You have declined to block Neutral Ray for BLP violation on Altaf Hussain. However, just a week ago he was blocked for 72 hours for exactly the same edit that he is continually making now -- ie, adding material libellous to a third party (George Galloway) to the article on Altaf Hussain. A second admin declined to remove the block. He has been warned by several admins for his continuing disruptive behaviour on this article. Please look at his editing history, his talk page (including all the removed warnings) and his block log, and then reconsider your response. RolandR 23:09, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Diff for which he was blocked on 9 September: [[1]]. Diff onhis return on 14 September: [2]; edit summary "Reverted to revision 156631901 by Neutral Ray; vandalism". RolandR 23:17, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Based on that, I anticipate that once the show starts airing, there will be reviews and other significant, independent coverage.
- It's probably best if you had a fact-based -- rather than a faith-based -- rationale (see WP:CRYSTAL) or if you had made note of the article's long history, as noted partially above your comments.
If November 1 rolls around and there still hasn't been any coverage, then I think we can move the discussion to AfD.
- So, the hurry to have a source-free -- and probable spam/promotional vehicle -- article is what, exactly? --Calton | Talk 15:19, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Fred. That sounds cool.. just wanted to hear a rational response. I'm in no hurry to get the article up there, its just that after spending so much time learning how to use wikipedia only to have the above user constantly removing the article under a large collection of false accusations was rather disheartening.

Well, it seems that there is little to zero information coming out from editors who are monitoring this article, so I'm now beginning to agree with you that it's time to see if the community wants this BLP. I put a note on the talkpage and if you want, feel free to prod it if there is no responses. Thanks! Shot info 22:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

USRD Inactivity check and news report
Hello, C.Fred. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:
- Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
- There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

Could you...
Due to the indef. block, can you take a look at the long list of SPAs, many from the last few hours? There is also an open RFPP case, and another editor is considering posting this at WP:ANI due to the continued vandalism by open proxies/socks that seemingly pop up every few minutes. IPs involved so far 77.74.198.212 (talk · contribs), 216.40.236.82 (talk · contribs), Foroto11 (talk · contribs), 74.53.104.2 (talk · contribs), 74.220.207.103 (talk · contribs), 208.79.200.172 (talk · contribs) (newest) There is also an open AFD, the 6th, made by a SPA. Thank you for your response. I already had a MySpace but I was curious to know if Wikipedia had an option for blogging. By now I understand that wiki doesn’t have a place to blog but I have learned that wiki is very lenient as to what I put on my User's page. I have been making many contributions to Wiki and I have found a few very entertaining articles that I have had deleted and/or reverted to previous versions. Earlier I had the honor of deleting "Jesus' Dog". I also have been reverting several vandalized sites to previous versions. I am disappointed in how unoriginal the vandals are. It mostly seems they either delete everything or they add some comment as to how the subject of the article is gay. I hope to eventually become an administrator so I can actually block some of these users. I have seen some page that I have used for school research vandalized. --In his service Hodei Dodie 16:47, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

You see curently the Dragon Ball section of Wikipedia is getting an extreme overhaul, however the Dragon Ball articles such as Android Saga haven't been touched by any respectalble users in a loooooooooooooong time and such they are too long, have terrible writing and many other terrible things. Recentally a merge of all those articles back into the four original sagas, The Saiyan, Freeza, Cell and Buu was reached consensus for and such the merged articles are now in progress on my sandbox. The articles will be there until those 4 articles are finished on my sand box. Clear? Also we are avoiding using the anime unless absolutally nessasary (like for movies) when sourcing articles. UF Alumni should be included
If someone attended a University, then they should get included in the Alumni Category. I do not care if they are already under a players category, we need to add them to both! By not including them as regular alumni, it's like your not recognizing that they attended classes at that respective institution. We need to give them academic & athletic recognition. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JerryBusser (talk • contribs) 17:05, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Nede and the sin bin
I'm not from Oz, but even a Yank like me understands the yellow card in rugby. (That's rugby league and not rugby union, right? I'm still trying to figure out the difference.) Thanks for taking care of this matter. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 02:42, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- All the more reason to stick with Aussie rules. No cards, no send-offs, just an appearance before the tribunal. I loved watching the game back in the early days of ESPN, when they were hurting for sports material to fill time. Hard to believe such a time existed. (I'm a Southerner, too, so the "y-word" doesn't come easily either.) - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'll have to check out the broadband option. Yeah, I remember the trench coats and fedoras, too. Don't know why they did away with them, they were very distinctive. Any sport where you score by kicking a behind is pretty cool. I'm old enough to remember Bruce Doull, "The Flying Doormat," on patrol for the Blues. I even saw the game with North where the guy ripped off Bruce's old headband, and Bruce laid him out.
- We get some CFL here. When I was a P.A. announcer for a local high school team, I occasionally announced when a kick went into the end zone, "If we were in Canada, that would be a rouge for a single point, but we're not." Finally some guy I knew turned toward my press box and yelled, "Take off, you hoser!"
- Good on 'ya, Cats!! - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:05, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah yes, the "hot clock." The school I was with was a small Christian school that played 8-man football, and I was the ECO as well as the announcer. When our school and some others formed a new conference along with some similar schools in Tennessee, they made me the secretary, which meant that I wrote much of the by-laws and competition rules. After seeing too many 64-0 blowouts in my time, I made sure that a 40-point margin automatically started a hot clock, and a 55-point margin ended the game outright. The latter rule was adapted from 8-man play out west, where a 45-point margin ends the game (no hot clock rule). Now I cover hogh school sports for The Birmingham News, and I wish that some 11-man games had a mercy rule. :-) - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:21, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Tim Sylvia's Page
I was the one who reverted Tim's page to previous edits and I get banned for it and labled as someone who vandalizes, what the hell is this? I can agree with the point one person made that putting his website info about his autograph may be seen as advertisement so I will not dispute that but the rest of the edit was quite apt and seems to be general consensus. Cyrus777 03:59, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see any edits by you on the Tim Sylvia article. Unless you weren't logged in, in which case, you were re-adding promotional and non-NPOV material. —C.Fred (talk) 04:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
You just responded on my page with "you were vandalizing". Says who? Unless you give me a good reason to keep that information out I will add it back again minus his webpage to avoid any possible advertisement. Cyrus777 04:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
67.191.197.135
I saw that you removed the request for blocking. I am concerned about the issue mainly becasue the user has made a handful of edits over the last couple weeks, none of which were of any benefit to the community. Is the only way to deal with sophmoric behavior from anonymous IP's to keep reverting? RobHoitt 03:57, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- The problem with blocking IPs is that they may be dynamic IPs, so by the time we block an address for an old edit, another person has been assigned the address. Thus, an innocent person may get punished while the perpetrator is free to act again. That's why IPs are only blocked when the vandalism is fresh or there's a long-term pattern of it. Also, you can run a WHOIS on the address and see to whom it's registered. If a school address is showing frequent vandalism, then it's fair to assume that it's a public lab where students are unsupervised, so multiple edits will lead to a {{schoolblock}}. —C.Fred (talk) 04:01, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm... That's too bad... As the only contributions from that IP have not been beneficial... I wish more could be done to remedy the problem. RobHoitt 04:05, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

