Hey were you responsible for deleting favourable comments from the debate on Ivy Goh Nair? That is not allowed. You are free to express your views but to delete other people's comments is despicable. My apologies if you were not the one responsible. The admin can easily check on this.Ivygohnair 09:10, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
I would be glad to see that article, which has gone completely wayward, go, but it also survived an AfD less than a month ago. Tintin (talk) 10:27, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey I just discovered that you hate the caste system and want to delete the "List of Famous Nairs" very badly. It leads me to wonder whether your "delete" vote on my page was not a conflict of interest since my name is nair. Believe me neither my hubby nor I are believers in the caste system, otherwise he would not have married me! But having said that I was puzzled that a "friendly" (as you describe yourself) admin would vote "not notable enough" (without giving any explanation whatsoever) for a book which was favourably reviewed by both the local and international press and caused quite a stir when it was first published because it was one of the first books considered "critical" of Singapore.Ivygohnair 17:34, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Below is the reply by User Utcursh and my reponses to it:
Dear Ms. Ivy Goh Nair, I indeed hate the caste system very much (I'm neither Dalit nor Brahmin -- I am anti-caste person). But that was not the reason I voted "Delete" at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ivy Goh Nair. Had that been the reason, I would have probably moved many other articles to deletion: C. Sankaran Nair, Chandran Nair, Kavalappara Narayanan Nair etc.(never heard of the phrase "going for the soft belly?")Ivygohnair 09:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Writing a book doesn't make a personal notable enough for Wikipedia. The fact that Ivy Goh Nair was written by your husband makes it less verifiable (please see Wikipedia:Autobiography). (Somewhere else the wikepedia rules which are supposed to be only guidelines and flexible, it says that in exceptional cases the article can be edited by the author himself/herself or his agent. In this case both editors are experts in this field and eminently qualified to edit other notables in the field, whatever the relationship may be)Ivygohnair 09:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC) The only criteria for voting delete was non-notability -- please have a look at Wikipedia:Notability (people). I don't claim that I have excellent knowledge about journalism and literature in Singapore( sadly this is indeed the case!)e,Ivygohnair 09:58, 24 October 2006 (UTC) but Wikipedia:Search engine test indicates that you're not notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia: [1][2]. Most of the few search results that I got are from personal sites such as eurekster.com, ivygohnair.tk, brinkster.com etc.
On notability
(I read somewhere in the Wikipedia rules that when a book is not easily available it helps on judging its "notablilty", when a verifiable review is available on the internet. My book was reviewed by the Asian Wall Street Journal when it was first published and here is the link Review by Ian Gill I would like to point out to User Utcursch that even though this review appeared in my own official website, the Asian Wall Street Journal is not an unknown paper and the review can be verifiable from the archives.)Ivygohnair 09:45, 24 October 2006 (UTC) I have dropped a note at Wikipedia talk:SGpedians' notice board -- the discussion page for Wikipedians from Singapore and Wikipedians who are writing about Singapore-related topics.( this was done after the editors had requested the article to be withdrawn , therefore the motives of this user are called into question)Ivygohnair 09:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)I have invited them to to have a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ivy Goh Nair. Just in case the article gets deleted, I will suggest that the content of the article be merged to User:Ivygohnair (see Wikipedia:Userfication).
I hope that this issue doesn't discourage you from contributing to Wikipedia. Please don't take this as an insult. Everyday, Wikipedia gets lots of articles about various people, all of whom may not be notable enough (emphasis on "enough"). Thanks. utcursch | talk 08:26, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
My initial post after the debate continued even after the editor's request for withdrawal of article due the the degeneration of the debate page:Ivygohnair 10:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Hey,
I don't know why this debate is persisting as the request has been made a few days ago to redraw the article by the editors themselves because the debate had degenerated into petty attacks and users deleting favourable comments. I read up Wikipedia rules and while admins are greatly appreciated for the work they do for the site (I am sure you yourself have done a lot) they have an even greater reponsiblity to be fair and even handed . . .User:Ivygohnair|Ivygohnair]] 06:45, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Something bothersome
Dude its either harmless lists or Category:Dalit, Category:Brahmins and the like. Sure, a list may contain cruft, but its much less visible/harmful than a caste based category. I agree the word "famous" should be removed though, because its obvious they're famous (otherwise they wouldn't be notable). To sum it up, I think caste based lists are ok, no one actually looks at it unless they're of that particular caste.Bakaman Bakatalk 01:27, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- If I find a list with "famous" I'll remove the red articles, and move the pages to suitable titles. We shouldn't regard Iyer, Bhumihar, etc. as "castes" they are merely clans, or tribes, or communities.Bakaman Bakatalk 03:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Belgaum
The external section in Belgaon_border_dispute has majority of pro-Kannada links.I hope u wont mind adding 2-3 pro-Marathi links as well. Thanks for reviewing the article.I shall be adding more stuff from the citation soon please keep a eye on it and notify me if I do anything wrong. Thanks a lot for ur time. Formal request for admin intervention
This is phase one of my taking formal action against User:Mahawiki and his friends. Apart from constantly peppering any article they edit with fanatical Maharashtrian POV (note - I am a Maharashtrian and like many others I disagree with them), they do so by hiding behind personal attacks WP:NPA that they use to justify their edits. Mahawiki and his friends pay no attention at all to the readability of an article, and are only interested in getting their POV in.
