Image for Dwivedi

Hi Safe Charmer, I believe Feynman used to call himself by this very name. Hoping that there can be some help/suggestion from you. I have been working on this draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Divya_Dwivedi that I didn't create but the topic has something to do with the stuff I used to work on in the very early days of Wiki. I was wondering if there could be a way to bring up a subject image. There is a lot of images that I see are repeated of the subject across websites which probably means its free. Especially this one repeats [1] [2]. Any suggestion in this matter will be great. Cheers!

@WWorringer: "Probably means it is free" is not good enough. Please read Wikipedia:Copyrights#Image_guidelines. You would need to be able to justify fair use, but you wouldn't be able to because the subject of the photo is alive and you could take your own photo. See WP:NFC#UUI. @Curb Safe Charmer: On my search nothing turned up that was meeting the criteria. So image free instead of free image, this goes i guess. And thank you for the Ikebana on that draft. Guten abend! WWorringer (talk) 05:34, 16 August 2019 (UTC)WWorringer

Hi, I am new to Wiki editing and I was just wondering 2 things. 1) How I will know when the page Bik Kwoon Tye is officially accepted/reviewed? 2) When is it ok to move pages from Draft to Main Page? I moved Bik Kwoon Tye to the Main Page but if this is not the right thing to do at this time, I can move it back to a draft!

Thank you! Microglia145 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Microglia145 (talkcontribs) 16:50, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Jaime White Wikipedia Page

Hello,

My article submission was not accepted and was deleted because it included copyrighted content. I'm apart of a collegiate basketball team at Fresno State trying to build our head coach a page. All the information that was used was public knowledge and used on the school's website. I am working with our marketing/media communications team to get some form of copyright license. In the mean time; the article i submitted is no longer in my sandbox/editing section. I need that information back as i need to get this project completed and will be submitting it for review again once i have the appropriate copyright waivers. I do not have time to restart this process. Please place the article back into my sandbox/editing source so i can continue to work on it.

Thank you,

D'shara — Preceding unsigned comment added by DsharaStrange (talkcontribs) 23:09, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

@DsharaStrange: I am not sure why you 'need to get this project completed'? Is creating the article part of your academic studies?Wikipedia doesn't have articles about every subject. Instead, there are inclusion criteria that must be met. The criteria that would apply to your coach are at WP:NCOLLATH. What is it about your coach that makes him worthy of an encyclopedia article? Why isn't it enough that people can read about him on the school's website? If other independent, reliable publications havent already written in depth about your coach then he won't qualify for an article about him here. Regarding copyright, Wikipedia doesn't allow any material to be added to Wikipedia that has come from a copyrighted source. You can apply for a copy of your draft to be emailed to you by applying at WP:REFUND. Please don't add back any material that you've copied from somewhere else, unless you're certain that material has been published under a compatible licencing scheme (see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials). Request for review

Hello Safe Charmer,

I think that the draft Divya Dwivedi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Divya_Dwivedi meets notability criteria sufficiently as there is substantial coverage in reliable sources such Libération, Mediapart, The Hindu, UNESCO, and The Indian Express. Some of the subjects who have written on Divya Dwivedi are eminent practitioners of their field which is shown by their wiki pages such Jean-Luc Nancy, Robert Bernasconi, Barbara Cassin and Tridip Suhrud. Would you please consider reviewing this page? Thanks! Speculative Boting (talk) 15:40, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

Jersey Contributor

I see you listed as a Jersey contributor. L have been working on Jersey articles for some time, even before I visited in June 2018. I created Edward Campbell (politician) and Marie Ozanne. I assessed every unrated article, and I updated many articles so they point to Jersey.

This note to ask you if you could occasionally give me some advice. For example, I have more description and the coordinates of Le Moulin de Bas, aka La Rue du Moulin de Bas, Grouville. Should I create a new article, or should I add details to Windmills in Jersey?--Dthomsen8 (talk) 23:13, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

Oh, now I see you are a Jersey resident! Sorry I missed that.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 23:26, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your contributions to articles about Jersey. Unless the material you have about Le Moulin de Bas is sufficient that you believe it is a notable subject worthy of its own article, I think you should add to the existing article instead. If there is sufficient once you've done so, you could consider a spin-off article. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:58, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I will update the existing article, and then look for details for another mill still standing.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 23:13, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Guersey and Jersey People

Guersey and Jersey People people lists should be limited to registered editors. Too many names added incorrectly by unregistered users. What do you think?--Dthomsen8 (talk) 16:59, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

@Dthomsen8: List of people from Jersey is already semi-protected preventing IP users from editing it. List of people from Guernsey could have the same if there's persistent disruptive editing by IP users. The protection level could be higher if logged in users are also causing problems. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 21:18, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
Most problems have been from IP users. I will watch the Guernsey list.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 01:01, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

Backlog

Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Coordinator

A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.

This month's refresher course

Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.

Deletion tags

Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.

Paid editing

Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
  • Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
  • Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
Not English
  • A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
Tools

Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.

Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.

Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.

DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

Science/Outreach

Dear Sir,

Thanks for this message.

I am new to WIKI and I am sorry that I have submitted an article that doesn't qualify WIKI. But can I ask you if you are from a science/academic background? This subject visited my university a while ago and has done some beautiful work by assembling world's leaders and I thought one can have a page for him. The people he collaborated with include Noam Chomsky, Sir Roger Penrose, Sir Martin Rees, Daniel Dennett, A. C. Grayling, Nicholas Humphrey, Gregory Chaitin, Gerard 't Hooft, Ian Stewart, Barry Mazur, Stephen Wolfram, Paul Davies, Tyler Burge, Doron Swade, Julian Barbour, Newton Da Costa, Francisco Antonio Doria, Reuben Hersh, Nicholas Maxwell and others.

BTW there are many pages without any external links for instance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Aspects_of_Life

Can you address this for me?

Many thanks in advance, Milli. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Milli2019 (talkcontribs) 08:29, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

A brownie for you!

For pitching in on Category:AfC pending submissions by age/Very old. -- Worldbruce (talk) 16:15, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
@Worldbruce: Thanks. Historically, I've mainly reviewed likely 'quick fail' drafts as they're so much quicker and I can fit them in around my work. My circumstances allow me to tackle some of the harder ones now and I am feeling more confident in doing so. The backlog, particularly of the oldest drafts, is bad and it will take a concerted effort from all of us to get it down to where it should be. I'll see how I get on! Thanks for the encouragment. Review query Sunday Show Tunes

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

Thank you for your message in July informing me that my article had been moved from my sandbox to drafts. Please can you give me an update on when the article is likely to be reviewed and published? This is my first article and I don’t know if I need to do anything else in order for the article to be reviewed.

