Hey, have you requested/got answer for the KRS-One photo I showed? Woop-Woop That's the sound of da Police 10:15, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia has a new administrator!
Thank you bunches!
Thank you so much for suppporting my RfA. I was promoted with a total of (44/1/0) - a vote of confidence from the community that I find humbling and motivating. I will not abuse your trust. Look forward to working with you! (Esprit15d 21:47, 5 November 2007 (UTC)) |
Tha Carter III cover
Definitely fake, MediaTakeOut is a joke lol. I ran it through Photoshop and you could easily see someone just rendered those areas a different color from the old original cover that was leaked. --Ayoleftyz 21:44, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
List of 50 Cent awards
I see from your RfA nom that you're knowledgeable in areas relating to 50 Cent. Some time ago, I revamped the List of 50 Cent awards page by converting all the info to tables, which you revamped one again here, which is much better than my version, BTW. I worked along Neranei (talk · contribs) to bring List of U2 awards to Featured List quality (the work was mostly from her part, of course). I think this one has a lot of potential. Would you be willing to address concerns if I nominated it to FL status (hypothetically, of course)? Happy editing! --Agüeybaná 22:05, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent! Give me some time to write the nom, and I'll alert you when it's ready. --Agüeybaná 22:15, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, not at all. In fact, the ones who worked on the page are the ones technically responsible for addressing concerns. They're also allowed to support the nomination. --Agüeybaná 22:20, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've finished the article. I added sources and copy-edited it. I also supported the nom, as it has already been nominated to FLC status. Happy editing! --Agüeybaná 23:41, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Why is "gold" redundant? As far as I know, gold is not the same as platinum :-) --Agüeybaná 23:50, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal... | ||
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:57, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Spellcast,
Just to let you know if you ever see any edits on Craig David's Wiki page from me they will always be genuine.
I do a lot official online work for Craig and his team so all of my edits will always be fine.
Edit: Update. Why do you keep removing the promotional image from Craig's page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by NickHSpurs (talk • contribs) 13:34, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

I see your point on the trivia section, and although I don't entirely agree, I completely see where you are coming from. I think trivia makes an artist more "human" and gives bits of information that a reader may find interesting, that they may otherwise never get to read about. Thanks for being POLITE! Actually I DO HAVE a few questions that would be useful to know the answer to.
1. How do you cite sources per Wikipedia standards?
2. How do you insert the little "Citation Needed" notation in articles?
3. What is the procedure for requesting additional help on an article?
THANK YOU!
Skyler Morgan 01:30, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Ouch, yes! Charts-cruft, Fancruft, Listcruft, you name it. This needs to go ASAP - all this separation of countries, etc - reeks of POV as well. There is no reason to go beyond what her regular discography already has... aside from the fact that it sets a horrible precedent - imagine one of these pages for all the pop/R&B divas? Yikes! Aren't you an admin now? [1] KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 09:43, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Steve. Yeah I am, but I'm still a bit new to this. I'm really tempted to do a 6 month block since it's a school. But at the risk of doing an overly-long block, I'm letting someone else do it ;) Spellcast (talk) 09:48, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ahem, be BOLD. :P Besides 99% of actions you do as an admin are reversible so no real harm. You should look at my block log lol. Although when I first got my tools I was hesitant to enforce long term blocks too. If I may suggest, this is my opinion(s) on the matter. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 09:52, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Avoiding redirects
Re: this edit:
Fair enough - I wasn't aware of that guideline. However, my personal view is that I don't like seeing unnecessary links to redirects - it smacks of carelessness as though the editor hasn't checked the link (though I'm occasionally guily of this myself.) In this situation, I don't see that Napolean will be developed into a separate article, except as possible a future disambiguation page in which case any links will need to be updated anyway. However I'm not going bothered enough to get into a revert war about it ;-) – Tivedshambo (talk) 12:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

That's funny...
Either my IP is a shared IP, or Wikipedia hiccuped. I went to Wikipedia, and found myself linked to this(through a message informing me I had a new message). I know it wasn't me, but it's still kinda funny--Vercalos (talk) 05:45, 20 November 2007
- Ok just admit it...you were the IP that blanked the page :P But seriously though, I never thought someone would contact me for an edit I made in April this year. I guess no edit in Wikipedia goes unseen! Spellcast (talk) 06:28, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Heh. I didn't even notice the date. Strange that I didn't receive any notification of a message until the 20th of this month. Maybe my IP address changed?--Vercalos (talk) 06:49, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Your RC cleanup
Hey Excirial, I see you a lot at RC patrol. You're definitely one of the finest vandal fighters I've come across. I'd give you a barnstar but it's too clichéd. So I'm just letting you know that every revert and report is really appreciated. I'm sure you will be a great asset with the tools one day. Cheers! Spellcast (talk) 09:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- And all your aiv reports have been great, I see an admin in the making! --Chris 09:04, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- (Becomes tomato red) Not so fast people, i didn't even recover from blushing from the previous compliment! Well, what can i say? I think: "Thanks a lot for the compliments, and glad to help!" Will fit in here just fine! I love doing this vandalism patrol, and perhaps i will issue an RFA someday. Not yet, since my account has been only 1 month old (Even though i have been around since March 2006 on IP level, but not exactly active). Perhaps some time in the future, when i have encountered more of the wikipedia guidelines. Im still quite green on those, and i want to make sure i know them more thoroughly before i request adminship :) --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 09:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Maleflixxx Television
I noticed that you deleted the article, Maleflixxx Television and I would like to know why you did this. Yes, I understand that this article was deleted before and was created again, but what you may or may not know is that there was never a discussion whatsoever done on this article for it to be deleted in the first place. It was deleted completely out of the blue with no discussion done on it before hand and this is completely unfair. This is a completely ligitamit and notable article that was deleted for no reason because I'm sure some user out there has a personal problem with the context of the article which is no reason for it to be deleted. I suggest the article be created again and if someone objects then a discussion for deletion be done on it, but no way should it just be deleted out of the blue like that again. MusiMax (talk) 16:48, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
And adding to that, the new article did give references to why it was notable as well. So the argument that no references and it being not notable was mute with the new article because it did have both. MusiMax (talk) 17:20, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Just because Channel Zero Inc. was deleted, that doesn't mean that everything associated with it be deleted as well. That discussion was for Channel Zero Inc., not for any of the other articles. Channel Zero was deleted but you leave the other ones alone unless a discussion is made for that specific article. All of these articles need to be put back. This is absolutely ridiculous. MusiMax (talk) 15:51, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi the reason why I deleted it is simply because it is not true, there is no evidence at all that any money was stolen and the user (Lanifex) is trying to find conspiracy when no conspiracy is present, I can give you more details if you want to email me at tom.stubbs@nus.org.uk I am fed up with the mis information that he's giving out. I witnessed the accounts, I know whats going on!
Inapropriate content
Hello! You recently deleted an article titled How to hack school website security blocks. The same user who created that article also created a very similar article titled The ratton password. He is editing these articles under his unregistered IP (86.141.230.124 (talk · contribs)) as well as his username Mattj5095 (talk · contribs). I placed a speedy delete tag on both articles but the second one isn't deleted yet. I also placed a warning on both talk pages of the user. I don't know if he deserves a short "cooling down" block or just a stern warning for recreating deleted material but he might turn out to be a nuissance. SWik78 (talk) 18:59, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