User:Jcollard should not been blocked to begin with.
There was an edit-conflict when you blocked him. If you look over the timeline of events, it's clear that Gscshoyru was being over-zealous from the get-go with Jcollard when the latter never spammed to begin with. He made one POV-fork, which was replaced with a redirect and so he rewrote his original edits. This mess could have been avoided if someone had bothered to welcomed Jcollard with some friendly advice about our policies and guidelines instead of a flood of warnings and a block on your part. Controversy on Richard Dawkins
Hi Fred,
There is no good reason why the Controversy section I added to the Richard Dawkins article should not remain on the article. It's well written and provides two high quality references.
However, Ornis and some others are obsessed with preventing any criticism from appearing on the article (as you can see by how positive it is, despite the controversial subject). Is there something you can do about this?
Thanks for your time, --RucasHost 17:13, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

CptHowdy.
I noticed that you banned this user just a short time ago. I've been making a case against User:Laughing Joker concerning this individual and others, and have contacted the user who has already opened the case against Joker so that the additional evidence concerning this matter might be utilized.
Several editors have been working cooperatively to change the exact same paragraph numerous times on Mary (mother of Jesus). I disagree with the changes, as they are unnecessary and unsupported. A look at the edit history of the page shows numerous instances where edits occurred consecutively, and at least one instance where the edits of one user were adjusted in response to my reason for reversion of another user's changes. It seems that this user is simply cycling through his/her various usernames while editing this page, for whatever reason. This user, as I presume, is the indefinitely banned Laughing Joker. A quick look at various edit histories shows this user's persistence on three subjects:
- Laughing Joker: Intelligent design, Creationism, Mary (mother of Jesus)
- Joker828: Creationism, Mary (mother of Jesus)
- CptHowdy: Intelligent design, Creationism, Mary (mother of Jesus)
- JokersWild1: Intelligent design, Mary (mother of Jesus)
- 97.82.225.246: Creationism, Mary (mother of Jesus)
Thanks for taking a look at this.--C.Logan 02:28, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Chuck Panozzo
Hi C.Fred -- got your message about my "inappropriate" edit to the Chuck Panozzo item. How was that spam? I interviewed Chuck for a story I wrote for the newspaper here. The audio was turned into an audio podcast, and the most interesting portions were used in a blog item. I think it added valuable information to his entry.
Please contact me at spears22@yahoo.com for more explanation. (By the way, I'm also a high school football official here in Florida.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.186.95.103 (talk) 18:14, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have restored the link to Chuck Panozzo, due to facts and circumstances for that particular article. However, the wholesale addition of links to a website--as was done over a number of musicians' articles on 4 September--is generally indicative of spam. That's why the warning was given. —C.Fred (talk) 21:43, 15 October 2007 (UTC) as posted at User talk:72.186.95.103
Controversy on Richard Dawkins
Wikipedia articles are based unbiased facts, therefore the section on the antisemitism has to remain in the article. This does not suggest that Richard Dawkins is an antisemite, it merely informs the reader of what has occurs and leaves it up to them to make a personal judgment. Many profiles of people on wikipedia have a controversy section and Richard Dawkins is no different as much as you may or may not like him. You do not provide a sufficient reason for removing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marfan8 (talk • contribs) 04:44, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Hiya!
I'm just writing because i went down I-75 a couple years ago, and heading back from Evansville/Louisville/Cincinatti, i saw that I-75 had a sign at the side listing Toronto and Montreal as control cities "Via ON-401", well in advance of Toledo and Detroit. I think this may be the Ohio Department of Transportation's way of guiding people in a quick manner between Ohio and points north/east, such as Toronto (particularly with the huge traffic bottleneck that is the Ambassador Bridge. I've re-added that to the control cities list, but with a note. I'd like to hear your reply. RingtailedFox • Talk • Stalk 18:39, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

