[edit]Dear Editor:
About the first article, an editor on Wikipedia wants to remove it. My son wrote it long ago as a present. It has been edited often since so I am not sure what to do.
The second problem is an article in my Sandbox which I moved, I thought, successfully to Wikipedia but Wikipedia says it won't come up. Can't imagine why. I think I wrote the title in the wrong box but I don't know how to change it to the right box. Could you do this?
Thanks for your help as always, Joan Joan arden murray (talk) 19:49, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
P.S. I don't mind if my article is deleted. Also, I am going to look up your "neigh". Hi there! Joan
Dear Editor:
Will you read and review this article when you have time? Thank you very much. Joan arden murray (talk) 01:28, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Joan. For the first time in a long time, I'm not seeing enough in-depth references from independent, reliable sources to show notability. The first reference is perfect. If you had at least one more like that, it would be fine. Two would be better. Onel5969 TT me 09:24, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Editor. I have found a really good reference in a catalogue published in 1973! Such references are hard to find but at least I found one. I will keep looking! Thank you for your patience.Joan arden murray (talk) 19:56, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Onel5969TT me, I found good references with lots of information at last! Think the article might be okay but I have had a thought that perhaps article would work better if I reworked as an article on the Toronto Art League Calendars as they are the most notable part of the enterprise. Will try and get back to you in a week or so.Joan arden murray (talk) 22:10, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oops, just saw that you accepted it. Thanks! But I will keep trying to strengthen.Joan arden murray (talk) 13:59, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Link to variety (universal algebra)
[edit]Hi,
As you might have noticed, I have reverted several additions of links to variety (universal algebra), which were wrong. I think I have reverted almost all but please double check your edits to see I didn’t miss anything. Thanks! Taku (talk) 09:35, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- I have just created a redirect page subvariety (algebraic geometry), which should be the most convenient link target to add a link to a subvareity in algebraic geometry. —- Taku (talk) 09:48, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- I changed the link on the dab page to reflect your new redirect. Onel5969 TT me 09:53, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. Sorry about that. These links were originally targeted to the botany article, which did not appear correct to me. I selected the incorrect target out of the two mathematical choices. Onel5969 TT me 09:51, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- No worries. These were just mistakes (and not meant to be vandalism or anything). —- Taku (talk) 09:54, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
Dear Editor:
Would you kindly review this article when you get a chance? Thanks, Joan Joan arden murray (talk) 14:49, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
BLP subject's academic writing used as sources
[edit]Hi, I recently interacted with an academic, Gabriel Wainer, whose BLP was vandalized. He reintroduced text that had been deleted, and another editor removed it, telling Wainer that because of his COI, he needed to make an edit request. Wainer was surprised, as the contents that he tried to reintroduce had been on the page since it was approved by you via AfC. That led me to take a look, and I noticed that when you approved it, over half of the citations were to books, papers, and conference proceedings (co-)authored by Wainer and 1 to his CV. That puzzled me, as I thought that these aren't independent of the subject and so generally aren't acceptable as sources. You're a much more experienced editor than I am, so I assume that there's something I've misunderstood about this, and I'm hoping that you'll briefly explain when / the extent to which an NPROF's professional publications can be used as sources in his/her BLP. I'm asking because I'm trying to improve the page of another NPROF. Thank you! FactOrOpinion (talk) 20:52, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there. Non-independent sources can be used to satisfy WP:VERIFY, but do not go towards establishing WP:NOTABILITY. While most articles need to pass GNG, I most likely passed Wainer's article based on his Google Scholar rating, which qualifies under WP:NSCHOLAR. I hope that clears it up a bit for you. Onel5969 TT me 21:40, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Onel5969, Thank you for taking the time to respond. I wasn't wondering about establishing notability. I was wondering about WP:RS statements like "Articles should be based on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy" (there's a similar statement in WP:VERIFY) and "the great majority of any article must be drawn from independent sources." Another experienced editor, C.Fred, had also told Wainer "You need to get independent sources for the material" that Wainer wanted to reintroduce, most of which had been sourced to his own publications. I'll keep your comment in mind that non-independent sources can be used to satisfy WP:V. Thanks again, FactOrOpinion (talk) 23:35, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
Partisan primaries

- Simply directed it to the target of the existing redirect prior to it being made into a dab. I have corrected the dab to what I believe is the correct target, Two-round system. Onel5969 TT me 23:32, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Dear Editor:
I have a funny kind of request. I moved this article to Wikipedia too soon. Will you put it back in my sandbox? The subject is more than adequately covered in several sites on the Internet. I don't need Earwig's copy viol to tell me that i have overstepped. I may delete it from my sandbox as I don't know the subject and can't contribute anything. Thanks! Joan Joan arden murray (talk) 22:40, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Dear Editor:
Will you read this article when you get a chance? I can't use Earwig's Copyviol for the moment since I gummed up entering my password. I am hopeful the article is enough in my words to be accepted. Thank you, Joan Joan arden murray (talk) 21:21, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Dear Editor: Happy First Edit Day!! and Favour to ask:
The title of this article has been placed correctly in the Category Canadian Women Artists but the second part of the title has been translated to English. This is not correct. Canada has two official languages. That is why the title is in English and French. Could you correct this please? Thanks! Joan Joan arden murray (talk) 16:20, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
New articles
[edit]Would you mind casting your expert eye over a couple of new articles I created Seiden Law and Lior Haiat Thank you. By the way, your user page mentions your well-deserved awards in 2019 and 2022. You should also add 2023! MaskedSinger (talk) 11:28, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for reviewing Lior Haiat. Is there an issue with the Seiden Law article that needs to be improved? MaskedSinger (talk) 22:24, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. Not sure about it's notability. While well-written and well-referenced, several of what might be the best references are behind paywalls, so I can't see them. The sheer amount of refs made it difficult to slog through all of them, and the several I was able to open and check out did not seem to be that in-depth about the firm. Sorry. But nice job on the Haiat article. Onel5969 TT me 22:56, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. Thank you! MaskedSinger (talk) 05:27, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Barn owls
[edit]I haven't gone into all the details of the recent move, it looks rather confusing, but I'm fairly sure that barn owls in Britain are going to be Tyto alba so that's what you should be changing links to. Having Barn owl as a dab page and Barn-owl as a content page is guaranteed to cause confusion and misdirected links. DuncanHill (talk) 01:34, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't disagree. After I did a few, I went back over the discussion. It's going to make disambiguating all those pages a bear. Onel5969 TT me 01:42, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
