Hello, Thine Antique Pen. You have new messages at Deathlaser's talk page.
Deathlaser : Chat 12:26, 20 May 2012 (UTC) Message added 12:26, 20 May 2012 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template. Yeah can you give Deathlaser some guidance with Mordellistena liljebladi.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:37, 20 May 2012 (UTC) He's continuing to create others. I've spoken to him but he thinks we're attacking him.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:49, 20 May 2012 (UTC) Careful, Mordellistena lonai etc still have Costa, 1854 in the infobox..♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:03, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
What discovered in 1854 yet the body and category says 1949? Also, today's date is 20 May...♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:08, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Ray the beetle guy
[edit]Extended content
|
---|
Hi. In your new beetle article (Pseudotomoxia albonotata) it says it was discovered by Ray. (I don't know whether it means he found it, classified it, or both.) It made me smile to read it though. I just get this mental picture of an enthusiastic guy named Ray, armed with a screwtop jar, hunting for insects! In reality he's simply got one of those surnames also used as a first name. I think, you're referring to naturalist Eugene Ray. --92.6.200.56 (talk) 17:47, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
(←) On a closer look I'm not sure if the whole taxonomy is right. :-\ Perhaps you could look into it. The list used as a ref seems unsure if it's a nom. praeocc., what it comes under or what to call it period. See also Tomoxioda, Tomoxia, Pseudotomoxia which overlap/relate. ITIS doesn't seem to think it exists. Also don't take this the wrong way...but I don't think Wikipedia:WikiProject Beetles is a genuine WikiProject. It was just a page created one day by a sockpuppet of an indef-blocked user. --92.6.200.56 (talk) 22:26, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

United Kingdom roads
[edit]Extended content

If you are into roads, we could definitely do with having stubs filled into the redirects of all of the A roads of the UK in the articles of Template:United Kingdom roads. Ideally we'd have articles on all of the B roads too.. You could probably create some stubs using google maps to find length.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:49, 20 May 2012 (UTC) BTW I spotted errors, Stenalia atricolor you claim 1926, 1957 and 1856 all in the same article!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:57, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

My apologies
[edit]I'm really sorry - I've just realised that by leaving you that message yesterday I unwittingly gave you a lot of grief. If I had checked around a little bit more before writing it, I might have realised that the patrol log I saw was due to the autopatrolled user right, and saved you some of the hassle you got. My timing probably couldn't have been worse, with all the discussion at WP:AN and all those eyes on your talk page. So please accept my apologies for goofing up good and proper, and for causing you what must have been a lot of distress. Let me know if there's anything I can do to make it up to you. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 13:34, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

No, it was technically never granted. I've requested a lot of userrights, and ended up with a topic ban from requesting them. I got nom'd by 3 editors for autopatrolled, was accepted, then removed per topic ban. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 17:09, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Well, someone 'filed' the request without me knowing, and I saw it on my watchlist. Anyway, if I ever want rights, MBisanz said I have to go to WP:AN requesting that I can request them. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 17:54, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Hrere's what!
[edit]Here is what you need to do:
- Stop visiting my talk page
- Don't comment on me anywhere on this wiki
- Don't critisize and attack me like you did on sunday
- I will not do the same to you
This is to prevent further disruption and accusations-I personally don't want an intervention ban.--Deathlaser : Chat 16:05, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- First point, I don't visit there anymore. Second, there may be times which are needed, even if good. Third, 'criticize' — It was meant to be just something to point out to you, and what you should do in later times – I'm glad you made the stubs better. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 16:08, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- One final thing, on your /TAPmistakes page — blank it and change the content to
{{db-userreq}}
then it will get deleted quicker in the correct way. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 16:10, 22 May 2012 (UTC)- I'm not trying to attack you and that but you say one thing and Sharlott says another thing - And guess who gets blamed? (ME).--Deathlaser : Chat 16:56, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Beetle stubs
[edit]Extended content

Since Deathlaser delete my comment, I am adding it to your talk page if you dont mind. I think you read it, but just to be sure. Anyway: I dont know why that many people are interested in making beetle stubs all at once, but you seem to be one of them. Sadly, everyone making them is making the same mistakes. Might I give you some pointers? You should add the "species", "binomial" and "binomial_authority" parameters to your taxobox and lose the genus authority (since your article is about a species and not the genus). Furthermore, the name of the species in the first line of text should be bold and italic. And please, could you at least add some info about the species to the article? The bare minimum would be the distribution (where does this species live?). Have a look at Mordellistena martapurana. I changed everything that needs changing to the taxobox. Furthermore, the distribution is listed on the site you use as a reference. It is found behind the species name in brackets. Ruigeroeland (talk) 09:03, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Could you take a look at my template? User:Thine Antique Pen/sandbox2. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 09:57, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
I guess. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 10:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

