Hi Theroadislong - Thank you for reviewing Draft: Hily (app). Can you offer feedback as to which sections in the draft need reworking to meet neutrality guidelines? E-Stylus (talk) 20:28, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Well for a start terms like "Leveraging his experience, Pronin created Hily as a secure platform aimed at improving the way people connect" and "Hily maintains a safe environment through prioritizing user safety and platform security" are over the top promotional. Theroadislong (talk) 21:00, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Noted. I've worked on removing the promotional language. If possible, can you take a look to see if further revision is needed? Thanks. E-Stylus (talk) 22:43, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi Theroadislong - Just following up on your feedback regarding the draft's tone revisions. The content refers to independent, reliable, published sources to meet verifiability guidelines and establish notability. Thanks. E-Stylus (talk) 13:43, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your review, follow up

Dear reviewer,

Thanks for the input/work that you provide to the users of Wikipedia.

I understand that your rejection of the "Scotching" contribution was due to the lack of information that was provided / lack of resources and data on the subject.

I would appreciate if you could guide me further in order to know which elements (lenght, depth, etc) I should take into consideration for my submission to be accepted.

This being a new form of art that i am a fan of, I would like to make sure that it has its own definition and description as it is normally confused with other forms of tape work.

Best regards,

Fernanda — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mariferchis (talkcontribs) 06:41, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

Whizz Recordings declination

Why is Whizz Recordings advertising? It does not sell products, nor does it make money from it's music. I am also not related or associated with the company, but I do know a lot about it due to a long-running friendship with one of the founders, and I am merely setting this up due to the limited amount of information available on the record label. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inconspicuous Stick (talkcontribs) 16:09, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

Inconspicuous Stick It reads like an advert because all it is doing is promoting what they do. Your friendship means you have a conflict of interest. Notability is judged by looking at the depth of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources. Novice editors are commonly advised to cite at least three independent, reliable, secondary sources containing significant coverage. Some degree of regional, statewide, national, or international media coverage is also required. Most businesses are not suitable subjects for an encyclopedia article. Your draft has no reliable sources, YouTube is not a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 16:26, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

Verdis

Why have you rejected my draft for Verdis? It's a new micronation somebody wants to start between Serbia and Croatia, just like Liberland. If Liberland and Sealand can get their own page, then why can't Verdis?

-Bulbasaur777Eevee

Sorry but your draft is unreferenced and not sufficiently notable for an article. We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject and your draft has none. Theroadislong (talk) 09:46, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
I've deleted most of it as copyvio and posted in more detail to their talk page. Doug Weller talk 10:31, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

It IS notable. it's a new country someone wants to start, if all micronations, even the satirical ones can have its own page, then why can't Verdis have? Croatian media talked a lot about it and I took most of information from micronation's official webpage. If the offical micronation's webpage isn't reliable, then what is? --Bulbasaur777Eevee (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Bulbasaur777Eevee In order to demonstrate notability, you need to provide references to articles written about Verdis in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, books, etc. Theroadislong (talk) 17:10, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Harold Red Baker

I added a sources catagory and can't get the link to IMDB right, can you help?John J Morris (talk) 13:46, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

John J Morris IMDb is not a reliable source so there is no point in adding it (it is user generated). In order to demonstrate notability, you need to provide references to articles written about Baker in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, books, websites etc. Theroadislong (talk) 14:14, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Harold Red Baker

I put the hyperlink to the web site azbilliards.com on the sources category where they talk about Harold Baker please let me know if this is acceptable,I will still have to figure how to make the right tag. I also have a National Billiards News from 1968 that has a three page article with pictures that tells about his life story, but I don't think it is on the net anywhere. Also have news paper articles in my photo album from the Los Angeles times and the Van Nuys California News. Can I just mention them on the sources category or do i need to copy and have a link.John J Morris (talk) 17:17, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

John J Morris That's great, sources don't have to be on line, but please read WP:REFB for help with formatting them. Theroadislong (talk) 17:24, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your assistance in improving this proposed entry. I’ve removed all external links in what I consider the article’s body. My question: is anything above the References line considered “body.” If so, I need to remove the article links. I’ve found such links on other pages, but possibly I’ve misunderstood.

