What happened with this mediation? I just noticed that I am still listed as the only mediator there. It seems as soon as you accepted, everybody gave up on it. Can it be closed? — Sebastian 05:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I'd ask you to look again. The last entry you deleted was entirely original, including an opening paragraph explaining the importance of the biography. Job history can't be copyrighted. The entry may have similar job history facts, but it was created entirely from scratch. As in any biography, historical information will be similar in nature.

Brian Bolter

What do you keep deleting my entry for Brian Bolter? It fits the living biography category. And none of it is copyrighted material because I wrote it with my own words. Can you restore the original page? Otherwise, you've simply thrown away all that time and original effort for no reason.

I was just getting ready to complain -- I don't know what happened -- but thanks for reverting the all the "Hindu musicians" categorizing. That was ugly. Zora 08:25, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

I would disagree for ravi shankar, and amit kumar. I saw amit kumar pray in front of me with my own eyes. The guidelines on religion in WP:CAT are weak, and dont even discuss the issue. Its not like there's any ambiguity to their beliefs or that I'm somehow randomly adding people. You yourself agreed that they definitely are Hindu, and its not like Hindu is an epithet. I merely added who I saw on Lists of Hindus.Bakaman 04:07, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Could you give your two cents on Via Galactica?

Hi. You recently deleted Via Galactica based on a CopyVio tag I placed on it. The user has been raising hell about it on my talk page and a accusing me of, among other things, falsly tagging the article. If you could drop over and give any thoughts you have on the matter, I'd appreciate it. (I don't know why he won't just drop it, since he has recreated the article, and it's now really good.) NipokNek 16:59, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

It's not problem, and I apologize if I came accross as combative. It's quality of the articles is what's important. I respect your view. --Oakshade 17:15, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello

Thanks for your note of explanation. I'm glad you understand my creative process since it appears we work in the same way. At the time the page was saved (my intent was merely to preview it, so I'm not sure how that happened), the "article" consisted of some random thoughts without punctuation - no beginning, middle, or end. I can't imagine why the editor who flagged it as a copyright violation didn't stop to think that something was amiss. In any event, Via Galactica now is complete. Thanks again. How about putting it on Uncyclopedia?

I think I understand what you mean about the "List of Hotseat Contestants of KBC3" article. This information was actually in the main KBC article and I had created a new article for this list so it doesn't interfere with the more "important" information. I don't really see how it makes a really big difference whether to have it on a separate wikipedia article or not. But an alernate I see would be to put this list on Uncyclopedia.org where they allow this sort of information. Should I shift the article to that website before someone deletes it? or can you please completely verify that this article will be deleted in the near future? Thanks --Bhavesh Chauhan 02:02, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Indian Art Awards

Hi Utcursh,

we are in the process of trying to find reliable measures of notability for artist, and one point of consensus seems to be that we should have a list of notable art awards. Are the most notable Indian ones in our list or, if not, could you add them including eligibility criteria and awarding criteria? Thanks Alf photoman 14:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Better than a list, we have Category:Art awards, please feel free to expand as you see fit. We are also working on Wikipedia:Notability (artists), and there we would also love to have some input. Thanks a lot Alf photoman 14:23, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Lalu Yadav

User:Ikonoblast is in violation of wikipedia's policy of NPOV. He has single handedly managed to turn the article on Lalu Prasad Yadav as an eulogy in the praise of the corrupt politician, while neglecting/trivializing his misdeeds and perceptions in the mainstream society. The article is highly unencyclopedic and non-neutral. Please do not let him meddle with my clean-up, which I shall keep trying.Cygnus_hansa 23:23, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Here's a template to use in an AfD, when it has been listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual arts (please do list appropriate AfDs there). I think it should go under the article details and above the nom statement, as it is a formal notice and not part of the debate. It will sign your name with date stamp automatically. Please pass on to others.

Mnemonic: List of Visual arts-related Deletions.

