Speak Now
Hello, Ippantekina. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Speak Now at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:12, 9 December 2021 (UTC) |
@Baffle gab1978: Hello, thank you very much for your c/e. I will take some time to browse through the article later. I have one preliminary question: Speak Now, the third studio album to be recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift,
Most album articles follow the format "[album title] is the [nth] studio album by [artist]". Why did you c/e'd it to "to be recorded by"? Ippantekina (talk) 02:20, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
- No problem. I made that change because the grammar in the first sentence was awkward. "By" implies someone performed an action to bring about the subject so a verb phrase is needed there. There's no set format for opening sentences in the Manual of Style and using other articles as templates isn't always a good idea. It's fine to revert to the original version; I did revert an IP editor here but I'm done with the article now. Good luck with your planned FA nomination. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:10, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

I recently returned to see a series of Taylor Swift articles having achieved FA status, most recently Fearless. Fantastic job on the article. FrB.TG (talk) 22:19, 10 January 2022 (UTC) |
This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 19 March 2022. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/March 2022, or to make more comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/March 2022. I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from two days before it appears on the Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work!—Wehwalt (talk) 18:54, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
Thank you today for the article, introduced: "Ignore this part if you do not care about pop culture—POV: it's 2009 and you turn on the radio. After some electronic Gaga-esque songs, you hear acoustic guitars and mandolins? It is so cheesy, but you can't resist the adrenaline rush of the refrain, "Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone," and you begin singing along. One night you tune in for the VMAs because pop culture is fun. Some moderately attractive blonde girl is speaking, and out-of-nowhere Kanye West snatches her mic and says, "Yo Taylor, I'll let you finish but—" Oh, snap, grab your popcorn fast. But your attention is now wholly on that blonde girl: Taylor Swift. You realise she is the author of that cheesy guitar-mandolin-whatever tune. Damn it, you listen to the whole album, and you find the songs insanely catchy with beefy hooks that engrave in your brain. / Main point: this article is about the 2008 album by Taylor Swift when she was a country music goody-two-cowboy-boots. Although it contains skippable cookie-cutters and Swift's below average vocals.", - the most personal intro I've seen so far, thank you for that also! Your first TFA? Enjoy. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:54, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

Addressed comments
Hey Ippantekina, I have addressed all of your comments at the FAC. Though I won't be able to do a full review as this month is just jam-packed for me in terms of personal, real-life commitments, I still wanted to wish you the best of luck on "Out of the Woods"! 1989 was the era that started my swiftie phase which gave us her wikiproject so I really appreciate your hard work on this.--NØ 05:38, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi Ippantekina,
I appreciate your support on my previous nomination, but it was archived as stale. Would you be alright with a second review to reiterate its standing with you, in hopes of it passing this time? Yours was the only one I received previously. dannymusiceditor oops 23:40, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- @DannyMusicEditor: I voiced my support after reading through it again. Nice work! It would be nice if you could take some time reviewing my FAC for Speak Now because it's stalled for weeks... Cheers, Ippantekina (talk) 10:28, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

Leave the Door Open
I saw you opened and have now CSDed a GA; I was the editor who failed GA2. As far as I can tell from the nominator's response, they have no intention of making further edits as they disagree with the review. I posted a note at WT:GAN to get feedback but the nominator hasn't commented about the prose at that discussion. I don't know if this makes any difference to your decision to not proceed with the review but I thought I would let you know. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:16, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Mike Christie: thank you for letting me know. I think your GA review was reasonable, and I do agree the article has serious prose issues, which the nominator has not addressed and instead is straying off-topic. That's why I requested the GAN for speedy deletion. Ippantekina (talk) 13:14, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

