Hi - there were two separate discussions at the AfD; one around general notability, which your close addressed, and another around the application of presumed notability under NPOL, with specific reference to an an earlier AFD discussion which accorded presumed notability to an ADC member. I'd ask you to reconsider your close and reopen the discussion as I do not believe it addresses a core issue of the discussion or a precedent. Thank you and regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 11:26, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
- Goldsztajn, sorry, but that's a no. While prior AfDs may have had a different result, consensus can change, and I believe I correctly interpreted the consensus at that discussion. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:17, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 21:39, 1 April 2023 (UTC)

Nadeem Omar (footballer)
@Seraphimblade:, Why did you relist Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nadeem Omar (footballer) when there is clear consensus to keep (the first and only user who voted delete probably didn't even try to find sources). I feel like if this was discussion was the other way around, with the first user saying keep without saying much and the last 3 coming to consensus to delete, the discussion would not be relisted. Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 02:45, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- Das osmnezz, I do not believe that two arguments to delete and three to keep is a "clear consensus to keep". Were I to close it at that point, I would have closed it as "no consensus", but I prefer not to do that unless I think a relist has little hope of seeing consensus develop. Here, I think there's a reasonable chance a relisting will result in a consensus forming, so that's what I did. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:05, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade:, I would understand that rationale but I don't understand how you can say you used that same rationale for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charlie Morgan (entrepreneur), where somehow you interpreted 5 votes to keep and 6 votes to delete (especially since the last/final two comments in the discussion were in favor of keeping and were left unanswered before the discussion was closed) as consensus to delete instead of relisting. That discussion was probably a more clear relist, but you somehow decided to close that discussion while relisting this one, even though this one has more of a consensus (especially since the points are backed up with evidence that has not been disputed while everything in the other discussion was disputed). Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 03:11, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not inclined to extensively discuss a relist. Other editors will participate, and it will go the way it goes. If, indeed, the keep arguments are solid, then further participants will agree with them, and that's what the consensus will turn out to be. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:30, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

Goro (Mortal Kombat)
I feel this AFD should be re-opened. The arguments for merging mainly constitute of WP:ITSNOTNOTABLE. Most the sources I provided were not refuted beyond people saying "they are trivial," without saying why they are trivial (besides the promotional piece source). MoonJet (talk) 11:03, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- MoonJet, while it's clear that was your opinion, I'm afraid it was only yours. The consensus for a merge was clear, and still is when I look again, so I will not reopen the discussion. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:13, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm curious about your decision to Delete at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charity Lawson given that a clear WP:ATD existed and was suggested: redirecting to The Bachelorette (American season 19). Can you speak to that decision? Thanks! Suriname0 (talk) 13:10, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- My apologies, the appropriate redirect target would be The Bachelor (American season 27). That likely contributed to the confusion. Suriname0 (talk) 15:09, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- Suriname0, if you'd like to redirect it there, there's certainly no problem with that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:51, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- Done. I was under the impression that article recreations were forbidden after AFD Deletes. Suriname0 (talk) 22:22, 8 April 2023 (UTC)

Regarding TNPL teams
Hi, sir, hope yo are doing good The teams in TNPL is notable as per notability guidelines of Wikipedia, that TNPL is played by Domestic cricketers along with State players who represents thier state in national level tournaments and National players who represents India in international tournaments. Hope you will reconsider the redirection of those articles.
Thanks in advance ! Lightweightbody (talk) 07:21, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
- Lightweightbody, as I have already told you on your talk page, that decision was not mine, but rather made by community consensus. Again, you may request a deletion review if you believe the consensus was interpreted incorrectly in that discussion, but neither you nor I may unilaterally overturn it. Incorrectly placed question
Hi why was this page deleted when it had all the right sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.2.94.201 (talk • contribs)
- Your IP address has only edited a few pages which were later deleted, and those edits were made back in 2004 and 2006. If you have a question about a specific deletion, you will have to tell me which particular page you are referring to. And going forward, please make sure you place your comments at the bottom of this section, not randomly. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:15, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

My sandbox was deleted through speedy deletion, and I was wondering if I could use my sandbox again, and I understand the reasoning for my attempted article for the rapper Lil Darkie, which I didn't mean to be seen as promotional. TheOneBun (talk) 00:37, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

Bios of Public Figures in the Banking Sector
I took some time to recognize that the Wiki article on Central Banks contained a list of Governors without backup bios or other reference material. I took the time to start the research to begin with Yinager Dessie the 9th governor just this month at the end of term replaced.
My article - his bio was derived from research and references were presented as to the sources. I felt this deletion was in error as there is no promotion or other intent found in the article - I replaced it and again it was deleted.
I find no reason for this - please explain - or should I apply for a lock on the article? Mark (talk) 14:01, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

Gender Power Gap deletion advice
Hi, I'm the original writer behind the article that was deleted a couple weeks ago: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gender power gap. I'm new to Wikipedia and its permitted style of writing. - Stablemushrooms, I suggest you read the AfD discussion to see what the concerns were, and if it is possible to rewrite the article in a way that would alleviate those concerns. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:18, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade thanks. are you able to provide specific examples that illustrate the concerns from the AfD discussion, please? So I can reword them. Also, would you advise creating the article or is there another procedure you'd recommend? Thank you for your assistance. Stablemushrooms (talk) 08:21, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- I already gave the advice I had to give. Repeating the question won't change that. Read the AfD discussion, and then see if you can rewrite the article in a way that would address the concerns raised there. I'm not going to do that for you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:28, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Requesting Permission for Updating & Publishing this article "Draft:Kailash Group of Hospitals"
I am writing to request your permission to update and republish an article on Wikipedia titled "Kailash Group of Hospitals". The article was previously deleted because the article seem too promotional. Now I have some independent reliable source about the topic. I would like to work with you to make the necessary improvements to ensure it meets Wikipedia's standards for inclusion.
I have thoroughly researched the topic and have access to reliable sources to provide accurate and verifiable information.
I am committed to ensuring that the article meets Wikipedia's guidelines for neutrality, notability, and verifiability. I would appreciate your guidance in this regard, and I am willing to work with you to make any necessary changes or additions to the article. Shubh84 (talk) 07:20, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Shubh84, you do not need permission to start a new draft. Since you are editing for pay, you will need to follow the conflict of interest process, which would mean to create a new draft (at the same place you linked to above), and then seek review via articles for creation so that someone without a conflict of interest can review that draft. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:27, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- I have updated the content on the article: "Kailash Group of Hospitals". I have just added some information about the hospital and will update more in near future. Kindly check it, if it is OK then make it public and if it is not good then kindly guide me through. Thank you! Shubh84 (talk) 05:03, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- I will not be reviewing it. As above, you will need to wait for AfC. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:45, 28 April 2023 (UTC)

- Thank you for doing that. So, on to the substance. The deletion of the draft was not due to lack of notability (though what you've shown here doesn't really do anything toward that, it seems to consist of interviews, reprinted press releases, editorials, and sources which are not independent, which don't contribute toward that.) However, even if it turns out that the subject in question is notable, promotional material about them would still be subject to deletion. Reviving the biography of Stephen J. Lye
Dear @Seraphimblade,
As a new user and passionate writer of scientific content, I attempted to create the page for professor SJL. I may have moved it to the live space prematurely and ask that it please be moved back to the DRAFT space to continue working on and submit for proper review abiding by all content laws and rules. Please do let me continue to add content to the page and have help making it appropriate for reviews/editors without bias or any possible copyright.
Thank you for your consideration,

- Scholar12312331, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first clarify if you are being paid or otherwise compensated to edit Wikipedia. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:30, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Seraphimblade,
- No, I am not being paid or otherwise compensated to edit Wikipedia, merely out of enjoyment and educational purposes. I hope this is satisfactory, and that I have the opportunity to remove any promotional material that I may have added in error. Thank you. Scholar12312331 (talk) 21:03, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
- Then, if you are not associated with this individual, could you please explain how you took this close-up, clearly posed photograph of him? Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:12, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Seraphimblade,
- That image was found online, if you google Dr. Lye, you can find many pictures. I can replace or remove it if this image is not satisfactory. Please let me know. Scholar12312331 (talk) 14:35, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- You stated, in the upload, that that photograph was your own work. Now you're telling me it wasn't. So one way or the other, you were being untruthful. Are you asking if dishonesty like that is "satisfactory"? No, of course it isn't. And now I really don't believe your claim that you're not being compensated, either. Regardless, it is clear that the material you were placing here also had no regard for whether it contained copyright violations, so I will certainly not restore it. Your conditions on Geographyinitiative
Seraphimblade, on behalf of the wider community who might want to interact with Geographyinitiative, can I ask for an acknowledgement that these conditions will be applied with common sense? The use of talk pages to discuss edits is core to Wikipedia's collaborative nature, and complex questions sometimes need quite a lot of to-and-fro. The conditions unfortunately create a situation where I could innocently ask them a constructive question about an article we're both editing, and they'd be unable to answer because they've already hit four responses in the section. May I suggest that in such situations it would be sensible to allow Geographyinitiative to post a fifth response, "I am normally limited to four responses; may I continue to contribute?", and to explicitly grant the community the right to exempt that section from the ban?? Elemimele (talk) 10:29, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- Elemimele, it is always possible that an individual subject to an unblock condition may ask for an exemption to it, and per the normal exceptions to topic bans, it is not a violation of a ban to ask for an appeal or exception to the ban. If Geographyinitiative were to make a reasonable request either to me or to the community for an exception, I suspect it would be granted, but it would be subject to such oversight to make sure they are not bludgeoning or otherwise monopolizing the discussion in question. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:41, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- I need these rules, and I will need them forever, and I am very happy that they are a condition of me being on Wikipedia. They really make life good for me, and now it's actually required for me! It is absolutely incredible how my whole experience was transformed by these rules. And once I was doing it for a while, other editor's perceptions of me changed along with it, and then I changed my viewpoint as well. This all allowed me to get into the position where I could be unblocked at all. Geographyinitiative (talk) 12:49, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- GI, I appreciate your position, and it's great that you want to come back and edit constructively. But we, the community, need to be able to talk about edits too. Collaboration is utterly central to Wikipedia. I'm rather uncomfortable that one admin, and one editor, can decide bilaterally that it's okay to abandon that principle. The saving grace is that you've had the foresight to agree not to revert. Otherwise there was just a huge risk that you'd get dragged off to ANI for refusing to discuss contentious edits, when in fact you weren't allowed to discuss the edits! Elemimele (talk) 12:57, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- Unblock conditions have long been permitted by policy, so that an editor may agree to return to editing under restrictions that address how they previously were disruptive. And I think four posts are more than sufficient to explain a revert. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:18, 27 May 2023 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.

