Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello, Capewearer

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username MrClog and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Selim Nurmuradov, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MrClog}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

@MrClog: hello, please check the edit history on that one: I moved an unsourced BLP to draft, and the original editor came back and pasted the unsourced BLP right back over the redirect before it could be speedied db-r2. Easy to miss though. I've just reverted it back to the redirect. Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 12:36, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Capewearer, I did figure out that that happened, but couldn't find any appropriate CSD. Didn't think of turning it into a redirect and then asking for a speedy deletion. Thanks, MrClog (talk) 12:38, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What's your beef on the Christopher Layne page?

[edit]
pal what's up with the poppycock over there? Why are you removing huge chucks of the page without any real reason?112.199.181.130 (talk) 11:56, 6 April 2020 (UTC) The Christopher Layne page is bibliography with well sourced external links.[reply]

This is example of REAL linkfarm:

Coronavirus

[edit]

Hello Capewearer. You sent me a message on my talk page informing about changes to COVID-19 article. When I was changing some info about cases deaths and recoveries I removed some info telling you what you must not do and when changing US cases I removed something underneath it. Is there a possible way to change cases without removing those stuff when changing case deaths or recoveries? Hi poland (talk) 15:12, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hi poland, in this edit, the right way to change it would be to change the number "402355" to a newer, higher value in the first row, change "12932" to a higher value in the second, and so on. The other fields are for overseas territories of the United States like Puerto Rico, Guam, etc. They're negative numbers, so they'll automatically be subtracted from the positive total. Don't delete any of the {{, | or }} characters. If you want to update only the aggregate numbers at the left, that's fine, and someone else can update the territorial numbers.
Please make sure to use numbers from one of the sources already cited in the template, as they've been agreed upon by discussion. If you want to use a new source, then just start a discussion on the template talk page. Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 15:27, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Handbook of Covid-19

[edit]

Hello Capewearer. I just now saw on your page that you are interested in Covid-19. I started Handbook_of_COVID-19_Prevention_and_Treatment and feel it was hastily deleted, especially after I added several good (global) sources; search "With the addition of five references". Template:2019–20 coronavirus pandemic data

Disruptive, unwarranted edits to my talk page will be deleted. The numbers are already updated here: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ which is as good as source as the one in the template. In fact, it's the source used in the UK coronavirus page. --Spaastm (talk) 16:58, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Capewearer, thank you for fixing the references on the 2020 coronavirus pandemic data/Iowa medical cases by county template. After pulling 99 of those references is tiring and apparently I didn't select the full column from my spreadsheet when creating that table. I added that missing reference back. I was going cross-eyed when working on that template. Thanks again. — Mr Xaero ☎️ 22:13, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

COVID 19 In New York Counties

[edit]

Hi, User:Capewearer could you please refrain from adding more articles into the 2020 coronavirus pandemic in New York (state) by county page, since the deletion of that category page is currently up for discussion, I do not want people to find these articles about specific counties until the threat of their deletion is over, thanks. Frontier Place (talk) 19:40, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Category:2020 coronavirus pandemic in New York (state) by county is not being discussed for deletion, nor is its parent category. The county articles also aren't listed for deletion, but for merge which would include a redirect from their current titles. If you don't want one or more articles to be in the main article space, then we can move them to draft space for now, apart from the ones that are listed in the merge discussion. But removing a category, so that related articles can't be considered in the context of the current merge discussion, is not the best way to keep the discussion open and transparent. Suggestion

[edit]

Hello,

I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST INPUT SOME MORE INFORMATION ON covid-19 page. The data about how many people are confirmed and how many have died in each country doesn't give much information if there is not population number and also include % once there is much more death in USA but also there is much more case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.119.131.212 (talk) 13:53, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, why do you want them to be deleted? Capewearer (talk) 13:52, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, because these pages are already declined. Selingunus (talk) 23:02, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand. How will deleting them help? Capewearer (talk) 10:54, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:2020 in Iranian television requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Hi ! I changed the number of the deaths of covid-19 because worldometers indiked that 1 deaths ; [[1]] Thanks Sincerely Sam Salfa (talk) 22:01, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What ? 23 confirmed case ???? I can't understand this ??? Thanks . Sam Salfa (talk) 22:08, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In aditional please read this [[2]] Sam Salfa (talk) 22:18, 30 May 2020 (UTC) UTC)[reply]