Talk page question.

Hi, thank you so much for the comment on my draft article. I already disclosed on my own talk page that I was paid, per Wikipedia's note when you try to publish an article. Do I also have to do it on the individual page I'm publishing? I read this on wikipedia about it "They must do this on their main user page, or on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or in edit summaries." It says first I can do it on my main user page. I hope that works! I hope in the future to edit more pages and I might get paid by others and add it there too, unless you say the actual talk page is mandatory? Thank you again. Tuuzi (talk) 22:53, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

The Psychic reading article

I'm rather new to all of this, but you stated I added a link to this article? This simply is not true, all I did was fix the spelling of Lati to Latin, as that is what the paragraph was trying to say. No such alphabet of Lati exists, only Latin (which is what we are using right now). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.216.51.64 (talk) 23:19, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

Talk Page Warning for Edit Warring RE William Lane Craig Article

Good Evening Theroadislong, I appreciate the warning on my talk page about the recent edits to the William Lane Craig article and I sympathize with why it would appear that I am edit warring. However, I'd like to point out that I am engaged on the talk page and that I am only reverting the edits of another user who has 5 consecutive reverts across two other editors now and who has consistently not engaged on the talk page. The reverts are an attempt to maintain the page as was agreed to on multiple occasions until a consensus is reached on the talk page for further changes. This is not an edit war in the classic sense, but an attempt by an editor to impose a change on a page without discussion. Squatch347 (talk) 23:22, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Bumping this comment. Again, please note before leaving warnings on my page that I am editing inline with the talk page discussion and actively involved in a talk page discussion. Selective warnings to me while ignoring the consistent edits by others to remove content repeatedly agreed to in talk page archives is not productive to resolution. Squatch347 (talk) 15:27, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
There is no consensus on the talk page for the content to be added. Theroadislong (talk) 15:36, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

To add preposition.

Respected sir,

           Yesterday, I browsed about Dr Shamsheer vayalil on wikipedia. There I saw an infobox in that an alma mater column is present. In that name of two medical colleges are given;

1.) Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. 2.) Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai.

Sir, I request you to add preposition "in" between the name of second medical college (described up)and the name of the city where it is located.

Note: This preposition is "not"needed in first medical college name and it's location name.

Thankyou. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.167.2 (talk) 17:39, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

"Mícheál Mór" "City Sue"

Hi

You've rejected "Mícheál Mór angus City Sue" as not relevant enough to merit a wikipedia article. But if you Google "Mícheál Mór" "City Sue" you get over 100 entries and two pages of video uploads. The provenance of this poem has long been unknown, and so to reveal it now is something of interest in Irish oral culture - are you expert in that, may I ask? I would want to expand the page with later versions

Best

Hi Theroadislong how are you?

I am sorry that my addition to the Prince biography broke rules/upset you/violated something. I added the info because it is true. I went to St Louis U School of Med 80-85 (took a year off trying to decide whether I wanted to do Residency at Mayo Clinic vs NY. We met by accident in Minneapolis and developed a strong attachment - I was not in the music world, and he and I became very close friends and confidantes. I will NEVER sell our secret info ... ever, but I just thought that it would be disrespectful to Prince not to acknowledge our deep friendship. I decided to go to NY, he ended up not marrying Ms Melvoin but they remained friends ... at a distance lol. Since she worked with him, as did almost all of his friends/associates ... the working relationships often bring out different personality qualities (as many in V Fair commented) He was intrinsically kind and soft and good. He enjoyed conversation and jokes and non music related stories. He wasnot cold or harsh. Anyways Theroadislong ( and it seems too damn long for me@) respectfully I say I did not IMHO "vandalize" his bio. Please tell me what I did wrong? Thanks! PS I chose NY where I am a physician ... on leave bc I was a 9/11 first responder and have a potpourri of medical issues. Prince and I are (were) the same age - perhaps you are younger and do not feel the "joy" of the joint pain of a life well lived!