The user who you removed from AIV just now is a rather persistent vandal, who seems to have something against user:The JPS, see his talk... so it's my personal opinion, since it's obvious who he is, that he should be blocked on sight, but that's just my opinion. Just so you know. Gscshoyru 23:27, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yep. He looked like he had gone quiet, and about the time I delisted him, he struck again. Two more anon IPs have shown up; I've blocked both of those without giving a warning. Fool me once... —C.Fred (talk) 23:31, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think he may have been waiting for the warning, that's what set him off. The guy is a nuisance, I wish we could range-block him but it looks like we can't, as his range is too large. Pity. Gscshoyru 23:39, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah. Hopefully he just has the one target, and protecting that talk page will make him disappear. —C.Fred (talk) 23:40, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- He has one... usual target. But... he migrates when he's bored. Check my talk page and say Riana's, as well as other vandal-fighters' for ip's starting with 91.108. He's really, really persistent and obnoxious. Gscshoyru 23:43, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Heinz2007 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
The checkuser who responded to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Heinz2007 determined that a check couldn't be performed to determine whether Heinz2007 has been using User-multi error: "BtownGroupie" is not a valid project or language code (help). as an abusive sockpuppet to engage in additional inappropriate page recreations, because "The Heinz2007 account has already been noted as a disruptive account that is behaving in a manner that merits a block, so block him accordingly" [4]. Declining to block Heinz2007 because he hasn't engaged in any inappropriate page creations on that account after being warned sort of leaves us with a catch-22: the checkuser request can't be performed because Heinz2007 "merits a block" without checkuser assistance, but he can't be blocked because his behavior with that account doesn't merit a block. What about the fact that all but one comment on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Eclerx were made before I cited multiple external sources and made some significant changes to the article? It's really frustrating to have your work deleted without much thought.Nshuks7 19:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Which was never mentioned in the AfD discussion. (Tangent: only one source is independent.) Since the only discussion at the AfD was delete, I don't blame the closing admin for not looking closely at the article. If you'd like, I can restore the article into your user space tonight (EDT, GMT-4) so you can work on it further, but before it goes back into main article space, either some drastic changes in the company's notability need to happen, or it needs to go through deletion review. —C.Fred (talk) 19:16, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- That would be nice of you. If I could have the text, even in user space, I could mature the article some more. Another question: am I allowed to at least speak on the deletion review page? Like saying that I have updated the page/references/etc.? Nshuks7 20:11, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Interstate 40
I appreciate the information but every time I go to see a page about an interstate, it seems different. Who set the rule that intestates should be west to east. Seems a bit strange as the interstate 95 page says "from Maine to Florida". If it is west to east then it should be also south to north, or am i incorrect in my thinking? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.125.195.38 (talk) 06:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- The formal description of I-95 lists the southern terminus first. IMO, "from Maine to Florida" is a prose variation to keep the article from getting repetitive; plus, in that intro, the cities are listed north-to-south. If it warrants a change, it should be discussed at the article's talk page before any change is made. —C.Fred (talk) 17:17, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
I feel the block should immediately be implemented as he has received warnings level 1 through 4. It would seem inconsistent for him to receive warnings 3 and 4 and not be blocked. Bstone 03:15, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Can I blame the time change? :) I used to be on UTC-4, but we fell back to UTC-5 tonight, so the math isn't as easy. I looked at the time stamps again. Not only had he received a block-may-follow warning, but he had asked his question at the help desk and had it answered before his last deletion. Accordingly, you're right: he was properly warned, and the appropriate step to prevent further damage is to block. (Which I probably gave a rather mild one, all things considered, but I'd rather get him on board with discussing the issue, if possible, than push him completely away from Wikipedia.) —C.Fred (talk) 03:19, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I believe he should discuss it with us. I invited him to do so both on the article page and on his user talk page. No response, sadly. Not sure why. Hopefully the block will get his attention to discuss it with us. Bstone 03:48, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Request
Hi, User:C.Fred- I see we're both doing a lot of anon IP reversions at Endurance (TV series). It looks like IP219.89.180.27 is at it again. I dropped a level 3 warning on his Talk page last night, after he added an entire bogus section. His only response was to introduce more erroneous info. within a couple of hours.
Would you revert the article to last good version, please? I can't do it right now as I'm travelling in Buenos Aires Argentina, and only checking my Watchlist using a Blackberry. Unfortunately, due to a known bug, Blackberries truncate articles longer than 30kb, so if I attempt an Undo, it's likely to damage the article further.
Cheers! JGHowes talk - 12:24, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi, C.Fred. Thanks so much for your assistance last night with the St Matthews University article. Sorry to say, but the licensing section has again disappeared. The edit this time was done by User:Jfdietrich. I smell a sock. If not a sock, then a block avoidance. I've reverted the information and placed a level 2 warning for now. Thought I'd let you know so you can do an IP lookup and determine if further action is needed. Thank you. Bstone 17:17, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Fred, mere moments after I wrote this another new user, User:Traveler1019, blanked the entire licensing section. I must be careful in further undoing of this in order not to violate 3RR. Thanks for your help. Bstone 17:24, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry to bombard you, Fred, but I did ask for and was granted semi-protection but it only happened after User:Jfdietrich's vandalism. Since I have already done a large number of reverts and I don't want to violate 3RR, can you perhaps revert this most recent vandalism? Thank you. Bstone 20:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- I thought vandalism reversion was exempt from 3RR. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 20:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- It might be, but when I reported these suspected sock puppets to the vandalism reporting page, admin Elkman declined to do anything with the note Declining "Jfdietrich; this is a content dispute, not vandalism" [5]. Thus, I am nervous to do any more rollbacks unless directed to by an admin. Thank you. Bstone 20:59, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Right. Sockpuppetry to evade a block is a disruptive edit, i.e. vandalism. If you're reverting a change made by such an editor, make sure to note that you're reverting an edit made in evasion of a block--that way, it's clear to the admins why an exemption from 3RR applies. At this point, though, the article is protected, which should prevent any new editors from vandalizing the article--but also limits how much they can contribute to the article directly. Still, benefits outweigh costs right now. —C.Fred (talk) 22:43, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- I fully appreciate and understand that but how does it work when I reported it as vandalism, the responding admin said it was not vandalism (tho he later agreed it was), but when we all know it is? I just want to avoid any problems. Bstone 23:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Fred,
I noticed you delistedCollectonian's report to AiV of the user Lulu Margarida due to a lack of final warning. Just to give you some background about this user, she has already been banned on the PT Wikipedia for personal attacks and has an existing RfC/U here. You can read the whole story on the RfC. Unfortunately she POV-pushes on political articles where I'm the only other editor, so at times I feel like I'm the guy with the finger holding the damn. The RfC didn't go to ArbCom because she stopped editing, but now she's attacking other editors here as well (check out Talk:Simone Bittencourt de Oliveira and this edit summary) when they went after her pet page. So I would ask you take that into consideration on whether or not a block for vandalism really does require final warning on a user with this history. At the the very least, one could argue that much like the guidelines for warnings on 3RR violations, a long-time editor like her should know better. Cheers.--Dali-Llama 05:05, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Zachary Jaydon
I am confused about your revert to Zachary Jaydon as a cast member of the Mickey Mouse Club. The articles of deletion on his user page was arguing whether or not he was "notable" as per Wikipedia standards, not whether or not he had ever worked in TV/Film, music or otherwise. It is noted on Amazon.com, IMDB, AOL, Yahoo, as well as many others that he was indeed a cast member on the Mickey Mouse Club. What burden of proof needs to be provided, and to whom to prove "notability" and credit? Respectfully, Skyler Morgan 04:39, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
MMC
Thanks for the revert message. Im aware of it and have filed a block request. user User:TragedyStriker appears to be Zachary Jaydon in question and in deleting that article it was decided he was not a cast member of MMC by independent sources. IMDB is something he is able to edit and any 3rd party source can not confirm he was on the show (as in the deletion log). I've been trying to revert his original research edits. Any help would be appreciated --Thegingerone 04:43, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Need to change page Dimension Zero to Dimension Zero (Sweden)
Using the title “Dimension Zero” for the Swedish Metal Band is in violation of the United States Patent and Trademark Office service mark (Serial #78072275 Registration #2573924), owned by Liquid Records, the label for the US band Dimension Zero. To be in accordance with the service mark, the Swedish Dimension Zero must be referenced as “Dimension Zero (Sweden).”
I attempted to move the contents from “Dimension Zero” to a new page “Dimension Zero (Sweden)”, and then update the contents for “Dimension Zero” with the US band information.
If this is not the correct way to proceed, please tell me your suggestions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimensionzero (talk • contribs) 17:57, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