Hi: Thanks for reviewing my article. The Grant County Beat obituary was taken from information that I gave to the editor there. She made some minor changes, but basically used what I gave her. When I started my article, I started with that same information. So, if it was copyrighted by anyone, I think it would have been me. Cherie SalmonCherieSalmon (talk) 20:49, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

So, if I have the editor of the Grant County Beat put the following statement:

The text of this page is released under the Creative Commons Zero Waiver 1.0 (CC0).

at the top of the page that has the obituary, that will suffice?CherieSalmon (talk) 21:06, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

Article Not Accepted about Artesia (Digital Instruments)

Hello. I hope you are well. I wanted to discuss the reasoning behind the Artesia article being declined. Yes, I am close to this matter specifically, but the article is written in a neutral, fact stating way. Artesia brand pianos and instruments are sold in over 50 countries around the world, so there is a relevance to this article. In addition to that, Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) Magazine is a long standing publication that highlights all aspects of the music industry hardware and software. MMR is a published, reliable, secondary source that is completely independent. Aside from that, the reference #2 from PianoReport.com is a published expert comparison that does not speak highly of the Artesia brand, and labels it in the article as a "brand to avoid". This article was drafted as an unbiased statement of facts about the Artesia brand of instruments. Can you please point me in the right direction as to how to get this brand's page published properly?

A tag has been placed on Category:Insurance in Africa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. New Page Review newsletter November 2019

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.

Getting the queue to 0

There are now 804 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.

Coordinator

Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.

This month's refresher course

Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.

Tools
  • It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
  • It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
Reviewer Feedback

Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.

Second set of eyes
  • Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
  • Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
Arbitration Committee

The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.

Community Wish list

There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Request on 18:56:23, 1 November 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Frumious Bander

After spending days writing an article about the Masonic Library and Museum of Indiana and waiting months for it to be approved by editors, you've now deleted the entire draft of it forcing me to start from scratch. I have no idea what "copyrighted material" you are referring to, and now have no way of even determining that at this point. Photos? Wording? Descriptions of key museum items? Lack of citing? What? This is a disgraceful way to summarily dismiss careful work. Is there no way I can retrieve this draft now instead of starting all over again and waiting months once again?

ArbCom 2019 election voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Trannguyent (talk) 18:31, 20 November 2019 (UTC) Feedback on rejected draft

Dear Curb Safe Charmer,

My draft entry Draft:Jennifer_Provencher was rejected recently. I hope you can pinpoint me to where I should focus my efforts to increase the chances of it being accepted next time. Your feedback was related to significant coverage and source reliability, and you guided me to WP:ACADEMIC. Should I focus on finding more reliable sources/references for the content I wrote, add substantially more content, or elaborate on the present content? Please let me know.

Thank you for any help and take care. Trannguyent (talk) 18:31, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

@Trannguyent: Being a biologist isn't that unusual a career. There are lots of campaigners in the world about plastics affecting marine wildlife. A fair number of people have earned PhDs. People who have those sort of achievements will often take public speaking engagements and chair conferences. None of those things make a person worthy of an encyclopedia article about them.
The draft starts to get interesting in the "significant contributions" and "awards and recognition" sections. However these, in common with most of the rest of the draft, are sparcely sourced. Wikipedia readers cannot tell if what is written is factual unless they can trace the statements back to reliable sources elsewhere which back them up. Every claim you make about her awards needs to be backed up with a source. Anything you can't back up with a source should be removed.
In the 'media and outreach' section, what we're interested in is what other publications have written about Provencher, not what Provencher has written about the subjects she's an expert on. If other publications haven't already written in depth about her, Wikipedia isn't the place to publicise her work. See WP:NBIO. You either need to show that others have written in depth about her, or demonstrate how she meets the WP:NACADEMIC criteria. Which of those apply to her?

Request on 10:07:31, 25 November 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by DGulamovic

DGulamovic (talk) 10:07, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the update on COI. ICC is an encyclopedia page. It was patterned after Ottawa Curling Club. The page will conform to Wiki rules I promise. I need time to find sources and more contributors. Thanks for helping me. I;m as novice at this.

Assessment Unqualified: Rejection of article 'Den Nordsjællandske Kystlivredningstjeneste (DNK)' is wrong in all points (!).

Hi Curb Safe, For starters pls. go to this page and tell me what you see? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City_Fire_Department

Now this is exactly what DNK is too: A public emergency rescue service - only here on water. And likewise DNK is public, it's state run and owned - and it's NON COMMERCIAL. Are you with us here, please?

So: DNK is a state owned operation jointly run by the state of Denmark (sorting under the Ministry of Justice) and the three municipalities that are practically running the service on the ground on the 24 beaches currently serviced: Halsnæs Kommune, Gribskov Kommune and Helsingør Kommune.

Now do you actually read and understand enough Danish language in order to fully comprehend, that the links provided in the two references are DEFACTO public webpages of two of the public municipalities behind this - again - public, state owned emergency rescue service. These public institutions do not propagate businesses or advertise for commercial interests or anything just remotely like that on the municipality web sites - or anywhere else - among other reasons because by nature it's god damn illegal for the politicians and officials (i.e. me) of the municipalities to even think about it. Are you with us this far here too, please?

Therefore and just like the New York Fire Dept this is obviously highly relevant information for the public about a public - pls. read: free of charge state financed - emergency rescue service provided by the state and the three municipalities. Again: Relevant also here on Wiki because it's an important public institution, it's a public state emergency operation sorting under the portfolio of the Ministry of Justice, it's historic, and we - the DNK - save lives.

So now, what can we do for you here in the absence of additional contemporary digital info on this operation that started back in 1935? That's right: effing 1935! And it's possible for sure, that there was news going around back then, that this new public rescue-thing started. But it's nothing special anymore by far. It's as natural and taken for granted just like the army or - yes - fire dept. It's simply a long time part of the welfare state here and has been so for 84 yrs. now. We have lots of press though. But that is all stories on what we do, actual rescue operations and public warnings etc. Hence to our knowledge there is no obvious way of documenting the organizational nature of the DNK by the use of (other) contemporary third party references apart from the info on the municipalities’ own public webpages (provided).

Will it for instance help you w. links to some pretty longhaired budget information (.pdf) of the yearly political fiscal budget decisions by the municipalities where you in between thousands of other posts can also find the budgetary posts of the public expense of running a public Surf Lifeguard Rescue Service of DNK in the three municipalities of Nordsjælland/DENMARK (although we certainly feel some doubt here that this will possibly prove fruitful, having already experienced your apparent poor knowledge of Danish language and public institutions judging from that first inadequate and seemingly habitual and robot-like standard rejection you've just presented us with here, not getting anything right at all. Not that this kept you from assuming a LOT none the less; like 'advertising' and 'financial stake'! What a downright insult and just bloody ignorant and arrogant. Sorry to say but this absolutely deserves mentioning).

