ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:43, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Babylon Bee

[edit]

Information icon Hi Squatch347! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of The Babylon Bee several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:The Babylon Bee, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Margen74 (talk) 14:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Margen74, the Babylon Bee is one of the pages I normally review for edits. I'm not sure I would label my reverts as falling inside of Edit Warring. They are generally reverts of vandalism, including antisemitic comments of late. I'm generally under the impression that we should be incredibly cautious with articles that are WP:BLPs; especially if that content is WP:BLPSource. Primary sources should be discussed on the talk page prior to being added. I would sympathize with your 'deletionist' position when it comes to BLPs especially.
This specific addition falls squarely into that camp I think. I'm also not sure what it adds and has a lot of WP:OR feel to it. There is no secondary source providing context to the larger story or why it would be important to point out. The relevant content is at the 7 minute mark of the linked video and it doesn't quite accurately reflect the tone of the comment as well. Those are the reasons I reverted that edit. Oh wait, now I get it, you just copied this message from your talk page. Squatch347 (talk) 19:44, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Babylon Bee, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bloomberg.

Voting for coordinators is now open!

[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:41, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
