A7 on Antonio Foscarini
Hi Onel5969 -- I've declined this speedy because being an ambassador to two major cities seems a clear notability claim. Being executed for treason and then rehabilitated also appears somewhat unusual. As he died in 1622, we don't need to worry about the BLP policy with regard to the lack of sourcing. Espresso Addict (talk) 04:26, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Espresso Addict - Thanks for the explanation. I don't think I did a BLP prod though, that's why I speedied. Without references, there is nothing to show that the assertions claimed in the article are accurate. Take care. Onel5969 TT me 11:53, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Xianzi, the Shrimp Eater
Hi, I'm the professor of the college student editor (bzuegel) who wrote the Xianzi, the Shrimp Eater Wikipedia article. You flagged it as needing more citations. Can you please be more specific or flag specific sentences rather than the entire article? As a specialist on the topic, I graded and vetted this article before it was uploaded to the main space, and I am satisfied with the citations in this work. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michwang108 (talk • contribs) 03:05, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm the professor of the college student editor (ltk8) who wrote the Shigajiku Wikipedia article. You flagged it as needing more citations. Can you please be more specific or flag specific sentences rather than the entire article? - Hi Michwang108 - first two things: please always sign your comments on talk pages (either article's or user's), using four tildes (like this: ~~~~); also, please provide a link to the article you have a question about. Now to your question, and I'm going to answer all three here. Virtually every assertion in each of the articles needs a citation, else it is considered original research and can be deleted at any time. For example in the Xianzi article, there is an uncited assertion at the end of the "Sources" section. Any time you see something like that, there should be a citation. All three articles are very under-cited. Additionally, when citing a book, magazine or newspaper, please use page numbers. When citing a book like Awakenings : Zen figure painting in medieval Japan, and not giving a page number, the citation is virtually worthless for researchers. Hope this helps. Btw... all 3 were fascinating articles, thanks for contributing (or guiding your students to contribute).Onel5969 TT me 04:39, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello,
I just would like to add that the author worked in Soviet Union where there were a lot of restrictions. Only government could decide what to publish on English for other countries. Some materials were re-published on English (see https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=7004021962), other materials are presented as attached copies (on Russian) on https://independent.academia.edu/AlexanderAbugov. I understand that it's hard to read on Russian to prove that the name on those publications is the same as Alexander Abugov (since it's A.L.Abugov or Abugov A.L. (but by Russian letters)). Also please check https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3960-5667.
Please also check some citations on the draft where different authors cite some publications of Alexander Abugov.
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks! MinskBel (talk) 17:23, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

02:48:51, 5 May 2018 review of submission by MinskBel
The submission was declined based on reason that there is almost a zero citation count on Scholar and it doesn’t meet criteria for reliable, secondary sources. Please consider the following:
1. The author worked in Soviet Union where there were a lot of restrictions. Only government could decide what to publish on English for other countries. The criteria for citing on Scholar is hardly reliable for scientists who lived in communist countries and it does not reflect the importance of scientific work.
2. Thinking about reliable, secondary sources there is an evidence that such a scientist produced significant amount of scientific publications and inventions. 2.1. Some materials were re-published on English - Scopus (please see independent source – Scopus https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=7004021962). 2.2. There is also independent source on German - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology(please see https://www.tib.eu/en/search/?id=198&tx_tibsearch_search%5Bquery%5D=Abugov%2C+A.L.&tx_tibsearch_search%5Bsrt%5D=rk&tx_tibsearch_search%5Bcnt%5D=20). 2.3. There is an independent source on Polish - Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (please see http://www.ios.krakow.pl/sawios/expertus.php?KAT=%2Fhome%2Fwww%2Fsawios%2Fpar%2F&FST=data.fst&FDT=data.fdt&ekran=WIN&lnkmsk=2&cond=AND&mask=2&F_00=00&V_00=Abugov+A.L.) 2.4. The information about inventions can be found at European Patent Office (please see https://worldwide.espacenet.com/searchResults?compact=false&ST=advanced&IN=Abugov%20Aleksandr%20L&locale=en_EP&DB=EPODOC&PA=%5BSU%5D#!)
