CfD notifications

Hi, Anna,
I wrote you when I was just starting to become relatively active on Wikipedia, so full of incorrect assumptions ;-) and you said this to me:

"Anyhow, thank you again for writing. If you ever need anything, just ask. I'm always around."

Well, now I have an issue! I've been spot-checking proposals at CfD and I'm finding that in many of them, the category creators received no notification that the categories were up for deletion, merging or renaming. This happened to me as well in the CfD for September 11, I only saw the categories I created were up for deletion because I visited the page. This is startling to me because I was chided by two Editors when I filed a couple AfDs over the summer and neglected to notify the article creator along with big contributors (due to my cursory reading of the AfD instructions). Their words stuck with me.
I've posted notices this morning about the lack of notifications on the Talk Pages of the three Admins I know frequent CfD but they don't seem to be on WP today. Another Editor who is concerned about this issue pointed me to a discussion from August where an Editor complained that categories he created were deleted, he was not notified and he was trying to get them undeleted and reviewed again. But the comments from CfD users was that notifications was an optional activity, not required at all.
Now, it only takes a minute to go to the Edit History of a category page, click the link of the creator, go to their Talk Page, see if they are still active (and not a bot) and post a notice on their Talk Page. It takes more effort to put together the proposal for the CfD page.
I should say that some Editors who frequent CfD are excellent about this and habitually post notices. But I don't think they are the rule.
I guess I come to you to ask what steps I could take to work on changing a recommended step into an automatic step that is taken in every CfD proposal like exists in the instructions to AfD. Any suggestions? Liz Read! Talk! 00:14, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Liz! Nice to hear from you. You're doing great! :) When nominating a category for deletion, users are encouraged to notify, but they don't have to. So, making it mandatory might be something best proposed at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy). Anyway, let's see what the three admins say first. All the other admins are newer and wiser than me, so their guidance is best. Sorry I'm not being more helpful. It's just that I wouldn't want to suggest something that conflicts with what they say, especially considering that they're more involved in CfD. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:38, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Well, all I've received is support and one undecided (BrownHairedGirl) who said that this proposal had been made before but no consensus had been reached. But, for her own activity, she always post notices. And ObiWanKenobi advised me to look at the RfC guidelines carefully and not to rush the process but he was supportive. What I'm thinking now is instead of "mandatory", I noticed one other similar instruction guidelines that said, "notifying the creator is ideal" or we could use the word "preferable" (not sure if that is stronger or weaker than "encouraged"). But the language change is the first step, there has to be follow-up for this to work.
I mean, that's how it worked for me...I posted some AfDs and if some well-intentioned Editors hadn't posted gentle reminders on my Talk Page, it would have been a while before I realized that I needed to notify the article creators that were nominated for deletion. So, there are active AfD participants who set about posting reminders for Editors who overlook or skip this step. That can be a lot of work but I think it's a positive way to bring about a change in practice.
I'm not expecting you to be actively involved if you don't care to, it's helpful to hear your perspective of RfCs as you've been active on WP so much longer than I have. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 00:26, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
I like the idea of changing "Consider adding..." to "Strongly encouraged to..." or something a tad softer. If you do propose it somewhere, please give me the links.
By the way, I'm unable to visit your talk page. There's something on it that causes my connection to reset. It's a living in China thing. Just letting you know in case you're wondering why I don't post a talkback. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:44, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
The only unusual thing I can think of is that I have an animated .gif of a bouncing Wikipedia ball at the bottom of the page. Everything is just simple images and text, nothing fancy. Sorry it is blocking you though. Liz Read! Talk! 03:54, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
That's okay. It might just be a single word somewhere. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:02, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi i wanted to say im trying not to use resources because im scared of plagiarism. Can you tell me what passes for citing websites — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fishingforspecies (talkcontribs) 01:55, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Use all the resources you want. Take their ideas! Take their facts! Take what they say and put it into the article. But, and this is a huge but (think King Henry the Eighth bending over in swim trunks), you must rewrite from the source in your own words without copy pasting or even Close paraphrasing and you must cite the source. If you do those two things, you are golden. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:09, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

How do i cite a source lol — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fishingforspecies (talkcontribs) 15:39, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

This is the easiest way:
References go like this:
Rabbits are cute.<ref>http://www.about-rabbits.com</ref>
They eat carrots.<ref>http://www.rabbit-diet-info.org</ref>
Paste this at the bottom of the article:
==References==
{{reflist}}
Click save and all the references will automatically get listed at the bottom. Easy peasy.

Hi Anna

Hi Anna, i am having some trouble on the Jaipur Duronto Express article which has been created by me. Another editor is repeatedly trying to add irrelevant information despite my request to him to explain his actions on the talk page where i have written detailed reasons for my actions. His persistence on adding irrelevant information is pushing me close to the 3RR limit & his refusal to comment on the talk page renders the option of going to 3rd Opinion or Dispute resolution unworkable.

Could you pls help out here? Superfast1111 (talk) 15:14, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

I commented at your respective talk pages. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:30, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
The Barnstar of Diplomacy
For cooling down what could have been a hot edit war Superfast1111 (talk) 10:02, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

.

Thanks for your help Anna. That is one barnstar that you truly deserve. Anyway the other editor seems to have gone ease on his edit reverting & has moved onto the talk page like you suggested. We are now down to one point of disagreement so hopefully it should be sorted out soon. Superfast1111 (talk) 10:06, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Thank you very much. Actually, I'm still rather unsure about whether or not you are in agreement. I hope that last edit you made was with consensus. I further explained just now at your talk page. Best wishes, and remember, be patient, calm, compromising, and polite. Those things will win the day. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:07, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

The revert was no problem as i made in error on a mistaken belief. But work is still in progress & maybe we just maybe able to reach an agreement. It is time for me to take a break anyway. Having created 51 articles & revamping 6 articles in 3 months has left me a bit exhausted. Superfast1111 (talk) 05:17, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

I too hope you can both work together. And congratulations on being so productive. That's very good to hear. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:05, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Pictures

There is a picture of Ali Hewson here [1] can you find out who was the photographer and if he is willing to share the picture? Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 12:49, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry but blogspot is blocked in China. :( Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:54, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Ohhh, sorry to hear that... try [2]... don't know if it works for you. I wonder why there are so much things blocked there? Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 12:56, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
I can access that page, but there are many images. Which one are you interested in?
There's a picture of Ali Hewson and Bono at the funeral of Seamus Heaney - and amazing poet - and a picture of Adam Clayton with his new wife -that pict will help a lot to Adam's article, since is the first time he is married ever. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 13:18, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Could you find them? Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 13:35, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Some websites can encourage the formation of large groups with a cause that may start a movement that can get out of control and cause chaos. The government blocks these sites mainly to protect China's very massive population and ensure their safety. Considering China's history, I agree with the government's decision. I would do the same. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:13, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I get it now. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 13:18, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
I don't really mind it that much. But, for a couple of years, I couldn't see images at Wikipedia, and sometimes I get connection trouble. Anyway, all the sites I don't like are blocked, such as YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, blogs, Twitter, and all that stuff. I think the world is better off without those. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:31, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
I was in Facebook when I had Internet, but now I'm not. Those places can be dangerous. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 13:35, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Spider

Here's a funny one for you. I am willing to expand the article in the future :D Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 14:45, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Ah, yes. I remember that one. I started it. I actually wrote to the discoverer, Mr. Bond, and asked for a picture. He didn't reply. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:50, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Ohhhh, I must say thank you for starting the article. You never told me about it ;) Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:01, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
I'm sure it's the reason somehow we know each other. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:10, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
I don't understand... we knew each other because of Morleigh Steinberg article, you post a comment on my talk page saying that Cullen and I had copyvio in our draft pf the article... :D And then I asked you for a picture of her... Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:14, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Yes, but how did I find my way to your draft? No doubt, through the whole U2/Bono thing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:17, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Wao! Now I get it... I should have thought about that. You mentioned you knew nothing on U2 and Bono... so... hehehe, now I know how you find my draft hehehe. You are a good detective! Apparently, for the bother of many people, Bono seems to be everywhere, and when I say everywhere I really really really mean it. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:25, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Ha ha. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:30, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Now, seriously... thanks for the article, next time I can access Internet, I will look for something to add. By the way, he is [sometimes] a pain you know where for me. Now, when I don't want to listen to U2's music, I cannot even listen to other musician's songs, because he has recorded with Jay-Z, Rihanna, Tony Bennett, The Man, The Master... even with Jagger. Now, everytime I turn my music player on it always, I mean always... end up with Bono singing out loud... I don't know how... believe me, fortunately he is my favourite singer and U2 my favourite band, because if I was on the side of the ones who hate Bono, I'd have erased all the music albums from my PC :D... I am praying for Enya to stay away from him hahaha, I love her music. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:42, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Username

I can change it, but it is merely a joke over the internet, so I see little reason too. If people might really take offense to it, though, I will. Adolf Hipster (talk) 06:49, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

You may be right. I was sort of on the fence about it. It's in good fun, but at the same time, he did kill tens of millions of people and was a massive squid.
We could ask at WP:UAA, but why not see what a few talk page stalkers here think. They can give a rough idea about whether or not it's going to come up as a problem in the future.
Stalkers? Any views on this username?
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:00, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) My initial reaction was that it could be construed as offensive, and for some, it wouldn't take construing. I would probably suggest changing it, though recognizing it is a good faith contributor in question. Go Phightins! 13:18, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Not offensive to me. Probably equal to 'Satan's Soul Patch' or 'Pol Potluck'. My sense of humor is certainly large enough to encompass such usernames. Binksternet (talk) 15:20, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I feel pretty comfortable now that this won't come back to haunt him. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:21, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Would you please ask him. I'm just off to bed. He's online I think. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:48, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
The previous version was salted because it was all advertising and repeatedly reposted. While this version cuts down on the ad content, I don't think it demonstrates notability. Also, the only two good sources (Times of India articles) don't mention this particular company, just coaching schools in Kota in general. I don't see a reason to unprotect at this time. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:13, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
NawlinWiki, if you don't mind, I'd like to quoted your answer here in the decline of the draft. (waits for approval to do so). Technical 13 (talk) 17:18, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Help with deleting this: Wikipedia:Gay

Since you said you can help me, I request you to delete the "Wikipedia:Gay" page. Please tell me how to get a proper AFD for Wikipedia: pages, and thinks for supporting me.

