Invitation to join the Ten Year Society

Dear GoingBatty/Archive11,

I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Ten Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for ten years or more.

Best regards, Chris Troutman (talk) 14:35, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

@Chris troutman:  Done - thank you! GoingBatty (talk) 21:07, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello, in the categories at this page there is a clearly mis-typed one for "Articles with unsourced statements from Bebruiary 2020" which obv. renders in red. I've looked at all the things I can think of that might have produced it but haven't figured out how it's got there. Purging the page gave me the opportunity to remove it but doing so failed! Any ideas? Many thanks, Eagleash (talk) 18:11, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

@Eagleash: It appears you introduced the redlink article in this edit when you accidentally added . It was fixed by AnomieBOT in this edit. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 18:48, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
Oh good grief!! How could I not spot that. Thanks! Eagleash (talk) 20:38, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

WP:ORDER

As per WP:ORDER the correct order is

 1. Short description
 2. Hatnotes
 3. Deletion/Protection tags (CSD, PROD, AFD, PP notices) - etc.

However; as seen in this edit the bot is changing the correct order to an incorrect order, by moving the hatnote above the short description. Could you please correct its ordering to match the MOS, thank you - Arjayay (talk) 11:53, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

@Arjayay: Thank you for letting me know. I have reported the issue to the WP:AWB developers. GoingBatty (talk) 14:24, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

User:GoingBatty/stopbutton should be self explanatory in case you ever need it. -- GreenC 01:52, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

It's ready. The email arrives from @tools.wmflabs.org for spam filter purposes. It runs once a day in the morning GMT, but can be anything you want let me know. You can monitor more pages if you want each its own email. I monitor Template:Deceased to see who died. If no change no email. If you decide to unsubscribe permanently let me know I will stop the process. -- GreenC 03:33, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

@GreenC: Thank you very much! Is there a place where can I specify the list of pages to be monitored? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 03:42, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Hmm maybe a page like /stopbutton .. -- GreenC 03:49, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
@GreenC: Just received my first email:

Backlinks Watchlist

------------------------------
758 new backlinks for Billboard

Additions over 100
List not sent in email nor added to /data/project/botwikiawk/bw/Billboard.add
To see changes:

grep -vxF -f '/data/project/botwikiawk/bw/Billboard.old' -- '/data/project/botwikiawk/bw/Billboard.new'

Does this include links to billboard and Billboard? If so, is it possible to make it case sensitive? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 03:50, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
The first email shows the list of backlinks was initially 0 and it found 758 (all of them) which were added this run. The next run it will show the differences, for any that were added or subtracted since the last time it ran. I understand the goal is to catch dab cases for the magazine, which will be uppercase. Currently it is case insensitive. Let me look into it. -- GreenC 04:04, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
@GreenC: The next run states "1 new backlinks for Billboard - Additions (added to /data/project/botwikiawk/bw/Billboard.add ): J Balvin". I confirmed there was a new link to Billboard on the J Balvin article, which I changed to Billboard (magazine). Looks like it works well - thank you!
I created User:GoingBatty/Backlines with a few articles to be monitored, in case you're able to set up your tool to use a page for inputs. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 16:30, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
It's using that page for the cfg file. I added a check for Billboard capitalization but can't easily test so will wait to hear if you think it is not working with an example page. It imperfect because there is no way to know which link was added (without a lot of work looking through revisions) so it just checks the page for the existence of Billboard or [[Billboard| .. if those already exist elsewhere in the page it will show up in the list even if the link added is billboard. -- GreenC 18:13, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
@GreenC: Received four emails: three said "Additions over 100 - List not sent in email nor added to to /data/project/botwikiawk/bw....." GoingBatty (talk) 19:27, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
That's OK normal for the first run (I reset the Billboard). It will work normally after this, it needs to run at least 2 times before it can begin to generate a diff(erence). -- GreenC 21:34, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
@GreenC: Today's report for "Apple" included Lost Apple Project and List of Apple codenames, which had additions of lowercase apple.
Today's report for "Billboard" stated "5 new backlinks for Billboard", but did not include the list of articles. Thanks for all your help! GoingBatty (talk) 21:06, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

I thought it was only Billboard duh .. ok the way it works now if the name in the cfg page starts with a capital letter then it will do a capital check. Or, for example if it is * billboard then it will not do the capital check, even though both would be monitoring the same billboard page.. The reason for the blank 5 was because they were not capitals, it should no longer do that. Also removed the 'Subtractions' report I don't think you care about. -- GreenC 23:20, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

@GreenC: Wonderful - thank you! I added your explanation as a comment on User:GoingBatty/Backlinks, and added four pages to check the lowercase (e.g. friends links to the TV show, so the link should either be capitalized or changed to friends). Thanks again!
@GreenC: Today's report for Apple listed two articles that contained Apple (uppercase), which I changed to Apple Inc.. Thank you! GoingBatty (talk) 21:45, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Ok good. Must be a common occurrence, 2 on the first day. -- GreenC 23:44, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

We sometimes gets dab notifications like this. Wonder if it makes sense for certain articles like capital Apple and Billboard. So the editor responsible is notified. It would have to go through VP proposal and BRFA but suspect it would have a good chance of support. -- GreenC 14:16, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

@GreenC: I think the notifications would have to be manual, as there are cases where Apple and Billboard are used properly. GoingBatty (talk) 23:03, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes, see what you think after some time with it. If it's 1 in a 100 or something the notification could apologize/"please ignore" a mistake. It could filter words at the start of a sentence or in a table for example. --GreenC 00:08, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

 • (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.)
 • For the Persija Jakarta infobox, there is no need to include "px" after |image_size=. To test this, edit the page to change the infobox to |image_size=1000 and click Show preview. Note how the image is much bigger, even though you did not include "px". Then cancel the change instead of saving it.
 • I performed a Google image search for "Tensung FC logo" and found two designs. Does Tensung FC have an official webpage where we can find their current official logo? Maybe Chanheigeorge would know?
 • I hope you are also able to suggest edits and ask for help on the article talk pages. For example, I just posted a request for a team logo on Talk:Tensung FC. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 20:25, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

@IDeagle94: I think you are referring to Talk:Donald Trump Jr.#Semi-protected edit request on 20 April 2020, where I wrote: Not done: I don't see the words "big game" anywhere in the article.
Looking again today, I still don't see the words "big game" in the Donald Trump Jr. article, and I don't see that it has been removed recently. If you could please be more specific about your request, I would be happy to try to help you. GoingBatty (talk) 03:25, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

With reference to your reply

Since I do not share any conflict of interest so I have boldly deleted the tag and also discussed on the project talk page but other biased editor user:AaqibAnjum is persistently vandaliizing Shakir Ali Noori Needs your urgent attention ThanksMaizbhandariya (talk) 15:00, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

@Maizbhandariya: Being concerned about puffery, quoting reliable sources accurately, and a potential conflict of interest is not vandalism, and making false claims about another editor does not meet Wikipedia's policy of civility. Making a change once is being bold, but making the same change multiple times without working to build consensus on the article talk page is edit warring. Hopefully you've seen that AaqibAnjum has removed the COI template from Shakir Ali Noori, and posted on Talk:Shakir Ali Noori. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:10, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Rollbacks

Hi @GoingBatty: - I noticed you did some rollbacks of a certain IP editor, however, I do not see you issuing any type of notice to said, "editor". Looking at all their contributions, it appears to me the IP should be banned, however, they only have one Lvl1 warning. Just wanted to make you aware of that because earlier I reported someone for a block with a ton of diffs, but it got denied for that same reason "insufficient warnings" lol

Thanks Galendalia CVU Member \ Chat Me Up 06:29, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

@Galendalia: You're right - I should have done added the talk page warning. Are you referring to this edit or something else? Thank you for the reminder! GoingBatty (talk) 14:14, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

@GoingBatty: Bingo was his name-o! That would be it. Galendalia CVU Member \ Chat Me Up 14:31, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

@Galendalia: I didn't use rollback to undo that edit, because I wanted to state in the edit summary that I reverted the edit was because it was unsourced. However, I still should have added a warning to the talk page. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:46, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

About Ustad Ashique Ali Khan Page

Hello sir I need your help https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ustad_Ashique_Ali_Khan please check is this now ready to submit? Amaan.ali30 (talk) 04:38, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

@Amaan.ali30: Not yet. As the gray boxes on the top of the draft say, you still need to provide additional "published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject" that "show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject". Most of the article is copied from (and referenced from) the one article from The Hindu- you need more than that. Also, the guidance from jmcgnh still are relevant:
 1. The italics and the bolding still need to be cleaned up.
 2. There are still many sentences that are not referenced, such as those about the awards and All India Radio.
 3. Still too promotional (e.g. "who was also great Sarangi maestro", "his exemplary rendition", "untrammeled praise", "remained constantly involved in furthering the cause of Music")
Presuming you can find additional sources, I would also suggest creating a section called "Career" between "Early life and background" and "Death and Legacy", since several of the paragraphs are about his career. Hope this helps! GoingBatty (talk) 16:17, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Help with "Petr & The Wulf (album by Munly & The Lupercalians)"

Hello, and thanks for answering my question on the Petr & the Wulf page today! I appreciate it.