Looking forward to hearing from you soon hopefully with an adequate comprehensive feedback that reflects a full understanding of the issues at hand w. respect also to the lingual challenges, please.

Thank you Best Regards Steen Donsby, journalist (DJ) and press officer of DNK Nordkysten (talk) 23:38, 26 November 2019 (UTC)

@Nordkysten: Hello Steen and welcome to Wikipedia. While you are here, please Wikipedia:assume good faith about other editors. Wikipedia:Civility is one of the five pillars of Wikipedia. We are all volunteers here. As you have disclosed that you are the press officer of DNK you must comply with the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest requirements. I don't know whether press officer is a paid position - if it is you need to comply with the WP:PAID editing requirements which are part of the terms and conditions of editing here.
Wikipedia doesn't have articles about every subject. The Wikipedia community has by consensus developed a set of criteria for what subjects should have an article about them and which should not. In the case of your organisation, the relevant criteria can be found at WP:ORG. Those criteria cover commercial and non-commercial organisations. As you'll read, no organisation is inherently notable through what it does. I have no doubt that what DNK does is wonderful, but being wonderful is not one of the criteria. Nor is being important. Instead, we look at what other publications have written about the organisation. If no evidence is put forward that multiple, independent, reliable, secondary sources have written in depth about the organisation then we won't include an article about it. The criteria go on to explain what we mean by 'independent', 'reliable', 'secondary source' and 'in depth'. Each element has to be met for a source to count towards assessing the notability of the organisation. In the case of the New York Fire Department, the references show that there have been many articles and numerous books written about it, so it is accepted as a subject for a Wikipedia article.
You will no doubt find articles on Wikipedia that don't meet those criteria. That doesn't mean that we want more articles that don't. It is simply that nobody has spotted a problem article and tagged it for improvement or deletion.
WP:ROUTINE coverage won't help demonstrate notability. Nor will sources that are not independent, such as the organisation's own publicity or reports published by associated organisations.
Each language edition of Wikipedia has its own notability critieria, so why not write an article for the Danish language Wikipedia? I expect it would be more useful and more widely read than here on the English language Wikipedia?

Draft submission for review

Hello Curb Safe Charmer, I am writing to understand how to proceed with my draft as it hasn't been re-reviewed since 28.October when I made my final corrections following your latest instructions. I will be very happy to see my submission approved or if not, to at least get some further directions on how to improve.  Done

Draft:Trang T. Lê  rejected questions.

Hello Curb Safe Charmer, My draft entry Draft:Trang T. Lê (September 30) was rejected. Your feedback was connected to a more encyclopedic form and source reliability.

Can you can please pinpoint me to where I should modify the sources I should omit due to unreliability, and to clarify which verbiage that would not be considered a "formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article" nor a "neutral point of view".

Furthermore, I was wondering what would be the most effective way to have my my 2nd Draft:Trang T. Lê reviewed  after I have made said modifications. Please let me know.

Thank you very much! Namnguyen408 (talk) 21:07, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

@Namnguyen408: examples of phrases that are not in an encyclopedic tone:
  • "left a strong imprint on her soul and continues to inspire her work"
  • "her paintings reflect the process of healing - from heartbreak and scars of a violent past, to peace and tranquility"
  • "Initially, along with a large metropolitan atmosphere that she was foreign to, there was immense culture shock. Although her parents seemed to be working all the time, they still only had low-income; they had to learn to live frugally and to make the best of their opportunities in order to contribute to their new homeland."
  • "Schooling and education played an integral part in her life where she would harness her creativity. "
  • "where she discovered that art was not only her interest, but a necessity for life."
  • "As a survivor of war, she works through her struggles for peace and tranquility through her mark-making."
  • "Lê begins her pieces with an open field of color. Without explanation, the viewer sees that this barren canvas of a singular color is painted with artistic flavor; each mark creating a sense of wonder in what the artist is seeing and feeling."
  • "This proved meticulous and stressful to the artist at the time but also very meditative."
  • "In 2013 Lê made a profound change in her mark-making. As she was experiencing anguish from the deterioration of her marriage, her multiple tightly-bound circle spirals that built the painting were unraveled and traced across the canvas; being liberated and evolving into threads. Lê found this artistic action as soothing, and freeing to the spirit."
  • "Through the process of unwinding circles through her mark makings, the threads traverse the canvas flows and ascends ethereally into the spiritual plane."
  • "the most emotionally challenging years of her life -- her divorce, a period during which she had to face the darker side of people. At this time, she was experiencing trouble to actually get in the studio and paint due to her personal life. Yet, she was able to see beauty and light through art. She also drew inspiration from her role as a mother and being an artist to bring more warmth to her paintings. In her paintings, Lê finds balance between light and dark that suggest artistic maturity and spiritual strengthening. Through painting, Lê pulls together the threads of her own personal journey and creates mediative markings that encourage others to make such a journey."
  • "She has a strong appreciation for being in nature, and has a deep connection to the ocean."
In these statements you're editorialising, rather than sticking to facts that can be verified through reliable sources.
Every statement you make about Lê needs to be capable of being verified. Anything that you've written based on your own knowledge of the subject should be removed. You need to use inline citations to indicate where any extraordinary claims or statement likely to be challenged has been sourced from. Read WP:CITE for how to do this. Reviewer of the Year

This year's Reviewer of the Year is Rosguill. Having gotten the reviewer PERM in August 2018, they have been a regular reviewer of articles and redirects, been an active participant in the NPP community, and has been the driving force for the emerging NPP Source Guide that will help reviewers better evaluate sourcing and notability in many countries for which it has historically been difficult.

Special commendation again goes to Onel5969 who ends the year as one of our most prolific reviewers for the second consecutive year. Thanks also to Boleyn and JTtheOG who have been in the top 5 for the last two years as well.

Several newer editors have done a lot of work with CAPTAIN MEDUSA and DannyS712 (who has also written bots which have patrolled thousands of redirects) being new reviewers since this time last year.

Thanks to them and to everyone reading this who has participated in New Page Patrol this year.

Redirect autopatrol

A recent Request for Comment on creating a new redirect autopatrol pseduo-permission was closed early. New Page Reviewers are now able to nominate editors who have an established track record creating uncontroversial redirects. At the individual discretion of any administrator or after 24 hours and a consensus of at least 3 New Page Reviewers an editor may be added to a list of users whose redirects will be patrolled automatically by DannyS712 bot III.

