Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I want to add a little information inside the template since houthi is already added on the Belligerents side i think we should add the casualties of the yemani also in the template same as egyptians or syrians especially those who died as resulted from isreali airstrike and according to those articles 20 July 2024 Israeli attack on Yemen and 29 September 2024 Israeli attacks on Yemen, the yemani casualties are 20 killed, and +147 injured 70.26.36.11 (talk) 03:48, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

In the second paragraph it states that "The desire to prevent the collapse of the Palestinians and to avoid more refugees were some of the reasons for the entry of the Arab League into the country, which began the 1948 Arab–Israeli War." It is absurd to characterize the invasion by the Arab league into Israel, which triggered the War of Independence as an "entry". The words "entry of" should be changed to "invasion by" which is supported by the source text and just about every other paper on the Israeli War of Independance. Autopatrolled

GnocchiFan has made 5,000+ edits this year alone including seven Good Articles. They make extensive use of WMF Library to improve sourcing and prose. I believe they are both an excellent editor and also communicator, evident at sensitive article topics at 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Gender and sexual minorities in the Ottoman Empire. In short, let's reduce NPP backlog by giving them auto-patrolled status. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:11, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Also worth mentioning GnocchiFan created 84 non redirect articles. One article was deleted Sophie Ottaway 8-months ago. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:25, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

@TParis: I was just taking a look at this when you accepted the request, but I have my concerns here. The single source tags on Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak and Elizabeth Neesom are valid, and Elisabeth Nilsson (lawyer) doesn't demonstrate the subject's notability very well. They have some very good-looking articles, but I feel that the basis of quality for their creations needs to be a bit higher before they're ready for the autopatrolled flag. Courtesy ping for GnocchiFan; I hope this feedback is useful for your writing in the future. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 19:36, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
I agree – those are valid concerns. I've removed the flag. Schwede66 20:20, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
  • (eyeroll) Guess we just revert other admins actions without discussing it first, now.--v/r - TP 20:29, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
I don't really hold the same reservations that you do. There is a systematic bias against covering women in history and it's even greater outside of western media. There has been an effort to increase coverage of women and I feel these two articles are geared towards that goal. It's easy to write an internet article about a living person that recently does a thing and get it published. It only costs bits and bytes. But sources existing in the early 20th century or earlier, about women, when publishing was costlier rings stronger with regards to GNG than a single article on the internet. Overall, I'm confident this user will create encyclopedic content without significant errors. None of us are error free.--v/r - TP 20:27, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Meets the minimum criteria, and a random sampling of their creations doesn't raise any red flags. My only concern is their liberal use of quotations in reception sections, but I don't consider it an overly serious issue for this permission as the copyright reports come away otherwise clean; I've also started a discussion on their talk page about it. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 18:54, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

Dear Wikipedia Admins, I am requesting the Autopatrolled right to further support my contributions to Wikipedia. While I may not have thousands of edits or article creations, my work is rooted in careful research and learning from experienced editors. My focus is on Iranian early modern, modern, and contemporary art and culture, especially highlighting the stories of Iranian women often overlooked in history. I ensure all my edits are supported by reliable, academic sources, and I have a track record of accurate contributions with very few reverts. I believe that having the Autopatrolled right would allow me to continue enhancing the articles related to Iran and Iranian art and culture. Thank you for your consideration. Warm regards, Hounaam (talk) 22:53, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

I am requesting the Autopatrolled right, like any other editor, to help reduce the NPP work load. I have worked at AFC/NPP/AFD, and I've created good articles that would pass a deletion discussion if nominated. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 11:47, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

They have created 60 Japanese-related articles, the majority of which are BLPs. None of them have been deleted, and no major issues were found upon my quick checks. Thank you. GrabUp - Talk 16:40, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

