sure to keep WP:UNDUE in mind so as not to make the page a sounding piece for those who don't like company. BD2412, I think the use of a single "reference" 14/46 would be excessive; however, the use of a "source" 14/46 would unlikely be excessive depending on how it is used. I don't see any reference used more than twice. If the majority of the page was cited to a single reference, there would be cause for concern but I don't see an issue with this as long as the source itself is reliable. Could someone from this WikiProject take a look at this article? It's a stub and maybe the company meets WP:NORG, but there's a declared PAID editor who's recently showed up to start editing/updating it. The editor appears to be at least trying to do this in accordance with WP:COI and WP:PAID, but the recent addition of content about the company's "mission statement" as a minor edit might not be a good sign of things to come. Resideo company page

I am employed by a communications firm, and I have been working since May 2019 to improve a draft of an article for a client, Resideo, a public company operating in the smart-home technologies marketplace. It spun off from Honeywell in October 2018. In response to feedback from Wikipedia reviewers on previous drafts, I have made improvements on sourcing and, I believe, I have removed all promotional language that may have been biased. I researched other company pages created as a result of spin offs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Corporate_spin-offs) and used them as inspiration for the Resideo article structure. Before I resubmit this for approval, I am planning to add an Infobox, but I would appreciate any other feedback that would further improve the article or any comments you have on the subject's notability. Nellie04, first, thanks for your transparency. It looks like you are in the right forum with AfC and have submitted the draft at least two prior time. I would recommend focusing on WP:ORGCRIT and not other articles in Wikipedia. While they may give you a guide on formatting, many articles on Wikipedia have issues and if you follow those issues you could wind up not have a draft that complies with guidelines. CNMall41, thank you for your recommendation to focus on the ORGCRIT guidelines. After reading through them, I conducted a citation assessment on each of the Resideo article’s 21 sources. I removed two that did not meet the “significant coverage” guideline. Here is a summary of the remaining 19 sources. All 19 are independent, third-party sources where Resideo is the focus of each article, demonstrating significant coverage. Newsguard highly rates 11 of the 19 sources for transparency and credibility; the others have yet to be reviewed. After conducting this assessment, I believe the article meets all Wikipedia publication parameters. Before I submit through AfC, do you have any further recommendations for improvement? Thanks. Advice on Cannae Holdings

Hi -- I was working today on the first company article I've attempted, and I wanted to ask someone to take a look before I publish. This is my draft about Cannae Holdings Inc (logo commented out in user space). Not being very experienced in the corporate space, I have a few questions:

• Cannae's website says they own large portions of well-known companies, such as Colt's Manufacturing Company. But I can't find much else that says so. Is their website sufficient?
• It seems that the founder of Cannae, William P. Foley II, also plays a large role in Fidelity National Financial, which some sources also say own similar companies as Cannae. I can't tell if one of these holding companies owns the other, or if they are separate, or what.
• I cited only a couple sources that I'm not sure are sufficient.

Hi - Your existing work looks fine. My understanding is that Cannae Holdings has an interest in Colt Holding (which itself owns Colt's Manufacturing Company). IWG Plc company page

I am employed by IWG plc, and I have been working since the beginning of October 2019 to improve a draft of the IWG plc article for accuracy and completeness.

In response to feedback from Wikipedia editors on Talk:IWG, I corrected inaccuracies and, with the help of editors, removed all promotional language. However, as a paid editor, it is not my place to add more information to the article about IWG and its companies, as it could naturally be perceived as "marketing."

This is why I am seeking help from the community. I would like to flag that the IWG plc article is incomplete and lacking a lot of information about the company's 30-year presence in 120 countries. Moreover, it has a low quality grade (C-Class) and has not as yet received a rating on the project's importance scale.

It would be great to have the support of some committed researchers as part of the Wikipedia community to see if we can make the page more complete.

