your edit of my user information
Anna, Thank you for your help - I assumed that I should provide my complete information for verification purposes. - Gary Grasso — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.197.93.228 (talk) 23:50, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Gary. Actually, quite the opposite. You now have an account, and nothing further is required. Privacy and anonymity is usually a good thing. Considering what you've just written above, I've deleted your userpage. You may restore whatever information you wish, but I would recommend against adding personal or promotional content.
- If there is anything you ever need or have any questions, please ask. Thank you, and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:59, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
- I will simply enter Gary Grasso as the user page information - will that be acceptable? - Thank you Gary Grasso (talk) 00:06, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
- thanks again for your help - alternatively are you suggesting that a user page be left blank ? Gary Grasso (talk) 00:07, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
- You can express yourself there! Look at Anna's, or my pitiful example ;) Irondome (talk) 00:11, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
- thanks again for your help - alternatively are you suggesting that a user page be left blank ? Gary Grasso (talk) 00:07, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Gary. Just your name is fine or blank or anything. Promo content isn't allowed, and personal details might not be a great idea. Please see WP:NOT and WP:UPYES. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:20, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Anna, I'm just trying to learn how this thing works and I putting Info on that I know of, But I don't think I'm blocked yet but thanks for the reminder. 22:35, 24 September 2014 User:Stephen Knight Mr Wiki

From Jose Vergara
I understand you deleted a page I created under JOSE VERGARA
I am Jose Vergara and I own the www.josevergara.com. I did not violate any copyrights.
Is it possible to update the page again?
Thanks, Jose Vergara — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose Vergara (talk • contribs) 22:35, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Jose. Hello, and welcome.
- Yes, I deleted your userpage. If the website does not say that the content is public domain, then we must assume that it is copyrighted. And even though your account name here is Jose Vergara, and I am sure you are Jose Vergara, we must protect Wikipedia and Jose Vergara just in case you are not Jose Vergara.
- You wish to update the page again, but why? I am guessing it is one of these two reasons: You working on a draft article for the encyclopedia. ...or... You wish to have your userpage contain your bio and lots of info about yourself and not have an article about yourself. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:43, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

You wish to have your userpage contain your bio and lots of info about yourself and not have an article about yourself. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:43, 24 September 2014 "
- I really do not understand your question or statement. Do you want to know WHY do I want to have a Wikipedia page? Do I have to have a WHY accepted to have the page on Wikipedia?
- Second: Do you want to know if I want to have my bio and lots of information about me on Wikipedia? The fact that i posted it, so I want to.
- Third: Do you want to know if I want to have an article about me on WIKIPEDIA instead of a large bio? Yes, I could do that. What is your suggestion?
- Is English your fist language? i have a bit of problem trying to understand it. Thanks, Jose Vergara 22:55, 24 September 2014
- Hi, Jose.
- To answer your questions:
- First: A. Yes. B. Yes.
- Second: Yes, I want to know. And now I know.
- Third: Yes, I want to know. My suggestion is that you do not, as you are probably not notable, and if you were, writing an article about yourself is strongly discouraged.
- To answer your questions:
- So sorry to confuse you. Allow me to explain. There are generally two places you can have information about a subject (such as a person or thing or place) at Wikipedia. One is the main part of the encyclopedia (and that place is called an "article"). The other place is a userpage.
- To answer some of your other questions: English is my first language. And yes, all editors here are allowed to ask why certain things are posted at one's userpage. We are allowed to object if, say, a userpage consists of a lengthy biography, fake article, blog, etc.
- If you have further questions, please ask. I will do my best to answer clearly. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:32, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Anna
Hi Anna,
How have you been? Have'nt heard from you in a while. Anyway once again an issue has come up and i need your guidance. An admin on wiki commons has deleted one of the images i have taken 'File:12431 Rajdhani Express.jpg' based on dubious information about it being a derivative work [1].
While i am in discussion with the admin who has deleted the image, i needed you to take a look and if i could know your opinion, it would be helpful.
Superfast1111 (talk) 18:25, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Superfast1111. Long time. Okay. You were given Derivative works as a guide. The diagram there makes these 3 points perfectly clear:
- 1. If an alien spaceship comes down and spews out all sorts of junk, a photo of the spaceship may or may not be allowed at commons.
- 2. However, if a chess piece comes out, you cannot take a picture of it, unless it is inside a small house at the time.
- 3. Gray cubes are in the public domain, period.
- Seriously though, I am not a commons admin, so cannot even see the pic. There might of been something in it that was not permitted. There were no specific details provided at Commons:Deletion requests/File:12431 Rajdhani Express.jpg. Maybe talk to Hedwig in Washington over at commons. He's nice and has been very helpful in the past. Tell him I sent you. Tell him I said "Bunny, bunny, you're so funny. You like toast with lots of honey." :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:28, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anna, i have written to your friend so lets see what he says. My worry is that almost all of the nearly 1200 images that i have taken are of trains taken by me under almost identical conditions so how come only one was targeted? Thanks for the assist.
Superfast1111 (talk) 07:34, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. Don't worry. I am sure nobody will suddenly delete 1200 images. Let's see what Hedwig says.
- Oh, and one more thing. Please, please, please indent your signature to the right spot. You always allow it to be at the left edge. I mentioned it to you a long time ago, and still it is the same. It is confusing. Please, I would be very grateful, and I am sure other would be too. Thank you so much. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:33, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anna, i finally managed to get the admin to reveal what the specific problem was. Turns out that when i had taken the image, that particular rake had been rented by a telcom company who has plastered their logo all over the rake and it had been captured in the image also. So i have blacked it out and reloaded it [2]. Hopefully that will be the end of it but i do wonder why specific problems are never made known and other users are sent on a wild goose chase.Superfast1111 (talk) 05:03, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- First: YAY! You got your signature in the right place. :) Second: Yes, it would have been nice to get an explanation like "...there was a logo in the middle of the image, and that was a copyvio..." I think that if there is something copyrighted in the image, it is allowed provided that it is not a prominent feature. You can have a Starbucks logo visibile quite far away on some billboard in a street scene, but not a picture of giant Starbucks advert with a kid eating an icecream beside it. If it is something in between, it is a judgement call. In your image, it was pretty much a prominent feature. I could be off on this one a bit, but I think that is how it all works. Anyhow, all's well that ends well. :) Anna F remote (talk) 00:26, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Question to those planning to seek admin privileges
Regarding this edit: did you mean "If so" instead of "If no"? I usually don't raise queries about possible typos, but in this case, you appear to be soliciting feedback from the opposite group of editors that I believe you actually want to hear from, so I wanted to double-check. isaacl (talk) 00:39, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- I meant "no", but thanks for checking. I've clarified the post. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:52, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Sockpuppet needs blocking
Hi, Anna sorry to bother you again but there is a sockpuppet (an IP and User) who has been reverted by Dusti on two pages following my message for him to do so over a number of weeks but they have carried on re-reverting. You will find the last two edits on this page one by a User and the other by an IP. Lukejordan02 (talk) 23:36, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- Could you revert the edit here and revert to the revision here or give me permission to on the basis i have discussed with an administrator, thanks for the time and kind regards. (PS. - I have asked Dusti but think he is away today) Lukejordan02 (talk) 00:26, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Done. I will not block, but will give him plenty more notices before that. Much to gain and little to lose. Reasoning with him and showing him that unsourced content won't stick, and will waste his efforts may be persuasive.
- I know sometimes you want to revert badly. Sometimes being patient sometimes works well. Instead of the edit summary "vandalism", just call it "revert unsourced". Sure, it is probably, technically vandalism when it goes too far, but the other edit summary is better. Repeatedly ask for him to discuss at article talk and tell him about WP:BRD. If he persists after you have repeatedly urged him to use article talk, then he loses his rights. Consider starting the talk discussion yourself. Others may join in or even do all the reverting for you. Always look for alternatives to head-to-head conflict. Coming here and to Dusti's page is a step in the right direction. Even better may be the article talk page. Of course, WWE Global Warning only has 8 watchers, so don't expect the moon.
- As for WWE Global Warning, I've protected it for 2 weeks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:17, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Cleanup? Hmmmm, that should really be "revert unsourced", right? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:21, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, thank you for the help and thanks for letting me know the correct edit summary to use i will use this from now on, i am still learning but i hope i have proven to you and Dusti that all the time you have spent on me wasn't a waste :) Lukejordan02 (talk) 01:43, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Happy to help. Actually, it is Dusti who has invested the vast majority of energy. I trust that you will continue along these new lines. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:52, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes I will, like i said on my talk page, the reason why i have been able to make the change was because I realised what the problem. I was a genre warrior but i have gave myself a genre editing block so you wont see me editing genres at all now, by doing this i have solved my own problem (I should of done this ages ago.) Also sorry for using the incorrect edit summary on the edit you mentioned above it wasn't intentional. Kind regards and thanks again. Lukejordan02 (talk) 02:04, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Edit warring
Hi, two users have been edit warring on this page for weeks and i am tired of seeing it, the only reason i haven't reported 'em is because i didnt want to get involved but something needs doing, this isnt the first time one of them has edit warred, i think they should both be blocked. Lukejordan02 (talk) 05:02, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Are you talking about Wickorama and Gsfelipe94? If so, then I must disagree. They should not both be blocked. A better plan would be for you to talk to them at their talk pages and ask them to use Talk:The Ultimate Fighter: A Champion Will Be Crowned to discuss things. I see zero posts about edit warring at their talks. Practice a bit of diplomacy. Tell them about BRD. Start an article talk thread for them and give them the links. Get them talking. Stuff like that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:27, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, thats who i am referring to, if you look at Gsfelipe94's history he has a history of starting edit wars. Lukejordan02 (talk) 12:40, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Starting? Wars? That is a bold accusation. Do you have diffs to back that up? Maybe getting involved in... and content disputes may be more accurate. I do not know. I mean, you may be right, but it is often not so clear who started what. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:42, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