- The binomial authority is still not okay. The brackets should enclose the name AND year, not only the year. So not "Walker (1810)", but "(Walker, 1810)". You should also seperate the name and year with a comma. Furthermore, if you dont add any more info, there is a serious risk that your articles will be turned into a redirect to the genus page, since you provide no more info than available on the genus page already (the name, ref and authority are also provided on the genus page, so what is the added value of your article?). I will not do this myself because I dont really agree with doing this, but I know of some administrators who do. Just to give you a heads up and potentially save you a lot of useless work and irritation. If articles like the ones you make appear about moths and butterflies, I expand them, but I do not have the time to expand all of your beetle articles and in my experience, there are no other active users who will. Ruigeroeland (talk) 13:21, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
I'll change it. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 13:24, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again, but you still make some mistakes and if you mass create articles, you should not make mistakes. Regarding the Orthomegas articles: in the species parameter in the taxobox, the genus name should be shortened to O. (it should be written in full in the binomial parameter though). Regarding brackets around the authority: only use brackets when the source does. Dont ADD them if they are not there in the source. Like I said earlier: they actually have meaning. Furthermore, PLEASE add the distribution. The source has it listed right beside the species name. It is hardly any more work to do so and you save others the trouble of having to do it for you. A tag has been placed on I am learning requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. China
[edit]If you look at a global map coverage on wikipedia in relation to the country area is not bad. But if you examine a map of China in particular the coverage on here is shocking beyond belief. In relation to the population of China representing 1/5 of the world population roughly and the sheer number of towns with sizeable populations, some with millions still missing on wikipedia I personally see improving coverage of China one of the most important priorities for the whole website. Whilst Jaguar's new stubs are far from ideal as a start, I appear to be the only one who can really see the importance of having encyclopedia articles on them. We could potentially have hundreds of articles on topics within each township. Some townships cover tens of thousands of square kilometres. China and much of Russia is a blackhole on wikipedia in terms of knowledge. We should really be trying to organize something which can productively and efficiently produce articles on them and overide the articles. Nuking them all in my opinion is not a move forward, problematic or not. They could be recreated by a bot, as indeed could most articles on species. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:10, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- My reason to nuke them is the sheer fact that it would take longer for any bot under policy or living human to fix them. My stubs at least have the correct source for every article. With Jaguar's stubs, it would be quicker for a bot to create them all, with automated Chinese translations, leading to the correct references and coordinates. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 19:23, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've added a proposed resolution there. --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 19:33, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Well lets face it, he isn't going to is he... I'd be interested in seeing the programming behind the Chinese bot.., But above all my best advice to you personally would be to stay well away from ANI like I generally do as ANI has a way of turning the tables on you, and it might be you being attacked before long. It attracts all sorts of malicious assholes who exist on here purely to try to cause drama and attack other editors rather than focus on what we are really here for.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:37, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well, with my 600 stub category fixing which took 4 solid hours, I worked out it would take him around 24 hours of non-stop work, as there is more work involved. I often stay away from ANI, but I once contacted Jaguar about the Chinese articles, and he said that he would 'love' creating many more of the same ones. I didn't reply to the email. Anyway; thanks for reviewing my DYK nom! --Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 19:42, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Adoption
[edit]Hello Thine Antique Pen! Of course I would love to be your third adopter. I run an adoption school, which has been praised by many users. I'll be happy to adopt you because I enjoy working with others – especially to help them become a better editor on Wikipedia!
Take a look at my edit history; I usually work at Articles for Deletion, Articles for Creation, in new page patrolling, and in vandalism-fighting. I have been an editor on Wikipedia for a year, and have made over 15,000 edits to the encyclopedia.
I'm usually available on Wikipedia from 0:00 - 5:00 and occasionally from 12:00-16:00 (all times UTC). I travel frequently, usually on business trips around the world. I'm so young, yet so busy.

[edit]Thine Antique Pen, I think it's best if you stay away from User:Deathlaser. The article Dictionary of Botany has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No claim of WP:NOTABILITY; it's not even clear if the book being referred to and the website used as reference are the same material, they may just have the same name.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nat Gertler (talk) 18:43, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Hello, my English is not too perfect so please excuse it, however I see you are frequent editor and writer of articles as well as near native francophone speaker, so I propose you translate more Abbaye de Chaalis (from French wiki) as the Chaalis Abbey corresponding page in English is a ébauche- as I believe they call it. I grew up in Oise and visited l'abbaye some times before, I know you write many articles and are busy but I just want to know if you have time for translating some little more of this information, est-ce possible? Or point me in the direction for how to do translation, is there required program etc.? I do not know if French wiki has direction for such task, however if you can find it I would like to know it because it is not easy for me reading longer directions in English. Also if it is complicated for explaination of translation I hope it is not too much if you use French for explaination, again sorry for my bad English!! Merci beaucoup, Gérard — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.78.111.197 (talk) 06:21, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Dual accounts
[edit]Hi there, I see that your alternate account at User:Tomtomn00 is still receiving posts and looks like an active primary user talk page. You had a message from another editor about the GA mentors list which still has your old user name active upon it. I think it might be a good idea if you went round any pages such as this where your old user name is present and redircted them to your new one. Plus in that particular case, I think the advice to remove yourself as a GA reviewer is good. Get a little more experience under your belt or people are likely to think you are badge-hunting!
If the old account is purely for occasional use in public places the I think it would be less confusing if you made a hard redirect from the alternate to the main account, which would prevent any further confusion about accounts. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 10:50, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Honeypot Wood
[edit]On 29 May 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Honeypot Wood, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Honeypot Wood was used as a bomb dump in World War II? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Honeypot Wood. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Thanks and advice
[edit]Thank you for the barnstar. It's depressing to have to delete so much, but that's the downside of an anyone-can-edit site; I have been pushing the idea that we should make it rather clearer at sign-on time that Wikipedia is not like Myspace and that "anyone can edit" doesn't mean "anyone can put in whatever they like".
One piece of advice - you are tagging A3s like Kinathukadavu-Ramesh and MS SeaFrance Renoir rather too quickly. The first was obvious spam, but the second was evidently trying to make an article. People ought to wait to press "Save page" until they have assembled something that looks like an article, but newbies don't know that, and often put in a few words and press "Save page" to see how it looks: it is discouraging if a speedy tag pops up soon. For A1s or A3s you should normally wait 10 - 15 minutes to see if anything more appears - see {{uw-hasty}}. If not, one can give advice about how to make a userspace draft - see what I have added to User talk:Bennyboy2012.
Keep at it: New Page Patrol sours the soul, so that it is too easy for one's attitude to change from "Is there a possible article here?" to "How can we get rid of this?"; but it's a vital part of keeping the encyclopedia going. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:01, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