My next step will be to list them in WP:PAIN, and will take matters progressively higher until these individuals stop their mindless edits that destroy the readability and structure and value of an article, which amounts to vandalism of articles.
In addition, they appear to roam in packs, with one supporting the other in any dispute, giving the hapless editor in their sights no chance at all to present a defence. And their weapon of choice is reverts - they will revert any edit by an editor not part of their pack, without any discussion on the talk page, and without following any of the rules of Wikipedia. User:Mahawiki is most notorious for this.
In the matter of the Belgaum article, it has been proven beyond doubt that User:Mahawiki has no knowledge at all about the city or the people living there, and is simply using the article (and other articles) for propaganda in a highly political campaign. He has contributed nothing of note to most of the articles that he has edited this way, but will launch a personal attack anyone who dares to remove his politico-fanatical edits from the article. He has shown no understanding for the fact that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a platform for politicking.
Before beginning this formal action, I have conferred with several admins and other knowledgable WP people, and have gone through the applicable rules on WP.
- Phase one is contacting admin(s) who are familiar with the situation (we are here)
- This should result in {{subst:Npa2}} and {{subst:Npa3}} notices to the user.
- Phase two is listing a formal complaint on WP:PAIN
- Phase three is taking this matter to WP:AN
- Phase four will be to take the matter to WP:Arbitration.
As you are an admin familiar with the situation, I request you to intervene in this matter. This is not just a matter of the Belgaum article but of many other articles being affected by this user and his friends.

Belgaum article
Dear Utcursh,
Please look at the article the only changes I have made is those.I have moved border dispute section above and placed it after history section. It was originally at bottom and I think the issue is significant enough to placed on top.Other minor changed is that i have added The Maharashtra government contested the inclusion, claiming the district for itself on the grounds that the district had more Marathi speaking people than Kannada speaking people according to 1951 census.Which is in accordance to the citation I have provided and translated on Belgaon border dispute's talk page.
Mr.Chitnis who claims to be from Belgaum and know everything doesnt know that thr Belgaum city is the centre of the dispute! In fact he once said 'if u dont know me u r not from Belgaum!' (yes,i am serious!).One can understand how serious he is on wikipedia! His post to u also meant to threaten me! It is nothing but a personal attack and a bid to scare me off!! All he can do is label my citations and edits as political! God knows what exactly this means.I am not a MES or Sena worker, whatever I edited there was based on facts.
belgaum border dispute article was seperated from main article on Mr.chitnis's insistance. sadly he isnt doing so called 'expansion' or 'improvement' of article as he claimed. I request u to advice on this matter. 11:43, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Dear Utcursh, IMO Border dispute is quite important to be filled in <h3> tags.I strongly recommend to keep the seb-section in '==' tags.It might not be important to Mr.Chitnis but it is an important issue,so important that hon.Supreme Court is involved in it. Please reconsider ur decision.
- I dont think I have done any major changes in article. He is being extremely rude and nagging about 'political edits'. Is all pro-maharashtra 'political'? Please keep the heading bold. I dont mind if u remove so called political citation but please place border dispute section bold and on top of the article.Mahawiki 12:42, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi i read ur msg.Im sorry for my errors. But that guy removed the references. How does the article look ugly if border dispute is placed above. The issue might not be important for him, but it is for lakhs of maharashtrians of border region. I request to reconsider ur decision. I am amazed why is chitnis is so enraged by my edits. Mahawiki 12:46, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Im sorry if im sounding snobbish, but according to me border dispute is no doubt very important issue in belgaum. It certainly deserves a place in top of article and in == tag.A new article was formed upon achitnis's insistance although I wasnt Ok with it. I gave up and i dont think it was a bad move. Minor factual edits and moving up the section is justified. It is so obvious that the issue is alive and very much important when India's two states are face to face and matters are with supreme court. chitnis's statement that 'belgaum is his home so he's the one who should edit it' is mindless.Mahawiki 12:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Sarvagnya and his incivility at Belgaum border dispute
Dear admin, Sarvagnya is back with its rude language and misuse op popups. He is not discussing anything on talk page and just mindlessly reverting Belgaum_border_dispute. I have been adding info on the same article using Marathi newspapers but I have also taken care so as to avoid POV. Utcursh had himself checked the article 2 days back. As a revenge Gnanipati has added stuff from a Kannada newspaper (even though Deccan Herald which is in English and publishes similar pro-K'taka news exists) but with POV and biases. I was just trying to tone down 1-2 sentences when Sarvagnya without any discussion (apart from filthy comments about Shivaji Maharaj which was answered back in similar manner) jumped and is been reverting the article. Please see 1 and 2. I am avoiding furthur edits so as to avoid 3RR.
