- The address space of 93.186.16.0 - 93.186.23.255 is not an open proxy, it is allocated to Research in Motion, UK and is is presented for Blackberry mobile device users in that area. It is technical a proxy, but it is not an open proxy itself. Blocking that range would only be done if there was significant disruption to the project. — xaosflux Talk 14:59, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Could you take care of the edit summaries and diffs at TPG Telecom when you get time. The page has been semi'd but the history is cluttered with the trash left behind. I believe it qualifies to be removed under REVDEL#2. Thanks! NQ talk 13:37, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
- Done Thanks for the note @NQ:, it should be all cleaned up now, I minimized the redaction to the specific problematic components of each revision. See the new history and let me know if you see anything I missed. — xaosflux Talk 17:25, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Question
Hi Xaosflux, I saw that one of the applicants for administrator got about 65% approval and was still unsuccessful. Is there a certain percentage that a user needs? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 12:39, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- There is not a specific rule, as it is not a vote. Typically, 70% is the low end of the mark, and 85% is the high end. The !votes are calculated in the tally numerically, however when judging the outcome not all !votes may have equal weighting. (e.g. "Oppose I don't like people who's usernames start with J" would appear in the tally, but would likely be given little to no weight towards the outcome.) — xaosflux Talk 20:36, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

Autopatrolled
Hello, when I'm gonna get answer for being autopatrolled? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Autopatrolled All users below got their answers before me, despite I've created more articles than them.--Yacatisma (talk) 23:36, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- There is no specific rule for processing these, and I'm only one of many admins that patrol that page; no action is not a bad sign (as nooned came by and stamped Not done on it). Good news is this is not holding you up from doing anything you want on the project. — xaosflux Talk 03:46, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
On a related note, I’ve been creating biographies on politicians and Civil war MOH recipients, mostly stubs. I’ve created around 12 yesterday alone and planning a dozen more today and hope to reach another couple of dozens by the end of the week. I know the requirement says 50 creations, but since there is quite a backlog at NPP and many of my new ones have not been reviewed yet- If auto patrolled, will make it easier for everyone, I would like to request it here. Thanks. NQ talk 03:58, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Please enter your request at WP:PERM, the guidelines are just guidelines, explain your reasoning and don't worry about backing up NPP, autopatrolled is primarily for long-term use-and hopefully you will create articles for a long time! — xaosflux Talk 04:54, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. Done I never thought of creating any articles at first. But there are hundreds of red linked pages especially biographies which I can easily contribute to and help develop. NQ talk 05:07, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Account creation user right
Hi Xaosflux. Could you explain why you've removed me from the group Account Creators? Thanks in advance, MartinPoulter (talk) 13:38, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- I hit a couple of false positives when doing a bulk cleanup, looks like you got swept up inadvertently (account logs show you have never created an account for anyone, much less over the creation threshold). Assuming you are going to do this type of activity in the near future I just re-enabled it, hope I didn't disrupt anything. If you never intend to use this, please let me know as it is not a permission intended to be assigned indefinitely. Happy editing, — xaosflux Talk 18:50, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- No worries: thanks for the quick response. I am one of the lead trainers for Wikimedia UK and I do a lot of workshops and editathons, so I do definitely intend to use it in future (including in training events this autumn). I've not had to use it so far because so far fewer than six people have turned up to events without accounts, or there has been another trainer present with the user right. Pending changes reviewing guidelines & reality?
Hi Xaosflux, thanks again for the reviewer and rollback rights. I find I am still a bit hesitant to get into reviewing much, though, and was hoping you might provide your view.
Basically, the reviewer guidelines say that (broadly) the process of reviewing is intended as a quick check to ensure edits don't contain vandalism, violations of the policy on living people, copyright violations, or other obviously inappropriate content. Yet I see a lot of edits in the pending changes queue that meet this criteria (there are no obvious issues, per the guideline), but still haven't been accepted, sometimes for 10+ hours.
For example, as of the date of this comment, this edit (anon IP adding a missing UK chart position for one of Katy Perry's songs) has been sitting in the queue for 12 hours. It is a pretty minor change, and the reviewer guideline states reviewers do not take responsibility for the correctness of edits they accept. So based on the reviewer guideline, and that statement, I'd go ahead and accept that edit. Yet other reviewers have not decided, one way or another, for 12 hours. I have seen many other examples of that sort of minor, seemingly innocuous edit taking ages to be accepted or declined, etc. It makes me nervous when contemplating accepting any other edits besides the most clear cut, non-contentious ones.
