Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Del Shannon Sings Hank Williams, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. More Songs by Ricky

[edit]

You created the article for More Songs by Ricky but you did not cite any of your sources. In fact, the source you did use was a complete copy and paste of the entire album review from AllMusic. That is not allowed as it straight out plagiarism. Please summarize using your own words. Your creations are severely lacking and poorly written. They will continue to be moved to draft space until you can display better writing, editing, and use of proper referencing. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:37, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vic Damone (Album) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Vic Damone (Album), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Control copyright icon Hello Samchristie05! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 04:01, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Drafts

[edit]

Please refrain from moving articles that are in draft space to mainspace on your own. These are articles that you created but moved to draft space because they are poorly written and poorly sourced. Let the articles be reviewed first by an impartial editor. Honestly, I believe you should not be creating any new articles for the encyclopedia unless they have been reviewed in draft first. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited More Songs by Ricky, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Yes Sir, That's My Baby. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:10, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Del Shannon sings Hank Williams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~~2NumForIce (speak|edits) 23:07, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've also linked to some newspaper reviews at Talk:The Damone Type of Thing that can be used to improve and expand the article. Billboard reviews

[edit]

It's great that you found another source to use in some of the album articles you've created but make sure they actually say something of note to include. Those Billboard bits are very light and fluffy and including random quotes from them to fill up an article is not productive. And sometimes how your incorporate it into the article doesn't make any sense either, so I have to remove the whole thing. Thanks. Thanks for helping improve Wikipedia's coverage of early-'60s music!

Quick note: I added a bit to The New Sound from England! about its Billboard 200 chart position (with a citation to one of Joel Whitburn's books). Including chart positions to prove notability should help your articles get accepted faster — WP:NALBUM says records are likely to be notable if they appeared on a national music chart. pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 04:24, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed a lot of your file pages which were broken because you placed the Licensing heading on the same row as the fair use rationale template ended. You also added the licensing template twice and another licensing heading. See Special:Diff/1236833680 for how it's supposed to look. Happy editing! Jonteemil (talk) 19:52, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Toggle the table of contents 20th Century Masters – The Millennium Collection: The Best of Rick Nelson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

Copying from sources

[edit]

In your Draft:Do What You Gotta Do (Bobby Vee album), you wrote this sentence in the reception section:

Anaheim Bulletin notes that "is only just beginning to realize the enormity of his pop tentlal Motown Sound"

This sentence not only doesn't make sense, the context of the quote you copied isn't even correct. I mean, what is "pop tentlal"? And Motown Sound is not part of the review but the name of another album. Can you do a better job with these? Please read what you write and see if it make sense to you first. Don't just copy and paste passages. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:26, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