I just contacted another user (@Rotideypoc41352:) but perhaps you can help me as well, since you look like more of a music/album page editor.

My question: I picked a page at random to try to model this page after - I chose Taylor Swift's Speak Now album. On "Track Listing" and "Personnel", it says "credits adapted from liner notes". If you hover over the numbered citations, one example is: Speak Now Deluxe Edition (CD). Taylor Swift. Big Machine Records. 2010. 602527493947. Should the 'source' for liner notes look more like that? What does the last number mean, and how do I cite that? Is there a template for it?

I'm pretty new at all this - I've also been editing Jay Munly and Slim Cessna's Auto Club these past couple of months.

Thank you in advance! - Xx rapunzel xx (talk) 03:30, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict) :@Xx rapunzel xx: I Googled "602527493947" and found that the number is the Universal Product Code for the deluxe version of the album - see the last photo at https://www.discogs.com/Taylor-Swift-Speak-Now/release/3375667
Looking at the code for the Personnel section of Speak Now, I see those references use cite AV media notes. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 03:42, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

AWB

Hello GB, please note that this edit from AWB broke a lot of references with the automated reflist addition. It's an easy change to miss in the diff, but larger articles which are absolutely heaving with local and transcluded references sometimes need special handling in the reference template. That one uses a "references responsive" tag wrapped in a div. Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 06:22, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

@Capewearer: Thank you for letting me know about my incorrect edit. I apologize for breaking such an important page. I look forward to the AWB team releasing a new version, which will contain a bug fix for this issue. GoingBatty (talk) 13:31, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Chichester High School

Hi Thanks for getting back to me. I can’t make edits to the pages. My problem is that the page is all wrong! Basically, the Chichester High School for Girls page needs to be re-instated and a new page set up for Chichester High School. This is a NEW school. Both CHSG and CHSB have their own history before merging to become one school. Both CHSG and CHSB closed.

The information Wikipedia is now showing is sadly incorrect 😞

(TJW713 (talk) 11:02, 11 May 2020 (UTC))

@TJW713: You mentioned that you can't make edits to the pages, but I don't see any security on the Chichester High School article. Do you have a conflict of interest preventing you from editing the article, or is it that you don't know how to edit the article? I've invited the editors involved in the recent merge to view your post on the article talk page. GoingBatty (talk) 14:19, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi - I have a conflict of interest. The problem now is that it says the school is closed (as it’s still really Chichester High School for Girls!). We as Chichester High School are VERY MUCH open supporting key worker families during COVID-19. Basically, I need someone to create a Chichester High School page and leave the Chichester High School for GIRLS page as perhaps an archive like the Chichester High School for BOYS page. Sorry - I would do it myself if I could! but that is against Wikipedia rules. Thank you for your help TJW713 (talk) 19:59, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

@TJW713: I hope you saw that you received a response at Talk:Chichester High School#CHS formerly CHSG, and that you will continue to discuss your concerns there (and disclose your conflict of interest). Good luck! GoingBatty (talk) 21:29, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Edit request template

Hello GoingBatty. With regards to this change, I looked at advising the editor to use edit request, but it brings up the message "The user below has a request that an edit be made to this article for which that user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest.", but as there is no conflict of interest, I didn't think it was suitable. Is there another one, which doesn't involve incorrectly stating there is a COI to use? Cheers, Number 57 20:02, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

@Number 57: Neither template is perfect, and I'm not aware of a better one. Since there is no protection on the pages, I hope that using edit request template will give the requests more visibility, and people can see the notes about the arbitration case in the talk page sections. GoingBatty (talk) 20:09, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
TBH I was quite surprised that it was specifically for COI edits. I wonder whether it might be worth converting it to a general request template, and having a new one for COI-type edits. Number 57 20:11, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
@Number 57: I would not object to that. GoingBatty (talk) 20:12, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Tanaza - GoingBatty

Good morning GoingBatty, here is Paul Smith 1970. I'm writing to you regards your last comments on the page that I've written dedicated to Tanaza. I would contest your comment because in the creation of the page I've tried to be more as factual a basis as possible. What it's written on the page is simply what Tanaza is and what is its history, no promotional intent. I have used some reference articles and websites of high-level (such as Facebook Engineering Blog, Sole 24 ore, Yahoo Finance, and also two patents by Google Patents approved by US Government).

It's not a promotional intent to say that a company has won important awards or create partnerships in its sector. It's simply the story. About the chapter of philanthropy, there are multiple examples of companies on Wikipedia that talk about their "good deeds". Philanthropy is not a promotional intent for the business itself, but also an opportunity to use the name of the company as a medium to touch public opinion on a certain important topic for society.

This is my explanation to defend what I've written. Please, leave a comment to let me understand what is wrong in this style of writing because honestly, the commercial scope is not present in this article.

If you can, leave a concrete example of what is a commercial phrase for your judgment.

I'm glad to understand and learn these shades between my style of writing and your perception of reading because I've written following all the Wikipedia Rules. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul Smith 1970 (talkcontribs) 07:08, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

@Paul Smith 1970: In Draft:Tanaza, Celestina007 provided a comment stating "Too Promotional & would qualify for a G11". My comment was that you resubmitted it without making any attempt to address Celestina007's feedback. I direct you to Celestina007 to address this issue. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:31, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Thank you @GoingBatty, the creator of this article @Paul Smith 1970 definitely is exhibiting tale signs of undisclosed paid editing/ COI. They have had their drafts rejected at least twice now at the AFC & despite my lengthy explanation & dialogue with the article creator on my talk page & having explained to them that other stuff exists to create articles on, they have remained fixated on this article hinting at either UPE / COI. Either way they have proven to be a single purpose account. Celestina007 (talk) 15:04, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Slightly Confused?

Hi GoingBatty - thanks for reviewing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Outernet_London - I am very confused why this keeps on getting rejected.

This is a major major development in central London that I walk past when I go to work every day. It's huge and a massive landmark and should be on Wikipedia. It also includes Denmark Street which is world famous. I don't see how my post reads like an advertisement - there is no hyperbole, no inflated claims nor anything that isn't verifiable from the extensive list of citations I have put together and includes coverage in major mainstream UK media for example The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, the London Evening Standard, The Independent, Sky News, CityAM etc all reflecting the fact this is a major development with a footfall of millions and is of public interest.

Could I please ask you to re-review? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nycinuk (talkcontribs) 09:33, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

@Paul Smith 1970: Nycinuk: In Draft:Outernet London, RoySmith provided a comment about the "promotional language". My comment was that you resubmitted it without making any attempt to address RoySmith's feedback. "The scale of the Outernet project is vast" does not seem encyclopedic to me. I direct you to RoySmith to address the issue. If you have a conflict of interest, you also need to disclose it on your user page. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:39, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Nycinuk, This doesn't seem outrageously bad, but it's still got a lot of fluffy language which makes the whole piece sound like you're trying to describe the project in the best possible light. One trick for making something sound less promotional is to delete all the adjectives. Well, not exactly, but it's a good place to start.
For example, in "major mixed use development ", I'd delete "major". Don't make judgement calls. Give the reader data. Tell them it has a 2000 seat music venue. Tell them how many square meters of shopping area there will be. How many stores. How many residential apartments, and their total area. With data like that, the reader can draw their own conclusion as to whether this is "major" or not.
Likewise, "many areas" -> "areas".
"it will herald a new era of retail for the world famous" is just plain fluff, trying to sell the user on how great this is. Delete all of that.
Also, see WP:REFBOMBING. It's rare that a sentence needs more than 1 or 2 references. The idea is to provide a way for the user to verify the facts presented. Adding 5, 6, or more references just makes it harder to read and harder to find the specific source that verifies the sentence.
I'd probably delete the last two paragraphs. Ten years from now will anybody care who the construction contractor was? And the "first of a series" stuff is both promotional hype and WP:CRYSTAL.
With all that being said, take a step back and look at each sentence. Ask youself, "Is this presenting a fact, or is this trying to convince the reader of something". If it's the latter, then it's promotional. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:00, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Both the things you mention - adding "major" and reference to "vast" have been added on the last draft because I am dumbfounded this article was not approved when even a quick glance at the references would show what a major project it is and those references are national press in the UK! I think it's pretty apparent that the first rejection was incorrect and it looks like the other reviews have just followed that without looking at the references. The reason there are so many references now is because each rejection said there needed to be more references!

The language is almost all from the references cited. I will go back in now and put in all in quotes. There is also detail of the controversy this project has generated too.