- I suggested that you talk to them. You didn't, so I did. [3][4][5] I included Sly0981, but am not sure how he fits into all of this. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:47, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry Anna i missed this reply. "Starting edit wars", it may be a bold accusation but its true, i know from personal experience as i have had "discussions" with him in the past. He means well but just goes about the discussion process the wrong way. And i hope you don't think i was ignoring your advice about talking to them as i am way to smart to do that, i just simply didn't no what to say and i don't like getting involved in other peoples arguments especially with my history on here. The only reason i even got this involved was i was trying to do good for the site. :) Lukejordan02 (talk) 14:52, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Lukejordan02. It is only true to me if I see evidence. You also mention that he goes about discussions the wrong way, but with User talk:110.32.164.67, your very first contact with him is a huge red stop sign with a hand and the title "Stop!" The editor responded with reason and calmness. Consider a gentler way. Also, you do not have to go in there as a warrior ready to fight. Go in as a diplomat. You do not need to be part of the dispute. You can just help others work it out together. I seldom involve myself in the actually matter. I don't care to read huge paragraphs and sort out who is right on a topic I know nothing about. Try to help everything get settled without it turning into a battle. Anna F remote (talk) 00:19, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, thank you very much for the advice i will take it all on board, and i hope you don't think bad of me, i am still learning and progressing on wikipedia and want to be useful to the site not a nuisance on it. Lukejordan02 (talk) 00:22, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not at all. As I said before, I am impressed with your new start. Anyhow, when dealing with others, it is totally worthwhile to AGF, be nice, try to work things out, avoid hostility of any kind, get off on the right foot, acknowledge their point of view, compromise, try to solve things, etc... and stay away from the opposite. The results are phenomenal. Things get sorted out fast, everybody's happy, nobody gets mad and quits the project, fewer keystrokes, and you can move on to the next matter. Help wanted
Hi, can you help me? I would like it if you could to make this page editable again so i can create the page as i have created loads of UFC event pages and this is now the only one that hasn't got one, i understand why it was deleted before and but also understand that i can be recreated as long as it isn't simply restoring an old version. The reason it was blocked from editing is because of an edit war that happened ages ago. I would really appreciate the help as i am trying to get all the UFC event pages up to top standard, kind regards. Lukejordan02 (talk) 18:11, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- I posted here. I'll let you two handle it from here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:55, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- I didn't close the AfD, nor was I the first to protect it. I don't have any particular opinion on what should ultimately happen, but I don't think I should unprotect the redirect at this time. The AfD closer is the right person to ask (or, failing that, WP:DRV). Either case would probably require either a new draft, or at least new sources to show the old decision is no longer applicable. WilyD 07:45, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you kindly. WilyD. There you have it, Lukejordan02. Now you know what to do next. Good luck. Anna F remote (talk) 23:53, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- Anna, unfortunately the original protector is long retired, so i am now scratching my head as i am still new to all of this stuff. According to this the consensus was to keep the page, so i don't see why it was ever deleted. I know your busy but if you could look into it i would realy appreciate it. Thanks. Any argument about it being non notable is not true heres just a handful of big sites mentioning the event. Fox, CBS, Yahoo sports , SPortsillustrated/cnn and Chigaco Sun times. So as you can see it is far more notable than loads of pages on here. Lukejordan02 (talk) 00:16, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Please take whatever action you like if you wish to do something now. Perhaps another admin or stalker can help. I am on a rubbish computer away from home with no admin tools, so I can help when I return in a week if it is not sorted out by then. Anna F remote (talk) 01:25, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Given it's been AfD'd and DRV'd, probably there's no reasonable route to restoration other than a new DRV that brings new sources to the table. What would probably be extremely valuable would be a source or sources that weren't proximate to the event (or someone will complain that it fails WP:NOTNEWS, which is a popular is not always applicable argument. But note that every pro baseball/football/hockey/basketball/other football/other other football/skinty/etc match meets WP:N by the letter, which is why we don't usually want articles on a sports match unless it's notable (we as a community - not sure I care)) WilyD 07:30, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Every administrator I know seems to be on holiday so i will wait for you next week Anna, after all theres no rush. :) Lukejordan02 (talk) 17:38, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Wily gives good guidance. Why not make a sandbox draft? New sources, good content. Also, you say "...is now the only one that hasn't got one...". Now, there is no policy or guideline that says we have to fill in gaps, but I think that is a good argument nonetheless. There might be some way to bend the rules on this one and just boldly make it and see who gets upset. Probably not a good idea, but maybe, just maybe there's a way. I mean, we're in the business of making decent product, and bureaucracy mustn't stop that. So, if the draft is good, let's see. :) Anna F remote (talk) 00:39, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, here / here is the page to be created, it is very sourced and with it being the first event in a seven year deal between the UFC and Fox very notable. This page is much better than the previous version deleted (i also have an image that can be uploaded once it has its own page.) In regard to what you said above about see who gets upset, I think we'll be all-right because the only person that seemed to want this and every other UFC article page on wikipedia deleted has long retired User talk:Mtking (and judging by the message they left on there page they seem very hostile towards Wiki and its users.) Lukejordan02 (talk) 01:06, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Lukejordan02, I remember Mtking and have nothing bad to say about him. A lot of users were very hostile toward him. I actually was on the other side of the discussion about UFC articles at one point, and drove him nuts. He was patient, cited guidelines, and others agreed with him. I eventually saw his side and agreed. That was quite some time ago. Since then, I think there has been a big movement to see all those articles created. I think. If that is the case, the fastest way would be for you to bring this to DRV with the facts you present above. I would not expect much resistance. Anna F remote (talk) 05:24, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know DRV well, but key points might be: 2 yrs ago and things have changed in the UFC article sphere. New sources. Rewritten. Last of a complete set to be created. Notable for XXXX reasons. Whatever else you can come up with. Kitchen sink it. Anna F remote (talk) 05:26, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- I have since posted it here but everyone says i should be posted here and then there, it reminds of when you phone up your gas company and you have to speak to 20 people before you get anything done. Surely the fact that no one objects to it being recreated means it of should of been sorted by now then everyone could waste time on a more important matter :( Lukejordan02 (talk) 16:54, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- I posted there in bold asking for this to be solved ASAP. Sorry I don't have admin tools right now, or I'd do it myself. Maybe stalking admins will unprotect and let you get to the thing we all like to see you doing: creating product. You are being very patient. :) Anna F remote (talk) 01:08, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anna - thank you so much for all your help, I can't thank you enough and I am sorry to have wasted so much of your time on this matter, I'm suprised at how patient I am being myself, I had thought of just walking away from the matter but really want to create the article :) Lukejordan02 (talk) 01:18, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not at all. I am the one who is sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I am just having trouble checking pages and histories and everything. The bandwidth is bad here and I'm working on this teeny teeny stupid little keyboard. Anyhow, maybe typing bold was a bit much, but I really would like to see the page freed up so that you can make the article. Thank you again for your patience and keep up the good work. Anna F remote (talk) 04:33, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- Every administrator I know seems to be on holiday so i will wait for you next week Anna, after all theres no rush. :) Lukejordan02 (talk) 17:38, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Intercontinental Cup
Anna, who will moderate the discussion? Previously there were discussions in that article came to nothing because basically nobody cares.--Dantetheperuvian (talk) 02:25, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- That discussion was two years ago, contained a huge amount of text (which discourages others to get involved), was with an IP that hardly edited, and was ended when another user impolitely said that the discussion was "stupid". I'd suggest that no moderation is needed. A simple post with a few sources and a statement like "Yes or no, should we add this?" The result of that, short and sweet, will give you an indication about whether or not it should be in the article, and if the whole thing is worth a million words of persuasion. Help
Hi, @Anna Frodesiak: I am having isues with user Kww. Ever since he joined in on the conversation regarding the article i want to create he has been stalking my history and re-directing any pages i have made (saying they were previous AFDs.) I have spent a lot of time on these articles and to have someone just remove it for no good reason in seconds is very disheartening. Please help. Lukejordan02 (talk) 00:39, 5 October 2014 (UTC) He has since been very petty and childish and protected the article followiing a revert and explanation from me, see here Lukejordan02 (talk) 00:40, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not petty or childish at all. User:JonnyBonesJones has been disruptive in all of his guises.—Kww(talk) 00:41, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Well, the UFC 149 talk page says "...This page was nominated for deletion on 28 March 2012 (UTC). The result of the discussion was redirect to 2012 in UFC events#UFC 149...", so he has every right to do that. About the article we were discussing in the posts above: You said that it was the last missing one and all the others were articles. Is this still the case? If you wish to see a whole bunch of event articles restored that are now redirects (and became redirects as a result of AfDs), then you might consider raising the whole matter at the MMA project page as a first step. I am not up to date on what happened after Mtking left. Is there broad consensus that all of these should now be articles again? Until this is resolved, I cannot endorse the unprotection of the article we discussed in posts above.
- Saying "...He has since been very petty and childish ..." is way out of line. That is a comment on the person and not the edits. Even saying that his edits are... is not so nice. If you want people to help you, you must avoid such comments. Nobody wants to side with someone who insults others.
- Lukejordan02, please understand, do not focus on what Kww wants, or what I want, or what you want. It is about what Wikipedia wants. And what Wikipedia wants is what the community at large wants.
- As for accusation that you are JonnyBonesJones, I must ask: Kww: Do you have evidence? Do you have a good reason to think so? Lukejordan02: Are you? Both: Is there some fresh start I don't know about? Anna F remote (talk) 03:09, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- If it was a fresh start, he blew it by returning to the UFC area. No, there is no broad consensus that the articles in question should be restored. It was always the primary driver behid JonnyBonesJones's edits.—Kww(talk) 03:27, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Archiving
Hello, Can you help archive my talk page? I have issues doing so. I tried following these instructions, but computer code isn't my kind of language. I want to archive by month since it hasn't been the end of the year yet for my account, but I would like to keep the current month open then have a bot archive it automatically for me. --Thnx & Cheers-- JudeccaXIII (talk) 19:07, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, JudeccaXIII. I think you just need to glue the below code to the top of your talk page. Maybe a stakler here could have a look and confirm that it is right. I do manual archiving, so am not the most experienced person to ask.

Could you help me?
Hi Anna. I was wondering if you could help me to make/start a proper and non-disruptive discussion for a new consensus regarding the UFC articles. Here is a list of reasons why i think they should be created.
- UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis (first to be broadcasted on fox as part of a 7 year contract deal with the UFC. The event averaged 4.7 million viewers with a ratings peak of 6 million viewers for the main event.)
- UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger (first event to air on Fuel TV. At the time, the event was the most watched show ever aired on Fuel TV with 217,000 viewers tuning in)
- UFC on Fuel TV: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier (winner of the main event of this card was linked to a potential bout with José Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Championship, a fight occurred 15 months lather at UFC 163.)
- UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall (this event was the first UFC event to be headlined by a flyweight bout. Featured the Semi final of the flyweight tournament the winner of which went on to win the title and is still currently champion now (2 years later.)
- UFC 149 (one of the UFC's main events (numbered events) on PPV. Featured debut UFC fight of Hector Lombard, who is currently number 6 in the welterweight rank. Featured championship match were Renan Barao won the belt he kept it for nearly 2 years and built up an undefeated streak of 33.)
- UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping (if other events get created then this would be only 1 of 2 UFC events of the 294 not to have an article)
- UFC 156 (one of the UFC's main events (numbered events) on PPV. Featured UFC on Tyron Woodley who is currently third in the welterweight rank. Event also features debut of current UFC fighter Dustin Kimura.)
- UFC on Fuel TV: Barao vs. McDonald (if other events get created then this would be only 1 of 2 UFC events of the 294 not to have an article)
- UFC 157 (one of the UFC's main events (numbered events) on PPV. Featured the first ever women's fight in UFC (need i say more?)
- UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Melendez (feature fight between (then) current lightweight champion and strikeforce lightweight champion. T.J Dillashaw fought at this event the current Bantamweight champion (and was one in a row of fights that gave him his match for the belt.)