Also, in the AFD, here are my statements: This article was created by a recently banned, then unblocked edited who was former admin. I looked at what pages it links to, and all of them are ether user talk page, AFD page, or one user page. Only 5 pages link to this. All of them describe as wanting to delete this. Since it is obviously of no use, I request it to be creation protected to prevent vandalism, and to remain that way until there is a consensus to find a use. Even as originally intended, it was offensive redirect, and anyone who is gay or lesbian ought to be offended to what it redirects to. I know I was. Thinks for the help, Anna Frodesiak... --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 07:58, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Wow. The page redirects to an article with a very offensive article title, on a different project nonetheless. I agree with your speedy deletion tag.
There have been are several suggestions to change the article title at the article talk. They were dismissed on the grounds that the content of the article is funny. Even the last AfD seems to miss the point that the article title is the really offensive thing.
The general position is "The title is fine because when you read on, you see how it's all in good fun." Lousy rationale. The title should be changed, pronto. It is immediately and higly offensive, and reading the content doesn't negate the damage. I don't think a title of a similar ilk would be tolerated if it it were about Jews, Africans, rape, or things about very small children. Not for an instant. "Sure, it's about child molestation, but when you read on, you see how funny it all is." Ha! Not for an instant.
Consider starting a page move post at the article talk. You can quote what I just wrote above if you like.
Oh, and the author seems to have been Evan. I don't think he was an admnistrator, not at English Wikipedia anyway, though I could be wrong. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:54, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
I know it is a different project, but I don't want to go to meta. I am instead requesting to be removed from En.Wiki, as it has no use. It will likely never have any legitimate use, really.... --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 10:00, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
I think you're right. That redirect has no business being at Wikipedia. Oh, and that Wikipedia redirect gets only one visitor a day. It's just a guess, but that may be the main way people end up at that article. Without that redirect, it may just get very, very little attention. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:09, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) schoolyard humour is just another way of bullying people. The meta article has been through two deletion discussions and kept. It fails clearly the policy there of "Pages or media files clearly irrelevant to the Wikimedia Foundation or to the Wikimedia editing community, unless they have a known and definable historical context." and is this a target for speedy deletion. However, I will bet that it will fail that route because of schoolyard humour there. Nonetheless I have attempted it. If that fails I suppose a full and tedious and pointless further deletion discussion needs to be held which will also keep it. The Wisdom of Crowds will speak. Fiddle Faddle 10:40, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Can you ref delete my comment on that case I just did, it's an emergency.... I regret it! --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 10:22, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

I have this page on my watchlist, and saw you asking for an emergency delete. While I know nothing about the case, it seemed to be a reasonable request to have your own probably ill-considered remarks (the link especially) removed, so I have done this now. Please don't turn it into a habit :-) Fram (talk) 10:41, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
I know, I know, but I didn't want to "out" there names, and I will not make this a habit. I originally meant to publish names, but I redacted it, but now I wanted it strike in its entirety, due to possible legal issues... Thanks so much. --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 10:46, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
There are a lot of reasons at WP:BLP not to mention names. It's a good read. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:49, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Fram. We can't access wordpress in China, so I was flying blind. I was at IRC asking when I saw you'd done it. Many thanks to you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:49, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
The Government of the People's Republic of China is in the right here. I know why, with such a large population, posting that cannot be verified by big mama (Chinese slang) is sucject to blocking. I just so happened to create an account on People's Daily, although it has moderates, which is what the Chinese have to have... --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 11:01, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
I agree. Coincidentally, I just posted above "...Some websites can encourage the formation of large groups with a cause that may start a movement that can get out of control and cause chaos. The government blocks these sites mainly to protect China's very massive population and ensure their safety. Considering China's history, I agree with the government's decision. Big mama? I've never heard that one. Translated, it sounds like the word for marijuana. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:09, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
As the article was moved on meta, it appears there is no use for this Wikipedia:Gay page. I am also requesting that if it is finally deleted, there should be a warning somehow implemented, I don't know if there is a feature that creates a warning recreating an specific article. If there is any, notify me. --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 12:16, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
It is back where it started. So the soft redirect here must go. Fiddle Faddle 12:27, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Timtrent. Certainly, it will be kept. Anyway, I've probably been overreacting. I just really detest seeing any group attacked. Plus, I've had a lifelong connection with the LGBT community and get rather upset at even a teeny bit of ill-talk. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:53, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
I fear it transcends ill-talk. It is the stuff of WP:CYBER I'm afraid. I'm under no illusions that the juvenile alleged humorists will win the battle this time around, but it is heartening to see that, this time, people are thinking. Compare the last two deletion discussions there with the current one and there is a marked difference in tone. This one might end up as a no consensus outcome. Unsatisfactory, but better. Fiddle Faddle 09:21, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
I agree. On the upside, it probably gets very few page visits. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:01, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Afraid it will have gone right up the viewing stats this week, but it's interesting how the keep protagonists are all "But I like it" people, and the Delete folk provide a cogent argument against it. I am especially not keen on the "Close the browser window" comments. There are several people who might, if pushed, understand the WP:CYBER elements, but I think I have beaten this drum enough for the present.
The humour was never present. It all reminds me of a smart kid passing notes in class and giggling behind his or her hand about smug clever-me-ness. People pick on Gay people because they think they can. They forget that some of us are educated to at least as high a standard as the redneck fraternity(!). And, provided we don't descend to the level of the name callers, we can present a damned fine argument. Our friends help a lot, too. Enlightened intelligent people will never run the place, though. Idiocracy will see to that. Fiddle Faddle 16:39, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Indeed, I don't see good arguments for keep. The "Close the browser window" remarks lose to "But the damage cannot be undone after reading the title." Thank you for using the term "gay people". I find the term "gays" makes my hair bristle. It's probably just me. It just sounds offensive. I think I read a few "I'm gay and don't have a problem with it." arguments. Well, let me guess. They're part of a supportive gay community and not an alone teen in a zero tolerance nation with parents who would disown them if they knew. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:57, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Ali Hewson

Hi Anna,

It's me just bothering again. Could you find the picture I pointed out in u2fanlife.com. The one of Ali attending to Seamus Heany's funeral? Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 17:45, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
I don't see it, and because it's at that site, I really don't want to go asking for permission. They know what their photos are worth and they're professionals. The chances are too low. It's not worth the time investment. Sorry. :( Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:31, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Upload image request

http://s388.photobucket.com/user/shadowxcelerated/media/LoadingSpin2.gif.html

I am the copyright owner of this file. I am also the one who uploaded it to Photobucket, ( and was copied en-mass all over sites) and I want it uploaded onto the site. Problem is, I cannot using Wikimedia due to invalid permissions (?) Thus I want you to save the file, and upload it so I can use it on my page. I created this a long time ago, forgot what the program was, but it was a trialware downloaded on my very ancient Compaq presario and I used it generate the file (time consuming process) Thanks for understanding, and put it under free content thing... --Lesbiangirl123 (talk) 23:17, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Just so I'm clear, it's the purple dot and you created it with proprietary software, uploaded it to photobucket, and now want to upload it to Commons and make it public domain. Is that right? If so, there are two issues:
  • I have no idea about creating things with software and then calling them your own. Did the software say "pick on of these shapes?" and then "click a colour you want it to be" and then "rotate left or right?"... etc? If so, the software company may own it. If you made if from scratch, then I don't know. :( You could ask at here.
  • If you do own it, then you can upload it to commons and then email in the OTRS permission form to show that you are releasing it.
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:16, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Cannot. I don't want to have multiple commons accounts, and it won't auto-recreate it. Now, yes I've set this from scratch. Unfortunately, I do not have proof, because I that computer died, crashed and my photobucket is the only thing really remaining of when I was creative. (note that most of the 300 images are not really mine) but I assure you I created this, and made different versions using the same program. It's also my most popular thing I've ever created, as one of them has 5000 views... and may have more then 56000, as a long time ago my account had bandwidth problems due to so many people linking my account. I remember getting 20000 views a week two years ago, but they seem to delete the views every now and then, and it is not nearly as popular anymore. Of course, just see my account, as follows:
http://s388.photobucket.com/user/shadowxcelerated/profile/ my profile. --Lesbiangirl (talk) 01:42, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Okay. I can upload it to commons on your behalf and then you send in the OTRS to show it's yours. But, the first issue needs to be addressed. How was it made? How much input into the creation did you have? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:48, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
To create a GIF, I had to create multiple frames, then using its effects to give it an animation. The rainbow one was then made from the gif I just created, then I added a different color for each frame, a process which required 10 edits per frame, or somewhere between over 160 edits, frustratingly process which is why I stopped making the series. It is kind of vague, but that's all I really remember. --Lesbiangirl (talk) 01:57, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Wow. I'm confused. You'd better ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright to be sure. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:28, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
What I just uploaded, need no more help thinks!