Predecessors in Template:Infobox Company

I have concerns. The example I am looking at is Oracle Corporation:

• I take the predecessor of a company to the be previous companies coming together to form a new company under a new name, for example the British Railways being formed from the LMS+LNER+SR+GWR (there may be some more complex use cases, such Great Southern Railways, but the principal broadly holds. However I do not see it as a list of company acquisitions as seems to be the case at Oracle Corporation who I believe had no predecessor company at the time of formation.
• If there is no predecessor company the company article cannot be stopped from being usurped by Wikidata overriding P155.

New bot to remove completed infobox requests

Nationality of UK-based companies

Hello everyone. The following regards a recurring issue at Rockstar North, a video game development company based in Scotland, and similar articles. The article presently lists it as a "British" company, but this is frequently changed to "Scottish" based on the company's physical location. Some of those in favour of "Scottish" have cited WP:UKNATIONALS, an essay about what nationality UK nationals (though not companies) should be referred to by. On the other hand, I argued that "British" is correct given the company being registered with and operated under the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom. There does not appear to be a formal guideline or prior consensus for this issue, but I would like to seek the latter to settle this issue. Lordtobi (✉) 14:08, 30 December 2019 (UTC)

People and Products

Is this Wikiproject also about people who have connections to companies and products or is it exclusively about companies? If it is just about companies, it should be mentioned in the "scope" section that people and products aren't included in it or at least say somewhere that it is exclusively about companies. As there currently is a lot of articles related to both people and products in the various article lists. UUV Unmanned Underwater Vehicle A partnership with General Motors and the Office of Naval Research and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory to demonstrate utility of hydrogen fuel cell systems in unmanned undersea vehicles, or UUVs. History The current line under the History section refers to the aforementioned sale of the original GM Defense to General Dynamics. To add additional context to the company’s history and incorporate verification/sourcing, we propose removing the following copy: The original GM Defense (founded in 1950) organization and acquired by General Dynamics in 2003 and became part of the General Dynamics Land Systems division. And replacing with this updated information: General Motors founded a defense business named General Motors Defense in 1950, developing a series of military vehicles over five decades before selling the operation to General Dynamics in 2003, where it became part of the General Dynamics Land Systems division. How Much Criticism Is Too Much?

I did a rewrite on Shoney's and someone has added a bunch of information back to the article about a lawsuit. I am wondering how much criticism such as lawsuits is acceptable for company articles? The text is many paragraphs long about a single lawsuit. Maybe it is too much and maybe it is too little. Proposed Merger

Hello. I work for Executive Writing, and as part of my consultancy, I work with United Talent Agency. I am hoping someone will be willing to take a look at the N.S. Bienstock page to help determine if it should be merged to direct readers to the United Talent Agency page. United Talent Agency’s acquisition of N.S. Bienstock was widely reported in the press when it occurred in early 2014. This acquisition is already referenced and sourced on the United Talent Agency page. You can see coverage of the initial acquisition here. THE N.S. Bienstock brand has since retired and is known now as UTA News & Broadcasting. This, too, is noted on the UTA page. Article badly needed on Silicon Valley culture

An article on the work culture of Silicon Valley, possibly titled Silicon Valley culture or possibly Culture of technology companies or something, is very badly needed. We don't currently have anything like it at Silicon Valley#Culture or Culture of San Francisco, both of which just talk about museums and such, nor is there any article linked at places it should be, such as Organizational culture and Silicon Valley (TV series). Companies manufacturing Cirrus aero engines

The article at ADC Cirrus lists about half a dozen companies which manufactured one or more aero engines in this family over a 30-year period. Currently the ADC, Cirrus Aero Engines and Blackburn Aircraft companies have their own articles, of which the Cirrus Aero Engines article adds nothing new. Three other dedicated companies (one owned by Blackburn but operated independently) have no separate article. (For more background, see this discussion). I am not familiar with this project's guidelines and consensus practices. Guidance needed on how to establish notability of company

Hi, my article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Scantrust has been declined for lack of notability. I had exchanges with reviewers in the Teahouse(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse#Article_declined_for_lack_of_notability), and they consider that the articles that I indicated as being the ones who most contribute to notability, are based on interviews. However, a Wikipedia essay on notability says that "commentary added to interviews by a publication can sometimes count as secondary-source material", which is generally the case here.

