Proposed deletion of Mayu Sagara
Hi! You recently proposed the deletion of the article Mayu Sagara, and I'd like to discuss it. This is the first time I've gone through the deletion process, so please bear with me.
I've been working on translating the biographies of the new generation of voice actors in the Love Live! franchise from Japanese Wikipedia to English. Some of the actresses are very new to the industry, and Love Live! is their first major role. This is the case for Mayu Sagara. Instead of outright deleting the article, would it be possible to move it to draft space? I'm on the fence about whether it's WP:Too Soon for some of these articles to be in Wikipedia, so I don't particularly mind if the article is moved to draftspace until she either obtains more roles or until more information is available, such as a birth year.
Please let me know what you think. Mcampany (talk) 19:28, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Mcampany - I've moved it to draftspace. If these actors have a main role in the franchise, that would count as one credit towards notability. They need at least two to be notable, depending on the roles, sometimes it takes 3 or 4 if they are significant, but not leading roles. The main guideline for notability is WP:GNG, for actors in particular there is also WP:NACTOR. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. While very slim, the article is well formatted and the citations are also formatted properly, so nicely done. Onel5969 TT me 21:22, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for moving it! I guess my next question is, since Sagara also had a major role in Idol Memories (she's the antagonist), would that count as another notable film credit? What about Aozora Under Girls, where Sagara played a major (not leading) role? It has a decent number of independent, reliable sources in Japanese that suggest notability, but doesn't have an English Wikipedia article. Do films or other works have to have Wikipedia articles to be counted as notable film credits for establishing notability for actors? Would I need to make this pages and establish notability for it in order to use it as evidence establishing Sagara's notability? I think I'm overthinking this.
- My other concern is that typically within Love Live! the actresses don't take other roles while they are working on the series, so essentially Sagara wouldn't get another role for another couple years. I'm certain that someone else would try to re-create the page before then. Is there a way to direct them to the draft I've already started before someone else takes the time to translate it again?
- Finally, thank you for the compliment, but the formatting is copied from the Japanese Wikipedia article and all the credit should go to the contributors there. ;) I'm just changing the words to English. Thank you for all your help! Mcampany (talk) 07:15, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Proposed Deletion of 'The Desert (Band)'
Hi, I have received a notification today that you have proposed for the deletion of 'The Desert (Band)'. I would like to contest this deletion due to the significance of said band in their native Bristol, their frequent featuring on major British radio stations and their many touring dates around the entirety of the UK, including large festivals. For their current (and potential future) fanbase, a wikipedia page would be particularly important in their further research of the band.
Khmer Wikipedia
Hi, you have deleted my work on Khmer Wikipedia; the progress of wikipedia in this language is very slow. I was trying to do something for it. I don't understand why you remove that. --Io Herodotus (talk) 03:57, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Modern Family Season 10
That talk page explains that there should be a sourced episode table before creating the article, which I did. I read that talk page post before editing the article in the first place. It was reverted at the time because it was entirely based on a premiere date only, but that is simply not the case anymore. Either provide a legitimate reason for the reversal or please restore the page. Tooniee (talk) 18:15, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Josep Alsina notability
Hi, Josep Alsina is not a notable academic. He is a notable spanish nationalism activist. For instance, he is president of Somatemps and has colaborated with Societat Civil Catalana. Two known associations rooted in Catalonia. Filiprino (talk) 02:39, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
New page reviews
Hi Onel5969, Thanks for reviewing the pages Charlotte Marie Baldwin Allen, Ernest O. Smith, and Diamond Joe Reynolds. As much as I understand new page patrol, it's a process for determining which new articles are appropriate for Wikipedia, and tagging and making suggestions for improving them. I would not want to post articles with gross violations of Wikipedia policy, such as promotion, copyvio, or unsourced material about a living person. So here's a general thanks for being the first line of defense and the understanding that there are many more pages created every day than there are reviewers.
Perhaps you would be able to help me understand some more about the page patrol process. Two of the three of the pages you reviewed today had already been reviewed. The Smith article was initially reviewed almost a week ago, and I am guessing the Reynolds review was for the redirect, which was also reviewed several days ago. Was there a problem with the initial reviews, or did some red flag with the articles cause them to be reverted? Running a history of my edits would demonstrate that I have quickly fixed all issues raised by page reviewers. I understand that you were fixing the problem, not creating it, but any insight would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Oldsanfelipe (talk) 13:33, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- Never mind. All three of these were reviews of redirect pages. Sorry to bother you. Sincerely, Oldsanfelipe (talk) 13:39, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

Cruciform wing
Hi,
Thanks for reviewing the Cruciform wing article. I confess I am a bit puzzled as to why you think it short on inline citations. It is a short article and has some fifteen citations - rather more than one per paragraph - on what is not a contentious topic. Most of these are either linked to an online copy or directly quoted. Most of the references are fairly generic, rather to a given factoid on a given page. I did remove one tag which was inappropriate for just this reason. I suppose I could tag-bomb the section on the Cruciform-wing missile with references to Farmer (1956), but isn't one enough? Am I missing something here? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 13:37, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Steelpillow - Just in that one section on the missile. If memory serves me, there are several assertions made there, but only one footnote. But a very nice job on the article. Onel5969 TT me 18:23, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- Two, actually. But like I say, are you suggesting I should citation-bomb every paragraph in that section with the same source? In my experience that has always been frowned on, I am sure these is a guideline to that effect somewhere. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 18:42, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- No, if it's the same source, you might want to combine the short paragraphs into a single paragraph, with the single source at the end. Onel5969 TT me 19:22, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I'll take a look at that. Sounds like the citations are about right now. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:59, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