stop and desist notices
So I'm browsing an other topic & page says I've got a message (?) You were a contributor, said stop messing with the satan page, but really have no idea what you mean or if I will have this IP address again ever. (the complaint was directed to 81.129.117.15. blogspot
No, looks like a variety of "subdomains" are listed on the blacklist here, I just archived it as it was over a week old and the page was in desperate need of getting under control. Dirk is now monitoring it I think. In practice it doesn't look like anyone actually listed anything - I think the whole domain would have people screaming! If you want me to list the ones you flagged...
/thinks - yes, do you want me to bring it back and list those you mentioned - I guess we got sidetracked on to the general point and away from the specific? Let me know - cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:07, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I have no problem listing counting-crows.blogspot.com based on that evidence - as you say it really was spammed quite a bit and that is what the list is for. It is a hard balance between putting in sites that really are quite infrequent link placers and those that are so obviously a nuisance anyone would do it.
- Let me know, the crows one happily, the others if you feel strongly - your call, cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:20, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- No problem, again if you see something up & coming it can always be listed for a month say till the fuss is over, saves tedious reversions. You know where I am - cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:33, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Regarding international charts in discography
WP policy states AfD is only conclusive as to whether or not the subject article should be deleted or kept. Per the guidelines, merge is only a recommendation, not a mandate. Actual realization of a merge, if recommended, is still discretionary.
"An AFD decision is either to 'keep' or 'delete' the article. AFD discussions which fail to reach rough consensus default to 'keep'. The AFD decision may also include a strong recommendation for an additional action such as a 'merge' or 'redirect'." --WP:GD
Note that the recommendation for additional action is optional, and constitutes no more than a "strong recommendation".
To put it precisely, you characterized it as "Result of AfD was delete, not merge." But actually, the result of the AfD was delete, not keep. The decision does not preclude merging some content.
Even a recommendation to merge is itself a recommendation to delete. But a consensus for deletion is not a recommendation not to merge.
Adding content to another article from a previously deleted atricle is consistent with policy. AfD deletion is not a lifetime ban of any and all of the content of the article. Am I wrong about the policy? Thanks for discussing. Bsherr (talk) 06:43, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you'd actually like to discuss content, is there a specific reason you oppose international charts in articles? I think you mentioned that it is because they comprise less than 1% of CD sales. If so, I'd be happy to provide information showing that the top five countries account for only a little over half of album sales. Other markets are more substantial than you give credit. Hope we can come to an arrangement. Bsherr (talk) 07:03, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Requesting your expertise and Commons account
Hello, the image of the WP:HH got deleted from Commons. This image was being used in the userbox and project template.
Here it is the diff.
Another user added another image of breakdancing, but I think it was more appropriate the image that got deleted. Check it if you can do something about it. Reply here, thank you.--Tasc0 23:35, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've brought up the issue at the Commons help desk. Hopefully this can be sorted out. I'll keep you posted. Spellcast (talk) 07:59, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

- You can check out the thread at Help desk#Image:Breakdance-oldschool.png. Apparently the uploader was "User:Jean-no". I'm about to type up a message to him. Spellcast (talk) 22:28, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- I do not know where did Lupo get the image that was deleted was a smaller version of Image:Breakdance oldschool.jpg.
- I think we can use this one now. I didn't know there was another copy of it. Tell me what you think. Ask it there, maybe.--Tasc0 04:58, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well Image:Breakdance oldschool.jpg is under a license that allows you modify it. So you can probably create a PNG version of it as long as you show that it came from the jpg one. Apparently the PNG format is preferred but I can't tell any difference. Spellcast (talk) 05:01, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Because it is a drawning, not a shot. But I'm guessing you got to process the image. Because it would make no difference if I just change the file extension.
- I'm going to use this image for the WP:HH-related templates. But I will wait to the thread you created, I want to see what they have to say.--Tasc0 05:38, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- If there's no response in a day, just upload your own version. Just make sure you show that it came from the JPG one otherwise it could get deleted again. Spellcast (talk) 05:40, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Why would I upload a new version when we have this one already?--Tasc0 05:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- I thought you may have wanted to upload it under a PNG file because it's preferred for drawings. But it doesn't really matter, the JPG one if fine too. Spellcast (talk) 05:51, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I added the image to Template:WikiProject_hip_hop. Would you mind adding Image:Breakdance oldschool.jpg to your Commons' watchlist? Thanks.--Tasc0 04:32, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