3. Since not all publications and inventions were available for different citing agencies and only small amount of publications were available for other than Soviet Union countries there is a full source of publications and inventions on https://independent.academia.edu/AlexanderAbugov This source contains copies of original publications and author’s certificates for inventions on Russian which can be downloaded. Those copies reflect significant contribution to science which with Soviet Union collapse is available now for other researchers. 4. Please also take into consideration that in publications the name of author is written in Russian tradition as A.L.Abugov or Abugov A.L. There is a good amount of citations in publications on Russian which probably are not reflected on Scholar or other than Russian languages citation agencies. 5. All described above mentions prove that subject is notable and worthy.
Please consider everything said above and reconsider your decision about that submission. Any your suggestion about improvements will be taken with gratitude.
Thanks!

Why delete my entries?
I think Chongqing No.68 Middle School is a notable middle school. It is a demonstration junior high school in the Shapingba District and the school is one of the ten most influential middle schools in Chongqing, China. It is as notable as Chongqing Railway High School and Chongqing No.7 high School. Why these schools can have entries,Chongqing No.68 Middle School can not have entrie?--被你抛弃的哀伤 (talk) 13:57, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
- First of all, the claim that it is one of the ten most notable is uncited. Second, very rarely are elementary or middle schools shown to be notable, as per WP:OUTCOMES. Third, pointing to other articles is called WP:OSE, and not a valid argument. To show a non-high school is notable, you have to have quite a bit of in-depth coverage from non-local sources, which this article does not have. Sorry. Onel5969 TT me 14:00, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
- Actually the correct procedure (per policy) which we apply to non notable primary and middle schools, is to blank and redirect them to the school district article (US), or to the article about the locality (rest of the word). We add the {{R from school}} templateto the redirect page. If as in the case of this article, the creator reverts the redirect, then it should be sent to AfD. He is not on their roster, and the single source doesn't show him playing for them. I'll remove that since it isn't verified. Apparently he plays for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and since he hasn't played 200 games in the AHL, he doesn't meet notability requirements as per WP:NHOCKEY. Hasty proposed delation of Géza Pálffy
Dear Onel5969, thank you for your message and I'd like to congratulate to you for The New Page Patroller's Barnstar but I think you're not right but we are human beings and to err is human. I think you have not pay enough attention to the fact that I am an confirmed editor and I am aware of the facts of notability guideline for academics and the rule of WP:NSCHOLAR and the article in question is highly suitable for creating a wikipedia article. Your nomination for delation was pretty husty, I think, and I understand your intention to defend the interests of Wikipedia but on the one hand the article was still in its start point, I've just started the first steps so it was an unfriendly act to offend this article but on the other hand I may have made a mistake that I've forgotten putting the template "under constrction" though this article is abouut a notable man, scientist who is respected in my country and in Central and Eastern Europe. First he has lotsa references in several other aricles becase his publications are used in lotsa articles:
You are not right, he owns several secondary sources and not only in Hngarian bt in English, too. I think if a person can be found in a contemporary biograpichal dictionary, that person can also deserve the article in wikipedia. A lexicon article has been written about Géza Pálffy in Hungary:
- Géza Pálffy (in Hungarian). In: Béla Varga (ed-in-chief.): Veszprém megyei kortárs életrajzi lexikon (A Contemporary Biographical Dictionary of VIPs in Veszprém County). Veszprém: Veszprém Megyei Önkormányzat Közgyűlése (Self Government of Veszprém County). 2001. Retrieved 2018-05-23.
{{cite book}}
: CS1 maint: others (link)
I understand you do not know this historian in Amarica but the scientists who research the history of Habsburg Monarchy in the world, they know his name. He is young, in his forties but he is among the respected and notable historians. I have extened the article and added to the article all the sources about it and there exist lotsa newspaper articles about it but unfortunately they were published in Hngarian and his name can also be found on the webpage of the Government of Hungary because he can have receaved a very important civil award, the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary from the minister of Human Capacities, Zoltán Balog on 8 May 2015. If you do not understand Hungarian but you can find his name easily in the webpage below:
- "Állami kitüntetéseket és szakmai díjakat adott át Balog Zoltán (Minsiter Zoltán Balog Gave Out Civil Awards and Decorations to Citizens)" (in Hungarian). Emberi Erőforrások Minisztériuma (Ministry of Human Capacities). 2015-08-19. Retrieved 2018-05-23.