GOCE May drive wrap-up
[edit]Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 54 people who signed up this drive, 32 copy-edited at least one article. Last drive's superstar, Lfstevens, again stood out, topping the leader board in all three categories and copy-editing over 700 articles. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We were once again successful in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog—while removing 1166 articles from the queue, the second-most in our history. The total backlog currently sits at around 2600 articles, down from 8323 when we started out just over two years ago. Coodinator election: The six-month term for our third tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the fourth tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. Joel Hallan’s Biology Catalog
[edit]Explained
|
---|
Hey Pen, thanks for creating the new Coleoptera articles. You should be aware though that Joel Hallan’s Biology Catalog isn't a good source to use for taxonomy. A lot of his taxonomy is really, really, really outdated, like it includes taxons that haven't been used for 100 years. I'm only familiar with arachnid taxonomy, so his beetle taxonomy might be more up to date, but you should use it with skepticism. Kaldari (talk) 20:38, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

- Deathlaser, I wouldn't worry much about article length - it has been experimentally proven that article length is not a barrier to GA or FA. References are far more important than length.
- Interesting article. I would elaborate the individual sections, and, because the lead should summarise the article (WP:LEAD you will have to read that and many other MoS pages if you want to achieve a GA), rewrite the lead from scratch only when the article is mostly finished. →Στc. 22:04, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Autopatrolled
[edit]I just assigned you the autopatrolled right. See my comment on the RFPERM page, it's no feather in your cap but a convenience for those who do NPP, which is a kind of sucky job. I'll be keeping an eye on you (not in a "gotcha" kind of way, just don't want you to make grave errors) and I'll ping you if I see something that needs fixing. I won't hesitate to remove the right if there's simply too much that needs fixing, then we can go back to letting the NPPers take care of it. You've been doing so much better - I've been keeping an eye from afar since the drama boards crap - and I hope to see you continue to improve. You've got a lot of potential, and I don't want to see it go to waste. If you need anything - admin stuff, a thorough article review, help finding sources - I'm always willing to help you, or anyone else. Cheers! :) Keilana|Parlez ici 21:02, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

[edit]In all the articles you are creating on "Copelatus" species, you are using the ref "Miller,K.B, Blake,M. The unusual occurrence of aquatic beetles in amber, copelatus aphroditae balke, n. sp. and C. predaveterus miller, n. sp., (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae: Copelatinae). Proc. of the Entomological Society of Washington, 2003, vol. 105, no4, pp. 809-815. Retrieved on 7 June 2012". This publication is about two fossil species. - Hi Mr Pen, I think you may have passed some DYK's for Laura before. She is a hard worker and the only problems I have seen are the hooks pushing the limit for length, or once someone complained it was too negative. The articles themselves are always compliant with DYK. Unless Laura is going to package hundreds of DYKs for a thesis, I don't know where she finds the time! But please do a thorough review giving a statement for each part of the review criteria. Then the prep builders can have confidence. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 13:08, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

- Half the ones I've been nominating recently I have had sitting around in my user space for a while. (Work list was up to 75 at one point. Down to 35 think.) The average article takes about 2 hours to get DYK ready. Thesis will get done. I regret the latest Bieber one at DYK but meh. Morocco
[edit]Gosh, you're impressionable! If you want to create articles on Moroccan communes you're going to have to be very careful with the province and commune vs municipality names and categories and ensuring there are not errors. But please hold off on starting any more provinces until the provincial templates are made. You will also need to do dabbing for some and also ensure you add the template and new categories to each article and create.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:21, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Mwhahahaha. I'm only doing Al Haouz Province for now, Doc! Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 19:23, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
An ideal stub would look like Ouirgane of course but if you are keen on creating them that's at least a start. Please hold off on the creation until the templates are made because I don't want to have to cleanup existing articles and route out the ones which haven't got the new cats and template/ Before you start each province please ensure you add two categories and the provincial template to the footer of existing articles before staritng and you may have to dab links which point to other articles with xxx, Morocco etc. Meanwhile I have some PD material you can start if you desire.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:45, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Link and I'll mass create anything. Also, see this. Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 19:47, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
OK. If you see this you'll find 8000 articles needing creation. I started this. See how to link to wiki source in the reference. Basically you visit an entry there click edit and where it says wikipedia= you add the wikipedia article link then create. However some things you need to do:
- a] Ensure there is no existing wikipedia article of that name. If so you will need to dab and add the correct link and also add the name in a hat note at the top of page of the same name or dab page on wikipedia. For this very reason I would avoid the entries which appear to have multiple entries of the same name.
- b] Try to add a profession category, 15th-century English people or whatever and the date of birth and death if the article can it.
- c] You will need to wikify the text a bit, wiki link a few important towns or people and ensure it is formatted like Robert de Bereford rather than an exact copy. But it shouldn't take long to clean and start and once you get into the swing of things. But be careful, some may be Scottish, even Irish so you'll need to get the categories right. Also most of the text in brackets mentioning document source or whatever can be removed.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:14, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've done John de Berewyk. Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 20:28, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
See my additions to it. Also you will need to visit here click edit and enter the wikipedia article name where it says wikipedia=. This will then remove it from the category you initially looked at. OK?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:36, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- These sound a fair bit more complicated, so, even once you get going, they will need doing quite slowly. There's no point doing 8000 of them and then discovering that approx 5% of the nationality categories are wrong and no-one knows which they are so no-one can correct them without re-examing all 8000 individually. That's potentially getting into "better off not doing them at all" territory. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:37, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Not really, if Thine wants to become a great new article contributor I'm sure he'll have no difficulty merely copying text from wikisource and add a few [[]] and categories. The vast majority are English anyway.. The text is essentially there to copy. I suspect though he's more interested in the ones he can factory create at a higher rate but its nice to create a few every now and then.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:45, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User talk:Tomtomn00
[edit]Hello Thine Antique Pen, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User talk:Tomtomn00, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Usertalk pages may not be deleted. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:29, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, everything on there is just archived and it redirects here. Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 09:31, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- The reason for not deleting it is that even if empty, the edit history can be consulted to tell the history of that talk page. Once it's deleted that history is lost and can't be consulted. So unless there are extremely good reasons, talk pages are preserved for the sake of the records they allow access to. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 09:49, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Bulgaria
[edit]OK. If you could create articles the rest of the Bulgarian villages for Ardino like Ahryansko. All of the data is available in here and if you look down the side you'll see the villages under each municipality and just the reference link changes by the name of the village on the end. If you take the time to study it, how the coordinates are entered and the data you should be able to come up with a template which produce some useful stubs on these. When you finish the municipality i'll update your template to start another and so on. OK?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:29, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah start Bashevo and I'll review it to check for errors and then give you the go ahead for the others!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:37, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Change the date to 8 June, just spotted it. Also you need to change the name in the title of the sources. A subst:PAGENAME ought to do it. I'll fix your template. But if the titles are dabbed they'll have to be fixed afterwards as the link won't be correct.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:57, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- subst:PAGENAME seems to not work in the reference. :/ Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 13:11, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah you'll just have to quickly correct then like you did with the last two which look perfectly fine I think. You'll get into a stride I'm sure.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:14, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, okay. Mwhahahaha Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talk • contributions) 13:15, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
In a way your template functions partly as a bot as it minimizes the chances of errors in tapping in the Bulgarian name and data twice and forgetting to update one of them by just tapping the digit in once when you create. Very evil indeed!♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:19, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