At this point I am not sure if I should keep trying to make a case for notability, and how I should approach this. One approach would be to suggest a different set of sources to indicate notability that are not transparently based on interviews.

Would someone be able to help me here? I am not sure what to do next.

Please note that I have a COI that is fully disclosed on the article page, but this should not affect the evaluation of notability.

KOG Games situation

Good day everyone. I'm an independent hobbyist editor, and i've recently drawn my attention to the KOG Games page. Currently, it's a mixed jumble of KOG Studios, the South Korean developer, and KOG Games, its american subsidiary, and seemingly linked to WikiProject Companies. I'd be interested to hear some input about this - Would a seperation be better? Or transferring what matters about KOG Games to a new "KOG Studios" page? More on the Talk:KOG Games page. The article seems to be only about the American subsid, with just a few mentions of the SK entity. If the SK entity is not notable on its own, a split is not justified, as it would just create another stub. Looking at the article in its current state, I don't even think that KOG Games is notable; there are only two reliable sources (IGN, Inven), of which both are churnalism with no actual significant coverage. I might be able to properly look for sources tomorrow, although a quick glance does not raise any hopes. WP:VG/RS has a list of reliable sources for video games you may want to check out, too. Thanks for the response. I'm not very familiar with notability, so I'm not entirely sure how to estabilish the notability about a game developer. Should I look for coverage about their games or the company itself? I'd like to add what I know from my research: There isn't much coverage about KOG as a company, since the peak of popularity of their games was in the late 2000's, which makes sources sparce, and their games were published by 8 different companies across the pacific, each in different countries. KOG Games, on the other hand, is more recent and is based in America, but most coverage about it is about cancelled american ports of KOG's games, from unreliable sources like MMORPG. Yes, there should decent coverage the company as a company, not just passing mentions of the name when its games are discussed. See also WP:GNG and WP:NCORP. I checked around but couldn't find anything substantial on either topic in reliable sources apart from news bits about the acquisition/rebranding from Kill3rCombo to KOG Games, so deletion (WP:AFD) would be justified. The Brand Laureate Awards -- are they independent/reliable?

I'm working on cleaning up the promotional nature of XOX right now. The award section has "The Brand Laureate" listed a couple of times, and it seems like to nominate a company it costs around $230 US dollars (RM 1000). Would this be considered a non-significant award, since it is a partially paid process? Should this type of award be included in articles? YouTeam wiki page

Hi WikiProject Companies,

Straight ahead I want to make it clear that I (@ShevchukSS) work on YouTeam. But I have no intention of posting a promo article about this company. Let me explain the situation.

I was researching Y Combinator startups and found this List of Y Combinator startups on Wikipedia. I was surprised that not all the startups that completed the Y Combinator Accelerator program are listed there, and I thought that it can be misguiding. I tried to make an edit and added startups of the same batch with YouTeam that were not listed (including YouTeam). But my edits were not accepted because there were no wiki pages of these startups. So my logical reaction was a creation of the YouTeam wiki page (so it could be added to this list).

But the YouTeam wiki page was also deleted because of the COI. Fair enough, I didn't ad a notice about my connection with the company. But I didn't do it just because I didn't know about this at that time.

So now I want to make everything right.

- I want to ask for your permission and help to create a wiki page for YouTeam which is a Y Combinator startup and deserves to be in the list of YC startups.

- I created a draft of the page which could be used as a starting point.

- I tried to keep a neutral point of view and used only facts that could be proved by reliable sources. (But maybe the more experienced editor will help to improve the wording.)