- Oh, dear. A couple of things to discuss first:
- 1. Were all the items you list here at AfD?
- 2. You provide individual reasons for each to be created/restored. Are you talking about a proposal to allow group creation of them each based on different reasons? Are you talking about a proposal to change the criteria in general so that these can be created? If the latter, here are some more issues:
- 3. When responses come, do you intend on getting into the discussion and arguing for the articles' existence? Have you read the following very thoroughly?
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 1
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 2
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 3
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 4
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 5
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 6
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 7
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 8
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts/MMA notability/Archive 9
- 4. I remember User:Kww saying that the Project MMA community was in favour but the community at large was not. You should ask him for links to discussions showing that.
- 5. Once everything is read, you would need to make a proposal. I think it is important to declare in the proposal that the community at present is against the idea with links and reasons why. The proposal ought to also contain your new reasons why the community should change its mind. By new, I mean not a rehash of arguments in the broader community discussions or in the above archives.
- 6. Keep your proposal concise. Maybe write it in a way that encourages a straw poll-type response. You could do that by ending the proposal with a simple question of whether or not this is a good idea. That could save the community a whole bunch of time and give you a clear idea of where everybody stands. I would suggest, once posted, that you back off and hear what the community says.
- 7. So, any idea of where you would post this proposal? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:26, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anna, thank you vey much for taking the time to respond i really appreciate it.
- 1. Were all the items you list here at AfD? - Yes
- 2. You provide individual reasons for each to be created/restored. Are you talking about a proposal to allow group creation of them each based on different reasons? Are you talking about a proposal to change the criteria in general so that these can be created? - I am talking about individual reasons why these specific articles should be created.
- 3. When responses come, do you intend on getting into the discussion and arguing for the articles' existence? Have you read the following very thoroughly? - I don't intend on being disruptive but if someone mentions a point I will try to respond. I have read through some of them but not every bit of everyone.
- 4. I remember User:Kww saying that the Project MMA community was in favour but the community at large was not. You should ask him for links to discussions showing that. - If you could ask him i tink that wouod be better, he still thinks i am a sock even though it was proven I'm not (talk about not following AGF) and is ignoring me.
- 5. OK
- 6. OK
- 7. So, any idea of where you would post this proposal? - I dont know, where do you think is best? (Somewere where it will be seen by multiple people and not just a specific group of people.) Lukejordan02 (talk) 11:46, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Lukejordan02, The real question is "How on earth did all these articles get created again?" We've been through this before, with MMA fans creating an article for every event. We don't permit for any other sport: note that we don't have an award for every NFL game, despite that fact that any individual NFL game gets more coverage than any MMA event. Look at the arguments in the individual AFD discussions. I summed up the policy-based consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/UFC 157, which survived DRV:Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2012_November 16. Pretty much every MMA article that was deleted got taken to DRV, and the deletions got upheld on similar grounds. It's not a matter of being able to show sources for individual events, it's that the coverage for individual events is routine. There's nothing that separates one from another, and no reason to have individual articles. The MMA community tried to keep its material in lists, but failed because it was unable to agree on a list format that didn't look like 200 articles all jammed together. I lost track of it at that point. I'm sorry to see that the articles are back, because that means we are going to have to start the long, messy process of getting rid of them all again. That's a process that doesn't need to be made harder by having more recreations.—Kww(talk) 13:53, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- 7. So, any idea of where you would post this proposal? - I dont know, where do you think is best? (Somewere where it will be seen by multiple people and not just a specific group of people.) Lukejordan02 (talk) 11:46, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Kww, when you say recreation, do you mean sections in these summary articles, or standalones?
- Only these two are articles. The others redirect to parent articles:
- (Both of those were Luke recreations after AfD delete result, so should rightly be redirected again, correct?)
- Kww, I could use your guidance on this. He wants some single post to discuss the recreation of them all, but he provides individual reasons for each to be a standalone, so no policy change to give blanket rationale. I don't want to recommend individual deletion reviews, as we have danced that dance a million times, and a single post anywhere would yield "no blanket guidelines can justify mass recreation, so DR is thataway", so what guidance should be given to Luke on this? My view is "drop it and edit elsewhere". Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:04, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- The problem is that UFC 1 through UFC 183 seem to have a lot of articles in there and they were all supposed to go back to being redirects to list articles. There shouldn't be any articles about individual UFC events. The question isn't "how do we get Luke permission to make the problem bigger", the question is "how do we get the MMA community to stop doing this?"—Kww(talk) 14:26, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

- 1-183? Any AfD deletes that were recreated without going through DR? Any out of those notable? Enduring?
- When you say MMA community, do you mean project members in particular? You said before that the project likes the articles, but the community at large doesn't. So how about a village pump post or something? I want to put this all to rest as much as you do. I don't even care one way or the other any more. I just want the community at large to speak up loud and clear and once and for all. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:34, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Let me give this some thought. I don't have a quick answer.—Kww(talk) 14:38, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Kww, fair enough. I'd be happy to work with you to get this settled. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:10, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Anna the community has spoken multiple times in the past that they want the UFC events as separate articles with only a few thinking they shouldn't have their own articles, i don't see the problem with them having their own articles, the articles are useful for educational and research purposes and its not exactly as if Wikipedia is short of space as they could use the room elsewhere. The fact that KWW keeps using the same argument that Mtking previously used makes me think its is the same person. Anna i think their should be a complete new discussion regarding the whole think at large and see if here can be an agreement that pleases everyone once and for all because you administrators keep going on about disruptive editing but deleting perfectly good articles is disruptive and the argument that KWW keeps using simply sounds like I just don't like it instead of a good reason why they shouldn't have there own articles. Lukejordan02 (talk) 14:50, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

- I don't like it? There are policies and guidelines cited for delete. You could be accused of "I like it". You have to have good reasons why they should be articles. Good reasons against having these articles have been presented a lot in the links I gave you above. If you are after a broad consensus that all these articles are notable, then you need something to supersede the policies and guidelines that say they are not. So, what argument do you have that is compelling? Tell me and I may take your side? What have you got? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:57, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- And Lukejordan02, if you can't come up anything right now, please be patient. I strongly suggest that you put this whole recreation project on hold for now. In the meantime, search for things that you are interested in apart from MMA. Write about them. You seem to be a young male who likes the whole wrestling fighting thing. Perhaps something related? Maybe war, guns, bizarre weapons that armies are developing for crowd control? There must be dozens of those in the works. If you insist on MMA, maybe articles on things other than events. I see these matches take place in an octogon. Is there an article on that? Notable referees? Equipment? Here are some possible refs for an article titled Octogon (arena). If you can find more, maybe it's worth an article.

- OK Anna, thanks for the comment I will have a think. Before i go i just want to say one more thing that might help in some way. One of the main reasons why i am against the articles being kept in a page like 2013 in UFC is because i believe the posters are an important part of the article but there was a message added on the page about adding them, if they were allowed to be added i would be more for it. Hi; I just saw this and wanted to comment that rather than simply delete all that, which includes a lot of valuable information, my own tack on that kind of thing is to paraphrase/rearrange such materials; in this case the 10,000 non-band members is important as their reserves are a big chunk of the population/market of West Kelowna, though I'm unclear as to whether they vote in municipal elections (probably not) or pay municipal taxes (definitely not); though kids from there would go to regular school-district schools. I rearranged similar maybe-COPYVIO material on Nuxalk Nation/Nuxalk - though in that case their citation for that website (www.nuxalk.net) was the Wikipedia article on them..... chicken-and-egg problem maybe (then there was only one article, not the government/ethno-people split currently in place), and on other pages; other than the non-member bit details about the council and such should still remain,if reworded.... and IMO best to work with and mentor AUTO/COI users like User:Wfncommunications, who is a band member, possibly even the council member responsible for communications, rather than alienate them. It's hard enough to get native people to contribute to Wikipedia; many are alienated because of the parochial nature of non-native cites used, and by the name-mandates passed down upon them in Wikipedia by non-natives from distant countries; e.g. the Skwxwu7mesh/Squamish matter and others. "Indigenous sensitivity" has been dismissed by some Wikipedians as COI, but that's hardly the way to encourage them to feel that they are welcome here, rather than pushed aside by "guidelines". Best to explain to Wfncommunications about COI procedures, i.e. "can someone please add this material to the article" requests on talkpages.Skookum1 (talk) 04:54, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
- In a similar vein, West Coast of Vancouver Island Aquatic Management Board, I think it is, which is a Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council official sub-body, added a lot you'll find in Category:Nuu-chah-nulth but I've never checked over their quite well-done content to see if it's COPYVIO or not; some may be, even all. It's not just FNs who do this, town councils and various tourism boards, and I know in one case a wine region, were doing this kind of thing.Skookum1 (talk) 04:59, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
- Pursuant to that, for a long time I've recommended an outreach be made t o native governments and orgs explaining Wikipedia procedures on this kind of thing....but wound up being attacked by certain parties for certain matters, as I know you're aware of, including one admin who I won't name who shit on me for being a white person presuming to speak for native peoples; didn't matter to him if I was on their side or not; not that he's done anything to improve the articles in question. I'm back for a while after quitting again, as I'd found the Idle No More article had been POV-vandalized again......while other editors are in the discussions pits arguing about things they don't know anything about, or castigating people who disagree with them or who call them on their s**t. That said, I haven't re-proposed the native-outreach again because I'm tired of having myself dumped on, or someone using WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS to dismiss any attempt to make Wikipedia's titles and content more native-friendly than they are. My native friends in Lillooet and Shalalth have thanked me for going to battle over Lillooet people->St'at'imc but they say they regard it all as white man's irrelevance anyway......so encouraging an alienated people by, um, alienating them further by telling them others will decide what's best for them is just "no on".Skookum1 (talk) 05:09, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