You (probably correctly!) removed User:Ian Garrigan from WP:AIV on the grounds that the account is currently inactive and hasn't received any warnings. I'm pretty sure something ought to be done, because (1) every edit the account made was vandalism, and (2) although quiet for a few days, the account's editing history is over a longer timeframe and there have been gaps before. I probably reported it in the wrong forum, but at least a warning message seems a good idea. Does that require an administrator or can any user apply a warning? And where should I take such reports in the future? Thanks, Purgatorio (talk) 18:24, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Droliver's persistent abuse of wikipedia
Dear Fred-As you you may remember, droliver is a plastic surgeon who seems to consider himself the sole authority on all matters relating to plastic surgery on wikipedia. He has been repeatedly vandalizing the breast reconstruction site. I was involved in passage of federal legislation, called The Janet Law, known also as the Womens Health and Cancer Act, which mandated that insurance companies pay for breast reconstruction. The law was only the second time in US history that a federal legislation was created for coverage of a medical illness. It was named for a patient of mine, Janet Franquet, who had breast cancer and her insurance carrier denied her coverage. We led a national lobby effort to change this and this resulted in the law that bears her name. This was quite well reported at the time, including national tv and print media. There is an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal that referenced it. Janet Franquet died soon after the law was passed from her disease. For some reason, Droliver continues to try to remove her name from the breast reconstruction site. In addition, his talk page refers one back to a paid website where he advertises for plastic surgery. Since he literally floats all over wikipedia, peppering it with commentary about plastic surgery, the average reader will often wind up back at his talk page and then to his business website where he sells his wares. This seems to me to be a conflict of interest as well as quite unethical. Is there a way to stop him from doing this and also to leave the section concering Janet's Law alone? It seems to me that it is important that people know the name of the law and how it was named so. It is a matter of historical fact, not subjectivity. {{cfb link}}
Hey ... wrt [6], starting Monday, there will be a limit of 100 calls to #ifexists in each article. Anything with more will break and not render correctly. There is a discussion about it at WT:CFB, but as far as the football articles go, if we just use "real" links anywhere that a season article exists and reserve use of the template for links where team or season pages haven't yet been created but will be at some point, we should be fine almost everywhere. Basketball is a bigger problem because you can play 40 games once you start counting conference tournaments and NCAA games and if we use {{cbb link}} in more than about 20 of them, it's going to break ... but for football, as long as we are diligent about not using the template where we don't need to, we're fine. So the bottom line is, if the article you want to link to exists, just link to it. --B (talk) 23:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Before I file the AIV or AN/I...
Could you take a look at some of the contributions of this feller? I am not sure, but I am thinking its a kid, as there has been a spate of nonsense edits (1, 2 3 4 5), and I am thinking that there might be some deeper issues going on than just pattern vandalism; either the contributor is a kid, his dog is making edits, or their might be an impairment some sort in play. Thoughts? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 22:48, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'll say the edit to the Greater Vancouver Zoo article is reasonable, since it's removing a presumed copyvio, but an edit summary would have been a good idea. I'm not sure what the agenda is with the Santa Claus edits, though - or earlier ones to Easter Bunny. I think your question is reasonably civil, and I'd wait and see what the response is. If there's no response or a polite apology, and if there's no further vandalism to Santa Claus, then everything's good. If there's an uncivil response or further vandalism, then file the report. —C.Fred (talk) 22:59, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I saw that my request to have a user blocked was denied because they'd only been warned up to Level 2. Hi cfred, I figured I would post on your talk page as it seems we are having a disagreement in the Sigma Alpha Mu article. If you're interested in discussing the issue in general outside of the article talk page, post a note on my user talk page and we can discuss it either here or on my talk page. Please specify which is better for you. Alan.ca (talk) 05:56, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