- I structured it the same way as were structured many startup wiki pages from the list (tried to follow advice to make it similar to content that was accepted to Wikipedia).

- As was recommended, I suggested adding a YouTeam wiki page on the Wikipedia:Requested articles (check on the Y - YouTeam)

- I made a note about my connection to the company on my user page.

- And now I'm writing to you.

I hope you can help me to make it happen. I don't want to add any promotional part to this page, but I believe that as an informational piece of content it can exist.

Hi everyone, I have submitted (here) a translated version from the Italian version of the article about Mutti Spa: the Italian company specialized in preserved food in the tomato sector, founded in 1899. If you agree as well, I would move it into the mainspace. The only thing missing is the logo which, I think, has to be added once the article is published. The article seems to me well-sourced. Separate MDA Corporation from Maxar Technologies

As of April 8th, 2020, the sale the MDA assets by Maxar Technologies (NYSE:MAXR)(TSX:MAXR) to a consortium led by Toronto-based investment firm Northern Private Capital (NPC) has officially closed. This marks the return of MDA to Canadian control as a private, independent company. As such, the MDA portion is now called "MDA Corporation" and I believe that the references to MDA that currently point to the "Maxar Technologies" page should be updated to a new "MDA Corporation" page accordingly. These include links from the pages for "Spar Aerospace", "MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates", "MDA Corporation" and perhaps other references. I have added to a similar proposal on the Maxar Technologies talk page as well. How do we move this forward? Imerys

This page needs some dep-puffery. The sections needing work are marked for cleanup.

Also, there is a paid editor, Mayariebel, who is going to be requesting some changes. Please read the talk page starting with the 30 December 2020 thread Talk:Imerys § I've trimmed some unnecessary detail but more needs to be done, as I've asked her to cancel and re-do her earlier edit requests.

The end goal is to make the article up-to-date, add any encyclopedic information from the company's 140-year history if there is any, while at the same time removing existing non-encyclopedic material and re-doing things that are in a non-encyclopedic tone and keep it out. Right now it's nominally start-class, but after a little de-puffery it could probably be C-class in short order. It would be fantastic if it wound up "B-class" or better when all is said and done.

I don't have a lot of time to devote to this which is why I'm asking for help. That, and when it comes to what will likely be ongoing COI-edit-requests, several experienced editors watching the article are much better than just one. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 18:54, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I'm one of the CIO editors. I've re-written the edit requests as was asked, in the Imerys Talk page. I also made some changes to the sections "Initiatives for sustainability", "Innovations & awards" and "Imerys Talc America worker lockout" to reflect a more encyclopedic tone, doing my best to avoid any promotional content. Admittedly, some of these exist as edit requests in the Talk Page (content is identical), so if these changes are satisfactory, those requests could be closed. ZenHub page help/feedback needed

There is a startup company called ZenHub that I've created a basic article about here

I'm using the product and it's nice. I also noticed that they don't have an article yet, so I went for it. It's super basic info there, some history, and basic features. I'm just starting contributing to the wiki and I thought it's more vital to work on the cites. So, I tried submitting that for review expecting to get some feedback but they only mark it as ["too promotional"] without giving any details. Could someone please help me to improve that or at least point out why reviewers think so? I'd be glad to add any missing sections or alter any info I just need to know what's wrong. Hello! I was referred to this page by @Davidwr. In summary, I am a paid editor who wrote a draft article entry for the company that I work for (Wibbitz). The article was denied because the topic (Wibbitz) was not deemed notable enough for it to be published on Wikipedia. However, many of our competitors are already listed (Animoto and Videology), as are the industries in which we are a part of (Photo slideshow software and Collaborative real-time editor). The Wibbitz article also follows the same format and voice as those two competitor articles.