- Also, The Gangsta, The Killa & The Dope Dealer could be official. On Amazon, it says it was released by Priority Records. Spellcast (talk) 01:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, how exactly did you find out the image was restored back?
- Regarding the album article. How come there's no promotion what so ever and just released the album hoping everybody will buy it. I think this was released just by the label and with out advicing the group (ex)members. Just think of the fact that Mack 10 is not a member of the group anymore and the group itself it's not active since 2003.
- If they're coming back, at least Ice Cube and WC, there must be some type of promotion. This is a very similar situation like the "last" album by Above the Law, which wasn't official either.--Tasc0 03:02, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I wouldn't be surprised if the group weren't advised. But if it was released by their label, it should be considered official. Spellcast (talk) 03:12, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- You didn't say how did you find out the image in PNG version was restored.
- There's also a Mack 10 compilation album, also released on the same record label and with a front cover pretty similar to the Westside Connection album. Amazon
- This is clearly an attemp of the record label to earn some money, since those tracks were already recorded. I suggest you to reconsider your opinion.
- By the way, I have this anonymous user who keeps chaging the name of some songs. Here he is. Do I actually gotta report him to the Noticeboard or you can handle it from here? Thank you.--Tasc0 03:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I found out the PNG version was restored after logging into Commons today. And I agree the album doesn't seem too notable. There's not much you can write about it, but if it was released by their label, then it should be official. You can take it to WP:AFD if you want. And All Music Guide spells it as "G's & Loc's" and "Wish You Were Here". But you say you've got the actual album? Spellcast (talk) 03:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I know what AMG says. But the back of the album it's spelled with out apostrophes. I can't post the back cover here because, like I said, it will violate the copyrights. And this issue is not a fair use. The user can't reach my by e-mail because anonymouse users don't have that right, and I'm not posting my e-mail address on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tasco 0 (talk • contribs) 03:56, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Spellcast, It's been the first time I have made a vandalism intervention request and I'm not very sure It worked out...the vandal remains unblocked and the article remains undeleted. Did I do something wrong? Thank you. --Varano (talk) 22:37, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- Cuold you please tell me were I should denounce such situations in the future? And besides that I belive Spanish Courts for Violence against Women should be definitively deleted for the same reasons that caused all this mess. Thanks. --Varano (talk) 22:49, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

- You missed transcluding the page onto the daily log, which was the only major mistake. I took care of that. I took care of one other glitch also. And I left one thing that could be improved, but really doesn't matter. GRBerry 23:18, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

relisting AFDs
Hi, when you relist an AFD, like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hedrick Cooperative, you need to remove it from the old AFD day log, otherwise it will still show up as being unclosed for that day. I've gone ahead and fixed this one. --W.marsh 01:40, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Will do. I'll be sure to remove it from the old log. Thanks for pointing that out. Spellcast (talk) 01:42, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Eton College vandal
I notice that 195.195.166.31 has done it again - however, the address is assigned to Eton, and, who knows, Will Hillgarth may be a real person, even though apparently not notable enough to show up on Google... I have reverted him. Any suggestions? Jpaulm (talk) 02:24, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your feedback. I have raised the issue of requiring contributors to register but got shot down. However, I now get a sinking feeling every time I see a numeric IP address in my watchlist as I suspect 60-70% of such updates are vandalism. Is there a way to get some kind of survey done? Jpaulm 14:48, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Blacklist
Thanks for the additions to the blacklist - can I ask that you to ensure that you log these entries please. I know this only to well from experience on Meta. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 21:28, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, just noticed that you re-moved the article back to its lowercase "like" name. Can I ask which naming conventions you're referring to? GlassCobra 00:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- All official materials refer to the title of the song as "Like" with a capital L, including the picture right on the page, which is the cover of the single. Like User:Esprit15d, I would instead propose that we title the page per the name of the song. GlassCobra 01:54, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I know, "like" is not one of the ones that is applicable under this rule. See Smells Like Teen Spirit, Head Like a Hole, Smells Like Nirvana, Whatever U Like, Rock You Like a Hurricane, etc. GlassCobra 04:27, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm finding it a little hard to believe that a word not explicitly included in the MoS would trump blatantly obvious precedent set by all the other articles I listed. Perhaps we could get an RFC about this? GlassCobra 04:56, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

The article that you deleted had passed the deletion review under question of notability. Even the original deleting admin said that it was not a question of notability but one of sourcing and referencing, which the review agreed on. As stated by one of the current comments by admin Keeper | 76 that the article needed ISBN# and sourcing for it to be accepted. Once that comment was posted i did exactly that. The article is now fully referenced with secondary sources and ISBN numbers are provided as well as links to other wiki sites and categories. There have been 4 editors of the article in its one week on air. Therefore the problems of the admins proposing deletion have been rectified by both editing and the original deletion review decision. To uphold this deletion is double jeopardy! please restore the article, if there are other specific issues i will rectify them as i have made clear through my actions that i am willing to adapt the article to comply with wiki laws. --Birri85 (talk) 01:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello,
I noticed you speedily deleted the article Glued money as "patent nonsense". I hope you don't mind that I restored it because it did not seem to qualify as patent nonsense. I was able to understand the entire thing. I removed the original research and prodded it, but it was not a candidate for speedy deletion in my opinion. User:Mafiadollsauthor - User has only made a couple of edits and those edits have been to paste their novel onto their userpage. Would a block and deletion of user page be appropriate in this situation? ScarianTalk 00:29, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you for your time. I assumed it to be a novel because of the users' edit summary. In the past, I did see one user create an account to advertise his blog on his user page and he was blocked and the page delete. But, of course, I understand that that action can't be applied to all situations. Thanks for your time! ScarianTalk 00:47, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello Spellcast, I use Macromedia Fireworks MX from 2002. Daniil Maslyuk (talk) 13:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

- 100 is of much bigger size than 90, although visually the difference is hardly noticeable. Hey, may I know where you are from and how old you are? My guess is that you are from United States and about twenty, am I right? Daniil Maslyuk (talk) 15:17, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

- Your argument does make sense, but some covers just aren't available without a Parental Advisory sticker, and I'd like to somehow keep everything standardized. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Lupe Fiasco
I replied on The Cool discussion page and just The Cool is sufficient as it's what Lupe lists on his official MySpace. --Ayoleftyz (talk) 22:25, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Just bought a copy and on the side it says "Lupe Fiasco Lupe Fiasco's The Cool Atlantic 2-368316". I'm pretty sure this is sufficient proof that "Lupe Fiasco's" is part of the full title but they just refer to the albums as The Cool and Food & Liquor simply because it is easier.--Rebel Without a Pause (talk) 02:02, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Article Objectives of Spanking Positions delted
At 13:50, 17 December 2007 you deleted the article in question (Speedy deleted per (CSD A1), was a very short article providing little or no context.) I don't agree that this article was very short (there are a reasonable number of shorter articles at Wikipedia) and did not provide context. Further more, I was working to improve the content by adding external and see also links.
As I would also like to improve the content, what can I do?
Warmest regards

