Vandalism on pages (addition of unofficial sites)
Hello. Certain agents are trying to promote their sites by continually appending their websites to official wiki pages on my watchlist: Wenzhou and Wenzhou Medical College. The culprit seems to be interested in adding only one site. The history of the pages would show me reverting these edits over the course of this month. Could you please help me deal with this issue?
Thank you.

- I'm on the case, my friend. Thanks for telling me. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:29, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. It's hard to tell. But, it looks like you're right. All universities in China have .edu, while this is .net. Plus, there is a side-scrolling link "APPLY NOW" that shows it's connected to http://bestcollegeschina.com/ Click the link, and it gives a form asking for your passport number. I don't trust it, and will remove them all until it's proven official. The editor is claiming it as official, yet the .edu must be, and there can't be two official sites. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:43, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- And then there's http://www.wenzhouuniversity.com/. I've been watching Chinese uni pages for a couple of years, and have never seen a dot com.
- Plus, I've experienced the addition of the cucas links before. Same story, pretending to be official, then you fill out a form, they have your personal info, and then ask for money.
- I can't be sure about these .net and .com sites in question here. But, it's suspicious. I'm about to email the .edu site to try and find out. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:57, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- I just emailed to io@wzmc.net the following:
Please advise on these websites: Are they officially recognized by http://www.wzmc.edu.cn/en/?
Many thanks
- FYI: 0 matches right now.
- External link search for bestcollegeschina
- External link search for wenzhouuniversity.com
- External link search for wzmu.net
- (talk page stalker) Hm. Doing it this way showed three for bestcollegeschina. I have removed them as probable linkspam. If asking for passport details etc then I think that they may be a candidate for an edit filter. They certainly do not appear particularly to add any value to the articles in which they appeared. - Sitush (talk) 00:34, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Why didn't I think of that? :) Thanks for removing them too. Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:58, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- www.wzmu.net is official recruitment website of Wenzhou Medical College, this website is run by Cosmo Enterprises Pvt Ltd. This company is actively recruiting students for Wenzhou Medical College since 2006. Please contact Mr Wang (Vic Director) School of International Studies Wenzhou Medical College on wzmczs@126.com or sis@wzmc.edu.cn. http://www.wzmc.edu.cn/en/contact_us.php 119.154.125.44 (talk) 18:21, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

- Wenzhou University and Wenzhou Medical College are two different institutes having their own independent management. so asking Wenzhou MEdical College about Wenzhou University is not a good idea.

- I emailed: wzmczs@126.com and sis@wzmc.edu.cn asking for a comment. I have yet to receive a response from the last group of emails, and frankly, I don't expect a response from these either. We'll see. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:31, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- By the way, is Xeerox1 = 119.154.125.44 ? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:31, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- I think the best solution for now is to provide only the official school website in the article. If this recruiting site(s) is legitimate, then they can find the link at the schools site. This is an encyclopedia. Not a promotional tool. I will remove the links. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:35, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response Anna. I can shed some light on this issue. First of all, Wenzhou Medical College and Wenzhou University are two different entities, but the agent does work for the both of them. On a more pertinent note, the sites are merely cloned copies of the original sites that would make an unsuspecting user think they were viewing the original. Lastly, as you already noticed, the sites wzmu.net and wenzhouuniversity.com have links to bestcollegeschina because they are mirror pages of http://bestcollegeschina.com/about_wenzhou_medical_college.html and http://bestcollegeschina.com/wenzhou_university.html respectively.
- This agent website has no more right to place itself on these wiki pages than the myriad other agencies that also represent Wenzhou Medical College, and if they were official, I believe that information would be appropriately placed on the school's official site.
- Thank you again for working so hard to address this.
Compendium wmc (talk) 01:36, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- No problem at all. Seeing that the links are suspect, it will be easy to keep them out. Xeerox1 will have to get consensus at talk to include them. He will have a hard time doing that. We can keep an eye on the pages and remove the links if they are added again. So, it's case closed for that institution. Now, I will dig for bestcollegeschina sites added to other articles. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:34, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I realize that this is something of a headache for you, but the user in question just can't get the rules governing wikipedia. I submit for your viewing his most recent edits to Wikipedia & Wikimedia, which now consist of watermarked pictures emblazoned with his website. This is beyond blatant. Please address this issue. Certainly, there are better ways to update a wiki page without defacing it.
Thank You
Compendium wmc (talk) 11:11, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- Not at all. I'm very glad you brought it to my attention. I actually looked at the images before, but didn't see the watermarks. Strange. I have reported the user. The images will be deleted, and the user warned and watched. Many thanks for your vigilance. Let's both keep an eye out. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:37, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Anna, thank you for dealing with this issue. I realize that you might have drawn some heat for this, but it definitely required input from someone higher up. I feared that the back-and-forth tussle between myself and the other user (with all those numerous accounts) would only serve to deprecate the value of the WMC wiki. As for the links (.net) that you removed, those are in fact valid. Initially WMC did use that non-specific suffix; I am glad that they finally made the switch to the more trustworthy .edu .
Thanks again for the help.

Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
FYI: I just found a website in the infobox at the article Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The official one, according to a Google search (for what that's worth) is http://www.at0086.com/JUTCM/admission-information.aspx. The one I removed is http://www.jutcm.com/, which links to bestcollegeschina.
Ah, I just noticed that on 26 July 2011, our IP 119.154.144.136 added it, and you removed it 8 August 2011. I'll keep an eye on that page too. Let's both also watch Ningbo University. That's the other one on their website.
I will post at project China to ask about this organization. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:57, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Query about Species Articles
Hi Anna. I recently saw your post on Colofac's talk page, and I was curious where you find the images and info for lacking species articles. I've been looking for an area to edit without as much drama as my watchlist, but each attempt I make (no matter how innocuous) results in tense disputes. Thus is the nature of Philosophy/Theology, I guess. I think your suggestion to Colofac might be a low-key productive way to spend some time, particularly if there's a backlog of articles to create. I could, of course, just start on my own, but you've been working in this area for a while, so any information you could pass along would certainly be helpful! :) All the best! — Jess· Δ♥ 06:45, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there. Yep, I wouldn't touch Philosophy/Theology articles with a ten foot pole. Now, species, ahhhhhh, blissful peaceful, lovely species. Like the quiet beach of Wikipedia.
- There are lots of ways to find images, both flora and fauna. There is an image matcher on my userpage. I haven't had much luck with it. If you do, let me know.
- Usually, I select an order or family that you know has lots of species. Small stuff is good. The bigger, the fewer species. Elephants, for example, are both done. :) Species that are bigtime hobbies are no good either. I think almost all birds (with images available) are done. Bats too, forget about it. Bugs, plants, marine stuff. All great. Here is a sure-fire method:
- 1. Shop for familes via taxobox.
- 2. Scan family articles. Sometimes you will see images with captions. If the species name in the caption is red, then that can be an article. If not:
- 3. Find a family article with a long list of genera. Open lots of those in new tabs.
- 4. In the genus articles, you may find images with redlinks. If not, look for the species list. If there are lots of redlinks, good!
- 5. Go to Wikicommons. Search the genus name (the first part of the species name). Look at all the images that come up. Look for images of species with corresponding redlinks on the genus page.
- Don't forget to check for synonyms. When you finish the article, don't forget to make synonym redirects to your article.
- There you go! Good luck. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:14, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Anna. Thanks for the info! Looking forward to jumping in once I get some editing time. It'll be good to get back to productive editing, instead of getting absorbed in all these pointless disputes. I appreciate the suggestion! :) — Jess· Δ♥ 22:09, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Happy to help. This will get you started, if you like butterflies: Biblidinae.
- For marine species, this is a pretty good site to find out: accepted vs. synonym, authority, and synonym list. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:35, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- I started Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images. It may be deleted as useless or redundant. If not, it may be helpful to you. It if stays, I will expand it. So, consider watchlisting it, or adding to it as well. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:52, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Regarding NNU-11-06090310
You and I have both come into contact with User:NNU-11-06090310 in the last 2 days (this is the user who made Yixing bamboo, WuWangFaZhou, etc. I fixed up one of the articles yesterday (Xi Murong), but truth be told, I kept only 1 sentence out of the mal-formatted, unsourced paragraph they had. I only saw it because it was (rightfully) tagged for speedy deletion under A7. Just now, I redirect WuWangFaZhou, because except for the name, it was identical to another article they created. Note that WuWangFaZhou was created after my earlier message to the user regarding the first problematic article. How much flexibility are we giving these students? For a non-NNU editor, about right now is when I would be modifying my messages from friendly and helpful to helpful and warning. Any guidance on this issue? Or is there a teacher we can contact instead? Qwyrxian (talk) 23:43, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, wisdom has arrived. I've been thinking exactly that for days. Many of these are a total blight. There are lots of ways to deal with this, but us sitting here watching these enter the mainspace and remain for days, is not an opnion, as far as I'm concerned. I will raise the issue at the project talk immediately. Thank you for the common sense. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:03, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Porcupine Pictures
Hello Anna! I was wondering if I could ask you a favor? Do you already know how to easily crop two pictures together? I'm talking about these two here. It's for the article porcupine. Thanks! Chrisrus (talk) 04:41, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Chrisrus (sorry, I am a talk page stalker of Anna). Is what I used here box turtle a solution (at the egg laying images)? L.tak (talk) 13:12, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hello and thanks! Actually, what I'm trying to do is not to add two pictures, but to combine the two pictures into one picture, with one caption. The main idea of the article porcupine is that they evolved twice from basal rodents that were not porcupines. So I want to take two pictures and combine then into one that shows them side-by-side. Chrisrus (talk) 14:02, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- I know it's still not quite what you want but the template L.tak demonstrated above can be used to place two pictures side by side with one shared caption like this example from the Nasal spray article:

Cloveapple (talk) 20:11, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- That's much better, thanks, but I was trying to say how to take two pictures and mash them together to make a third. I'm pretty sure you can combine two pictures and save them as one picture, with one caption for both. But what you did there might suffice. Can you put these two together side-by-side as a compare/contast pictue that would fit in the Porcupine taxobox to replace the one that's there? And give it one title or caption? Each animal should be about the same size. Remember, it's supposed to illustrate the point that there are really two different branches of rodents that both evolved into porcupines separately, once in the old world and once in the new. Would it be better to have them facing out or towards each other? Or is there a way to flip one so they both face either to the left or to the right? Chrisrus (talk) 23:49, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Aaaah, I didn't realize it was for an infobox. I've no idea if the multiple image template works in that sort of situation. So let's assume you need a single image (or at least that that would be a heck of a lot easier). To combine or rotate images and thus create a new image you need to use some image editing software. I can't help as most of my software is temporarily out of reach, but you can ask the folks at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab to make your image. Is there any reason you want to use two drawings instead of two photos? Cloveapple (talk) 01:17, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks again for your help! To answer your question, there are several reasons, including clarity of relevant physical features, so that they could be combined seemlessly and easily, and to facilitate/provoke comparison and contrast in the mind of the reader. Chrisrus (talk) 02:26, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Stay dry!
Thank you. The typhoons have passed. The constant power outages are over. It's probably safe to keep the computer on again.
I intend on raising the issue that was pointed out in this thread, at the NNU project talk. All that new content overwhelmed us. It raises questions. What if it happens again with 2,000 students participating? Is running around cleaning up the right approach? And what about the responsibility of the students? In many cases, what they were adding was completely unfit. Any student who browsed Wikipedia for five minutes would know that. We had to the choice of deleting it, fixing it, or posting at their talk to encourage them to return and fixing, thereby leaving it in the mainspace, where, in my opinion, it should not be allowed to remain for a single second.
I'm curious what you think of the whole thing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:07, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- First, welcome back! Everyone was missing you lots, even though it was only for a few days. As for the issue you raise, I want to say, I really appreciate how you ask questions and try to get to the heart of the matter. I wish more people did that. I've pretty much said all that needs to be said, but I would be happy to briefly go over the general points again. You ask, What if it happens again with 2,000 students participating? Is running around cleaning up the right approach? I have a different POV on this. It is happening again, all the time in fact. Check Special:RecentChanges to see "it", or monitor it in real time using a recent changes feed. The problem of monitoring random recent changes is no different than patrolling new articles from an organized student group. We first need to ask, how does Wikipedia handle recent changes? One way is with new pages patrol, another is with WikiProject members who monitor AlexNewArtBot pages, etc. However, we are primarily concerned with new pages patrollers because that that is where most of the concerns are being raised. The problem as I see it, is that "running around cleaning up" is one aspect of patrolling, but many patrollers don't want to contribute to that work. Essentially, they want to play Wikipedia as a video game, and just tag and bag articles. They may also not have the skills to cleanup an article, in which case, I've proposed analyzing the patrol process and implementing a multi-tier approach, where patrollers can "pass off" an article from one tier to another based on their time, commitment, and expertise. I've actually been talking about this for several years. What this means is that proto-articles and the new editors that create them can be improved with the help of multiple editors helping out. This process has many benefits. One, we are giving new articles more eyes, and I can't tell you how important this is. When I used to do page patrol, I would find editors proposing important topics for deletion and berating new editors with warning templates without so much as communicating with the editor and helping them learn the ropes. In fact, recent studies commissioned by the Wikimedia Foundation have identified this process as being responsible for alienating new editors and contributing to their decline. Page patrolling isn't a video game. Many editors have lost the plot, forgetting that we are all about articles and editors, and they have forgotten that editors learn on the fly through page patrol, and it is in their interaction with many different members of the community where the learning takes place. This is the process that improves articles and editors. Based on my proposal, page patrolling can be tightly integrated with WikiProjects and specialized patrols with special category queues setup to monitor. If instead, you argue that new editors should create their new articles in user space subpages instead, this will prevent them from learning the site and how to interact with other editors, and it will slow the improvement of the articles. This idea that new page patrol shouldn't be burdened with these articles really goes against the collaborative atmosphere of Wikipedia. New page patrol isn't about clicking a button and dropping a tag into an article or templating a user. At its heart, it's about cleaning up articles and improving them and helping new editors learn how to best contribute. Viriditas (talk) 01:44, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind welcome back.
- What you say makes perfect sense. Subpages keep content away from the eyes of others. A team to help the article and the editor seems like the best plan. If such a system can be set up properly, I think it will really help. Imagining myself as a totally new user, making an article, and having good guidance, a kind welcome, and people to help the article, would instantly make my contributions seem worthwhile, pull me right into the community, and provide an on-the-spot tutorial showing the difference between what I produced, and what sort of improvements were needed.
- Now, short term, what if 500 students land tomorrow? How to handle things with the current system? A prepared mini-crew who can do what you talk about? And what of students that drop content and run? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:14, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- First, start with detection. There needs to be a way for recent changes patroller to "sound the alarm". I've recommended the use of messaging via the MediaWiki interface message that would be visible to recent patrollers, either through some kind of messaging function in their automated tools or through a gadget interface. The drop content and run issue is perfectly acceptable. That's what our article on Sugar plantations in Hawaii was to begin with. Charityk (talk · contribs) uploaded it in December 2006 and then disappeared until May 2011. In the interim, we cleaned the article up and made it presentable. That's a best case scenario, of course, but this is why I think things should be done at a project level, and project members need to get more involved. Viriditas (talk) 02:20, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. Let's say a new group of 500 students drop content it is detected and listed tomorrow. What then? I was chatting with Demiurge1000 at IRC, and we talked about my putting some sort of plan together. I like the tier thing. Lots of eyes on each article. The edit-as-you-may approach to the NNU articles felt all wrong. No coordination, too many eyes on one article, none on another. Plus, a standard communique for the teacher would be a good plan. I guess I can go digging at project Ambassador for that. Should I hash something out in one of my subpages? When you say tiers, are you talking about one editor checking cats, another handling editor communications, another factchecking, etc., or overlap, or what? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:50, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, that sounds interesting. Best way to start talking about this is to create a flowchart to model the process. In other words, how does the current process work? What are its strengths and weaknesses? What works and what doesn't? From there, we can create another flowchart that proposes changes. One thing that might help is to look at Special:NewPages. How do editors use it? Why are there no flags indicating an editor has been welcomed? What about changing the new page patrol interface to allow for flags indicating an article has been stubbed, categorized or has had a specific maintenance tag added, so that specialized patrols can address those issues? Viriditas (talk) 03:07, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. I will put something together, and invite others for input. I'm surprised that Special:NewPages has no flags. That would be good. For new articles, maybe some sort of checkbox thingy might be good too.
- I will make a flowchart and ask editors about: sequence of steps, a way to show what's been done, a way for editors to sign up to handle various steps, strengths and weaknesses, general feedback, additions and improvements, etc. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:17, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Before you do that, you may want to make some inquires to see if this has already been done. I would recommend contacting User:EpochFail to see if he has any good data for you, as he spent a good deal of time collecting it. He could probably help you with the flowchart as well, or point you in the right direction. Viriditas (talk) 03:32, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Will do. I've already dumped a couple of ideas at User:Anna Frodesiak/Diamond sandbox. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:36, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Your idea for a "checklist" sounds intriguing. That might actually work. Viriditas (talk) 03:41, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
