Subject: Clarification and Request for Further Guidance on Sources

[edit]

Dear Theroadislong,

Thank you for your feedback on the draft article for Spaceflight Simulator. I understand the importance of meeting Wikipedia's notability guidelines, particularly the need for reliable, in-depth, and independent sources.

Currently, much of the coverage surrounding Spaceflight Simulator is within niche communities, smaller tech sites, and forums like NASASpaceflight and some YouTube reviews. These sources do provide insights into the game's development, mechanics, and user reception, but I realize they may not meet the depth required. Unfortunately, major independent gaming outlets have not provided substantial articles on the game at this stage.

I would appreciate any specific guidance you could offer on how to proceed. Are there ways to strengthen the draft by utilizing these niche sources more effectively, or would you recommend waiting for more significant coverage in the future? Any suggestions on how to improve the submission to align with Wikipedia's standards would be invaluable.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Infoadder95 Infoadder95 (talk) 11:15, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reference User:Infoadder95/sandbox you say that you understand "the need for reliable, in-depth, and independent sources" but your draft has none, forums and YouTube videos are not appropriate, you will need significant coverage in reliable, [[WP:IS|independent secondary sources. Theroadislong (talk) 11:41, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Reviewer,
I fully understand the importance of ensuring articles on Wikipedia are both reliable and verifiable. Unfortunately, the topic of Spaceflight Simulator lacks substantial coverage outside of forums, developer-published sources, and a few smaller review websites. However, it is important to note that Spaceflight Simulator has gained a significant following, with over 20 million players. It also draws attention from fans of related games such as Kerbal Space Program and Juno New Origins, which are similarly niche but highly popular in their communities.
I am reaching out again in the hope that this time, you can take my full message into consideration. I realize that current sources may not fully meet the typical standards, but I believe the game’s widespread popularity and influence within the simulation gaming community provide a strong case for inclusion.
Could you kindly provide further guidance on how best to move forward with this draft? Any assistance in refining it to better meet Wikipedia’s standards would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise this article would have to be rejected du to lack of coverage.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,

having "a significant following, with over 20 million players" is NOT a part of the the notability criteria. "widespread popularity and influence within the simulation gaming community" is NOT a part of the the notability criteria. You are correct that the draft will be rejected due to lack of coverage. I'm sorry I can't help with that. Theroadislong (talk) 12:37, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
I wanted to clarify that I do not use an LLM (Large Language Model) for generating my responses. However, after five years of working closely with them, my style has naturally adapted to the patterns commonly seen in such models. Also, as English is not my native language, I occasionally rely on them to refine my grammar and comprehension.
This particular response, however, was not generated by an LLM. I am also very addicted to highlight my main points by making them bold.

Lists of House of Lords cases

[edit]

I have written

to match

I would like to make List of House of Lords cases a directory of links to these pages.

I have matched the existing structure of the 3 existing pages, but the drafts were rejected for not having secondary sources.

But this hasn't happened for the three existing pages. This also does not seem to apply to List of acts of the Scottish Parliament from 2024, List of acts of Senedd Cymru from 2024, List of acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 2024, List of acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 2024, 2024 judgments of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom so I am confused why it is being applied to these pages. I was under the impression that law-related lists did not have the same requirements and apex court cases are inherently notable. SqrtLog (talk) 16:35, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok feel free tore-submit and I will leave it for another reviewer I may well be wrong. Theroadislong (talk) 16:57, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I made an edit to Dan Barouch, which through my incompetence was not to the latest version. I realised I'd done this and tried to revert it, but failed because of your subsequent edit. Rather than muddy the waters further, I thought I'd mention this to you and hope you can put it right - particularly the way he is named in the first line of the article. Disruptive editing, continuing to add unsourced content, unexplained removal of maintenance tags, repeated addition of unsourced content

[edit]

Hi Theroadislong, Found that there were 2 IP address ranges 2001:1388:A44:0:0:0:0:0 and 2001:1388:A45:0:0:0:0:0 All edits from the IP address found to be the same person. Harassing and deleting content in other articles which had administrators warn and rollback more than 20 disruptive edits Found the latest edit, redo it. Repeatedly adding unsourced content and deleting maintenance tags by correcting them and not explained in the article Nine (singer) in terms of being a fan club Due to adding content to live broadcast activities to sell products Duplicate content is added which is not important. As with most of the content in this article

2001:1388:A44:5700:28FE:5648:2A79:8595 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2001:1388:A44:5700:28FE:5648:2A79:8595 2001:1388:A44:EDDB:98F3:C8BE:82C6:175D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2001:1388:A44:EDDB:98F3:C8BE:82C6:175D 2001:1388:A44:23CC:DCF2:FD41:F2BA:FCE3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2001:1388:A44:23CC:DCF2:FD41:F2BA:FCE3

Edit history Nine (singer) has only one person, IP addresses starting with 2001:1388:A45 and 2001:1388:A44 all are the same person The edits will be made in the same way, namely adding information to the article without the source in Nine (singer) and deleting and disturbing other articles. which always has admin rollback This person made repeated changes with new IP addresses like this.

