Eriksen height

[edit]

Eriksen is listed as being 181 cm at http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/archive/southafrica2010/players/player=321716/index.html

Elsewhere he is reported to be around 175 cm and he definitely does not look like 181. So, how tall is he? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.211.213.234 (talk) 12:07, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He is listed as 175cm on the official Premier League site and 181cm on the official Spurs site, having seen him play many times he is nowhere near 181cm and the 175cm height is much more likely to be accurate.145.255.240.112 (talk) 23:46, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually 175cm is a default hight placement, Tottenham website has made mistakes before, so I could send them an email, but it's strange when I looked around they are all different. I am more likely to trust the Spurs website know. Because of the confusion I am inclined to remove the information from the page. Govvy (talk) 15:11, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced edits about Tottenham transfer

[edit]

Ajax have not confirmed the transfer. The only evidence for Eriksen's move to Spurs is a single tweet. It's purely newspaper gossip at this stage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.103.92.3 (talk) 14:00, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's been confirmed by a number of reliable sources, including Tottenham Hotspur's official website, BBC Sport and The Gurdian. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:05, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics

[edit]

I have added assists to the statistic section in this article on several occasions. And every time it has been reverted. This evening I discovered, that I'd recieved a message, explaining that "Assists" isn't an appropiate improvement to the article. How come it isn't?

I believe assists is almost as important as goals when you evaluate a player by his statistics, especially a player like Christian Eriksen, whose domain mainly is assists. This is why I often prefer the spanish articles on wikipedia, because they include assist in their articles.

Please let assists be part of the statistics. It is so important! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.38.4.70 (talk) 22:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Assists have been removed per consensus at WT:FOOTY as there is no WP:RS or clear definition available, so it then becomes WP:OR. You can read the discussion about it here - WT:WikiProject Football#Assists JMHamo (talk) 22:38, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Collapse at UEFA Euro 2020

Eriksen Collapse against Finland

[edit]

Eriksen has collapsed in the UEFA European Championship in Copenhagen against Finland. Medical staff have been performing CPR.

This is a gentle reminder not to post about this matter until more is known. This is sensitive in nature right now.

UEFA tweeted that he has been transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

I don't think that quoting from the source directly will be in violation of this. It will be a factual representation of a prescient topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by an unknown user
Well you could make the same argument about WP:LIVESCORES. Wikipedia is not for updating events in real time, as they happen. Also 'Please do not edit page' was about as effective as a piece of paper at stopping a nuclear bomb. Benjamin112 18:23, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Whilst I take your point, I am smiling slightly at your suggestion that pieces of paper don't stop nuclear bombs. In fact, many pieces of paper have had that effect! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brontorex01 (talkcontribs)

Collapse

[edit]

Couldn't see a discussion section for how the collapse should be detailed, so here it is. I see now that my edit conflicted with a previous edit that added a new subsection, which didn't trigger an edit conflict for me.

Dat GuyTalkContribs 17:24, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DatGuy: Yes, I think both of your proposed changes should be implemented, but right now, I think we should focus on stemming the barrage of edits from everyone and their moms. If there was a way to temporarily restrict editing access to just WP:FOOTBALL and other related WPs I would, but vigilant monitoring is the best option right now. Benjamin112 17:41, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Some more: personally feel the following sentence - "Urgent medical assistance arrived immediately and performed CPR on the field before Eriksen was taken off the pitch on a stretcher" should be slightly rewritten, with 'urgent' and 'immediately' being dropped while the 20 minutes detail (per https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/12/sports/soccer/denmark-christian-eriksen-collapse.html) being added, but can't edit it so it rolls off the tongue well so I'll leave it for someone else. I'll work on getting a proper sentence for his stabilisation with refs. Dat GuyTalkContribs 17:50, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like the NYT source contains two times - "Eriksen was near the sideline, waiting to receive a throw-in, in the 42nd minute when he appeared to stumble and then fall forward" and "The incident happened in the 43rd minute of a scoreless game." Not sure which one should be used in the article. Dat GuyTalkContribs 17:56, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: I believe the version before you full protected it was the best one and the edit volume seemed to have died down. Current version contains multiple issues, such as the infobox pic, information about the collapse being written three times (two in international career, one in personal life), children's DOB in personal life. I requested increased protection levels to admins so as to clean up this whole mess.

The requested change of the UEFA Euros 2020 paragraph: On 12 June 2021, while playing in Denmark's opening UEFA Euro 2020 group stage match against Finland at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Eriksen collapsed in the 42nd minute as he was about to receive a throw-in. Urgent medical assistance arrived immediately and performed CPR on the field before Eriksen was taken off the pitch on a stretcher and the match was suspended.[1] Around an hour after the incident, UEFA and Danish Football Association officials confirmed from the Rigshospitalet that Eriksen had been stabilized and was awake.[2] Benjamin112 17:55, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2022–23 EFL Cup as major honour

[edit]

@Mattythewhite Your revert of the 2022–23 EFL Cup being added as a major honour for Eriksen stated "Did you even bother checking the source? He wasn't involved". Eriksen was not involved in the final through injury, but still appeared four times for Manchester United in their EFL Cup campaign, and so them winning the final certainly counts as a major honour for him. Profavi1 (talk) 18:00, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Profavi1: If you can provide an independent, reliable source that says he won the competition then fill your boots. At present, all we have is a match report that doesn't even mention Eriksen's name. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:33, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mattythewhite: Are you serious? The career statistics wikitable for Eriksen, citing Soccerbase, literally indicates on the exact same page that he made four appearances in the 2022–23 EFL Cup for Manchester United, even scoring a goal against Burnley. Thus, a match report for Manchester United winning the final (even in Eriksen's absence) should be sufficient additional evidence for Eriksen winning the 2022–23 EFL Cup with Manchester United!
If that isn't sufficient for you, I'll add the Soccerbase citation to the 'Honours' section in addition to the match report of the final. It should not subsequently be removed. Profavi1 (talk) 19:18, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Profavi1: Appearing in an earlier round of the competition isn't, in itself, sufficient in establishing that a player should be credited with an honour. But I'm not going to revert, as you've clearly made your mind up that it is must be included ("It should not subsequently be removed"). I appreciate you've at least made some sort of effort to address the sourcing, when many editors think a match report that doesn't even mention the name of the player in question is sufficient. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:27, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mattythewhite: I appreciate that, but I think in this case it's intuitive to suggest that a current Manchester United squad member, who appeared in every match prior to his injury and only missed the final through said injury, is credited with the trophy as an honour - it seems like pedantry to omit it entirely on the basis of a lack of an entire article specifically crediting Eriksen with a medal. Profavi1 (talk) 21:17, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