Source Guide Discussion

Set to launch early in the new year is our first New Page Patrol Source Guide discussion. These discussions are designed to solicit input on sources in places and topic areas that might otherwise be harder for reviewers to evaluate. The hope is that this will allow us to improve the accuracy of our patrols for articles using these sources (and/or give us places to perform a WP:BEFORE prior to nominating for deletion). Please watch the New Page Patrol talk page for more information.

This month's refresher course

While New Page Reviewers are an experienced set of editors, we all benefit from an occasional review. This month consider refreshing yourself on Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features). Also consider how we can take the time for quality in this area. For instance, sources to verify human settlements, which are presumed notable, can often be found in seconds. This lets us avoid the (ugly) 'Needs more refs' tag.

Devasis Chattopadhyay

Hi,

I felt Devasis ( born - Devasis Chattopadhyay) should be cited in Wikipedia. Hence, wrote about him after doing a lot of research about him. His book 'Without Prejudice' is on a subject which is a highly discussed and debated issue through out India on community sanctioned trafficking / Mumbai dance bars. In fact, his book - Without Prejudice is already cited as a reference reading on 'Indian dance bars' page existing in Wikipedia. Devasis' book - Without Prejudice is one of its kind and is critically / favourably reviewed in Indian media. Through my research on the web, I found out that he gets invited to prestigious literary gatherings to talk about his book and related subjects. . During my research, I also found out that he wrote features on the subject of communications and is a public speaker on the subject..

I appeal that the page on Devasis be made in Wikipedia.

So using wikipedia guidelines I will re-submit the edited content for approval. Miliwaves (talk) 15:34, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

@Miliwaves: The reason your draft was deleted was because you had copied content into it from a copyrighted source. This is both a violation of copyright law and a violation of the Wikpedia terms of use. You can try again, creating an article about Devasis written entirely in your own words. Albert Normandin and Heart of a Dragon

Hi There,

I feel that both the Albert Normandin and Heart of a Dragon articles are valid to become Wiki pages. Albert Normandin is a prominent photographer and his page was design in the same vein as other prominent photographers to ensure it had enough content and sources cited. Heart of a Dragon is entirely valid and I do not understand the difference between this and literally millions of other movie pages that are allowed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BowmanEntry (talkcontribs) 14:32, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

@BowmanEntry: Did you read the links within the box that explained why the draft was declined? One of those was a link to WP:NBIO which explains the criteria we use to decide who should have a Wikipedia article about them and who should not. If you didn't read it, please do so and it you'll understand why Draft:Albert Normandin was declined. Your Heart of a Dragon draft was not acceptable because it was mostly copied from a copyrighted source. Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from elsewhere. I have added additional references to the article, Albert Normandin and would like to submit it for re-review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BowmanEntry (talkcontribs) 15:00, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Reference was to BRANSFORD, Jesse, “Power Animal System: The Art of Jason Martin Introduced by Jesse Bransford,” Black Mirror, no. 2, “Elsewhere” (London: Fulgur Press, 2019), pp. 90–105. @Monmouth1946: I see you've fixed that reference glitch now. Great, you're getting the hang of it! I suggest you look at articles that the Roberts article links to, and see if they mention him - if so, you can add a link from there to the new article. If there's no mention of him, it might be appropriate to add a sentence or paragraph mentioning his involvement, and that can link to the new article. Hi Curb Safe Charmer. I saw that you declined Draft:The Jewel of the Nile (1985 film) because an article about the film already exist as The Jewel of the Nile. The same IP has also created Draft:Jewel of the Nile (album) which also already exists as Jewel of the Nile. I think what the IP might be trying to do is WP:MOVE both these articles by adding disambiguation to their titles, but I'm not sure why. Anyway, I don't really do AfC reviews, but I'm pretty sure the second draft needs to be declined since an article about that album already exists. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:07, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

I see what you're trying to do, but you're not going about it the right way. Copying a page loses the page history. See Wikipedia:Requested moves for the better way. But before you do so please discuss at Talk:Jewel of the Nile. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 19:42, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Hello Curb Safe Charmer. I happened to see WP:AN#Drafts duplicating existing articles, and noticed you had declined one of these as an AfC. The IP editor who created the two articles has now been blocked by a checkuser, so it is unlikely that either of these drafts has a future. I am wondering how to close the WP:AN submission by User:Marchjuly, and the two obvious ways would be either (a) make each one be a redirect to the corresponding main space article, or (b) submit both of them at MfD. Do you favor one of these options? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 18:55, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
@EdJohnston: Hi. Its nice to hear from you. I think a third option is to leave the drafts as-is and wait for WP:G13. They just become amongst the many drafts with no future that eventually get cleaned up that way. Maybe that doesn't provide the conclusive close that you're looking for at WP:AN though? Following the same principle of using MfD as a last resort, redirects are cheap so I guess that's the best option? I don't feel strongly either way though. Victor Fredung

Hi,

Thanks for leaving me a message. So, about deleting the page 'Victor Fredung', how is it promotional? Why can Robert Plant have a page but not the person that I created the page about? The page I created didn't exist before, it is informing the people about Victor Fredung, who has done so much for the FinTech community. I don't understand your motive for deleting it.

Kindly elaborate so I may make changes accordingly.

Thanks Battle Cat — Preceding unsigned comment added by B2ttl3cat (talkcontribs) 11:48, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

@B2ttl3cat: As the Victor Fredung article has since been deleted I cannot access it to remind myself of its content. While I nominated it for deletion as being unambiguous advertising or promotion, it was an administrator Justlettersandnumbers who actually deleted it, and they have access to the deleted version so would be in a better position to explain the specific reasons. More generally though, using Wikipedia for advertising or promotion is against the terms and conditions of use of Wikipedia which you agree to when you created or edit an article. There are criteria for which topics should have an article about them and which should not - in this case WP:NBIO. If the article is recreated and written to be non-promotional it may still not pass the notability test and would eventually be deleted. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:55, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
Well, Curb Safe Charmer, I imagine it was stuff like "... a Swedish seasoned Fintech innovator with multiple years of experience in the payment sector ... operating in the FinTech sector to help safeguard business transactions through innovative technological solutions" that caused you to nominate it for deletion; it was certainly what persuaded me that your nomination was correct. The sourcing was both poor and dishonest: the statement "He usually works and collaborates with a remote team working across four countries and dealing clientele that spans over seven continents" (yes, really, seven! – what did you do, count Antarctica twice?) was sourced to this page; what that actually says about him is "Keynote speeches were delivered by [list of names] and Shufti Pro CEO Victor Fredung". B2ttl3cat, were you paid to create this page? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:26, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Article rejection

Hello, and thank you for being one of the individuals, who are making Wikipedia what it is today. I have looked at your profile and was fascinated by the list of achievements there. As you probably could see, I am new to contributing to Wikipedia. As you probably noticed I am more than just versed in the subject, and written enough on art in photography in various media, however Wiki article is quite a different beast altogether. In no way I am aiming to complain or question your judgement (yet I will admit rejection of a well written piece never feels good), but I would really appreciate some help. Based on what I've read about creating Wiki content, the article is compelling, and I indeed seen way less informative pieces.