DYK for The Wedding Dance
[edit]On 9 June 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Wedding Dance, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that in The Wedding Dance (pictured), a 1566 oil painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, the movements of the people show that they are acting inappropriately or in an epitome of rustic buffoonery? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Wedding Dance. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Bul and Moroc
[edit]Next municipality ready in your User talk:Thine Antique Pen/sandbox17, just move it into the main page once you've done the current municipality. With Morocco, if you want to work on them you're going to have to be responsible for creating new categories by province for the settlements and removing the old regional categories, adding either Municipalities of Morocco or Rural communes of Morocco to the existing articles, adding the provincial nav box ensuring that each blue link points to the correct article before starting and if not dabbing them accordingly. Like this for altering existing articles] rural communes category though for rural communes. Once you've done that then you can start the missing ones.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:03, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- I started Sidi Kacem Province (Mwhahaha)! I'll allow you to make a new subpage every time. Moving talk to sandbox22. ⇒TAP 13:05, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Before you start please do this to the blue linked ones and create new provincial categories with three categories, 1]Parent region 2]By Moroccan province 3]Province category like this. Otherwise you'll be creating a mess as they won't all be sorted and I won't know which need fixing. I'd rather though you work down through the Calliopjen list systematically though rather than picking provinces at random as I'll lose track of things and what's been done..♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:08, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Nono. Stop LOL. Sidi Ahmed Benaissa is a rural commune. not a municipality, the category is wrong. You'll need to do the munipcalities first then adjust your sandbox and do rural communes. Please listen to what I said about sorting out the existing articles first otherwise you'll be creating a mess for me to have to sort out.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:14, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- I did mine. (Sidi Ahmed Benaissa, Oulad Nouel, Moulay Abdelkader, Lamrabih, Bni Oual and Ain Dfali). Regards, ⇒TAP 13:17, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
"I did mine" is not good enough. The existing articles need to be sorted first. Ouezzane points to the wrong article. It needs to be filled with one for that province and a hat note at the top to the other article. C'mon take some responsibility on this, otherwise its more destructive than constructive as half of them will be wrong categories and missing the modifications. Never start creating on a new province until the modifications have been made to all of the existing articles first, see what I've said above. I'm having to chase you on this when I was busy elsewhere.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:19, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Doing. ⇒TAP 13:22, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
All you have to do when you start each province is click each blue link and add this and then if one or two point to a wrong article just dab them. One you've cleared em you can then just drill them any munciipalities first, then adjust your sandbox to drill the rural communes, no worries, but it has to be done first before you start..♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:23, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Tekna wrong article link too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:25, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Tekna, Morocco, = (Masmouda) also dab the link on the Province article. Once you get the hang of sorting out the existing articles or faulty links you should get the hang of it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:30, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- I believe that I'm done! ⇒TAP 13:37, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Free to drill the remaining now. But you see how it gets messy if you don't systematically fix them first.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:40, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Aye, okay! ⇒TAP 13:41, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
You can start another province afterwards and I want to see how you handle the category sorting and creation/ template adding to the existing articles/dabbing before starting. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:40, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Eh, OKay! ⇒TAP 13:42, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Template:Kénitra Province, same region, difference province. Watching you to see how it goes. I wouldn't advise creating zillions of sandboxes. Only keep one for Bulgaria and one for Morocco as all you need to do is just update the province/region and for Bulgaria also the guide bulgaria link.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:50, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done fixes. I even had to move Haddada, a page you created to Haddada, Algeria. ⇒TAP 14:03, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
You forgot to change the region populated places category to a provincial one.. Create one like this for Kenitra and ensure the articles also have the municipal or rural communes categories. OK?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:05, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
When you add the templates at the bottom just fix the categories too like this. Its more efficient if you do the template adding a category fixes together like this. Anyway, good job on the dabbing I think.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:11, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- OKay, done. ⇒TAP 14:15, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Excellent. Look good to go. The next province will be sorted perfectly of course!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:21, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done. ⇒TAP 14:31, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Great, now the next I want to see you do the lot correctly, create a template add the right region in your sandbox, right region in the category you will create etc.. A barnstar will be given for an entirely correctly done province without my assistance!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:39, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done. ⇒TAP 14:55, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

