Article name
[edit]Now that New Jersey also has licensed cideries and meaderies, the name of this article is somewhat inaccurate. Does anyone have any suggestions? "List of alcoholic beverage producers in New Jersey" is inclusive, but clunky.

- I suggest renaming the article to "List of breweries in New Jersey". The article would then be changed so that the breweries are listed before the wineries instead of after them, but no content would be removed. That is, the article would still have separate sections for breweries, wineries, distilleries, cideries, and meaderies, or whatever is appropriate. I'm suggesting this because almost all the other U.S. states have articles called "List of breweries in X", but in my view it's okay, or even preferable, to include producers of other alcoholic beverages in the same articles. — Mudwater (Talk) 10:40, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
- On the other hand, the article title could be left the way it is, with producers of cider and mead getting their own separate sections. Maybe that would be even better. Most of the "List of breweries in X" articles only include breweries, unlike this article. — Mudwater (Talk) 11:03, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
- I definitely want to split cider and mead into their own sections, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
- As far as ordering the sections and naming the article, it looks like wineries were placed first because this list began as a winery list (although it was quickly expanded to include breweries and the only distillery at the time). Since then, the beer people have definitely been more thorough in creating lists. I don't particularly care which section comes first, but some people might. It might be fairest to go alphabetically. The name is more of a concern for me.
- I don't particularly like the idea of naming it "List of breweries in New Jersey" if it has wine, spirits, cider, and mead as well. The title of the article should accurately describe the contents. Looking at the various lists, most states have separate lists for each type of alcohol, and if the title of this article just says "List of breweries", it won't be obvious that this is a broader list. The few states that do have combined lists have titles similar to the current title. None of them appear to have five distinct categories, which is why I'm fishing for alternatives for this list, so the title doesn't become either non-descriptive or awkwardly long.
- Whatever the consensus we end up with here, this article is stronger than most of the lists in any of the list categories (breweries, distilleries, wineries), so hopefully we'll be setting a good example to emulate.
