Reboot
[edit]Kudos for your honour and integrity in volunteering for re-confirmation.
Having started wondering about your account name at the RfA, I looked for a good illustration for the article about the proverb as it needed a suitable lead image. I found this picture in a book of satirical nursery rhymes published in 1883. The worm does not triumph in this but you may still find it amusing.

- That's a new one on me @Andrew Davidson - and I'm not sure if I agree with the moral, for you do need to fight against the wrongs of the world - but perhaps choosing one's battles might help them prevail! WormTT(talk) 13:52, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Welcome back! I uploaded pics (see places), on a mountain in the sun above the fog. - Madeleine Riffaud - remember. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:44, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you @Gerda Arendt I'm always surprised how similar the countryside of Germany can be to the countryside of the UK, it is a lovely picture. WormTT(talk) 13:48, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for standing for arbitrator. I am far away from it all (travel, mourning), not in the mood, so just an informal question you can answer or ignore:
- Liviu Holender chose lieder by five composers whose music was banned by the Nazis—Schreker, Zemlinsky, Mahler, Korngold and Schönberg—for a recital at the Oper Frankfurt.
What does this 2024 DYK tell you about infoboxes for classical composers in 2024? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:17, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
Your run for admin is the feel-good story Wikipedia needed to see this week
[edit]Thanks for choosing this moment. I'm personally grateful qualified former admins are stepping back in take on larger responsibilities. Glad to have trustworthy (and seasoned) teammates everywhere on Wikimedia, especially on the committee. BusterD (talk) 13:10, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's very kind of you to say @BusterD. The world is a tough place at the moment, and perhaps recent events have exacerbated that - but there is always another dawn, and so we should presever through the night.

Dark mode design tokens
[edit]Your black signature is invisible in dark mode as someone pointed out in the RfA. FYI, Schwede66 had a similar issue and used design tokens to resolve it. Please see In the dark for details. Andrew🐉(talk) 09:57, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I take it my attempt to use shadows hasn't really done the job then. I've switched to about the simplest version of design tokens that I can, to keep the sig length short. How's it look now? WormTT(talk) 10:11, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's much better in dark mode, with the "Worm" appearing as bold, italic white on black. The word "talk" is green on black which is not so legible though.
- BTW, note that there's a worm emoji now. Let's see what that looks like: 🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱
- Andrew🐉(talk) 16:51, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I'm too oldschool - I don't like the idea of images (even emojis) in sigs at all! WormTT(talk) 11:44, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
I want to become admin
[edit]I want to protect my content so please give me adminship Officialhistory601 (talk) 18:28, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- You will want to read through Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship. Primefac (talk) 11:33, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Officialhistory601. I could also refer you to my magic formula to becoming an admin if you really wanted - but I think we need to take a step back. Wikipedia doesn't work by "owning" content, it's freely licences to be modified, deleted or expanded depending on the consensus of the community. You already have more rights on this site than you do on practically any other website in the world - so focus on producing the best content you can and worry about adminship long in the future. WormTT(talk) 11:43, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
Welcome back, and thank you.
[edit]Hello Dave, You probably don't remember me or who I am, so to quickly summarize: I got blocked 4 years ago, and emailed you asking for advice. Your advice was good, but I only took it 3 years later, when I started contributing to Wikimedia commons. Around this time, you started your wikibreak. I continued to edit on commons became a licence reviewer, and got unblocked on en-wiki a few months ago. I just wanted to say thanks for giving me that advice. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 18:30, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Alachuckthebuck. I'm glad to hear it worked out for you - and good luck in your future editing. WormTT(talk) 11:40, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
RFA closed
[edit]I have closed the RFA, welcome back to the corps (and good luck in ACE!). Primefac (talk) 11:34, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks @Primefac - no backing out now! WormTT(talk) 11:37, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you! WormTT(talk) 15:24, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- OH, nice,.... so it DID succeed. Glad you got the bit back.
- Hopefully it won't be another eight or so years before my next message on your talk page.
- You know...although I know of a ton of other Wikipedians and consider them to be "famous" to me, you're the only one I have yet to ever talk to.
- Congrats again!

Remember me?
[edit]I'm still around, heh. I rarely long in, though. I mainly just read wikipedia....hours a day... ..but I think the last time I logged in, well, was around the time I created this account. I'll never forget, though, I left a comment on your talk page back then too (around 2017) where I was like "hey, I know you... well I don't know know you, but I've read a lot about you for a long time and always considered you one of the best Wikipedians around, etc, etc". Yeah, I basically just gushed for a paragraph or two. You replied back, though! On your page, not mine, so it may be hard to find if you need to "reboot" your memory into our interaction/who I am.....but yeah. I think I recently just saw a RFA going on for you? I was tempted to log in and vote my support, but...well, how much weight would my vote hold? Having nothing but namespace edits my entire time here? ACTUALLY, I DO do a lot of minor edits (WikiGnome-style), but I do pretty much 100 of them as an UNSIGNED IN USER. :p So.. I'm resorted to an IP number for most of them, ya know...aka, anonymous. Oh well, I don't need credit for my minor clean up bits. I think virtually all of my edits in my 14 years of being here (I had an account before this one too, name of IDLE THOUGHTS, made about 2004,..that I forgot the password to)... I've ONLY ever made edits in which I "clicked" the "this is a minor edit" box, haha......bold I am not, trust me. :p
Anyways, hope you have been good, hope ya remember me, and hope you keep on keeping on a good life!
