Your questioning of the protection of Deinosuchus and of other related articles
[edit]Hello Uksam88, thank you for dropping this note. It was an interesting and lucky coincidence, because I am questioning the same on the protecting admin's talk page.
As you highlighted, there seems to be a double standard in place. Indeed, it appears that our policy and guidelines only apply to regular editors who make a request at WP:RFP, whereas some admins are somehow on a license to ignore them.
A few people have started to notice this and are trying to expose it, while at the same time undoing this uncontrolled and dangerous padlockification. The procedure is simple:
- Study our policy and guidelines
- Pick a particularly unreasonable indefinite protection from this list and ask the protecting admin to reconsider the protection. This is often unsuccessful, especially if you ask as an IP.
- If unsuccessful, ask at WP:RUP. If the protection really is off the wall, it is normally undone there.
- If you feel that your request for unprotection has been turned down unjustly, and you are confident about your case, you can appeal at WP:ANI as a last resort.
Some people will argue that you are wasting everybody's time, whereas in fact you are defending the very principles that allowed Wikipedia to become what it is now.

[edit]The |clubname parameter in infoboxes is for the club's common name. This (in almost all cases except AFC Wimbledon and a few others) does not include FC. For more see {{Infobox football club}} - note that "Infobox Rovers" is used for the clubname, rather than Infobox Rovers FC. [edit]Just to explain why I reverted your edit to List of postcode districts in the United Kingdom: Although Formby is not in the Liverpool city council area, Royal Mail allocates it to the LIVERPOOL post town for the official postal address. You can verify this by entering a local postcode (such as L37 4AN) at http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder – the post town is shown there in capitals. - It does seem odd, but I guess there has to be an arbitrary cut-off between the largest villages, suburbs or satellite towns, and the smallest "post towns", partly reflecting the historic role of post offices in major towns before the Victorian introduction of universal door-to-door delivery. Comparing List of post towns in the United Kingdom with List of largest United Kingdom settlements by population, the much larger settlements of East Kilbride, Kingswood, Bebington, Cheshunt, Morley and Crosby are also classified by Royal Mail as dependant localities, not post towns in their own right. The list of settlements also shows that the Office for National Statistics incorporates Formby as part of the "Southport urban area", so poor Formby is even denied its statistical independence in official lists of urban areas! In contrast, many of the Royal Mail "post towns" in rural Wales would be considered small villages by English standards. — Richardguk (talk) 00:46, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.

- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.

Football managers info-box
[edit]Thanks for raising that question, my take was that only manager/assistant manager/youth team manager positions should be included. I just think that many people will scan the infobox to get an idea of career history and it could make things confusing if significant spells in management are left out. Ultimately, I think it would make more sense to re-title the box to 'Management Career' rather than teams managed but that is slightly outside the argument. Harry Beadles
[edit]Hi, I've been expanding Harry Beadles article recently and was just hoping for your input on his stats for Southport. I have him as 93 league games and 60 league goals but I added that information years ago and can't remember the source anymore but it does seem to tally with your List of Southport F.C. seasons article. However, I came across these two sources 1 2, that list his stats as 92 (61) instead. Invite to the African Destubathon
[edit]Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