Open proxy
Hi - this seems to be an open proxy (here). Will you look at the block maybe? Many thanks --Herby talk thyme 08:14, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- BIG disclaimer - I am not in zzuuzz's league. However the proxy detection page shows it as current, the behaviour is consistent and there are a fair few hits for it as being a "fresh" proxy as far as I can see (this is interesting/useful too). I'll deal with it if you want by in general I'll not tamper with other's blocks (until I get to know them :)) Cheers --Herby talk thyme 08:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- OK. I have to say while I have learnt a great deal from folk on a number of wikis I am not expert. However the fact that this one is in the detection page as "now" means it is current in the database so - for me - it is definitely blockable as an Open proxy. However equally "for me" I will no longer block for more than a year. Discussion with zz and looking at info others have given me the view would definitely be that the internet is a changeable place (!). IP's get fixed, re-allocated etc. I've blocked for a year.
- Thanks for the "permission" but I would rarely change the action of another admin - cheers --Herby talk thyme 10:58, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

re: Bolding
Hey.... I don't think there is any official word on boldfacing album titles in discography pages.... personally I don't care for it and I remove it when I see it, but I think it just depends on the editor. I figure if chart positions shouldn't be boldfaced then there is no reason to be bolding anything else. And I'll check out the 50 Cent page as well, thanks! - eo (talk) 02:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:The Doors - L.A. Woman.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The Doors - L.A. Woman.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Bad move
You messed up when you moved the Big N' Tasty to Big n' Tasty. Let me quote the WP:CAPS policy that you used as the reason for the move:
Convention: For page titles, always use lowercase after the first word, and do not capitalize second and subsequent words, unless: the title is a proper noun. For multiword page titles, one should leave the second and subsequent words in lowercase unless the title phrase is a proper noun that would always occur capitalized, even in the middle of a sentence.
I bolded the proper noun to point out what you did wrong: Big N' Tasty is a proper noun like iPod, Empire State Building and Burger King and was properly capitalized, if you had taken five minutes to look at the McDonald's web site you would have seen that.
Please use your magical admin power and put it back to the proper name.
- Jeremy (Jerem43 (talk) 17:55, 28 December 2007 (UTC))
- You are not paying attention: the official name is Big N' Tasty with a capital "N". The product's brand name is just like Filet-O-Fish where the "O" is also capitalized, even though the capital "o" is a contraction of "of". Because the capital "n" is part of the proper name, it overrides the contraction rule. This is closer to the General rules found in MOS:TM, which cites Clif Bar is used instead of Clif bar.
- We are not dealing with grammar here, we are dealing with the naming of a product just like in the cases I mentioned. A further example would be the Scion xA where the "A" is deliberately capitalized even though it is not supposed to be in the rules of English grammar.
- Please fix it.
- - Jeremy (Jerem43 (talk) 20:22, 28 December 2007 (UTC))

Article deletion
I have to say I don't agree with your speedy deletion of Les Paul-100 on A1 grounds. Speedy criterion A1 reads: "Very short articles lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article." The subject is quite obviously an electric guitar and the article provides plenty of context to make that determination. The article even included specs for the guitar. --Spike Wilbury ♫ talk 22:12, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

You just moved "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to "Smells like Teen Spirit". The page was moved once before, but was moved back during a discussion days before the article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page. It was determined to leave the page at "Smells Like Teen Spirit", one of the main reasons being that it's the song's proper title and the song is never referred to as "Smells like Teen Spirit" by media and academic literature, much less on various releases. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Nas - I Am....jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Nas - I Am....jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holidays and all the off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks for uploading Image:Hustlenomicsofficial.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. These genres were decided months ago and this user is the only one that has problems with them. It's the other user vandalizing. Charmed36 (talk) 22:05, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Genres
The user changes the genres but does not change the music cats. He or she does not pay a attention to the article. He or she does not know what he or she is doing. Charmed36 (talk) 23:09, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Something has to be done about it. I have never seen genres being sourced in any article. They are chosen from the Critical reviews. This is what that has been done with all the articles. Everyone finds What You Waiting For? as a rock song, but it is dance pop accroding to Critics. Nothing can be done about it. This genre war ir getting on my nerve. Indianescence (talk) 05:11, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
The user changes sourced genre information. He or she needs to be blocked. This is annoying Charmed36 (talk) 20:32, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Another User:Gwenspride08 is doing it also if it's the same person. Charmed36 (talk) 20:36, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
This user, who is making edits through his address now, has sourced the genres in an odd way. I mean, there are trillions of sources which feel that the song/album is some or the other genre, so are we suppose to list all the hundreds of genre. Are there any guidelines for genres? THis edit war is still on and annoying. Indianescence (talk) 09:33, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Suddenly this genre thingie has started on wikipedia or it is happening to Stefani related article only. Another guy 87.196.0.106 is editing genres. Something has to be done. Is there any guideline related to genres? Indianescence (talk) 16:07, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
The user has returned and continues to do the same. I thought he or she was blocked. He or she changes the genre but forgets the cats. He or she isn't paying attention. Charmed36 (talk) 22:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I may be wrong, but i think 86.29.241.91 is User:Gwenspride08. What say? Indianescence (talk) 07:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

300px = Best cover resolution?
Hi Spellcast. I noticed you posted a comment on my talk page a couple weeks ago saying that 300px is the best cover resolution, and anything lower is redundant. How come it's 300px if the cover automatically shows up as 200px? Based on this, shouldn't 200px be the best cover resolution? Rappingwonders (talk) 21:51, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Breeding to a draft horse
Hi, Spellcast. I noticed you just deleted Breeding to a draft horse, claiming it was a blatant copyright infringement. I suspected this too, so I did a Google search and found this Word document (Google cache), from which the text of this article was obviously directly copied. But the author of the copied text is identified as Terri Aigner, with an e-mail address of aignerad@cox.net; and the user who created the Wikipedia article is User:Aignerad. So I am led to believe that this is not copyright infringement, but rather the author has contributed her own (previously published) work to Wikipedia, which is fine.
Now, whether or not the article should remain here is another question. Much of it has a "how-to" style, which isn't appropriate here, but there are a few facts, accompanied with references, which may belong in an article such as Draft horse. Let me know what you think. —Bkell (talk) 05:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Brian, thanks for the heads up. I've restored the article as it seems User:Aignerad is the author. Assuming this can even stay in the long-term, it needs a lot of cleanup. I hope this hasn't put that user off editing! Spellcast (talk) 05:19, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- I added merge tags to the top of Breeding to a draft horse and Draft horse. Hopefully someone who is knowledgeable in this area will take note and be able to do something with this. I agree it needs a lot of work. —Bkell (talk) 05:24, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm certainly no expert on that too. Hopefully someone will come and merge the appropriate info in a month. Spellcast (talk) 05:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Would you mind giving a hand to a less experienced user?
I chanced upon Image:Cormyr.jpg, which you deleted recently. Its uploader, David Latapie, provided an insufficient free use rationale after being notified of the image's impending deletion, including a request to let him know if it was insufficient because he'd never provided one before. After that didn't happen he contacted the tagger saying that he won't protest the outcome but is unhappy of the lack of further notice or alternate solutions, and was told to do a better job with rationales in the future.
It would probably be fair and certainly polite if someone with the skill to do so - such as you - dropped by to work out with him whether there's a way to make the image acceptable. Please? I'd do it, but I've been <euphenism> ill </euphenism> so it takes enough effort to honor existing admin responsibilities without taking on new ones.
And to end on a characteristic non-sequitur, here's an old something about nuclear war if you really want to freak yourself out. --Kizor 01:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

