Image tagging for Image:Like Glue.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Like Glue.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:Likeglue 2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Likeglue 2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Like Glue.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Like Glue.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Crank That

[edit]

Hi, I removed it because Urban Dictionary is not a reliable source. It merely has a definition of what "superman that hoe" means and it doesn't actually say anything about the song's censorship. Spellcast (talk) 01:06, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I got confused with another edit. Anyway, the paragraph you added was unsourced. See WP:V - you have to cite your info. Unsourced info can be removed at any time. Spellcast (talk) 22:44, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Steal Hear, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Steal Hear. —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 22:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Thanks for uploading Image:Talib Kweli-Hot Thing.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:38, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your edits (moving Plot after Gameplay), as I feel that introducing people to the names and concepts of the world makes it easier to use them in the Gameplay section (as it was, the use of Andy and Nell in the COs section implied that readers knew who they were). - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 20:17, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quality reviews of VG articles

[edit]

Hello, I noticed some of the articles that you've placed up for quality review at GAN and FAC. Specifically:

While your enthusiasm is very apparent from your edits (and appreciated), I feel I should suggest that you slow down a bit. Quality reviews, specifically FAC and A-class, are quite time consuming. Placing multiple articles up for review is sure to stretch you thin and minimize your effectiveness in meeting the criteria. Many review processes have limitations (many unwritten rules) to restrict the number of requests from a single editor. Other considerations are whether or not you've made significant contributions to the article. This is typically a good indication that the editor is familiar with the topic and article content, as well as shows that the editor has already made strides to meet the criteria.

All that being said, I'd like to invite you to post questions and comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games. This is where the more active and experienced VG editors discuss matters related to article improvement. I also suggest that you reach out to some of the regular contributors there, as they have a wealth of knowledge to offer if you'd like to bring some articles up to GA and FA. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm not very active anymore, but I'll certainly do what I can to help you reach whatever goals you may have for video game articles. (Guyinblack25 talk 03:58, 17 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Dude, since you created this page Air Cavalry (video game), you should write a summary (using your words) about the game. --Hydao (talk) 08:23, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

About your GAN on Super Mario Galaxy 2

[edit]

I noticed that you nominated Super Mario Galaxy 2 as a Good Article. I read the article for a bit and there was an image of the cover of the game, but there is no screenshot of the game as to illustrate the gameplay, graphics or whatever. Good articles must include not only the cover of the game, but a screenshot of the game as well. Some free images are optional to put in the article. So what i would've done is add a screenshot of the game before nominating it as a Good Article. (TheLoverofLove (talk) 21:27, 19 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi- Just popping in for some unsolicited advice. When editing, there is an option to leave an edit summary of the changes we make. It is a good practice to leave an edit summary as a means to communicate with your fellow editors. It can help provide quick information to others when looking at an article's edit history or the latest changes on a watchlist. Something I do is to avoid accidentally leaving blank edit summaries is to select the "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" option on the Editing tab of my user preferences. Let me know you have any questions. (Guyinblack25 talk 03:27, 12 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Congratulations are in order for the hard work you've put into Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Personally, I'm always happy to see former Good Articles return to form. And even happier to see articles about older video games get some attention. Just wanted to let you know that you efforts do not go unnoticed and are appreciated. Please keep up the good work. Halo 3

[edit]

Hi SCb '92 - Would you have a few minutes to revisit your comments at the FAR for Halo 3 (review page at WP:Featured article review/Halo 3/archive1)? The FAR appears to be getting close to being able to close, but it would be great to get any final comments you have, and if you feel the article can now be kept or if it still needs more work. FAC withdrawn, unprepared per peer review

[edit]

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions.

Please see the peer review and address issues raised before approaching FAC. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:31, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Call of Duty 2, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sandstorm (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi SCB'92 and happy new year! The Risk parity article that you reviewed and approved for GA status in Sept 2011 has been placed under reassessment. WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre

[edit]
Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

The article 10 Pin Bowling has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

After searching for reliable sources and only managing to find two, I feel that this article is not notable enough. While there may be coverage in print, GameRankings shows nothing and it's unlikely that a game that received virtually no coverage on the Internet would have gotten attention in limited-space print works. By the way, assuming you read this, I do hope you continue editing on Wikipedia. You seem to make good contributions from what I've seen.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