Page mover

I often move poorly-titled pages to more appropriate titles, usually to make them more WP:CONCISE, specific, neutral, or to correct spelling and transliterations. I also revert undiscussed moves in line with WP:RMUM. I would greatly appreciate having the ability to manage this myself. Skitash (talk) 21:43, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done. You've only performed a total of 30 page moves and have 0 edits to WP:RMTR. I don't see a need for the perm at this point, nor do I see enough experience with page moves yet. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:17, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

I'd like to get this right to delete unnecessary redirects (i.e. move pages over existing single revision redirects regardless of target). Additionally, I would also like to try to harmonize some pages of Spanish municipalities with the name of the country and the province (when necessary) instead of other subnational units (such as comarca). Moreover if a double denomination exists in some cases, I shall use the slash with spaces in between to enhance visual effect of different linguistic nomenclatures. However if an English form is more relevant I shall use it instead of double and local denominations. Other than that I could help elsewhere to move pages if necessary. Thank you, Nuvolet (talk)

Pending changes reviewer

Hello hello, I have been a Wikipedian for well over 4 months now, and I feel that I have learned a great many things about the site in terms of editing, content, policies, and conduct that I could have never imagined beforehand. If given this right, I humbly commit to using it to the utmost competent and fair / legitimate nature that I possibly can. Thank you Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:52, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done: user blocked. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 03:18, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

I have been contributing to pages for three years now, with prior experience in patrolling edit filter log. I would like to get reviewer rights so I can contribute to Wikipedia in more ways than I am able to, presently, and help with the backlog. Since my last request in July, I've been making a track record of communicating collegially with other editors, in my talk page and elsewhere. I hope you'll consider me. I've been doing RC Patrolling (as a part of Anti-Vandalism) on Wikipedia for a while now, and I think that having the Pending Changes reviewer permission could be a good idea - there have been numerous instances involving a pending changes edit that I look at while looking through Special:RecentChanges that i wanted to accept/deny/etc, and i feel that this permission would be beneficial for my efficeincy. DM5Pedia 04:34, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I believe that I'd be a good Pending Changes Reviewer, as I have a good amount of time on my hands, and can do monotonous tasks, like denying obvious vandalism, and the like. I meet, what I believe are all the requirements for this right, and humbly ask to receive this privilege. Thanks in advance! Legendbird (talk) 09:06, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights: I am an Wikipedian for more than three years and part of various wikiprojects I need permission to expand my works on Wikipedia and also to observe Wikipedia articles. Cactinites (talk) 15:28, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I've been using Wikipedia on-and-off since 2020, but I'm starting to become more active. I'd like to become a pending change reviewer, as I've often wanted to help out but have struggled finding where I can actually contribute, and I think this is a good place to contribute. Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights: I have been a wikipedia editor for some time now and love to revert vandalism and unconstructive edits to prevent the spread of problems on wikipedia. I currently am a Recent Changes patrol and love my job! I have successfully achieved 1000 total edits (or ~ 325 mainspace edits) on the english wikipedia. I can't wait to be a pending changes reviewer, as it will allow me to stop the spread of vandalism even farther! Thanks, Cooldudeseven7 (Cheers! Let's Discuss over a cup of tea!) Hello! I am a Wikipedian with a heavy focus on anti-vandalism work and would like this permission to be able to further contribute to the field. I have read the basic content policies, WP:BLP, WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, WP:V, and WP:NOT. Also, I have contributed with many vandalism reverts and am already familiar with what vandalism is and is not WP:VANDAL and already have the rollback right. I have also read WP:COPYRIGHT and have helped a little bit in deleting copyvios that already existed. I would love to be able to help even more and expand what I can do. Thanks, 🔄️TryAgainSooner🕑 🗣️ 21:16, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

Rollback

I have been working to revert vandalism for some time now, mostly patrolling Recent changes. I have used Twinkle and RedWarn to revert vandalism and warn vandals. Rollback rights would make it easier for me to revert obvious vandalism. Thanks. Charliehdb (talk) 10:57, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