I'm curious
I really do have to assume you're a vandalizer. Why do you have an issue with the date only being a year for a streaming release in the case of "You Belong with Me"? Tree Critter (talk) 18:42, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
- I truly have moved on from making new edits to Wikipedia because of how relentless you are. I don't understand why you think that Taylor has re-recorded any of her songs before November 2020 when she said that she hasn't. In the case of "Picture to Burn" I can understand why you think the picture of her with the microphone is the official cover of that song, but it isn't. The official cover is the picture of her with the match. There has only been one physical release of "Picture to Burn" and it was in 2019 as a part of the 13th anniversary of her Debut record and the release had the picture of her with the match. Walmart.com and RecordStoreDay.com don't show images of the actual vinyl and that's because vinyls with that image don't exist. Tree Critter (talk) 18:57, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Tree Critter: if you think I'm a vandal when I have presented my arguments then I'm not here to convince you. What makes you say "The official cover is the picture of her with the match"? Can I see the source or the vinyl if you happen to have it? Because I'm only seeing the cover as shown on Walmart's website. Ippantekina (talk) 03:52, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- You already are a vandal. You’ve reverted Apple Music as a source and Taylor Swift herself as a source. “You Belong with Me” was released as a single in 2009. So it was probably uploaded to iTunes in April of 2009 and when iTunes integrated into Apple Music they probably didn't bother putting a month or day, but either way 2009. You act like songs cant have multiple releases. It was released as part of Countdown to Fearless AND as digital single at different times.
- You and I both know that Taylor didnt re-record any of her old songs before November 2020. How do we know that? Because she said it in an interview. She shouldnt have to list every song that appears on Red for it to be understood what exactly she’s re-recording. You act like you dont know what an album is comprised of.
- You treat Wikipedia like its your personal playground and it scares people away. I’ve been editing here for awhile and i always want to work together with people on here but you don’t seem interested in ever having a conversation. So i’m just not gonna bother anymore. I edit here because i think people should have readily available information and you remove that information why? Because the date’s not right? Then why do you undo the whole edit? Just because the date isnt right doesn’t mean that it wasn't released. Here are the images. Tree Critter (talk) 06:50, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Tree Critter: As I said, I'm not here to explain myself repeatedly and I'm not here to convince you if you misinterpret my explanations. A single can have more than one cover artwork and how is it not an official cover if it is used in Record Store Day, Walmart, and Tower Records Japan? I'm needing your explanation on that only. Ippantekina (talk) 04:41, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- Lol yea, that's what I thought. You're so concerned with being right you're not willing to have a conversation. You never gave an explanation on why Apple Music isn't reliable, you just said that the date was wrong. What a shame. I feel bad for Taylor Swift fans that aren't going to get valid information because some kid is too stubborn to be a team player. "ThE daTe'S nOt RighT" is not a valid explanation for doing something so daft as undoing a whole edit instead of simply changing a date. "ShE diDn'T MenTIoN eVRey SOng" is not a valid explanation for denying that she started re-recording in November 2020. But again, it's nothing more than a shame😌
- Anyway, those are secondary sources that use that image. Big Machine Records has only ever used the image with the match. The image with the microphone is as official as this image for "Love Story", as to say, it's not THE official image. Besides, I already sent you images of the vinyl. There is no vinyl with the image with the microphone. Walmart and RecordStoreDay use that image on their websites. The actual vinyls at their locations have the image with the match. But you can do whatever you want User:Ippantekina. Like I said, I don't care enough to stick around because of how insufferable it is to share a space with you, and it doesn't seem like there are many other Wikipedians that care that much either. So keep up the vandalizing🙃 Tree Critter (talk) 19:13, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Tree Critter: Listen, I can't help you with your reading comprehension and if you casually misinterpret my explanations, feel free to hold your grudge. A single can have multiple covers and the cover for "Fifteen" was used for "You Belong with Me", which has two cover artworks. The cover of "Picture to Burn" (apparently an earlier CD single) still suffices. Ippantekina (talk) 10:42, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- And before you assume bad faith again: I am not dismissing the match cover; I am saying that it is possible a song can have multiple cover artworks and judging from the cover displayed on Walmart/Tower Records/Record Store Day, the old cover seems to suffice better in terms of recognizability. Ippantekina (talk) 10:50, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- No, the CD from the original release didn't have a cover. It is impossible to find any physical release of Picture to Burn with the microphone image. All of these sources you're finding are secondary sources. The first physical release of Picture to Burn in 2008 didn't even have a cover, but the actual disc uses the same font and colors as the image with the match. Here: 1 2
- Honestly, I think what happened is back in 2008 the Wikipedians of that time just used the first image they found instead of using the image that Big Machine considers to be the official image, and the rest of the internet saw that and said "Yea, seems legit". You're right, there are multiple single covers for multiple songs, but the image with Taylor Swift in the bleachers is very clearly the image that represents You Belong with Me the best. The image of Taylor dressed as Juliet definitely represents Love Story the best. And the image of Taylor Swift BURNING a match represents Picture to BURN the best.
- And my reading comprehension is fine thanks, perhaps your explanations could use some work. Because you still haven't explained your issue with only using a year as a release date. Songs can have multiple official images. Songs can have multiple official releases. You also undid my edit that gave You Belong with Me a B-side. Do you think that the second track of that Apple Music single release isn't good enough or something? Tree Critter (talk) 16:25, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Tree Critter: I checked Country Aircheck (page 13) so apparently the match-holding cover is the original cover. I guess you are right! Still, do you mind uploading a PNG instead of a JPG and enlarge it to 300x300px as with other Swift single covers? (see File:Taylor Swift - Our Song.png for reference) Many thanks! Ippantekina (talk) 16:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