I hope I have managed to prove my arguments and standpoint that the article in question should be kept on English wikipedia and now you will give up the idea to delate it and as you have written it to me, I can remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
and you'll accept this, you agree with me and you won't change my editing and you would no longer like to delate it. Best regards.Borgatya (talk) 01:05, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
Flawed AfD
I believe you made a flawed AfD nomination here [2] by representing the Order of Canada as the 2nd highest civilian decoration. That is technically true BUT the only thing higher is Order_of_Merit which you can see is restricted to 24 living recipients across the entire Commonwealth. It is quite possible none of them are even Canadian. Comparing the Order of Canada to the second highest military honor is quite misleading. Every Order of Canada recipient meets WP:ANYBIO #1. Legacypac (talk) 02:57, 24 May 2018 (UTC). I've raised the discussion here Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(people)#Order_of_Canada Legacypac (talk) 03:10, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- You have the right to that opinion. To me, if a person has won the Silver Star, that is higher than ANY civilian award. Yet, that is not considered significant by WP standards. Take care. Onel5969 TT me 03:30, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

In an effort to try to learn from my mistakes I see you reviewed Daneta Wollmann. So magistrate judges also qualify for WP:JUDGE criteria 1? I had read that to just mean congressionally confirmed Judges. Or was she notable for some other aspect? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:35, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- You could be right, Barkeep49, although that's not the way I read wp:judge. As per #1 of that, which reads in part, "...judges who have held international, national or sub-national (statewide/provincewide) office...", and I'm not sure, and there is no direct guidance as to whether or not magistrate judges should or should not be included in that designation. If the district she served in were statewide, than it would be easy to include, but since it only covers the western portion of the state, I can see why your position has merit. Don't be discouraged by some of the spiteful comments in response to your deletion nomination. There are a lot of so-called contributors around who expect others to do all their work for them. Deb (talk) 09:46, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Deb - thanks for the encouragement. Learned a while ago that for many editors WP:AGF is mere lip service, including some who participated in that AfD. While I understand that WP:AFDNOTCLEANUP, sometimes it is the only way to get an article improved, or to resolve the issue of whether or not it should be an article or should stay a redirect. In this instance I checked to see if her novels had articles, and saw only the stub article without a single independent source. As I was not researching the notability of her books, my searches only turned up the several reviews to Madonnas, plus a single review of one of her other novels. In addition, there wasn't a single in-depth article about the author herself. In fact, despite the recent good work by Coolbeapple, there still isn't a single in-depth reference about her from an independent source. Since the editor who turned the redirect into an article was too lazy to put any effort into the article and source it properly, and I couldn't find the sources, AfD appeared to be the route to go. Actually, I had decided to close the discussion and remove my nom, until Eppstein's comment. Which made me quite done with the matter. Took both the article and the discussion off my watchlist. Incivility is one of my target points. No need for it. And while as I said before, AFDNOTCLEANUP, I actually enjoy when an AfD I began results in turning a garbage article (or in this case 2, if you include Madonnas), into decent ones. Again, thanks. Onel5969 TT me 19:57, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- Too true. I feel the same about it. Taking something to AfD (or speedy deleting it) can get you a lot of flak - God knows I've had plenty of it - but sometimes it's the only way to highlight this issue and get people to actually do something about it. Deb (talk) 07:46, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

- Hahah - I have done worse (I dont admit to my mistakes that much) - but thank you for your help with the Australian project area - much appreciate your help JarrahTree 13:29, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah - screwed that one up. It's now corrected. Onel5969 TT me 12:55, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Portal:Serbia reverts
Can you explain why you reverted three of my updates to the selected articles; like Portal:Serbia/Selected article/17? I see no benefit to the portal.--Auric talk 12:04, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Can you explain to me why you're asking me about stuff I didn't do? It was not I who reverted you. Onel5969 TT me 12:57, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Woops, Sorry!--Auric talk 15:35, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Chellapilla Venkata Rao