Therefore I would really appreciate some guidance in what it lacked in your opinion. Probably for seasoned Wiki creator your note would provide enough information to correct it, but I would really appreciate more specific pointers. Once again thank you for the great job you are doing. SilverTherier (talk) 15:27, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

@SilverTherier: thanks for your message. As you'll see we have articles about many genres of photography. Expanding an existing article is the best way to start. If your draft doesn't duplicate an existing subject, and is a well established term then it is likely to be accepted in due course. Wikipedia's WP:verifiability policy is one of its cornerstones. Since Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, readers need a way to verify that anything they read in an article is factual. In your early additions to the encyclopedia, and in your draft, I got the impression that you were writing from your own knowledge. Instead you'll need to write based on what others have already written on the subject in reliable publications such as books, peer reviewed journals or national newspapers. If it isn't already written somewhere else it doesn't belong in Wikipedia. That doesn't mean you should copy and paste material from elsewhere, though. When editors contribute text or images to Wikipedia they licence it for reuse. That's only possible if the material was theirs to licence. So you'll need to summarise what is written elsewhere using your own words, adding citations to identify for the reader where it was sourced from. I will take a look at the draft now and add some tags showing where and how it needs to change. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 15:46, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
@Curb Safe Charmer: Thank you. I indeed write from my own knowledge to a degree - I am professional in the art world, and especially in art photography. The subject in question is an old phenomena, which recently got a completely new significance and role in the media, and this piece means to reflect that. I will look into adding more references to the subject. If there is anything else you may suggest, it will be very helpful. Once again - thnk you very much.

Hi Curb,

I am writing in reference to my draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lerocque. I have already provided citations as footnotes. So, i am unable to figure out what is the exact reason for rejection. Rejected Tally Money page

Hi,

I work for Tally money and we are trying to create a Wikipedia page. How do we go about this without being rejected?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Macklindamon (talkcontribs) 11:13, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

@Macklindamon: There's already good advice on your talk page, but in summary: (1) edit your user page to add a declaration of who you work for - my message to you on your talk page explains how; (2) re-write your draft without copying and pasting any content from existing websites (unless the content has been made available under a compatible licence), in order to avoid breaking copyright law; (3) bear in mind that using Wikipedia for promotional purposes is contrary to the terms of use, so your draft needs to be written neutrally and have references from reliable, independent sources to back up the statements you make in the article; (4) We don't have articles about every company. Read WP:NCORP to understand the criteria for inclusion of articles about companies. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:52, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Rohit Mishra

You have redirected the article Rohit Mishra to Mahatma Gandhi Central University protests cause he is known for a single event. But still there are many people who are noted for one event and still on wikipedia. As you have reviewed the article earlier and article is in stub now. People are contributing to this article. So, you are requested to undo the redirect links as article is still in stub. Hope you will consider my point. Adityarajmba (talk) 03:14, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

[[Draft::YTS]] and YIFY

User:Donranase is using your rejection of this draft at Draft:YTS to justify edit warring content from there into YIFY. I assume you did not intend that they would do that. Can you please have an additional word with them? YTS is one of several copycat websites that have been imitating YIFY since that site's shutdown. We mention this in the legacy section, but we should not promote one over the others. - MrOllie (talk) 15:31, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

@MrOllie: Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I've now left a message for them at Talk:YIFY. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 15:48, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

KlasJet article

Hello, I am very disappointed to see 2 edits being rejected, but I can't understand why. There are no more sources about KlasJet's fleet, but their website. Also information found about them is scarce so there is no way of composing an article without use of informations provided on their site. I am in no way paid to do that, I just want major companies in Lithuania to have their Wiki pages. If it is about services segment I will remove it, as I wasn't sure whether I should add it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EdvinasA (talkcontribs) 21:25, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

@EdvinasA: If you are connected with the company, which you appear to be, then you have a conflict of interest and you must declare it. If no independent, reliable publications have written in depth about the company then it doesn't meet the inclusion criteria. If coverage is scarce then this suggests the subject is not notable, and you should choose another company to write about. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 22:41, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

About reporting me

Hi, I saw that you were just reporting my "other" account. As you see, I was testing some features (see in User:The Lord of Math/lab/Draft review), and also the vandalism templates are supposed to be tried out by me. Please do understand: those are not vandalism. I mean, I may have done something wrong with the timestamp resetting, but please understand me. Thanks. tLoM (The Lord of Math) (Message) (Report false positive) 14:04, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

The reason that my actions seem strange is solely because the person operating it is simply not a "new" user. tLoM (The Lord of Math) (Message) (Report false positive) 14:08, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
Perhaps it is wrong, and I should call it off. Anyway, please do understand that I am honestly testing something. I might have been wrong, but please AGF. tLoM (The Lord of Math) (Message) (Report false positive) 14:10, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
@The Lord of Math: One of the drafts you'd modified, Draft:Trang T. Lê was in my watchlist and I saw a 0 byte modification and went to see what had changed. I saw a new editor who was not the author had changed the timestamp. I look at the new editor's contributions and see a bunch of the same activity. I start to revert the changes. I use Twinkle to leave them a warning. I see that new changes are still being made. I go to report there being current, persistent vandalism. Only after doing so I noticed in their contributions that they'd created a user page. It was at that point that I saw that this was a second account from an established editor, and your Teahouse message. If I had seen that at the start I would have left you a message on your talkpage first, but instead I saw the bizarre edits and thought I should nip it in the bud. I don't think I understand your experiment yet. It would have been good to publicise it on the AfC talk page first. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:20, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. Yeah, I should have asked. But I just never thought that this was disruptive. And by the way, when you sent me the warning I hadn't seen it immediately, and only after I saw it did I see your warning (and CSD). Thanks a lot. BoxHT (talk) 14:24, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Hello @Curb Safe Charmer.

You recently declined my article titled "Goose Fiord Formation." Your rationale for doing such was due to my lackluster citations. I recently added a few, but am novice at doing inline citations, as this was my first article. What would you want me to do to upgrade my article?