From Ayylmoagenius
In regard to your message left on my account, the only reason I posted a block message was because several of them had been posted on my account by this user
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kingme2babay
I removed them all but they insisted on continuing to put them there after I removed them. I believe it was because they created a page with false information that I kept fixing. Eventually they requested for the page to be deleted entirely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayylmoagenius (talk • contribs) 04:59, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Ayylmoagenius. I understand. Just to let you know, placing a block notice does not block a person. Only an administrator can issue an actual block, and nobody has been blocked. I will keep an eye on the contributions of Kingme2babay.
- If there is anything you ever need or have any questions, please ask. Thank you, and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:21, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hey, he's posting false producer credits on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bobby_Shmurda&action=history::
- Can you please prevent him from editing that page and remove "Phines West" from the credits for the single, "Bobby Bitch"? Thanks::
- Hi, Ayylmoagenius. Okay, I removed Phines West from the credits in the table at the Bobby Shmurda article. You may edit the article yourself if you wish. Do not be shy. Be bold. - Hi, Kingme2babay. I cannot get Twitter here in China, and I do not think it is a reliable source anyhow. Do you have a good media reference to support this fact? Without a good reference, that claim cannot remain in the article. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:56, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

- Hi, Kingme2babay. I do not know, but will look into it. For now, please let's leave that out of the article. Further discussion about this should take place at Talk:Bobby Shmurda#Phines West as Bobby Bitch producer. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:05, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

- I believe you, but proof is needed. Please do not be upset. Another editor has challenged this fact and I cannot find media references to say that Phines West is the producer. I have a dream...
Hi. Thank you for helping Wikipedia.
You deleted the tributory use of the Not Another Teen Movie image on the user page NotAnotherSockPuppet yet you left the image on the Not Another Teen Movie article page. I did not understand this. The image had been uploaded and shown on Wikipedia for a while. My understanding is that if the image may be used on the article page, it may also be used on the user page. Please correct me if I am wrong and let me know whether the license selectively allows the image to be used on some pages but not others. If anything, "fair use" in a derivative work is more protected.
You also (apparently) blocked the account NotAnotherSockPuppet from editing before a single edit was made to a single Wikipedia article -- or at least encouraged the next administrator to do so. This seems premature, at best. I have a dream that one day editors will be judged by the content of their edits and not preemptively blocked by an administrator just because they have a name that is different from the name of the administrator and the administrator's friends. NotAnotherTeenPuppet (talk) 16:46, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- NotAnotherTeenPuppet: You are referring to User:NotAnotherSockPuppet. Is this you? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:53, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- How quaint... you asked a question and then blocked my account so that I could not answer your question. :-(
- Your actions are premature, at best. Please consider halting such heavy-handed measures. I repeat: you are blocking the account (and IP) before even a single edit was made to a single article. After you blocked NotAnotherSockPuppet, I followed the instructions in the block message to open an account under a different name so I opened the account NotAnotherTeenPuppet. Then, after I followed the instructions, you blocked my account again because I followed the instructions. Please stop.
- Your interpretation of copyright law is not correct, IMHO. You seem to claim that the low-resolution picture uploaded by someone else that is used in the Not Another Teen Movie article page somehow cannot be used on a user page which likewise uses the image in the same way, to reference and provide commentary about the movie in a manner which is 'fair use' -- a protected use. Read the license for this image. It is equally 'fair use' on the user page as it is on the article page. You are incorrect that the license only allows the use of the image on the article page. The license contains no such allowance or restriction.
- I have a dream that one day administrators will only block editors based on the quality of their edits (or lack thereof) and not based upon the color of their skin or some other irrelevant criteria. Again, I haven't yet made a single edit to an article page since opening the account(s).
- Hello another teen pup. Here on Wikipedia, we only use the "fair use" justification for encyclopedia articles, not for user pages. Unfortunately, that's just how it is. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:58, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment, Demiurge1000 (talk).
- "[I]f an editor is actively working on an article in a user-space subpage, it would be unhelpful to delete the [non-free] images." Consequently, I suggest that it was improper for Anna Frodesiak (talk) to delete the image only minutes after I created my user page because Anna Frodesiak (talk) could not have known whether I intended to work on the article in my user-space subpage or simply view a static snapshot of an article about a favorite movie. I have decided that I would be honored to actively work on the article of one of my favorite movies in my user-space subpage and I intend to do so every day. Based on the official, written policy that it would be "unhelpful" to delete the image, I am kindly requesting that you (all) stop the "unhelpful" behavior in contravention to official, written Wikipedia policy. Deal? NotAnotherTeenPup (talk) 18:41, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- The page you link to isn't policy. Wikipedia's policy on how it uses fair use is located at WP:NFCCP, which reads:
- "Non-free content is allowed only in articles (not disambiguation pages), and only in article namespace, subject to exemptions."
- Using non-free images in the userspace isn't a common exception. I agree with Anna's deletion in that you don't need to display the image in your userspace, since it isn't actually an article yet. If and when the draft does become an article, then a fair use image could certainly be added. Until then, however, drafts aren't considered to be part of the encyclopedia proper and there is no need to display copyrighted images. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 18:48, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- The page you link to isn't policy. Wikipedia's policy on how it uses fair use is located at WP:NFCCP, which reads:
- Thank you for your comment, SuperHamster Talk Contribs. I believe you are incorrect and I believe that I have correctly cited Wikipedia policy. Here is why: you wrote that Wikipedia's policy is WP:NFCCP which you quoted as being "subject to exemptions." Clicking on the exemptions link brings you to "Those pages that are exempt are listed in Category:Wikipedia non-free content criteria exemptions" and clicking on the non-free content exemptions brings you to a list of exemptions including the page that I cited which specifically states that it is "unhelpful" to delete the image in my user-space subpage while I am working on the article. Technically, the exemption I cited is "incorporated by reference" as part of the official Wikipedia policy you cited. Not Another Teen Movie is one of my favorite movies. I will gladly work on the article in my user-space subpage and periodically upload changes to the article page. Will you (all) now please desist the "unhelpful" behavior of deleting the image link on my user-space subpage? Thanks. NotAnotherTeenPup (talk) 19:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- @NotAnotherTeenPup: (talk page stalker) You're a new user. I recommend you heed what more-experienced editors have told you and accept that you're wrong. Wikilawyering is not going to help you. Chris Troutman (talk) 19:42, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- First, please do not make ad hominem attacks. ("You're a new user... [therefore] you're wrong.") Second, I am not trying to be overly legalistic. You have this exactly backwards: it is not me who is being overly legalistic. I just want to have my tribute to a favorite movie and be allowed to use the account unmolested including the ability to work on an article about a favorite movie in my user-space subpage. I do not want to get entangled in these time-wasting discussions pointing out to the "more-experienced editors" that they are wrong. Unfortunately, I find my account(s) and IP blocked even when I explicitly followed the instruction to open another account using a different username. Methinks the administrators are going a bit overboard. Please note that I have not yet even made one edit to an article page. Sheeeeeesh! Personally, I think your account should be blocked because 'troutman' is a contraction for "your sister looks like a sheepdog" in Ulbarian (a common insult among northern-Ulbarians) and it is offensive to me. Please don't discriminate against me because I am Ulbarian. NotAnotherTeenPup (talk) 20:05, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

- After I deleted the first copy of the article at your first userpage, I explained with "...I've removed the article at your userpage. The image is non-free, and there was no attribution when pasting the text. Did you want it there for some reason? Now, about your username, are you a sock? If not, you ought to change your username, as it will likely be disruptive..." Had your name not been NotAnotherSockPuppet, I may have only removed the non-free image, but the whole article copy-paste and your username together prompted my actions.
- I did not block you. Someone else did, but I support the block.
- I explained at your second talk page with "...In answer to your question at my talk page, using your userpage to host a fake article is not permitted. It is also a copyright violation to paste the content there without attribution. Finally, the image is non-free, and is only allowed at the actual article...."
- Your username was NotAnotherSockPuppet, which is disruptive enough to be blockable
- Your username indicated to me that you were very possibly a sock or here to be disruptive.
- You posted that article at your talk as a tribute, and not to work on it. That is true, right? You posted the same article at the second account userpage with the edit summaries "my satirical tribute to Not Another Teen Movie" and "my tribute to Not Another Teen Movie" I do not think you ever pasted the article there to work on it.
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:39, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for the response. I really had not thought through all of the details of exactly how much editing of the Not Another Teen Movie article I planned to do but I did do some editing of it already when I pasted (and edited) the article text on my user page.
- More importantly, you could not have known what I planned to do because you blocked (or supported the block) of the account minutes -- an hour or two, tops -- after I created the page and there is no way for you to have known how much editing I planned to do. Therefore, your removal of the article and image was, at best, premature. According to Wikipedia policy, working on an article in one's user space is a permitted activity and Wikipedia's official written policy (incorporated by reference) is that it is "unhelpful" to delete the non-free image from a user page in this case. Please acknowledge.
- For the record, I plan to work on the article on my user page because it is one of my favorite movies. I would be happy to do so. Editing and tribute co-exist. They are not exclusive. Please acknowledge.
- Your block (or support of the block) based on the name before even a single edit was made is premature. It is a stretch of Wikipedia policy which states that blocking should not be used to punish people but to prevent disruptive behavior. There was no disruptive behavior. I did not disrupt anything. I did not even make a single edit! Please acknowledge.
- You have repeatedly referred to the user page text as a "fake" article. It is not fake. It is real. There was no fake information. Hosting wiki-markup from an article is permitted. I just don't see what the problem is here (this is not about the image). What's the problem?
- I think your distinction that "NotAnotherSockPuppet" is (speculatively -- no evidence) disruptive while "NotAnotherTeenPuppet" is okay is a little bit extreme and overly aggressive. I really think you (and other admins) should cool it a little bit, absent any actual disruption. "SockPuppet" is not a four-letter word. How about "ThisIsNotASockPuppet" or "SockPuppet Is Not A Four Letter Word" or "Sock Puppets Are Prohibited"? Are these names not allowed? I think this is a bit ridiculous. Again, I hadn't even made a single edit -- and still haven't on an article page.