This man was important in the history of the Proteaceae. Most of his work has not lasted, but people did have to argue against him to reach current consensuses. His work has not been republished, nor has it yet found its way into online repositories. I hope you will give me the time to find further references to him (probably most of which will not be capable of adding much to the story). But he was prolific and influential in his time. - Sorry, simply does not meet either WP:GNG or WP:SCHOLAR. Onel5969 TT me 13:09, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- Which is why at the talk page I have said that considering the unchallenged articles about botanists with similarly low publication rates etc that dont fit the absurd metric havent been touched - making this an undue exception. Most practising botanists have not been in institutions to qualify the academic parameter - they have been government civil servants - and the strictures simply do not apply JarrahTree 13:24, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- Which is an invalid WP:OSE argument, which is why I ignored it. Onel5969 TT me 13:27, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- fair enough but it does not convince me that there arent large numbers of potential stubs about botanists, grologists, veterinary surgeons and other civil servant professionals that deserve to stand free of metrics that are confined to workplace environments that simply that do not corellate relative to publication obsessed academics JarrahTree 13:31, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- WP has guidelines. If you wish them changed, make a proposal. Onel5969 TT me 13:32, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

- Hahaha - in all WP:AGF - try it. Nothing personal, it is a long and complicated issue, here is not the place to explain. JarrahTree 13:42, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- It is tied into a complex argument about the origins of the pedia in the states where things like scholar make sense - specially if you are tied in with medicos, psychs, and academics - but in the global south and post colonial environments like India and Australia the base of the metric assumptions simply dont fit - but short of being in a sit down situation, lots of coffees/beers or wines at something like a wikimania - hey this is not the place. Take Me to the Kaptin
Could you please explain to me as to why the page Take Me to the Kaptin was deleted and redirected to Prism (Prism album). I believe the page was not finished and was not given a fair chance to be fixed up and add additional information. I could not see any vandalism present. The page is notable and should be visible to the public. An explanation is due. LilJohnnyWimple (talk) 13:06, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- The page was not deleted, simply redirected. Please see WP:NALBUM for pertinent notability criteria, none of which was shown in the article. If the article is a draft in progress, it should be in the draftspace, not the mainspace, until it is ready. The vandalism is due to the personal attack. Onel5969 TT me 13:08, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Ken Layne
Hi there! Looking at the edit history for journalist Ken Layne, I see that you were involved in its move from AfC to mainspace in June 2014. Last week on the article's talk page, I proposed a rewritten version that brings it up-to-date, improves the prose quality, and uses better sources more carefully. I would make the change myself, except I happen to be representing Mr. Layne as a paid consultant. Following the WP:COI guideline, I think it wiser to avoid editing directly and instead seek agreement from a volunteer to implement the changes. If you're too busy or not interested, I would certainly understand, but if you might be willing to help with this subject again, I would be most grateful. Let me know when you have the chance. - Following up just to say, this has now been addressed. Best, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 15:17, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
Clover (band)
I am checking to see why four albums I entered (Homestead Redemption, The Best Of Clover: An American Band In London, Live At The Paradiso, and Live At Winterland) were removed and redirected to the Clover (band) page. The band members Alex Call, John McFee, Sean Hopper, and Huey Lewis who appear on these albums are well known musicians and I would consider them notable (867-5309, Doobie Brothers, Huey Lewis and The News). Clover is releasing their new album Homestead Redemption pretty soon as well.Eskew (talk) 14:11, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Eskew - as I said in my edit summary, none of them show any indication of notability, and as per WP:NALBUM should be redirected to the band. If they do meet notability criteria, please add that, with appropriate citations to the articles. Please be aware that notability is not inherited, and simply because the band, or band members are notable, does not make their albums notability guaranteed. Same with an upcoming album. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 14:15, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the info.Eskew (talk) 15:03, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