- It was the edit before that was the clearer vandalism, but given that the only change to Speech was the typo, I felt that was includable in the same warning. Please also mind the personal attacks. Incivility is grounds for blocking. —C.Fred (talk) 17:57, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

- What exactly would you like to see referenced? The article links to the multi-platinum artist Public Enemy and the album revolverlution. I reviewed other artist pages and it shows as many references as any other page. I could link to some press if you would like.

User Asdfasdfasdf1232
Hi C.Fred. At the risk of seeming bitey, shouldn't Asdfasdfasdf1232 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) have been indef blocked? His/her only contributions have been malicious page blankings, with misleading edit summaries, that spam an external link. Also, the username seems to suggest a throwaway account. I'm not questioning your judgment, I just wanted to bring it to your attention in case you wanted to reconsider. If an indef block would be overly harsh, I'd appreciate your reasoning to give me something to consider in the future, and modify my approach if needed. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 00:52, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

So if you could look over that I would appreciate it. Thanks! --ImmortalGoddezz 02:32, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

This is an extremely long-term, persistent pattern of vandalism on Dapto High School. This anon's actions indicate it's the same user editing under a different IP address. I don't mean to undermine your judgement, though, it can be tricky. --Closedmouth (talk) 05:12, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- One of the unfortunate lumps we have to take in allowing anonymous editing I suppose :-/ --Closedmouth (talk) 05:41, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Please bear in mind that prodding an article for non-notability is an action that firstly requires having made sure a good faithed attempt to find sources for that subject has been done, according to the notability guideline; as you seem to have missed that step.
Regards.

ZTA secret motto redaction
Why did you remove what I wrote from the talk page of Zeta Tau Alpha, its one thing to remove it from the article but you cant just remove it from the talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.159.92 (talk) 22:13, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- I removed it because you represented it as secret. Since you've restored it, I've left it restored. It absolutely does not belong in the article without reliable sources; I don't think it should go in the talk page, either. Were it anything other than something represented as a secret, I wouldn't have removed it in the first place. —C.Fred (talk) 22:36, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Simon tudor and his band
Hi, you recently deleted the article Simon tudor that I tagged for CSD. Right after I tagged it (or maybe it was the page for his band, which I had also tagged and is now gone) in the edit history I noticed that it had 2 editors - one was User:Tudorsi and the other was something like User:tudorsi2. This is obvious sockpuppetry, and I was going to warn the editor, but I didn't catch the second name just right and now that it's deleted I don't have access to the history. Soooo...I was hoping you could help me out by giving me that name, or, just warning him about sockpuppetry (I'm not familiar enough with the policy to know if it also deserves a block). If not I'll try another admin. Thanks in advance...--CastAStone//(talk) 06:08, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Aaron Herzog
I am not Aaron Herzog. I am Joe Scott. If you check my records you will see that the before I knew the terms of Wikipedia I tried creating an article about myself a long time ago, but since have not done so. Also, Aaron Herzog is rapidly increasing his name in the gaming industry. He has been working on the UT series for a few years now. More specifically he has been trying to make the characters move more like humans and less like they were programmed. If you could please place the article back that would be great. I was trying to show you (Wikipedia) that he is notable by referencing the facts I placed on the page to other notables sites like IMDb and MobyGames.
Thank You and I look forward to your response.
-Joe
Update: Sorry, I did not read your header. I created an article on Aaron Herzog and you deleted it. If you could please review it and place it back to where it was that would be great. I will try to check your page but if you could please reply on mine that would be great.