[1]https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/oAKgeTSOQA Sonic Sunset (talk) 19:29, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- Sonic Sunset, the prior article was deleted on the grounds that there was no indication of notability. In specifically the context of Wikipedia, notability means that multiple reliable and independent sources exist which cover a subject to reasonable depth, not just a mention or name drop. Chart positions and the like are not particularly important (they may sometimes indicate when such material is likely to exist, but they do not substitute for it actually existing). "Onam Records" is not independent, and Discogs is not really anything for it. The LA Times and Billboard sources are only a brief mention, not in-depth coverage. If that is the best reference material available about this subject, it looks to me like the result of the AfD was the correct one. Do note that sources need not be "in digital format"—sources must be published, but if they were published in print form and have not been made available digitally, that is still fine. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:44, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the quick reply. R&R (Radio and Records) was the most reliable source for chart positions during this period of time. I included a link which I am not sure you were able to use that contained jpegs of the groups success on radio nationally. The 10 albums released were not done independently but through recording contracts secured with recognized record labels. If you can point me to a way to upload theses pages (jpegs) I will do so. I can also send the links to each source however it’s the full R&R magazine and the viewer would have to read through to find the NAC (New Adult Contemporary) Top 30 page that Windows charted on.
- Do you need more of theses type of links below?

- Please read what makes a source reliable. An Amazon review is not a reliable source. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:20, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, and you asked a different question above which I didn't see above. No, I don't need anything showing what their chart positions were, since that does not matter. There would need to be in-depth coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources, not anything other than that. A simple photograph of a chart position is not in-depth. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:22, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- I will look for sources based on this information. Is the LA Times review an acceptable example? Sonic Sunset (talk) 21:25, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- No. That only briefly mentions it. Mentions don't count. In-depth coverage must be substantially about this exact subject (in this case, the band "Windows"), not just a brief mention of it in something which is about something else. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:27, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

abortion under communism
Which were the policy-based arguments that you weighed more strongly than the others? If you look at the content of those saying keep, there really quite terrible (it seems a useful article
, per [the person who just said "it seems a useful article"]
, I think that the topic is notable
, a "keep with conditions" that doesn't present any reason at all to keep, and a keep that's actually a merge (and provides no reason to retain the article) ... that's ... all of them). The merges aren't any better. Nobody really bothered to address any of the issues raised (e.g. the huge WP:SYNTH problem). At minimum IMO it should be relisted to see if anyone attempts to respond to the actual issues raised. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 01:35, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- In this case, the debate was more or less about the appropriateness of the article subject. A clear consensus of editors agreed that the article is suitable. You disagreed, but that was not the consensus position. I will not, therefore, relist it—relists are for cases where a clear consensus hasn't yet formed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:54, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- To address the synth issue, would you advise I take it to DRV, or renominate with a different rationale? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 02:00, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- You can, in the end, do whatever you like with it. I think the consensus at that discussion was quite clear, but if you disagree, you certainly can always request a DRV if you like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:37, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Guidance on a COI/linkspam matter
Hi Seraphimblade, I’m reaching out for guidance on a situation re: COI editing and linkspam that has re-emerged regarding Public Art in Public Places (PAiPP) and their associates. You may remember this matter from a couple years ago. Since then an IP-hopping editor has added back numerous links to PAiPP (all IPs originate from the same location, which I believe is connected per off-wiki evidence that I won’t post here).
Fellow editor User:Barte and I have been having a discussion of the problem here: [2], and here: [3]. Additional diffs can be supplied if you like. The COI problem goes back to 2014 [4], however the organization director K.M. Williamson (now known as User:M Na zdravi), denies having ever edited about PAiPP, however this proves differently: [5]. She may have also edited as TashaBehrent (now known as User:Shabehr), Barte and I are uncertain about this, although the two accounts seem deeply intertwined. They both stopped directly editing after one of them was blocked (by you) and subsequently unblocked, which is when the IPs began showing up, most recently with this diff: [6].
Because of the complexity of the issues (COI, linkspam and/or promotional editing, possible socking or COI editing while logged-out) it seems like an administrator should be contacted. I try to avoid drama on WP, which is why I’m contacting you directly to inquire what might be the best course of action, if any. I apologize in advance for the length of this message, thank you for your time and consideration. Netherzone (talk) 19:04, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- When I nominated the PAIPP article for deletion in September 2020, I counted some 80 references to the organization on Wikipedia, for example, here, most or all being added from the same accounts. A few years later, my impression remains the same: PAIPP seems to view Wikipedia more as a promotional vehicle than an encyclopedia, and when it received subsequent pushback from @Netherzone:, it questioned their integrity, then went silent rather than discussing. The situation is, as noted, complex and long-standing, and I appreciate your looking at it. Barte (talk) 20:45, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- Netherzone and Barte, I think you're right to be concerned about this, and I do remember this mess, though not all of the details off the top of my head. Since I will not immediately have time to dig into what looks like a rather complex situation, I would suggest bringing this matter up at the conflict of interest noticeboard, where editors used to dealing with COI issues can take a look at what's going on here. I'll try to check it out too, but it will likely be at least a few days before I have time enough, so COIN is probably the best option. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:48, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- I think I'm speaking here for me and Netherzone: we've been proceeding carefully and would really like your take before going further. So, happy to wait. Barte (talk) 21:56, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

WP:Articles for deletion/Douglas Bertram MacDonald
Can you relist WP:Articles for deletion/Douglas Bertram MacDonald? None of the Delete comments addressed the possibility of merger that I raised. Most of the information and the references would fit in well in Westmount Subdivision which already mentions another veteran for which a park was named.
Also, consensus is weak - technically it's 6 deletes to 3 keeps - but 3 of the deletes were before any independent sources were added to the article, and 2 of them never came back and discussed again - and the 3rd never mentioned what was added and was debating minutia about service medals. Nfitz (talk) 02:23, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
I'm also puzzled how some of those who declared the sources don't meet GNG seem to have spent only a minute or two looking at the article between the other things they were editing - and actually managed to review the various articles, which are only available by request. How many other than me, User:Wp20151110, asked for a copy of the scanned articles? (I'm sorry Wp2015... that I didn't get around to improving the citations - I figured that with 3 keeps and 2 deletes (and a 3rd after I looked) after detailed independent sources were added, that it was going to be a relist). Nfitz (talk) 02:18, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- No, the consensus there is quite clear. Relists are for when consensus hasn't been reached, and there it clearly had been. I know you disagreed, but on that one your arguments didn't convince most who commented. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:11, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- Most who commented never saw the references; none discussed the references in particular - I'm doubtful if many even looked at them. Besides - consensus isn't based on a vote - it's policy based - and not one of the delete's discussed why a merger was not appropriate. With no consensus the only possible outcome after only a week is a relist. Please do so. Nfitz (talk) 03:55, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- You already asked that, and already received the answer. Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:40, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. This is the author of the article that you deleted. The deletion log 17:03, 14 June 2023 seems to be referring to the A7 reason of 09:39, 5 June 2023 Justlettersandnumbers or is there another reason for the deletion? Wp20151110 (talk) 08:41, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I'm not sure what you're asking. Justlettersandnumbers deleted the article on 5 June under the A7 speedy deletion criterion. Following that, the article was recreated, and nominated at AfD. That AfD resulted in the deletion on 14 June. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:35, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- OK thank you for replying. To clarify my question: What specifically in the AfD convinced you to delete it, and if possible how can the article be improved for it to be accepted? Wp20151110 (talk) 17:00, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- It's not about convincing me, but rather those who participated at the AfD. The delete arguments were generally based upon the subject not being notable; that is, that there does not exist a sufficient quantity of reliable and independent reference material to make an article viable. That's a question that depends on the existence of such material rather than anything about its current state, so a decision that a subject does not pass the GNG generally indicates that there should not at that time be an article about the subject at all, not that improvement is needed. - Thank you again for the clarification. When the article was first published it was a basic version to help understand how this process worked. As feedback was given the article was improved. The question of notability was addressed by references to several newspaper stories and one book. On request scans of the newspaper articles were sent to Nfitz who then declared them as GNG quality. Did others in the AfD see them? Wp20151110 (talk) 07:55, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

- Understood. Wp20151110 (talk) 15:58, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- While you don't know what some of the later editors considered, you do know that half the delete voters made their opinion before the article was WP:HEYed, and that the other delete voters didn't address their issue with the references that were being claimed as GNG. There was no explanation by any of the deletes why the articles in question didn't meet GNG. I'm not saying there was consensus to keep or merge. But I don't see consensus at all, given the first 3 votes - and normally when there's not a very clear consensus, at least one relist is standard - if not more. I'd ask you to relist again, but I think that's clear. Can you mail me a copy of the article; I'm working on a DRV, but the references (the citations themselves) need to be improved for a proper evaluation - which I noted in my keep vote I was going to do, but hadn't had the chance to do before it was deleted. Nfitz (talk) 20:03, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:01, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- OK thank you for replying. To clarify my question: What specifically in the AfD convinced you to delete it, and if possible how can the article be improved for it to be accepted? Wp20151110 (talk) 17:00, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
I don't really do email, but if you'd like a list of the references used in the final version of the article, I can give you those. Let me know if you'd like them. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:10, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough - can you copy the text to User:Nfitz/Douglas Bertram MacDonald? If Douglas Bertram MacDonald hasn't been deleted yet (I buggered that up), please delete it. Nfitz (talk) 02:37, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of Cambridge Precision Ltd Wikipedia Page
Hi there, i was wondering why you deleted the page Cambridge Precision Ltd. I had spent a long time creating the page and providing a range of sources from local newspapers to national coverage and regional awards.
They are a large employer in Cambridgeshire UK and have recently expanded as well as working with the government and Cambridge University directly during the pandemic.
They also work internationally with The University Of Ethiopia with a space creating a ventilator for developing nations. They also look to sponsor heritage crafts, seeking to preserve ancient methods of craftmanship in the UK.
I provided numerous sources for all information on the page and it was written from an impartial point of view. Please will you consider approving the draft for me please - Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lynwike (talk • contribs)
- Lynwike, from your focus on this topic, it is clear that you are being paid or otherwise compensated to write about it, or have some financial interest in it. You will therefore need to make the mandatory paid editing disclosure before we continue discussing it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:34, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there, I am a local person in St Neots and Cambridgeshire - Cambridge Precision Ltd have recently expanded in the area and it would be good if people could find more information about them? I thought they already had a wikipedia page but as they do not i have decided to create them one - they have ties to Cambridge University as well as the UK Govenment so surely are now worthy! Thanks Lynwike (talk) 10:48, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- I think I do not believe that you are just a "local person" who just decided to write about this organization. Certainly not with marketese junk like