I won't be fully convinced though until you can do a biggy which needs quite a few fixes and that first. If so you can do the lot, so long as you follow exactly what I've said here.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:59, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Mwhahaha! I'll pick a very big one. ⇒TAP 15:01, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Done, made all articles. ⇒TAP 16:13, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
OK, so long as you take the responsibility to do the prior sorting and reorganizing correctly when you start each province, you can do the rest if you want. Good job!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:23, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll have a go soon! ⇒TAP 16:33, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, seems a lot like Essex to me.. ⇒TAP 19:17, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Small town please or village for rural communes, they are almost always large villages or small towns.. Some may even be smallish village so to strictly call them "town" is a little exaggerrated.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:01, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

WP:CANVASS applies to you
[edit]Thank you to everyone for your advice, I have read it all and I will make sure to follow it. ⇒TAP 20:06, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
|
---|
TAP, while I understand that you felt attacked by Bwilkins, the email you sent to me and six other people asking us to "help" against him earlier today was absolutely unacceptable. WP:CANVASS directly prohibits "stealth canvassing" via email, canvassing in which you ask for a particular action (i.e. wanting us to "help" you"), and canvassing an inordinate number of people who aren't involved with the dispute your message is about. Your email, asking us to "help" you in the conversation on Bwilkins's talk page was very much against our rules, and I'm extremely disappointed to see that (if my time-zone calculations are correct) in the time since your canvassing, at least one and possibly more of those people have joined in the discussion to support you with no mention of having been canvassed. Your behavior here was unacceptable. If you have an issue with the way someone is treating you or your Editor Review on Wikipedia, you have WP:WQA available to you. If it's more serious than that, you have WP:ANI or even WP:RfC/U available to you. What you do NOT have available to you is the right to email six or seven people you think might support you, and tell them to go help you win a dispute with some who says your behavior isn't perfect. Because guess what? It's not. As a case in point, people have been blocked before for what you did this morning. I'm not going to block you right now, because I'm assuming that you somehow managed to miss learning about WP:CANVASS in completing your multiple adoption courses with multiple people. What I expect you to do now, to demonstrate that you understand what you did wrong and will know to avoid it in the future, is this: I expect you to update that thread on Bwilkins's talk to indicate which of the users supporting you there are there because you requested them to help you via email, whether it was the email I received or another. I expect that, if you feel Bwilkins's behavior toward you is an issue, you will open a request at WP:WQA. I expect to never receive or hear about anyone else receiving a canvassing email from you again, because if I do, I will block you without hesitation, as this incident is just the culmination of the many ways in which you don't seem to "get" how we work here. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 17:01, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
I think its unnecessary to spend so much time discussing it. Thine has an "editor review" which I told him a week or two ago I think it pretty pointless and its better to learn the ropes as you go along. BWilks had every right to comment there, even if he was a little harsh and Thine should have know he'd be open to criticism. The most concerning things about TAP from my perspective is the fact he is very easily side tracked and pursues certain things too excessively. And he doesn't seem to realise that by continously emailing people asking for support he's more likely to turn people against him. TAP you show a lot of potential as an editor but I wish you'd just drop certain things and try to focus solely on improving wikipedia.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:10, 17 June 2012 (UTC) |

Answer
[edit]The common practice seems to be to not capitalize ordinary nouns in infobox templates; whether it be village, city, bowler, wicketkeeper, etc, but there are numerous counter-examples. Since "village" is not a title per se, but a rough translation of the Iranian equivalent, it seems to be an ordinary noun and hence not capitalized. There seems no exception in Wikipedia:MOS_(capitalization). Carlossuarez46 (talk) 20:38, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Actually I would have to disagree with that Carlos. I think it looks strange not to capitalize and looks odd in lower casing. I've started a few ten thousand place articles with capital letters see Mali, Algeria etc. As far as I know its only you and the editor changing the Indian infoboxes using lower casing.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:14, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hi TAP, I left a few more comments on the painting. Meeting the "brilliant prose" standards is very difficult, and usually requires help from several experienced writers. I suggested someone you could ask for advice on the review. I hope you're not discouraged if this nomination is unsuccessful, it usually takes a while to get the hang of FAC. The best advice I can give you is to get help from copyeditors and peer reviewers as much as you can. Regards, Mark Arsten (talk) 16:18, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

De nada! A tip though. Google the hotel and wikimapia and retrieve the coordinates to go in the infobox and add the locator map. Also avoid things like "within walking distance ". That comes across as an advert/tousrist guide. Just state exactly where the hotel is, e.g The hotel is located on xxx avenue, roughly 200 metres northwest of the White House. And to do that. just look on google maps once you retrieve the coordinates. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:56, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Reassessing Justin Bieber on Twitter?
[edit]This article is nominated as AFD. I wonder if you can have this article reassessed for its qualifications as a good article. --George Ho (talk) 17:55, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'll have a think after AfD then the FAC closes; not yet. ⇒TAP 18:27, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's not clear to me how an AfD nomination requires a GA review. If the article is kept at AfD, then clearly the AfD nomination did not indicate an insuperable problem with the article. If the article is deleted at AfD, then a GA review is not required anyway.
- Incidentally, the article has now been copy-edited extensively as part of the FAC process, so even if it was teetering on GA failure for prose before, it should be in much better shape now. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 18:36, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