Kannada editors should understand that i can add similar POV using Marathi citations. It is upon admins if they intervene it will be nice else I will be forced to add Marathi POV to balance the article. Mahawiki 09:50, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- I hope u have noticed the rude language of chitnis and his words like 'fanatic' against. I think this also an personal attack.Anyways I will mind my words while dealing with him. Thanks. Mahawiki 14:01, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Request
It seems u have not read my plea.A bit of POV has been added by Gnanipiti and in response I did the same.I request u to go through belgaum border dispute (yuvamelava subsection) and remove it urself as if I touch edit others editors might indulge in edit wars.I hope I am not causing any trouble to u! The pdf ref on Belgaum border dispute page
Hi Utcursch, As you might know many editors have raised concerns about both the veracity and verifiability of the pdf file that Mahawiki has used as citation. The pdf file has nothing to prove its source and looks extremely suspect with anti Karnataka vitriol in cheap language written all over it. Please comment here. Sarvagnya 06:06, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- iT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT U GAVE IN TO THE KANNADI EDITORS. THIS IS GROSS INJUSTICE. THEIR SURYAKANTH KAMAT IS VALID DECCAN HERALD IS VALID KANNADIPRABHA IS VALID BUT TARUN BHARAT NEEDS VOTE??
- I wonder how voting will work when there are many suspected sockpuppets.
- I went the official way,i didnt took any chances, i submitted the file to u and blnguyen.I am being urging the admins to take a watch on Belgaon/belgaon border dispute.
- All my demands fall on deaf ears be it u or blnguyen.i am not accusing u but by now it clear that there's some kind of prejudice against me lingering in ur minds. But when sarvagnya asked for help,u were quite quick to respond.
- But truth at my side,i am keeping my fingers crossed.I swear I have not made this article myself.IMO,I have added only facts and no POV in article. There is seriously wrong with wikipedia. Mahawiki 14:16, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: User:Nileena joseph's unblock request
Hi, I discussed the situation on IRC with Dmcdevit (the checkuser who ran the check) and he said that the IP is dynamic and if the others are not sockpuppets, the group-voting in the AFD is definitely meatpuppetry. We reckon we should unblock User:Nileena joseph and ask the other users to create new accounts if they wish to edit. They should also be advised to edit seperately from one another and abstain from group-participation in AFD's or any other consensus building process. I'd like to hear what you think about it. --Srikeit (Talk | Email) 09:17, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Is it justifiable.....?
Sir,The article in the page u have protected from further editing(S. Jithesh) is about a noted Kerala Cartoonist. He is an artist who had drawn thousands of book covers in Malayalam. Whether there is any sockpuppetry is in the AfD or not[3] is irrelevent.A person who played in one Oneday cricket match is notable and a cartoonist who had drawn thousands of cartoons is non-notable. Is it justifiable...? Usually editors of encyclopedia are experts in such fields. In wikipedia it is edited by teenage computer professionals. They may be expert in computer related subjects,or films,or cricket, but not in art or literature. Atleast in Kerala related subjects in wikipedia things are going in that way...!Administrators just check the notability of the artist. Doing sockpuppetry or any thing on the page of a wellknown kerala cartoonist does not make him non notable. U know cartoonist used to get the enemity of many. He is a notable and highly controversial. Through his sharp nib of pen and brush he used to attack nasty polititians and communal brigades. This might have provoked many. Regarding RfC
- - Thanks for the input on the notice board
- - I don't really understand how to file an RfC. A troll filed one against me User:Bakasuprman/Rfcopy but I don't know how to get that format for the Kannada-Marathi bakwaas. Which user should I file it for? Wikipedia:Request for comment/Redvers was filed by Sarvagnya against an admin that told him to find something better to do. Mahawiki says he left the encyclopedia, but I emailed him to try dispute resolution (because Marathi and Kannada users should get over their useless ethnic chauvinism). Also look at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Sarvagnya, it may be of interest to you. The resulting discussion is found here on An Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser.2FCase.2Fsarvagnya - Bakaman Bakatalk 02:08, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Please delete all these pages too
Respected sir, U may be pleased to delete all these pages and protect them from further editing. Kottakkal Sivaraman, P. K. Manthri, P. K. Gopi, Topgear, D. Vinayachandran, E. P. Unni, Sudhir Tailang, Kunjunni, P. K.Venukuttan Nair, Samakalika Malayalalam , Vellinakshatram, Shankar (cartoonist) Cinema Mangalam, Balamangalam , Kanyaka , Madhupal, Bhashaposhini, Induchoodan, M. V. Devan, C. N. Karunakaran, K. Ayyappa Panicker. Anyway u should delete the article of P. K. Manthri- A kerala cartoonist. All these pages are created by me. I have created the page of P. K. Manthri because he is one of the most popular cartoonist of Kerala. But unfortunately no google hits or external references are not here to prove his notability. The reason is so so simple. Reports or news from Malayalam Language Newspaper is not available in google. Can u say that P. K. Manthri is non notable in the field of cartoons. If u comment so all the Keralites will laugh at u. Anyway I'm going to stop wikipedia editing for ever.I cant tolerate ignorance of a few Kerala wikipedians. I think that will give happiness and joy for them. Those who hate art and literature will laugh...I'm sure. Nileena joseph 19:48, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Undelete - S. Jithesh
Hello Utcursch,
- Please undelete S. Jithesh - He is a noted cartoonist in Malayalam cartoon field. No google hits does'nt imply that he is not notable or famous. That is what we Wikipedians are for:)!!
