Invitation to participate in a research
[edit]Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,

- An unreferenced articles backlog drive is happening in November 2024 to reduce the backlog of articles tagged with {{Unreferenced}}. You can help reduce the backlog by adding citations to these articles. Sign up to participate!
Perfidy in the wild?!
[edit]Don't get a chance to use perfidy very often. Also, good demonstrating of good faith by not immediately blocking, which is what I would have done. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:04, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hey ho. If I get a positive message every time I might need to start editing with a thesaurus at hand. I did consider blocking immediately, which I see you have now done. I ran a check on them and the results were not what you'd usually expect from a LTA, so I reckoned I'd give them one... uhh... lilliputian chance – a formality if nothing else – to thoroughly explain why they attempted to impersonate someone, prior to pushing the button. DatGuyTalkContribs 16:29, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- I was going to leave them unblocked as well, leaving that to your judgement, but when I checked the history and saw that they had removed that section after being caught out that pushed me over the edge to block. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:30, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

P.S. I am so sorry for the lateness. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 22:41, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you!
[edit]Thanks much for fixing my filter. I always run the standard tests on them before I save, but the tests missed that mistake. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:52, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- No worries. You might like to use SoY's batchtest-plus if you don't already; it adds a 'FP check' that tests against Special:AbuseFilter/1201 for false positives. DatGuyTalkContribs 21:58, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that's the one I used! If I recall correctly, it had one 1/99 hits, which isn't unusual for that filter. I should've looked at that one hit more closely. OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:07, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