Got the page done, but I have a feeling it will get tagged pretty soon... --Lesbiangirl (talk) 20:08, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Images on the left and the right

Hi Anna,

It's me bothering again. I am updating this, and as I have a very bad interface of Wikipedia, I see it this way, so I was wondering how to put pictures to both sides of the article. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:09, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
It actually looks fine as it is with all photos down the right hand side only, unlike your own view :( Theroadislong (talk) 15:14, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Theroadislong can you take a screenshot and upload it to see how it really looks? Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:16, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Agree. I know what you're experiencing. I get that too sometimes if my IPS is slowing my speed. Unless you add |left| then the pics will be right. They all appear at the right side to me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:17, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Here's a screenshot for you (hopefully) File:Screenshot_for_miss_bono.jpg Cheers Theroadislong (talk) 15:32, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Theroadislong, it looks pretty good :) Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 15:35, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Multiple removal of categories

Can you figure out how to use hotcat to remove fishofflorida from everything i dont know how to Fishingforspecies (talk) 20:45, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Yes. I figured it out. Practice on this one and tell me how you do:
  1. Go to the bottom of the page Scarus
  2. Look for "Scarus (−) (±)"
  3. Click (-) (This will automatically remove the category and bring you to edit mode.)
  4. Hit tab twice. (This will bring you to the save button.)
  5. Hit enter.
Easy as pie. Tell me how you did? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:02, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
I am on a tablet and there is no tab button. Could you please do that for me — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fishingforspecies (talkcontribs) 00:11, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Jaipur Duronto

The other user had asked for a day or two on 23rd Sept. Its now 27th Sept. Any suggestions on how to proceed now? Can either of us make a note on the talk page & revert to the last version before you reverted??

Superfast1111 (talk) 04:39, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

No uninvolved editor has yet to work on it and create a stable version at the article in question: Jaipur Duronto Express. How about waiting two more days and then we can make a decision. Would that be okay? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:45, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Ok. Will wait till 29th September. Superfast1111 (talk) 07:14, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:49, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Anna, its now 29th Sept. How do we proceed now? Superfast1111 (talk) 16:31, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. My suggestion is to make one of the changes on the numbered list and see if he reverts. If, after a day, no objections, make another. Then more, and faster. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:35, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Two Questions: (1)Do i make a note on the talk page before i revert anything,if yes can you 'suggest' an appropriate remark to put there so as not to offend the other user? (2) Can i or you revert to the last version before you reverted ?

On a more personal note, how have you been? Are you based in HongKong? Superfast1111 (talk) 16:42, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

I would just make a single, small edit with a good edit summary and wait and see. He hasn't edited in nearly a week, so it's fair to start working on the article without getting clearance at the talk page. Just take it slow and do it bit by bit.
I've been fine, thanks, apart from the typhoons. I'm based in Haikou, literally translated "land of typhoons", known as the typhoon capital of the known universe, a place where laundry won't dry, origin of the hairstyle known as the typhoon, publishing center of Typhoon Weekly, home of The Global Centre for Typhoon Studies, and all around typhoon battered city. We were all hoping to go outdoors for a few minutes between typhoons, but it doesn't look good.
And you? Are you from one of those rumoured places where a huge yellow ball of fire is sometimes visible and where clouds don't move overhead at a zillion miles an hour? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:53, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Oh believe me, i know quite a lot about typhoon alley & not just those in South East Asia but more than once have wondered & felt for those who even under such extreme circumstances are driven by desperation to venture out to earn a living. I am based in Mumbai, India although i do a lot of traveling.

Superfast1111 (talk) 18:00, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

I have reverted to the last version which i had created with some changes to incorporate some of the discussions. Let me know what you feel.

Superfast1111 (talk) 18:25, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

The images: Lovely, thanks! You sure do take a lot of nice pictures. I'm not sure what article they could go into. There are a lot of sunset images and few places to put them. They're pretty, but don't convey a lot about a place. Also, there are those nasty timestamps on some. My computer will wear one as a wallpaper for a day or so. :)
Saaayyyyyy, there are a lot of object and process images needed for articles. There is a Wikipedia:Systemic bias problem. Many images are the United States or European versions. I encourage editors who are fortunate enough not to live in the West to take such photos and upload them. Here is an example: Ticket punchers. I would love to see the Indian version and perhaps a ticket puncher using one at Ticket punch.
The bold edit: That's pretty bold. Your edit summary is reasonable. Let's see what happens. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:03, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Those type of ticket punchers have never been used on the Indian Railways network. They were however until about 2 or 3 yrs ago in use on the BEST bus services in Mumbai but they also have migrated to a newer system. Indian Railways now allows travel on a sms or even a screenshot of a ticket. You are only required to carry a prescribed form of identification. Whenever a travelling ticket examiner verifies a physical ticket, he only scribbles across it. But will try to keep a lookout for them. Superfast1111 (talk) 11:36, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

There are millions of objects and processes. That was just an example. Are any of these the tickets now used? And does the conductor have some sort of hand-held device? Anyway, I'm just trying to put it into your head in case you walk past something that might make a good photo. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Yes,I can confirm that atleast some of those rail tickets are still in use. On the buses, the conductor does indeed use a hand held device & the ticket kind of looks like a printout you get a the local supermarket. I was disappointed that they stopped issuing tickets the old fashioned way. Superfast1111 (talk) 18:20, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Removal of description

If you add back the descriptions on the fish of florida page please cite them because i cantFishingforspecies (talk) 14:25, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

I restored the descriptions without citations.
It's my fault. I wasn't clear before. I had said that you need to "attribute in the edit summary". Adding citations or references is different from attributing.
References or citations are those teeny numbers that lead to a list at the bottom that supports the facts. That's an optional thing.
The other thing, attribution is different. That's needed when we copy paste content from another Wikipedia article. We're allowed to do that if we really want to, but we must, in the edit summary, say "ATTRIBUTION: content copied verbatim from Bunny", or something like that. If we don't do that, it's a copyright violation. I added those three descriptions with exactly that kind of edit summary. Here is an example. So, you don't need to worry about a copyright violation.
You deleted those descriptions four times, I think. I couldn't figure out why. It's a good idea to use edit summaries to help explain your edits. And of course, now you can see why it's a good idea to not delete posts at your talk page. They're good to have handy to go back and read. :)
As for future descriptions, well, there sure are a lot of items. I would expect it could take several decades for drive-by editors to fill all those in. You can write them yourself, or just leave them. I added three just to help fill out the column. It helps the software decide how wide the column should be. Normally, I don't copy paste content from one article to another. I'm not a big fan of it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:01, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
I would rather not have to learn a new way to cite though. If you want to add items and cite them you can but its hard for me since i just joined recently Fishingforspecies (talk) 21:27, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
Don't worry. There's nothing to learn that you don't already know. Just to summarize:
  • If you copy paste from one Wikipedia article to another, in the edit summary of the target article, type something like "ATTRIBUTION: content copied verbatim from Bunny"
  • If you add a fact to a Wikipedia article, consider adding a reference like this: "Rabbits are cute."<ref>http://www.about-rabbits.com</ref>
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:43, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks thats all thats easier than i thought. I will do that on fish of florida please tell me if its accurateFishingforspecies (talk) 12:16, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello

If you're not too busy, I am in need of an admin. I have nom'd the page, Special Mission Unit for deletion . Meanwhile, I have just learned that there was at one time a similarly page titled Special Missions Units, which was deleted. I have sought out the deleting admin and made a request for a temp undelete on his talk page. However, he has not responded yet (and has not been active for 5 days), so you would mind doing this, so that I may view the page? Thank you. - thewolfchild 23:13, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

Just so that I'm clear, you would like a temporary undelete of the redlinked Special Missions Units. I just checked, and it never contained anything other than "Special Mission Units are..." Were you just looking for valuable content to add to Special Mission Unit? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:43, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Actually, I nom'd Special Mission Unit for deletion, and originally wanted to see if it was a 'run-around' from the first deletion, (simply posting the same content, under a new, slightly modified title). But now that you mention it, if I did find useful content that might help the Special Mission Unit, I would feel obligated to advise the user who is opposing my nom, so that he could use it to try and improve the article (and possibly save it from deletion?) Either way, I assure you it is strictly on the 'up-and-up'. - thewolfchild 02:03, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough. Your due diligence is appreciated. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:12, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. So... what's next? (be gentle with me, it's my first time) - thewolfchild 02:20, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome. That's it, actually. Consider letting the admin at User talk:Selket#Help know. Then, that about wraps it up. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
But, I haven't (edit*)seen the deleted page yet. Where would I find that? (Like I said, first time...) - thewolfchild 04:44, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Delete what? Special Mission Unit? If you mean that, then you have to wait for the debate to conclude at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Special Mission Unit. Then, and uninvolved editor will come along and decide if it's keep or delete. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:49, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

No,no... I meant Special Missions Units, the page that was already deleted. I still need to see that one. - thewolfchild 18:27, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I think Anna's saying that the page's content was literally "Special Mission Units are..." and nothing more. wctaiwan (talk) 19:28, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I just re-read that. I guess I didn't pick up on that first time around. Thanks. (and thank you, Anna) - thewolfchild 20:07, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that's correct. There wasn't even a sentence. Just "Special Mission Units are..." Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:35, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Wctaiwan. My fault. I should have been more clear. I'll work on that. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:35, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Helping someone getting started

Hi Anna. Following the Bayan thing I come across User:Khiladi - Bengali Movie. Now, apart from any WP:U problems and not yet considering if the film is notable, how can I best help a new user getting such a draft going and into article space? Which template did you put on the Bayan page? Is there a good little guide you could point me to? Best, Sam Sailor Sing 12:19, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Think you need to disregard the above! :-) Best, Sam Sailor Sing 12:21, 29 September 2013 (UTC) (and there I thought I could be of help!)