Re construction - yes if you are into that - like me and a whole industry (!) you'd be extremely interested in who has built what is essentially a new Piccadilly Circus in London! Millions of people walk past this site each month - it's right in the heart of Central London. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nycinuk (talkcontribs) 15:16, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Articles from reputable magazines and newspapers can also be used as references. IMDb should not be used as a reliable source, since much of the content is user generated - see Wikipedia:Citing IMDb. Dr.Neal Handel Article

Hello GoingBatty, I received your message about the article being declined for Dr. Handel. I included references to the book he actually wrote (2 of them) and links to iMDB, which references the shows he was in TLC and Discovery Channel. He's also getting ready to be on a new episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where he'll be performing plastic surgery on Kim Richards. What other things would you recommend me add for validity?

I hope this message find you well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesseals (talkcontribs) 18:58, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

@Jamesseals: For Draft:Dr. Neal Handel, your goal should be to show that he meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". Please read the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (academics)#Criteria. If he meets these criteria, please provide reliable sources by people who write about Handel's work (e.g. books or articles from journals/newspapers/magazines written by other people). You can include an IMDb link in an "External links" section at the bottom of the draft, but IMDb cannot be used as a reference. GoingBatty (talk) 19:14, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

If you are trying to ask why your draft is not being accepted while there are other articles that already exist, please read the essay Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. If you are referring to the pending drafts at Category:Pending AfC submissions, there are dozens of drafts submitted every day, and it can take quite a while to give an accurate review and recommendations for each draft. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 17:20, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia Biography for an Architect

Dear, I have added the references... and I would like to mention that I am not paid for doing this, this is just an honor to show an architect's work to the world... As an Architecture student, I would like to do this. I would like to also ask how can I remove the Draft: from the title of the page... cause now it is Draft: Camilo...

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by CR1972 (talkcontribs) 00:35, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

@CR1972: As mentioned on Wikipedia:Teahouse#Wikipedia Biography for an Architect, you first need to disclose your conflict of interest on Special:MyPage. Instead of writing Draft:Camilo Rebelo based on what Rebelo told you, it would be better for you to gather your independent reliable sources, summarize what they say, and then cite the sources. I see you added references, but you should add inline citations before resubmitting your draft for review again. If your draft is approved, the "Draft:" will be removed from the title of the page. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 01:22, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello! I declined Draft:Thakur Ji Pathak because it does not have any inline citations (see Draft:Chandra Prakash Pathak for examples of how inline citations work). At the top of the draft is a gray box explaining why the draft was declined. Please click on each link in this box and read the document in full. I also suggest that you update the infobox and lead paragraph of Draft:Thakur Ji Pathak to make it clear that he died on March 28, 1994. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:30, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

The draft will be approved based on whether you have the talent to show how Draft:Chandra Prakash Pathak meets Wikipedia's notability criteria with an encyclopedia tone. I noticed that you are asking about drafts for two people named "Pathak". Please also read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and declare any conflict on your user page when you are logged in to Wikipedia. Happy editing! == hello GoringBatty == removed all the external links from the paragraphs and put selected ones below; also changed the sources to neutral sources. I pray it all looks better and will continue to work on it - if you see fit. Roccie ;) 04:52, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Roccie

@Roccie: For Draft:Adrian Richard Lewis, I do not see any sources for the "Personal" section. You may be writing your draft based on things you personally know about Lewis, and now are searching for sources. Instead, you should be compiling independent sources, and then summarizing what they say. Happy editing! @Roccie: I did some work to clean up your draft. In order for your draft to be accepted, you have to demonstrate that Lewis meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". For academics, the criteria can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (academics)#Criteria. Almost all of the references you provided are written by Lewis. Your goal is to find independent references written about Lewis and the importance of his work. For example, who considers Omaha Beach the best analysis available? Further clarity needed Dopoe,Jr (talk) 05:54, 29 May 2020 (UTC)May 29, 2020

Hey Going Batty, this Dopoe, Jr. I submitted an article about KzeeBigname and you turned it down. I need further explanation on your comment that the article I submitted is a test edit, and not an article worth of an encyclopedia.

I am not trying to contest your comment; however, I want you to know that I support the article with lots of facts-- reliably source (reference). If you check other articles about Liberian artists published by Wikipedia, I am, you will consider mine for approval.

Looks forwards to hearing from you asap. Once again, thanks for your earlier response! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dopoe,Jr (talkcontribs) 05:54, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

@Dopoe,Jr: I declined User:Dopoe,Jr/sandbox because there is no content there - just rows of tags. I see you are also working on Draft:KzeeBigname, but you have not submitted it yet for review. Happy editing! Refused Article.

Hi there. I created and submitted an article about Wilker Flores. but you refuse it. He is the star of the documentary Death Metal Angola and he deserve an article here on Wikipedia.. I am writing about him, cause i know him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rob Allen369 (talkcontribs) 01:40, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

@Rob Allen369: Since you know Wilker Flores, please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If you want to continue with Draft:Wilker Flores, please declare your conflict of interest at User:Rob Allen369. When creating a draft, you should gather independent reliable sources (not social media) and then summarize what they say. The Universo article looks promising, and maybe you can find some more magazine or newspaper articles. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 01:49, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Would you mind checking the changes? Your comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@ZhaoNing: Now that you added the high citation impact index back, I hope one of the other reviewers will look at your draft again soon. In the meantime, there are things you can do to improve it, such as:
 • remove the redlink to the Smith School
 • move the interactive map link to an "External links" section
 • work on formatting the references

@GoingBatty: Hi.

I have updated the article temple. Can you please verify it now Diwakaran1dan (talk) 22:47, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[1]

@Diwakaran1dan: Draft:Nixs News Tamil still has the same problem from the first two reviews: no independent reliable sources that show significant coverage of Nixs News Tamil. Please look at the messages in the gray boxes at the top of the draft, click on each link, and read the policies/guidelines. GoingBatty (talk) 22:59, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Freedom FM Radio

Dear GoingBatty - I'm still in the process of putting it together on Wikipedia. I'm a volunteer host there (as in unpaid, full disclosure). The station is a bit over a year young, but IT'S AN ACTUAL STATION WITH AN OFFICE - not anything broadcasting from home, attic, park bench etc. Really recognized in the community – 200+ listeners daily. It's in the process of acquiring a nonprofit status. They have nothing to do with Putin's current tyrannical rule over Russia - a thoroughly American enterprise. I have the images from FCC that I can't upload somehow to show the coverage and the legitimacy of this station. It's manned by seasoned pros, not newbies. Not that its presence on Wikipedia is critical to its existence - it's just strange that a brick-and-mortar business can't get a digital recognition. What say you?Yura Dashevsky (talk) 03:51, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

@Yura Dashevsky: Please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If you wish to continue working on this draft, please disclose your conflict of interest on your user page. The gray box on the top of Draft:Freedom FM Radio 104.7FM states that the reason I declined your draft was that you did not include any "significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject." There are several links in that box to Wikipedia's policies, which I encourage you to read. FCC images will not help you establish Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". Not every brick-and-mortar business meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability, and no draft will be accepted without independent sources. Hope this helps! GoingBatty (talk) 04:10, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

THANK YOU. This is a radio station, it has a nice office (have photos to prove it), a license to do business/broadcast (available), it was open during CoVID-19 as an essential business (as a media organization). It itself is a newsmaker, it's not on the lookout for external sources to confirm its existence or necessity. My thinking was that it's the Wikipedia who would benefit from my free input more than Freedom FM. At this point it's a housekeeping matter for a business to be on Wikipedia, and now it's a sort of a medal, it looks like.Yura Dashevsky (talk) 14:28, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

@FilmIndia2020: I just reviewed some of the references and rejected the draft. Please correct all references and resubmit. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 21:08, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

@Goingbatty:- Hi I have fixed all the dead links which were not dead links when I sourced them previously. In the Early life section which you said does not mention Mudasir zafar does mention his article at page no 5 of the same newspaper, Selection of page 5 will have to be done manually (now added as source no 16).IMDb removed as references as per your instructions.Cricketing career I have deleted as of now although there is a mention of his cricketing career in most of the sources used.