The entire article was edited by the same person, unexplained removal of maintenance tags, and recently used a new IP address to add a lot of unsourced content.

Administrators address disruptive IP address user behavior issues. Continuously adding unsourced content to Nine (singer) A single person from Lima, Peru, used the IP address to reverse an update notification. Unexplained deletion of maintenance tags Modifications were not performed according to the maintenance tag instructions. Please disturb other articles as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2001:1388:A45:7B00:358F:FBE6:A148:46A0

repeated addition of unsourced content I think examining a person is difficult. This person from Lima, Peru uses a different IP address every time they resolve. Every time delete and add information to another article. will be reversed Then edit again with the new IP address.

This person created information in the Nine (singer) article and also caused mischief in other articles. Add information without references Administrators always roll back edits that this person deleted on other articles. Editing that disturbs another article and edited and added information only to the article Nine (singer) The person using all IP addresses in this Nine (singer) article is the same person who removed the maintenance tag without editing it.

The person using all the IP addresses I attached is the same person. I'm only giving examples because there are many. The entire article Nine (singer) has an IP address from the same person from Lima, Peru, but the IP address in the update is different every time the information is added. This person deleted the maintenance tag notice. Delete without correcting Most articles lack references. As I looked at the article's history, Nine (singer) has been doing this for a long time, but no user has come to check on this person.

What else do I need to do? The subject has obituaries published in The Times and The Independent and has an entry in UK Who's Who. All of the newspaper articles I have cited are exclusively about the subject, they are not just passing mentions. I've already been advised that he would have no problem with the notoriety criteria. Draft talk:John James (businessman and philanthropist)

[edit]

I have referred on my userpage to the possible conflict of interest, on the suggestion of an admin in the teahouse. I am preparing material for donation to Bristol Archives who are interested in taking it as John James was a very well known figure in Bristol.

On your suggestion I have removed the Who's Who reference, but stand by the two obituaries in The Times and The Independent which are both full page articles which surely imply a certain level of notability. Also all the other newspaper articles I have cited are about the man and his work and are definitely not just 'passing mentions'.

What else do you think I should do? All suggestions gratefully received. Jjarchivist (talk) 11:26, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Further guidance on Draft:Alcohol and society

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review the above draft. If possible, I'd like to ask for more details. Given that the body is almost completely part of a proposed split from Alcohol (drug), I'm trying to figure out which parts read like an essay. My guess is the lede, and that it has to do with phrases such as "closely intertwined", "Modern society continues to grapple with these challenges" and the like, but I figured it'd be easiest to just ask you instead of guessing. Can you give me any specifics I can work on? I'd be very grateful for any assistance. Thanks! EducatedRedneck (talk) 11:07, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Clara Miller Entry

[edit]

The subject of the article is a major figure in philanthropy.

You told me that her awards weren't "notable" -- she won the Prince's Prize for Philanthropy, which is a huge award in the field. I included a reference to it and included reference to the Crown Prince of Monaco who awarded it to her.

I am so confused how editors who don't know anything about philanthropy are then tasked with deciding what constitutes "notability" within the field.

If you could provide me with concrete suggestions, I would be happy to include them. I don't profess to be a professional Wikipedia drafter, but I do find myself confounded by this very arbitrary seeming process. Adamewhite (talk) 18:17, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You say that the Prince's Prize for Philanthropy is a "huge award", but it has no Wikipedia article, and references need to be independent of the subject. See WP:GNG for Wikpedia's notability criteria and please note that press releases are not reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 18:23, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The sole measure of the notability of an award is a Wikipedia page? The reference I included is to the foundation that awarded it to provide direct evidence she won it.
However, I've also now included an article from the major business newspaper Crain's New York, which remarks upon her winning the award.
Is that sufficient? Adamewhite (talk) 18:35, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It contributes zero to any notability I'm afraid. Theroadislong (talk) 18:39, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Resubmitting AfC declines

[edit]

Hi, just checking that you know you can resubmit declined AfC drafts yourself, if you think they've been declined improperly? When you run the AFCH script and select "submit", it allows you to resubmit on behalf of the previous submitter, so they'll still get the accept notice. -- asilvering (talk) 16:08, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Asilvering Oh...thanks for that, I'd not noticed that before. Theroadislong (talk) 16:24, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see that you looked at the article I just drafted. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Steinberg_(journalist_and_photographer) I have addressed both the issues of notability and primary sources on the talk page article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:David_Steinberg_(journalist_and_photographer)#Notable_and_Primary_Sources_are_not_a_problem_here_from_the_Article's_drafter Please consider removing both tags.