User:Tgannon
I think it was a bad decision for you to block User:Tgannon, he in no way was committing "vandalism". He kept adding a fact without a source and then I explained to him how to cite a source. He is a new user who doesn't understand policies. This is a case of WP:BITE.--STX 04:04, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I understand but I think we should AGF. Perhaps he was scanning through recent changes and/or experimenting with the undo button. I also should remind you that he was never warned about that particular edit. Yet he was warned for this edit, which was just unsourced. On the Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower he did provide a source, which did cite what he stated (although unreliable). I think that blocking him as with many well-meaning editors causes blowback. This defines WP:BITE.--STX 04:29, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Funny ... I was just coming here to say that you made a mistake by unblocking him. I guess it just goes to show you can't please everybody. ;) Looking at his contributions, I can't find a worthwhile edit among them. But I guess time will tell. --B (talk) 04:54, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

As i had expected. There is a source on the net for every genre for Stefani. I doubt whether inclusion of all genres would be appropriate. I think its time. Can you please decide ultimately which genres make it to the article. Indianescence (talk) 07:44, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- That is fine with me. But the situation is same with all Gwen Stefani related articles. Are we supposed to repeat the whole process for all 15 Gwen Stefani related articles. User:169.204.210.130 block
Hi, a new Admin here. I was about to block User:169.204.210.130 when I saw you had done before me by just a few seconds. My block would've been for a lot less than the 3 months you applied. As they already had a short-period block before, I thought a couple of days (which extends automagically because of the upcoming weekendas it is a school IP) would have sufficed. No complaints here, just wanted to see your rationale for a harsher block. A newly frocked Admin wants to learn. Happy wiking! (you can answer here, no need to use my Talk for this one) -- Alexf(Talk/Contribs) 18:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Alex, I always do a WHOIS search before blocking. If it's a school IP, I usually block for 3 months at minimum. Otherwise, I do standard 24/48 hour blocks. WP:BLOCK says the block duration should be related to the likelihood of the vandalism repeating. That IP has been vandalising for the last 5 months in a row. So yeah, I always do much longer term blocks for schools. Spellcast (talk) 18:22, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Again, no criticism, but based on Wikipedia:BLOCK#Duration_of_blocks and that they only had one previous block for 31 hours, it seems rather excessive. Thx for the response. -- Alexf(Talk/Contribs) 18:33, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

the reason i put the game (rapper) at the top is because he is more well known that a harvard tradition, the only "game" not refurring to the rapper that would be would be more known by the general public would be the olympics which is at the bottom of all of the games...? im not biased, some people just dont common sense when it comes to importance of placing items with the same name, c'mon, the harvard "game" over the "olympic" game? ridiclous, since i cant do the site some justice and put olympics at the top of the "game" list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnny....yes (talk • contribs) 19:23, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I've got to hand it to you, you are doing a great job handling everbody's favorite phantom IP vandal. Just out of curiosity, how many times have you blocked him so far? I'll find a suitable barnstar to give you for this tomorrow, but until then, I've really got to get some shuteye. Again, thanks for the great job!! Regards. Thingg⊕⊗ 06:39, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- hmmm... I was pretty sure that you had blocked the same guy more than once. (He apparently had something like a proxy server or another way to obtain a new IP address so he could circumvent the block.) After he was blocked the first (?) time, he said something on his talk page about being able to obtain more IP addresses and that is was futile to block him because he would keep coming back. Thingg⊕⊗ 16:21, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, well, my bad. I thought you were the one who blocked him at least one other time. Anyway, keep up the good work! Thingg⊕⊗ 02:50, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Shady Records
Hey man, before I explain the new subject I was gonna rant about how that Dutch Product of the South article is not encyclopedic or whatever, but sod it - I'm sure you know haha. Now to the point... I've come to notice that you've got a reasonably heavy presence with hip hop articles - do you know anyone that can look at the Shady Records one to give it some sorta assessment. I'm working to make it as GOOD as I can have it (whether it's FA, GA or another), but I need guidance as to what more can be done (which I'm certain it still has a fair bit to go to achieve). I can't find no record label article worth of looking up to for guidance, let alone a record label guide as you get with albums or biographies. I added the banner templates to the talk pages recently, and no one has assessed it as yet. What more can be done to get it looked into? Random note: I'm excited about this article as I've not worked as hard on any article as I have with this one, excluding what's in my sandbox. -- Harish - 22:52, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey man, don't wanna sound stupid but what do you mean when you say CITE the refs?... I thought it was as simple as referencing facts? -- Harish - 00:33, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ah right. I don't mean it negatively, bro, but what's wrong with the current refs? My bad if you feel this is dragging, but in my defense I'm not that advanced as an editor despite my number of edits. -- Harish - 02:24, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. So all that's left is to make it comprehensive. In your opinion, what do you think could be done to make this article comprehensive enough? -- Harish - 02:38, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, y0! -- Harish - 15:34, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