I found the flowchart! See this link. It was already linked on EpochFail's user page. D'oah. Viriditas (talk) 08:36, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello there Anna and Viriditas.
- Steven Walling and I were just at a conference with EpochFail (we co-managed the WMF summer research fellowship during which he produced that graph of NPP workload), and he passed this thread along to us. It's great to see you talking about this issue and brainstorming solutions to the problem. I'm especially heartened by your interest in making the process better for both newbies and patrollers alike :) There's currently been a lot of talk over on mediawiki about improvements we could make to NPP – an idea that one of our programmers had was this refurbished NPP interface. Any feedback or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated! And if you'd like any help rallying the troops for a discussion about this, please let Steven and me know. We'd love to provide any assistance we can. --Maryana (WMF) (talk) 17:45, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Very impressive! Is this intended to be rolled out as a gadget? What about adding visible counters to keep track of patrol stats? I think this would encourage users to make use of the app and monitor their work as well as allow the Foundation to study and track its impact with real numbers. This interface could also be modified for other projects. Viriditas (talk) 00:57, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- Right now it's just a plan, but it's possible that it might be a gadget in the future (though some editors get annoyed when we add yet another thing to the interface). Whatever the case, I know Jorm (the designer) is definitely thinking about including visible counters/stat trackers. We just have to be sure to do it in a way that avoids the gamefication problem you were hinting at – turning it into a patroller leaderboard runs the risk of encouraging quantity over quality patrolling, which isn't something anybody wants. --Maryana (WMF) (talk) 17:57, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- It actually wouldn't be a gadget, but rather a complete redesign of Special:NewPages itself. Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 18:35, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds fantastic. I would love to be involved in any user acceptance testing, however, I would recommend asking the most active patrollers before you ask me. I'm wondering if you could also design a WikiProject interface so that the projects could use this type of interface to patrol their own project-related articles. If you had at least one active page patroller from each project giving input on this interface, it would be very valuable. Viriditas (talk) 00:55, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Reply to Anna
Dear Anna I am so sorry to reply you till now. I did not check my emails recently. Thank you for helping me and I am so sorry for that. When I first came to Wikipedia to create my account, it reminded me that I had created already. I was confused because I did not do that. I used to visit Wikipedia as a visitor without my own account. Ireally like it. But I did not have an account until my writing English teacher Josh asked us to do that. By the way, I don not know how to add referrence and pictures into my passage. My QQ mailbox cannot send this email to you successfully, so I send it via this way. I will appreciate it if I could hear from you soon. Thank you for your help, and sorry again.112.21.241.101 (talk) 13:47, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Questions
Hi,I've got some questions to ask you.I need your help. 1.I know there are lots of pictures in my article.Someone told me I'd better delete some of them.Well,my article is 2014 YOG Licensed Products and I wanna introduce all these products,so I just put these pics in the Gallery. Is that all right? 2.I use some copyrighted pictures from a blog. However,I just talked with the blogger about that and he agreed.I think it doesn't matter, right? 3.Yesterday,I added some references and today there is news that THE ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN MATERIAL NOT APPROPRIATE FOR AN ENCYCLOPEDIA.What does that mean? What can I do? 4.If I have questions next time, how can I seek help? How many ways? Looking forward to your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNU-11-Zaclee (talk • contribs) 08:39, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello. Well, I gave you advice before, but I'm not sure you paid attention to it. So, before you ask for more advice, let's take things one step at a time. I posted a pink box on your talk page entitled "Use Spaces". Please read it, and then look at your article. I will watch to see the changes you make. Then, let's work on this new thing. Hi, Anna, I take your advice putting spaces after punctuation marks. I am sorry for ignoring the preceding advice because I am a little bit at sea about the Wikipedia thing. However, following your and other people's advice, I will try my best from now on. NNU-11-Zaclee (talk) 06:28, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- That's okay. No need to be sorry. The best advice I can offer is for you to browse articles at Wikipedia. A good way to learn is to see how others do things. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:38, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Tamia Liu Ask for help from a NNu student
Hello, Anna. I write an essay recently, named Tamia Liu. However, I don't think it's ok. Some forms I don't kown how to add, and maybe there are also some gramma mistakes. What's more, though I have searched it on Wikipedia, but I'm still not sure that it hasn't been covered. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNU-11-22100509 (talk • contribs) 03:10, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm looking at it right now. It looks great. I will fix it up a bit. Please see if you can find more references. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:21, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Anna, Tamia Liu needs to be merged with the existing article on the actress, Liu Tao, which is under her Chinese name (normally articles about PRC people should be titled using their Chinese name not their assumed English name). This example again highlights the need for students to check for an article on the Chinese Wikipedia first, and see if it links to an existing article on the English Wikipedia before starting a new article. BabelStone (talk) 09:28, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there. In point form:
- Duplicates: The teacher knows about duplicates and has told the students. It still occurs.
- Naming convention: Noted.
- Merge: Oh, no. Here goes ten minutes of my life. :)
Done Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:47, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! Why is proposing a merge so much trouble?! BabelStone (talk) 09:56, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Because I have the IQ of a small lump of butter. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:13, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Then my IQ must be that of a few drops of melted butter, because I left the merge to you to do because I reckoned it was too hard for me to do! BabelStone (talk) 10:22, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Per your edit summary: No offence taken at all. I do merge proposals quite rarely, so I have to use my notes. Two templates, one talk post, and three edit summaries, all cause me to have to pay attention. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:29, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Colors for template
Thanks so much Anna! I liked the last version you made, which was 2 fairly rich shades of yellow, so I put those colors into the template itself. However I preferred the old seashells image, so I put that in, but now that image is "floating" in its space in the middle of the template rather than filling the space completely. I can't remember how to trim the width of the template, and I also don't know how to make the image fill the space it is sitting in. Do you know how? Thanks. Oh and thanks for asking: my knee is NOT doing well: the first two "therapy" sessions last week kind of messed it up pretty badly, so it is very painful and swollen a lot more than it was. Oh also thanks for toning down the colors at the Links page. I think that page looks fine now. Actually I don't suppose many people really look at that page, which is a shame because it is quite useful. Best, Invertzoo (talk) 16:49, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- I think you may have selected the same one you weren't crazy about. :) Maybe not. I can't remember which was which. Either way, it looks okay. I enlarged the image. I hope that's what you meant.
- Sorry about your knee. Beware of people in white coats who want to twist things. Get better soon, eat raw veggies, play with kids and animals. Let me know if you need any further help. I'm always here. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:12, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
That pesky list
Ah! I see that you are still alive and well. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 00:33, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Still here. Pleased you are too. Otherwise, that list would be the "Who's who of who's not actually Ezhavas". :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:58, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hm. I have left a note on the user's talk page following reinstatement of the info. Is a mention in one book sufficient for WP:N? Especially when that book pretty much trots out a list of names over a page or so? Sadasivan, btw, is a curious source: a lot of non-Ezhavas who contribute here appear to have problems with him, from which I deduce that he probably was an Ezhava. All the official attempts to mitigate caste "warfare" since independence in 1947 appear not to have achieved much! In fact, I sometimes wonder if things were not a little more peaceful on that score when the nasty Britishers ruled the roost: at least then people had a common enemy.