So what gives, am I missing something here... if so.. what? Thanks! :) -BloodDoll (talk) 08:30, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- You've found your self in the same situation I am in when ever I go to Special:PendingChanges, wanting to fact-check all the edits. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, but as you've read it is not the goal of PC1. I suspect many of the other reviewers look at it this way as well, thus the backlogs. The only hint I've got for you is to WP:AGF, accepting the edit is not the same as making it, yes you are in the log but the edit isn't yours and no one will blame you unless its an obvious error you accepted. FWIW, I would have accepted that Katy Perry edit from PC1. If you are really not sure, just skip them, someone will pick it up eventually. — xaosflux Talk 11:43, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Page protection template (user talk pages)
Hey Xaosflux, I liked your idea of changing the template. How does this look?
Current version (in its current state, the edit request button doesn't work because the talk page is protected): (removed because it was confusing to put it here)
Proposed version: (removed because it was confusing to put it here)
--gdfusion (talk|contrib) 18:49, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Where would that target need to go? Looks like it currently targets your own talk page (the one that would be protected?) — xaosflux Talk 23:07, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Wait, it might be less confusing if you look at User talk:Gdfusion/Sandbox. In this hypothetical situation, my talk page is protected, and you're trying to contact me. What should happen when you press the button is that it creates a new message form on your talk page, with a note in the title that pings me. --gdfusion (talk|contrib) 23:47, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- OK, this I'm liking a lot more! I temp spp your talk page as the example. Would want the pre-load for this to be in a media-wiki page or subpage, and the mediawiki message will need updating to only target this on user_talk namespace. Do you have proposed edits ready to roll to production? — xaosflux Talk 00:09, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just put a proposed edit on Template:Protected page text, which is transcluded into MediaWiki:Protectedpagetext and MediaWiki:Cascadeprotected. --gdfusion (talk|contrib) 01:24, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

BAG
Hello Xaosflux, I thought of operating a bot and I need approval from BAG. It will work on WP:AWB. Main tasks are: WP:General fixings, fix citation errors, add {{Persondata}}, add {{Orphan}} to new article, fix inappropriate parameter of infoboxes. It will be automatic. Now, I don't have much knowledge how they approve bots so I'm asking you. I need your opinion, should I ask for bot approval?? Jim Carter (from public cyber) 10:45, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- The only way to get a bot flag is via a bot request, AWB requires a bot flag for automatic mode, so off to WP:RFBOT you should go. You should be clear in your bot request what your goal is for automatic editing, e.g. which pages are you targeting, what portions of the page. If you just want to run general cleanup, you can run AWB under your own account in manual mode. — xaosflux Talk 12:06, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I did that from my orginal account but the number of edits per second is more than our bot policy have mentioned. Hence it requires a seperate bot account. Okay I will request at WP:RFBOT with all those details. Thanks, Jim Carter (from public cyber) 12:47, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hey, what happens if my bot approval request matches with a task already done by another bot?? For example I doubt another bot adds {{Persondata}} tags to article and my bot will also do the same. Is it allowed if my bot do the same thing which already done by another bot?? Jim Carter (from public cyber) 13:07, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Multiple bots can perform the same tasks; what is important is that they do not edit war with eachother! — xaosflux Talk 15:17, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I recently closed another MFD where a broken flow was causing contirbutions to appear for the wrong users, in that case deletion helped, so I threw a delete at it while closing the MFD. CFD admin
Hi, I'm very grateful for your help at CFD, which needs it!
I noticed your "thank" - no problem! Before removing redlinked categories from the Working page, please not only check that they are empty, but also (ii) update backlinks from articles, other categories or portals, and (ii) consider whether any Wikidata pages need merging. The instructions page WP:CFDAI has some reminders about these.
Because I'm in the habit, I just checked and tidied up after the batch you deleted, see [1] [2] and [3].
I really, really do not mean to sound picky or ungrateful; hope this does not put you off doing more! – Fayenatic London 18:27, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Xaosflux, just a note to let you know that Gelacost Mouse, whom you confirmed at his request on September 5, was a sockpuppet of recently indefinitely blocked user PapaJeckloy (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PapaJeckloy).