- Ahem. Yunshui 雲水 07:34, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, Yunshui. I see at least 3 diffs from some of the socks, plus other evidence, that strongly suggests is the same person.
- Ahem. Yunshui 雲水 07:34, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- I do not want to respond to any of those items. And please don't tell me how "technically" you were allowed to this this and that. "Technically" pasting the article without attribution was a copyvio, a breach of Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
- Bottom line:
- You registered an account called "NotAnotherSockPuppet".
- At 04:41, 15 October 2014 you pasted an entire article to your userpage and left for an hour and 13 minutes.
- I deleted it and posted at you talk "...I've removed the article at your userpage. The image is non-free, and there was no attribution when pasting the text. Did you want it there for some reason? Now, about your username, are you a sock? If not, you ought to change your username, as it will likely be disruptive..."
- I posted, thoughfully, to give you an opportunity to respond with something like "Yes, I planed on working on it. I wish to restore it." and that would have been the end of it.
- I think the username and pasting the article were bait. This massive response makes me think that even more. I think you are trying to drag me into a long discussion. I stand by my action and reasoning. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:47, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- Trolls gonna troll... I actually found the SPI when I went to block their most recent account for obvious pointy behaviour, since the discussion above shows that they clearly aren't here to build the encyclopedia anyway. Best to ignore their childish tomfoolery and get on with other stuff. By the way Anna, while your extremely-nice-personness might have dragged this out a bit, I wanted to say thank you for the help you've been giving MirrorFreak/Amanda Smalls recently - that's the sort of nurturing, kindly attitude that I wish I had a bit more of. Curmudgeonly old grumps like me need the balance of caring, positive admins like you! Yunshui 雲水 08:04, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, my friend. :) And thank you for finding that SPI. I will certainly be happy to move on from this. I regret my carelessness in sockblocking when the template clearly said he was able to create a new account. I will learn, too, to be a bit wiser when it comes to those with such usernames. I am new to the concept of trolling. I guess I just do not understand why one would waste valuable life-hours on it. I imagine when they're 80, they will sit up in bed and regret the waste. As for you, you certainly do not seem curmudgeonly, old, or grumpy. I find you very nice! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:15, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

I think you are overreacting. I don't mean to make "technical" arguments... I just want to be left alone and I only make these arguments when you (or someone else) tries to claim an innocuous action is somehow so harmful that it merits a punitive or preventative administrative action. In reaction to your actions, I have looked up Wikipedia policy and discovered that (IMHO) the blocks and deletions are not warranted. Again, I had not yet made even one edit to any article page!
An hour and ten minutes... that's like a (long) telephone call or an impropmtu visit by a colleague or from the boss. It does not constitute abandonment of a page!
I admit that I am trying to discuss your behavior with you because I think you are a bit overly aggressive in response to ordinary and permitted actions by me. This does not have to be a long discussion from my perspective.
Before I answer your two questions, why does your answer depend on this? The questions should stand on their own substance. This is exactly my point. Instead of obsessing about whether I am black, or gay, or Elbonian, why not judge the value of what I've asked on its own merit? Why does the permissibility of having article text from Not Another Teen Movie on a user space subpage depend on who asks the question about whether it is permitted?
The primary (or proximate) reason I created the account was that I wanted to have a read-only account for use on public computers with the Preference for "justify paragraphs" on because I like to read justified text and, as you know, there is some security risk to using password-protected accounts on public computers. So, no, there is nothing devious going on here. While I think your questions about sock puppets are irrelevant, the answers are "I am a person not a sock" and "no, not to my knowledge."
I am not trying to be argumentative or waste your time (or mine). I am trying suggest that your administrative actions are, at best, shall we say "premature" and I sense Wikipedia administrative culture is a bit overly reactive. I hope my comments are civil. Your response is appreciated. Oh Sister Where Art Thou (talk) 08:17, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Anna- I was simply trying to replicate listings I'd seen for friends. Ex: Andrew K. Mahoney is what I based mine on. I'd welcome hearing your logic on how mine is different or not factual. Thanks for your interest. Bart 71.191.225.215 (talk) 11:21, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, User:71.191.225.215. Are you User:Barton C. James? If so, I am not sure what sort of page you want. Do you want an article about yourself? If so, please read WP:42, find plenty of references, and we can see if you would be a suitable subject. Are you just looking for a userpage with your bio? By the way, I cannot find any page on Andrew K. Mahoney. Do you have a link? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:28, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Alternate Account
Hey Anna, Before I do this, I wanted to hear what you have to say since you're an admin. I want to create an alternate account solely for the purpose of vandal fighting. What do you think?Amanda Smalls 15:40, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- But why? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:43, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
It seems to me to be more practical. I mean, It wouldToo true, there really is no reason why. Just because I saw that other users have them. You know what I mean?Amanda Smalls 15:46, 15 October 2014 (UTC)- I think it is less practical, complicates things, is unnecessary, and you should stick to one account. It makes sense. Keep all your edits under one roof, one account, one talk page. Now that you have one good account going, I strongly suggest not making another account. - Demiurge1000: I've thought of writing about the Hainan Independent Column, but I tend to stay out such things. Good topic, though. Maybe I will start it, actually. Trouble is, no Google translation, my Chinese is still too poor to read properly, no Google Books, and I'm frightened of getting a virus from .cn sources. - Hi, Tree hugger uuu. No worries. I probably could have given a gentler warning. I probably issued the one I did for several reasons: Because you just left it there, so I assumed it was intentional vandalism. I think I thought you were related to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/CaptainAmerica12/Archive. Plus, it was a picture of Kylie Monnoge added to the top of a rocket article, and was a copyright violation image that you uploaded.
- Oh, while you're here, I am curious about the filename. Why do some filenames have that characteristic format like XXXX_2014-07-23_09-09.jpg?

- No worries. It looks good now. Feel free to start more. (I will be gone most of the weekend.)
- You've mentioned being bored a few times. As you like biology, you may find spending time clicking on links in taxoboxes fun. Start at the top and see how species are organized.
- Also, if you like food, NorthAmerica does a lot of good work there with lists and articles. List of potato dishes could use a bit of filling out. (See below.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:18, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

- Okay. But, that is nearly 40 articles, and we only have one or two photos. Are you sure? We could pick another fish or marine lifeform. Squid? Sea louse? Coral? Gastropod? Bivalve? Jellyfish?
- As for rollback, do you really need it? I mean, how much vandalism do you handle? Have you read Wikipedia:Rollback? Also, you really only have 200 or so mainspace edits. More is probably best. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:46, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- When should I apply for rollback?Amanda Smalls 13:17, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- No offence, since you're an admin and all. but why did you block the Noodle guy? He only had 3 edits.Amanda Smalls 13:34, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- Did you see the edit summaries and edits? I give editors the benefit of the doubt whenever possible. The chance of that editor stopping and then becoming productive was near 0%. When I asked whether or not to block in a similar situation, a very wise admin mentor once said something like: "Do you think that person is here to build the encyclopedia?" The block was to protect the project. If he wants to edit constructively, he can appeal the block and we can hear what he has to say about what he's done.
- As for your rollback request, well, not now in my opinion. You can formally request it if you want. It requires that the editor be consistently responsible. Considering your practical joke joke, I am not convinced that you are. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:46, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, Okay. So do you want to work on a jellyfish article?Amanda Smalls 13:48, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- Yes! I love the jellies! I'm just off to bed, but consider shopping for some nice images. A way: Look for a genus article with an infobox with picture, and lots of redlinked species listed. Then, check the genus at commons to see what other images we have. Find an image at commons that is nice and with no article at Wikipedia, and you have a subject. Then check the WoRMS website to be sure it is "accepted", and there you go. An article ready to be born. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:52, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

(stalking) A former colleague of mine did all this. It depends on how old you are and which country you live in, but to cut a long story short the process takes about two years, during which time you are basically whatever gender you want to be. Some things switch over straight away, some (like car insurance, passport and other legal stuff) take a while. As Anna says, this is major life changing stuff, unlike WP there is no "revert" button so make absolutely sure you want to do it. FWIW you can still live as a "girl" without having the actual op, and most people ought to be none the wiser. Check out Sophie Wilson, who has made profound contributions to computer science and probably directly influenced what goes in your mobile phone. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 21:22, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not probably, but definitely. Modern phones that don't use some part of Sophie's instruction set, basically don't exist :) I had the privilege to work with Sophie on something a few years back, though I've only met her two or three times. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:25, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Ritchie333, thanks for telling us about Sophie. She is very courageous and inspiring. And Demiurge1000, you are getting more interesting by the minute. :) Amanda Smalls, definitely speak with several people who have had it done. The removal is what you are considering most, and that sounds like something you want, but it is what replaces it that you should find out about. I mean, forgive the expression, but they sort of scramble your junk, if you know what I mean. That must be full of questions marks. It might not be something you expect, or feel like it is you, or is something anyone would ever want to see or touch. You might end up stuck with something creepy, and you absolutely must ask others what they think of theirs. But anyhow, we really should close this thread. Personal question
Hi,
Please ignore my impertinence if you wish, but I am curious if you might be related to the Frodesiaks of the Passyunk Avenue area of Philly in the 50's or early 60's? They attended the same church as my Grandmother.

- :) Letting you know your pun was appreciated by this Rusnak. My grandmother, Anna, did have some friends named Hodiak. μηδείς (talk) 04:17, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Archiving discussions
Anna, if you remember about an year ago there was quite an extensive discussion on Jaipur Duronto Express. I needed help with 2 things. (1) Can you archive that discussion or tell me how do do so? (2) If one needs to undo multiple edits like on Haridwar Junction railway station, how do i go about it? Superfast1111 (talk) 17:03, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Superfast1111
- 1. There are only 13 posts with a total of 41,435 on that page. However, it was back in 2013, so I suppose archiving might be alright. Is there a reason you wish to archive that particular thread? Here is the code to paste under the project banners at the article talk page:
{{User:MiszaBot/config
|archiveheader = {{aan}}
|maxarchivesize = 100K
|counter = 1
|minthreadsleft = 2
|minthreadstoarchive = 1
|algo = old(90d)
|archive = Talk:Jaipur Duronto Express/Archive %(counter)d
}}
- If you still wish to archive, please post at the article talk first. It is important to make sure to establish consensus before setting up lowercase sigmabot III or ClueBot III on a talk page other than your user talk page.
- 2. As you do not have rollback, you can instead do this: Go to the history. Click on the version you want (the wide link with the time and date). Click edit. Enter an edit summary. Click save.
- Well, so far its just a hunch but i wanted to retain previous discussions for future use if needed. In any case, i thought since the discussion is long over archiving it makes sense. Superfast1111 (talk) 14:43, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Superfast1111, do not worry. Whether archived or not, the discussion will be retained. If you still think that it would be more convenient for others for it to be archived, you are welcome to post at that talk page suggesting archiving. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:56, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