- An aside, of sorts. I didn't realise until recently just how small the presence of British officialdom in India was. Figures vary, but the highest I have seen so far was around 2,000. That is a very small number of civil servants to oversee such a large population: modern government systems have more than that for a city. - Sitush (talk) 01:40, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- I see you have your hands full of these folks. You are always ahead of me. I click watchlist, and I see your revert. Very vigilant. As for caste warfare, I wonder if they were fighting before the British. Usually imperial forces really leave a country screwed up for decades after they leave. Stupid imperial forces. Hmmpft! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:29, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- There was tribal warfare, and that existed even before the Mughals (and then the Portuguese, then the Dutch, and then the Brits) colonised the place. I don't think that there was much in the way of caste warfare because caste was a religious-driven concept back then: the Brahmins (priests) imposed their notions of social order etc on their flock and their flock general did what sheep do. The same could be said of the relationship between religion and society pretty much anywhere up until the late 1700s. I am not convinced that caste warfare was even a consequence of the Brits, except in so far as the Brits in some ways actually opened up the system a little. The movement that has been described as sankritisation began during their time. It is a very complex area, I do not know it all and I am simplifying here.
- As for my vigilance, well, I wonder if perhaps I am too vigilant. - Sitush (talk) 10:10, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Wow. People! They sure know how to screw up a perfectly good planet and make life crappy for each other.
- Vigilance: I agree with what you are doing, especially when it comes to the Ezhavas list. Claims about affiliations of people must be sourced. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:18, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Battle of Tian Shan
Article: Battle of Tian Shan.
I came across your unassessed WikiProject Military History of the above article. I encourage you and other Wikipedia users who are familiar with this article to expand it to be a top article in WikiProject Military History. Hopefully other WikiProjects will encourage users to expand it, unfortunately I can only speak for the WikiProject Military History Coordinators. So we can make it more clear when, where and what the battle was about in our template on the Discussion page. Feel free to ask us for any help you require in formatting the article. Hi. Could you or one of your protegé(e)s have a look at the above linked glorious mishmash? It may or may not be notable, but in its present state it verges on A1. I've listed it at WP:PNT, but it might be an exercise for the youngsters. Thanks. Peridon (talk) 11:43, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Saw your post on AQ's talk page. Took me a few minutes, but I finally caught on to your username. Nicely done :) --Hammersoft (talk) 20:19, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. An old nickname. T'was that or Anna hates banana.
- And yours? An oxymoronic name from a self-declared idiot. Nice. I'm very fond of idiots, and feel somehow at home among them. It's like I'm with my family or something. Can't put my finger on it. ........Oh! Oh dear. So what variety are you? The Elmer Field Guide To Idiots categorizes them as either Stupid, Huge, Total, Complete, or Village. Author John Elmer describes them as "...extremely frustrating to study...".
- Thanks for being so nice to AQ. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:45, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- I prefer to just drop the "oxy" part :) Plenty enough people think I'm moronic anyway, so it fits :) Did you know that "moron" was a term developed by Dr. Goddard and came into use during his tenure at Ellis Island? Actually, I could be a Wikipedia eugenicist living in self-denial. Hard to tell. Which category of idiot am I (assuming I'm not a moron)? Probably all of them :) I'm certainly extremely frustrating to a number of people, rising now even to the status of "fucking Borg". Somehow I suspect such sexual escapades would be rather...umm, how should I say this..."cold". Oh wait, maybe I misinterpreted? :) --Hammersoft (talk) 13:48, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Need your help
Hi, Anna. It has come to my attention that User:Profhanley/teaching/literature of labor is teaching a class and his students are creating articles. Is there an ambassador assigned to this group? Should the article talk pages be tagged? Is there a WikProject that should be working with them? This came to my attention as a result of fulfilling a help request by Serena530 (talk · contribs). She was confused because a NPP had tagged her first article for speedy deletion, and there was nothing wrong with her work. In fact, the article she created was on one of the most notable black female mystery novels of the 1990s (Blanche on the Lam) and had received three major awards. The new page patroller didn't bother to even follow WP:BEFORE, he just tagged it for deletion and went on his way. Additional Wikipedians followed his example and added multiple tags without helping the user. I find this kind of behavior by experienced Wikipedians (the NPP has been here for five years!) highly troubling. Viriditas (talk) 06:00, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm working on it. I mentioned it at IRC, and you can follow my contribs. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:50, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Feel free to take over. I'm just curious, what process do we follow when we find teachers teaching a class and students creating articles? Viriditas (talk) 06:54, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- At the moment, none that I know of. That's why I'm starting this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project. I will infom the SFSU teacher, and ask him to get his students to add articles to the table there. Then I will assemble a crew to give it a try. I have also started a project page here: User:Anna Frodesiak/Pink sandbox. A fledgling kit to use each time a new groups is discovered. I would really like to try this system. I think that Ambassador program is overloaded right now. This system makes sense to me. It puts lots of eyes on each article, helps students focus on contributing good, well-sourced, encyclopedic content, while allowing helpers to be organized in fixing up articles in our area of expertise. Plus, the teacher can introduce students to diffs and history. This will allow them to see components being added to the article by us. Then, they can learn that part of it at their own pace, without the daunting task of adding content and learning markup, etc. Besides, isn't it better to learn carpentry by seeing it done step by step, then going hands-on when and where comfortable, rather than just reading a book about it? I think editors forget how daunting and overwhelming first experiences at WP can be. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:39, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Feel free to take over. I'm just curious, what process do we follow when we find teachers teaching a class and students creating articles? Viriditas (talk) 06:54, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Precisely why I was encouraging the preparation of some sort of plan of action. None were to enthusiastic. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:07, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- It's the same problem the politicians have. No long term planning, and all they do is react to problems, not respond. Is it human nature or something in the water supply? :) Viriditas (talk) 07:09, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed. And then the mass clunkings start. Well, I'm going to put something together. Then, others can improve upon it, or replace it with another system. Better to have something in place, than nothing. The best idea I can come up with at the moment is a big fat table showing the articles, with cols for each step showing what's been done. A table on the same page with taskforce members, indicating which column they intend looking after. I guess that's better than the helter skelter system at NNU.
- Now is not such a good time (I'm going offline) but I think one solution might be to create a school project template for future use. Have a good night/day. Viriditas (talk) 07:49, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- What sort of template did you have in mind?
- I started the page, similar to NNU, here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:10, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
SFSU Lit. of Labor Project
Anna - - thanks so much for your interest in my/our class wikipedia project! I'm leaving you a message here - - because some of our possible discussion might better be kept "backstage" from student discussion etc.
I would love some assistance! I looked at the Wikipedia Ambassador page - and though I'm not 100% clear on how the ambassador project works - - I think it would be great to hookup with an ambassador. I have borrowed much of the structure of the project/assignment from Piotr Konieczyny's U. of Pittsburgh projects.
Students in my Lit. of Labor class at SFSU have been "practicing" mediawiki by editing/creating articles on our digital anthology of American lit - - Democratic Vistas, my own mediawiki installation, e.g. to get their feet wet in editing, article convention etc.
In any case, yes, please - - I would be very grateful for any assistance or sage guidance - - especially as how to best organize the project within Wikipedia's editorial structures and institutions. Thanks!