Ah, deleted, I see. Anyway, you are welcome to steal any of the boilerplates or other content I have at User:Anna Frodesiak/Junkbox 1. Search "copying within" or "copyvio". Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:25, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Just a tip that you might like: I keep that junkbox in edit mode and just double click on the BUNNIES and such to make posts for user talks. I click edit once in a while to clean it up. I'm not sure how others do things, but I couldn't live without it and use it dozens of times a day. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:30, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Having this recent dialogue regarding a declined speedy in mind (how WP:NOTINHERITED was disregarded in declining an A7 is still beyond the scope of my ignorance, but do tell me, if you know) I strictly WP:AGF2 towards declining admins. After all there might, in the dense jungle of policies and guidelines, be a fig-leaf of an exemption to WP:FAKEARTICLE unbeknownst to me, but known to you with your much wider knowledge of Wiki. And as I did not know your kind personality then, I did not dare to make mention of the user name being the FM tagline for the same news outlet. Missing it was obviously a temporary misalignment of your mental radar due to the passing typhoon; I'll support you on that one. wink
I was once out sailing in 55 knots, or rather lying ahull, and that was an unwanted sphincter exercise, so the 80 knots of the latest Wutip must be frightening even inlands.[3] I hope wherever you are, that the storm now has passed you without damages. All the best, Sam Sailor Sing 14:16, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
I think you were right to speedy tag, and the rationale for removing it was faulty. Just my opinion.
Please, always dare to speak up, to me or anyone else. I do make mistakes, but I'll always listen and learn.
Yes, not noticing that copyvio was unusual. I'm a chronic and compulsive copyvio checker, and paste strings of text into google a dozen times a day at least. I'm the least fearsome and menacing editor there is, but when I find an experienced editor who's been copy pasting, the skies open and it rains pianos.
Fifty-five knots? Holy moly! I'm glad you're alright. I myself have had around four really close calls with the sea. The sea doesn't care. As for this typhoon, it's passed, but not without drowning 74 Hainan fishermen. Terrible. :(

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cannonlake ‎

This AFD is.. how do I say it... stupid. Can you close it as non-constructive? I would, but I'm not an admin... --Lesbiangirl (talk) 21:50, 2 October 2013 (UTC)Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cannonlake

(talk page stalker) Many AfDs appear stupid, and quite a number are. The IP raises a point about WP:BALL, something which is applied inconsistently. Rigorous application would suggest that the IP is correct. Common sense shows that this [thing] is already happening and we may as well roll with it.
Just offer (as you have) opinions in deletion discussions and move n. Life is too short to become attached to them :) Fiddle Faddle 22:09, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
I should only close what I understand. I understand this to be "...the 10 nm shrink of Skylake processor microarchitecture that is in keeping with Intel's tick-tock principle..."
You could scramble the words and it would make equal sense. In fact, you could scramble all the letters.
"...shrink in Skylake microarchitecture with 10 nm of Intel's tick-tock keeping processor that is the principle..."
"...the 1cip0 nm sng wihhitr ink of Slake proor micicroarcecepiture tt is in keth Intel's tk-tokyrih ceck pssanle..."
I like the last one best. It makes the most sense. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:17, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
The IP both being Hong Kong is what worries me. Ether it is a work IP or home, the afd can be safely closed as invalid. --Lesbiangirl (talk) 22:52, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I actually asked the IPs because both have a "signature", which is weird for IPs.
As for the fate of the article, I just don't know. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:26, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you! It's a nice article. I think teachers are revered here. I also think students in China should be revered. They are, by far, the nicest human beings on Earth. Just lovely, lovely people. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:37, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Question about copyrighted images

Assuming I have a non-free image and it is important to depict the same matter on 2 articles. What should I do and how? Thanks. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 20:21, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

You can use the same image at two articles. You must ensure that it satisfies the requirements at Wikipedia:Non-free content and remember that two separate rationales are needed, unique for both articles. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:41, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
oh, I see. Can you take a look at this just in case. I don't want to get myself into troubles. :D Thanks. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 16:58, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Hmmmmm, I don't think you can get into trouble. You are acting in good faith. But, the use of that image could be challenged per: "Could the subject be adequately conveyed by properly sourced text without using the non-free content at all?" Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:26, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
Anna, I removed the picture from the article and some IP reverted my edit telling me that the picture shws Ali at a young age, I reverted that back because it doesn't matter how the picture shows her, it is a non-free picture and it has to be used only for identification and critical commentary on the music video in question (Sweetest Thing). It was correct or not? Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 12:21, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

By the way, We had an interview for the Singpost and I won my first barnstar for the work on U2 related topics :D... I guess this is a happy week. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 17:00, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations!!! I'm very pleased to hear that! You deserve a happy week. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:26, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Article collaboration

Hello Anna: After consideration, I've restored content at my Article collaboration page. This serves to preserve a record of all the work that has been performed, and provides content for people to read if they click on my user page link that links to this page. As always, feel free to contribute to the collaboration page. Northamerica1000(talk) 02:41, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Also, I've somewhat revised the formatting there, in hopes of making the page easier to use and view. Northamerica1000(talk) 03:29, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Updating  Done - I've updated the collaboration page after reviewing articles in the "by origin" section of the Template:Lists of prepared foods. So, if anything on the list catches your interest, and you have the time, etc., hook up some articles! (Hint: the "convert to table format" section has many new entries now). Northamerica1000(talk) 06:43, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, Northamerica1000. I'll take a look. Sorry to have been off the food thing for so long. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:41, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Deleted page-not correct

Hello Anna Frodesiak, You Deleted a page/article with title Kristin Capp yesterday. I am user names Itapoa and am not using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" or for promotion. Please restore content to that page. Thank you.

Itapoa USERItapoa (talk) 23:18, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Itaopa. I really have to disagree. I think both of your accounts [4][5] have only edited to promote Kirstin Capp. The userpage bio was part of it, in my view. Also, it appeared as a fake article. But, I will assume good faith. I just restored it then moved it to a sandbox in your userspace (see User:Kristin Capp). There, you can work on your draft. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:55, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi

I changed my name again... Dark Mistress is a psduname I go by. Also, my latest edit to that article was to revert that IP removal of content. How does my name look? --Dark Mistress (talk) 15:00, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

It looks good. Nice, clean, simple, mysterious. It has it all. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:12, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Image

Hi-- I am new to this, so I apologize. I cannot upload an image what is it you would like me to take down? I am trying to create a page for my TV presence and promotional work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suzanne Summers (talkcontribs) 15:58, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Suzanne. May I ask what the image is? Take down? I'm not sure what you mean. Also, this edit wasn't a good idea. You just replaced content at some random article with your promotional content. I'm guessing it was an honest mistake. :)
Sorry for deleting your user page, but you were promoting yourself. That's not really allowed. While it is discouraged, you may create an encyclopedia article about yourself. If you think you are notable, prepare it in your sandbox after reading WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:12, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

That unfunny essay

Please see Meta:Requests_for_deletion#Friends_of_gays_should_not_be_allowed_to_edit_articles which will soon be archived. Comparing that discussion with the two previous ones shows how far their world has moved on. I was under no illusions that it would be deleted, but we have made a few more people uneasy about heaping scorn on and cyberbullying of gay folk. Fiddle Faddle 17:23, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Indeed. The request for deletion itself may deter others from producing such content -- so not in vain. But still remaining is that title that really does stoop to the level of British tabloid sensationalism, and that is a low, low, low level. "Got your attention?? Shocked?? Read on!!" :( Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:19, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
In a year or two a further attempt may just kick it out. I think the closure was nto a correct interpretation of any emerging consensus, but see no future in doing whatever one has to do there to seek to overturn it. I truly do not see the place of humour there, if humour it be. Fiddle Faddle 07:23, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
It's woof world.
On the upside, it will now get few visits as the enwp redirect has been changed. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:25, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
True. But don't you just despise the defence of "I don't care what your objection is, I find it funny!" Fiddle Faddle 07:43, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
Why, yes. I do think that defense is rotten. But then, those comments were made by humans. I'm not a big fan of humans at the moment. When it comes to love and kindness, I think dogs sit on a higher plane. The word "humane" is wrongly named. It should be "dogmane".
Some people feel like they're the wrong gender. Some feel like they live in the wrong era. I feel like I'm on the wrong planet. I'm not trying to be funny either. I really do feel that way. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:58, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, the planet can be a woof place at times. - Sitush (talk) 08:09, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
True. And right now, times are woof. Look around. You'll see the pwoof. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:19, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
All one can do is to attempt to make the little things better, and to pay any good fortune one has forward. That waay we each maake a small difference and hope others will as well. Alone I am nothing, but, if I attract on person who attracts another, and another, together we all make a difference. Fiddle Faddle 08:28, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
I'm not so optimistic. It seems that a handful of money-villains have taken ownership of the planet and its inhabitants. I don't see good will and kindless getting us out of this pickle. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:33, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Edits in Disk controller cache.

Hi Anna,

I did mention that it was an excerpt. Do excerpts come under copyright laws? Also, if you see this link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/solutions/collateral/ns340/ns517/ns224/ns944/whitepaper_c11-728200.pdf . At the bottom it states very clearly that this document is "Cisco Public".

However, if you still feel that I must write it in my own words, do let me know.

Anshulkoul (talk) 06:14, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Excerpt? It was a lot more than that. Besides, what is an excerpt? It's a piece of the content.
At the bottom it does not say only "Cisco Public". It says "© 2013 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public."
Yes, I still feel that you must write in your own words.
Thank you kindly for your understanding. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:29, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

I would appreciate your clarification of why you have "speedy deleted" my entry which is my personal C.V.. Please let me know urgently. Thank you.