I was just reading over this and I am particularly concerned that you passed this with some glaring problems in its prose, contrary to the guideline. Do you do a lot of GA reviewing? It certainly shouldn't have been passed in the condition it was in (it's got slightly worse since) and is a no-hoper at the FA. I am not sure how best to proceed now; I suppose to some degree I am looking for your input about whether this was a one-off glitch in the process or a deeper problem. What do you think? --John (talk) 21:36, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi John! I'm mentoring Thine Antique Pen (at his request, not due to any externally enforced requirement), so I'll comment briefly on this as he may already be asleep (as I should be, quite soon).
- He hasn't yet done a lot of GA reviewing, in fact I believe he has done about as many reviews as he has GAs (six of the latter at present, I think). He may have been unlucky in stumbling into a super-controversial topic to review (with a moderately controversial author, I hope Laura doesn't mind me saying so!) while still finding his feet.
- What I did emphasise to him was that he should be thorough in the review, rather than a quick "yes/no/maybe" tick-box over-positive exercise. (I imagine you've seen the sort of thing I mean.) When I very briefly skimmed over the review, it was obvious that he had taken that advice to heart, and had spent some hours writing out what he thought needed doing to bring the article up to GA standard.
- Because I had an inkling that controversy might be in the stars, I also suggested that he ask a more seasoned GA reviewer (which I am not!) to look over his review in more detail. I believe he asked Dr Blofeld, who has 40 FAs to his name, countless GAs, and a cat with heterochromia iridum, to do this. From my understanding, Blofeld was ok with the review.
- I've just now quickly looked at the FAC comments so far, and I agree the examples of bad prose given are really quite serious ones. On the other hand, some are fixed (apparently) with comments like "added a comma". I have a problem here - I've copyedited a dozen long articles to GA standard, but I don't know how bad the prose has to be to fail a GA. I'm quite serious, here; I've seen some copyedits "for GA" that have left the resulting articles with sentence fragments and run-on sentences and god knows what else, and no negative feedback ever appeared, and the article made GA.
- Moving back to your original question, I don't think it can be claimed that TAP's GA review was just one that he had paid less attention to or slipped up on - on the contrary, it was one that he spent a lot of time on and was proud of. On the other hand, a lot of GA reviews are similar, in my experience - there is a huge gulf between GA prose requirements and FA prose requirements. This article was presumably at the lower end of the GA acceptable scale, and a million miles off the FA acceptable scale.
- The FAC looks almost certain to fail now anyway, so that's that problem out of the way. I don't see why the article itself couldn't be re-listed at the GOCE Requests page to sort out the remaining issues for prose-at-GA standard.
- I will have limited internet access until Tuesday evening. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:23, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
I didn't comment on the review I don't think. In fact I long said it contains unnecessary bloat and would best be merged.. Some prose issues aside, I don't think you can blame TAP too much as his review was fair. Perhaps he should have requested a second opinion. But I'm shocked it has been nominated for an FA,♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:50, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- I actually believe that FAC was a disaster idea and peer review would've been best, many times, before it gets nominated. ⇒TAP 18:26, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- I am disappointed you didn't respond more positively to my feedback. To me the article fails on criteria 1a, 1b, 3b (at least). I see it is currently undergoing a community reassessment and an AfD discussion. It would be great if you could acknowledge you misread this one. --John (talk) 10:01, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- He said below - before you posted this - that he would consider doing a GAR on it if it survives AfD. I'm not quite understanding what you're looking for here. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 15:14, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

GAs
[edit]Hi.
Your userpage says you have significantly contributed to six GAs. The tooltips of the little icons at the top say you wrote Romanian Volunteer Corps in Russia, Seara (newspaper), and Ioan C. Filitti. In reality, you made three, two, and four edits to these articles, respectively. And not significant edits, mind you. These articles were written mostly by Dahn (talk · contribs).
It's really not a good idea to misrepresent your contributions to articles. It's dishonest; it makes you look bad; it's an insult to Dahn. If you want more silly icons, just write more GAs. As in, not just changing a word or two.
I'm sure you understand and will remove these claims, apologize to Dahn, etc., etc.

German translation
[edit]Thine Antique Pen: I see you are still working on Old City Hall (Berlin), and I'm afraid I am still concerned by the high level of inaccuracy in your latest additions. To give two examples, sanierung is not sanitation, but renovation or repair; and in talking about the replacement statue of Fortuna, you have left out entirely that it's a replacement statue and in fact just left an incomplete weight conversion template sitting there. From the parts of the article that I have cleaned up so far, it is apparent that you are not careful enough in clicking on the links in the German article and seeing where they go and whether there is an interwiki to en.wikipedia; you should not have confused the Social Association of Germany with the National-Social Association, for example. (I undid that confusion by making the former into a stub.) I wonder how much knowledge of German you actually have? If you have not studied it, please could I ask you to stop working on this article and not translate any further articles from German until you have studied it? If you have studied it, please, slow down, follow the links more carefully, and look at the overall meaning of the sentence and the group of sentences. It is better to produce a shorter article containing only the essential information that you fully understand (and can support with references) and leave others to expand it in the future than to guess at the meaning and risk getting it wrong, especially if you don't preview for things like that broken conversion template describing nothing. I'm not talking about a tiny stub or even an article that barely meets the 1,500-character minimum length for Did You Know; what you have now is a fairly long article, much of which requires quite a lot of overhauling. An article half that length would be adequate. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:30, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, sure. I shall slow down. I must say, Old City Hall (Berlin) is a rewrite using my quite poor wording of topics. ⇒TAP 20:33, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

- "Do not rewrite it in your own words" is not really very good advice. Re-writing the article in the editor's own words is indeed exactly what must be done in order for there to be a valid article. You are correct that sources are required, but ten to fifteen is far more than is normally necessary, if they are independent reliable sources and they each contain significant coverage of the band itself. Da Gryptions is an example of a band that are just borderline notable enough for Wikipedia; their article has less than ten separate independent reliable sources. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 16:44, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I was going to say what Demiurge said. You need to rewrite it so it's not a copyvio anymore. Also, a handful of proper reliable sources should be enough. Keilana|Parlez ici 16:49, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