questions
I am wondering if you can send me the codes to do 3 things here, so I can print out your answer to refer to it for my next Wikipedia page I write. 1. If I mention someone when writing a Wikipedia page, and that person, say for instance, Humphrey Bogart, has a page in Wikipedia that is about them, I think I print their name in the sentence like this: He formed a partnership with Humphrey Bogart. Is that right? If not, how do I frame Humphrey Bogart's name? 2. What if there is more than one person with the same name in Wikipedia? How I specify which one I am linking it to? For instance, if I use the name Pitbull, who is a rapper (versus the species of dog), his Wikipedia page is Pitbull_rapper. So if I write the sentence, "He produced two tracks for Pitbull," how would I type that sentence, to code it to link to the Wikipedia page for Pitbull the rapper e, instead of linking it to the Wikpedia page about Pitbull dogs? How would you code the sentence "He produced two tracks for Pitbull?" 3. When I put up a footnote, for example, if I use as a reference or source, this page: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/10/14/us-finearts-christies-sale-idUSTRE79D60R20111014, how would I code that so the link to that article is embedded, but so that it reads as a footnote, "Richter, Gormley records fall at Christie's art sale?" Defgirl666 (talk) 01:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Phyllis Pollack
- (talk page stalker) Phyllis, Anna is not usually around on the weekends, so I'll try to answer your questions for you:
- You are correct. For more information see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking.
- Good question. That's called disambiguation. See also: Wikipedia:Disambiguation. Pitbull the rapper can be linked like this: Pitbull (rapper). However, you can "pipe" out the parenthesis like this Pitbull or like this Pitbull. See Help:Pipe trick for more info on piping.
- There are several ways to embed an external link. The easiest is to use brackets like this: Richter, Gormley records fall at Christie's art sale. To make it a footnote, make sure you have a references section with the {{reflist}} tag, and simply add a <ref>...</ref> tag to the embedded link and it will show up as a footnote. Viriditas (talk) 03:12, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I am trying to write to you to say thank you for answering the above 3 questions. I am still confused as far as how to communicate with the stalker/helper that answered the above questions. Thank you.