- Superfast1111: I see you just opted for archiving the threads themselves with Template:Archive top without actually setting up MiszaBot. I have reverted. You cannot simply do that to a whole group of threads. It is for individual threads, and must not include the heading. It should also be done by uninvolved editors, although the threads have been idle a long time, so that probably doesn't matter. But, I am not sure why you wanted to do this in the first place. Could you please explain?
- If you really wish to archive with Miszabot, please post at that talk page, like I suggested above, asking if anyone has any objections to setting it up. Most likely, nobody will care. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:43, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- My apologies Anna. I had a hunch at the time (and i was right) that i will get into another prolonged discussion with Mr. Mishra and i did not want the previous discussion's getting mucked up. But that's ok. I am going in for dispute resolution as i think we have reverted each other enough times. Nevertheless, i'll see if he can be convinced. Internet "trolls"
We have a pretty good article on the subject at Troll (internet), although it could use some work. My first encounter with the phrase and the "type" was through the old Message boards (generally all political in nature). The specific issue with an actual "troll" is that they are only there to get people riled up and not for constructive input or contributions. I had a political troll follow me to one board I belonged to and used as their avatar an image of Hitler. The entire point is to create drama by providing almost nothing but issues to fight over and disrupt and derail real discussion.
The reason why this last user was thought to be a troll was simply because it appeared that a trail of "bread crumbs" were being left, either purposely or from a lack of ability that made people believe that they were not here to build an encyclopedia and were attempting to milk the community of our patience. The real reason I believe this person (at this point) to be a troll was there request of Eric Corbett to assist them. I can't help but feel they were baiting him. He handled it very well I thought, though don't actually think he realized himself that this was bait but you never know, Eric is pretty smart.--Mark Miller (talk) 05:44, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- He knew. When you've been the target that many times, you recognize the signs, plus "a man, duh"'s comments on JW's page and other stuff that didn't add up to a normal account. It is difficult as admin, to balance the desire to assume good faith yet detect subtle trolling that has a long term goal of doing damage. I certainly don't have it perfected, none of us do, but the collective opinion of all of us is pretty good at flushing them out. Dennis - 2¢ 18:51, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Mark Miller: Very interesting. And thank you for the link. I never thought of actually reading up on trolls.
- Hi, Dennis Brown: Thank you for your input. The a-man-duh thing never clicked. Funny, considering my username. Then again, Frodesiak is an old nickname based on my real last name. And yes, collective opinion sure does equal collective wisdom. :)
- I had received some information about his past from another editor via email, so I knew that he had an odd history earlier than Oct 14 (first contact). I just figured he was a confused, gay youth, who couldn't find a social life elsewhere. I believed the sex change story because, hey, it is the United States. I thought that if parents sign off, the government has to agree. So, I did what I thought was best: I pulled him away from the backpages and toward the mainspace, (like I've done with others).
- My approach for future cases: I will be somewhat less gentle. It is hard to prohibit one from weighing in on the backpages, but I can sure issue stern warnings about purely social posts. I can insist on a higher productivity ratio citing NOTHERE. I will continue to rely on the community's "hyperdeveloped olfactory talents", as Risker puts it, and will read the troll article 5 times to help develop my own.
- Thank you, Casliber et al. If you have guidance on how I could have handled this one better, please say.
- Finally, I will read up, but right now do not see why somebody would do this. This is a tiny bit of time wasted for us, a few articles came into existence as a result, and we move on. For trolls, it is a full-time job -- a full-time waste of life. They must not think much of themselves. This reminds me of an old saying: "If you lend somebody 20 dollars and never see them again, it was probably worth it." :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:47, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- There is nothing wrong with you. I was on the fence, some were screaming "sock", others were defending the person. None of us always gets it, but together, we do a pretty good job of ferreting out the bad players. What happened with you wasn't a failure, you just weren't the first to catch on. Maybe next time you will be the first, maybe not. Doesn't matter, as long as we do catch them as a community.

- Even though I'm the one that nominated you for admin, you often serve as a compass for me, as an example...for me to calm down and assume good faith and not be cynical. True story, I'm not saying it just to make you feel good, I'm very sincere. So don't be kicking yourself for a bit too much good faith. It is in short supply around here, and we are a stronger community if we have just a little too much instead of way too little. Dennis - 2¢ 23:38, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Assuming good faith like you did is always a good default position. As Dennis says, better to err on side of too much than too little. There is generally no rush to act on these things, though I think the current kerfuffle at arbcom could be flammable and was what the account was trying to ignite. When I can think of more to write I will do so - just a bit busy today and have a bit of a headcold. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 00:16, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- Agree with the above. Don't kick yourself about this thing. As Dennis suggested, and Mark seemed unsure of, it is probably only when you have been subjected to numerous incidents of trolling etc that the antennae start wobbling pretty quickly. Alas, those of us who are in that position - Eric, myself etc - will sometimes kick back out of sheer frustration. I'd much rather be you than me because it would make for an easier life here but, hey, we are all tuned differently and we're all subjected to different experiences. - Sitush (talk) 00:26, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Zen Garden Award for Infinite Patience | ||
Thank you for your patience and good faith in all this. I’m so glad that warm, amiable and kind-hearted people like you are admins, instead of jaded cynics like me. w.carter-Talk 09:56, 26 October 2014 (UTC) |
To Mark Miller, Dennis Brown, Casliber, Sitush, and W.carter:
Thank you all for your kind words, insight, and support. It means a lot to me. Do not worry. I will always be kind and helpful. Nothing has changed there. And I am only slightly embarrassed about being lead down the garden path. It happens. To me, it is not much different from when I communicate with any problematic editor who ends up blocked or leaves. I am a bit of a bean counter when it comes to Wikipedia, and want a good return for my efforts. I am more annoyed at investing over an hour and just getting back a few article starts from him. So, I must improve, and that will include fewer outgoing keystrokes, a better understanding of trolls, lower tolerance for persistently unacceptable behaviour, and insistence on greater productivity in the mainspace in return for my help. Big request
All right, per your work performing table conversion in list articles, ability to easily add images and since you told me you like repetitious tasks in the past, here's a big request. I'm looking to expand List of hot beverages by converting it to table format:
- With the following sortable table columns:
- Name
- Image
- Origin
- Description
- With added images when applicable, per your unique and time-saving drag and drop technique you informed me about.
I could do all this, but per the techniques you utilize, you can perform it much faster. So, please consider this request, and there's no rush or anything. NorthAmerica1000 07:49, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, NorthAmerica. I'm happy to do it. I will wait till Monday, if that is okay. How do you want me to handle items with sub-items, like Malted milk, and its Milo, Horlicks, and Ovaltine? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anna: I've been working on figuring out a way to indent entries within tables, which would be optimal in terms of organization of subtopics. In this manner, the primary topic would have no indent, and subtopics would be listed below and indented in the tables. Thus far, though, after trying out various methods, it only works by breaking the table, using <blockquote> (see below).
Title | Image | Origin | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Alphabet soup | United States | Prepared using alphabet pasta. In the U.S., it is commercially produced in a can of condensed broth. |
Title Image Origin Description Alphabet soup United States Prepared using alphabet pasta. In the U.S., it is commercially produced in a can of condensed broth.
Unfortunately, it breaks the table, so it doesn't really work out. Another idea is to consolidate the subtopics in the same column cell as the main topic, and use a gallery within the description cell (see below).
Title | Image | Origin | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Coffee | There are several accounts of the historical origin of coffee. Additionally, coffee is...(etc.)
|
I think option 2 above with subtopics in a bulleted list within the entry may work out nicely. I patiently, yet eagerly await your response! NorthAmerica1000 18:23, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, NorthAmerica. I am not sure what the blockquotes is supposed to do. When you say "break", do you mean break the sortability? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:38, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- The blockquote html indents the table, but won't work without having to use a separate table (hence "breaking" the table). This is illustrated in the first example above for Alphabet soup. I feel that one solid (unbroken) table would look best, and having subtopics in the same cell (as per the second example above) solves the matter of keeping the subtopics in the same
columncell. NorthAmerica1000 20:46, 26 October 2014 (UTC) - If you're into it, just performing the table conversion sorted alphabetically and adding images would be fine. I can fine-tune the article afterward, consolidating subtopics as per the second table example above. NorthAmerica1000 21:09, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, and will do. Some of the articles I have in mind are longer, so I'll perhaps present them slowly so as not to overwhelm. Here's one:
- List of fermented foods – an article I created in May 2013 that would look great with tables and more images in the tables.
It receives a fair amount of page views (11,496 so far in October 2014), so your efforts would be worthwhile. NorthAmerica1000 04:35, 27 October 2014 (UTC) Done :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:55, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

- Hi, Theroadislong. Thank you for the strawberries! :) I was delighted to see that you had started it. I came along and improved it. Of course, that is just how things are supposed to work. :) Actually, when I posted that entry at the articles needing images page, I did check for duplicates, but did not see that it was the only species in the genus. Had I known that, I would have posted it as a genus with an explanation. But, starting it as a species and them moving it was not difficult, so all's well that ends well. :) And you did well. :) I encourage you to start more of them. New articles
Sorry to mess up your clean newly archived talk page...I took your advice and created some more articles from your list of lovely photos without articles Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images I created Indognorimus costipennis, Macromia illinoiensis,Cordulegaster maculata, Cetonia carthami and Somatochlora flavomaculata if you get a spare moment could you check them over for me cheers.Theroadislong (talk) 20:21, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Theroadislong. They look great! A few notes:
- Expand them if you can.
- Commons category should be on the left if it is the only external links entry. Use {{Commons category|position=left|EXAMPLE}} or * {{Commons category-inline|EXAMPLE}}.
- Wait for a response here, unless you can find it in the guidelines (I do not see it at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (fauna).), and then make redirects to the species article. Use #REDIRECT [[EXAMPLE]] {{R to scientific name}}. This prevents others from accidentally making a duplicate article. If there are synonyms, you can do the same, but use #REDIRECT [[EXAMPLE]] {{R from alternative scientific name}}.
- Remove double line spaces between sections.
- Some editors move the stubtag down half a dozen line spaces or so.
- If there is only one species, move it to the genus and write about the species. (Gnorimella is an example.) Such articles require bolding of the genus as well as the species in the taxobox. If it is a family article with one genus and one species, then the family is bolded too.
- Genera get italics, but not the family.