This project is dead. Two members are not active on Wikipedoa or are taking a wikibreak. About the others, they don't seem very active also.
I think we should re-consider if we really need this project. The only reason it was created is because there was more than 10 members. The hip hop wiki-project cover this. You know what to do, reply here. Thanks. Tasc0 It's a zero! 02:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject West Coast hip hop
- Yea it's obviously inactive at the moment. You can put the {{inactive}} tag if you want (although a bot does it if no-one edits the page for a long time). Usually, it's better to build articles than build wikiprojects. Spellcast (talk) 08:11, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- This project should be removed. There is no such thing as "WikiProject for deletion"? I'm talking about nominating it for deletion or some kind.
- On a related: you didn't get any e-mail from the pictures I requested you to ask a free license? Tasc0 It's a zero! 00:30, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think WP:MfD is the place to go for deletion. But it's probably better to just tag with {{inactive}} or {{historical}} because more people might join and maybe someone would want to revive it later. And no, there's been no response at all about the pic. But Chamillionaire still has a new pic anyway. Spellcast (talk) 01:13, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Why would you keep something is not even active anymore? And let's say a member wish to join, he won't get that project all live and active.
- I honestly think that the hip hop wiki-project is good enough to cover this. If later the West Coast hip hop gets more attention (which I doubt) a task force can be created. It's just stupid to think this project even exist. Tasc0 It's a zero! 02:08, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yea the hip hop wikiproject is adequate enough. But I don't see the rush in deleting it. You can nominate it if you want but it's probably better to just tag it with {{historical}}. Spellcast (talk) 02:26, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- My point is that there are articles tagged with the project's banner. If the project is not active any more, shouldn't this be removed? I'm not trying to delete the page of the project. People will follow the link to the project and see it's not active. Tasc0 It's a zero! 03:15, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yea it's kind of unnecessary to keep categories and banners of an inactive project. Maybe if nothing happens for a month or so, you can take it to MfD. Spellcast (talk) 05:46, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds decent. And by the way, look at this user page User:Cosprings. He's linking illegal content, which is also not related to Wikipedia or encyclopedic content. Tasc0 It's a zero! 23:47, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Several editors link their blog on their userpage and it's fine. I'm not fully sure if linking your torrents are allowed. You can bring it up at WP:ANI if you want. Spellcast (talk) 00:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'm telling you about it. You're the admin. I don't consider it's necessary to bring it at the ANI if I already told you about the issue. Tasc0 It's a zero! 03:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Many blogs are allowed to be listed on peoples userpage, so I don't think listing your own torrents is different. I'm not fully sure if it's a violation but if you want, I'll bring it up at WP:ANI. Spellcast (talk) 03:19, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Can you pleae indef block User:Tasco 0? This was my old user name. Make sure you state that I requested it. Thanks. Tasc0 It's a zero! 00:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- WP:BLOCK says self requested blocks are generally denied. Blocks are only done to prevent damage. It's not like anyone will compromise your account or anything. Spellcast (talk) 05:07, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- That doesn't make any sence. Anyways, thanks for the help. And... isn't it time to archive this page? It's pretty long. Tasc0 It's a zero! 23:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Do you never read the summaries before you undo?
Sorry for being rude there, but it's a pest. I specifically said that to remove a statement which might be true is not fair, and I also said that while I don't have time to look for a reliable source for the statement, myself, you or someone else might look for it. Then, if non can be found, the statement may be removed, or you might contact the user who put the statement in, and question them on where they got it from. How hard is that? Wilhelmina Will (talk) 08:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Furthermore, it only had the citation requesting template put there because I put it there, in hopes that other users would be encouraged to find that source. Wilhelmina Will (talk) 08:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Did I not say contact the person who added it? Ask them where they got it from, and if it's a reliable third-party source, suggest that they cite it. If they can't say where they got it from, then you know it's not true. Any comments? Wilhelmina Will (talk) 18:01, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Hip hop
There's been some scattered discussion about it, but it's never really been formally decided, AFAIK. Some publications do hyphenate it, some don't, so it doesn't really matter as long as it's consistent within Wikipedia. Personally, I don't think it should be hyphenated simply because the hyphen is a punctuation mark used in certain circumstances, none of which apply to hip hop. But anyway, it's just more of a description of the de facto Wikipedia house standard than a claim about the actual correctness of one way or the other. Tuf-Kat (talk) 06:43, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi, can you please unprotect the page Poverty in India and delete an image which a mojority of users are embarrased with. An image of a beggar is present in the article and many users are opposing the image. Can you please unprotect the page. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 14:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- There is a consensus (not to tell how) to delete the image. So please unprotect the page. There were only five editors supporting inclusion of the image. Two were not actively participated in debate. One is now not involved, I am withdrawing, and the other will not be able to oppose this vast majority. So please unblock the page. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 14:26, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
I agrre there are solutions like third opinion. But you don't know this user Nikkul somethingorother. He had informed at least thiry user's about the vote there and now with overwhelming majority they gained the consensus to delete the image. One user is threatening to ban me if I don't delete the image. Now it is impossible to fight with this majority. I am withdrawing and so please unprotect the page. Dispute resolution or third opinion is not possible with this user. It is impoosible to engage with them in discussion, I am withdrawing from the circus there. There is no way except to remove the image. Please unprotect the page. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 14:55, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

deletion of Ironstone Vineyards
Hi,
I see you deleted Ironstone Vineyards. I think we should consider reinstating the page. (I haven't seen the original.)
Ironstone is the leading winery in the Sierra Foothills appellation in California.
It's location offers
- the world's largest specimen of flake
gold at 44 lbs. (The second largest specimen is 5 lbs.)
- gold mining exhibit
- the Alhambra Theater organ installed
after removal from the Sacramento silent movie theater. (Search wikipedia for this.)
- annual Concours de Elegance -- fourth
most important car show in the US each year
- annual multi-county daffodil show and
competition
Ironstone is the 15th largest winery operation in the US. The article should include information on the brands, vineyards (4,500 acres -- a big operations), winery operations, etc.
Do you agree?
Thanks,