(a bunch of puff adjectives, and companies may sell sand or software or machines or massages, but they do not sell "solutions"), and then a bunch of awardspam and the like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:30, 20 June 2023 (UTC)- Ok i am sorry my writing could be better, please let me know what words i should remove or add to the draft please as you are the expert here. Thank you for your consideration Todd, would love to be able to work with you on this to improve the page! Thanks Lynwike (talk) 09:13, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

- Hi Todd, i am not being paid for this work. I am a local person in the area and i am interested in creating a page for businesses that are expanding in the town. As you can see they recently won a national award that was on the front page of the local news site - some of the words i have used are maybe they are too "commercial" but if you can suggest how i can word the page better that would be of great help? I spent alot of time on the page and added links which hope i used citations properly as it was quite fiddly to do! Please let me know if i have done this correctly? Thanks : o ) Lynwike (talk) 13:29, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Todd am i ok to submit my draft again now? I noticed you have removed some other changes i have made are they not acceptable? Thanks Lynwike (talk) 21:05, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

I was working on the necessary adjustments to further correct my earlier errors and misappropriation of links titles. Then I noticed that the article had been deleted. I personally moved the said article from article to draft so I could make adjustments. (thank) forthekingdom 13:32, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

- There is no "abuse" in deleting promotional material. Articles on Wikipedia are required to be neutral, and not promote anyone or anything, including by any type of "talking up". The deletion log is clear that the article was deleted for promotion as well. If you think that this individual passes the notability criteria and you can write neutrally, you can try again, but I always encourage newer editors to utilize the draft and AfC process rather than trying to go straight to mainspace on their own. Even drafts, however, may be deleted if they are promotional, and you can't bounce back and forth between draft and mainspace to retain inappropriate material. About Sundropie
I've talked to Sundropie and he said that he is really, really sorry for making copyright violations, repeated submission of inappropriate unblock requests, and unexplained reversions (examples: the Puppet Master (Marvel Comics) and Absorbing Man pages). He said that what he did was very, very wrong. He said that he was just so confused about these rules that he doesn't even know what he was doing. He said that if you guys unblock him, he'll never ever, ever continue to make these disruptive edits again and use edit summaries despite several requests to do so in the future from now on. He also said that he admits his mistakes and learned from them. 172.13.193.84 (talk) 02:15, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

- Well, you can tell, uh, your friend that if they want to make further appeals of that kind, they may contact WP:UTRS. You also might want to mention that neither sockpuppetry nor meat puppetry to evade the block will do any favors for their case. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:50, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
Geographyinitiative
I am sorry to bother you, but a user you conditionally unblocked in May (User:Geographyinitiative) has made edits at Sakhalin ([7] [8] [9]) and Tibet under Qing rule that seem like a return to old behavior. I encountered Geographyinitiative three years ago at Sakhalin where a frustrating discussion occurred. I did not realize until later that there were other issues regarding the user like edit warring over the inclusion of simplified Chinese on certain pages, for which they were eventually indeffed. In June they deleted the Chinese name of Sakhalin, which was the subject of the argument three years ago, based on a tangentially related reason in the edit summary: inclusion of a Chinese name supports irredentist claims on the city of Blagoveshchensk. After I reverted them, they deleted only the simplified Chinese part with similar reasoning. After my second revert, they moved the names to the Etymology section. While the last edit seems benign, even preferred, it is hard to see it as anything but a continuation of their previous behavior and a circumvention of the WP:1RR condition for their unblock.
At Tibet under Qing rule they removed a map because "I didn't like this map when I saw it
" and because they agreed with a stale talk section made by a consensus-fighting multi-account POVPUSHer that nobody had responded to in eight years. After my reversion, they templated the image and uploaded a new version. This kind of fighting edits, rationale, flippant language ("lol
" at the end of an edit summary), and concern with deleting simplified Chinese names that led to their ban, does not feel like someone who has changed. Qiushufang (talk) 10:14, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- On the substantive issues: 1) "the last edit seems benign, even preferred"- I believe this means I did a worthwhile edit, so I'm glad we've strengthened the encyclopedia, and I thank the user for working with me to make the encyclopedia better-- & 2) "There continue to be issues with this map that have not been addressed." [10]- comment from AjaxSmack, which I believe applies to my concerns, and explains why I didn't like the map when I saw it. (Note: I found two other issues with the map: since it's all one color, it's unclear what islands are considered part of Qing- leaves it open to interpretation of the reader. Also, the nothern boundary of Tibet is WILDLY DIFFERENT in two maps saying they are both a representation of the Qing dynasty in 1820: [11]- [12] says "Tibet and the Qing dynasty in 1820.".-- I have started a discussion about this issue here: Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Humanities#Tibet's_Northern_Boundary_in_1820, please join in! Note: my participation in that discussion is of course subject to my "four comments" rule. Two other editors have commented that the Tibet borders may not be exact lines- see [13].)
It's not 100% clear to me that the user has specifically stated that I have violated any rules or my unblock conditions- I think controversy is allowed. If controversy is not allowed, that would cause a chilling effect on my ability to be boldly editing within the Wikipedia rules and my unblock conditions. Let me know if I have violated any aspect of the conditions for me and I will revert or undo whatever that content is. I do not want to do anything that violates those rules, and if I have, I will do anything necessary to cure that error (undo edits, self-revert, etc). My use of 'lol' is me speaking truth to power in the vernacular of our age, not an indication of flippancy. I will revert whatever went beyond any rule or my conditions. I have no interest in violating the conditions set out for me, none, zero. The conditions of my unblock are a gift to me, and I am kept safe by them. I am happy to be working with the above user to improve the encyclopedia to its best possible form. There are hard questions here, and I'm not afraid to step on toes, BUT ONLY if I am within the rules of Wikipedia and the conditions of my unblock. I'm an editor unafraid to challenge the status quo: for instance, after 20 years of little to no coverage, I created Wiktionary:Category:English_terms_derived_from_Wade–Giles, which will serve as the backbone for an expanded version of Wikipedia's Category:Redirects from Wade–Giles- these words are verboten on Wikipedia, and intensely disliked. My willingness to look at the deficiencies of Wikipedia with an honest eye can draw the ire of other editors, but my unblock conditions help protect me from any problems,. Thanks to the above user for their work and thanks to seraphim for looking at this. I am not a perfect person, but I'm doing my best to be a good editor and to work with others to make a good resource for the readers. Sorry for the modifications. Geographyinitiative (talk) 11:15, 15 July 2023 (UTC) (Modified)- Qiushufang, I am not sure what unblock condition you're claiming was violated. Could you please pare down to which condition you think was violated, and which edit(s) you think violated it? Geographyinitiative, your use of "lol" in that context is a bit dismissive and insulting, or could at least be taken that way. Unless you actually are joking around with someone you know will take it well and not take offense to it, it's probably best to leave things like that out of edit summaries and the like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:41, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- Seraphimblade, the three edits here seem to contravene the WP:1RR condition. They deleted the same content twice based on similar but minutely different reasons and then moved the content to another section of the page, which if not a 1RR violation seems to at least push against it in spirit. I find their behavior to be largely consistent to their pre-ban state as well with exhausting WP:LAWYER behavior, which was part of the reason they were indeffed in the first place. Frankly I dread communicating with this user and thought I would bring this to your attention since you were the one who unblocked them. Sorry for the trouble. Qiushufang (talk) 21:57, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- No need to apologize, and thanks for clarifying. It has been addressed appropriately. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:29, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Unless you actually are joking around with someone you know will take it well and not take offense to it, it's probably best to leave things like that out of edit summaries and the like. The arbitration case Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/AlisonW has been closed, and the final decision is viewable at the case page. The following remedy has been enacted:
- For failure to meet the conduct standards expected of an administrator, AlisonW's administrative user rights are removed. She may regain them at any time via a successful request for adminship.