Regards
Hello Utcursch,
So what is the status about S. Jithesh? Actually I was going through the Tug Wars between some users regarding this topic. As I understood people voting for deletions are not expert in that field (In this case Literature), but they are really expert in some other topics. Some users are expert in the subject but they do not understand languages like Malayalam . So in my opinion the only solution is that before deleting any article, should ask advice to the experts in that field, in this case Literature, secondly go through the previous articles written by the user related to the same subjects (Literature etc.).
Regards
Please Keep the article
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/S. Jithesh (2nd nomination)Have a look...? The person who put this article for AfD himself says that he is facing mental problems..!See this person's userpageUser:Ageo020. For these guys wikipedia is just for kidding.Conspirasy against this article is cleared from his talkpages.I have been using wikipedia for two years. I accidently came to see this site. I was searching a biography of a person inorder to write his obituary for our newspaper. That search lead me to wikipedia. But I started editing before three or four months. I'm not a computer professional. That is my only disqualification. All the imputations raised against me are baseless.. But I promoted many journalists and artist to visit and edit wikipedia inorder to improve it. Most of them hesitated, but a few asked me about the tachniques of editing. I helped them. That's what's happened. In addition to that I'm using the internet connection of a news paper company. Hundreds of journalists are working along with me. Here often ignorance and conspiracy wins. Knowledge fails. What a pathatic situation...? I respect knowledge. But I hate ignorance and intolerance. See my opinion in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Kerala . Unfortunately Malayalam news paper reports is not available in google...! News even from Malayala Manorama is not available in google search. But I can upload scanned copies of newspapers. My opinion is that personal clashes between wiki editors must not kill good articles. I'm talking about a few Kerala wikipedians.Nileena joseph 05:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Nikhil Parekh
I have just placed this notice on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nikhil Parekh page, and am bringing every voter's attention to it as promised.
Comment. Sigh. Despite the inevitable tirade that this will unleash, I am sorry to have to bring new information to the table. I have this morning received an email from Vijaya Ghose, editor of the Limca Book of Records. "Dear Mr (----), We have enlisted a couple of claims of Nikhil Parekh. Longest Poem is not one of them. He has formidable competition in John Milton's Paradise Lost and our own Mahabharata. However, he has written to many heads of state and has received replies but not from the head of state but the secretary or executive assistant. He is is the first from India to feature on Eppie. We checked with them. Regards Vijaya Ghose. So Parekh, though probably not notable as a poet, is indeed an Indian world record holder. I suspect that this changes the balance on his notability, though the article would still require a great deal of clear-up. I will notify everyone who took part in this vote and ask admins to extend debate a little. Sorry.
I don't know whether this changes your vote, but thought you should know. Vizjim 06:06, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

GFP Personal Finance Manager
I disagree, if you type gfp and “personal finance” on google you will see that the first 10 result pages are about the software, some of then not in English (Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, French), indeed the software is more used for people that does not speak English natively. Even if you type only GFP on google you will see that that 7th result is about GFP, but it isn’t in Enlgish. It was published in an article on Italian Magazine named “PC Professional” (It’s obviously written in Italian) as you can see clicking on the link in this article: http://gfd.sourceforge.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=12. There are articles about GFP on http://opensourceinstall.org/ (In Chinese), and http://www.clubedohardware.com.br/ (In Brazilian Portuguese). In any of these articles it is indicated as a good Open source and multi platform alternative to MS Money. Just because its popularity in other languages is grater them in English, isn’t a reason to remove it from English idiom articles (the idea is that with the English article on wikipedia users that speak others languages in witch GFP is more used can write their idiom translation). And there are other similar software topics on wikipedia see, some of then not so expressive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JGnash http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddi for example.