Please be aware that he's likely to try again now that this latest sock is being shut down. PapaJeckloy did a great deal of damage at DYK and GAN (including approving his own nominations with other sockpuppets at DYK), and had signed up for the latest GOCE drive despite not being that good with English prose—there were irregularities with the one review he's done so far. This is not someone we want confirmed a minute earlier than the standard four days. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:27, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

I'd like to ask you about your close of this discussion, in hopes of not having to go to a deletion review. In your close, you described the nominated page as "a list of project-related references", and you described some of the arguments for deletion as "trending towards if the project as a whole is appropriate". I feel that your analysis oversimplifies the discussion that actually took place by, first, not distinguishing between "project-related references" and references selected for the purpose of violating WP:NPOV, and, second, not distinguishing between editor opinions about "the project as a whole" and editor opinions that WikiProjects do not get to set local consensuses that violate project-wide policies. It seems to me that your close reflects a misreading of policy, and is inaccurate in asserting that the discussion lead to a consensus amongst the discussants that the page should be kept. Did you sufficiently consider the extent to which assertions made by participating editors were refuted or substantiated by subsequent comments? Might you be willing to reconsider your decision? Thank you! --Tryptofish (talk) 19:41, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- I did consider the merits of all the participants, and do not believe that sufficient consensus to delete the page emerged. If removal of my additional commentary will satisfy your concerns I will remove it. If you still disagree please feel free to open a DRV request (please let me know), my comment to a DRV will be the same as I just place here. — xaosflux Talk 21:15, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. I don't think it is necessary for you to remove any of your closing comments, because it is helpful to see what your reasoning was. I'll think about it a bit, and if I do decide to go ahead with a DRV I will, of course, keep you informed. Thanks again. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:20, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Question regarding Bill McIntyre (Canadian football)
Hi, I'm unclear as to why you removed the induction into the sports hall of fame. Would it not be relevant to his career? I'd also like to know how to add a picture from his career at St. Franxis Xavier. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by McIntyreFan (talk • contribs)
- Hello McIntyreFan! Regarding my reverting of this revsision on Bill McIntyre (Canadian football), it was due to you adding "example" images to the primary article, you can re-add the hall of fame content at any time. When you edit article directly in the main article space, it is very likely that other patrolling pages will clean up these types of edits. To build the article without having as many other editors jump on it, you can do so in a sandbox through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation tool or in your own personal sandbox by following the link on the top of that sandbox link. Happy editing, — xaosflux Talk 15:01, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi xaosflux, Re: User:Rnorman345/Patrick Appleford I have, at last, found Patrick Appleford and he is still alive and ‘with it’. I have spoken with him and he has agreed that I can add a page for him and that he will review the information that is written. I would plan to add a page for ‘The Twentieth Century Church Light Music Group’ which will refer to the Patrick Appleford page as well as Geoffrey Beaumont for whom a page exists. I note that you have now deleted the page; where do I go from here? All best, Richard — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.138.146.246 (talk) 13:21, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Please revert deletion of Miscellany_for_deletion/User:Fearofreprisal/stats
I believe the page User:Fearofreprisal/stats was inappropriately deleted.
- User:Hijiri88 did not sign and date his nomination of the page at [5]
- User:Hijiri88 did not notify me of the nomination, as required by [6]. I discovered the deletion only by accident, after it happened.
- The page contained statistical data, in support of a current request for arbitration. Hijiri88's nomination of this page for deletion was not made in good faith, and has interfered with the arbitration process.
If you need further information to support reverting this delete, please let me know. Fearofreprisal (talk) 23:12, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Just so you know, I've requested an interaction ban with Hijiri88, at [7]. I've also notified ArbCom of this issue at [8].