Template to use:

Wasn't your mistake actually. It's was part of a series of articles created by a user; all of those articles lacked context and would have looked nonsense to anybody who is unfamiliar with the topic. utcursch | talk 10:56, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Katrina Kaif

The Katrina Kaif article is being consistently vandalized (or Page 3'd) by a single person. I have rvv'd it now, but maybe there is a bunch of IP addresses out there that needs blocking. :) Achitnis 09:23, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Also, I suspect that the picture used in that article represents a copyright violation or other misrepresentation. Not really sure how to prove it either way. Any thoughts? Achitnis 09:44, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
I know, except for one catch - does that look like a screenshot from a game to you? Ultima V using an image of Katrina Kaif? Very unlikely :) This was the original image on that article which someone overwrote with a posterized picture of KK. :) Achitnis 09:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Bhopal, Sites of Interest

Utcursch, according to Wikipedia's structure given in the Indian Cities Project, there is no place for heading under sites of interest. I have incorporated these in the Wikitravel's Bhopal page. Also those points were kind of an eyesore as compared to the other well structured paragraghs. Similarily, another editor deleted the list of schools and colleges, quoting that Wikipedia is not a directory. I hope you get my point. Chintu rohit 14:06, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I didn't tag the article as speedy or proposed deletion; it was User:Zazaban who did that. I just informed User:Satbahadur. utcursch | talk 17:24, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Use of English

Thank you Utcursch for your help in shaping out the Bhopal page. But I would like to remind you that in the Indian Cities Project, Wiki spells out that the English used should be British and not American. Hence the spellings of 'fervour' and 'organised' were that way in the culture section. I hope you would agree with me.

Caste Articles

Hello mate. I noticed you wrote the caste articles here on the Indian caste system and its subarticles. Overall I found them to be good resources, but one of the citations I checked seems to be inconsistent with what is written in the articles. In the Indian caste system article, you wrote that "Some sources state that the castes among Muslims developed as the result of close contact with Hindu culture and Hindu converts to Islam[18][19][20][21], while others feel that these developed based on the claims of descent from the prophet Mohamed[22][23]." I checked citations most of the citations in this sentence and while the first four support the first clause, citations 22 and 23 do not seem to support what is said in the article. Citation 22 states something along the lines of "Muslim writers are not influenced by the Hindu castes" but it doesn't precisely say that Muslim castes were not influenced by the Hindu castes. I think the same inconsistency can be found in the "Caste system among South Asian Muslims" subarticle. Please look into this and let me know what you think. By the way, one of the citations can be found on Google books here: http://books.google.com/books?vid=ISBN0887069185&id=UyrTm4k29UMC&pg=PA116&lpg=PA116&vq=nasab&dq=Advice+on+the+art+of+governance,an+Indo-Islamic+Mirror+for+Princes&sig=_awYsO_kucOslCLofwr74agrprQ

I will continue to check the article and let you know if anything comes up during my research. Thanks a lot, Agoras.

User:Johnvasai & User:Vasaijohn

Hi, I thought i'd let you know that i consider the sockpuppet tag for User:Vasaijohn a bit premature. From what it seems he may have created an ID of Johnvasai first(on 1st march 2007) and then must have decided that VasaiJohn was a better username and created a new userid instead of chnaging his display name. Johnvasai's last edit is on 10th March 2007 and VasaiJohn starts on 11th March. Johnvasai hasn't made any new edit after Vasaijohn came into the picture. Well actually even Johnvasai hasnt made any edit after 11th march.

The names are too close to suggest that he did it out of some mal-intention. maybe he just wanted to change his username.

So I guess it would be better to withdraw the tag and help him delete his original id or something(I dont knwo , can that be done?)

OK, thats true. --Deepak D'Souza 11:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Capt. Sunil Khokhar Blankings

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Capt. Sunil Khokhar. Your edits could be considered vandalism, and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. BaseballDetective 12:11, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to delete or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Capt. Sunil Khokhar, you will be blocked from editing. BaseballDetective 12:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Capt. Sunil Khokhar

Regarding my edits, the fact remains that notability was not claimed at all in any way in the article in queston for Capt. Sunil Khokhar. If someone were to simply write two sentences and say they received the Congressional Medal of Honor I would react the same way. Both are proud achievements, but notability requires more than hearsay: "A topic is notable if it has been the subject of at least one substantial or multiple, non-trivial published works from sources that are reliable and independent of the subject and of each other."

Regarding warnings, I'm sorry but you are simply blanking valid concerns and reverting unfounded gossip about someone who can't be verified. If you believe I am abusing my right to do so, I welcome you to report my actions. --BaseballDetective 12:24, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

The external links provide 100% of nothing. One is a link to a dead page. The other is a link to a body buidling competition and nothing more. Had you followed them to begin with instead of blanking my tags, you might have come to the same conclussion sooner. --12:35, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Excellent work on the link. But you do realize that the link in the original article did not go to the URL you now showed me? And that if you knew about that URL you should have simply added it to the article with your other edits and comments? Ultimately, verifiable information trumps all. And you did a fine job in this case. --BaseballDetective 12:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