- You've got it wrong. Published sources are verifiable. It's only "original research" if the source in question is unpublished. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:13, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Here's the flaw in your reasoning: If viewing the film and reporting on it are not allowed, then you have to find someone else who has written about it. An example would be to find a plot synopsis from Leonard Maltin's movie guide. But you can't publish as-is, because it would be plagiarism. So you'd have to "re-word" it. And as soon as you've put your own interpretation on his words... that's original research. By your definition, every article about every film or anything of a pop-culture nature has to be stricken from wikipedia. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:17, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Or maybe that's your ultimate intention anyway? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:19, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- And being "unsourced" is merely a smoke-screen. You've already made it clear you won't allow it, with or without a source you consider valid, because you consider it "irrelevant". That's your ultimate pre-emptive trump-card ... and a violation of the rules. Not liking something is insufficient cause for deleting something. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:24, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I want you to tell me the "right way" to describe the plot of a film or book. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 07:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- You keep answering with generalities. I want you to tell me specifically how I should go about writing a plot summary for a film. I can't just copy what someone else says, because that's a copyright violation, forbidden by wikipedia rules. So what's the right way to do it? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 07:52, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- It goes to the larger issue of how to describe something that is verifiable by anyone that watches it. Years ago I was told by people here that "a film is its own source". Now it seems they have changed the rules. Even though the content of something is verifiable, that is not enough. Someone else has to have written about it. That is absurd. It would rub out virtually every book and film plot description in wikipedia. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 08:06, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
This is not about some minute bit of trivia, this is a much larger issue. Let's suppose I'm writing about a film and I want to list the tracks on its soundtrack CD. The most obvious thing to do is read the list from the CD and post it in the article. But according to your argument, I would have to find someone else who would list the tracks on the CD. Right? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 09:27, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- OK, if I understand correctly, as long as the CD track list is also published elsewhere, I could cite it. What if it's not? Also, it sounds like I could watch the film and write my own description of the plot, and that would be OK as long as that description also squares with some published source's description. Is that correct? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 15:35, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- According to your interpretation, I can't cite the CD itself, but only something else that refers to it. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 07:08, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, this about way much more than this little bit of trivia. I'm saying the rules for what constitutes valid sources don't make practical sense, especially where pop culture is concerned. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 07:20, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you can't answer my questions about what's valid and what isn't, you might want to refocus your energies here. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 08:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- My point being, if you don't understand and/or can't explain the rules, then how can you properly enforce them? As an admin, the dilemmas I've posed to you ought to inspire you to ask someone "What about this?" You all are trying to apply the same scholastic rigor to pop culture as you are to, for example, brain surgery... and it doesn't work. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 08:56, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- I want to add that I appreciate you at least trying to answer my questions. I had a similar discussion with someone just last week, a "new" user who copped such a bad attitude that he was blocked permanently, in part also for being a sockpuppet. The discussion here started out the same way, and I thought, "Here we go again with someone else", but at least you're willing to talk about it, and I appreciate that very much. Shady Records peer review
Hey Spellcast, sup? ...I was talking to Dead Wrong the other day and it occurred to me he didn't realise that he missed the peer review that was done for the article (see here) when I asked him for help. He also mentioned that aside from copy-edits, he doesn't know what the article needs. So, after having just glanced at the Shady Records history, a few things ticked and it made me wonder when I last asked for help if you happened to miss the review as well or something, outta curiosity? I know you said you were busy, but I'm just wondering. Hope all else is good, brudda. -- Harish - 18:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

A certain user/editor on a certain Gwen Stefani article
User:Shirlthemanson isn't listing any sources (valid ones...not the BBC link) and keeps reverting the genre back to Indie. She isn't making very rational arguments either:
-and Indie was discussed already and there have already been REALIABLE sources calling some of her songs Indie inspired and she aslo worked with Keane
-..Im not saying Gwen Stefani is a full on "indie" artist FFS! Im just saying that indie(/or alternative rock!) is influenced in a few of her songs.
What I'm trying to say is...should I enter a discussion section in Gwen Stefani about blocking her or should I just try to go ahead and do it. (She's also been widely accused of being a sock puppet on her talk page.) --Narcolepticpathos (talk) 05:31, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I am writing my first entry on Wikipedia and I was not finished with it when you deleted it. I am retrying but it is long, I did not mean to save it yet, but I did when I wandered away from my computer. The entry is on AdviceDiva.Com which is a pretty large site and deserves a slot and description. You cited that it did not specify its importance, but as I said, I was not finished so that was not fair. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Murda weapon front.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Murda weapon front.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Can I Have It Like That rename
Ah, a little confused here. I was under the impression that we had established that the "Like" should be capitalized as per official sources found for the song. Can I ask why you re-moved it? Sorry that this is so old; I completely lost track of this article. GlassCobra 11:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Normally I'm all for the MOS; however, as you noted, "like" is an iffy case. As I said last time around, we've already got stuff like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Head Like a Hole, so I'll go ahead and move it back. As for that interview, that was several months ago. Hi, Spellcast. I noticed you blocked ThomasKrevsky (talk · contribs) for 24 hours for repeated removal of a speedy-delete tag on an article he created. As User:C.Fred pointed out, the user isn't editing with malice; he's just making newbie errors. I think it would be more helpful to explain to him the process in this situation (i.e., put the "hold-on" tag and an explanation to contest the speedy-delete) than just template and block him. I'd rather not scare off a new editor who's just made some mistakes out of ignorance of the proper procedure. Will you unblock him? You can reply here, I'll see it. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 15:47, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

- Yes you're right. Those were likely good faith yet misguided edits, so I've unblocked him. Even though he was told he'd be blocked if he kept removing the tag, those templates do seem bitey in hindsight. Getting immediate warnings probably isn't the ideal way for a newbie to start off, but hopefully this doesn't discourage him. Spellcast (talk) 16:05, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

My request for bureaucratship
Dear Spellcast, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I was a little miserable after the results came out, so I'm going to spread the love via dancing hippos. As you do. :)
I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. If at any point you see something problematic in my actions, please do not hesitate to call me out. ~ Riana ⁂ 13:22, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Song genres
Isn't there a limit or something per the guidelines? I'm finding the genre box on Tupac Shakur to be a little too excessive. And I think other boxes, like the ones on Jennifer Lopez, have the same problem. Please reply on your talk page, Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yea the template says to be general, but I think if the more specific genres are mentioned in the article, there's no need to put it in the infobox. The 2pac genres seem kind of excessive. Spellcast (talk) 14:30, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Should the editor's genre additions be undone? And what about J.Lo? I'd like to know if I was right before. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 19:21, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- For 2pac, it's probably easier to just say "hip hop". But I wouldn't mind West Coast hip hop being added because he was an influential figure in that genre. At the moment, I'm not too familiar with 2pac's biography, so I'm not sure about the other genres. As for J-Lo, I think those 4 genres fine. You can bring it up at Talk:Jennifer Lopez is you disagree. Spellcast (talk) 19:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- How's this? Are they supposed to remain capitalized or lowercase BTW? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 20:47, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