Interface administrator changes
- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)

Are townships covered by AP2?
I recently made a couple of cosmetic edits and a deletion from Upper Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania#Government and politics. No ulterior motivation, just came across it through the Random button and found the footnotes glaringly conspicuous. But now I see how that section looks, in a broad construal sense, so figured you're the one to ask (per the last sentence of the autonotice you posted on my talk page). Should I self-revert? Ignore such style errors in the future? Restore the deletion? Be blocked? Be warned? None of the above? Other? In any case, there's this presidential candidate with six citations in his lead for a single fact, and I damn sure know better than to fix that. These bumps aside, avoidance has been fairly easy for me and presumably relatively pleasant for those still involved, so cheers to that much! InedibleHulk (talk) 00:42, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
Self-reverted everything for now. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:54, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- InedibleHulk, you were probably wise to do that. Yes, sections of articles which discuss AP2 topics are off-limits, even if the rest of the article isn't. (As long as the primary topic is not AP2-related, you can still edit the rest of the article, so it would be fine for you to edit the sections of the article about a city's climate, demographics, etc.) Since you realized it and self-reverted, though, I'm not inclined to make anything more of it. Albanian-greek border war of 1949
Hello,
I saw that the page of the Albanian-grevo border war has been deleted .https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Albanian-Greek_Border_War_(1949)&action=edit&redlink=1
I would like to know if i can make a request on having it to return ?
Thank you Truth t (talk) 07:51, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Truth t, that article was deleted by community consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Albanian–Greek Border War. Having taken another look at that discussion, I am satisfied that I correctly interpreted the consensus it came to. So, I would not be willing to restore that article. Yogesh Bhardwaj
Hi, thanks for blocking Kapilbhardwajj for spamming about this Yogesh Bhardwaj character. I noticed on their talk page that someone had flagged up a possible socking connection to another user, Actoryogeshbhardwaj. I don't know if there's enough there to take it to SPI, but wanted to mention in case you see something I didn't. Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:25, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- DoubleGrazing, it certainly looks like a possibility to me, but that other account hasn't edited since April, so there's likely no technical data available as that's only retained for 90 days, and in any case if it's not actively editing I'm not too worried about it. If that account starts editing again, it certainly might be worth getting SPI to have a look at it, but if not, no use really spending any time on it. Regarding deletion of Draft:The Queer Trans Project
why would you delete my page instead of offering help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AGW8899 (talk • contribs) 19:07, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- AGW8899, the page was deleted for being promotional. If a page consists almost entirely of promotional content, as that one did, it is deleted under the G11 criterion for speedy deletion. Promotional activity, including any kind of advocacy or "talking up", is not permitted on Wikipedia. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:25, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- Quote the "talking up." this is a registered nonprofit with tremendous, documented achievements. I have already contacted an admin AGW8899 (talk) AGW8899 (talk) 21:35, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- I know you're contacting an admin, given that I am one. As to promotional content (some examples, but by no means an exhaustive list):
on a mission to create...
("mission" statements and the like are marketese; we care about what reliable and independent sources confirm an organization has actually done, not what it says its "mission" is),the organization aims to...
(see previous),has quickly emerged...
(don't editorialize; you can present verifiable facts as to time frames, but leave the reader to decide whether that qualifies as "quickly"),Fueled by a deep commitment
(it's not a vehicle, so it's not "fueled"; we use literal language, not metaphorical. And again, editorializing as to "deep commitment"),With a vision, a $500 grant from The Southern Equality Fund (SEF)[4], and a 2-bedroom apartment...
(the "with a vision" bit is totally inappropriate, and the source which supposedly supports the statement regarding the grant doesn't say anything about the organization at all),In a relatively short span, The Queer Trans Project[8] has achieved a remarkable impact.
(again, just present facts verified by reliable sources; leave the reader to decide whether a span is "short" or the things they've done are "remarkable"), and then there are a whole bunch of inappropriate external links (article text should contain no external links, though if the subject of an article has an official site, one link to that at the bottom of the article in an "External links" section is appropriate.) Like I said, these are some examples, but not by any means an exhaustive list of the promotional, "talking up" tone the whole article took.I note you said you're a volunteer with the organization. If you're used to doing "outreach" or the like for them, keep in mind you'll have to develop a very different style of writing on Wikipedia than you'd be used to when doing that kind of work. Articles must be strictly neutral, avoid any kind of puff adjectives ("prestigious", "meaningful", etc.), and stick to facts verified through reliable and independent source material. There's also the question of whether there should be an article about this subject at all. While that wasn't the reason for deletion, I wouldn't want to have you waste your time on something that has no hope of success. To be an appropriate subject for an article, there must be a substantial quantity of reliable, independent reference material available about that subject, which covers it to substantial depth (not just mentions or name drops), and in the case of organizations, that must meet the organization criteria as well. Most organizations don't pass these criteria, so while you can try again, I would advise you look at those first to see if your efforts are well placed. But if your goal is advocacy for the organization or its goals, that's not going to be allowed here—encyclopedia articles here are just to provide verifiable factual information in a neutral manner, not to encourage the reader to say, think, or do anything in particular. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:52, 22 August 2023 (UTC)- You could see on my talk page that I was working with multiple editors. "Yes. Wikipedia articles must be written very dry, without embellishment or promotional language, and should primarily summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Our experience is that organization representatives are usually too close to the organization to be able to write about it as is required. - yes... so is wiki? Other organizations have websites and wiki pages AGW8899 (talk) 22:12, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, some do. Many do not. The draft, as written, would have to have been rewritten from scratch anyway, the whole thing was puffery. (As to having a "problem with what your organization does", I personally think it sounds great—but whether an article is appropriate or not has nothing to do with my or any other editor's opinion of the merits of the article subject, just whether or not enough reference material is available to write a neutral and verifiable article.) I would be willing to provide you the references that it used if you'd like those, but the prose was genuinely unsalvageable. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:14, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

- None that great, it must be said, but a quick Google search immediately establishes notability. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 22:23, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- I think we got off on the wrong foot. So I apologize for being easily offended and on guard. I see the reasoning behind what you are looking for. I was seriously working with editors to get rid of the innapropiate language and links. Thank you for pointing out what can be fixed. One question, if you google the Queer Trans Project we have numerous articles and mentions popping up that we did not create. Wouldn't that establish notability? AGW8899 (talk) 23:31, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- Just mentions don't, but articles directly about the organization covering them in depth certainly might. Basically, each source used to establish notability must cover the subject in depth (not just mention or name-drop it), must meet the criteria for reliability, and must be independent of the organization (basically, not be published by any type of "partner" or someone in any other way affiliated with the organization; this criterion also excludes interviews, reprinted press releases, etc., since those are the organization talking about itself.) Sources that wouldn't count toward notability can still be used as supplemental material, but those baseline good-quality, in-depth, reliable, independent sources are necessary as a starting point.I certainly did not intend to imply that I don't think the organization is notable, and not that I do either; I don't know whether it is or not. Ultimately, if challenged, that would be decided by a community discussion. I just like to make sure people are aware that passing those criteria will ultimately be a requirement, as I don't want anyone to spend their time on something that won't in the end succeed. If you think you can establish notability, then cite the best, most reliable available sources. You don't have to do that right away; lack of demonstrated notability is not a reason a draft would be deleted, but it would have to be demonstrated before a reviewer would accept it for a move to mainspace. Also do keep in mind that it is not required for sources to be available online, just that they be published and available to the public in some form, so if it were covered in a print book or the like that may also be an acceptable reference. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:54, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