@Shelovesbigdogs: Thank you for the delightful details of your friendship, if your relationship was reported on by reliable sources then it could be added, but I'm afraid Wikipedia only reports on what the reliable published sources say, we are not concerned with the truth. All very good wishes to you. Theroadislong (talk) 19:19, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

re Distillerie Neisson

Thanks for the heads up regarding your rejection of my draft article on Distillerie Neisson. This is my second try with this article, and if you have time, I would appreciate any advice on how to revise it to meet standards for submission. I have no ties to the company and am not attempting to advertise — the article seems to me to be in line with articles for similar companies, such as Flor de Caña and Distillerie Dillon. Is it the product listing? The link to the distributor (which I noted in Talk could be deleted if not acceptable)? I'm a new contributor, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks. DebraL55 Wikipedia has no interest in what the articles subject wants to say about herself, only what independent reliable sources have reported.
Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about them. The article should be limited to a summary of what such independent sources have said about them. If there are no sources then we don’t have an article. Your own website, YouTube etc are not suitable. Theroadislong (talk) 06:44, 13 June 2019 (UTC)

Articles for creation: Dubblestandart

Dear Theroadislong,

I understand and respect that Wikipedia needs to keep the highest standards when approving new articles, However, i am disappointed that it still didn't go through. All i want is reasonable information for the English speaking world about the band. A German Wikipedia site already exists. Dubblestandart is a band from Vienna, Austria(which is not really known for very many acts becoming internationally known)who produced a full length album with Grammy winning Lee Perry, Ariup from the Slits and film director David Lynch, toured with them and many more since 3 decades! The website https://www.discogs.com/artist/26293-Dubblestandart?page=1 lists the band with more than 30 international releases. The reference section has a long list of internationally known producers and musicians who worked with them. All this are independent sources and i don't understand what's the issue here. This given the fact that the band is already listed on the German Wikipedia site with far less detailed information.https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubblestandart They are mentioned on David Lynchs Wikipedia entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lynch_discography As well as on Lee Perrys Wikipedia entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_%22Scratch%22_Perry The collaboration of Dubblestandart & Subatomic Sound System and Lee Perry also put New Yorks Subatomic Sound System on the map! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subatomic_Sound_System

Of course most of the mentions belong to the past but it is a pretty unique thing that this band made it that far, given the fact that they always have been working 100% independent and coming from a country that is lesser known for delivering acts in that field.

Please think about and i really would appreciate if u could approve the information i put together and put the article online. A lot of people looking for information concerning this band, will thank you.:)

Many thanks!

Sincerely

Paul — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul Zawilensky (talkcontribs) 16:20, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

Paul Zawilensky You need to address all the concerns in the various comments, Wikipedia articles should contain no external links in the body of the article, ALL the content needs to be sourced please read WP:REFB for help with that and please note that Discogs is not a suitable source. The fact that there is a `German Wikipedia article has no relevance at all, English Wikipedia has higher standards, you need to show how the band passes WP:BAND. Help on Footnotes

Hello!

I am trying to better understand what I need to update on the article. I have been reading the footnotes/citation sections you provided but I feel I am just missing something as I followed this beforehand as well and just cant seem to know what is different from what I put up on the article.

I even went through the Fix ambiguous links · Fix bare URLs · Fix broken links resources. I know you dont have a lot of time, but it would be very helpful to know if all of my citations need to be scratched or was there one specific ones that were bad?

Thank you! Much appreciate it.

Dreizehn_XIII review

I understand and recognize that youtube and blog are not reliable references and that's wikipedia's rules, but as I mentioned in other comment, I also offered many other trustworthy sources, online magazines links and interviews. Moreover, there're thousand of other articles on wikipedia that are violating those terms of wikipedia and that's pretty unfair. There're thousand of underground bands and artists in the wikipedia with poorly done references and youtube links used as proof of relevance.