Sorry to put you in the middle of such contention. I'm trying to follow the proper procedures for handling this, but it's not clear to me that there is any low-pain option. Fearofreprisal (talk) 00:06, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
- Fearofreprisal No pain, the MfD was weak. I have restored the page and noted the MfD here Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Fearofreprisal/stats. The page may be renominated at anytime. Since I am ever so slightly involved now, I have courtesy blanked this page, your edits are available in the history and via permalink should you need to reference it for pending dispute resolution; I strongly recommend you leave it blanked or reblank following updates--however will not personally enforce that. — xaosflux Talk 01:26, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
Question
Hey, if you have admin rights, could you please make the Idaho correction in the same-sex marriage template? The asterisk should be removed since they've got same-sex marriage, but the only admin we've been able to get to look at it refuses to do it. Difbobatl (talk) 20:04, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- I do, but I'm not making that edit-- please discuss on Template talk:Same-sex unions, the reason that template is currently protected was edit warring over Idaho. — xaosflux Talk 21:33, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Actually, there was never an edit war, the other admin doesn't really understand what's going on. Regardless of whether there was or wasn't an edit war and whether protection should be removed or not, the issue of Same-Sex Marriage in Idaho is settled. Not making that change just leaves an inaccurate Wikipedia page. All of this has been discussed at length on the talk page if you read the whole thing (which does take a while, I will admit). PLEASE MAKE THE CHANGE!!! Difbobatl (talk) 01:19, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not personally going to get involved in that edit, there is already an edit-request active, some patrolling admin or template editor should pick it up soon enough. — xaosflux Talk 02:26, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
WW II Convoys
Just a note to let you know that convoys during WWII were always designated in all capitals. Where there is a suffix, that is also in capitals, without a space. Wikipedia practice is to use a space between the first letters and first number instead of a dash or period. So we have Convoy FOO 93A, not Convoy FOO 93a, and convoy FOO 123AB, not Convoy FOO 123 ab. Mjroots (talk) 12:01, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, was doing new article clean up and I misread those strings as distance measurements (55KM as 55 kilometers) instead of designators. — xaosflux Talk 14:10, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
- Mjroots, this should prevent other cleaners from breaking that article again. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 14:21, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Confirmed user right for User:WMAU KR
Hi, there! The account User:WMAU KR is my second account used for Wikipedia edit training as part of my role as a committee member of Wikimedia Australia. This is explalined on User talk:WMAU KR as I need to keep the user page "vanilla" for training. What is written there is in preparation for training to take place tomorrow as an example user page that the trainees who are golf enthusiasts might create. My main account is User:Kerry Raymond. Can you please restore my confired user right on this account please as I will probably need it to do training demonstrations. If you have seen this account do anything strange, it was all as part of creating slides for presentation for the training tomorrow. This meant it was necessary for me to undo a few of my own changes so I can repeat them live in front of the group tomorrow. Thanks WMAU KR (talk) 04:23, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood what was happening. I thought I had become "unconfirmed" (as the notification simply said my confirmed status was removed) not that I was being upgraded. You are right it probably makes no difference. Thanks WMAU KR (talk) 04:35, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/GamerGate. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/GamerGate/Evidence. Please add your evidence by December 11, 2014, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/GamerGate/Workshop. Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2014/Candidates
Hi Xaosflux. I just removed cascading protection from Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2014/Candidates (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), as it was having unintended consequences (such as cascade-protecting Template:Shortcut). I was thinking of going through and protecting all the pages that did need protection, but I'm not sure which ones they are exactly. I'm guessing you wanted to protect all the candidate pages, but how about auxiliary pages such as Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2014/Header? - Hi there SparrowHK (talk · contribs) my menu is a very simple one, it has two parts and you are welcome to make copies. Part one is the actual menu, it is a subpage that you can view here: User:Xaosflux/Menu1. To place it on your page(s) transclude the subpage by placing code like this on your pages: {{User:Xaosflux/Menu1}}. Re: Arfæst Ealdwrítere
One of the reasons the permissions were removed is because of the sockpuppet investigation. During the course of the investigation the user was not honest with their accounts and behavior and did not display the trust necessary to hold those rights. However, the user has been unblocked after six months and to my knowledge there hasn't been any disruption since. If you feel that the user has regained the trust to use the requested permissions, then you're welcome to re-add them. Mike V • Talk 17:57, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

ITN
Hello! What was the intent behind this edit (which doesn't appear minor)? —David Levy 04:42, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- I marked it minor as it was only a rephrasing, as the line immediately above it already ended in the killing people phrase I was trying to balance this entry by using a different phrase. Note, I had no objection to the subsequent edit that kept the death toll information in the lead of the statement. — xaosflux Talk 05:56, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- @David Levy: I think your new edit "A militant attack on tribal people and subsequent retaliations in Assam, India, result in at least 85 deaths." is very clumsy, try reading it aloud. — xaosflux Talk 06:03, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Can you elaborate? I'm not seeing/hearing a problem. —David Levy 06:33, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- I should have been more specific. I'm wondering why you switched to a sentence fragment.
- Bongwarrior performed the subsequent edit to address this problem, but as I noted in my edit summary, the people weren't killed following the violent incidents. —David Levy 06:33, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Agree, sorry for my poor word choice, I should have used "from" or something besides "following", I never intended to suggest the events were in a different order (would not have marked it minor), I was just trying to keep the flow of ITN engaging for readers. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 16:04, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- There appears to be some misunderstanding. You didn't introduce that flaw; it was a side effect of Bongwarrior's edit.