Simin Redjali — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr Sakineh Simin Redjali (talkcontribs) 03:29, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello doctor. Please don't be upset. I explained at your user talk page. But to expand on that, your userpage is intended for basic information about yourself or your Wikimedia-related activities. Although a lot of leeway is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking medium, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, lengthy biography, or C.V.
Even established editors who put thousands of hours into building the encyclopedia would not be permitted to have such a userpage. You just registered your account and immediately created this userpage, and have edited nowhere else.
Furthermore, your userpage was a copy paste from your website which says at the bottom "Copyright © 2013. Sakineh Simin Redjali. All rights reserved." So, that would be a copyright violation.
Finally, you added to your userpage a link to your website where you sell your book. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:47, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Note for archives: Eventually blocked after 4 recreations and deletions. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:48, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Biographies about artists and scientists

Dear Anna,

it is just a biography and not a promotional material. Please do not delete it again or tell me where biographies about artists and scientists can be published? Thank you in forward for the feedback!

All best, Karl — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpetric (talkcontribs) 09:37, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Karl. I deleted it because it seemed promotional. It looked like a CV. I couldn't really tell because it's not in English. Anyway, a bit of info about yourself is fine. But, do you intend on helping build the encyclopedia, or do you want to write an article about yourself? Usually, userpages with such information are okay for editors who are helping Wikipedia. But, if people just post their bio and leave, it's sort of like they're using Wikipedia as a free web hosting service. Please clarify if you can. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:42, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Dear Anna,
thanks for the feedback! My intention is to build a biography collection of clother persons (friends, on job etc.). It is also for text analysis purposes.
All best, Karl — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpetric (talkcontribs) 13:08, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi Karl. Okay, I must know: is the content at your userpage part of an article you are preparing? At Wikipedia there is the mainspace (the encyclopedia) and userpages (like your userpage). Do you want to create an article in the mainspace? Do you want to just keep that content there at your userpage? I await your reply. Kind thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:19, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
Dear Anna,
at first just on my userpage. I must collect several informations. The progress will be more slow (depends on my sparing time).
Thanks for support!
All best, Karl — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpetric (talkcontribs) 15:23, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
Ah, you are working on an article about yourself. I guess that's better than just using your userpage for your CV.
Though it is discouraged, you may create an encyclopedia article about yourself. If you think you are notable, prepare it in your sandbox after reading WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
As you have made it clear that you're preparing a draft that will be expanded at your userpage, I will, as a courtesy, move it to a sandbox. Please use your userpage for basic information about yourself or your Wikimedia-related activities. Even though a lot of leeway is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking medium, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article or lengthy biography.
Thank you for your understanding. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:48, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

page set up

Hi hope you are well Anna

Sorry if i offended or broke some guidelines with my page - never my intention - i just wanted to get a page set up as a lot of people use this as reference to looking someone up and i thought it would be good idea as my profile is getting better

taking on board my last posts - how would you restructure the page? i am happy to see if you can adjist the wording to suit the guidelines?

let me have your thoughts take care rickyRickyonGuitar (talk) 12:06, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ricky,
Do you want to have an encyclopedia article about yourself? Please read WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide before you answer that. About your userpage, is your intention to have it as a way for people searching Wikipedia to find out more about you, like as in a promotional medium?

Did you inspect you addition after you clicked save? Here is what it looked like: [20]
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:08, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
I got it. The numbers are not english! I will fix them. But is there anything else about the edit needs to be changed? Thanks. A.amani.k (talk) 06:51, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Upon closer inspection, it is probably a violation of WP:FACTSONLY. Consider adding a summary instead, written in your own words, based on the table. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:02, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you!

For helping today...I so very much appreciate it. I submitted my first 'article' - and, I am fumbling a bit. Would *love* your insight ~

Much love, and many blessings...

Tara — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tara.lemieux (talkcontribs) 00:00, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Tara. Actually, I didn't really help. I just deleted your userpage then approved of the new version. :) Like I said, that deletion was probably a bit harsh anyway.
But, I would love to help. How can I? About Wikipedia_talk:Articles for creation/The Elephant Journal, the declining editor asks for lots of independent references. Please see WP:42.
If you would like to create an undeletable, easily approvable article, see Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images.
Love and blessings to you, and a very, very warm welcome. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:09, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
I added quite a few more independent sources - Huffington Post, Denver Post, as well as, the awards/recognitions with links. I'm hoping that should satisfy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tara.lemieux (talkcontribs) 00:51, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Hmmmm, I think the reviewer found it to be non-notable. It's probably best to discuss it with him. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:13, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Also, as it appears that you have a connection to the subject, please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. It's generally best not to write about such things. You could be seen as trying to promote your own interests. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:22, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
I saw that... I have contributed my writing to their site in the past, but I am not paid...nor am I affiliated in any sense, other than sharing good will. I have also contributed to huffpost... and many other publications, so I am hopeful that this will not impair my longer term abilities to write contributions?
How do I demonstrate the notability? As elephant journal has been a very impactful advocate of green economy - that's why the made the choice to swap from a paper based magazine to completely digital. It's a new business model, that should be discussed... any insight? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.112.75.238 (talk) 14:15, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
The best way to show notability is to find lots and lots of good media pieces that discuss the subject. Google news, Google news archives, that sort of thing. If you can't find enough, then no article. Your best plan then is to abandon the draft. In a few years somebody else will make the article if it becomes more notable. So, anything at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images that catches your eye? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:48, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of page

Hi Anna,

I've just been trying to create a wikipedia page for a new British social media network and you deleted the page. Was wondering why you deleted it and how I should go about creating the page for the business.

Thanks, Gemma — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gemma.guest17 (talkcontribs) 11:08, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Gemma. Avanatta is only a few months old. Wikipedia is not a place to promote organizations. It must first gain media attention and be written about in newspapers, magazines, etc. Then, someone will write a Wikipedia article about it.
Please read WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

Rev-deletable

Per your question elsewhere, yes those edits are rev-deletable. I'm also going to checkuser some of those accounts to see if they are socks and if there are more of them tucked away. Don't forget to revdelete some of the edit summaries too. Risker (talk) 02:13, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

I blocked all three on the spot and listed at talk a cross-reference list because it seems highly likely it is the same person. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:19, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks much, Anna. They were socks, of course. IP blocked for a period, but it's dynamic, so if this happens again consider semi-protection. :) Risker (talk) 02:27, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Why do you defend Nazis like Erich Priebke?

Are you a Nazi yourself? Only a Nazi would defend other Nazis. Not surprising that you're an administrator here, since Wikipedia is an anti-Semitic propaganda site that demonizes Israel on a regular basis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AchtMeinUchtNoocht (talkcontribs) 02:47, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Me a nazi? I'm anti-nazi. Everyone is. But I'm also anti-vandalism and pro-Wikipedia. Nazis were the lowest, most disgusting scum ever. But, vandalizing the article won't help. I'm on your side. But we want the article to have credibility. If it says "he should be....", it turns the article into a joke. People can decide for themselves. Also, the anti-Islam bit was pretty out of line. 99.999% of Muslims are lovely. Same goes for 99.999% of Jews. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:57, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Kilroy's on Kirkwood page deletion

You deleted our page because you didn't see why it was significant and that we were unambiguously promoting. I took all the specials off the page. The page only consisted of the history of the establishment as well as a rumor about its haunting. The bar is significant because it is a staple to the Bloomington economy being a main money-maker. It is also a local favorite among Indiana University students and alumni. I'm not exactly sure why the page wasn't encyclopedic, when by definition encyclopedic means comprehensive in terms of information. The page was comprehensive originally in both history and current news (i.e. specials) which was to inform, not promote. Then after several speedy deletion notices about unambiguous promotion, I took the specials down so the page was comprehensive in history and one current rumor. Explain how having a page about the history of a bar doesn't belong on Wikipedia, when that is what the majority of Wikipedia is. With this unambiguous promotion nonsense, that is what every single artist is doing when they post on their pages upcoming EPs, records, shows, tours, etc., so how is that different than posting current specials on food and drinks? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kilroysnicole (talkcontribs) 15:33, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Nicole. It was unreferenced (and from my google search, there are no references in existence), and read entirely like an advertisement. In fact, it was a copyright violation with content taken verbatim from advertisements, namely here and here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:53, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello,

You deleted electronic evidence examiner page. It had description about this field and about it's certification. we only are running it in that field. And i mentioned about certification because Certified fraud examiner page on wikipedia is only about a certification and brand promoted by acfe. so after seeing it i created mine which was more about field and less about certification body. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coderarora (talkcontribs) 10:16, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm really confused by what you just wrote. Anyway, they were both copyright violations. Please read Wikipedia:Copyright violations. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:03, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

help

Anna, I do need help. I have started my page, with the help of an assistant that has left. She posted my bio and Wiki will not approve it due to errors in references. Can you assist me, as I cannot seem to get the references put in correctly?

I want to put the reference to each of my three books alongside the mention of them in the text. I have the references in the edited version, but they don’t show up in the public view and I have errors associated with reftext, which I don’t get.

Here is my page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Janet_Bennion To log in, it is Janet Bennion, password <removed/>.