Also do keep in mind that it is not required for sources to be available online, just that they be published and available to the public in some form, so if it were covered in a print book or the like that may also be an acceptable reference. Cad Crowd
I am going to ask that you restore CAD Crowd to draft so it can be worked on.. though I think at very least this should have been closed as a no decision. Peopleperhour and Guru.com have much worse referenced pages and my argument on the sources having enough depth is plenty valid. There was no reason for him to take control of the argument and basically vote 3x . Thanks. Akikormin125 (talk) 16:32, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Akikormin125, I checked for anyone having !voted three times, and do not see that. I don't even know who you're referring to, but that didn't happen. Having taken another look at the discussion, I think my assessment was correct, and stand by it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:52, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Spirtingflyer decided to impose his opinion at least 3x and by my count the vote was 8-5 in my favor. How this closed with a NYTimes, calgary herald x2, edmonton journal, engineering.com x2, ieee, 2 book passages w more available in virtually any freelancing guide, and papers invluding an AI system built on its user base.. how that all doesny meet the quality of sources or corp depth when there are also tons of reviews and comparisons on the net. It was nominated by an acct w no history ar all which shouldnt be allowed either. If not, consider this the notice for deletion review as i feel there is a coi on the deleting side of the discussion. Thx Akikormin125 (talk) 17:05, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Feedback Request on Draft Deletion; "606 Autos" & "DNA PALAZIO"
Hi,
Please, I'd like to know what I can do better to get my publication suitable for Wikipedia. Felaadejumo (talk) 08:40, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Felaadejumo, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first clarify whether you are receiving pay or other compensation to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to edit Wikipedia as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:19, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your response@Seraphimblade. I am not particularly paid to edit Wikipedia. I am trying to improve the Branding and PR of my employer. I just recently got a role as the PR and social media manager, and I'm on a quest to prove my competence to the team, so I thought creating a Wikipedia page about the business and the owner would help in that endeavor. It is not in any way part of my job description, but it's something I would like to learn how to do and utilize in adherence to the rules and guidelines that bind the Wikipedia writing and editing community.
- If this is also considered a paid job, I am willing to be guided accordingly.
- Thanks again, and I await your response. Felaadejumo (talk) 14:58, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
- What you are describing is indeed paid editing. That's not forbidden, but it must be disclosed. I linked to the instructions for how to make those disclosures above. That said, Wikipedia is not for any type of "branding" or "PR" type activity, and that won't be permitted. Most companies aren't suitable subjects for articles at all (you can see the guidelines for that here), and even for those which are, the articles about them must stick strictly to neutrally presenting facts confirmed by reliable and independent sources. We're not at all interested in any kind of "talking up" or what the company says about itself. No fluff adjectives (as some examples from your prior drafts: "high-quality", "vibrant", "electrifying", "unique and immersive", etc.). Articles must be strictly neutral in both tone and content, and not in any way "talk up" their subject. If that's your goal, it won't be permitted here; you'd use your company's own website for things like that. If you did want to write articles here, you would have to get used to writing in a very different way than you do when you're writing marketing type material. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:53, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks again. Once I disclose that its a paid article, Can I rewrite it and post tit o you for review first? Felaadejumo (talk) 11:36, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- No, I'm not a personal review service to skip to the head of the review queue. You would use the normal articles for creation process. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:11, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Re: Deletion of Page - Massimo Vidoni (AKA The Truffleman)
Hi @Seraphimblade, requesting your feedback and a review of the page you recently deleted - Massimo Vidoni AKA The Truffleman. I reviewed it multiple times to ensure that it was factual and avoided promotional content. In case anything was missed I'd really appreciate your guidance on how I can edit it. I intended it to be an article about an entrepreneur of note in my city with whom I have no direct or working relation.
Thanks in advance! Nanwikieditor01 (talk) 09:24, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Nanwikieditor01, if you have "no direct or working relation" with this individual, could you please explain how you got access to this and this close-up, clearly posed photo, from what your upload states is someone's "personal archive"? I'm afraid that doesn't add up. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:48, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Seraphimblade, thanks for getting back to me. The posed photo is from the brand website and photographed by the subject's wife. I reached out to obtain permissions and got the other picture. Would it help if I can provide some kind of letter to confirm that I have the permission to use these images?
- Thank you Nanwikieditor01 (talk) 12:44, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Well, to commons:COM:VRT, yes it would. If they're on a website, and that site doesn't confirm the license, they're likely to be deleted unless the copyright holder provides confirmation that they're willing to license under CC-BY-SA. So far as the rest, it's absolutely full of puffery and editorializing. As some examples (but by no means an exhaustive list):
significant contributions
(let the reader decide significance, don't "lead" them to a conclusion on it),embarked on his journey into the world of truffles
(don't use fluffy, metaphorical language like that—if that's when he started the business, just say that's when he started the business),swiftly gained acclaim
("acclaim" by whom, confirmed by what source? And again, provide a time frame and let the reader determine if that's "swiftly"),distinguished culinary figures
(omit puff terms like "distinguished"), and on and on like that. Articles should stick to neutrally presenting facts which are verified by reliable and independent sources. Leave it to the reader to determine what is significant, notable, distinguished, swift, or anything else like that; don't tell them what to conclude about it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:54, 8 September 2023 (UTC)- Alright @Seraphimblade, noted. This is the first full article I'm posting so I really appreciate the guidance and insight. Would it be possible to restore the article so that I can bring it back to my sandbox and edit it? If you don't mind, I'll share the sandbox version with you here for your feedback before reposting?
- Thank you for your input once again! Nanwikieditor01 (talk) 13:08, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- I do not restore advertisements, as when deleted, they essentially require a full rewrite. However, if you would like, I can give you a list of the sources that were used in it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:30, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, alright @Seraphimblade, no worries. I have the sources used. I'll also be sure to use images that are available for use from other publications with citations rather than directly from the subject or website. Would you open to reviewing the article before I post it again?
- Thanks in advance! Nanwikieditor01 (talk) 13:53, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Seraphimblade. I noted your close of the above-mentioned AFD and I appreciate your work in a very-unappreciated area of adminship, but I think you might have evaluated that AFD wrong. If you wish, I will discuss further here, but for now, it is late for me and I don't have the bandwidth to make a full argument, but I'd appreciate it if you'd take a second look at it, in light of my comment, to decide whether you are confident that the appropriate close has been reached. I'll watch this page for now, so you can respond here, or on my talk page if you prefer, and if you take another look at it and don't see a problem, I can elaborate further. Thank you! RecycledPixels (talk) 07:29, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- RecycledPixels, I took another look. The discussion had plenty of participation, the arguments made were reasonable and policy-based, and while you argued to keep, you were the only one, and two editors who commented after you weren't convinced by it. I don't believe at this point there would be anything you could say that would change my view on how that should be closed, and I entirely stand behind it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 08:01, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I won't bore you with any details, then. RecycledPixels (talk) 14:48, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, can you consider restarting the discussion? I feel that there was no strong for keeping the article, especially nobody seemed to refute WP:CFORK argument, and the fact that the topic isn't a standalone one in WP:RS. Marcelus (talk) 19:19, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- Marcelus, I had another look. One editor specifically disagreed with the "content fork" argument, and the others argued generally for its appropriateness with the exception of one merge proposal. Given that, the consensus was to keep the article, so I will not reopen the discussion. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:40, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- But you need to weight those arguments, none of them proved that we are not dealing with a fork. What's more, the discussion was very short, lasted only two weeks. Marcelus (talk) 10:43, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- I did so during the close. The answer to your request was "no", and will remain no. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:09, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Tater Tot (cat)
As for merge, some of the material and sources in the deleted article might be worth using to expand Tater Tot's entry at List of individual cats#On the Internet, if the entry's isn't already perfectly sufficient. I don't really remember the article details much. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 09:22, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- There's not a great deal more there, but there is some regarding the organizations that were involved and the like. If you want to merge some of that stuff, let me know and I'll do a history restore. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:49, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, please do restore for merge. SMcandlish's redirect/merge target is fine, and we can comfortably adjust the target as an editorial decision if needed. I hadn't heard of this topic prior to the AfD but if necessary, I will do the merge. I'll give @SMcCandlish and others a chance to do so first.
- Would you consider noting this in an update to your close? I appreciate you taking on a difficult close that involved brand new editors arriving from offwiki. Now that we have some more movement on a merge, I think reflecting that in the close would be helpful for future editors. —siroχo 23:56, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- If it's easiest, you can just WP:REFUND it to User:SMcCandlish/Incubator/Tater Tot (cat). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:58, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- I've just put it back at Tater Tot (cat) and redirected to list of individual cats#On the Internet. I think having the redirect to that makes sense if you plan to merge things in from it. The history's now undeleted, so you can take whatever you need from it. And no, I don't alter closes after the fact—the close should be an accurate record of the result at the time, no matter what happened later. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:09, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Economy of Things
Hiya. See you moved Economy of Things to draft, which is fine as it happens. I marked it for G11 because it is a concept purely coined by IBM and marketed by the company as 'thought leadership'. It is quite literally an idea with a sole commercial purpose. Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 07:03, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

List of hobbies page
Hello, I would like you to please undelete the page 'List of hobbies,' if you would be so kind. Thank you. CarlosR0023 (talk) 18:58, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- CarlosR0023, you will need to provide a reason. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:03, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, the reason is because I want to create a hobbies blog, and I would like to see the complete list of hobbies to get an idea of which hobbies to write about on my page. CarlosR0023 (talk) 19:10, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, your blog is not a valid reason to overturn a consensus decision. There are other articles on Wikipedia with information on hobbies, and of course the references they cite will as well; you could start with hobby itself. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:13, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Please undelete the List of Hobbies page. While its structure is far from ideal, it is an indispensable index to the myriad of leisure time activities documented through wikis. I've been incorporating the list into a higher level organization based on the American Time Use Survey (ATUS). In fact, the page would benefit from being restructured through something like the ATUS Activity Coding Lexicon, but currently the compiled work is inaccessible - a real loss to any future improvement of a valuable resource. I would be happy to share some of my vision for using this page if only to just get a snapshot of the last version. Discovering the list to be missing is a shock to my plans for future use. Thank you LeisureTree (talk) 23:48, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

This is being incorporated into the analytic/reference work at http://thegooddays.org this is not a blog. Can you kindly tell me how to obtain a copy of the original page as to capture the last index of hobbies? LeisureTree (talk) 00:21, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Well...I'm not sure I buy that, but I'll take your word. If you just want some particular points of information out of the article, I could probably give you those, if you can tell me what they are. I won't provide the full text, since then if someone copies it somewhere, we'd be violating the "BY" requirement of CC-BY-SA, but plain facts are not eligible for copyright so I don't mind giving those. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:25, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- It would be terrific if you could userfy the article to give me a chance to cleanup nonexistent dependencies and reformat valuable content into a sustainable index of leisure time activities. This is something I've aspired to do but was afraid to disrupt the existing page. The ATUS activity coding structure would provide a framework for making a more useful and credible article. Thanks for your consideration. LeisureTree (talk) 01:16, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Provision of the text is a hard no. I have already said what I would do, so you can take that or not, at your option. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:30, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft: Lasse Schulz
Hello, my article was draftified earlier by you?, due to inadequate notability. There is now one new reference which I added to the draft. It is behind pay wall but it is a story of the person in question in a local paper, which can be seen from the insert too. What do you think? Syvä-äksy (talk) 12:44, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Syvä-äksy, as I cannot view the full article, I cannot develop an opinion as to how substantive it is, and that was the primary objection at AfD. The byline information certainly does make it look like it might be more substantial than what was there before, but then of course a single significant source does not demonstrate notability. You might want to ask the opinion of the editors who argued at the AfD to move to draft whether that would satisfy their concerns. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:53, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks Syvä-äksy (talk) 14:58, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
AfD !input casted after 7 days
Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Students_for_Sensible_Drug_Policy If inputs are made placed after 168 hours before an admin got around to close it, are those considered admissible in determination? Inputs were placed significantly after 168 hours, then it got non-admin relisted. Graywalls (talk) 05:51, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- Graywalls, as long as an AfD remains open, people remain welcome to comment on it. Comments do not become invalid after some particular time, though of course if someone's working on a close at the same time someone comments, it is always possible that person may not see the comment. But if they do, it still "counts" the same as any other. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:57, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Thank you for your work at Afd. You closed this Afd as Delete. May I ask why? Would you consider relisting/closing as redirect, after all? (Not sure what you meant when you said it could be discussed or done later) You have 3 redirect !votes (2 presenting sources, including a passing mention in the NYT). The fact that the festival may be defunct is, in my view, not an extremely strong argument for deletion.Thank you. Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 11:49, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- Mushy Yank, if you believe it should be a redirect, you can always create one, or discuss doing so with the other editors involved there. However, since that was disputed during the AfD, I will not change the result to that, nor reopen the discussion. Just make the redirect, and if anyone objects, discuss it with them at that point. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:34, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. I will recreate the page as redirect, then. Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 13:37, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