Hi Sam Salfa, in the MINURSO reference [3], it says:

The three recently confirmed cases in Dakhla remain under medical care, while the 6 previous cases in Dakhla and Boujdour have all since recovered. The lone death from Covid-19 in Tindouf Governorate has been officially confirmed as one of the 14 previously reported cases and not a separate case as we reported on 27 and 28 May. All 13 remaining cases have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

From that I read 3 active cases in Dakhla, 6 recovered in Dakhla and Boujdour, 13 recovered in Tindouf, plus one death in Tindouf.
So 3+6+13+1 equals 23 confirmed cases total, 6 active, 1 dead, 6 recovered. Capewearer (talk) 22:22, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ! Thanks for answering , oh no Tindouf appartient à Algeria ???? Sam Salfa (talk) 22:38, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Aha... OK, sorry, I see my mistake now with Tindouf. So decoding that badly-written MINURSO report, it's actually saying that in Western Sahara there are 3 active cases in Dakhla, 6 recovered in Dakhla and Boujdour, and zero dead.
That means 9 confirmed cases total, comprising 3 active, 6 recovered, 0 dead. Do you agree? Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 22:54, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, yes I agree thank you very much !!
but in the website worldmeters.info/coronavirus/Western Sahara he affiched that :
9 coronavirus cases
1 death ???
6 recovered
2 active cases
This is his mistake 1 death? Sam Salfa (talk) 12:23, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I think you're right, Worldometers is probably mistaken. There was a long discussion about Worldometers at Template:COVID-19 pandemic data, because its numbers were different so often from reliable sources, and in the end they put up a banner comment telling editors not to use Worldometers as a source. Capewearer (talk) 12:41, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. There would be 277,945 deaths (276,332 + 1,613)? Gabriel bier (talk) 19:30, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's not in the source cited: please see WP:VERIFY. Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 20:37, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I know. I just didn't understand the reason why the number of cases from the previous day did not match today's data. Gabriel bier (talk) 21:31, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes there's an ongoing discussion about that at the article's talk page, and you're welcome to join in. Capewearer (talk) 21:52, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I was unaware of the discussion about it. I appreciate the invitation. I am part of the wiki in Portuguese and edit a few times in this version. I'm not familiar with the policies here, so I don't feel safe to give an opinion ... and my English is not strong (Google Translate) hehehehe. Gabriel bier (talk) 16:12, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Preprints

[edit]

Please don't add preprints as sources. They are not reliable sources. --RexxS (talk) 21:21, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@RexxS: I think you may have mistaken me for another editor: where did I add preprints as sources? Capewearer (talk) 22:31, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think I'm mistaken. You added preprint sources from MedRxiv to COVID-19 pandemic in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India. I know you were just trying to retrieve orphaned references, but you have to take responsibility for all of your edits. Those sources had no business being used in those articles, and the correct thing to have done was to remove the named references (and unsourced content if necessary), not re-add unreliable sources that were removed for good reason. Hope that makes sense to you now. --RexxS (talk) 22:48, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It would be even simpler if you used the preview button when you remove named references. :-) Capewearer (talk) 22:55, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It would, but I was working through 40+ articles and when I removed the ref from the first few, it hadn't occurred to me that the preprints had been spammed multiple times. I started checking further after I realised you were putting them back as fast as I was removing them. --RexxS (talk) 23:09, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe slow down a bit then? Take a break? :-) Capewearer (talk) 23:17, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Liam Mulhall

[edit]

I am liam Mulhall and I have been a semi professional rugby league player and now I am/was coaching in the USARL in 2020 but due to COVID-19 I am not and I was supposed to have a interview with the local newspaper in Wilmington but due to COVID-19 I can’t so I can’t add anything about this! Mulman82 (talk) 07:35, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Liam. Please don't take it personally: the consensus among editors on notability reached quite a while back was that Wikipedia won't have separate articles on semi-pro athletes, unless there's something else particularly notable about them (such as a professional record in another sport, or significant coverage of them in a national press, etc.). So I don't think an interview in a local newspaper would change this. The teams you've played meet the guidelines, but not most of the players current and past. There's more information about the guidelines for articles on sportspeople at Wikipedia:Notability (sports). Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 08:02, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An athlete is presumed to be notable if the person has actively participated in a major amateur or professional competition or won a significant honor, as listed on this page, and so is likely to have received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject.