Podgorska
A few weeks back, you did a speedy deletion of the article on Stefania Podgorska because "no assertion of notability was provided".
Being a Rescuer during the Holocaust is an assertion of notability. Whether it actually meets inclusion criteria is for AfD.
As for sources - http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/idcard.php?lang=en&ModuleId=10006455 and http://motlc.learningcenter.wiesenthal.org/pages/t012/t01272.html should be enough?
So, can you restore it? DS (talk) 21:17, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Summary of response at DS's talk page: I do not think the prior article asserts notability, but I think a replacement article can be written which emphasizes that she was awarded Righteous Among the Nations by Israel, a notable award. Titling it Stefania Podgórska will also link it in to List of Righteous Among the Nations by country. —C.Fred (talk) 23:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Regarding removing links to the Race to Dakar Download Store
I can't see anything that violates Wikipedia external links guidelines. The download store features both free and paid for content and you can watch the trailer and a welcome message specially created for the download store by Charley Boorman. We are having massive problems with piracy on bittorrent and letting people know on that there is a legal alternative is appropriate in this instance. The download store is a different website from the main website so I can't see any harm in showing that as an external link on the contrary it could be useful for people who want to download it that would otherwise go directly to a pirate website.
Thanks, Robert Bjarnason (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 04:28, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

- First, the edit was off-topic to the article, since it's about Washington's early life. Second, the edit did not cite the source. In regards to your Undo Edit for the Willow Creek Community Church History entry, I will be certain to provide source documentation.
"As of 1996, Willow Creek Church has come under private scrutiny for the alleged practice of permanent ex-communication, enforced upon a selective fraction of its leadership/membership, although the church has denied any such allegation publicly. In this context, it has been alleged that Willow Creek Church's ex-communication practices have not always run consistent, with the procedural guidelines that it has publicly represented to its membership population."

Hi, C.Fred. I have reverted edits by Superwhitekid for the second time in 24 hours to the Atlantic Coast Conference article. I would like for you to take a look at the comment exchange he and I have had on our talk pages at User_talk:Superwhitekid and User_talk:Gwguffey on this topic. Vandalism page (unfamiliar)
Hi, I saw that you handled the vandalism concern that I voiced on the vandalism page. It was my first reporting of such an incident, so I'm not totally familiar with how things work. For example, does "current" activity mean like, in the last few minutes? Also, what am I to do if this user continues to add promotional material to this article (Transfer Factor is a commercially sold alt-med product)? I'm just wondering how to respectfully but appropriately deal with this kind of activity. Thanks for your insight. Antelan talk 22:58, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- For example, there is another user who continues adding press-release material about an MS drug to a Crohn's disease page [11] despite reversion and without explanation. Is this the kind of thing I should be reporting? I have a fair amount of experience on WP, but reporting tendentious editing is not an area I'm familiar with. Thanks for your help. Antelan talk 01:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
If you're too busy to help, can you suggest someone who I might talk to instead? Thanks, Antelan talk 22:03, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Wow, thanks for your very thorough and thoughtful reply. I think I now better understand the process of trying to talk an editor out of making repeated edits before bringing it to the admin page. For my future reference, is the Vandalism page the appropriate place to bring copyvio and promo concerns (stuff that doesn't fit with my intuitive definition of vandalism), or is there a more appropriate place? Thanks, Antelan talk 18:06, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
A/B in exit list on Interstate 68
Exit 14 on Interstate 68 is labeled on the signs at least as belonging to two routes: 14A goes to U.S. Route 219 south, while 14B goes to U.S. Route 40 west. I'm not sure if the A/B belongs in the exit list, but the exit does go to two separate routes rather than two directions of the same route. - Algorerhythms (talk) 01:14, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
IP block
You declined to block 63.88.37.33 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), giving as your reason "IP, no edits since final warning, not active". This IP was blocked on 3 October; since then, they have received warnings on 12 November (twice), on 29 November (twice), on 14 December, and on 2 January before today. some of these have been "final" or "only" warnings. In the period since the last block, the IP has made 22 edits; 21 of them have been clear vandalism. The address is not being used appropriately, and I believe that a further block is indeed called for. Please reconsider. RolandR (talk) 18:01, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. I understand your reluctance, since it's not possible to identify any one individual vandal. But this is apparently a static IP. allocated to an identifiable educational institution, the BLaST Intermediate Unit 17 of Canton PA; and virtually every edit made from this address is vandalism. We spend enough time and effort in removing such rubbish from Wikipedia, and I really don't see what purpose is served by allowing an inadequately-monitored school link to constantly vandalise our pages. Perhaps a short-term block would concentrate minds, and prompt the school to ensure proper use was made of their computers and internet access. RolandR (talk) 00:31, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Why didnt you even give the man suspension from wikipedia. In the vandalism, it says that adding NONSENSE to page is vandalism, and NONSENSE does mean adding fake material to a page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Y5nthon5a (talk • contribs) 01:34, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Learning Experience
Hi Fred, I tagged the article Mariana Sansón Argüello for speedy deletion because it was 100% Spanish. I was surprised to see it in my watchlist this morning. It has been rewritten in english which is fine but I'm unable to verify the sources because they are Spanish. I found WP:RSUE but that didn't clarify how to proceed. I didn't see any templates for this. I'm hoping to learn what to do.
If you are too busy, I will work with anyone who is willing...Thanks Fred. Berean Hunter (talk) 12:13, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

I am sorry for being rude but I have had people that removed my posts from other pages when the information was from the company source and I just was frustrated and I am sorry I took it out on you. I won't post anything until I hear from Directv, I asked them in a email and will wait and see. Like I said I have had people remove things when I was watching the channel myself. I subscribe and it seems that sometimes people that don't even have Dirctv think exactly what is on there. Again, I am sorry for the comment to you before. Please explain Autism Services of Edmonton image deleted
Hi C. Fred,
Can you please tell me how to get some information on autism Services of Edmonton on Wikipedia. All we want is for autism services of Edmonton to be searchable on Wikipedia so that the general population can get more information about the services they provide. I understand that it is off the website that we created, but the "picture" is basic information about the services in Edmonton.