Thanks,

When I read that the page was being considered for deletion, I just went overtime on this as I follow Love/Hate like a fanatic and I just love the Elmo character. Then I checked some of his acting through this link [[21]] and checked the amount of work he had done, the awards he had won, his personal life story that touched me deeply, and most particularly the video footage right at the bottom of that page of his various acting clips and I was flabbergasted that his talent was not just the character Elmo I adored, but showed in so many of his films right from the first film he acted in Soft Sand Blue Sea when he was just 14. Many scenes in that video just brought tears to my eyes. As to his work in theatre, I discovered it was just phenomenal. It's as impressive as, if not more, than of his films. So I said it would be a travesty to let this go. Then I decided this would not pass and I would do my utmost to save the page... So there you have it. It would be so swell to have a photo of his legally uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Wow. Thanks for putting a word through to his agent. Much appreciated. Of course thanks also goes to User:Firstinlinetothethrone the creator of the page and User:Racklever and you personally for fixing some of the text. werldwayd (talk) 02:44, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Taylor Wilson may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hello to you to. :)
I deleted Bayanshamal because it was written in a completely promotional way and had no references. I see you just recreated it. It is still the same.
Is this also you? User_talk:Bayanshamal
Please read WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If you can find suitable references and write it neutrally, then maybe it can remain. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:40, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi again, Hottak. I don't think you can have a Wikipedia article. Please answer this question: Do you wish to use Wikipedia for advertising to promote your company? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:00, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Oh! I see it has been deleted again. I think you should not recreate it unless it is written neutrally and with lots and lots of references. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:00, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Good morning

Greeting sir, it is pleasure to meet you again as i mentioned it is A News Website we want to promote and advertise our website by using Wikipedia as you asked question "" Do you wish to use Wikipedia for advertising to promote your company?"" Yes we want to advertise and promote our website so, what do i need to prepare for this page.

Good morning to you too. :) Thank you for finally answering this, and for being so clear. Allow me to be clear:
  • You may not use Wikipedia to promote yourself or your website. This is an encyclopedia, not your local newspaper.
  • Do not create any more accounts.
  • Do not create or edit any more pages related to you or your business.
  • You are welcome to help build this encyclopedia as long as you don't violate the above points.
Please acknowledge that you understand this. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:12, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Greeting once again from bayanshamal

oak i noticed recent points related to Wikipedia rules and regulation that i cant advertise or promote my Website, so lets end the topic Is it allowed for me to create a page for our Website because there many websites that has Wikipedia page for readers information like, Khaama press, Tolo News, and many more, my point is also same like them that i want to have a page from our website in Wikipedia of Bayanshamal need your support, i am very pleased that you waste your precious time for cooperating me i am very thankful.

best regards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ath666 (talkcontribs) 06:23, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Just because other articles exist, it does not mean you can have an article. Please read WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If you can find suitable references and write neutrally, then maybe it can exist. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:23, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

'Shopno'

Dear Anna Frodesiak, thanks for deleting the article named Shopno. I found this article's link in a facebook movie review group. There people were making fun with its producer Ananta Jalil. I came to this article and found a lot of baseless information was given here. thats why I was trying to tag it article with speedy deletion tag and putted a message on that talk page. I am not from any group as you mentioned here [22]. Thank you.--FreemesM (talk) 10:28, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Janet, The master copy is here: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Janet Bennion (2). Please don't use your user page to create another draft. I added a reference to the master, but did not approve it for the main encyclopedia. It remains a draft.
We are hunting for good references. Right now, I feel like the draft may be challenged and deleted if added to the main encyclopedia right now. It really needs more references. However, I am considering approving it myself. Please be patient. We are working on it. Do you know of any non-Internet media pieces that discuss you in detail? There are lots of things you've written and about the things you've written, but we need more pieces that were written about you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:22, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I moved it to the mainspace. It is now an encyclopedia article: Janet Bennion

I'm afraid it says "Courtesy of David Ballou". That's copyrighted, right? If David would release it into the public domain, fine. But, otherwise, no.
Do you have email? That's another possibility. You could email me a photo that you own and I could upload it for you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:13, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Taylor Wilson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TED (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

An accident waiting to (not) happen

Hi Anna. As per our agreement, I would like to draw your attention to the latest developments on Talk:Jodie Foster. I was already threatened to be reported to BLPN, and the editors in question are both pushing for a speedy closing of the thread, in spite of the fact that I have presented all the policies that back up my version of the article. Also, my comments are being edited under the guise of BLP violation, but it's not nearly enough to justify breaking WP:TPO. I'm taking you up on your offer and asking for your help regarding this matter. Thanks in advance. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 06:43, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

I can help if you're being attacked and not responding with your own attacks. We all would help in that case. But this is about article content, and you're battling, again. Others don't seem to always find themselves at that one article, fighting over that one bit of content, caught in a battle. This happens to you. The way to stop that? Well, this is the part where you bite your lip and walk away from the article. Can you do that? Can you make edits that don't end up disputed? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:30, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
I thought you would help me in cases just like this one, when I go about the Wikipedia way – i.e. citing policies that justify my edit – where I'm not supposed to bite my lip just because a couple of homophobic fanboys think that inserted well cited material is defamation. Can you please help me actually do the right thing and benefit Wikipedia? Hearfourmewesique (talk) 16:34, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Dear, oh dear. For me, this is a cost-benefit thing. I invest an hour and hope to get a return for my time. That return is more than an hour of your productive editing without you getting blocked forever. Well, thanks a lot! Ten edits and back to warring. Writing that deal cost me more than half an hour. And now here goes another ten minutes. Don't make this into a bad investment.
The deal is not about you being polite but still fighting and expecting allies to rush to your side because you are polite. Sure, you are being polite and citing polices, but you are also right back at editing hot content at a hot article and fighting. That article also has had Darkness Shines, Delicious carbuncle, and probably others all over it. The deal you agreed to contains "...You totally avoid all your old adversaries even if that means never editing articles they edit....", "...You work hard to be a different kind of editor....", and "...No more warring, period....".
I'm trying to introduce you to the only kind of relationship you can have with Wikipedia going forward. That is you editing non-controversially. That means no hot content at hot articles.
Two ways:
1. Indef block, and that would be it. No chance of return. You mentioned socking several times if that happens. Ha! You love Wikipedia. (Socking sucks resources and hurts the project.) You are smart. (Socking is a losing game.) You don't want to feel shame. (Only losers sock.) You are not selfish. (Socking is about trying to get what you want, personally, and not about trying to help.)
2. You avoid anything hot.
Permit me to shout a suggestion: PICK #2!! PICK #2!! PICK #2!! PICK #2!! PICK #2!!
So? Are you going to do what you agreed to do? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:44, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
I actually recall you promising me several times that you would do anything so that I don't have to tiptoe or jump through hoops. We agreed that I don't edit war – I reverted back once and ever since, have been engaging in a constructive and civil discussion on the article talk page. Avoid anything hot... I doubt it's a constructive suggestion for me to edit Mary Had a Little Lamb. I'm avoiding hot behavior, as we agreed, and will keep avoiding it because I tend to keep my promises, but topics? That's my prerogative, and mine alone. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 05:40, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
I said "...If you are an angel then angels are your friends, including me...", but that is not (several) promises that I would do anything so that you don't have to tiptoe or jump through hoops. I'm not going to help you win debates about Jodie Foster.
You promised to "...avoid all your old adversaries even if that means never editing articles they edit...." and "...work hard to be a different kind of editor....".
I never suggested editing Mary Had a Little Lamb. Part of the deal is about where you must not edit. What does that leave you with? Millions of articles.
The topic is your prerogative. But this is about specific articles, not topics. You're fine to edit show biz articles. Just stay away from hot articles and hot content. If you end up there, don't war and don't even fight protracted battles at the talk page. Just walk. The article will survive and find its way without your input. As for Jodie Foster, you should walk. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:05, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

The only shame I am feeling is right now, being told to act like a C class citizen by not engaging in debates at all and walking away every time anyone reverts me, without a civil fighting chance. I was actually expecting support here, since I chose not to edit war but discuss like Wikipedia tells us to. I was wrong. Thanks again for unblocking me, and now I will continue editing, without edit warring, without incivility, without limiting myself to lukewarm and boring edits or tiptoeing around in fear of getting indef blocked for no reason. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 09:55, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

What support do you want? If someone is attacking you and you're civil, I'm right there. Do you want me to get involved in the disputed Jodie Foster content? Is that the support you're talking about?
Now, you've stated your plan above. It's up to you. You know that you reneged on "...avoid all your old adversaries even if that means never editing articles they edit..." by fighting over content at the Foster article right after you got unblocked. That puts you at risk.
I won't block you, but other admins can see what's happening. If you are civil, and don't war at the article, but still have a battleground manner at article talks, especially with old adversaries, an observing admin may easily say that they've seen enough, and that will be it. In fact, just showing up at Foster and getting back to the fighting thing may be enough for some admins to put their foot down right now. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:56, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Good Day Anna! This is about The Legal Wife.jpg. I have re-uploaded a new version with a new license for the logo. It's the official logo for the new TV series, The Legal Wife. I suppose its the appropriate license. Thank You Anna. Six Horizon (talk) 03:25, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I'm afraid it's not suitable for Wikicommons. A low-resolution version may be uploaded to Wikipedia with the correct license. Find a similar image to know how the license should look and upload an image no larger than 400x400. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:33, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Question involving pages that have been speedy deleted.

Since you said I could bug you, I was curious if you could explain what the standard procedure is if I see that an article that was speedy deleted has been recreated with no changes? I have this issue probably once or twice day. Currently, I'm just applying the CSD tag again. Is this enough? That is, when an admin comes to review the speedy delete tag, will they be able to easily see that it's a page that has already been recently deleted? Thanks. Sulfurboy (talk) 04:38, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Others may have a different approach, but what I do is speedy it again and ask the creator not to recreate it. I ask him to prepare it via AfC or in a sandbox with good refs before trying again. I watch the page. If he recreates it a third time, I delete it, give a final warning, salt it, and sometimes keep some search strings at my PC notepad for variant recreations (eg. Smith Company recreated as Smith Co.) to check in a week or so. So, for you, speedy tag, talk to the creator, watch, and report to WP:RFPP asking for salting if it comes up a third time. Stalkers may have something to say about what I just wrote. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:53, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

why you deleted Tirana Logistic Park?