I see that you are failing to consistently warn editors when you revert their edits (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Why? It's important to leave a notification for every revert you make. Are you aware that we have tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet that make this extremely easy? -Fastily 08:27, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
@Fastily: Thanks for pointing it out. I assure you that I will warn all vandals from now on. I hope you give me Rollback rights. Thanks. Charliehdb (talk) 12:40, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Please ensure that you are always leaving warnings. I can't stress enough the importance of not biting the newcomers; if you find yourself reverting good faith edits, then it's especially important to notify the editor. If you don't want to leave a template warning, that's completely fine, but you do need to leave a talk page message explaining why you reverted the edit. Moving forward, could you please make a promise to leave warnings/notifications for every revert? -Fastily 01:08, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
@Fastily: Offcourse, I will leave warnings/notifications for every revert. Charliehdb (talk) 13:39, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
Great, thanks for confirming. I'm also a bit concerned by your recent block for edit warring. How have you learned from this experience, and in your own words, can you explain why your actions leading up to the block were inappropriate? Also, courtesy ping for @Bbb23 -Fastily 20:29, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
I don't think Charlie is ready for rollback. Besides responding to your request for an explanation, I think they should wait until they have a better track record, including not edit-warring and giving people warnings.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:55, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
@Fastily: I was blocked on 5 July 2024, due to edit warring. But after that, I have learned more about wikipedia policies. As you can see, in my recent contributions I haven't been in any edit warring and was notifying the users about the reverts. Thanks. Charliehdb (talk) 03:09, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
Not done per Bbb23. Also your answer to my question does little to assure me that you have learned from the errors/behavior that led to your edit warring block. Please spend several more months establishing a track record of problem-free contributions before reapplying, thanks. -Fastily 09:41, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

I've been editing since 2015, with almost 80K edits, and have experience patrolling recent changes such as those in my watchlist. I'm familiar with policies such as VANDAL and WARN, and regularly use appropriate edit summaries and warning templates, through the use of Twinkle and RedWarn. Having rollback rights would help me revert clear cases of vandalism more effectively. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 15:35, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Not done I don't think you should be applying for advanced permissions at this time. I see you've been blocked repeatedly for edit warring and just had TE revoked. Even so, I've reviewed your recent contributions and found sparse/little to no recent anti-vandalism work, and that is simply too few examples for me to determine if you'll be able to use the right appropriately. Please spend a few months establishing a track record of problem-free contributions before reapplying, thanks -Fastily 09:41, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
@Fastily: my use of rollback would be strictly for clear cases of vandalism, and I actively revert vandalism using my alt account, Neveselbert (mobile), especially when I'm on the go. Regarding the template editing issues, I misunderstood the proper process. I would use rollback rights solely to revert clear-cut vandalism, which is a different and more straightforward task. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 20:03, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

I have been engaging in recent changes patrolling for some time now, so I'd like to request rollback permission primarily to be able to use tools, so that I can patrol more quickly and efficiently. Thanks. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 17:38, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

I've been actively patrolling recent changes for a significant amount of time and have developed a solid understanding of Wikipedia’s guidelines on vandalism and disruptive edits. Throughout this period, I’ve consistently identified and reverted problematic edits, but doing this manually can be time-consuming. Having rollback rights would allow me to handle these issues more quickly and efficiently, helping ensure Wikipedia stays a reliable resource. I’m committed to using these tools responsibly and continuing to contribute effectively to the project. Thank you DelphiLore (talk) 19:11, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Not done I reviewed your contributions and found little to no recent anti-vandalism work. If you're still interested in this tool then please spend at least a month actively patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits. Thanks, Fastily 09:41, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

I regularly patrol the recent changes page using filters that flag edits that may have problems or could be vandalism. With confirmed vandals, I keep an eye on their contributions for a short time afterwards to catch any resumed vandalism, while continuing to patrol recent changes. I previously used RedWarn, but I currently use UltraViolet and Twinkle. Rollback would enhance my recent change patrolling and anti-vandalism efforts. Thank you. R0paire-wiki (talk) 04:48, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