- Your version of the blurb was factually accurate; the people were dead following the violent incidents. The problem was that your wording didn't form a complete sentence (because it contained no verb). —David Levy 18:02, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Gothca, thanks for the clarification. — xaosflux Talk 18:07, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Request IAR Review of my Ban
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Hi Xaosflux, I'm leaving this for you and a similar one for PresN in the hopes that you'll put your heads together to help me be unbanned. You'll recall I similarly contacted you in September and you told me go through the proper channels. I wanted to let you know I have done so. I used UTRS and received no response. I appealed to BASC and then the full Arbcom both of which refused me without providing a reason. There was also nothing but insignificant discussion with BASC and Arbcom, in other words they did not reply to anything I said in my own defense, neither did they offer a policy under which I should be blocked.
Since I was blocked, permanently and without warning or discussion close to three years ago, I have felt bullied and mobbed at every turn. Please do not laugh "oh ha ha, poor thing." As one bit of evidence it is true probably my most dogged hounder latest username "Dangerous_Panda" was deysoped late last year for "conduct unbecoming an admin." The bullying is not just my imagination. Another thing that has really galled me in my various attempts to be unblocked is that I am constantly set to mute and denied the ability to defend myself. My RFC/U was I think literally the first ever in which the user was prohibited from speaking in his own defense.
Well, it doesn't help to type more here. I will squeeze in that "no, I never socked Wikipedia," but "yes, in frustration at being wrongly blocked and having I believe no workable avenue of appeal, I have block-evaded using IP edits clearly identified to my username." I would be pleased if you and PresN would unblock merely my talkpage to continue this discussion and allow me to defend against whatever criticisms you may have. I will make the case that the block appeals system is really broken and I hope you consider an IAR approach to get me out from under this. If you won't, well, all I can say is that I hope that someday *you* find yourself in need of help, but you know what? Unlike me, I hope you get it.
I'll be back to put in my signature in a moment, if I don't, it's been filtered. Wait, just refer to your own edit on 13:43, 27 September 2014 (UTC) if you have any doubt who this is.
- Assuming this is ... most site-ban appeals are not usually entertained until at least a full year since the ban was implemented-this is why I assume ARBCOM has declined to review at this time (the "rules" are not very clear for community bans). Other administrators have already been involved after DP - so issues realted to that admin are less relevant now, I am not going to reverse their conclusions. The last invovled admins was @KWW: - pinging here. — xaosflux Talk 16:49, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- First please excuse me for editing my username out of your comment. It is because the filter is liable to stop any IP edit that includes my username. Kww is the filter author. I hesitate on how to phrase this, because I don't want to sidetrack anything, but I need to be able to speak and not simply have you accept allegations thrown at me while I must sit mute. I view Kww as among my hounders. I can edit via various IPs anytime I like but I grew sour on doing so once I realized Kww was spending many, many hours (at all hours of the day and night) tracking me and working on his filter. He cannot stop me technically but it gave me a crawly feeling to unwilling have this relationship with him, and yes that inhibits my IP block evasion. Again, not socking, would gladly sign except for filter, please find a way for me to be able to defend myself.
- At this point, your only appeal option is to Arbcom, and they will be more likely to hear you if it has been a year. Note, the arbcom membership recently changed (from elections) so there will be new people reviewing requests. You could also try to appeal to Jimbo, but really I don't think you have that much of a claim. As this is only an enwiki ban, you could attempt to become a reformed editor on other projects (such as wikisource, simple english wiki, commons) as a fresh start account--and then when your year is up use your positive editing contributions on the other projects as part of your appeal. — xaosflux Talk 20:13, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

- I am falsely accused, bullied and blocked. It is outrageous after my three-year punishment for something I never did, that you say "go away for another year and we'll see how you do then." I feel that I don't need to "reform" because I am a good editor that didn't do it. With the same fact set and the same bad actors (less "Dangerous Panda") in place. I urge you to take the time to become aware of the facts, because you are complicit in an abusive policy-free system. My Arbcom appeal did occur after Jan. 1, so if I can believe what they email, the new people did hear my request. However my original blocker Timotheus Canens still was on their email list and probably failed to recuse as he has before.
- As a non-invovled admin, I am disengaging from this - you may appeal to Arbcom. Your IP has been blocked for socking of banned user User:Colton_Cosmic. — xaosflux Talk 21:30, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

List of new religious movements
Hello! I saw that you altered the editnotice for List of new religious movements.
You should probably be aware that this was already under discussion at RSN and the article talk page (both currently and at some length in 2009 when the notice was added and in 2011 during an AfD discussion and deep revert).