[edit]When I received the invitation of Dr. Blofeld to look at the translation of Agneta Matthes I did not know that he was not responsible for the article and that it was nominated for DYK. As you may have seen, I looked at it from time. I just finished copy-editing. Sigh. Comments: 1) This article should not have been in Main space like this, there is User space to start an article and get it to a state that can be published, most hilarious find was "Agneta Matthes found out that her husband had a child in 1871, who at the time was 15-year-old Mary of Rotterdam Eringaard." for Agneta Matthes found out that her husband had begun in 1871 a relationship with Mary Eringaard, then aged 15, with whom he had four children." 2) I translated more and more freely, please check if it's still correct. 3) For DYK, you will have to source more. 4) I think the DYK hook is too moderate for her achievements, and should have a picture. 4) I started Matthes, overdue. 5) I will include myself as contributor in the nomination. 6) I really had no time for this ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:54, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, TAP. Please do not revert an edit on my talk page again, specially if it is my edit. :) Cheers, Riley Huntley talk No talkback needed; I'll temporarily watch here. 08:50, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm. You re-added a load of vandal warning templates which were false and not your edits. These came from the IPs talk page. I see no reason to keep them. ⇒TAP 08:51, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

I am aware of where the warnings came from and what the IP was doing so there was no need for you to revert my edit on my own talk page. I wanted them there as they were linked as evidence for misuse of warnings (easier for admins to see instead of searching my talkpage history). Even if there was no reason to keep them, the owner of a talk page can archive the warnings themselves. RfA Standards
[edit]I saw here that you require 50 articles, 45 if one GA, 40 if one FA. Asides from the fact that the majority of the current admin corps would not meet this, does that still apply for candidates with more than one FA or GA (for example, you would support if someone had 4 GAs, 2 FAs and 12 other articles)? Also, do they have to have created the GA/FA themselves, or does it also count if they've improved another article to GA/FA status?--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 18:15, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Altes Stadthaus, Berlin
[edit]On 18 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Altes Stadthaus, Berlin, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that a 400 kg (880 lb) statue of the Berlin bear was removed from the city administrative building Altes Stadthaus (pictured) and given to the East Berlin zoo in 1959? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. [edit]Hey all!
So, big news this week - on Tuesday, we ramped up to 5 percent of articles :). There's been a lot more feedback (pardon the pun) as I'm sure you've noticed, and to try and help we've scheduled a large number of office hours sessions, including one this evening at 22:00 UTC in the #wikimedia-office connect channel, and another at 01:00 UTC for the aussies amongst us :). I hope to see some of you there - if any of you can't make it but have any questions, I'm always happy to help.

[edit]Hi. The infobox for Four Seasons Hotel, Washington, D.C. says that they are the owner. Are you sure this is true? Village Pump proposals: discussion on speedying machine translations
[edit]Letting you know that after fixing Ackerstraße I revisited the discussion there and used both Altes Stadthaus, Berlin and Ackerstraße as examples, since you and Dr Blofeld had both used the former as a good example. I am afraid you show little awareness of how poor your translations are when you mainspace them, and although there have been some splendid examples of teamwork cleaning them up - and those of another editor I have in mind, it's time to face the fact that those editors could and probably would have been doing other worthwhile things with the time. Especially if the articles get rapidly nominated for DYK so that there is time pressure to clean them up. I would a lot rather see you work on articles like the Cézanne painting, where the sources are in English and I'm pretty sure you have access to them? But perhaps you read Russian well and just need to be more careful checking for existing Wikipedia articles (and common redlinks) to link to? Unfortunately, you aren't alone in not translating carefully or with enough awareness of what is required to do it well. I would not have mentioned your name, but since you brought up your work ... I have to say I disagree with the way you presented it at that discussion. Yngvadottir (talk) 23:03, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- TAP, you need to work harder at this, and I don't just mean working more slowly or keeping articles in your userspace for longer. (You should also do both of those). Yngvadottir has been generous in his comments on your articles, but really you need to stop nominating articles for DYK unless a third party (e.g. Yngvadottir) has already reviewed them and confirmed that the translation problems are within acceptable bounds. Do you understand this? Do you agree?
- You really need to slow down, a lot. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:14, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. ⇒TAP 10:18, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Adrienne Thomas (writer) could have done with waiting. It's in mainspace with no footnotes (and German abbrevs. and explanations in the References section) and no indication of why her writing is important. Instead her marriage is foregrounded. This source listed in the de.wikipedia article indicates she was a Jewish writer with an important career both before and after emigration to escape the Nazis - and a thrilling escape story. It also shows that she was married twice (she began writing only after the death of her first husband) and gives the date of her second marriage as 1941; the fr.wikipedia article in this instance is better, and agrees. Her maiden name and the highlights of her life and career should be in our article; why create an article on somebody without telling their story? I also consider it part of covering an author on en.wikipedia to hunt down full publication info on their works in OCLC; English-language scholarship traditionally gives the publisher as well as the location and year, and en.wikipedia wants ISBNs or OCLC numbers so readers can look them up. Why did you take this live immediately? What's the rush? Yngvadottir (talk) 15:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm working on it. Also the fact that I won't be having internet for a while shortly. ⇒TAP 15:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Then it would seem a good candidate to stay in userspace until you think you've got a good picture of what is important about her career; or in view of the internet access thing, I'd have drafted this one offline on a word processor. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:21, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Why?
[edit]Why are you going through people's userspace and nominating redlinked redirects there for speedy deletion? Surely people can figure out for themselves if they want their sandboxes deleted? LadyofShalott 15:17, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Got to agree with LadyofShalott here, this isn't a good idea. Those redirects show where the page has ended up (by looking at the "A page with this title has previously been deleted." box) and so they are useful. They're in another editors user space and aren't doing harm, so I really don't think they fit "speedy" deletion. WormTT(talk) 15:24, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, OK. I was going through Special:BrokenRedirects and noticed that many other sandboxes had been deleted there for being broken redirects. ⇒TAP 15:41, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 July newsletter
[edit]We're approaching the beginning of 2012's final round. Pool A sees Cwmhiraeth (submissions) as the leader, with 300 points being awarded for the featured article Bivalvia, and Pool B sees Grapple X (submissions) in the lead, with 10 good articles, and over 35 articles eligible for good topic points. Pool A sees Muboshgu (submissions) in second place with a number of articles relating to baseball, while Pool B's Ruby2010 (submissions) follows Grapple X, with a variety of contributions including the high-scoring, high-importance featured article on the 2010 film Pride & Prejudice. Ruby2010, like Grapple X, also claimed a number of good topic points; despite this, not a single point has been claimed for featured topics in the contest so far. The same is true for featured portals.
Currently, the eighth-place competitor (and so the lowest scorer who would reach the final round right now) has scored 332, more than double the 150 needed to reach the final round last year. In 2010, however, 430 was the lowest qualifying score. In this competition, we have generally seen scores closer to those in 2010 than those in 2011. Let's see what kind of benchmark we can set for future competitions! As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! - You have added the {{rename media}} template to 7 files. 6 of the 7 files were moved. :) -- Cheers, Riley Huntley talk No talkback needed; I'll temporarily watch here. 19:40, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Just a quick q...when do you think I will be ready to apply because I have like 14 or something now. ObtundTalk 02:03, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Give it atleast a month. I understand that that is a long time but they want to see experience and pateince. -- Cheers, Riley Huntley talk No talkback needed; I'll temporarily watch here. 15:47, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