The Block (Season 14)
Hi, I saw that you recently deleted my creation of the season 14 page for The Block, as per tvupcoming and tvoverview. Two episodes have now aired, with ratings (and info which can be added to the tables), and I believe that is enough for the season page to be created, please correct me if I'm wrong?
Thanks, Louelle.ivy (Talk)

The Lifted Veil
There should be no links to disambiguation pages, so now that you made The Lifted Veil a dab page, would you please follow up and fix all the incoming links? (DisamAssist, Dabfix and Dabsolver are helpful.) Also, please review WP:DAB and MOS:DAB, especially WP:DABRL. Thanks. — Gorthian (talk) 06:22, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Gorthian - First, not sure why you are referring to DABRL, since there are no redlinks on that dab, and I am quite familiar with all 3 links you provided, but thanks for the reminder. Second, regarding dabs, my apologies, although the 5 or so links seem to be all fixed, except for the one in a hatnote on the film page, which is now fixed. Take care. Onel5969 TT me 10:53, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, good, I run across so many editors (even experienced ones) that aren’t familiar with dab pages. I saw that you had done several movie-related dabs, and there was at least one (I think The Voice of Conscience?) where there was a red link but no blue one. I found and fixed that one, but I wanted to just remind you. :-) — Gorthian (talk) 17:44, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- No worries Gorthian. I don't put a redlink on a dab page if I don't intend to create the article within the next few weeks. Right now, I'm creating a list of films for the old Metro Films Corp. (one of the forerunners of MGM), and will get around to creating articles for all the redlinks there. As I'm developing that list page, I will add a redlink to a dab, knowing I'm going to create the article. I did the same thing when I fleshed out the List of RKO films. In addition, I've done quite a bit of work on Dabs... think I've fixed over 20k or so in the last few years. Onel5969 TT me 01:12, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- One other thing -- I've found that the best tool is Dabfix, but it takes several hours for dabs to appear there (it needs to update). So, for example, I created dabs for Her Boy and The Claim. When I ran the tools on them, I got zero hits. I'll check on the in the morning, and if someone else hasn't fixed them, I'll take care of it. Onel5969 TT me 02:49, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- I know, some of the tools don’t refresh their databases except once a day. I like Dabsolver best, even though it only does one page at a time. I like being able to see the other terms that have red links and where. — Gorthian (talk) 03:50, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

The Girl Without a Soul moved to draftspace
To make way for already existing article with unnecessary dab
Please, write the article first
Before you add another red link to a dab page, read WP:WRITEITFIRST. Editors coming after you have no idea you are currently working on an article, nor how long it will take it to show up. Those of us who regularly patrol dab pages also regularly remove red links with no corresponding blue links added by random editors all the time. Please change your workflow to create or add links to dab pages after the article exists. Thank you. — Gorthian (talk) 01:58, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

Kind Inquiry
Hello, I wanted to ask why I am unable to create articles. When I type in a name, it creates a red link and then when I try to proceed, it says it should rather use sandbox. I want to create articles about South African Places but I am unable. Is it because I am very very new here. Kindly offer advise SouthAfrica1994 00:38, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi SouthAfrica1994 and welcome to Wikipedia. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:
- Introduction and Getting started
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- How to create your first article
- Simplified Manual of Style
- How to structure and layout your article
- On how to properly format your citations
In particular, look at the link on how to create your first article. You might also want to go through the WP:Articles for Creation process, although that can be quite slow, you will get good direction there. You can also ask questions at WP:TEAHOUSE, where there are many helpful editors who respond in a very timely fashion. Hope this helps. And don't be afraid to ask questions. Onel5969 TT me 00:44, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, I quite know how to go about writing articles but the create option here is always leading me to Sandbox, Wizards. On Simple English Wikipedia, once a notification shows I create but not here. See my South African creations here [1] SouthAfrica1994 (talk) 09:47, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi again SouthAfrica1994 - Not sure why that is happening to you. Might have something to do with your number of edits on English WP, as you suspected. I've never come across this situation before, so you are probably better off asking your question at the Teahouse, where lots of editors keep watch, and perhaps someone there has run across this... good luck, and sorry you're having such issues. - Thanks David Biddulph - since they were creating articles on SA WP, I didn't consider that. I've created articles on other WP (although very rarely, and only when asked to by editors from that WP - languages are not a strong point), and that never happened to me, so I didn't realize that could occur here. - (talk page stalker) Yeah SouthAfrica1994, to clarify, on the Simple English Wikipedia, anybody can create mainspace articles, including unregistered users. However, on this English Wikipedia, you have to have an account for at least 4 days and made 10 edits with that account in order to create them.--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 13:06, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