Requesting undeletion of Crush Crush
Hello, I would like to request undeletion of this Crush Crush page: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crush Crush. I would also like to be up front that I have a conflict of interest, as I work at Sad Panda Studios (and have the disclosure on my user page). I was unable to participate in the deletion discussion because I was out of the country at the time, and am just catching up now.
All votes were "weak", and I'd like to add some additional context that will hopefully swing the result to "keep". Crush Crush has been played by more than 10 million people and is actively maintained and played by 10s of thousands of daily active users. I do not believe we need to lean on the game being a series for this page to warrant existence on wikipedia (and the article didn't do so). It is also my personal opinion that Crush Crush (and Sad Panda Studios) finds it difficult to get main stream media attention due to the inclusion of adult content in some versions of the game, which may account for why it is difficult to find many articles about it (even though we referenced at least 2 and during the deletion discussion more reviews/articles were found).
Some numbers for you that will hopefully prove that Crush Crush can stand on its own and be included in wikipedia. Over 2 million unique installs on Google Play, over 2 million unique installs on Steam, over 4 million players on web, over 10 million total players, licensed with Nintendo for development on Nintendo Switch, over 34k followers on X and 10s of thousands of daily active players right now. We've been featured, on pcgamer, out of all anime games on the market, as recently as 2023 in a list of games they recommend: https://www.pcgamer.com/the-best-anime-games-on-pc/ and we've been doing this since 2016. We have staying power, we've got users, and I believe we should have a wikipedia page.
Lastly, the deletion of the Crush Crush harms our company. At a certain size, other companies and partners start to expect that we have certain things. For example, an active X account is simply expected. Similarly, a wikipedia page is expected. I understand that wikipedia doesn't exist for B2B reasons, but this is the reality we live in. So I hope you will carefully consider this and understand that we're a small business with a successful game who believe that a small entry about our game on wikipedia is deserving. Thanks Giawa (talk) 19:34, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Giawa, well, while I appreciate you stating your conflict of interest, I note you haven't been actually doing as COI editors should, and were instead directly editing the article for which you have a COI, not to mention created it directly in mainspace, which COI editors also should not do. As you might imagine, I'm not thrilled to see that, and for any future material on your company or anything it produces, that will need to stop happening. That aside, though, is the question of whether this subject is an appropriate one for an article. Like I said when closing the AfD, even the editors who argued to keep (and weren't much convinced to at that) were more discussing the series that this game is part of, rather than the individual game, so it looks like it might be more appropriate to have an article about that than individual games in it.Popularity is irrelevant to notability, so no, nothing you said there makes a bit of difference as that goes. I did take another look at the discussion, and I believe I interpreted it correctly, so I will not alter the result. I will note that Wikipedia is not censored, so being "adult" has nothing to do with whether we'd have an article on a subject; we have articles on many "adult content" type topics. Rather, the question is whether there's enough source material about this subject (not something related to it) to merit an article, and the consensus seems to be that there's some, but it hasn't cleared that bar yet. It looks like, rather, the consensus is that the coverage seems to cover the series as a whole, rather than individual games, so that's probably where any article should focus. Which one is better for your company is, to be frank, not something that matters a bit (and "expecting" Wikipedia articles is rather silly—there are companies I'm sure are substantially larger than yours which wouldn't be appropriate for one, let alone individual products made by them). It could of course also be that if the game remains popular, more source material will be written specifically about it in the future, so it could one day be appropriate for an article of its own. But the consensus at that discussion was that it isn't as of right now. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:22, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Requesting undeletion of List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada
Hi!
Wanted to request undeletion of the following page whose debate you recently closed: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada (2nd nomination).
This deletion request was part of a larger effort to delete three pages, Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada and List of Israeli civilian casualties in the Second Intifada. The deletion requests were made predominantly on WP:NOTAMEMORIAL grounds, , a significant amount of clean-up needed, and an insistence that these events were well covered on the main Conflict Timeline page. I (and other editors) insisted on the importance of detailed information pertaining to a unique conflict, and set about cleaning up and editing the pages to address other concerns.
The other two pages are still active (and are still in progress of being cleaned up, memorial issues have already been addressed), but now without the Palestinian civilian casualties page, the entire section has been hobbled.
As you can see, the debate was closed on the deletion request on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada. There was far more debate on this page, and the editor felt that consensus was not achieved (at least on the threshold usually afforded contentious topics).
Humbly requesting that the Palestinian civilian casualty page be restored so work may proceed as originally outlined, and also further debate on the matter be applied before consensus is reach if this page is truly meant to be deleted. Mistamystery (talk) 18:19, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- Mistamystery, I reviewed the discussion, and I continue to think my interpretation of its consensus was correct. As such, I am afraid I will decline your request. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:26, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

- That is who chose to participate. The AfD notice was properly placed on the article, so anyone who wanted to weigh in had the chance to do so and knew that the discussion was going on. And of course, any general participants who just monitor AfD could have done so as well. The consensus was clear, and remains so. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:33, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- I have raised a discussion about the NPOV issues raised by the split AfD, the divergent voting between different discussions and the deletion of one list but not the other two at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard#Second Intifada casualty lists. You naturally may wish to participate. Iskandar323 (talk) 08:02, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Tegus (corporation) page removal
Hey - I received the note that this page was flagged for removal but it was taken down before I was able to make the required changes. It was my first wikipedia article so I think some of the content was written from a non-neutral point of view, but I have updated the article copy and sources. Is it possible to undelete the page so I can update the content and sources? Example of updated content below:
Tegus is a financial information services company, founded in 2017, that specializes in providing investment professionals with primary research and insights. The company has been the subject of various acquisitions and has expanded its product offerings since its inception.
I have also made sure to remove any links to PRnewswire and replaced them with more reputable institutions like chicago.gov and RTE.ie. Let me know your thoughts on next steps, appreciate it! SGM321 (talk) 10:43, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

- Thanks for doing that. Then, firstly, you will need to follow the conflict of interest requirements. For creation of a new article, do not attempt to create it directly in mainspace, as you did last time. Rather, paid editors should create new articles as a draft and request review via articles for creation, so that it can be reviewed by someone without a conflict of interest. If you intend to try it again, please ensure that you do that next time. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:59, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Chris Bell AfD query
At the Chris Bell AfD you say: "that applies when the material in the BLP presents the subject inaccurately". I'm not familiar with that condition (and I'd hope we'd remove any inaccurate information from a BLP without the need for AfD!). I'm curious what policy/guideline you're referencing with that statement. Thanks, Hobit (talk) 00:04, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- That generally applies with a "false light" type scenario, where a person is well known for one event, with little else known about them. Even if, say, it were technically true that a person had been arrested for DUI, if that's all that had ever really been written about them, we shouldn't have a biography saying "John Doe is a drunk driver" and really nothing else. That, however, was disputed in the case of Bell, and it was substantially argued that this is not a "one event" type scenario like that. In the end, there was not a consensus on what to do with the article, and that defaults to retaining it absent extraordinary circumstances. This was not such an extraordinary case. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:27, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think that's the case. WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE (or WP:BIODEL) doesn't say anything about either one event or being cast in a false light. It does say "Discussions concerning biographical articles of relatively unknown, non-public figures, where the subject has requested deletion and there is no clear consensus to keep may be closed as delete." Now, that's may, and you can choose to not do so. But I don't think your reasoning here reflects policy or guidelines. And even though I get the sense he's playing us to some extent, I do think deletion is both allowed here and meets the letter and spirit of the relevant policy. Hobit (talk) 01:07, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- I understand you think that. However, I took another look at the discussion, and do not think my understanding of the consensus there was erroneous, so I will not change it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:20, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with this close (I was thinking of closing the discussion along the same lines myself), and endorse it. Cheers! BD2412 T 03:50, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'm good with you not changing the result, but let me ask directly: where do you see in policy or guidelines that something being seen in a false light is related to this? I'm genuinely unsure what you're referring to. Could you quote wherever it is you're seeing that? Or is it just something you feel should be policy? Hobit (talk) 20:38, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- You asked that above. I already gave what answer I planned to. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:43, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. I do think this was closed incorrectly so I've opened a DRV. [15]. Hobit (talk) 00:00, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