New Pages newsletter
[edit]Hey all :)
A couple of new things.
First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.
On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right.
It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 00:09, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Köllnischer Park
[edit]On 11 August 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Köllnischer Park, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Köllnischer Park in Berlin houses bears (one pictured), known as the city mascots? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Köllnischer Park. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Update on user-rights topic ban
[edit]Hi Thine Antique Pen. Since you seem to have found it, I thought I would confirm what's going on - by my understanding. After thoroughly reviewing your behaviour over the past few months, I had this conversation with Mbisanz and Fluffernutter. It was agreed that the topic ban that you are currently under is not fit for purpose, in those situations where you actually require a user-right, it is requested by proxy - causing even more problems than you requesting the rights yourself.
As the topic ban was not community imposed, but rather an unblocking agreement, you can consider it changed. You are now allowed to request user rights yourself, however you should discuss the matter with me first. If I endorse the user right request, you may request it in the usual manner. NB, I will not be giving you any user rights, nor my endorsement guarantee your acceptance - it will only allow you to make the request, subject to the standard community scrutiny. - OK, thanks! Thine Antique Pen (public) 11:59, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

You had missed this so thought of delivering it to you. Also, do you have a Facebook account? You can connect with WP IPL anytime at this page. Thanks! @Dipankan (Have a chat?) 11:24, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hehe, thanks! Yeah, I've got a Facebook account, but I prefer to keep my real name private. Thine Antique Pen 11:26, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
KXIP cricketers
[edit]While working on such list, try to be more cricketing, i.e., players list has not much to do with season wise performance, stadiums, owner, etc. Instead, try to add personal record, like most runs, most centuries, most wickets, best bowling average, most catches, just what have been done at List of Delhi Daredevils cricketers. Also do add the paragraph about the tables (refer to the lat para of the DD list), and some notes to make the list more clear. If you need any help, just ask me and I will decorate your list from head to toe. :) ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 17:13, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Done. Could you decorate? Thine Antique Pen 10:16, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
My RfA
[edit]Thank you for participating in my RfA. I appreciate that you had taken the time to look over my nomination and gave me serious consideration as a prospective administrator. I've noticed your activity around RfA in general recently, and I think it's great that you're involved in such an important process for the functioning of this site. Keep it up, we need more admins, and certainly more people involved in getting qualified users through RfA. =) Kurtis (talk) 17:14, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Fuad al Muqtadir
[edit]Hi TAP, this is just to let you know that I deleted Fuad al Muqtadir, but per CSD G4, not CSD G12. The WikiBin page that you linked to was just a repository of the old Wikipedia article that was deleted (via Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fuad al Muqtadir), and so wasn't a copyright violation. Thanks — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 19:06, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Aha, thanks! I'd actually only just saw the AfD template on the talk page before you deleted it! Thine Antique Pen 19:07, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
DYK
[edit]After I am done my exam today, I will look it over. If someone else takes it over, they can. I dont have any issue with it :D Khyati Gupta (talk) 09:37, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- I added suggestions, please see. Thank you. Khyati Gupta (talk) 22:08, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Are you following WP:WIADYK, or your own criteria? I don't see anything there about copyedits, and I've never came across something the scale of your request to me. I've came across copyediting suggestions before, but these only required about a couple of words changing. If you could write more than just "reword it", I would try my best. Thanks! Thine Antique Pen 22:15, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Problems solved
[edit]Instead of notifying in your alternative user talk page I preferred to come here. I would like to thank you for pointing out the problems with Nawabs of Bengal and Murshidabad and at the same would like to notify you that the problems you mentioned here have been solved. Waiting eagerly for a reply! --Tamravidhir(২০১২) 14:34, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
If replying then please reply at my talk page. Thank you!
- Please do not stop reviewing Nawabs of Bengal and Murshidabad. Is it a GA or not? Please reply at my talk page or address here Tamravidhir(২০১২) 10:30, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- If you are on a holiday or if you are taking a Wikibreak then please tell me whether it will become a GA or not, if so then when? Tamravidhir(২০১২) 10:36, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- Passed. Thine Antique Pen 11:20, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
