Production

[edit]

In November 2022, after their first feature film got stuck in post production and collapsed due to undisclosed reasons, 1 Squad Films announced their second feature length project. The movie was to be shot on Chitwan, Nepal. However due to multiple reasons, the film was shelved before it went to production.

Several Months later, in February 2023, the team decided to move on to a new project and titled it as, "A Place Under the Sun", and decided to fund the movie themselves. Due to budget constraints, they decided on shooting the entire film with an Iphone 14 Pro Max. Director Jason Lopchan and Cinematographer Prabin Limbu were heavily inspired by Steven Soderbergh's High Flying Bird and Unsane.

Principal photography began on April 19, 2023, in various places of Chitwan. By the end of May, the majority of production had already finished as they moved on to their second schedule in Kathmandu.

On 17 September 2023, after they had finished the entire production phase, they announced the movie through various news articles [1][2], also releasing a first look of the movie.

On 13 April 2024, the team announced that the movie would streaming on multiple platforms on July 2024.

Release

[edit]

A Place Under the Sun is scheduled to stream on multiple platform beginning August 2024, with limited theatrical release in Nepal, dates to be announced soon.[4]