Woodswallow is one whose species have images (most I suspect), which would benefit being converted to a table....I'll try and find a stubby genus list that'd make a good DYK...ninox? Neophema is another...Polytelis is another.. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 09:01, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I never thought of doing genus article tables. Nice idea. So, do you mean convert the Species of Artamus section to a table? No standalone "List of Artamus species" needed, right? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:06, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Cas Liber. Woodswallow is done. If you do not like it, or wish it to be presented another way, just say. I can undo it or modify it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:17, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Shrikethrush would be a surefire DYK. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 09:24, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- Some of the others you list above have only a couple of birds. Are you sure a table is needed for those? Also, maybe those at the bird wikiproject might find this table thing rather unconventional. Plus, the main reason for tables is sortability, and one could say that a list of a few parrots would be better without a table. Should I we post there to see if they like the idea before I do more? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:27, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- sea eagle is another - umm, we've done it on quite a few articles (including FAs - see pelican), and a few bird editors like them (e.g. see Eos (genus) and how it developed). I think they look great and I think the feeling about them has been pretty positive (i.e. bird editors have been happy to embellish/add etc.). Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:11, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- ok, there we go, am expanding for DYK.....Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 07:52, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- That's great. It gives me plenty to work on. I may be out of town for the next few days and on a lousy computer, so I am not sure about my adding the table in time for the DYK, but I will try. It is only a few items, after all.
- I notice you made the first letter of the items lower case, like with grey shrikethrush. But, per MOS:BULLETLIST, they should be sentence case. May this doesn't apply to birds, though. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:35, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Casliber. Please see User:Anna Frodesiak/Yellow sandbox for Neophema. You can place it as you wish.
I do not know how to handle Ninox with the subspecies. Please advise and I will do that too. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:30, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
Consider really nailing down the format conventions so that all are the same. Small things, like:
- a <br /> after common name to force a new line for the binomial name in the Common and binomial names column
- a comma after the common name and before the binomial
- brackets or not surrounding binomials
- authority
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:36, 1 November 2014 (UTC) A to force
- All sounds good - I am a bit of a slob so folks who are focussed on formatting are good for me to have around....I see what you say re first word upper case and sounds good to me....cheers, Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 03:43, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Cas Liber. Okay, so the upper case thing is sorted. Now, about the details. Might I suggest:
- the olive heading at the top titled Species of Genus always present
- table always able to find its own width, which is good for short article so that it can fit to the left of the taxobox
- brackets surrounding binomials with a <br /> to force them under the common name
- no authority
- Columns:
- Common and binomial names
- Image
- Description
- Range (or "Range and status" where needed)
- Sound okay? Any other conventions, please say. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:10, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yep, sounds fine. cheers, Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 09:20, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Casliber. Again, I do not know how to lists like Ninox with subspecies. Those are really like taxonomy lists, and the convention with other animals is not to use tables. Should I skip those? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:17, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, just skip the subspecies I reckon. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 22:25, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

- Thanks very much. The article is really taking shape now, and is much more standardized. I think the names are fine as-is for now, this being English Wikipedia and per the number of English-speaking readers and editors on the site. Also, when I added images, using the English names made it easier finding images on Commons. NorthAmerica1000 23:58, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Please see this. I think you're familiar with the premise and some of the actors in this serial melodrama now playing on enwiki. I've seen some of your very wise but effective interventions/opinions work wonders in the past and I'm requesting you warn this user to drop the stick and back away from the wp:deadhorse.~Technophant (talk) 14:37, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

- Hi Anna Frodesiak just to let you know that, at least from my perspective, this is a relatively highly involved situation. To even get a reasonable understanding of content may take a some reading of content on both of our talk pages. I'm sure you have your own methods but one option would be to search on the opposite person's name on each page. Thanks. - So as not to tread on any toes I should also mention that I've also pinged PBS the uninvolved admin for ISIL re: the current issue. I am sure that neither of us have any objection to either of your involvements. Gregkaye ✍♪ 15:27, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- Gregkaye, I have an objection to you asking the wp:otherparent instead of complying with my simple yet reasonable request to revert your comment before there's any intervening edits. If it comes to ANI this may boomerang back on you.~Technophant (talk) 15:35, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- Technophant As I have previously asked. "Can you specify what action and on what grounds?" Also you said: "Please don't do that again." and I asked: "Re: "that" can you be more specific?" I am trying to understand. Gregkaye ✍♪ 15:49, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- Re: wp:otherparent. We have previously had dealings with PBS and at this point you have come a different, I presume, admin, Anna Frodesiak. I was not familiar with the rule mentioned but my interpretation would be of my turning to the original parent. I am happy for either admin to be involved. However I think it fair that the admin with responsibility for the topic area should have the option of being involved or of making contribution. Gregkaye ✍♪ 15:56, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

- Too many cooks spoil the broth. There are plenty of others, including admins, who are watching this and have done all the background reading (and there seems to be plenty of that). It is best that they handle this. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:19, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- Anna Frodesiak I respect that and just write by way of update and to ask what I hope is a simple question. - Will reply at your talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:37, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Anna, that's a nice article. However, bearing in mind that you have added this articles to no less than four different fisheries templates, don't you think that additionally adding the article as a "See also" to no less than fifty separate articles, each of which already bears at least one of the aforementioned templates, is a bit of overkill? This article is now, by a massive margin, the most visible and heavily promoted article in all of fisheries. --Epipelagic (talk) 07:16, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Epipelagic! I hit it pretty hard, didn't I? Sorry about that. I think I added the see alsos first, but it is all a blur to me now. I sort of meant it as advertising rather than promotion. :) I figured that lots of editors would see it and help to shape it or something, and eventually move the see alsos to {{main}}s etc. I was hoping that if it got removed from the see also section, it would remain in the navbox or vice versa. Did I go overboard? Should I remove them? Could I wait a week? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:27, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I think you went a bit overboard, though I'm not going to fuss further. You might consider the relationship of the article to, the now rather dated World fish production. Do you think these two articles could be merged somehow? Your article gives a snapshot in time, but having, for example, graphs that give a historical perspective could make for a more rounded article. I find these sort of articles become annoying because they keep going out of date! --Epipelagic (talk) 07:36, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry about the overboardedness. I will check back and see how many of those links remain after a while and then remove what shouldn't be there.
- Yes, a merger sounds sensible, except for the overall size, which may be an issue considering all the mobile devices out there. Thoughts on that?
- I saw World fish production, but was bothered by the grouping of fish and the lack of individual images.
- I too am bothered by articles that go out of date. I've made a few in the past, like List of detention centers and List of Casinos in Canada. This one, however, I will try to update with new figures each year. I can do it semi-automatically, so it won't take long. Maybe I can even add a new year column instead of replacing the old. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:48, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Epipelagic, do you have any suggestions for the title? "List of harvested aquatic animals by weight" sounds like it is referring to the weight of each animal, like Blue Whale would be number 1. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:22, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Would "by mass" be any better?
- Any article with so many pictures of fishies is clearly very important. Incidentally, while reading articles linked from it, I found Antarctic krill#Life cycle definitely needs some attention. "They can appear in enormous numbers counting 2 per litre in 60 m (200 ft) water depth" is presumably the result of vandalism, but I'm not sure what the correct figure should be (presumably not 2 million per litre)? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 11:00, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Demiurge1000. Mass! Yes. I suggested that here. Maybe User:Northamerica1000 can comment.
- I can't find good sources about the krill at that depth.
- As for a merger, no, I now think that all the pics do make it a good standalone. Thank you! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:27, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sure, but there still remains the issue that List of harvested aquatic animals by weight and World fish production are essentially the same article, just coming from different perspectives. A few points:
- Apart from the lead graphs, World fish production is a messy and out of date article. I wrote most of it back in 2008 when I was starting out on Wikipedia. I know you don't like the summary categories, but they are the categories the FAO use themselves.
- World fish production mainly confines itself to the capture of wild fish. It would be better balanced if it included parallel information on aquaculture harvesting.
- The term "harvest" principally conjures up agriculture harvesting, harvests from farming rather than the capture of wild animals by hunting. In a parallel way, I think it is appropriate to refer to aquaculture harvesting, harvests from fish farming rather than the capture of wild fish by fishing. For this reason, might it be better to call your article List of aquatic animal production by weight?
- It might be better to rename World fish production as World fisheries production. There is a convention that the term "fisheries" includes all aquatic animals (and even aquatic plants) that are commercially captured or harvested.
- Going one step further, you could call your article World fisheries production for 2012.
- Alternatively, the articles could be called Global production of aquatic organisms and Global production of aquatic organisms in 2012.
- As far as your list goes, might it not be better to have two columns for the production: one for the capture of wild fish and the other for aquaculture. Some species would have entries in both columns.
- What about an additional column categorising the species into groups?
- I see you have linked the binomial names and not the common names. Usually the FAO do the reverse, a practice followed globally by fisheries.
- A new set of FAO utilities FAOSTAT has just come out. This makes easy to extract and analyse data from the up to date version of the full FAO database. It is an endless source of information. Regards. --Epipelagic (talk) 20:33, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

- The table looked great - as far as some acknowledgement - I am all for more inclusive, looser criteria for acknowledging all who help articles at DYK, GAN and FAC - all this encourages collaborative editing...which is what this place is all about. Together we made it look better - 'nuff said ;) Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 06:03, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

BJD Article
I am one of THE US experts. I did word it all to promote myself initially but only because as usual the article promotes everyone but the American artists in this. Why is that? I'm happy to answer questions if you want to edit it your way - but with the whole truth and the real picture. I actually do this. I am the Comic-con panel artist expert. I am an award winning American BJD artist very successful for 4 years. I don't need to promote myself. I just can not stand when an article claims to know everything and actually leaves out the US contingent. Why is that happening here?
Most of the article was a blatant ad for non US BJD companies and artists. Edit all that before you decide to exclude an American artist/manufacturer who knows more about the actual process than you could dream having read, researched or learned otherwise because I DO this. I am a US citizen and there are others. Why are we always so blatantly ignored in these articles?
- Hi, Bo Bergemann. You are a wealth of information and Wikipedia needs you. Start a thread at Talk:Ball-jointed doll to discuss what you want to change about the article.
- But, you cannot just keep adding promotional content to that article. Please, help improve the article without adding your website or anything about your own business.
I did go add to your thread in the forum as you asked. But this article has blatantly violated pillar number two since publication and it should be blocked not me for speaking up about it now. It completely ignores the US, French, Russian and Australian artists and companies that are clear notable leaders in this industry now. Why? I know why. The book it relies so heavily on and the forum behind that has been prejudiced against US companies forever. But they are not posing as an encyclopedia with a green pillar #2 - non-biased ideal. Wikipedia is so it never should have published the parts of this article which so blatantly include only Asian companies and artists in the first place without more research. Go to one BJD convention here in the US and you will see us represented from the US, France, Russia and Australia to name a few. Several from the US. We are a vibrant crowd and yet totally ignored in this Wikipedia article. That is what's wrong with the article.
- Good job. Let's see what others say at the article talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:57, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Editor whose draft you rejected
[8] - did you notice this is a 6th grader? He gives his name on his userpage. Dougweller (talk) 16:28, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think Anna is recruiting 6th graders as editors, so her talk page is far from the ideal place to enquire. (Though actually, thank you as it provides an opportunity to give a link there to some advice aimed at that age group.) The preferred route if there are privacy versus age concerns, is via email to WP:RFO. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 19:47, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Anna Frodesiak. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Should I request for adminship
Hello,I am a wikipedia editor. Can you please tell me that should i request foe adminship,if not are there any criterion like amount of bytes edited, etc.Your effort will be appreciated.Themessengerofknowledge (talk) 13:10, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Themessengerofknowledge. It is best for you to have at least a few years and a few thousand mainspace edits before you try. You should check your posts for spelling mistakes, and of course, place your posts at the bottom of talk pages. You should always use spaces around punctuation:
- Instead of this:
- I like bunnies(rabbits). They are not only cute, but friendly too.
- Try this:
- I like bunnies (rabbits). They are not only cute, but friendly too.
- Instead of this:
- Also, you should read the following:
- Best wishes. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:26, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'll agree with everything Anna said above, although the minimum of "a few years" can be given a bit of leeway in some cases. If you've demonstrated strong editing habits and an overall suitability for adminship, you could conceivably pass within a year of active editing. It's not as common as it used to be, but it's certainly possible. Kurtis (talk) 12:50, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
Your welcome template
I do like your Welcome template, I think it ought to be moved into template space and advertised in Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome templates. I have used {{welcome2}} for years, and I think it is time for a change to a more visual form, yours if the first I have seen that fits the bill. -- PBS (talk) 14:19, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