Hello , I see you proposed an article I am working on (Eva Magala)for deletion - I have just created it and in the process of populating it then this!! . This thing is less than a minute old — Preceding unsigned comment added by AKibombo (talkcontribs) 12:35, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

@AKibombo: Biographies must have sources, and the one you've written had none. I have simply moved it to Draft:Eva Magala. Please work on it there, and submit it for review when you think it is ready for inclusion in mainspace. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:39, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
And I mentioned that it was less than a minute old and was still being developed even as you swiftly identified it for deletion. I really wish you had considered this before that unfortunate action. I am simply saying that regardless of your reasons, this action and its timing were unnecessary in light of the fact that this was, I keep emphasizing, less than a minute old. AKibombo (talk) 12:57, 6 March 2020 (UTC)AKibombo
@AKibombo: I have moved it back to mainspace. However, I recommend if you are working on a new article you consider doing so in your sandbox and only move it to mainspace once it meets the basic criteria for a new article such as sources. If you do create an article directly in mainspace you can tag it as {{In creation}}. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 13:15, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Invite to discussion

Hi there Curb Safe Charmer, fancy seeing a fellow Channel Islander on here! I notice you have made significant contributions to articles relating to YouTube and YouTubers, and following your recent reply on the Sidemen talk page, I wondered if I might ask if you'd be willing to have your say in a discussion going on about the inclusion of certain channels in the same page's infobox here. Many thanks —Formulaonewiki 16:19, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the input. Having a bit of a headache trying to keep the discussion coherent and on-topic, I hope there are some other contributions but I fear rational discussion is already breaking down. The replies so far come across rather emotional and, in places, juvenile, as can often be the case when contributing and improving articles about YouTubers, many of which are frequently edited by young users unwilling to learn about Wikipedia's rules. While I hope the discussion can be productive, I'm beginning to think just dropping it might save me wasted breath. —Formulaonewiki 20:04, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Question about your WP:UPOL warning of BobBeathard

I have removed BobBeathard from Category:Wikipedia usernames with possible policy issues as I do not see this username as being a blatant violation of the username policy and they appear to be editing in good faith. "Beathard" is a real last name, as evidenced by Bobby Beathard, which I found based on a quick google search. Of course, that is not to say that the user is Bobby Beathard, but just as an illustration of the point. I am curious as to why you flagged this account for review? Am I missing something? --TheSandDoctor Talk 03:27, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

@TheSandDoctor: Hi. Agreed, there's no issue with their editing and certainly no blatant violation. I used Twinkle to add the tag to suggest that they review their decision to edit under their real name. As a new editor they may not have understood the implications of that. When selecting uw-username in Twinkle the following text appears in red: "{{uw-username}} should not be used for blatant username policy violations. Blatant violations should be reported directly to UAA (via Twinkle's ARV tab). {{uw-username}} should only be used in edge cases in order to engage in discussion with the user. (the latter being what I was intending). So I wasn't expecting the tool to also add them to a category monitored by admins. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:48, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Yes, pages tagged with that are added to Category:Wikipedia usernames with possible policy issues, which seems to predominantly contain things that should have been reported at UAA....even an article, JS script, and several user pages, as I discovered when trying to run some analysis on the category and clean up. I am currently reviewing the ones whose talk pages have been edited in 2020, and that is how I found this case. Admins tend to shy away from looking at the category, but it is an "official" administrative backlog category.
While I understand your intent in leaving BobBeathard the template, {{uw-username}} is probably not the best template to leave when just concerned about them using what appears to be their real name as that is not a policy violation or even close to one. That template is for edge cases of the username policy. Perhaps, moving forward, the better alternative in situations like this where there is no violation but a potential real name, would be to leave them a custom talk page note (or develop your own userspace template/page to substitute or email)? --TheSandDoctor Talk 13:28, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

You recently accepted my first article. Thank you for your help and your welcome comments. I have had some negative Wiki experiences with editors that are extremely unhelpful and was wondering whether to continue contributing, but this gave me some confidence to do so. I'm always interested in learning how to get better, but I find the attitude of some editors - delete everything - to be very unhelpful. I'm getting better at citations but the wiki rules are very complex and hard to learn, and newbies need support (like you provided) not negativity and rudeness. Hey! Thanks for getting things going over at 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Jersey, really great that the CI are getting good coverage of this. Also just wanted to ask what to do about the user who keeps adding "This article may not include all the contemporary major responses and measures" to the lead of multiple articles. As far as I can see its unsourced, unencyclopedic and largely redundant as a disclaimer as all the articles have the "This article documents a current pandemic..." notice at the top. I've reverted some of their additions of it, but they've just reinstated them without any justification. —Formulaonewiki 11:16, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Article "Bilal Orfali"

Hello, the article is totally outdated and most of the information is wrong. I suggest using a short biography instead of the the outdated list of publications. I suggest the following: Bilal Orfali, Ph.D. (2009), Yale University, is Sheikh Zayed Chair for Arabic and Islamic Studies and Chairperson of the Department of Arabic and Near Eastern Languages at the American University of Beirut. He previously held the M.S. Sofia Chair in Arabic Studies at the Ohio State University. He specializes in Arabic literature, Sufism, and Qurʾānic Studies. He co-edits al-Abhath Journal, Brill’s series Texts and Studies on the Qur’an, and serves on the board of several journals, book series, and academic projects across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. He is the author and editor of more than twenty books on Arabic Studies. His recent publications include: Light Upon Light (Brill 2019), Insatiable Appetite: Food as Cultural Signifier in the Middle East and Beyond (Brill, 2019), The Anthologist's Art (Brill, 2016), The Book of Noble Character (Brill, 2015), The Comfort of the Mystics (Brill, 2013), Sufism, Black and White (Brill, 2012), In the Shadow of Arabic (Brill, 2011). He has a BS in Mathematics, a BA and MA in Arabic language and literature from the American University of Beirut, and an MPhil and PhD in Arabic Studies from Yale University. @Mhong5: I don't believe you can improve the article, and I don't believe it should be published. From what I can see, the company isn't a subject that should have an encyclopedia about it. Wikipedia isn't a business directory. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:06, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Request on 14:42:30, 6 May 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by Apanuccio2020

Hi, this is in response to your review of the page Advantage Go that I submitted. If possible, could you please expand on what you mean by 'significant coverage published in reliable, secondary sources'? I have included references from Tier 1 insurance publications. Could you please provide some insight as to why these articles are not reliable enough? I have read through the 'Verifiable policy' page, and the 'Reliable source' page, however feel like I still need some explanation.

Apanuccio2020 (talk) 14:42, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

@Apanuccio2020: The issue is not verifiability or reliable sources but notability. See WP:N and WP:NCORP. To establish notability there must be multiple references from independent, reliable, secondary sources that provide in-depth coverage about the subject. In this case, all the references are based on corporate news releases where the company writes about itself. These are primary sources, whereas we need to see that others have written their own analysis of that news rather than just regurgitating it. Currently the article makes no claim to notability. If it had already been created another editor would rapidly nominate it for deletion and it would certainly be deleted. You have declared that you have a conflict of interest and it looks like you're simply trying to get some free advertising here. That is not what Wikipedia is for. So I do not believe this is a notable topic that should have an article about it in an encyclopedia. Please find another subject to write about. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:49, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Help with editing the article Draft: Christopher Rani

Hi Curb Safe Charmer. Thank you for getting back to me with the reviews. I am pretty new here and I am not sure how to go about the articles so that they can get approved. I actually went through a tough time getting the elements in place.