@FilmIndia2020: Hi there! I spent a lot of time updating the references. The first sentence states Zafar is a writer, but the draft doesn't explain what he has written. The phrase "passing out" usually means a loss of consciousness, so I suggest you change the wording. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 23:19, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

@Goingbatty:- Thank you for you time in Fixing the references.I have done the corrections. Have mentioned him only as an actor for now and I have used some other wordings in spite of passing out. Please review Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by FilmIndia2020 (talkcontribs) 04:47, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

@FilmIndia2020: Thank you. I'm curious to see how more experienced reviewers will respond to the references. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 22:03, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your response.I have to get it reviewed by some other reviewer now? I thought once I have improved the draft, it will be reviewed and approved by you only as you are also quite experienced and you have a authority to review it and you have seen it in detail from sometime now. Every new Reviewer will have a different opinion and in the process I don't know how it will be approved then.If you feel I have improved the article and done all the corrections, You only review it please as I Have been working on it since months very patiently and getting an article approved will give me confidence in starting up with more drafts. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FilmIndia2020 (talkcontribs) 12:04, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

@FilmIndia2020: As you requested, I have looked at Draft:Mudasir Zafar again, and posted my comment there. GoingBatty (talk) 03:41, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello Those images I tried to insert in this draft previously and not on the Commons and now I have asked for a speedy deletion of the images as it's not my work at all as its mentioned and how does it matter if the same images are used in the publications? There are more than 150 images available of the actor on Google. You took out your time in fixing them couple of days back and never mentioned any issue in the images previously,Otherwise I would have corrected it before only. Now I have deleted the images in the draft also so that there is no conflict again without any reason, coz it's frustating.I will add the images later and if u can help in fixing at least 1 image in the draft, it will be great. Please help in resolving the issue as there is no personal interest as you mentioned. Thank you Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by FilmIndia2020 (talkcontribs) 05:27, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

@FilmIndia2020: If they truly were your images, the fact that they were also used in newspaper articles could signify that you were working for the actor, which would be a conflict of interest that would need to be disclosed on your Wikipedia user page. If they are not your images, then uploading them and claiming they are your own work is infringing the copyright of the true owners of the photos. Thank you for having them deleted. Do not upload any photos that you find on Google unless you understand the copyright status. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:05, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes I do understand and I never claimed them as my images, as I told you that I was just trying to insert those images in the draft not on Commons.Nothing more than a confusion. Now when I understood the issue, I immediately deleted them.So for now I Haven't used any of the Image because I don't want any more issues.I have a question now, Which image should I insert in the draft now If I can't copy them from google or should I leave it imageless unless approved? @FilmIndia2020: I'm not confident you have enough references that are both independent and reliable. I'm curious to see what more experienced reviewers say (especially about the five "Moment to cherish" articles). GoingBatty (talk) 15:57, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Alright if thats the case then let me edit out some of those references and wait for the new references to get published and then source them in the draft. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by FilmIndia2020 (talkcontribs) 16:32, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

hello

hello batty i have done changes which were raised by you and all was done according to wiki's policies. my purpose to create article named as Sukhpal Sukh on wikipedia is just to provide information about this music producers who is in punjabi (india asia) music industry since 1990 with huge catalogue . this artist was almost away from tv, newspapers or magazines interviews, social media since long that's why there are not so much references available on net. now he is reconnecting to his fan with social media, and his offical website which is under construction. my aim is not to promote him or do any advertisement for him as he is a well known and legend in punjabi music industry. so i will be happy if you can look into this matter as early as possible. thanks and regards brother — Preceding unsigned comment added by VirdiOnline (talkcontribs) 18:02, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

@VirdiOnline: References do not have to be on the net. They can also be newspaper and magazine articles, as long as you provide enough information that other people can find and read the same articles. I have added my comments on Draft:Sukhpal Sukh. GoingBatty (talk) 16:20, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

That's the main problem brother this artist was kind of unsociable person at his peak of career. Thats why he was not a part of interviews, print or digital articles. So this article is my homage to this artist. Now he is working hard to maintain and rebuild his social media presence. My request is to publish this article to main space. Introduction to Gordon Tredgold, and correction of Tyler L Adams

Please help in accessing this new Article, and the correction of Tyler L Adams, it takes almost 124 hours without any response from moderator, contributor and others regarding Tyler L Adams Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 01:00, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: Draft:Gordon Tredgold is not an article - it is a draft (see WP:Drafts) which you have not yet submitted for review. Before you submit it, please change the promotional wording (e.g. "awarding winner, super excellent coach"), fix the section headers (see Help:Section), refer to him as "Tredgold" (see WP:SURNAME), and fix the spelling and capitalization.
The big yellow box on Draft:Tyler L. Adams (which I just moved to the top of the draft for you) states "Review waiting, please be patient. This may take 5 weeks or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order." I see that the comments I left on 9 June have not been addressed. Happy editing! @Kcsnooker: Thank you - I have responded at Draft:Kamal Chawla. GoingBatty (talk) 13:34, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks again for the review. I have made all the changes as mentioned by you. There is one citation which is of Wikipedia, but the citation of the source in the Wiki article is also broken and hence there is no other citation available. Let me know how to address that. Also, have restored the COI page that I had created earlier. Thanks again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcsnooker (talkcontribs) 18:02, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

@Kcsnooker: It appears that reference #3 of Cue sports at the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games could also be used on Draft:Kamal Chawla. Your draft claims "He has won 10 International Medals for India", but the medal table only shows nine medals. Plus, Cue sports at the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games states that he was an independent athlete (not competing for India). I hope you can address these discrepancies in the draft. GoingBatty (talk) 15:43, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, have added clarification on the 10 international medals and also corrected the Medal List. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcsnooker (talkcontribs) 15:49, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me and your comments. As to reference 7 in article, its impossible to find now the Decree wich awarded Mr. Yenin with his Order and when I didnt put refernce in previous editions you corecrted me that I should, so what I have to do in such a case. Also I find a lot of articles in Wikipedia that doesnt have references to each sentence. When I put reference to the educational instituotion in section Early life you also corrected me. So why some articles in Wikipedia doesnt have references to each sentence and you edite me every time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DashaHor (talkcontribs) 18:05, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

@DashaHor: There are many existing Wikipedia articles that need to be improved (or maybe even deleted) - see Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. It seems that you are writing the draft based on what you personally know about Yenin, and then you are trying to find sources to match what you know. Instead, you should be gathering the independent reliable sources, summarizing what they say, and then providing the inline citations so everyone else can see the same sources you used. Hope this helps! GoingBatty (talk) 21:03, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Please help with unaddressed issue regarding on 9 June. All I know I tried all the possible way to meet up with what you said at that time Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 21:46, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: Let's start with the question I asked: Which of the Wikipedia:Notability (academics)#Criteria does Adams meet? GoingBatty (talk) 23:46, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Well based on what I read Wikipedia: Notability (academics) one must hold high top position such as distinguished Professor, and other. Tyler is the current Dean of Mass Communication in the American University of Emirates, he was also dean a Dean of university of Bahamas and many more. His published work have contributed a lot world education. All the links provided are nearly independent source Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 04:49, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Please I want to know how to how to submit my draft for reviewing please, please help me to submit it or guide me. Thanks Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 16:29, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: You claimed above "His published work have contributed a lot world education." Do you have an independent reliable source that states this? You claimed "All the links provided are nearly independent source". Biographies on his employers' web sites are not independent. His book's web site and Amazon listings are not independent. GoingBatty (talk) 23:19, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the positive response sir, please help to access my Draft: Gordon Tredgold, I have edited promotional words, please help me to submit it or guide me to submit it Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 23:26, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: I see that someone else has nominated Draft:Gordon Tredgold for speedy deletion. You'll have to work through that process before submitting it for review. GoingBatty (talk) 00:05, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I have work on it to contest for speedy deletion.i was asked to remove promotional words, and I have removed them. That's only problem with the draft. I guess you can see it was edited from it original write up. Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 04:37, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: I added the AFC draft template to Draft:Gordon Tredgold for you. Before you submit the draft, I suggest you provide a reference for every award, fix the section headers (see Help:Section), add Template:Reflist, fix your reference templates, fix the capitalization and punctuation, and refer to him as "Tredgold" (not "Gordon" or "Gardon" per WP:SURNAME). Independent sources

Hi @goingbatty,

I was going through the reference link you provided (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Independent_sources) and it clearly says News media is considered as relevant media when writing about a person. Could you please help me understand this better or consider re-submission of the article for consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhushan Diwan (talkcontribs) 17:23, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

@Bhushan Diwan: Hi there! Wikipedia:Independent sources#Press releases states "Many less reputable news sources will write an article based almost exclusively on a press release, making only minor modifications. When using news sources whose editorial integrity you are uncertain of, and an article reads like a press release, it is crucial to check to see that the source is not simply recycling a press release (a practice called 'churnalism')." On Draft:Shubhanshu_Joshi, I commented "Business Insider, Inc42, DealStreet Asia, and the Economic Times seem to be variations of a recent press release" because the four articles were all based on the same PTI (Press Trust of India) article. Hope this helps! (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Review comments on Draft: Kamal Chawla

Hello,

Thanks for the review of article! I have resolved all the comments you had on the article. Just wanted to check if there are any further review comments and what would be the next step. Kcsnooker (talk) 18:42, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

@Kcsnooker: It seems you mention most medals up to four times (in the medal table, in the "Snooker Career" section, in the "Identity at National Level"/"International Career" sections, and in the "INTERNATIONAL"/"NATIONALS" sections), so I suggest you remove some of the redundancy. Also, please remove the reference to the Wikipedia article, per WP:CIRCULAR. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 01:14, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
 – Combined sections on the same topic. Please don't start a new section every time you want to continue a conversation.