- Hi, PBS. Hmmmm, it gets substituted, so newcomers never see the actual template name, right? And, it would be nice to see it alpha-sort near the top of the category, so how about {{Welcomorama}}, {{Welcomeveryone}}, {{Welcome Annastyle}}, {{Welcome and stay}}, {{Welcome on in}}, {{Welcome with spinning icon}}, {{Welcome and INSERT CATCHY WORD(S) HERE}}. Sorry, I'm half asleep, so not being very creative at the moment. Feel free to go with something not so odd. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:35, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Hairaaz band
Dear Anna There was an article on hairaaz band. Why did u delete it. Hairaaz is a registered fuison band it performs live. Soon They are releasing their debut album. Please restore the page Thanks Regards Atinder sidhu
- Hi Atinder sidhu! Anna is not here right now, but maybe WP:NMUSIC would help? Soon after Hairaaz release their second album on a recognised significant label then Wikipedia might need an article on them. You could start collecting independent reliable sources about them though, to be ready! --Demiurge1000 (talk) 18:36, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, User:Hairaaz. I Bing.com searched it (Google is unavailable here) and found nothing. I deleted it per User:Sam Sailor's speedy deletion tag WP:A7 and WP:G11. The G7 part meaning promotion. You added your phone numbers (digits changed to 0 by me) so people could contact you to book your band: "Contact:+00000000000(Ginni),+000000000000(Sunny)" and then redirect the article to www.facebook.com/Hairaaz which mystified me. Are you at all interested in helping build the encyclopedia without adding content related to you band? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:34, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

You could have blocked Armaan.haider from editing; however, you went out of your way to give them a second chance and judging from what I see here it's been a success thus far. Should you need assistance, the offer is always there. Thank you, —MelbourneStar☆talk 06:58, 23 November 2014 (UTC) |
- Thank you kindly! :) Let's hope all goes well. I could use another pair of eyes on the contribs and frequented articles, though. And if you are actually a spider in real life (which would explain why you spend so much time on the web), then two pairs of eyes would be great. Keep the other pair for foolish but delicious flies and girl spiders who may try to eat at the end of your first date. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:07, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Haha very good analogy you've spun there!
- Also, just an idea – WP:ADOPT may be a positive avenue for the user down the track. A few years ago, Worm adopted me and I found the adoption course really useful. Taught me all I know now, and then some. This lists those actively adopting.
- ^Just a thought. Otherwise, I've watchlisted all the articles frequented by Armaan, and I shall keep a look out. Regards, —MelbourneStar☆talk 07:24, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- And a nice pun you spun!
- WP:ADOPT, eh? Hmmmmm, I know little about that. You could adopt him?
- Thanks for keeping a look out. We'll see how it turns out. I'm never too hopeful with individual accounts. A small percentage pay dividends, but those do, give back many, many hours. The strategy as a whole is easily a net plus. Kindness pays. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:03, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks
Anna, thanks for sticking up for at ANI. It was indeed a comedy of errors. The IP had originally reverted me here, restoring Sgt Stone Cold's vandalism, so I had assumed theb IP was SSC. Then when I checked his contributions and saw that he had edited the Osama page, I assumed it was SSC again, and misread the diff, twice. By the time I realized my mistake, the IP had already reverted again. Then Seahorse left a rather demanding note on my page, so I chose to ignore it and go to bed. Thanks again for defending me. - BilCat (talk) 12:17, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, BilCat. No thanks needed. Yes, that was a strange one. And the last joke in this comedy of errors is on us. It seems that the IP is Sargeant Stone Cold who is also JakeTheDinorsour. Ha ha ha ha. Dear, oh dear. :) User:Seahorseruler and User:Philg88 may find this funny.

Small question
Hi Anna Frodesiak,
Korean Wikipedia has been suffering from LTA named Unypoly (with +200 socks). While investigating Unypoly's socks crosswiki activity, I found a SPI about his sock (all blocked here, see archive), and I recently found Unypoly's sock creating an article here. Is it eligible for CSD G5? Thanks, — Revi 13:16, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Meh, they're not blocked, just locked. — Revi 13:19, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, -revi. Locked? I'm not sure what that means. If you give me a link to the article or a noping to the editor, I can check it out. I see at the SPI here at English Wikipedia, that the last activity was 2013. If we're not sure it's the same person, but the Modus operandi is the same, we can still block per WP:EVASION. I say that because the SPI shows grouping, suggesting meatpuppetry. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:22, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, (Apparently Ping to User talk didn't work)
- User in question is "놋쇠리아", and Locked means "User CANNOT LOGIN on ANY wikimedia sites", see m:Global lock. Also, accounts' activity on kowiki and meta SRCU evidence also support that user behind these accounts are one man - unypoly. — Revi 11:28, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, -revi. Sorry about the talk ping. Bad copy paste.
- Locked = cannot login anywhere. Understood. The "just" locked threw me. :)
- Yes, if we are sure it is him, we can delete per G5. You say it is him, but why is he's not listed at the SPI here at English Wikipedia, nor blocked at kowiki? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:50, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- I already blocked him on kowiki (CA), but we don't put templates on talkpages, rather put templates on userpage. I am not sure whether I should file a SPI on main account or already existing sock. :P — Revi 22:46, 25 November 2014 (UTC) (amend — Revi 04:47, 26 November 2014 (UTC))

- Hi, -revi. Sorry to take 3 days considering what to do here. I am always cautious about deleting viable articles. I did just delete it. His socks at the SPI show the same subject, so G5 is the appropriate criterion. I blocked him and will file the case at the SPI for the record. It has been quiet (as far as we know) since 2013, so WP:DENY was a consideration. Again, sorry to take so long. He only made that one article and no other edits, so I didn't hurry. And it was my mistake for not checking his kowiki userpage. Templates for confirmed socks are placed at userpages here too (and suspected sock templates often at talk when suspected). I get a strikethrough-italics display here at enwp for blocked users. His username at kowiki had none when I went to his talk page (where I saw no template), so I figured he was not blocked. Thanks for your patience. If you see other cases here at enwp, please tell me and I will act very quickly next time. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:31, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

- Dear Mavis He Chang,
- If it was first at a website that has a Creative Commons license at the bottom, then yes. If it is not at a website, but the text is almost the same as at http://www.bjbiennale.com.cn/en/team.aspx, then no, because that would violate WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASING, which is a form of copyright violation. Copyright
I'm a personal friend of the author and am doing this as a favor, although it's turning out to be unnecessarily complicated. I find it odd that a picture of him from his personal website won't be approved when corrections to information will be accepted by anyone without proper verification, regardless of how erroneous. For instance, your website had his birthday incorrectly listed as December 12th, when it's actually November 12th. I'm just trying to tie up some loose ends, and your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

- The site does not name the photographers, so that would be hard to determine without contacting the Last Post Fund and asking. Re Canada PD-50, the photographer would have had to die by 1964; it's quite probable most of those photographers did by then, but it's also possible some were still alive. The Last Post Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion may hold the copyright on some and that should be asked; they may have already released them into the public domain, as is the case with the holdings of the National Archives and various archives such as that of the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Public Library and others. The further wiki-reality is that there have been some disputes about the Canadian copyright-expiry limit vs the US 100-years-since-the-death-of-the-photographer which prevails in Wikipedia because of its servers being in the United States. If these were never published in the US, I think that may be the exception "rule" for PD 50, I'm not sure.Skookum1 (talk) 03:00, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- There are editors on WP:CANTALK who are more familiar with this matter and may be able to advise.Skookum1 (talk) 03:01, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Skookum1, point 6 says where the creator is unknown, the work was published before 1964 or (if not published) created before 1939. The ones I would want to use are the 1910 photos, as they have more historical significance (not that the others don't but the 1910 ones are of the inaugural ceremony). I will post it on CANTALK however--kelapstick(bainuu) 12:12, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, Skookum1. I'll leave this to you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:04, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Grey Nuns Motherhouse, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Neoclassical. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

All species of Skua have images...so this'd make a good listbox. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 11:10, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

- Hi, Cas Liber. All done at User:Anna Frodesiak/Violet sandbox. Falkland skua is duplicated because of the redirects. I'll let you handle that as you see fit. Feel free to give me more. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:11, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- Maybe also pictures of the Sea Skua missile, which was very useful in liberating the Falkland Islands mentioned? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 01:02, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi AnnaF: It's been a while, and hope you've been doing well. I am requesting utilization of your skills to add images to the List of Chinese dishes article in the tables, per your efficient drag and drop method. If you have the time, an image section just to the right of the "English" column in the tables (with images added) would really enhance the article a great deal. Let me know when you get a chance, and thanks for your consideration! NorthAmerica1000 01:28, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- Sure! I'll do it right now. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:29, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- Done. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:54, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- WOW, thanks. The turnover rate in which you performed the work is phenomenal. Outstanding, and look how much informative the article is now! Thanks very much. NorthAmerica1000 01:57, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

- Easy peasy. Just a draggin' and a droppin'. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:03, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
A new article I created today. I added additional soups that were not in Category:Chinese soups (and also added them to the category upon finding them). Perhaps you may be knowledgeable about any additional Chinese soups not on the list? Cheers, NorthAmerica1000 04:33, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- Very nice! I don't know much about soup. Hainan people don't do soup. Lots of hotpot here, but no soup. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:37, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