Hey there,
So first of all, how can people put up bibliographies then? Just a bit confused. Maybe then is it possible to add or "edit" an article already written about Autism with link to the Autism Services of Edmonton site as a type of source. Should I add a bit about them building an new centre in Edmonton. I disagree with you. Support Coordination is notable. It seems unfair to completely delete someone's article. You should at least give them a chance to edit it. If that is the guideline then why don't the Orlando resorts state the specific city that they are in? 74.163.224.123 (talk) 18:58, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you look at the category Category:Casinos_in_Las_Vegas, you'll see that regardless of the casino's mailing address, they're still listed as being in Las Vegas for sake of the category. If this is not what you are looking for, then you will need to be more specific with your question. I also recommend that if you have a specific question that it is better to ask it on a single appropriate page rather than to post the same question on multiple user's talk pages. Problematic IP
Hello, C. Fred. This IP address, 70.108.92.126, has become a problem. He or she constantly adds unsourced information to articles such as birth names of real-life people, and when reverted (just check out this IP's contributions and talk page history), reinstates the unsourced information. Not only that...but refuses to listen in regards to Wikipedia's formatting style when it comes to articles, and instead insists on formatting articles the way he or she wants, all because he or she saw it formatted that way (wrongly, I might add) in many other articles on Wikipedia. I have told this IP countless times, such as when editing the Elisabeth Hasselbeck article, the correct way to format, but, nope, he or she refuses. Reverts other editors' edits when their edits seem to agree about removing poor sources, and reverts edits that try to keep neutral wording, instead keeping poor wording.
Any help that you can give on this matter would be much appreciated. Flyer22 (talk) 22:29, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for helping with the copyright problems for my images... They were used in an article, but it got deleted. I'm not sure why, I'm hoping it'll be allowed to be re-added because I really don't think there was anything wrong with it... As for the image from Myspace, it's also posted on Purevolume and on various other sites. Does that mean it's still under copyright? If so, if whoever runs their Myspace say it's okay to use, is that enough? And how could I prove that? Until I know more, I can use a photo taken by a fan.. although at this point the article doesn't even exist so I guess that's kind of pointless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LickLickSalute (talk • contribs) 18:18, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Advice on what to do
C. Fred, looking for some advice and help on how to handle a situation. I have been editing a page (subject is Steven Libutti) regarding a physician and scientist. A user GPHemsley keeps deleting my work and adding flags for notability. A simple Google or Pubmed search of the subject of the page shows that questions of notability are absurd. I have tried being nice with GPHemsley but his most recent edit accuses me of being the subject and he is now taking this to an inappropriate level that I don't think is in the spirit of Wikipedia. Rather than get into a back and forth with him, I was wondering if you could advise me on what I can do to try to keep him from defacing the page? Any advice would be appreciated.
Respectfully,
Mike MFC8290 (talk) 20:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- Mike, I would like to know how you "have tried to be nice" when you had only made one edit to the page prior to berating me in all sorts of places, including via e-mail. You type in all capital letters on my talk page, threaten to report me to the "Wikipedia editorial staff" and then do so without waiting for my response, and call my tagging an article for cleanup and a notability check "hacking" and "defacing" an article. I don't see how you can call me a child. To C.Fred: I acknowledge your edit war message, as it is valid. —Gordon P. Hemsley→✉ 21:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
C. Fred,
Thank you for your response. I appreciate your effort and for my part, I agree not to respond in kind to GPHemsley. I thought I was handling the situation properly when I addressed it in my edits. Hemsley has repeatedly tagged the article for notability, when a simple google or PubMed search on the subject would have clearly established notability. In looking up who Hemsley is, I noticed that he was from the same home town as the subject and I concluded that he may have something personal against the subject. This belief was reinforced when Hemsley accused me of being the subject. I am willing to give Hemsley the benefit of the doubt. I pledge not to continue this back and forth with him if he leaves the page alone. Certainly there must be others who can "police" this page for notability that do not have an agenda or bias.
Thank you for your help with this.
Respectfully,
Mike MFC8290 (talk) 21:50, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luke Ward-Wilkinson and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:59, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Kaziz

WrestleMania XI IP vandal
You know that IP you blocked for vandalizing this page yesterday? Looks like he is trying to evade his/her block. A IP with a very similar IP address (172.193.154.116, the original one was 172.192.13.237). Both are from Dulles, Virginia and both vandalized the page by changing "Special Olympian" to "Special Retard". Is this enough to extend the orginal IP's block and block the second as a sockpuppet? Bracket Tips
Hi C.Fred. I saw what you did with the 2008 CBI bracket and it led me to want to ask you if you could help me or give me a tip. I have been trying to create a playoff bracket for the 2007-08 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs which would include 13 teams in the top half of the bracket (the American Conference) and 8 teams on the bottom bracket (the National Conference). Every attempt I have made to tinker with other bracket templates have gone awry and I have been forced to use just three separate brackets. I was wondering if you had any tips or in any way you could help me with this situation?--Rik (talk) 23:00, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey There: AIV Templates
Hey, I see you have been using the new AIV template I, and a few other people, created. What do you think of it? :D Steve Crossin (talk to me) 00:00, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

