User talk:FileBot
Read this first Sometimes MediaWiki will report an image not being used when it really is (often in the case of page blanking vandalism), and the bot will tag it in error. If this happens, revert the bot's edit to the image, and make a null edit to the article containing the image (click edit, then save without making any changes). If you do nothing the bot will remove the deletion template in a few days automatically. |
Odd bug
[edit]Hi, for some reason the record for File:Mark Donaldson VC 19-01-2009 fair use claimed.jpg isn't showing that it's being used in the Mark Donaldson article, for which it has a very detailed fair use claim, and keeps being tagged for deletion by this bot. Do you know why this is happening? If it's a wider problem it may be best to turn the bot off until it's fixed. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 05:29, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed, you have to purge the using article. It's a known problem but the devs have no intention to fix it. Brandon (talk) 06:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Nick-D (talk) 08:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your message. I mistakenly uploaded this image. Not sure how to delete it, but I definitely will not be using it.

- It'll be deleted in a week. Brandon (talk) 01:16, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
File:Burnt out Panther Ausf G Battle of the Bulge.jpg
[edit]I am not familiar with all the mechanics of uploading an image and attaching it to the article and so I ended up doing both and somehow the two files are not linked. The title of the files are very slightly different, as the photo used in the article is titled "Burnt out Panther AusfG Battle of the Bulge.jpg" with only the missing blank in "AusfG".
I did add in "Panther tank" to the Article listing under the orphaned "Ausf G" image file - dunno if that un-orphans it or not.
The "AusfG" file apparently lacks a non-free fair use page, dunno how to link the two together. I manually added in a rationale, but was told that isn't how it's supposed to be done. If you can help that would be great! —Preceding unsigned comment added by DarthRad (talk • contribs) 20:25, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- The first image will be deleted, the second that is in the article is fine. Brandon (talk) 01:19, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
My Audio Samples
[edit]FileBot has wrongly accused me of orphaning the files Cherish.ogg, DontBeAfraid.ogg , SingHappy.ogg claiming that the files are not linked to any articles. These files ARE linked to my article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hokkyoku_no_Muushika_Miishika , Please do not remove these files in which I uploaded.

Mediterranean Sea.jpg
[edit]I am still adding some conent in the article Medieval Wars. I will be using this picture for the same purpose. Please remove the speedy deletion tag. Nefirious (talk) 10:24, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- You can remove the deletion tag yourself when you add it to the article. Brandon (talk) 01:20, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
You can delete this image War drawn chariots.jpg , I am not finding the right content to add this picture. Nefirious (talk) 07:52, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, I am going to use this file Warnormady.jpg for the article History of Weapons. Please give me sometime. I will make sure that the picture does not remain orphan for a long time. Thanks for considering my plea. Nefirious (talk) 07:56, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Bug - sending a warning message to the wrong user
[edit]Hi. I've just come back to my userpage to a message from FileBot warning me about an orphaned non-free image I'd uploaded. I didn't upload it, I just shrunk it to a size that was appropriate to a non-free image. The original uploaded, who actually needed the warning, didn't get any message. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 10:47, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- Brandon- if the bot does not do so already, could I recommend that the bot sends a message to the first person in the page history, rather than the first person in the upload log? This would avoid issues like this one, and is already the way that Twinkle handles the issue. J Milburn (talk) 14:35, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Problem with this bot
[edit]Hi. I just logged in after a year or more and noticed that your bot deleted a couple ogg files that I had created and attached to pages for the songs. It's a little annoying to put in the time and effort only to find out that someone deleted the page and now that file is gone instead of being put onto the album page or used somewhere. eldavojohn (talk) 22:14, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
