ADAGP presentation

[edit]

Hello again P199. Is this presentation by ADAGP (Société des Auteurs Dans Les Arts Graphiques et Plastiques) a reliable source, to be used in ADAGP's criticism of FoP and Wikipedia. I'm thinking of adding it to either a section at Freedom of panorama or at Criticism of Wikipedia, but I'm not sure which article is the best choice for this new section. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 22:59, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @JWilz12345: as a report written by an organization directly involved, this is a WP:PRIMARYSOURCE. Thus, the discussion on FOP is naturally written to favor their position. But that doesn't mean that you cannot use it selectively, see the link. Regards, -- P 1 9 9   14:52, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nakina

[edit]

Article vs. redirect isn't a question of the amount of information present — it's a question of the amount of referencing that is or isn't present to support said information. Bearcat (talk) 14:20, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bearcat: Patience please... -- P 1 9 9   14:25, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not incumbent on me to be the patient one. You used the revert button, which gave me a big red notification that you were slapping me in the face for doing a bad thing — if you want to improve the article to a state where it can stand alone again, you're certainly free to do that, but using the revert function in advance of actually adding any references is not the appropriate way to go about that. Reverting is only for "this was the wrong thing to do, bad Bearcat, smack smack go to your room and think about what you did!", and not for "this was the right thing to do at the time but I'm going to fix the problem later on". Bearcat (talk) 14:32, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, you are taking this far too personal! Relax! No one is accusing you of anything. I wanted to write an article about Nakina, and saw in the redirect history that there was a previous article. Instead of writing from scratch, I want to base the article on the previous work (thereby giving credit to all previous contributors). So yes, the way to do that is by clicking "restore this version", and then work on the improvements. -- P 1 9 9   14:41, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the external links to this article. Especially the Ottertooth River Trip Report is interesting, because it mentions Edward Umfreville, a 18th-centure explorer, that travelled via the Ottertooth Creek searching for an alternative canoe route west. That could be a great hook (seeing that we can't get agreement on the existing hooks). But as a travel blog, I can't use that website as a source, and I can't seem to find a reliable secondary source linking Umfreville to Ottertooth Creek. Can you help? If you know where to find that, then I will add it to the article. Thanks! -- P 1 9 9   20:38, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Here's what I found:
  • Nipigon to Winnipeg.
  • Nipigon to Winnipeg.
  • Nipigon to Winnipeg. Creative Media Partners, LLC. 9 September 2021. ISBN 978-1-01-413941-2.
  • Nipigon to Winnipeg. HASSELL STREET Press. 9 September 2021. ISBN 978-1013648304.
— Preceding unsigned comment added by Evrik (talkcontribs) 17:09, May 14, 2024 (UTC)
  • Thanks @Evrik:. I had seen these links, but they are the primary account of Umfreville. But maybe I can use the first one with additional comments. In any case, it would mean a new hook which you need to review and approve. And then hopefully that is acceptable... Regards, -- P 1 9 9   15:23, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