- It was created by an editor who was evading a block. Generally speaking, contributions from editors who are evading a block and/or ban are reverted or, in the case of page creations (unless other editors substantially contributed, which wasn't true here) deleted. It's almost certain that this editor was also violating our policies regarding editing for pay and the requirements to disclose that, as well as conflict of interest. If you state you're the individual in question, I don't of course have any way to know if you were somehow encouraging that—if you did, I would suggest you stop doing that. Relisting of Coco Lee (Exposed)
I just wanted to say surprised at the relisting. It's not something I'm highly invested in, but the article was substantially revised. We've got one redirect that was prior to the revisions, and everyone since then (other than the nominator) ended up at keep, 3/4 were policy-based.
It's a judgment call, and I know I'm second-guessing, but it was a bit disappointing considering the work that was done to retain the article. I guess we'll go another week, unless you want to reconsider. Oblivy (talk) 08:59, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- No, I'm afraid not. Right now it seems to be leaning keep, but not so definitively I think another week's worth of discussion will hurt. If you're worried the outcome could change with a relist, well, that probably means additional discussion was the right call, and if you're not, then a bit more time on it won't hurt. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:18, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- I can see your point, but in the absence of support for deleting in the current state that it seems pointless to relist it. And because there's always a risk someone will take up the argument for deletion, people advocating for the article have to keep vigilant for another week. So it's not cost-free even if it's a defensible call to relist. Oblivy (talk) 06:33, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- I was going to say the same thing. How long should it normally take? Vacosea (talk) 16:59, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada
Hello Seraphimblade, Id like to start by saying at no point do I find any fault with any part of what you did here, but I have some concerns about the effect. You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada (2nd nomination) as a delete for only List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada, leaving List of Israeli civilian casualties in the Second Intifada and Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada, both nominated alongside List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada, unaddressed. Star Mississippi, who I also find no fault in with their actions, later closed both Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Israeli civilian casualties in the Second Intifada as no consensus. Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada had previously transcluded the List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada in the section on Palestinian casualties. What we are left with now is a deleted List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada, a remaining List of Israeli civilian casualties in the Second Intifada that is also duplicated at Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada, and a failed transclusion of Palestinian civilian casualties at Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada. Im at a loss at what procedural option there is to pursue here, but I find Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada to now be blatantly non-neutral, and restoring the contents of List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada to that article would violate the deletion discussion decision as well as the attribution requirements. I would have said I could appeal the deletion decision at DRV to argue all three should have been deleted in the original AFD, but given the later nominations and closings as no consensus I dont know how that would work either. Do you have any advice on what to do from here with this situation as it stands now? nableezy - 22:38, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note @Nableezy. This is complex indeed. I do think that any extant list should include both Israeli and Palestianian casualties as if one side's casualties are notable, both sides should be. (Using side here for simplicity, I know it's far more complex). re: DRV, I think world events are going to be an issue in terms of consensus. Happy to have "my" closes brought there though to see if we can attain the same close as, to your point, that would make sense. I do wonder though if Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Palestinian civilian casualties in the Second Intifada (2nd nomination) had been re listed and run over the events of 7-8 October, a consensus would have been reached. There is potential that a N/C there has it restored and all three are transcluded. I'm also going to leave @Liz a note as well to see if she recalls another recent discussion where there was transcluded content. It's not in my contribs because I recall looking at it and thinking while it appeared to have consensus, I had no idea how to enact it, so I didn't close it.
- Hope this helps some. Star Mississippi 00:14, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- The problem with DRV is I think each individual decision, taken by itself, is defensible, and if I were voting, again looking at each thing separately, I cant see how the vote would be overturn. I dont know how Id avoid the WP:WAX counter-argument, even if the result of these three parts combined is a glaringly obvious issue. I dont think the two closes you made could be overturned, I dont see a consensus to delete there. And since they had more participation than the original I dont see how that one could overturn those two. And I dont see how the original delete would be overturned either, that seems to have a solid backing even if it has minimal participation, but if one were to go to DRV I think it would have to be that one with the intention of overturning it to no consensus and a renomination of all 3. But, again, I dont think that is going to really fly. nableezy - 01:27, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Well...I would guess it doesn't. It is, like you said, other stuff exists. Articles are evaluated for neutrality based upon their coverage of their particular subject, not an article's existence on another one, and sometimes one subject is notable while a similar-seeming one is not. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:54, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- But this particular deletion led to the imbalancing of another article, the Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada. Beyond that, I see that he opened three separate deletion discussions when saying he was nominating all three, shouldnt they have been instead been a multi article nomination? And do you really think this is just "similar seeming"? nableezy - 04:23, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Articles shouldn't generally be transcluding other articles; I don't know why on Earth that's getting done there. But someone's poor practice in a different article has nothing to do with what decision a deletion discussion came to. Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:35, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Given the sweeping imbalance that the multi-AfD debacle has introduced - a huge tilt in content in a manner that quite clearly violates the principle of WP:NPOV, it might be time for someones to channel WP:IAR. At the very least, the material that was transcluded from the now deleted page to the main civilian casualties page could be merged to there. Iskandar323 (talk) 06:04, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think there was a multiple at one point, and @Liz recalls closing another (User_talk:Liz#User_talk:Seraphimblade#Civilian_casualties_in_the_Second_Intifada)
- There are a ton of issues with Civilian casualties in the Second Intifada, namely that while there are some notable ones (i.e. Rachel Corrie), this should not be an index of everyone who died in every event. If I were looking at these articles as a reader, I'd expect Civilian casualties to be neither Israeli nor Palestinian, but other nationalities, non stated people.
- I'm not sure how we accomplish that, unfortunately. Star Mississippi 13:07, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- I still want Palestinian Casualties restored so it can be cleaned up to standard, and the entire three article problem corrected. Seraphimblade, I previously requested an undeletion of the page, and would most certainly like to request the undeletion again to at least give the page a college try. Mistamystery (talk) 07:50, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- You already asked that, and already received the answer. It won't change by repeating the request. Seraphimblade Talk to me 08:17, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- This sounds like a logjam then. There is a fundamental senselessness persisting here to having three interconnected pages, with two active and one deleted, therefore hobbling the other pages (which were restored and their deletion requests denied). Appreciate advice on how to break the logjam - bring in an involved admin perhaps? Or the admins who preserved the other two pages? Or are they here already? Mistamystery (talk) 20:48, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- I don't want to speak for them, but I believe the "logjam" is a part of why @Nableezy opened the DRV. There was no apparent solution without broader discussion and more eyes than a user talk. (Involved, closer of Israeli casualty AfDs). Star Mississippi 23:23, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

I opened a deletion review at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2023_October_27#List_of_Palestinian_casualties_in_the_Second_Intifada, pinging Star Mississippi as their AfDs are raised there as well. nableezy - 16:11, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive
Hello Seraphimblade:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
Open krunker.io to page creation
Hello,
I would like to open a page for krunker.io but it seems to be locked as of 2021 for " protected Krunker.io [Create=Require administrator access] (indefinite)". I'm not quite sure why the page is deleted and locked, but krunker.io should meet all the criteria for its own page. Is it possible to re-open this page to allow users to contribute accurate information? If not, what are the reservations to opening this page and what are our possible solutions?Thank you KR highnoon (talk) 01:39, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – November 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (October 2023).
Interface administrator changes
- The WMF is working on making it possible for administrators to edit MediaWiki configuration directly. This is similar to previous work on Special:EditGrowthConfig. A technical RfC is running until November 08, where you can provide feedback.
- There is a proposed plan for re-enabling the Graph Extension. Feedback on this proposal is requested.
- Eligible editors are invited to self-nominate themselves from 12 November 2023 until 21 November 2023 to stand in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections.
- Xaosflux, RoySmith and Cyberpower678 have been appointed to the Electoral Commission for the 2023 Arbitration Committee Elections. BusterD is the reserve commissioner.
- Following a motion, the contentious topic designation of Prem Rawat has been struck. Actions previously taken using this contentious topic designation are still in force.
- Following several motions, multiple topic areas are no longer designated as a contentious topic. These contentious topic designations were from the Editor conduct in e-cigs articles, Liancourt Rocks, Longevity, Medicine, September 11 conspiracy theories, and Shakespeare authorship question cases.
- Following a motion, remedies 3.1 (All related articles under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned), 6 (Stalemate resolution) and 30 (Administrative supervision) of the Macedonia 2 case have been rescinded.
- Following a motion, remedy 6 (One-revert rule) of the The Troubles case has been amended.
- An arbitration case named Industrial agriculture has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case close 8 November.
- The Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in November 2023, with 700+ drafts pending reviews for in the last 4 months or so. In addition to the AfC participants, all administrators and New Page Patrollers can conduct reviews using the helper script, Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings. I tried my best to make the page neutral and was willing to do adjustments if necessary, there was no need to delete everything like that, I always put a lot of effort in my edits. Can I have a draft of the page back at least? GustavoCza (talk • contribs) 12:03, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- GustavoCza, promotional material is not permitted on Wikipedia, and is indeed subject to speedy deletion. I do not restore advertisements to draft or otherwise, but if you think you could write a new article in a neutral manner, would give you a list of the references that were present in the deleted article if you would like them. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:23, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- I managed to retrieve the article's material from one of my sandboxes already. What I really need to know right now is what parts of it are in promotional manner so I can change it. Do you mind helping me? GustavoCza (talk • contribs) 18:00, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- Firstly, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please clarify whether you are being paid or otherwise compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If that is so, you will need to make the mandatory disclosures before editing further. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:06, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- No, I'm just obsessed with Coldplay. The brand was founded by their bassist Guy Berryman. GustavoCza (talk • contribs) 19:15, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- Well, I would tend to buy that, I suppose; fan editing can sometimes get quite as bad as actual paid editing. Certainly, Coldplay is a well known band and I'm familiar with them. That said, though, an article about one of their member's efforts would need to rely on reliable and independent sources. We've got a problem literally from the title; the unneeded "(brand)" disambiguation is a hallmark of "SEO" style spamming. There is no conflicting article at Applied Art Forms, so if there were to be an article about this subject, it would go there, not with some unnecessary parenthetical. Disambiguation is only used when it is actually necessary. Getting past there, I think a main source of the problem is the sources used. Several, for example this one ([16]), are interviews, which are not independent sources; that's the subject talking about themself. They are of course going to talk themself up in such a case (and no one could blame them, really), but that's also why they really aren't great references. Rather, articles should be based upon independent sources. That seems to be the first four sources. Then, on source five, we start with editorials ([17]), easily identified in that case by the statement containing "...in our opinion...". That clearly flags up an op-ed. Again, not particularly reliable. Next is another interview, and then more op-eds, and while I'm not going to exhaustively check, that is not the type of sourcing that's appropriate or establishes notability. That leads to inappropriate material like
Influenced by his father, Berryman developed a passion
("became interested in", not "developed a passion", if indeed that should be included at all), more interview-based stuff after that which would need omitting, a citation to its terms of service for some "Ratino Limited" thing (if no independent source found that significant, it doesn't bear mention in the article either), and the rest of it is just on and on like that, with completely inappropriate puff breathless prose and unneeded adjectives "sourced" to editorials and interviews. If there's no better source material about this subject available, we shouldn't have an article about it. If there actually is some objectively written material free of breathlessness and interviews about it, use that as your source material, not anything you were using there, and summarize it in a neutral tone minus the adjectives and "talking up" phrasing. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:13, 9 November 2023 (UTC)- I used the "(brand)" disambiguation so it doesn't get confused with Applied arts. You do have a point on independent sources, so I guess I will wait until more of them become available before creating this page again. Other than that, I have no reason to lie to you, I have been consistently doing work on the band's pages on Wikipedia, some of which have been certified as Good and Featured. GustavoCza (talk • contribs) 03:50, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Re AE
Hi, Seraphimblade. Did you intend to log the warning to Infinity Knight? Bishonen | tålk 09:37, 12 November 2023 (UTC).
- Bishonen, no, I did not. It was more of a standard administrative "You're heading in a bad direction, better change course pretty quick" warning than a formal AE type one. The editor has already been topic banned from the area, so a logged warning seems a bit silly and redundant. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:44, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Dear Seraphimblade,
You closed the discussion on Car speed and energy consumption on December 5, 2023. I would have liked to participate further in this discussion, as i was the main author.
- Was there a specific deadline for closing this discussion that i apparently am not aware of?
The whole affair was rash, from hasty nomination for deletion (at "AfD") after only one day of initial discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Physics#And_while_we’re_on_the_topic_of_essay-like_articles… to closing of the discussion, is that correct? Some arguments are missing out. Thank you, Hansmuller (talk) 11:37, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hansmuller, an AfD may be closed at any time after it has been open for at least seven days. The discussion in question was open for well over that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:38, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- How could i have known that? Thanks, Hansmuller (talk) 11:40, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Right on WP:AFD, it states:
A deletion discussion should normally be allowed to run for seven full days (168 hours).
. So, that's certainly there to read, had you done so. Regardless, you certainly had your chance to participate, and your arguments did not in the end convince other participants, so the result turned out as it did. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:42, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