It is very rude to delete someone else work just because you think it is promotion. It is informative information about the latest project on logical services and is not promoting anything because is the only one of this kind in Albania. Does it look to you Vodafone is promotion or advertising on wikipedia? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone Please rethink on this topic! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Albcomm (talkcontribs) 13:59, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

I didn't mean to be rude. I deleted it because it read like a brochure, was completely unsourced, and was almost entirely copy pasted from the website. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:08, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

It was my first article... that's why it looked like that and because it was not completed. You gave me just 1 day.

I don't think it is the right way to react because I think you could write me previously. That't why I think you were rude. What I should do noa? create it from the beginning? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Albcomm (talkcontribs) 13:14, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

It is policy to quickly delete articles that are completely unsourced, almost entirely copy pasted, and promotional. If you want the subject to have an article, please read WP:42 and WP:COPYVIO first. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:31, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, my friend. Welcome back. Wow! That's a really nice picture. I really can't go there and add a "support" because I found out about it by canvassing. Asking an editor to support you isn't really appropriate. But, I hope the image does well. It sure is nice. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:52, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Greetings! I just happened to notice you removed a reference from the Alternative medicine article here. I am in no way contesting that, I was just wondering how you knew the reference is unreliable. Nothing more than curiosity here. I think the ref was not needed given the book reference. It may even be a case of refspam. Just looking to continue my wiki education. I appreciate your contributions to WP and in advance your time. - - MrBill3 (talk) 02:02, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello MrBill3. :) I tend to remove cucas anything on site. I think it is inappropriate as an external link as well as a reference. It is simply a commercial site that claims, but cannot prove government affiliation and endorsement. Any facts that they claim must have been either made up or sourced from a better place. Either way, what they have to say cannot be relied upon as fact, in my view. Furthermore, an hour ago, I did what I did a couple of years ago to test their credibility: I registered with them. They get your name, address, passport number, and more, then ask for a fee. We have had a number of these sorts of organizations, plus copycat university websites, all making the same "official, sanctioned, approved and affiliated and endored blah blah blah" claims. Reps from these companies have fought for articles at enwp and for their links to be included in articles. Further information is here: [24][25][26][27][28][29]
If you think this organization is a reliable source, please let me know. I'm open-minded. :) Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:21, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I forgot to mention, I googled "cucas" and such words as "happy" "excellent" "satisfied" and compared the results with googling "cucas" and those words that describe less-than-fair service. Plenty of hits for the latter and none for the former. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:28, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

And thank you too for your work on Beijing International Studies University. :) If you can find something on the China's Education Ministry end of things that says CUCAS is affiliated, please let me know. CUCAS and many other companies can make all the claims they want like that, but it doesn't mean they're true. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:19, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

tirana logistic park was not advertising

why you decided to delete Tirana Logistic park? It was not advertising. if you thing it was advertising why you don't delete companies articles? It was informative information about the only logistic company in Albania. It is true that the article was not complete and not well organize but was not advertising topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.78.71.201 (talk) 13:10, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Adrenaline Man page ...

I need help i have dislexsia this is all so confusing ...Adrenaline Man does exsist help me then ??????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrenaline Man (talkcontribs) 03:04, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, my friend. While it is discouraged, you may create an encyclopedia article about yourself. If you think you are notable, prepare it in your sandbox after reading WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. I googled the name, but didn't find enough references to support an article. Maybe you can do better. Let me know if I can help. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:08, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Please understand that there is a difference between the main encyclopedia and your user space. When a page begins with "User:", then it is not part of the main encyclopedia. User space is intended for basic information about yourself or your Wikimedia-related activities. Although a lot of leeway is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking medium, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, CV, or lengthy biography. One administrator deleted your user page for that reason. You restored most of that information at your User talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:13, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
I have images links info resume that proves Adrenaline Man exsists can u help me buils a page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrenaline Man (talkcontribs) 03:20, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Okay. But did you read WP:42? The first step is to read WP:42. Photos and things come later. Most important is to find lots and lots of media pieces that discuss you. So, after you read WP:42, please use google and google news and google news archives to find newspaper and magazine stories about you. Post the website links here. Then, we can move on to the next step. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:24, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
thank im very confused i see directors actors models with all bios and stuff and images ...this is who and what i am what do i do ?..or just leave it where it is its all to complicated ,,,thank you ,what about images i loaded today ? and refrences...its gonna take me a while before i can figure this all out please leave whats there in sandbox for now thanks my emails bornrelentless@yahoo.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrenaline Man (talkcontribs) 20:20, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
True, WP:other stuff exists. The simplest way to help is to say this: Find lots and lots and lots of online magazines and online newspapers that discuss you in detail. Paste the websites here. Then, we can move forward. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:17, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

On a lighter note, check out this new article I created (per your interest in food-list articles and overall list-acumen). This became the latest addition to Template:Lists of prepared foods. Please peruse the article, and feel free to make any improvements to it, if areas to improve can actually be found! Also, please add this to and leave it on your watchlist forever, because I think it's a cool article. Northamerica1000(talk) 10:52, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. I'll check it out. Maybe I can provide some images from over here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:17, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Many of the listed articles are lacking images, so that would be great. This article isn't a good contender for table formatting due to this lack of images for many of the entries, but even if more images are upped, it may work out better sans tables. I'm not sure if you saw

I know she and you have corresponded in the past, so I wanted to alert you that some kind words of encouragement might be appreciated. I will think no less of you if you choose not to. My faith in recently unblocked editors is at an all-time low. It's probably best that I don't post there. I'll keep an eye on her edits, though. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:42, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Understood. I still take everyone at face value, even after all these years. I fear that recently unblocked editors have shown a trend of returning to their prior ways. Time will tell. Fiddle Faddle 00:02, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
She seems sincere. I ought to shed my prejudice. But, it's hard when, like you say, there are trends. Indeed, we will see. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:06, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Dealing with this user has reminded me why I will never put myself forward to join the mop and bucket brigade. I like it that any deletion or block requests I make have a second pair of eyes and I cannot be more than prosecuting or defending counsel. Fiddle Faddle 00:10, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
You'd be a fine admin. You can be an admin and still consult others. I do. And you don't have to fear making mistakes. I make plenty. I didn't want to get the mop because I thought it was about being judge, jury, and executioner, but it's more like administrator -- just a bunch of buttons. Anyway, you can undelete and reblock and unblock. If I block a user, it doesn't have to mean forever. I mainly just want the user to stop and talk. And if I unblock and they screw up, reblocking is just a click of a button. My hope is that they make only valuable edits, and for as long as possible. With my last try, Wikipedia lost an hour of my time and the user gave nothing. You win some. You lose some. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:42, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
You're very kind, and I accept your compliment. I find I can be freer to do things sans mop and bucket, though. And I am lazy :) Fiddle Faddle 00:45, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, freer. That's what I used to say. But having some extra buttons really helps you get things done. Plus, you don't need to get into all sorts of messes. I watchlist AN and AN/I just for news flashes in case it's to do with something I'm connected to, but I very rarely visit those pages. Anyhow, consider it for the future. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:24, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Okay. I looked. It's starting to look like a fake article and it's starting to look promotional. Those are mistakes.
So, how are you going to help build the encyclopedia? We need pictures of downtown Rishra. That would be a good start. Do you have a camera? Also, you could find references to support facts in articles. How would you like to help. Let me know, and I will assist. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:56, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Yep. I have a camera so will I click some pictures of my downtown and upload it in wiki commons and then attach it to my page, will it work ? And I will add references but I dont know how to do it? . Can you assist me how to create a image similar to your (Anna's cafe) image. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rudra john cena (talkcontribs) 09:52, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Great! Here is the commons upload link: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Upload (I guess you already know that.) Yes, you can add those images to your user page like this: [[File:bunnypicture.jpg|thumb|right|This is a picture of a bunny.]]
No, I won't help you further with your user page. You should call your user page finished and begin editing the encyclopedia.
You don't need to reference images. I was referring to any content you add to encyclopedia articles. That content should be sourced with good references.
So, what sort of editing do you think would interest you in the main encyclopedia? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:16, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
I think you love bunnies that is why you always give examples of bunnies. Ok I will click pictures today and upload it following your commands.

The page I am talking about is in this link https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I.G.I.-2:_Covert_Strike , Please see this page once because this page has been modified with lots of wrong informations. The actual creator of these game with technial advise was Innerloop Studios but there it is given some ones name i.e. chris ryan. I have discussed with the production team of that game Codemasters online through there site about the issue. They said that there is no one named chris ryan was related to the creation of this game. I have also gone through the official site of this game and checked all the credits but there is no related name found. So, it is clear that some one has given fake informations of the game. Beside this there are more issues with that page but the main problem is false citation. I want to request you that please go-through the page and modify it with reporting about the User who did it to avoid any more mal-information. Rudra john cena (talkcontribs)
I see. The best thing to do is raise the issue at the article's talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:04, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Rudra john cena: I suggest that you visit WP:WikiProject Physics, especially to have a look at their list of pages needing attention. Hi Holenbeck. I'm sorry to see your work get reverted so many times. The last time it was because you copy pasted the article while not in edit mode. That made all the references disappear. Please try to write neutrally, non-promotionally, and provide inline references to support what you claim. Be sure not to copy paste from sources. Thanks, Anna. I heard you had some rough winds shaking the darling buds of Hainan this last week. Summer's lease hath all too short a date. Did you feel the typhoon come through town? Viriditas (talk) 04:08, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
It was surprisingly tame, considering the fact that it passed right over. We are all very relieved. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:37, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Glad to hear it. Is the geography similar to Hawaii, such that the storms generally pass to the south of the island? Or does Hainan regularly get hit? I could be wrong about this, but it sounds to me like some of the coastal areas in the Philippines will just have to be abandoned in favor of living farther inland due to the changing climate. Viriditas (talk) 22:38, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
We usually get around three a year. This year, around eight or more, I think, plus the terrible, unprecedented mainland pollution that came and stayed for a couple of months. The typhoons that go west through the Philippines lose some strength there, then gather new strength in the South China Sea. From there, they either continue west to Vietnam, curve north and hit us, HK, Taiwan, or maybe even curve back to Japan. It's always hard to know how severe they will be. This one was giant, and did little in Haikou. Sometimes small ones really pack a punch.
About the Philippines, who knows? I hope this year isn't a new trend. Anyway, the flora and fauna love it. Hainan has never looked so lush. The jungles are like furry carpets this year. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:56, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Sounds beautiful. Any recent pics of the jungle? Would be neat to see it. Viriditas (talk) 04:21, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Some flora shots. What's missing are the images of the super-impenetrable jungle. It's hard to take photos of that because it's just like a wall of green so the photo doesn't make sense. That stuff is everywhere.