Hi Theroadislong , I felt the subject in this case did not have enough continuous coverage which a celebrity would have to be eligible for an article and hence declined it. However, I just noticed your comments on the revert and i quote "You are not a draft article reviewer?" . As i'm new with Wikipedia, please advise if i'm not supposed to be reviewing any such past submissions and approving/declining them ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24x7help (talkcontribs) 20:47, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Participants you need a minimum of 500 edits and a Wikipedia account at least 90 days old before you can even apply to be a reviewer. Theroadislong (talk) 20:51, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your prompt reply

Hi, Thanks for your prompt reply. I just saw the guidelines and I think I may have goofed at a place as I approved a submission based on my knowledge of the subject. Can you please assist me with it and revert my changes if they are not as per the wikipedia guidelines ? Thank you again for helping a newbie here ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Vini_Vishwa_Lal — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24x7help (talkcontribs) 21:08, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Saffron Wiehl article declined

Hi Theroadislong,

Thanks for reviewing my article. But I don't agree that this isn't a notable topic. Saffron is an artist that has worked hard and sold a lot of her work in the past years. So is her mother Shireen Mody. They haven't been much on the internet limelight as they literally work as artists every day from morning till evening... I feel it should be written about them as they are 2 strong women that live in India and make a living off of their art. If this is a topic that's not notable then I think it is quite unfair cause there are so many people out there with a Wikipedia page with less to speak for themselves.

Please consider if this article might be published with maybe more information about the individual.

Also I was about to write an article about her mother who has been an artist since the 70's and they don't have a lot to show on social media since they don't invest their time in social media marketing, but they definitely are notable personalities.

Thanks for your time..

Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about them in reliable places, if there are no reliable sources then we do not have an article sorry. Theroadislong (talk) 07:15, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Contesting the rejection of the Wikipedia page

May I know the areas where I can improve my Wikipedia page draft so that it can be passed as an article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Imbinod (talkcontribs) 11:19, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Your draft is just an advert for NIT Conclave, Articles on Wikipedia must be adequately supported by independent reliable sources so that information can be verified and must be written in a neutral tone. Theroadislong (talk) 11:26, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Good Day Theroadislong

Have been trying to create an article concerning a website but i just discovered it was rejected i will like to know the reason and steps that i can apply to make changes — Preceding unsigned comment added by EmmyDread (talkcontribs) 15:06, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a place to tell the world about yourself. We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject. Theroadislong (talk) 15:27, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

How to get this wiki approved

hi i would need your advice on how to get this wiki approved. could you let me know how does this article qualifies as wikipedia?

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

this is my page User:Kschay/sandbox

Kschay (talk) 03:28, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

@Kschay: The page you linked does not exist, it has been moved to Draft:Kwai Chai Hong. Regards, (talk page stalker)CiaPan (talk) 05:53, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Kschay, an acceptable Wikipedia article summarizes what reliable, independent published sources say about the topic, and includes references to those sources. Your draft contains no references, and cannot possibly be accepted into the encylopedia until you add those references. Your draft fails two policies: it is not verifiable and seems to consist of original research, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:45, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Belle Delphine

Hey, Theroadisalong

I noticed you declined the Draft:Belle Delphine page back on June 1st. I never actually helped create the draft but I actually created Belle Delphine instead today after noticing significantly more notability. If you find that's it's good, and notable enough, I'd gladly want it reviewed. Also that draft was definitely copyvio [1] AdrianWikiEditor (talk) 10:19, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice, it is well taken, and I will attempt to correct the issues you've raised.

I've asked for the assistance of a colleague who does not have a COI, as you've pointed out that my relationship to the subject may indeed be a factor in the article tone. It may be a wiser choice in my situation to make a suggestion for an article from another editor, rather than try to write the article myself.

I will research this further, and I appreciate your suggestions.

Greetings Sir! Please I just saw that my article was moved to the deletion log by you. This is my first article on Wikipedia after a 150 edits and I will be so encouraged and excited to have you help me get it to standard and have it approved.

