Captain Sir Mansfield Smith-Cumming (1 April 1859 – 14 June 1923) was the first director of the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), also known as MI6.

There is of course no way I could have known him, he died long before my parents were born. Nevertheless he had a very special influence on my life, and I have chosen to use his name here.

Hoping I am not too presumptuous and that his stern spirit would have a small smile on his face, to observe from wherever he is now my humble efforts in Wikipedia under his name.