Based on this I qualify!

I played for Western Reds we played in the Sydney competition. I was contracted as a professional and got paid to play. Which is higher than a major amateur competition.

I played for the Ipswich Jets and trailed for the south Sydney Rabbitohs in 2001 when I was 20. I can email you my letter from south Sydney. I have played at a high level but at 20 left to join the military Served 4 years then wanted to continue my passion and try and make NRL. I trained with Qld cup and played A grade for norths Devils Then left to play semi professionally in USA I didn’t not work as I was paid then I left to play for the western reds. Now I’m coaching I see other Wikipedia pages about people who aren’t professional But played a semi professional sport that have pages so I honestly don’t get it. Mulman82 (talk) 03:38, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please also read WP:Autobiography - it's really not a good idea to write an article about yourself.
Can you point to any WP:Reliable sources online or in print that confirm you played in a professional match? Thanks. Capewearer (talk) 03:51, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Conway

Please review this page then!

Calls himself a professional rugby league player but NEVER played a Professional game so can you please fix this page as well. Mulman82 (talk) 03:57, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If he's never played in a pro match then on his sports record alone he wouldn't meet notability guidelines, however he has had national media coverage in reliable sources for his work as a model. If you disagree then you could always take that article to WP:Articles for deletion, but I'm pretty sure it would be kept following discussion. Capewearer (talk) 04:05, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

https://www.afr.com/companies/financial-services/veterans-bitter-battle-to-win-insurance-claim-for-injuries-20190930-p52w6g

Well this would meet notability guidelines if added to the wiki page? Mulman82 (talk) 04:15, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's a reliable source, but the article is unfortunately paywalled, so non-subscribers like me can only see up to the words "...Iraq and Timor, also attacked insurers' efforts to...". What does it say? Capewearer (talk) 04:26, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Injuries I sustained in the military lead to me getting medically retired from my job and how veterans aren’t looked after post discharge when trying to access TPD payouts it’s was a big national case. Mulman82 (talk) 04:36, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well this is too complicated for a simple proposed deletion. The right thing to do is to take this to an WP:AFD, so I'll do that now.
I haven't read the AFR article yet, so I couldn't say whether the coverage of your medical retirement is in-depth enough to meet WP:Notability (people), so let's let some other editors weigh in on it. Capewearer (talk) 04:44, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An athlete is presumed to be notable if the person has actively participated in a major amateur or professional competition or won a significant honor, as listed on this page, and so is likely to have received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject.

So below is what an amateur athlete is

The very broad definition of an amateur athlete is someone who competes in sports for personal satisfaction and not for monetary gain.

Below is what a semi professional athlete is

Semi-professionals are not amateur because they receive regular payment from their team (company), but at a much lower rate than a full-time professional athlete.

Below is what the competition which is HIGHER than (An athlete is presumed to be notable if the person has actively participated in a major amateur competition)

The United States national rugby league team, previously known as the Tomahawks, now the Hawks, has participated with some regularity in international competition since 1987. In 1998 the country's first domestic competition, the American National Rugby League (AMNRL), was launched. A semi-professional league, it is predominantly based in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. The national team and the AMNRL are affiliated to the Rugby League International Federation, the sport's world governing body.[2] In 2011 a new domestic competition, the USA Rugby League, was announced.

So given all the information I have supplied I believe that the article I have wrote falls in the notability section!!!