- I have 5 overall favorites. Fat Joe, Chamillionaire, Joell Ortiz, Nelly, and Jeezy(Nelly can rap despite what people say). But yeah, after that, my favorites switch. Hell, every couple years my 4th and 5th spots change. Joell was boosted up to number 3 after he put out his last mixtape then was moved to two, but then moved down again since then.Y5nthon5a (talk) 21:24, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Spgh.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Spgh.JPG.
First sentence in Reese Witherspoon article
Hi,
I've noticed that you reverted my edit concerning her Oscar win in the first sentence. Why not mention it? After all the Academy Award is the most prestigious film award worldwide and you simply can't compare it to the Razzie or MTV Movie Award or other "minor" awards. If you take a look at other articles about Oscar-winning actresses (Cate Blanchett, Diane Keaton, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, to name only a few) you will see that the Oscar is always mentioned in the first paragraph. So why not also mention it in this article?
By the way, I also put a comment on the talk page of the Reese Witherspoon article. At first, I didn't notice that you already had commented there (I started a new section), so I had to move my own comment to your section. That's why my comment adresses to all readers/users and not to you personally; I apologize for that! So if you like, we can carry on our discussion there, instead of on our own talk pages. Best regards. Dutzi (talk) 19:56, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

copyright problems
Hello, I've got a copyright problem and I hope you can help me. These two images I uploaded, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Darren_Mack.jpg and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Debra_Beasley.jpg are going to be deleted soon if I don't act quick. User:High on a tree notified me about what appeared to be wrong with images. I wrote on his/her talk page. I'm writing to you, because he hasn't responded yet and I'm bit puzzled about this situation. I don't fully disagree with him. Mack image actually has a valid source but Lafave image might not be "irreplacable" since she isn't deceased. Maybe the the image should be deleted after all. Maybe her image could be suitable if it had a different license. I just wish these images just will not be deleted, they show two notable individuals.
Yeah, I could fix this copyright problem in easier way, find answers elsewhere, but you're just some admin, and I'd like to get admin opinion about this, you guys are supposed to help. Thanks for your time. Reverend X (talk) 16:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism article protection
Hey man, last time I asked this you must have missed it, so I thought I'd ask again: could you, as an admin, please put some security on the Alien article please? I noticed a while back whilst I was browsing that it's often vandalised. I explained my reason on the talk page but no one's responded. I was thinking if you add the {{Pp-semi-vandalism}} template to it, it would be a better for the article. What do you think? -- Harish - 18:48, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Panagiotis 2007
I've known User:Panagiotis 2007 on wiki for about 4 months now and he has never made an edit that can believably be seen as vandalism. His favorite thing to do seems to be to update the sales figures on discographies and album pages. You blocked him from changing gwen stefani's The Sweet Escape numbers to 3.7 million when it says clearly and sourced that that is how many have been sold on the albums page. That source has been there since at least june of '07. Panagiotis did not stop when he recieved the warnings because he knew he was right. Sure he could have added sources, but im pretty sure he doesnt know how to do that. Grk1011 (talk) 19:10, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- There was no source for The Sweet Escape selling 3.7 million. The ref says 2.3 million as of May 2007. Panagiotis 2007 was given a final warning in February 2008 and continued adding unsourced figures. He was given about 7 clear warnings, all of which linked to WP:CITE. There's nothing wrong with changing sales, but he didn't give a reliable source each time. Spellcast (talk) 03:37, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, just to let you know. He was changing 2.3 to 3.7 on the discography page because 3.7 was sourced on the ALBUM'S page. Though he prob should have copied the ref from the other page over. Anyways, I told him to ask me if he needed any help with refs since he does get the numbers from somewhere. Grk1011 (talk) 19:43, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Attn Murderer of Steven1350's account
I could not help but notice your reckless disregard for the innocent user account of Steven1350, whose account was blocked forever by you. This is a very Jewish thing to do. Not only can he now not be able to improve articles by vandalizing them, he is forced to edit articles anonymously (and we wont be able to recognize him). Please stop being such a Wiki Nazi, and liberate him from his wiki banishment. Other wise, make like a tree and leave.

I noticed that you blocked User:168.122.215.156. You might want to know that another IP user, User:168.122.215.109 inserted the same name "Nick Samoyedny" into my userpage diff, and blanked the usr page of User:Hertz1888, who undid the vandalism to my page, and replaced it with that name. diff. - If he's not officially retired, then unfortunately the pic strictly fails WP:NFCC #1. As long as there's a possibility, it still counts as replaceable. This could be brought up at WP:FUR. Spellcast (talk) 08:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

An encyclopedia, or, traditionally, encyclopædia, is a comprehensive written compendium that contains information on all branches of knowledge or a particular branch of knowledge. Encyclopedias are divided up into articles with one article on each subject covered. The articles on subjects in an encyclopedia are usually accessed alphabetically by article name and can be contained in one volume or many volumes, depending on the amount of material included.

I recreated the page because i wished to save the text that i wrote, and i felt and expressed my feeling towards this 'deletion'. My time on wikipedia is being trampled by users who do not know me at all and have suspicions that i am the owner of yetol.com which i am not. This angers me that i cannot write infomation that is vaild on wikipedia. i am not try to advertise Yetol.com in any manor, the reason why i am being so very defensive is because i believe the page is vaild and that i am being attacked because people think that all recent changes i have made int he past on this accoutn have been mine, in which none are mine, i made the mistake to log into wikipedia on a public computer and forget to log out, only recently have i checked my wiki account to find rubbish posted by my account on wiki, I strongly believe that the accusations of my writings are falseTriippe (talk) 11:33, 26 March 2008 (UTC).

MedINRIA deletion
Hello,
I recently started about the software MedINRIA. As far as I understand, you deleted the page with "A7" reason. However, this wikipedia page refered to a software (not web), which seems not to be candidate for "A7". I agree with the fact that the description was pretty short, but very similar softwares have wikipedia webpages: 3DSlicer Brainvisa Osirix ...
May I ask you to reconsider your opinion, and/or let me resubmit it in a form that meets wikipedia content policies ?
Thank you,

Username block
I note that you wisely blocked "Hugedicks4life" for having an inappropriate username. Two questions: Were you going to post a message to that effect on his userpage, and what is the difference between a username block, which I was about to do, and a "hard" username block which you did? (Certainly a "hard" block seems appropriate for that username!) Thanks. Edison (talk) 14:05, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