- Hello my friend. Okay. Be sure you own the photo. You can't just take a photo from the internet. Here's how to do it:
- 1. Upload the image here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
- 2. Paste this into your article: [[File:Bunny-Rabbit.jpg|thumb|right|150px|This is a picture of a bunny]]
- (Of course, add the name of your photo instead of the bunny rabbit stuff.)

Re:Snail slime
Haha, I really dont know. I just bumped on the page when patrolling new pages. I corrected two typos, but didnt check if it is actually true. If you want more info about that, you should talk to the page creator. But if it is a haox, he will probably not respond. It didnt strike me as that odd though: people also smear mud on their face and stick their hand in a pool of little fish that eat dead skin cells, so why not use snail slime? But if it is actually true, I would not know. Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:06, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- I know people put it on their faces. I just can't find anything other than tabloids on it. So, I took an axe to the body of the article. Now it's just a toe. The sources were bad and I couldn't find anything else. I let the creator know. I even sent the links back to mucus.
- And yes, you should try the little fish that eat your body. It's really tickly, especially if you go in up to your neck. It's actually quite maddening. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:12, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Cossde and Nalanda College Colombo

Your behaviour and attitude towards Nalanda College Colombo is appauling. I know that you are a highly decorated and awarded wikipedian. This time you even put "Nalanda Central College Colombo". What's next name on the list ? (Masu7 (talk) 22:58, 17 October 2011 (UTC)) I am reporting about User: Cossde He is deliberately attacking this web page and this time gone too far (Nalanda Central College Colombo). He seems to think that he only knows English and every thing he writes only is correct. I have gone through the pages that he had edited most and he is mostly inclined towards slinging mud towards a good looking and well written page like Nalanda College Colombo. Can a single user just because he is got highly decorated awards by wikipedia keep doing like this ? Nalanda College Colombo has got a high rate given by the viewers too. May be this guy is jealous of this. Will keep writing useful translations to SINHALA as well. In reality this school has it's own web pages nicely done on internet too.(Masu7 (talk) 01:29, 18 October 2011 (UTC)).
This link was posted to Cossde's talk page where an IP user has logged a page of disgruntled posts detailing their naming dispute. It's basically an attack page on how Cossde has been changing the references of Old Royalists to Alumni of various colleges in Sri Lanka back in Nov 2010. (I might nominate this for MfD) Basically this is boiling down to a content dispute which hasn't actually been discussed on any talk page. Masu7 has posted the same text they posted here on Cossde's talk page, which reeks of bad faith and ownership of the article. Having a look at Masu7's contribs, they're obviously a WP:SPA, not in a bad way, devoted to editing anything related to the Nalanda college. The problem is that this user has been here since 2007 and has a few thousand edits of which I can count on barely two hands the number of times they've used an edit summary. I suggest that Masu7 actually talk to Cossde and discuss the edits before hurling accusations at them. --Blackmane (talk) 08:40, 18 October 2011 (UTC) Hi, since I was named here, just wanted to say that my recent edits have been to rectify a naming anomaly on the articles since the name used in the Sri Lankan Governemnt Gazette [63]. The name stated Nalanda Maha Vidyalaya, translated to English it means Nalanda Big College, however Maha Vidyalaya is the name given to a form of government run schools known as central colleges hence the Nalanda Maha Vidyalaya would mean Nalanda Central College. Since it appeared so on the Sri Lankan Governemnt Gazette I renamed the articles accordingly as its a government school. Cossde (talk) 13:05, 18 October 2011 (UTC) Yes you are named here (a complaint about user Cossde) no doubt. This user seem to make words according to his/her own wish and still dominate and specifically target Nalanda College Colombo. It is extremely interesting to read user Cossde history pages [It's basically an attack page on how Cossde has been changing the references of Old Royalists to Alumni of various colleges in Sri Lanka back in Nov 2010. (I might nominate this for MfD) - please do so if Wikipedia has got a proper administration, I request as any one who understands English and read this page can understand what Cossde's motive is]. This is a classic clear cut of this user's [Cossde] ATTITUDE (specially towards other schools other than Highly Esteemed Royal College Colombo). I am amazed as to how this user got so many awards from Wikipedia. I am [user Masu7] not a super speaker of English or have no super understanding of millions of rules that are on Wikipedia web site (I think majority of users are in same boat as me).(Masu7 (talk) 01:26, 19 October 2011 (UTC)).
You are right about the Google Maps search. Wiki Article in question is the one that locates to central Colombo (next to Ananda as the article says). I am talking about Nalanda College in Colombo and below are the related sites both in English and Sinhala:
If for example Royal College is searched you get a Royal College Panadura [3], Royal College Polonnaruwa [4] etc. If some one wants to carry on the debate it will be never ending. It is not confusing. This is not a personal attack on any editor at all. It is just a fact that I am presenting to Wiki Administrators regarding none other than editor Cossde. If the administrators go through this users actions it is not hard to understand at all. I too appreciate the good work done by editor Cossde but not his attitude specially focussed to the site that I am concerned.(Masu7 (talk) 00:46, 20 October 2011 (UTC)).
Royal and other Schools - Royal College's maintains a century old rivalry with S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia as well as close ties with Trinity College, Kandy. Royal has long had a familial relationship with C.M.S. Ladies' College, Colombo : several families who chose to send their sons to Royal also chose to send their daughters to Ladies College, and many Old Royalists over the years have married alumni of C.M.S. Ladies' College, Colombo. In 1945, Minister of Education C. W. W. Kannangara began the establishment of central colleges (Madhya Maha Vidhyala) as part of the Free Education policy to provide secondary education for the rural masses, he modeled these schools on the general structure of Royal College. Although there are several schools in parts of the island that have adapted the name Royal College in the post-independence era; none have links to Royal College Colombo nor have been received formal permission to use the Royal prefix. This makes sense why editors like Cossde are trying their best to make any school coming up as Royal on wikipedia to be renamed as Rajakeeya (this is the name in Sinhala for Royal) or to isolate from Royal College Colombo. On Cinnamon Gardens page it tries to isolate Thurstan College that is located just closer to Royal College (when a map searching is done on Google Maps) being added. If such a statement is added to one of the other schools it will be deleted immediately saying that "Wikipedia is not for promotional activity". Why double standards and policies ?. Who monitors activity on Royal College, Colombo ?. (Masu7 (talk) 08:59, 20 October 2011 (UTC)). (Masu7 (talk) 22:42, 20 October 2011 (UTC)). |
- What? Who? Me? Huh? Baking powder? I don't see how I am part of this. Thanks for the confusing post. Here's one for you:

Since, BMI Appraisals is not a North American or European company; its references are local or located in East Asia. I believe since this part of the world is not well know by Wiki staff, some of the references are being overlooked.
For instance if my reference was “Green Pease” wiki staff may consider it reliable , but “The Business Environment Council (BEC)” which is a similar organization in Hong Kong with longer history then Wikipedia is being undermined in your review. “The Business Environment Council (BEC) is the longest running independent, non-profit organization in Hong Kong promoting corporate social and environmental responsibility. I really wanted to thank you so much for your help. The footnotes look awesome! I was in physical therapy for 3 hours today, so I lost a lot of time out of the day, and I need to go lay down. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BMI Appraisals
Hello Anna,
It may appear I am in conflict of interest, but I just hope you understand that I am not an expert in all the Wiki's rules and therefore was having honest oversight for not declaring my position at the User Pager as suggested from a conflict of interest; however, please understand that the center issue surrounding the matter is really WP:GNG and please help us in retify that challenge together as I am really a beginner with Wiki's rule and technical details (took me a while to learn the coding as well); however, I am good with research and can/will find more relevant materials you agree and post more here.
Also, due to whatever reason, I was not immediately contacted by Wiki on 10-16-2011 regarding this deletion matter, and it was until only 10-20-2011, then I realized of this matter. And now I only have a couple days to prove my case, so I am kindly asking if it is possible for you to give us at lease three more weeks time (grace period) from today to collect addtional information just to show that why BMI Appraisals is an important company in Hong Kong and deserve a place on Wiki. I understand HOng Kong is a small community compare with United States or Europe, but please give this small community a chance on Wiki. Locally we don't have publicity like the CNN or Fox news to cover news about us, but I hope Wiki does not discourage publication from smaller regional player.
Although BMI Appraisals may not be a fortune 100 company like Pfizer or IBM, but the critical function this company provides does allow many companies successfully established their presence to what Pfizer and IBM has become. So I kindly asked during this grace period, please offer your wiki's expertise while allowing me to do the backend research work and to become part of this wiki's community. Perhaps there are some misunderstandings, but with your guidance I am sure we can resolve them together.
many thanks,
Bmi bmi (talk) 10:33, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- The article needs reliable sources that are not affiliated with BMI. Blogs, official websites, and self-published sources are not considered reliable. Books, magazines, newspaper articles, or online news sources are all reliable sources. Sources do not need to be in English, nor do they have to be online. After you add reliable sources, you can remove the proposed deletion tag. Best, Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 14:07, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Hello Alpha,
Ok, i will dig up online news sources, but they will be in chinese. However, hope that will satisfy. Also, I would like to ask for three weeks grace period prior wiki exercising deletion in order to gather resources; i am expecting back and forth communication between you or with Anna for some assistance. your understanding is appreciated.
thanks,

- The only way that I know to be sure of a three weeks grace period is to work on a draft of the article in a less official area called "user space." I'll need your correct (non corporate) user name in order to give you a link to where you can work on a draft. Then when the article is fixed up enough it can be moved back to where official articles go.
- You need a user name that does not mention your company and is used only by one individual. So just let somebody know your correct individual user name (and don't use the corporate one again). Then it will be easy to show you how to set up a "user space draft" connected to that non-corporate user name where you can work on the article. Cloveapple (talk) 15:59, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
hi cloveapple,
noted. how to setup the "user space"? Do I re-register using a new user name first?
thanks,

Talk pages
Hi Anna
I am somewhat new to wk so all this is very overwhelming.
I am trying to figure out how to break in but I probably should first master these talk and user pages?? My talk page is where I "talk" to other wikipedians and they respond--if they happen to be looking at my talkpage--as you did? And then I click on the link to respond to what you wrote on my talk page? So this will appear on your talk page (and mine as well?)?
And how is it that you stumbled on my talkpage?
And, while I will look it up (in wk of course! ):), what exactly is the difference btwn a talk page and a user page?
Thanks

hi
hi,Anna,i not konw how can i work for my article . see there is the on the top of my article :This article contains translated text and needs attention from someone approaching dual fluency in Chinese and English. Please see this article's entry on Pages needing translation into English for discussion.
If you have just labeled this page as needing such attention, please add
The initial language of this article was Chinese. NNU-10-24100108 (talk) 14:05, 22 October 2011 (UTC) to the bottom of the WP:PNTCU section on Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English
I really noe know how do deal with that ,i realy want you can help me . thank you very much.
- Hello NNU-10-24100108:
- Anna is out of office, so please allow me to help. :) The way you fix it is by translating the Chinese words to English.
- For example in the sentence:
It borders Niushou Mountain and 大石头观光休闲区 and is close to 龙泉古寺. Today, it is a place of historical interest in [[Nanjing]].
- Please translate 大石头观光休闲区 and 龙泉古寺. Chinese translation is only needed for the title of the page. The translation tag can be removed once you have translated all the Chinese words in the article to English. — Ganeshk (talk) 14:35, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Ganeshk. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:46, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
BMI Appraisals
Hi Anna,
Noted with your removal. Cloveapple suggested to create a draft on "user space" and to change the user name to something less related to the corporate identity in order to qualify the three weeks grace periods. May I ask how i can setup a page on "user space" with a new user name? Do I just register with a new login name agin?
thanks

keep all the talk on one page
hi anna,
how can i keep all the talk from various parties in one page? or how to leave message on my own talk page and others will be notified to reply on my talk page?
please help.
thanks,
Bmi bmi (talk) 09:26, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. Just abandon your current username(s). Make a new one and start fresh. Then stick to that account. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:43, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Tips:
- Discussions about BMI Appraisals can be centralized at the article's talk page. You know where that is because you've posted there before.
- When you reply to a post at your talk, and want to let the other party know, post this on their talk page:
==Message==
{{wb|bmi bmi}} ~~~~~
- When you've made an account, if you have trouble making a sandbox (subpage), please ask. I will help.
Hi Anna,
I have created an user "busybee007". Now, do i need to do any document transferring from "bmi bmi" to "busybee007"? Last time when I used the centralized function was directed by user "puffy", I didn't automatically learn that. However, let me re-figure it again. What is this sandbox (subpage)? Is that what "cloveapple" is suggesting to use as a personal page? IF so, can you give me some guidances?
thanks,

adding images
Hi Anna-
I am working with the SFSU Class Project, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Classroom_coordination/SFSU_Class_Project
I added an image to this page:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_on_the_Forge But apparently I have not provided adequate information to use the image. I keep trying to figure it out but I don't understand what exactly I need to add in order to use the image. Could you help me/explain what other information I need to include? thank you very much. Michaela M (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:06, 24 October 2011 (UTC).
- (talk page stalker) Done. I added 1) a non-free use rationale and a 2) license for a non-free book cover. Please look at the image description page in edit mode to see what I did. Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 22:35, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- BTW, there is a first edition cover that is available, and I believe that is preferred instead of the paperback. I will try to upload it later tonight. Viriditas (talk) 22:38, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've uploaded the new image. Viriditas (talk) 23:04, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
thank you! - Michaela M (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:24, 25 October 2011 (UTC).