I apologize if there are rules I haven't kept in the course of developing the article and I promise to take your corrections. I'm teachable and a fast learner. Please I will be so glad if you can help me come up as an editor. Thanks for understanding.

Ohanwe Emmanuel .I. I am not an admin so can't have deleted any article of yours or in deed anyone else. User:RHaworth deleted your draft Draft:Otis Oliver Tabugbo Anyaeji because it was a copyright infringement of https://www.theeminentleaders.com/04/25/h-r-engr-otis-anyaeji-ktsgg-faeng-obi-ubahu-okija/ , Wikipedia is very strict about copying content from elsewhere. Only actor not recognized by Wikipedia in several films and projects in which he was a lead, supporting lead role...

As recommended I will pull all IMDB notations, but when I researched the wide array of films and television that Michael Buie has been a part of, I've noticed that he is often the only actor listed without his own link within the system...I was looking to rectify this.

Fair and Balanced, Mystery, Alaska, The Next Three Days, Grey's Anatomy. Will you reconsider?

TC2018 (talk) 19:05, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

The biography section has only one source, EVERY statement of fact requires a supporting source and all of the in line external links need to be removed, happy to review again once these problems are rectified. Theroadislong (talk) 19:16, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Mark L. Hinshaw, FAIA FAICP

Thank you for your feedback. A group of Mark's colleagues suggested an article for Wikipedia about a year ago, and as no-one had any experience writing an article, I volunteered to try and learn how to do so.

It was not my intent to promote Mark, rather I was the only one of several who had the time and writing experience to take on the project. However, my writing experience is not on Wikipedia, and it has been a challenge to learn all of the different rules as well as how to use the platform. Although I've read many articles about how to write on Wikipedia, it seems I still haven't quite mastered the information.

I was unaware about the COI rule until it was brought up, and I actually do not know where information of this sort should be placed on the entry. I am not unwilling to disclose anything, merely ignorant of how this information should be disclosed and where.

Were it possible to have another author work on this, as well as any future edits, I certainly would be happy to turn the project over to someone else. To that end, Mark has contacted his editor as well as the colleagues I spoke with originally, to inquire if a person without a COI can take over the project. Like me, Mark was unaware of the COI rule, and does not wish to either stress his wife (me), or cause issues of any kind.

Whatever my personal opinion, I was approached by a number of architects who believed Mark's contributions were important enough to add to Wikipedia, or I would not have agreed to take on such a task.

I appreciate your assistance, and I will hopefully turn over this endeavour to a person more suited to the task.

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019

Hello Theroadislong,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

Other news

School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.

Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Jorgen odegard decline

Hey Theroadislong!

Hope all is well. I happen to notice a decline for Jorgen Odegard’s wiki page which is totally okay because I’m very new to creating wiki pages. My goal is to improve and help songwriters and producers’ lifes with publishing & management company by creating sources of all their music credit and praises as this is one of the most useful tools publishing companies use to determine their qualifications for sessions, pub deals, and so much more! Also as you mentioned, the information on the producer is lacking and scattered all over the internet, which is why this wiki page is super important for a lot of these producers and songwriters.

That being said, would love your thoughts and suggestions that’ll help this process. To give you an idea, I used Sarah Aarons as a reference who’s another songwriter with a similar amount of credibility as jorgen in this industry. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Aarons Again, would love your input! Thanks so much — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sean1kim (talkcontribs) 17:57, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard (and a long time veteran of dispute resolution on Wikipedia generally) and I'll be re-opening the discussion there on William Lane Craig. Can you please leave a comment at the noticeboard (I have put a section there for you to do so) to note that you are happy to participate in the discussion. I'll take things from there. Cheers. Argyros Theater in Idaho

Hello,

I have reviewed your decline decision. It states, in part: "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject."

I do not understand this reasoning. Five separate articles have been attached, all of which are not just "passing mentions." Each article is entirely about the Argyros Theater In fact, the title of the venue, The Argyros, appears in the subject line of each article.

Second, each of these five sources is "published, reliable, [and] secondary."

Can you please let me know why this article has been declined?