The requirement for secondary sources was discussed earlier in the list history, and at an AfD several years ago. Given that inclusion in the list is rather controversial, secondary sources provide the level of context needed - rather than simply being in a list. Put another way, the list current cites a single encyclopedia nearly 600 times... the editnotice to only use secondary sources was supposed to protect against that (it obviously failed).
Please take a look and see if you might prefer to revert to the stable editnotice and join the conversation at RSN or the article talk page. Thank you in advance for looking into this. --Tgeairn (talk) 03:52, 19 March 2015 (UTC) modified 15:14, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Pardon the delay, it's been an exceptionally busy last wiki-week for me. Though they are mostly new, we have been in touch with them through email, etc, so this is not simply a sign-up-here to get userrights thing. I agree they should be removed when their particular event is over, although in cases where it is unclear perhaps we should wait until the month of March is past. Page deleted through MfD was possibly of historical interest
Hi Xaosflux. I recently came across Talk:Indian Institute of Planning and Management/draft and the MfD discussion to delete it. However, I have good reason to believe that the page was of historical interest. The draft was created by Wifione, who was a paid editor. It was discussed by him in extraordinary length at Talk:Indian Institute of Planning and Management#Draft. See here for the arbitration. The case was closed (recently) after the MfD was closed. Both the nominator and the only !voter appear to be unaware of all this. So, I was wondering if the page could be restored. SD0001 (talk) 18:33, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- Any relevance it might have to arbitration is not dimished -- its current deleted state only makes it non-visible to non-admins. I don't have any particular objections to seeing it restored and moved to Wifione's own userspace for posterity. ☺ · Salvidrim! · ✉ 18:49, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Why not? Anonymous users can create talk pages in any namespace. Such pathetic lack of knowledge on your part. 43.224.156.79 (talk) 17:29, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Greetings Xaosflux. Just popping in to apologise for not having replied to a message from you way back in December last year... I received it as a MediaWiki message delivery and thought it was just a bot. So, sorry & thanks. Regards, --Technopat (talk) 14:42, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Request for resolution on HostBot Co-op matching workflow
Hi there Xaosflux. Could you let me know if we're approved to match Co-op learners with mentors? I've amended that request to clarify its reduced scope: we're just asking for permission to create a normal talkpage; flow-create-board rights for HostBot will be requested separately. Can you tell us give us a thumbs up/down, or (if you're too busy at present) forward our request to another BAG member for review? Many thanks, Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 19:25, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Jmorgan (WMF): I'm sorry for the delay, been very busy offline. Edit your bot request and put the BAG Assistance Needed template on it an any of the other bag members should be able to take it over. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 15:50, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Invitation to subscribe to the edit filter mailing list
Hi, as a user in the edit filter manager user group we wanted to let you know about the new wikipedia-en-editfilters mailing list. As part of our recent efforts to improve the use of edit filters on the English Wikipedia it has been established as a venue for internal discussion by edit filter managers regarding private filters (those only viewable by administrators and edit filter managers) and also as a means by which non-admins can ask questions about hidden filters that wouldn't be appropriate to discuss on-wiki. As an edit filter manager we encourage you to subscribe; the more users we have in the mailing list the more useful it will be to the community. If you subscribe we will send a short email to you through Wikipedia to confirm your subscription, but let us know if you'd prefer another method of verification. I'd also like to take the opportunity to invite you to contribute to the proposed guideline for edit filter use at WP:Edit filter/Draft and the associated talk page. Thank you! I'm sorry.
It's been seven years since I was active on this website. I haven't been active since 2007/2008 so I have forgotten how this website works exactly.
I am gonna read some policies soon to understand the site again. Blaze The Movie Fan (talk) 18:06, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Blaze The Movie Fan: No worries, remember we are the encyclopedia where anyone can edit :D Semi-Protection may not have been around much or at all last time you were here - it is a special protection level that only applies to anonymous and very new users; normally applied to stop strict vandalism. For what it is worth, I don't really have an opinion on if that content would have made that article better or worse - but it certainly wasn't vandalism. Any edit is subject to the WP:BRD cycle and since the SPP led that attempted edit to the talk page, continuing it there instead of BRD on the article is likely the best course of action now. Happy editing, — xaosflux Talk 19:14, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Xaosflux. Would it be possible to get some closure on my request for template editor rights at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Template editor#User:AlexTheWhovian? No one has commented or made further progress on it for about a week now. Thank you! Alex|The|Whovian 23:57, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