Company name changes

If news comes out that subsidiary X's name will soon change due to new investors or a merger etc., and the only place X is currently referred to by the new name is on its parent company's website (2ndary sources all state "X will be renamed as Y" or "X will join with Z and be called Y"), when exactly should X's name be updated? Big Hit Entertainment's page was recently edited re: their subsidiary beNX, which will be known as Weverse Company soon (news articles on the topic use future tense, e.g. [1] and [2]). The editor responsible for the edits has used a primary source (BH's website, see the "Family Companies" subhead) to justify changing beNX to Weverse Company there and on the Weverse article. Given what 2ndary sources say (I didn't include korean ones but they all also use future tense regarding news of the business deal), this doesn't seem correct to me, but I am not familiar with what the procedure for company-related articles is, so I am seeking clarification. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 01:16, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

As a default, subject to change on a case-by-case basis, I would wait until after the name change is official. Sometimes you will want to wait a lot longer, especially if reliable sources keep using the former name. Sometimes, you will want to do it sooner, such as if reliable sources start using the new name even before it becomes official. (Korea JoongAng Daily), "...Big Hit and its affiliate beNX will invest..." (The Korea Times), "...which is investing...in beNX, a technology subsidiary of Big Hit..." (Billboard), "BHE and its media arm beNX will invest KRW30 billion...", "...while beNX will open its..." & "At the same time, beNX will soon change its name to Weverse..." (Variety).

beNX is still presently being called beNX by multiple reliable 2ndary sources. I have not seen any specific date announced for when the name change will go into effect. Future tense is consistently used in connection with it though. In light of this, what do you propose I do on the wiki articles in question? As I mentioned, the editor enforcing the change believes that because the new name is listed on the BH website it should be used in the articles. Regarding extensive list of names in Colab and companies/organizations articles in general

I am currently discussing inclusion of a list of members with Wikipedia article at Talk:Colab. With respect to articles about small to medium organizations and companies, how extensively should the article feature a list of names of people that have membership, works at, or owns a portion of the company? I for one feel that including a simple list format of people, such as members, managers like this isn't encyclopedic and such information is more suitable to be presented by the organization on their own page under "our people" or similar section. Infospace

Infospace (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) was a high-flying dot-com company that crashed rather spectacularly. After many corporate purchases, mergers, and a rename, the main company (and article) is Blucora. The actual Infospace business unit was sold off years ago to a company called OpenMail, for which we don't have an article.

The dot-com-era Infospace is highly notable, and I'm wondering if a separate article would help use cover it better. I'm wondering if editors know of other situations where this has been done, or how to go about doing so. --Hipal (talk) 00:21, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

It looks to me like the original article was at InfoSpace (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). [3]. It was moved from there to Blucora in 2012. My thought is we could just undo the redirect from the page move and move the pertinent text from Blucora to InfoSpace and then fix the redirect from Infospace to InfoSpace. If that would affect the attribution, then we may need to move the whole article back to InfoSpace and do some kind of reverse merge with the edit history in both locations, but I'm not sure how that would happen. The InfoSpace article should be primarily about the dot-com boom era company with perhaps a paragraph or two at the end about the later rename to Blucora and later business sale to the other company. ♟♙ (talk) 21:43, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

• Can someone tell me if the Affiliates section in this article is necessary? I don't think it is but a new acc is insisting that this one company should be listed under its own section because all the Subsidiaries are under their own. This looks like a great piece of work. But the login page defeats me. Can you make it more user friendly? What's the 'certificate' I'm supposed to upload? What is the 'login' field? Can I complete the form if I'm not a company, since the company field is apparently obligatory? And what does this mean: 'The build versions of the client and the server do not match'. Looking to build consensus at Talk:ByteDance#Fixing MOS:LAYOUT and MOS:LEAD issues

Hi all. About a month ago I proposed making layout changes to the ByteDance article to comply with MOS:LAYOUT and WP:CSECTION, among other things. Specifically, I suggested using a chronologically organized "History" section (similar to Twitter#History) as well as integrating the contents of the Controversy section into other appropriate parts of the article. But I've struggled to generate a constructive discussion on the Talk page (Talk:ByteDance#Fixing MOS:LAYOUT and MOS:LEAD issues) and I will not make the edits myself due to my COI as a ByteDance employee.