Could you please give me more advise as to how I can get around this hurdle.

Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City (BHTC)

Hi Curb Safe Charmer,

It is an honor to talk to an editor of Wikipedia - the most widely read online encyclopedia in the world which has revolutionized knowledge seeking, learning and education. I read it in Bangladesh almost daily. Thank you for your feedback on my deleted article Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City (BHTC). To address the conflict of interest issue, I neither work for Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City (BHTC) nor do I work for Bangladesh TechnoSity Ltd. I work for Fiber@Home Ltd. as you can see from my e-mail. But I am biased as I do want foreign investors to come to my country to invest here for alleviating poverty and help recover from the Coronavirus Pandemic as it is a health as well as an economic crisis. The image I have used it on my article....does it violate any copyright? Can you point out specific words and sentences that need to be changed or removed to make it neutral please? Can you restore the article so that I can make the changes as per your suggestion for it to be republished please? I also will use more neutral third party references this time. Hi Curb Safe Charmer, I have resubmitted the article draft:House of Buzzaccarini after removing peacocks terms, expanding it and adding additional sources. Please let me know what you think. Many thanks --Italianhouses (talk) 16:50, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City (BHTC)

I have been trying to talk to him on his talk page. I go there and see a message on top saying please leave a message at the bottom of the page. I go to the bottom. But don't see a message box or don't understand how to leave a message there. This is my first article so I am very new to all this.

Naeem Jafar Amit (talk) 18:58, 14 May 2020 (UTC) @Naeem Jafar Amit: either go to his talk page and click "new" at the top which will let you write your message, or go to your talk page, scroll to the bottom where he left a message for you and click "edit" to add a reply. If you do that, make sure he knows you've replied by using typing {{reply|Jimfbleak}} at the start. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 19:37, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

Victor Vodicka

I wrote the article on Victor Vodicka on Academia.edu and also submitted to the National Library of Australia https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-2302171417/view. I, therefore, own the copyright but have made it open use bar for commercial purposes. @Bogong56: Hello. I couldn't find a copyright declaration saying that you were making the article on Academia.edu open? But if there is one and it bars people using it for commercial purposes then that isn't open enough to be compatible with licencing of Wikipedia content. When you copied your article into Wikipedia and hit 'publish' you agreed to Wikipedia's terms and conditions, including licencing: "By publishing changes, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. You agree that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license." Hopefully it is clear now how that isn't compatible with your intentions. Draft:Ak Dans

Greetings Curb Safe Charmer

I appreciate your analysis of the article I submitted. Indeed having gone through it, with fresh eyes, I noticed a lot of the articles were interviews. Not only that, but even the links from the South Sudan news papers seem to be unreachable or dead links.

Much as I feel the article is noteworthy, living in Africa, I have noticed how much of the coverage about entertainers by journalists is almost always an interview unless it has a political hue to it.

I shall park the article now, and try to keep monitoring if there are new citations worth of note.

Stay safe Mlajum (talk) 17:29, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Thank you for your comments and I have added several references from other sources which I hope I have cited correctly?

Regarding;

.<ref>A list of members of the Associations of Teachers in Technical Institutions who taught at Brighton College of Technology 1956-1970 (AMS 6848/24/2/2). Brighton & Hove City Archives www.thekeep.info

This information is not available on line so I put a link in to show where it was physically available if anyone required more details and on reflection, using the WEB template was not correct. How do you suggest that the information is shown?

Regarding direct web addresses; Doctor of Philosophy, London University, 1977.[1] Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts 1975-85.[2] Scout association I requested information from these institutions and I just received a basic email confirming the awards. They advised that the information is not published on line so not quite too sure how to verify the statement in the article.

I also requested article location numbers from St Bride Print History Library but again, information is not published on line so not quite too sure how to verify the statement in the article.

Likewise, for the references to multiple articles in New Dictionary of National Biography and Grove Dictionary of Art. I only gave a link to each publication as opposed to giving a complete list or each one. I assumed that anyone interested would access the main publication and use the search facilities?

Best Wishes and Keep Well Harpysett (Harpysett (talk) 13:15, 22 May 2020 (UTC))

Harpysett (talk) 13:15, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

@Harpysett: Per Wikipedia:Offline sources it is ok to reference books and documents that are in archives. The {{cite book}} template can be used for that. You should provide WP:PAGENUMBERS. Also, you could upload a scanned copy of evidence (but not copyright material) to a free web host and reference that. However if you've written about things that you're struggling to find sources for then you may have strayed into WP:Original research which Wikipedia doesn't accept. Dear Curb Safe Charmer,

Thank you for your comments and I will endeavor to get more detailed locations and references for the non online information but this will have to wait until the Covid lock downs have been eased and the curators have caught up on their backlog.

In the meantime, please can you confirm that all of the new citations I’ve included are acceptable and these, in conjunction with the physical evidence above when included , will make the subject suitably notable for inclusion on Wikipedia?

In addition, would you expect to see a link to each of the published articles in the following two publications, 21 articles in all, or would a link to each site be acceptable and assume that anyone interested would use the sites search function? New Dictionary of National Biography 1998-9. There are fourteen articles written by Hunnisett; additionally, he has revised four further articles. All are about engravers practicing in the 18th and 19th century. [8] Seven contributions to Grove Dictionary of Art © 1991.[9]

Hi Curb Safe Charmer, thank you for your review of my draft article, Draft:GoHealth. I agree with you -- I needed to update the language to ensure it was a non-biased and encyclopedic article. I have reworded and removed content, so I hope you agree with the changes. As a reminder I have a COI with the article, disclosed in each edit summary and my user page. I fully respect and agree to the terms of Wikipedia, which is why I chose the AfC process. Can you please review this article for me again, please?