I see that you are failing to consistently warn editors when you revert their edits (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Why? It's important to leave a notification for every revert you make. Are you aware that we have tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet that make this extremely easy? -Fastily 05:57, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Yes I do use those tools, I believe in those cases I was concerned about biting a newcomer from a good faith or unnecessary edit, though I should have still given a notification to their talk to explain the reversion (which I now see more soft-worded warnings when using UV). I appreciate the feedback, I'll just continue as is without Rollback but being more thorough when giving any warnings or notices. Thank you. R0paire-wiki (talk) 00:43, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
Appreciate the honesty, please feel free to reapply when you're feeling more prepared. Closing as  Not done -Fastily 19:07, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback rights: I have seen multiple non-notable articles specifically about pages of Indian armed forces officials which have been vandalised and since they are not visited regularly by people with rollback rights, it is difficult to revert them line by line. Sensitive regional topic related articles too aren't regularly visited by editors, hence once vandalised, it may take weeks or even months for such articles to get to the notice of mainstream editors. I generally resort to line by line editing and proof reading of such articles which I find, hence have less reverting and undo count. I am a trusted editor, hence any concerns about misuse of this right may be disposed. VSankeerthSai1609 (talk) 08:08, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

Not done You don't need rollback to undo inappropriate edits. If you're still interested in this tool then please spend at least a month actively patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits. Thanks, Fastily 19:07, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

Hello. I have read all the policies and guidelines, I have 200 mainspace edits. Can I get Rollback? Electrou (formerly Susbush) (talk) 10:00, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

Template editor

I already work on templates from time to time, to improve formatting, fix links, add features, etc. My record speaks for itself that I am careful in making changes. Thanks. P 1 9 9   13:27, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

@Primefac: My "need for the right, as well as a familiarity with the care and responsibility required" is proven by my overall record and experience with WP, not necessarily meeting an arbitrary guideline limit. Thanks. -- P 1 9 9   15:23, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
I made no claims about your need, or lack thereof. I was simply filling out the standard guideline review. Primefac (talk) 15:36, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
@P199: can you give a few specific examples of where having template editor would be useful for you? Elli (talk | contribs) 16:40, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Due to the chronic shortage of admins at DYK to perform prep-to-queue moves, the protection levels were recently downgraded to Template editor - really per WT:DYK#Plan of action v2 but you may wish to start at WT:DYK#Giving queues template instead of full protection? for the full context. I would like to help with this. Launchballer 16:06, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

Launchballer, I suggest you remove this request for now as the process for making these requests is still under discussion at WT:DYK. Thanks, Gatoclass (talk) 22:57, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

I don't think it is appropriate that Launchballer was pressurised to withdraw this request, and so have completed a review anyway. I note that nearly all the edits to template namespace are to subpages of Template:Did you know nominations and are content-related rather than technical in nature. Criteria 5 and 6 are not met - these are designed to assess the need for the template editor user right. In this case there is clear demonstrable need, so I believe we may be able to exercise discretion, even if this is not a scenario that TPE was designed for. As this is potentially controversial, I will not act unilaterally in granting the user right but will wait for comments from other admins patrolling this page — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:26, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
I think the "need for the right" should be demonstrated alternatively for cases like this by edits to the DYK prep templates or edit requests at WP:ERRORS or WP:DYK for the DYK queues. Launchballer has plenty of experience in these areas. —Kusma (talk) 08:29, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
I don't know if it helps, but I've struck my withdrawal. If this is successful, I will wait for WT:DYK to say so before actually using it.--Launchballer 08:48, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

I feel like WP:INVOLVED prevents me from actioning this request myself, but I will say that having worked with Launchballer for several years at DYK, I trust them not to abuse this privilege. RoySmith (talk) 13:16, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

  • Based on my interactions with Launchballer since my return, I concur with RoySmith. I recommend approving this request, as there is a clear understanding of the specific area to be worked, and Launchballer has a good enough head on their shoulders to reach out for help if they are having difficulty.  — Chris Woodrich (talk) 19:01, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