Change name of Wikipedia page from Big Six (law firms) to Top Tier (law firms)

I propose the former name should be updated to the newly suggested name in respect of the article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Six_(law_firms)

I think this is an appropriate suggestion due to the outdated nature of the former term and the widespread usage in industry and media of the new term.

Any thoughts?

Amazon: Retail vs AWS Revenue

In a number of articles in this project, Amazon is referred to as a retailer. 10% of Amazon's revenue, and the majority of its income (54% as of FY2020), actually does not come from retail anymore, it comes from AWS. Since the majority of Amazon's income is not tied to retail, it is arguable if it should even be included in the list of the world's largest retailers. Proposed merge of Tesla Dojo

Hello, I would appreciate some wider input on the proposed merge of Tesla Dojo into Tesla Autopilot from 20 August 2021. Reason: I don't think Tesla Dojo is notable enough to warrant a standalone article. I propose merging into Tesla Autopilot (or maybe History of Tesla, Inc.) instead, at least until we wait and see if the project ultimately gains notability over time. The chip is yet to be released, and all of the sources are simply echoing Tesla's PR announcement yesterday. And of course Tesla has announced numerous projects over the years that have failed to come to fruition: plans to produce a COVID-19 vaccine[4], battery swapping[5], robotaxis[6], Model S Plaid Plus[7], etc. WP:NOTNEWS says "routine news reporting of announcements, sports, or celebrities is not a sufficient basis for inclusion in the encyclopedia.". AVL (engineering company)

Could some members from this WikiProject take a peek at AVL (engineering company)? It recently underwent a bit of a major expansion by someone employed by the company that is rather promotional. I believe the editor-in-question meant well, but it seems that they were trying to update the article along the lines of de:AVL List, which I think is the German Wikopedia version of the article. Reviews for Insurance Provider sites

Hi!

I don't want to fall foul of any COI issues - however I and my team at Worry+Peace [deleted my in advertent link!!] are building a valuable source base for customer service reviews for 1,000+ insurance providers in the UK. Including the likes of Hiscox, who are included in your project.

I wanted to add a citation/ Since the pandemic, it's customer experience feedback has improved notably to their page, but AS I READ, believe it's a potential conflict.

Hiscox could, in practice, be our client, but the content we are sourcing/aggregrating and classifying is UGC... so I am unsure where this sits on the scale.

From our perspective we naturally want to be THE source for insurance feedback insight - and feel this is hyper relevant to wiki pages because of the anecdotal and verifiable impact that reviews have on Google rankings for providers in short and long tail insurance keyword searches. We do not sell insurance coverage and do not take a fiduciary commission when buyers use our own search. I would like to request clarification on how we can tread the right line of ethical on this. Hello, editors! My name is Spencer and I work for Yahoo. I posted an edit request on the Yahoo Talk page to update the Infobox, which was partially implemented. But there are a few remaining proposed edits for consideration. Is anyone available to review the remaining requests? Nothing major, just looking to get the Infobox updated. Hello! Abby here with DoorDash, hoping to find an editor willing to review a few requests I've posted at Talk:DoorDash. I've proposed updating the infobox, adding mention of the company's launch in Germany, and replacing some "citation needed" tags with sources I hope editors will find helpful. I've received little feedback even though I've used Template:Request edit. Help needed to split Citadel Securities from Citadel LLC

Hi, a discussion has determined that Citadel Securities should be split from Citadel LLC. COI editor Amandaatcitadel has prepared a draft here: User:Amandaatcitadel/Citadel Securities. On first impression, the draft seems workable, but I won't have the time required to give it proper attention over in the near future. If anyone has the time to take a look, it would be appreciated.