Thank you for the feedback again! I have removed Wiki citation to avoid circular reference and also cut short medals section to avoid redundancy. Now there is a National & International career section with details on the matches/results and a list of medals. Please let me know if you have any further comments.

Also, any pointers on how much more time it can take the article to be published? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcsnooker (talkcontribs) 18:53, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Since I can't create articles yet could I get some red links to work on? Printsess4277 (talk) 04:56, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

@Printsess4277: I don't know if there's a list of red links to work on, but you might find Wikipedia:Red link helpful. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:24, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Editing

Hello there GoingBatty. I noticed that you edited the page that im currently creating and having trouble with... but i dont see any notice.

May i know what else is to improve on? I have done necessary improvement from previous reviewer, about putting legit references... Thank you for your help! :D

here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Samuel_Somerville — Preceding unsigned comment added by Athirah Hanapi (talkcontribs) 09:05, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@Athirah Hanapi: I made some more updates for you. Reference #7 needs to be fixed, as the Slough Town home page doesn't have any info on Somerville. Why are the infobox stats only updated through 19 April 2015? Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:08, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
hello again, GoingBatty. Thank you so much for your help. it seems that both references #7 and #8 are the same. but i am having trouble to delete #7. may i know how to delete the reference. ive tried searching it in wikihelp, but theres no specific ways mentioned to delete reference. and i deleted infobox stat because he hasnt join any national team yet. thank you in advance --Athirah Hanapi (talk) 04:39, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

I would like to ask what did i lack while making the page Draft:Abhijeet Andhare — Preceding unsigned comment added by God Rex (talkcontribs) 09:47, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

@God Rex: I moved your comment to the bottom of this page – please review Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Draft:Abhijeet Andhare has no references, while User:God Rex/sandbox has references but no footnotes. The big red box on User:God Rex/sandbox has four links to Wikipedia guidelines to references and footnotes – I hope you will click on each one and read them. Happy editing! (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) GoingBatty (talk) 13:25, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

So can you please help me know what do i do? Now God Rex (talk) 08:21, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

@God Rex: Now that you have read each of the documents linked on User:God Rex/sandbox, I suggest you decide whether you want to work on Draft:Abhijeet Andhare or User:God Rex/sandbox. Read each of the independent reliable sources you found and summarize what each says in your draft. Add the references in the same format you used in User:God Rex/sandbox, but place the tag after the relevant sentence. Then read Template:Cite web and change each reference to use this template. with the author, title, publisher, and date. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:30, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll continue with User:God Rex/sandbox and i guess there's issues with reference? Can you be more specific about references? Can I use YouTube vidoes with much higher reach? Please answer this last question. Thank you! God Rex (talk) 08:36, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

@God Rex: On User:God Rex/sandbox and User talk:God Rex, there's a gray box that states "The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Please cite your sources using footnotes. For instructions on how to do this, please see Referencing for beginners." Please click on each of the four links in these sentences and read each document so you will understand how to move and format your references. Using YouTube videos for references depends on the publisher of the videos – please read Wikipedia:Video links. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:17, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks

Checking Draft: Abdullahi Dauda Belel

Please, sir help me in reviewing this draft. No any one respond to the draft. Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 23:23, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: The yellow template on Draft:Abdullahi Dauda Belel states "Review waiting, please be patient. This may take 6 weeks or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 2,243 pending submissions waiting for review." While you're patiently waiting, I suggest you make sure everything either has a reliable source or is removed. Most of the statements in the "Early life and education" section are unreferenced. In the "Later life and career" section, the first paragraph could be changed from one long run-on sentence to multiple sentences. References #3 and 4 do not seem to mention NSHIP. I don't understand reference #18, and suggest you change it so it links directly to the correct document. There are other typos that you can fix as well. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 03:00, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Okay thank you so much for the correction, I will fix them now Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 07:14, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

@GreenC: Thank you for the list, as it helped me fix a few articles. However, these were not all added today. For example, the Mom link was in Kids' Voice Awards since the article was created in 2008. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 01:15, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
Hopefully things will be sorted out with the next run. I have an idea what to try next if it still happens. -- GreenC 01:34, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
It happened again, but this time it was reproducible with Space Force and Slipknot due to those two naturally having 0 mainspace backlinks - the bug shows up when there are no backlinks such as an API timeout, or like these two. I was able to track down a bug in an external library function (local var incorrectly defined as global), it makes sense given what happened. -- GreenC 16:44, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

I was editing the page for the original professional Wrestling Championship because I noticed some omissions. It was my first edit, so I made a lot of mistakes and what should have taken me 20 minutes took me 2 days. I made a lot of edits to fix mistakes for I was only copying the format used by other editors. Anyway, thank you for clearing up some of those mistakes (mainly the fact I couldn't make some articles headers after I made a new one). Very much appreciated. James George Bryan (talk) 19:11, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

@James George Bryan: I presume you're referring to the World Heavyweight Wrestling Championship (original version) article. I made some additional edits today. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 23:46, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

I've now identified six IP editors who have been bulk-removing the piped parts of links, as in List of Bollywood films of 2011, landing us with the familiar "This article currently links to a large number of disambiguation pages (or back to itself)" template. Now that I've seen what's going on, I've started reverting rather than repairing. If you find any others, ping me; I'd like to catch an active one with a view to a WP:BLOCK request at WP:ANI. Narky Blert (talk) 12:26, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

@Narky Blert: Thanks for the heads up. GoingBatty (talk) 00:14, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
A bit more digging, and I found a seventh - who was active. WP:ANI#IP editors breaking links in Indian film-related lists will be good precedent if this timesink reappears. Narky Blert (talk) 06:40, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

AFD Shamsher Singh (journalist)

Hello GoingBatty! I wanted your help in my article which was nominated for deletion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Shamsher_Singh_(journalist Please help me as I dont want my article to be deleted after all our efforts.SinghPurnima72 (talk) 10:09, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

@SinghPurnima72: I replied at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shamsher Singh (journalist). Thanks for letting me know! GoingBatty (talk) 14:44, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you GoingBatty for your reply at the AFD page. But I really think that the article is notable enough to be on Wikipedia and that′s why Amkgp and Jack Frost reviewed and approved it. Further improvements were also made on the article and I hope that I can convince other editors to keep the article. SinghPurnima72 (talk) 15:48, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
SinghPurnima72, Please note an article getting reviewed and approved does not stops an article to be deleted. Instead its the reliable sources and notability that makes an article eligible to stay here. I can only suggest you to work upon the advice from the AFD discussions by fellow editors in the meantime. ~ Amkgp 💬 16:01, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Incorporated your suggestions into Kim Kraig Thompson proposed wiki entry

Hello,

I have incorporated your suggestions for citations into the wiki page I wrote for Kim Kraig Thompson. Thank you for taking the time to assist me. I am very much enjoying writing and learning the process! I would greatly appreciate it if you would again review my proposed entry for publication. Mopbroomdustpan (talk) 13:55, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

@Mopbroomdustpan: I looked at Draft:Kim Kraig Thompson and see that you added references to the "Education" section. In the "Achievements" section, I hope you will replace "recently" with a year or date. I hope you also can convert the references to full citations – see the links in the box I added to the "References" section a few days ago. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:07, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

July 2, 2020 Good morning, I substituted an actual date for "recently" and I used the refill. Please review my submission to ensure I did it right. thank you! Mopbroomdustpan (talk) 12:29, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

@Mopbroomdustpan: Looks better, but reFill doesn't get everything perfect – References 2, 4, and 15 still need to be updated. When you fix those, you can remove the cleanup bare URLs template. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:09, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

@Mopbroomdustpan: Looks better, but reference #4 is still a bare URL, and the last/first parameters on reference #15 are incorrect. Keep up the good work! GoingBatty (talk) 19:19, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

@Mopbroomdustpan: I see you're continuing to improve it. I updated a lot of the references and fixed some typos. Could you please fix the ambiguous link to recombinant? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 00:31, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

July 4th 2020. :@GoingBatty: I changed the link - recombinant to recombinant DNA. Thank you so much for your help! Please review this article for publication. Mopbroomdustpan (talk) 12:17, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

@Mopbroomdustpan: Using ping is redundant on a user's own talk page, and doesn't work when you don't add your signature in the same edit. For more information, see Template:Reply to. GoingBatty (talk) 02:50, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Request on 22:57:55, 26 July 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by Shrutin27

Hello! I am reaching out to you regarding the recent submission I just made titled: MS Palaniappa Mudaliar. He is my great grandfather and has done many accomplishments in his lifetime and I would like to showcase that in an article dedicated to him. This is my first time writing a submission and I have a couple of questions about the concerns you have sent me when my submission did not get approved. I have access to primary sources that are reliable that talked about his impact in Coimbatore, India. However, a lot of these sources are not published on the internet. How do I provide you with access to these primary sources? For example, The Honor, the Rai Sahib, was awarded as a medal. Although his name is not online, we have the actual medal and we can also get written proof of witnesses that can confirm his acquirement of the medal. In the early life section, we got most of this information from an old diary from the mid 1900’s. None of it is published either. How do we make these sources credible for you to approve? We also have information from the daughters and sons of MSP where we can expand on his page about his early life. How do we give you access to that? Please let us know and give us your suggestions! Thank you!!