You are receiving this notice because you have had previous dealings with the above user, in, so far as I could tell, a less-than-positive fashion. Community service recently emailed another user, User:Tiddly Tom, expressing a desire to return to Wikipedia to constructively contribute. In an effort to assume good faith, but still respect the reasons for the block, I have set Community service a series of tasks for him to complete on his now-unprotected talk page so that he may demonstrate this willingness to contribute to us. These tasks are listed here, and the full discussion of this situation, including an email I sent to Community service just now, may be found on my talk page at User talk:Hersfold#User:Community service. I would encourage you to review these tasks, and offer any advice to the user he may need. Thank you for your time and understanding in this matter. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:01, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Quick update - CS has emailed me to indicate he has finished the assigned tasks. I'll give you all a chance to review things before I take any action (unblock or decline - right now I'm kinda neutral on it) Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:18, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
New Sock
I'm dropping you a line because you previously blocked a sockpuppet of User talk:TyrusThomas4lyf. The Quadruple-double page was semiprotected, and now he appears to have aged a sock and returned as User talk:Soda pop is not healthy on the page. As you can see from the talk page [14], he's blatant about it, making the exact same edits as before. I thought I'd see if I could catch you online before posting to SSP, since you have experience with it. Thanks! Redrocket (talk) 06:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

What's wrong with updating the scoring? It's a current sports-related event, so it obvious that "information may change as the event progresses", as the tag says. And WP:NOT does not cite anything relating to score updates in an article :). Udonknome (talk) 02:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Generally speaking, wikipedia isn't for running play-by-play, just like it isn't for week-to-week updates on sports. It's best to wait until the end of the game, so the result can be properly sourced. Redrocket (talk) 02:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I think the same thing was done in the Super Bowl XLII. Also, just to cite what someone said on the talk page..."I don't think it matters. People update it all the time. Regarding Page "Asif Chaudry"
C. Fred, I have edited some pages that I have seen you comment on as a moderator of sorts and I wanted to bring something to your attention. I have attempted to edit a page "Asif Chaudry" and flagged it for notability and references. A single anonymous user, 81.100.110.35, has reverted my edits on multiple occasions without real justification. I am merely flagging the page to allow other editors to weigh in on notability as 81.100.110.35 appears to be the main if not only editor on this page raising the possibility that he is the subject of the page or close to the subject. I have left his recent reverts alone as I do not want to start an edit war. I have initiated a discussion on notability on the discussion page of "Asif Chaudry". I left a message on 81.100.110.35"s page that such a discussion has been initiated and requested that he engage in a more productive dialogue. I am looking for any additional advice on how to proceed. Thank you. AlexC907 (talk) 11:38, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I see you alot on AIV, dealing with reports and blocking vandals. I've seen you there quite a lot, and I feel that deserves this. So for your tireless work on AIV, I award you the Special Barnstar. Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 22:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC) |
Great work, I've seen you on AIV a lot, and I couldn't leave it un-noticed. Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 22:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, we all have our role to play. I try and look over the reports and annotate them, because I know some of the reports admins have to sift through are just not warranted for a block, so, if I can make admins job easier, well, I think thats a good thing. I'm not an admin as of yet, but I'd hope to be one someday. I'm sure I'll see you again soon, I saw you on AIV. I'll watch this page for a reply. Cheers, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 22:47, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- And I've noticed your work on AIV. Do keep me advised if you decide to head down the road to getting the admin's mop and tools. :) And if you have any questions, feel free to ask! —C.Fred (talk) 22:48, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, I've decided I will not self nominate. I'm currently getting admin coaching. There are some things I'd like to learn more of specifically in WHOIS reports, how to see if whether an IP is dynamic or static. The sort of things admins do on AIV that I don't know how to do yet, I'd like to learn. That would help a lot. Cheers, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 23:12, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Could you kindly explain why my 2nd request to semi-protect the Singapore article was removed & not fully addressed as per this log? Do I need to escalate this case to another platform or to the attention of another experienced Admin then? -- Aldwinteo (talk) 23:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank u for your prompt follow-up this time round - I was about to escalate this case to the mentioned link if this request was declined again. As u can see, it's a meaningless & counter-productive exercise to warn & revert with no end in sight! Looking at the history logs (including previous temp semi-protection) & highly provocative edit summary, I can bet my last dollar that the vandals will return to start another vicious cycle of 'cat & mouse game' once this semi-protection ends in 6 weeks time. -- Aldwinteo (talk) 00:36, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

MetaCarta
Dear C.Fred, I posted to the deletion debate under the MetaCartaEmployee handle because I'm a MetaCarta employee and wanted to make the COI clear (I also refrained from editing the page itself). I am surprised that the debate was settled entirely on style and not on substance.
It is possible that Sitnikov didn't approach Macloverboy the right way or even did nasty stuff to his talk page, I have no idea. It is possible I shouldn't have picked the name MetaCartaEmployee (though I don't see what is this a violation of, I am a bona fide employee of the company, see below). It is possible that various parties were uncivil to each other so on style alone a deletion may be entirely justified.
But on substance, the company clearly meets the corporate notability guidelines, with plenty of secondary sources (print articles, webpages, analyst's reports etc) writing about us, not to speak of the awards. Why is MetaCarta being punished for the clumsiness of the main editor? Wouldn't a properly sourced article be reasonable even if the editors were boorish and should apologize? Respectfully,
MetaCartaEmployee
(PS. I'm not signing so that you can trace this to a metacarta.com IP address -- if you wish I can provide a signed copy.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.80.142.144 (talk) 19:27, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