Kindly and thank you! Melanie F. Mfunderburk (talk) 16:57, 14 May 2020 (UTC) Mfunderburk (talk) 16:57, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

@Mfunderburk: A reviewer will need to read all of the references, which takes a while. You can speed things up by following the instructions in WP:THREE. You can tell me which ones you select here or on the draft's talk page. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 17:02, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
@Curb Safe Charmer: Thank you for your quick response Curb Safe Charmer! Here are the three sources that best meet WP:RS & WP:SIGCOV: 1) https://www.reuters.com/article/gohealth-ma-centerbridge-idUSL2N25F0IR 2) https://www.cnbc.com/2013/11/25/gohealth-begins-obamacare-enrollment-bypassing-healthcaregov.html 3) https://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20141115/ISSUE01/311159984/gohealth-growing-along-with-obamacare After your review, can you let me know what are next steps? In agreement with Wiki's terms, please know I do have a COI (refer to my user page). Thank you again. Hope you and yours are safe and well Mfunderburk (talk) 01:47, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
@Mfunderburk: Thanks for those. The Reuters reference would not count towards notability as it is clearly a corporate statement that has been top and tailed by the news agency. See WP:SECONDARY. The CNBC coverage is good, and the Chicago Business coverage is OK, but those stories that made the headlines are not covered in any depth in the article. You need to work on it being less of a corporate listing and more about the impact that the company has had, so you could draw on the material from CNBC and Chicago Business to expand on that. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:44, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
@Curb Safe Charmer: I see what you mean, I agree with you. I was not at the company during the Reuters publication and was not able to confirm our involvement. I had believed notability & reliability simply due to it being Reuters. Here are the top three then: 1) https://www.cnbc.com/2013/11/25/gohealth-begins-obamacare-enrollment-bypassing-healthcaregov.html 2) https://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20141115/ISSUE01/311159984/gohealth-growing-along-with-obamacare 3) https://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-xpm-2013-08-19-ct-biz-0819-gohealth-20130819-story.html Also, I spent the last three hours editing the article to expand upon the events from the HealthCare.gov roll-out and the role the company played. I believe we now have a solid encyclopedic, notable article worthy for publication. I don't believe it reads like a corporate listing any longer. Please let me know if you agree. Thank you again! Stay safe. Mfunderburk (talk) 02:51, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
@Curb Safe Charmer: Hi Curb Safe Charmer, I hope you are well. I have incorporated all feedback you have provided, updated references and citations where some statements needed clarity, added a relevant WikiProject, and even received live help from editors in the online chat space. I was wondering if you had some time to re-review my article and let me know if it has passed submission? Thank you, Melanie Mfunderburk (talk) 20:00, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
@Mfunderburk: I haven't got time to review it at the moment, but another reviewer will look at it in due course. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 21:28, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

Hi Curb Safe Charmer, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

I have seen many Wikipedia articles which do not have a single reference. You do not consider YouTubers notable on Wikipedia. I have seen an article by YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani that contains very little information, and perhaps does not even seem to be remarkable. The YouTube link is also not considered a source, and I have also seen articles that contain YouTube links - talking about YouTubers. My point is that if they can be put on Wikipedia, why not Amit Bhadana (comedian). I do not have to accuse any member by saying this. I just gave my opinion. I have improved the article please see. If you still do not feel remarkable, please help make it remarkable. And no youtuber has paid me to create an article. forgive me if you felt bad. I hope you understand my feelings. Harborne Hockey Club

I have resubmitted the Harborne Hockey Club page. There is not a lot more I can at the minute. I have used 8 references including the England Hockey website (National governong Body), MIdlands Hockey (Regional governing body) and The club website. I have looked at other hockey clubs in the area and they have not included the same amount of detail. Can you please advise why Harborne Hockey CLub's page has not been accepted?

HarborneHC (talk) 09:58, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

@John at HarborneHC: Hello John. Before you edit further, you need to comply with the conflict of interest disclosure requirements which another editor has left you a note about on your talk page. Regarding Draft:Harborne Hockey Club, Wikipedia isn't a directory. It doesn't have articles about every subject. It isn't a place to get free publicity about your club. It is an encyclopedia, and only includes articles that belong in an encyclopedia. Based on the content of your draft, that doesn't appear to be the case for your draft. You would need to add references that demonstrate that reliable publications that are independent of the club have written in depth about it. Listings on the regional or national association websites aren't considered independent. Neither will routine coverage suffice. Think national newspapers or books on the history of hockey.
There may be other articles that were added to Wikipedia at a time when there was less stringent review of new articles, but that doesn't mean that we should accept more articles that fall short of the WP:ORG criteria. See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 18:45, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Clear COI

MFripps = (Redacted). This is a clear COI and the state shouldn't be reverted back to this.

1. Adding various key companies to the wikipedia, with sourcing 2. Adding the fact that there are internal expert networks, with sourcing 3. Removing a distinction of normal expert networks v tech driven expert networks. This is not a real distinction but instead added by MFripps (Redacted). This is despite the fact that large expert networks have technology (companies that I have no affiliation with) 4. Removing expert network types that don't actually exist. IE calling outsourced developers expert networks. There was no link to any article that outlines this as a concept

Happy to discuss but this page was heavily edited by someone with clear COI. I have simply put correct information and linked this information to independent resources — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jordanshlosberg (talkcontribs) 23:00, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Help me review my draft before I resubmit it for approval

Hi,

The page I submitted for review (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:MBH_Corporation_Plc) was declined due to notability and that it reads more like an advertisement than a wiki entry. I've edited the page and I added some few references too. Please help me review it before I resubmit it for approval.

The references I used include: Financial Times, Bloomberg company profile, Health Business UK magazine, The National AE newspaper, Proactive Investors UK and Live trading news etc. All of which are not press releases and they discuss the subject in detail and not passing mentions.

Let me know what you think, thanks for your time.

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

I accept your guidance and will refrain from editing the Expert Network page further. I will, however, keep monitoring it, and do edit requests if I see incorrect information being added (as instructed by user Creffett on the COI Noticeboard).

draft: Una H. Moehrke

Hello Curb Safe Charmer, you moved Una H. Moehrke to the drafting room because he is "undersourced". If I understand you correctly, the article doesn't have enough itemization? I have now added them. I hope this article is okay now? Please excuse me, but I write for Wiki mostly in German and I'm still learning in the English Wiki. With the help of the ISBN I made good progress. If there is still something to do, let me know? Thanks for your effort.--Artemesia (talk) 18:52, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello Curb Safe Charmer, Please excuse me if I don't know the english customs of Wiki.en that well. I don't understand your remarks. I write mainly in German. The article on Ali Kaaf was written after an interview in the studio of the German Foreign Ministry on the occasion of his scholarship. There is no takeover from the website. The written article is original and was translated by a native speaker. All facts are correct, including the titles of the pictures and names (the only word repetitions on the artist's website). The article was a lot of work. Please help me, what else needs to be done? Thank you. Best regards--Artemesia (talk) 14:26, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

I have now restored the edits which I made to the Catholic People's Party (Austria-Hungary) page but added seven sources appearing in the Hungarian Wikipedia page [1] (from where I took all this information). We would like to upload a shorter and new version again soon and hope this will do. Is there anything else we need to consider or change?