Shrutin27 (talk) 22:57, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

@Shrutin27: First, please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and please paste the following declaration on User:Shrutin27: Draft:M.S. Palaniappa Mudaliar if you wish to continue with the draft. Sources do not have to be on the Internet (e.g. older newspapers, magazines, journals, books), but they do have to be published - see WP:PUBLISHED and WP:SOURCES. Instead of writing what you know and then trying to find sources, I suggest you gather your independent reliable sources and summarize what they say. Happy editing! @KevinBehr: If you haven't done so already, please read WP:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and WP:AUTO. I suggest you use the references in the References to create more footnotes in the Personal life and TV appearances sections. THEFRISKY link generates a 404 error. I'll let someone who can read German determine which of the references are independent reliable sources, and whether there are enough to meet the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Hello brother have u looked the page again ? I request you to visit the draft Sukhpal Sukh and kindly move it to main space. It would be great and appreciated. Thanks and regards VirdiOnline (talk) 15:54, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

@VirdiOnline: I have looked at the draft again. Now that you have provided many references, I will let a more experienced editor review the references and determine whether your draft should be moved to mainspace. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:08, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Betty Brother you are a well experienced admin of wiki yourself, the way you find out Minor mistakes as well as major mistakes, shows your experience in proof reading and editing. So my humble request to you to move this article to main space as i know that you are satisfied with this article now. Thank you and regards VirdiOnline (talk) 13:28, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

@VirdiOnline: Thank you for your kind words. I am not a Wikipedia admin. While I have experience proofreading and finding minor mistakes, I discovered that I am not a good judge of determining whether a draft meets Wikipedia's notability criteria. Therefore, I am focusing my Wikipedia efforts on what I do well, and will let other editors review the drafts. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:33, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

Brother if u have power to move any article to drafts then i think you must have power to move that article to main space, as i know editors keeps their eyes on whole wikipedia, so if they found any issue in article then they will move it into draft again. Till then my request to you that use your power and move it into main space. If possible then please do it. Thanks and regards VirdiOnline (talk) 15:29, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

Brother now waiting time for review is showing 2 months, that's too much long time brother... This article is already in draft since 4 months, and i don't know any senior admin or editors to whom i can contact for speedy review. So brother i request you to move this article to main space or please refer any senior editor so that to fulfill my wish. I know you are satisfied with all additions made towards article as all work was done under your suggestions. So please take a deep look in this matter. It will be really appreciated from core of my heart. Thanks and regards VirdiOnline (talk) 14:29, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

@VirdiOnline: It's been 1 1/2 months since you resubmitted the draft on June 15. As it says on the top of your draft, "please be patient. This may take 2 months or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 3,119 pending submissions waiting for review." GoingBatty (talk) 22:52, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Feedback

Could you kindly take a look on this article and provide your feedback. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sanjib_Kumar_Karmee Thanks! Kdis98 (talk) 04:31, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

@Kdis98: I spent a lot of time updating the references on Draft:Sanjib Kumar Karmee. There still seem to be more references written by Karmee than about Karmee. When you resubmit it for review, I will step aside and let another editor review it. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 14:02, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments and help in improving the draft. From your comments, I feel that more independent references are required. I will try to search. Kdis98 (talk) 16:18, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

For how long can I keep the article in draft form? I hope it won't be deleted by someone. Kdis98 (talk) 16:23, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

@Kdis98: Per Wikipedia:Drafts#Deletion of old drafts, "Drafts that have not been edited in six months may be deleted". That should be plenty of time to find more references. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:25, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Do you have time to take a look on this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sanjib_Kumar_Karmee Please provide your feedback. Thanks!Kdis98 (talk) 05:54, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

@Kdis98: I'm pleased to see that you have added more references. You can use the |language= parameter in cite web when the reference is not in English. Also, your sentence "Especially, on both sides..." could be split into two sentences for easier readability. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 22:28, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Added reference

Hi I have added a reference to the draft { Ref no.4 } https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mudasir_Zafar New Article covers a sifnificant coverage and not just passing mentions.Need Feedback..Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.248.69.206 (talk) 14:28, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

I have updated the references. Instead of an "Upcoming projects" section, I suggest you have a "Career" section where you discuss both My Friends Dulhania and Nobel Peace. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 23:30, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Career Section added instead of Upcoming projects.I have added some more information about his past projects like Tu lage Jaan se pyara and Tension mat le yaar which I was able to find online. Please let me know if that detail is alright to add. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.209.168.159 (talk) 09:22, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

I edited your draft a bit. You wrote "Zafar also has been a part of the projects like Tu lage Jaan se pyara[8] & Tension mat le yaar." I suggest you specify what these "projects" are (e.g. films, short films, TV series) and that you remove the word "like". Italics may also be appropriate - see WP:Italics. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:19, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi I have specified these as feature films but I am not able to find any other references for that information rather than what google is providing. Is it ok to add that information on that basis or should I edit it out and Can I resubmit the draft now for the review? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.189.23.147 (talk) 07:20, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

I suggest you add the best reliable published sources you can find as references. Remember that film titles should be italicized. You may resubmit the draft when you are confident that the references you provided "show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject" (per the big gray box on the top of Draft:Mudasir Zafar). I also suggest that you log in to Wikipedia before editing and resubmitting. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:47, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Draft - Atif Afzal (music composer)

Hi @GoingBatty:, I have added a reference on my page in the draft space - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Atif_Afzal_(music_composer). You have worked on my page in the past and was wondering if you could review the newly added reference and see if the page can be improved further in any way. Thank you. AAComposer (talk) 23:05, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

@AAComposer: Could you provide more details about the award nominations? Song titles should be in quotation marks (not italicized). You can use the |agency= field for PTI and TNN (like you do for IANS). Your links to The Statesman should link to The Statesman instead. I suggest you use a single date format (DMY or MDY) throughout the draft. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:37, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Unreferenced Section

Good afternoon! You helped me when I posted in the Teahouse with this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Caregiver_Alliance and the remaining issue was lack of references in the History section. I believe I have fixed the problem with sufficient references. Can all the notices be removed? Thanks, Ihaveadreamagain 14:38, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

@Ihaveadreamagain: I believe the History section could use a few more references - see my recent edit. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 22:32, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Marking those for me was very helpful. I removed the one that clearly is not on the web and found a good reference for the other one. I believe I have rectified the issue. Cheers! Ihaveadreamagain 17:14, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
Good evening. Do you think the issue has been fixed and the template notice can be removed? There are many sources added from news and government sources and not one are from the organization's website. Ihaveadreamagain 20:25, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
@Ihaveadreamagain: There are many more references in the article now than when the notability tag was added 10 years ago. I don't object to you removing the tag. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:41, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello GoingBatty - any news on acception/approving Adrian R. Lewis wiki page denied back on 23 May. It has been revised and I believe it is ready for the main Wikipedia finds. Thank you. Roccie ;) 00:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roccie (talkcontribs)

@Roccie: I was leaving Draft:Adrian Richard Lewis for another reviewer to consider. I don't agree with the recent changes made by DGG. GoingBatty (talk) 01:19, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi GoingBatty, would it have your approval with standardized External Links? Roccie ;) 01:26, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Roccie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roccie (talkcontribs)

@Roccie: The External links on your last version seemed excessive. Plus, last time I looked, there seemed to be more references written by Lewis than written about Lewis. However, I won't be re-reviewing it. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) GoingBatty (talk) 02:06, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for pinging me. Actually, :@Roccie: I don't agree with my edits either: I accidentally left off the lede paragraph . I have now restored it. As for the external links, see Wikipedia:External links -- appropriate external links would be to his CV, or possibly to one particularly important address or talk he gave, and one link to his principal social media site. The ones in this version would be good ones to start with. There's no need to link to material already included in the main article. An appropriate addition to the article would be some basic bio data such as birthplace, parents, and highschool, if you can find a reliable third party source for it. As far as I see, the named professorship and the books show he meets WP:PROF, so I am going to accept it. DGG ( talk ) 02:43, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
@DGG: It appears that your edits also removed the infobox, added the text "[2][3][4][5]" in the lead, and duplicated categories. GoingBatty (talk) 16:20, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
my carelessness. I sometimes work too fast. I will fix it tomorrow. Thanks for tellig me--please do tell me all my mistakes, or I'll never know. DGG ( talk ) 05:53, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
fixed infobox and categories. The reference numbers fix required a reorganization. it might have been bettee before the reorg, so if you want, move it back. DGG ( talk ) 16:32, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi @GoingBatty: As per your suggestions, I have added the details on my page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Atif_Afzal_(music_composer). Could you please take a look and add information from the supplied sources or improve it further from your end. Highly appreciated. Thank you. AAComposer (talk) 22:03, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