Help requested

Anna, there's no hurry on this, but I could use your DR skills and feedback on a situation that is taking place on the film article Big Fish. I don't want to get blocked for edit warring but a user by the name of Andrzejbanas, someone I don't recall seeing before, seems oddly convinced of a very strange idea. Andrzejbanas believes that this film is a comedy and is absolutely obsessed with altering the article and removing the fact that it is actually a "fantasy adventure". This behavior seems so strange that I thought this was some kind of sophisticated troll trying to get me blocked, after all, this is a fantasy film about an adventure; it is not classified as a comedy by any reliable source. This user's repeated insistence on removing these facts from the article is bizarre to say the least. He thinks that because some website (like Rotten Tomatoes, etc.) add categories to their reviews that this somehow changes the overall genre. This would be like going to the Star Wars article and removing the "epic space opera" genre and replacing it with "comedy" because it has a few funny scenes. The reliable sources categorize this film as a fantasy adventure, not as a comedy. He's been informed of this on the talk page (which was copied over from my talk page since it took place when I was blocked) but he continues to avoid the questions I have asked him yet persists in adding this erroneous information. His latest tactic is to claim "there is no source for adventure anywhere in the article", but if you visit the article, you notice that the first thing you see is the official film poster that says "An adventure as big as life itself", followed by many different sources in the body of the article that discuss the adventure. Nevertheless, additional sources (many in fact) can be added to satisfy this behavior. I recently pointed him to film critic and journalist Shea Conner (University of Iowa) who wrote in the St. Joseph News-Press that "2004's "Big Fish," [is] an incredibly enchanting adventure that transcended his hermetically dark and quirky world." (October 5, 2012) Seriously, this isn't at all controversial or disputed. What's strange here is this user's continued removal of factual information and bizarre claim that this is a comedy film. It isn't, and there isn't a single film review that calls this a comedy film. It's a film about the death of a father and the fantastic stories he tells his son about his life, stories that are adventures told "straight" (Detweiler 2008), "without jokes, tricks, or subterfuge". If he isn't trolling, then Andrzejbanas is having difficulty understanding what it means to tell a story "straight", and is confused by the distinction. The director Tim Burton based the film on a fantasy fiction book infused with the influence of the recent (at the time) death of his father. There is nothing "comedic" about this. Viriditas (talk) 04:44, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Genre is objective. Adventure is a term that may describe watching the film and not necessarily the genre. I've found other sources also mentioning this: BBC for example. You mention reliable sources, but have not shown to me earlier nor have you taken it to the discussion page. Please read WP:RS, WP:OR and WP:OBJECTIVE again. We can't just jump to genre, we need sources. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:42, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Andrzejbanas, you have been pointed to the discussion page several times. I'm glad to see you have responded there. Your statement in that discussion, "I don't think fantasy should apply as the fantastical things that happen in the film are just exaggerated stories from the father, not an actual fantasy setting or events" goes directly against what the majority of reliable sources say on this subject, including the best expert/academic sources and reviewers. Your statement is also completely wrong given the fantasy ending of the film that takes place, when the father turns into a fish. As far as I can tell, the problem is that you are editing Wikipedia from your personal belief that this film is not a fantasy, when the majority of our sources describe it as such. As the GA reviewer of this article, and as someone who works very hard to check our articles for accuracy, I think I can say with some certainty that your position here is completely untenable. The film poster itself describes it as an adventure, and I've already pointed you to reviewers who say it is an adventure. The fantasy genre is simply not up for dispute, and your repeated insistence that it is tells me you don't understand how we use sources. I have repeatedly asked you to describe the "comedic" aspects of this film based on what reliable soureces have said, and guess what, you can't or won't because there isn't a single source that discusses "comedy". Instead, we have close to 100+ sources that discuss the fantasy and the adventure, in extreme detail, with many of our best stories repeatedly talking about this film as a "fairy tale" adventure that has elements of magical realism. Fairy tales and magical realism are subsets of fantasy. As for its adventure, the entire film is based on one long adventure, and the sources make this clear. Viriditas (talk) 00:12, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Boy, this is tricky. You've tried to sway each other. I think the next step is not to try to sway others, but instead, to let them decide for themselves. Here's why:

There's Roger Ebert saying "adventure" and Golden Globes saying "comedy", and that's just scratching the surface.

Per Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth, we have to go by what most good sources say most of the time and weigh each of them, right?

And you've both debated and can't agree, right? Well, I hate to take such an easy way out, but maybe it's time for rough consensus. What about this:

Sources say it's a comedy:

...and list in bullet form the actual quote (or categorization if that's all the site says) bluelinked to the url, of course.

Sources say it's an adventure:

...and list in bullet form the actual quote (or categorization if that's all the site says) bluelinked to the url, of course.

Rough consensus

  • Comedy User:Bob
  • Adventure User:Sue
  • Comedy User:Randy
  • Adventure User:Felicity
  • Romance User:uttermoron

I'm suggesting this because you're at an impasse and need third parties. I just don't see others wanting to read a huge debate fought over a single word. You might have to pull in the crowd by making it easy for them. I'm pretty big on lists because they are easy to read and draw the eye. Plus, the uninvolveds can decide without having first been pitched either way. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:28, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

That's fine, but Andrzejbanas is wasting my time. As the GA reviewer of this article, I had to pour through almost a hundred sources to make sure it was accurate. Andrzejbanas has done nothing of the sort, he's just arguing from his personal POV, not the sources. And Golden Globes do not describe it as a comedy, they merely plopped it in that category because they didn't have anything else. Meanwhile, it was nominated for the 30th Saturn Awards, where the film was also nominated for Best Fantasy Film. Anna, have you seen the film? I ask, because if you have, and you truly believe this is a comedy film, then I would be happy to go with your judgement. IMO, the film is accurately categorized by the majority of sources as a fantasy drama adventure, and I can prove it. Viriditas (talk) 00:12, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough. I didn't see the film and my opinion based on seeing the film doesn't matter. I'm also uncomfortable weighing in. I have a long friendship with you and none with him. Plus, no sources say "this is a comedy film" or "this is an adventure film". They use categories or use the word "adventure" in prose. It's not entirely clear.
The most decisive way is to list the best sources, ask him to do the same, and drop a note at the talk of a few of the GA people or at Project Film asking for a view. In two days, four editors will say "adventure" or "comedy" and that will be it. Doesn't that seem like the best way? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:49, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Your opinion on seeing the film matters to me. If you get a chance to see it (no time limit), I am actually curious what you think, rather than the outcome of the discussion. Viriditas (talk) 01:08, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
For me, DR cannot be about taking sides. I must be neutral. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:50, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
I wouldn't want it any other way. I left a message on the WikiProject Film noticeboard. Maybe they can help. Viriditas (talk) 01:08, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Ottawahitech. I commented over there.

File:Apple Safari.png was last month uploaded to a massive 1024 X 1024 image. I just reverted it today with obvious reasons - the image is non-free, and I would request a deletion of 1024 X 1024 due to copyright problems... I don't know if it is in the rules, but it was way to high def to be fair use. --Pretty les♀♥, Dark Mistress, talk, 23:11, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Done. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:16, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Thinks for doing that! I had noticed that it was high def and it says non-free, so I notified you. --Pretty les♀♥, Dark Mistress, talk, 12:38, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Re: Nitishkumartn

I'm just curious, but has anyone looked at his headers via CU to see if he is editing from a mobile browser? I've had issues with spaces in some mobile browsers. Viriditas (talk) 03:23, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Interesting idea. I just asked at IRC SPI channel and one admin feels that it may be a breach of privacy to check. Hopefully he will communicate so it can be resolved and won't be angry with me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:05, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm sure that admin is correct. Anyway, I had the same problem with spaces a while back, but I can't remember what I was using to edit. Viriditas (talk) 10:11, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
I just thought of another possibility. Because some people have limited internet access in other countries, they sometimes have to use a text editor to edit on one machine and then copy the text over to another machine with an internet connection. I'm pretty sure the space problem can occur when copying text in this way as well. Viriditas (talk) 10:35, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Maybe that's it. I'm very curious to know.

It's so common. Are you saying it could be some sort of software thing that makes spaces after punctuation vanish? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:09, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Anna I am posting on your talk as it concerns a user, otherwise I would have not. Was the block only to draw attention? I you don't have to explain if you don't want to.   Sohambanerjee1998   13:42, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes. Like I said "...I'm just trying to get your attention so that we can communicate...". It is possible that he never visits his talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:12, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