You've explained here how a semi-pro athlete can be notable, but what's needed is evidence in the article, from a reliable source, to WP:Verify that the subject of the article (not just their team) has played in at least one professional or otherwise significant match. Please go ahead and add that evidence, because it hasn't yet been found online. If you need help adding an offline source like a newspaper clipping, I'm happy to help. You can also make your case for notability at the deletion discussion, WP:Articles for deletion/Liam Mulhall. Deletion discussions usually last about a week. Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 04:59, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have taken a picture of the rugby league review from 2008 September for evidence how do I add this please Mulman82 (talk) 07:42, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Great, then if you can get access to a scanner, scan the photo, save it to a file, and upload that file using the guide at Help:Introduction to images with Wiki Markup. If you want a hand with any of that, then please give me a shout. Capewearer (talk) 07:45, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What do I do once I have uploaded it? Mulman82 (talk) 07:56, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Once you've uploaded it to Commons, it will be visible from Wikipedia, and you can link it in the article. Capewearer (talk) 08:03, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I've just added those to a new section in the article. It's a bit difficult to work what's in the photos though, as the scans so far don't include dates or match description: which of those matches pictured (or the Bulls lineup that includes your name in one press clipping) was a professional match, or notable amateur match? Capewearer (talk) 08:22, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was a semi professional game in grand final for AMNRL (American National rugby League competition)

What happens now? Mulman82 (talk) 08:37, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a notable match, though AMNRL isn't included in WP:RLN. I'll mention it over at WP:Articles for deletion/Liam Mulhall. You're also welcome to post to that discussion of course. Capewearer (talk) 08:43, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know AMNRL isn’t in the WP:RLN but it was the only semi professional rugby league competition in the USA. Back in 1908 the south Sydney Rabbitohs won the Grand Final In the NSWRL. And back then Rugby League was a Amateur sport and only became professional in the late 80/90s when players no longer had to work and play rugby league which would of made it semi professional. So my point is it is a notable game and a notable competition Mulman82 (talk) 02:41, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Barbados

[edit]

I am a bit concerned how to consider gisbarbados.gov.bb not to be a reliable source for covid cases? could you please enplane why you felt you know better that the official government source. Do you know better? in which so could you quote that source please.Simuliid talk 20:15, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You didn't update the old reference from gisbarbados.gov.bb when you updated the number. You've also been leaving old Facebook references in place when you updated other countries in that template, apparently believing that it wasn't necessary to update the reference yourself. But we have to WP:Verify everything we write on Wikipedia, especially on a high-visibility template like Template:COVID-19 pandemic data. I see you now have updated the reference along with the updated figure [4]: thank you. Capewearer (talk) 20:22, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Point taken. So why did you not correct the reference? you reverted the figure to one that you knew was incorrect, that was a childish thing the do. Please be nice. If I see something that is wrong on Wikipedia I correct it. I only use undo when thing are very clearly wrong - unusually vandalism. Undoing people's good faith reversions will only cause annoyance, and put people off editing Wikipedia, the last thing we need, especially just now. Please be nice to other users in future Simuliid talk 06:56, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As always on this template, I started by finding the references myself for the changes you made, and corrected them with a comment in the edit summary. Then, after a few of these, I started to revert with your username in the edit summary, again hoping you'd take note of the pings in your message box. Since that didn't change your edits, I left a single polite notice on your talk page. All of that is both correct procedure and friendly. Please read the edit notices posted prominently at the top of the template: they are too important to ignore. Thank you. Capewearer (talk) 07:15, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

I believe the article is valid and notable based on the information below.

Other players and personalities in the game are notable if they meet WP:GNG.

Reliable" means that sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media, and in any language.

Rugby League Review is a international rugby league paper which is distributed in more than 20+ countries. So I believe that’s a reliable source.

"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.

Rugby League Review is a international rugby league paper which is distributed in more than 20+ countries. So I believe that’s Significant!

"Sources"[2] should be secondary sources, as those provide the most objective evidence of notability. There is no fixed number of sources required since sources vary in quality and depth of coverage, but multiple sources are generally expected.[3] Sources do not have to be available online or written in English. Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability. "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject or someone affiliated with it. For example, advertising, press releases, autobiographies, and the subject's website are not considered independent.[4]

Could you please remove the deletion of the article. Mulman82 (talk) 02:32, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, the right place to make the case for notability is at WP:Articles for deletion/Liam Mulhall. Deletion discussions usually run for about a week, and as noted at the top of the article, the deletion template mustn't be removed from the article until the deletion discussion has ended. Thanks, Capewearer (talk) 04:17, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