@AAComposer: Reference #10 doesn't seem to mention The Alternative. Also, I suggest you change the dates so they are all in DMY format or all in MDY format. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 22:43, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
@GoingBatty: Thanks again for your suggestions and reviewing the page. Your continuous guidance has really helped me refine the page. I have added an appropriate link for 'The Alternative' and have changed the dates in the MDY format. If you feel that the page is currently complete and all your review points have been addressed, could you please move the page from the draft to the live space. Thank you AAComposer (talk) 21:27, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I just resubmitted the article on Civilised Bank, though I am a bit confused. Your feedback in June asked me to remove all external links, which I did. Then today, when resubmitting, I got a warning saying my article has no external links and therefore is unlikely to be accepted! Both stances cannot be simultaneously true! Please explain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lighteater (talkcontribs) 12:48, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

@Lighteater: Sorry for the confusion. When I stated "Please remove all external links from the draft per WP:External links" in Draft:Allica Bank, I meant the links in the body of the article such as "Civilised Investments Limited". I did not mean that you should also remove references. WP:External links states "these external-link guidelines do not apply to citations to reliable sources within the body of the article."
I'm glad you've readded the references. I hope you will fix the references that have incorrect authors, and ensure each reference has a |website= or |publisher= parameter. GoingBatty (talk) 21:32, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you very much! I've done a lot with the article recently. I've added author and / or website information in to all the citations and I'm continuing to improve the quality of those, too. It's now in the queue, awaiting approval. Thanks again for your guidance.Lighteater (talk) 14:48, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

No review response

Hello GoingBatty. Hope you are doing good. So it's touching almost 9 weeks since I have submitted the draft for a review. Can u please have a look. I tried adding tags for a speedy review also but this message is popping up. ( Please check the draft page title. It doesn't seem to be in draft namespace ) ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mudasir_Zafar) (FilmIndia2020 12:15, 24 September 2020 (UTC)).

@FilmIndia2020: - I have made some more minor copyedits to Draft:Mudasir Zafar for you. As I stated in July, I will leave it to other reviewers to determine whether these references establish notability. Remember the yellow box on top of your draft states "Review waiting, please be patient. This may take 2 months or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 3,591 pending submissions waiting for review." I already added the WikiProject tags manually on Draft talk:Mudasir Zafar back in August. Are there any more you think should be added? Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:56, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for the edit. (FilmIndia2020 17:20, 24 September 2020 (UTC)).

@Acafix2: Creating a new article is one of the hardest things you can attempt to do in Wikipedia. Each of the messages at the top of the article contains links to Wikipedia policies and guidelines that can help you with your article. I also recommend reading Help:Your first article#Gathering references.
I also suggest you read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 18:26, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

Mohammad bahrani

thanks for correcting my mistakes. I am new here and don't know why they hadn't accept the page Mohammad bahrani I've created. can you help me? نارا دلجو (talk) 17:17, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

@نارا دلجو: Welcome to Wikipedia! I see that Draft:Mohammad Bahrani was submitted 57 days ago. However, the message at the top of your draft states "Review waiting, please be patient. This may take 3 months or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 3,790 pending submissions waiting for review."
I'm only speculating, but part of the reason that it hasn't been reviewed yet is that so many of your references are in Persian. While you're waiting, you could update the references to ensure each has a |work= or |publisher= parameter, |trans-title= and |language= for those not in English, and |date= where appropriate. See Template:Cite web for more information. Reference #7 has a date of "May 24, 1397", and reference #23 has a date of "November 1, 1385" - these should be corrected.
"Internal Links" is not normally a section. It's OK to have a "See also" section for links to related articles that are not in the body of your draft. See WP:SEEALSO for more guidance.
The titles of movies, TV series, and plays should be italicized, but the names of people and characters should not be italicized. See WP:ITALICS for more guidance.
Is his first name spelled "Mohamad" or "Mohammad"? Please make it consistent throughout your draft. Also, he should be referred to as "Bahrani" instead of his first name. See WP:SURNAME for more guidance.
I have tagged four ambiguous links for you to fix.
I added two WikiProjects to the Draft talk:Mohammad Bahrani in the hopes of getting more attention to your draft. Please feel free to expand the WikiProjects or add any more that are relevant.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Apixelhouse/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Draft:Spike T. Smith (Drummer)

 – Combined separate sections about the same topic

Hi, you recently left me a comment on my draft I am trying to get verified about drummer Spike T Smith.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Spike_T._Smith_(Drummer)

You have said Comment: Please move the references so they follow the sentences they support - see Help:Footnotes. GoingBatty (talk) 21:14, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

I am very sorry I don't know what you mean regarding this — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthewzilch (talkcontribs) 16:54, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

@Matthewzilch: You have all the references at the top of your draft, so the [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] come before the first sentence - this is incorrect. Instead, look at Morrissey#Childhood: 1959–1976, where each reference comes after a sentence (or portion of a sentence). See the guidance at Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/2. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) GoingBatty (talk) 03:10, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, I have made the changes and hopefully now it should be right. Thank you for your help Matthewzilch (talk) 14:46, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

@Matthewzilch: Nice job! I made some minor copyediting changes for you. I suggest you add references if you have more. Also, I suggest you fix the existing references: #1 & #2 should not use both |page= and |pages=, and the |last1= parameter seems incorrect for #3, #4, #5. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 00:41, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you again for the advice, I have amended the page numbers error. Hopefully this is all correct now. I do have another magazine reference that i will update in the draft also. Matthewzilch (talk) 13:18, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

@Matthewzilch: Please keep the conversation in this section instead of starting a new section for each post. I see you have fixed references #1 & #2, but |last1=Terrorizer, |last1=Rhythm, & |last1=Wonka Vision don't seem to be correct. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 06:17, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

I'm sorry I can't see what is wrong with the other references? They are for 3 magazine articles about Spike. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthewzilch (talkcontribs) 21:06, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

@Matthewzilch: Template:Cite news#Authors says that |last1= is used for the "Surname of a single author". I'm presuming there are not people whose last name are "Terrorizer", "Rhythm", and "Wonka Vision". Please follow the instructions at Template:Cite news to populate the parameters appropriately.
If you wish to respond, don't start a new section - just edit this section and add your new comment at the bottom. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 22:47, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, I think I have now done it correctly. Matthewzilch (talk) 09:25, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

I don't think this person is notable. Please update and fix it, or it risks being deleted. Bearian (talk) 17:10, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

@Bearian: I will not be updating this article. My only edit to it was to expand the notability tag. Feel free to update it or start the AfD process. Thanks, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:44, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Here's another BLP of very questionable notability. Please ping me (or template me) if you want to nominate it. Bearian (talk) 17:24, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

@Bearian: I also will not be updating this article. Again, my only edit to it was to expand the notability tag. I made dozens of similar edits on the same day. Feel free to update it or start the AfD process. Thanks, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:48, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello, GoingBatty,

I don't really understand what is going on with this page. It was deleted yesterday and then you recreated it, including putting a CSD tag on the article so that it would be deleted. If you thought it should be deleted, why did you recreate it? I don't even know how you got the content considering that the page had been deleted. Liz Read! Talk! 20:33, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

@Liz: Very strange! I think the issue is that I opened several articles in WPCleaner to disambiguate the New York link, and then got distracted. The article must have been deleted after I opened the article, and then was recreated when I saved the edit. @NicoV: Is there any setting we can use to prevent this from happening in the future? WPCleaner will warn if there's an edit conflict, but didn't seem to warn in this case. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:39, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@GoingBatty:. Strange indeed, I've to check with MW API if there's a settings preventing this. I thought that basetimestamp parameter would be sufficient (see mw:API:Edit). Maybe the recreate parameter but given its description I would have thought that not having would be enough (I understand the description as you have to set it to true to allow recreating a deleted page). I'll open a discussion on the API. --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 21:25, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Discussion on API:Edit. --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 21:30, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@NicoV: Thank you! (You might want to sign that post.) GoingBatty (talk) 21:33, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
I'm not sure I understand the explanation because I know if I have a page opened for editing and try to save an edit to what is now a deleted page, I'll get a notice that the page has been deleted. But I believe things happened as you say they did. I won't delete this article right now in case anyone has any questions about the edit history. Another admin might delete it but, to be honest, patrolling at CSD categories has been kind of slow recently. I just found a page that had been CSD tagged TEN days ago that still hadn't been deleted. Liz Read! Talk! 02:31, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
@Liz: Do you receive a notice that the page has been deleted while using WPCleaner, or only when using Wikipedia in your browser? Feel free to delete the article whenever you want. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 17:34, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
@GoingBatty and Liz: I think it's a problem with WPCleaner. I got an answer on API:Edit, I think it's because I'm only using basetimestamp which prevents edit conflicts, but not starttimestamp and it's this one that checks if the article was deleted in between... --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 22:28, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks and correction of Navid Shams article

