Reduce size of File:Dekemvriana_1944_SYNTAGMA.jpg
The resolution reduction of File:Dekemvriana_1944_SYNTAGMA.jpg on 27 April 2017 makes it very hard to distinguish uniforms and people (not) holding guns. Please restore to prior size - (if I remember correctly) the image was already low quality scan from paper. Thanks, Sperxios (talk) 12:55, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- Added my comment at Wikipedia:Files_for_discussion/2017_November_6#File:Dekemvriana_1944_SYNTAGMA.jpg, as DatGuy cannot revert. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:32, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Did bot crash?
I know DatBot6 starts at 10pm, so I've been trying to tag before then (not as easy as when we were BST and it was 11pm, now we're back to GMT=UTC and it's now 10pm here). So there were plenty of files, but it only ran 27min. RonBot1 died as well at 5sm, but totally unrelated, c'ést la vie. Ronhjones (Talk) 14:40, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- Honestly, DatBot is crashing a lot. I'll add a try: except: statement. Dat GuyTalkContribs 16:09, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Ronhjones: Actually, I'll just fully rewrite the code using more updated libraries. Could you try to move some files to test2wiki? Dat GuyTalkContribs 08:17, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload says "NO MORE UPLOADS". So I made https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Non-free_reduce and stuck it on a few old images already on the test wiki - see https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedia_non-free_file_size_reduction_requests. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:22, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- See you are still struggling with bot (I saw a zero byte upload on the test wiki!). I've stopped tagging files every day (so the category does not get ridiculously full), I've enable Theo again (it will do some random number of files every day), and I'm running the bot code on my PC in semi-auto mode (I have to press return between each upload - otherwise it becomes a non-approved bot!), when I'm at the PC. If there's anything else I can do, let me know. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:30, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'm having some issues offwiki. Dat GuyTalkContribs 16:34, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

- If you use the Chrome web browser on Android you can see a download icon on the mobile website. You can download a formatted PDF. It will work in other mobile browsers in the future. [8]
- The abuse filter now has a function called
get_matches
. You can use it to store matches from regular expressions – one of each capturing group. You can read more in Phabricator.
Problems
- Last week's MediaWiki version didn't come to all Wikipedias because of a database crash. It will be on all wikis on 20 November. [9][10][11]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 21 November at 19:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 22 November at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Language converter syntax will no longer work inside external links. Wikitext like
http://-{zh-cn:foo.com; zh-hk:bar.com; zh-tw:baz.com}-
must be replaced. You will have to write-{zh-cn: http://foo.com ; zh-hk: http://bar.com ; zh-tw:http://baz.com }-
instead. This only affects languages with Language Converter enabled. Examples of such languages are Chinese and Serbian. This will happen next week. [12][13]