Hello, dear colleague, thank you for making Hamid Shams's article. Thank you. If you also make his brother's article, thank you. Mr. Navid Shams is very famous in the field of table tennis and is a player of the national team of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Ali mohamadi22 (talk) 18:42, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

@Ali mohamadi22: Done, even though it's nominated for speedy deletion. If you have additional references to add to both articles, I suggest you do so. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 18:53, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

@J. M.: You may be interested in the two articles the user mentioned: Navid Shams and Hamid Shams. GoingBatty (talk) 21:31, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
The articles were created by this single-purpose user, who keeps defending them under multiple single-purpose accounts and IP addresses to evade the blocks, deleting the speedy deletion templates, posting the same messages to various talk pages, and lying about it. Multiple wikipedians said the articles were promotional and should be deleted. The user should not be advised to work on the articles, the user should be blocked indefinitely, which is what SQL said on their talk page. The articles should be either deleted, or at the very least protected so that they have a fair chance of being considered for deletion, without the spammer constantly interfering with the process.—J. Hello. One of your edits popped up on my watchlist today, as I'd recently fixed another error in the same article. It looks as if we are doing similar work in a neglected area of Wikipedia and I wondered if we could help each other out. I've not done much for the last week or two but I've made a few notes at User:Certes/misdirected links, and its talk page may also be of interest. I'm currently working through a few long lists of SIA, and links to works of art (broadly construed) which might have telltale italics or quotes, e.g. Avatar should often link to Avatar (2009 film). Certes (talk) 12:08, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

@Certes: I just fixed the Avatar link in List of highest-grossing films in Japan, List of highest-grossing films in China, Transmedia storytelling, Checco Zalone, & Gennaro Nunziante. There are some links on your page I work on almost every day (e.g. Apple, Billboard, Slate, Time). Another area is plurals that have their own article (e.g. Peanuts is an article about the comic strip, whereas peanuts usually be changed to peanuts). Most of my changes are in my AWB settings, and I run them when I'm in the mood or stumble across them. Guess I should share my list in my userspace too.
Another regular at the related WikiProject Disambiguation has been feeding me with ideas, and I wonder who else is helping out regularly. I'd say there's scope for some material in WP: space if not an entire wikiproject. Plurals can certainly be fruitful. Most ambiguous sports teams are plurals, and my arts search is finding a few, but there will be errors in other areas. Perhaps we should have a list of articles such as Peanuts which should only be linked in title case and get a bot to check for lower case links regularly. Certes (talk) 13:13, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
@Certes: GreenC set up a program that sends me an email every time someone links to peanuts and a bunch of other common incorrect links - see my list at User:GoingBatty/Backlinks. GoingBatty (talk) 05:03, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
That's great to know – I can stop checking that list now! I'd assumed that someone must be looking after obvious link magnets like apple and billboard, which rarely show errors. As shown by its recent RM, it can be awkward when the primary topic isn't what comes first to many people's minds. There are a few similar companies such as Adobe Inc. and Caterpillar Inc. on my own list, though Argos and Boots now lead to dabs. You have a few dabs or redirects to dabs such as clerks, which others will monitor, but having them on your list too can only help. (The main problem in that area is Clark, which is usually Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone, Clark Air Base or Clark (musician).) Certes (talk) 11:48, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
@Certes: Thank you - I moved clerks and Heroes to one of my lists of dabs that I monitor: User:GoingBatty/WPCleaner. GoingBatty (talk) 16:36, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
What do you think C should really link to in Foreign relations of Samoa#International organization participation? GoingBatty (talk) 07:33, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
There are lots of candidates but Commonwealth of Nations is probably the most notable. Certes (talk) 12:56, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
@Certes: It's not so easy taking a bunch of WP:AWB find & replace rules and formatting them as a table, but feel free to check out User:GoingBatty/misdirected links. Enjoy! GoingBatty (talk) 02:47, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Current trends may be worth a look. If you're accepting nominations for User:GoingBatty/Backlinks, I'll nominate The Crown. Certes (talk) 14:35, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

@Certes:  Done! GoingBatty (talk) 17:38, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
@Certes: I just fixed a bunch of avatar links that should link to avatar (computing), but there might be more to find. GoingBatty (talk) 17:23, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Good spot. I think I got all the Avatar film links but I missed the computing ones. I've left a few such as Forbidden Siren 2 which seem to refer to sense 2: neither Hindu nor computing. This error is interesting and suggests an anti-pattern to look for: Foo (bar). I'm not sure how we'd find cases in practice: we'd need a dump scanner like WP:WikiProject Check Wikipedia/List of errors but it's not always an error. Too many false positives: most cases are like Member of Parliament (MP). Certes (talk) 18:47, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

More lowercase entries for User:GoingBatty/Backlinks: cairnscairns, fordford (crossing)|, guineaguinea (coin)|, hamlethamlet (place)|. I don't know whether it's also worth bothering with rare surnames like barks and sacks. (Thankfully, the worst cases such as burgers are now dabs.) Certes (talk) 23:18, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

@Certes: I fixed the articles with cairns and hamlet (didn't find any for ford and guinea), and added these four to User:GoingBatty/Backlinks. Did not add barks and sacks since these are disambiguation pages. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 00:18, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I've been patrolling them manually, so there shouldn't have been many outstanding cases to fix. Certes (talk) 12:44, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
@Certes: Oops - need to look more closely! These are set index articles not disambiguation pages. GoingBatty (talk) 00:26, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

@Certes: There's also the opposite case: crickets usually should be crickets (which redirects to cricket (insect)). I just fixed an instance in Drosophila suzukii. GoingBatty (talk) 00:31, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Except when it's capitalised. I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt. Certes (talk) 12:44, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
@Certes: Yes, I was only referring to the lowercase wikilinks. I was also referring to the case where the "s" is outside the wikilink, where your example has the "s" inside the wikilink. GoingBatty (talk) 15:13, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) There may be the makings of a wikisubproject here; or even WP:WikiProject Bad links. Certes and I have collaborated on a bad-links-to-surnames project (twice, including the repeat exercise), and I've been feeding him ideas of where uc/lc differences might make for easy sheep/goat WP:PTOPIC separation scenarios. I tend to pick them up when DABfixing, thinking "surely that neighbouring bluelink can't be right?" (I'd thought of Avatar only today, but my quick sampling of the last-page links-in found a few silly people but no silly links.) Narky Blert (talk) 19:27, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

@Narky Blert: If someone decides to create a WikiProject or subproject, please let me know and I'll be happy to help! Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:15, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I think the three of us constitute at least a de facto task force. I'm sure other editors watch for and fix bad links too, but our user talk pages aren't the obvious place for them to seek colleagues. I think we all have plenty of ideas as to how we could find and fix more links given the resources. Certes (talk) 23:07, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Companies based in Fayette County, Pennsylvania requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Liz Read! Page Deletion

Hi,

Thanks for pointing out that I should insert a signature when commenting on a talk page. I wondered if you would be able to follow through on my request on that talk page and schedule the article Tim Mills for deletion. It has multiple issues and, with the removal of unsourced material, is down to its barest bones. Crucially, it doesn't appear to meet Wikipedia's general notability guideline.

Thanks for your help. DillsyOnWiki (talk) 04:25, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Article talk pages

Please let me understand why you'd put a DYK message - of limited interest - before information about relevant projects? I have no time to study the guideline, sorry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:42, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: Wikipedia:Talk page layout#Lead (bannerspace) lists "how the banners of well-structured talk pages are usually ordered", including:
8. Any "article history" ... or "article milestone" (e.g., DYK talk ...) banner ...
9. Any WikiProject banners ...
GoingBatty (talk) 15:59, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
Today is not the day to question that, but I may next year. I can imagine readers who have no idea of Did you know ...? - but would like to see first that it's a BLP, for example, and related to classical music, - instead of the very specific details of DYK, which - not without irony - don't even appear at a glance for articles of higher quality, see BWV 4 for example. DYK is no milestone, imho, just a minor trivial thing about an article. Much more important that it was translated! FA and GA is different. - To make a cosmetic change from one state to the other seems of zero importance, so I will not spend time reverting, but I don't understand, sorry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:30, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

RE your comment on your bot's talk page: Heh, fair enough! :) I've no idea what happened there, I launched the AfD using Twinkle, and it should have notified the creator (actually, the person who replaced the earlier redir with an article, but I don't know if it can make that distinction) but instead pinged you.