An appeal for deletion of my page Gondwana Ecotours
Dear Sir, am sad that the page I created was nominated and deleted for the reason of promotional content! and yeah I believe promotional contents should not be allowed! I believe the subject I created was notable enough to be mentioned on Wikipedia though it had issues in the eyes of you professional encyclopedic peoples. Now I re-created the page in my own personal sand box assuming I did my best the subject to be as neutral as possible to be! Please have a look at it and decide if it is still promotional and thanks for your time and have a mercy on me if I am not following the proper procedures! The link is hereUser:Gedbesasa/Gondwanatours Gedbesasa (talk) 13:16, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Gedbesasa, as you clearly have some financial stake in this matter (including being asked or expected to edit as part of the duties of employment or internship), you will need to make the required disclosures prior to editing or discussing further. - Hello dear admin, honestly speaking I wrote the article for just to get proud of contributing on encyclopedia and I used my real first name. And I do not have any financial gain or anything related to the subject. I do not know if it is a problem, I was just a member of the tour that Gondwana Ecotours prepared to Rwanda. I have never been with them than that time Gedbesasa (talk) 13:24, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Gaby Jallo AFD
I don't agree with the analysis of the sources by others which you seem to have relied upon, and neither did a lot of other editors, so please can you restore and draftify instead? GiantSnowman 13:00, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- GiantSnowman, having taken another look at the AfD, even many arguing to keep seem to agree that each source is relatively thin, and the consensus is to delete. Given this, I believe I interpreted the consensus correctly and stand by my decision. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:14, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- That's fine. Will you draftify or not? GiantSnowman 14:23, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what a draftification is intended to do? Have you found some additional sources or something, or what's the intent behind that? Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:54, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- It would allow editors to further expand and improve the article and show notability. I am unsure why you are being so difficult about this. It is a standard ATD and an uncontroversial request. GiantSnowman 09:19, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- I am being "difficult" about this because I want to ensure it does not just go back to mainspace without addressing the concerns, which is a dearth of sourcing. Since you are unwilling to straightforwardly answer whether you can correct that, I will just decline to do that then. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:28, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- At no point have I said that it will be moved to mainspace. In fact, I said we need to "show notability" i.e. improve in draft and then get consensus to move. It if was moved to mainspace, it could be G4ed. I ask that you please re-consider before I raise at DRV, which seems like a waste of everybody's time. GiantSnowman 09:50, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- That depends on the answer to a couple simple questions: Are more sources available than the ones evaluated at the AfD? If so, what are they? If that's a "yes", then sure, I'll draftify it. If no, the waste of time would be to do that, since those sources have already been found insufficient. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:53, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- The answer is 'I'm not sure', as I haven't checked yet - but probably, yes. In any event, does it matter? We have found sources, there was disagreement over whether they are SIGCOV or not, so let us use the sources to improve the article and demonstrate the significant coverage. Unless, of course, you have reviewed the sources yourself and decided they are not SIGCOV, in which case that would be a SUPERVOTE. GiantSnowman 10:00, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

Clemente
Hello there!
I noticed you closed this Afd as "keep". Given that nobody from WikiProject Baseball has input on this page (and this was a recreation of a previous delete), can you please reopen and relist Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Legacy of Roberto Clemente? Omnis Scientia (talk) 09:28, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Omnis Scientia, it is not required that anyone from any WikiProject comment on any AfD; they may do so or not while it is open, and the AfD ran for the requisite length of time. As such, no, I will not do that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:45, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade, fair enough. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated. Omnis Scientia (talk) 10:51, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I might question why Legacy of Jackie Robinson is red, but that's a separate issue from the result of one AfD. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:57, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Indeed you're right. I can say the same about numerous other athletes (baseball and non-baseball) - and it was partly why I thought Clemente's page an odd creation - and numerous notable people in general (Martin Luther King doesn't have such a page, for example). Deletion Review for Pleng Chan
Hello, @Seraphimblade I am so sorry if my writing style make you feel bias on some point of view. Yet I still believe that this organization is notable and pure to be on Wikipedia. Please kindly let me know which paragraph have been considered as advertising. I think I tried to write based on all the references from reliable sources with neutral word of choice. For some reasons, I think this page is still clean and should have been edited the writing style since English is not my first language. Also, this page has been reviewed and assessed as Start-Class. I hope you can help check to expand more wiki from Cambodia, since we have less articles on Wikipedia compared to other countries. I do want to help and see more information from Cambodia is heard to the world through Wikipedia. Bxrxbx (talk) 08:08, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Bxrxbx, I think you will need to review what is expected of a reliable source. For example, this blog ([19]) is not an appropriate or acceptable source for an astonishing claim such as
Pleng Chan has been recognized as one of the best café designs in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
(Or, for that matter, for much of anything.) Similarly, this ([20]) is used to supportPleng Chan Coffee and Eatery has been known as the first Cambodian coffee shop to use Cambodian arts such as the traditional Cambodian clay cup to serve customers in 2017.
While I'm using machine translation on that, so it's possible something was dropped in that process, I don't see anything in that reference that confirms the claim of being the "first" to do that (and that aside, the whole thing is rather fluff). Right after that, another "is known for..." (Pleng Chan is also known for its Cambodian cuisine and Cambodian fusion cuisine.
That's weasel wording. "Known" by whom, according to whom? So, it's possible this might be notable (though not certain, if the sources I checked there are the best available, that's not good news on that note), but the article must stick to facts confirmed by reliable sources, and avoid weaselly "known for" and the like. Also, as you are being paid to edit on this subject, you will need to review the conflict of interest guidelines. You did go through the draft and articles for creation process, which is correct for a paid editor (the article shouldn't have been accepted as it was at the time, but that's not your fault), but you will need to follow the conflict of interest guidelines thereafter as well. Specifically, if you wish to edit an article which is already in mainspace and which you are being paid to edit, you must suggest your edit on the talk page, then place{{request edit}}
so that an editor without a COI can review what you are proposing. Do not directly make substantial edits to articles in mainspace when you are being paid to do so. So, in answer to your question, it wasn't a "paragraph"; the whole thing was a brochure. If you'd like to try again, I can give you a list of sources that were used in the deleted article. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:21, 2 January 2024 (UTC)- I am so thankful and appreciate your clear explanations. I wish I could have a chance to edit the article once again and edit the choice of words since my language (Khmer) is softly different from English and I think I can make it a neutral point of view. To be honest, I didn't get paid by this organization to write about it. I wish I could declare my purpose. I just love the concept of this company and its community and want to share the information. Thanks for your kindness and hesitation to my question. Bxrxbx (talk) 10:40, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- You literally have a paid editing disclosure on your user page for it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:10, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- That's what one of the moderators told me to place it when I wrote the article long ago. Anyway, please let me edit the article and review it once again. I am willing to learn and do it. Please kindly help guide me on what to do next. Thank you so much. Bxrxbx (talk) 06:54, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Misplaced request (Lamiere)
@Seraphimblade we discussed in great detail the page "Lamiere " you claimed that the page was created in exchange for monetary value. I expressed in detail that it was not, as I am not a wikipedia expert and if so wouldn't the artist go to a more experienced author who creates mutiliple pages? I also showed you pages in the hip hop category that was similar to Lamiere that are not under attack. Other artist also have linkages to their music page to cite releases however you aren't deleting their pages. Can you please reverse the deletion and send the page to drafts I worked hard on the content. You indicated that the articles on Lamiere were a result of press releases however thats speculative and likely untrue and it can be argued that all major labels put out press released on their artist so that point is very unfair. You don't think the artist is popular enough do you follow hiphop? and what is the rubric for popularity? I have found the appropriate articles for Lamiere and will work on revamping her page as her legacy is important in the community. Please do not erase the history of Black American individuals That have put in a great deal of effort and time to building their brands independently despite many socioeconomic disadvantages like growing up in the projects and choosing to release music on their own Music, I have taken into account that the linkages appear to the community for beneficial to the artist so I will remove the links, I was unaware that links were seen this way. I am still learning this community. I am not well seasoned yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sadedavis1990 (talk • contribs) 07:42, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sadedavis1990, if you have now found references that would demonstrate notability, then my advice would stand—especially as you yourself highlight your inexperience, you should be using the draft and articles for creation process if you decide to make another try of it. I do not restore advertisements, and whatever you may think of press releases, they are not independent references and do not count towards notability. Also, you may want to read what that means in the context of Wikipedia—it's not related to popularity, either. Rather, it is a question of whether there is or is not enough reliable and independent reference material available to write a neutral and reasonably comprehensive article about a subject, without relying on any personal knowledge or the like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:54, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- can you please shed light on what sentence was an advertisement? There was no advertisement, the information was neutral and based on press releases, I am not highlighting my inexperience I am highlighting that your claims are speculative and false and their was no pay or exchange of funds. I would like to appeal the decision and speak with someone else who may see things differently or have an understanding, there was no reason to delete the page, can you please reverse it and send it back to drafts I have no problem with making the appropriate changes and running them by you Sadedavis1990 (talk) 03:41, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
There was no advertisement? how can I appeal the decision — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sadedavis1990 (talk • contribs) 03:35, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- I've explained to you repeatedly now that inclusion of large numbers of sales links is advertising, and neither that nor the answer on restoring it will change if you keep repeating the question. If you want DRV, it is thataway. Seraphimblade Talk to me 08:39, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- I did not include sales link in the article I did mistakenly include links to the music as references not for the purpose of sales, I can delete those references, that is not an advertisement, you have not explained this repeatedly you have made very speculative statements about my account being paid. I ask that you reverse the speedy deletion and send the article to drafts so i can remove those references and rework it, i will be sure to take a second and third look at the policy before publishing Sadedavis1990 (talk) 12:15, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Inquiry Regarding Deletion of Wikipedia Page (User:Jassbianchi)
Dear Seraphimblade,
I trust this message finds you well. My name is Jass Bianchi , and I am writing to inquire about the recent deletion of the Wikipedia page User:Jassbianchi.
I noticed that the page was deleted under section U5 (Misuse of Wikipedia as a web host) and G11 (Unambiguous advertising or promotion in userspace). I fully understand and respect Wikipedia's policies, and I am committed to ensuring that my contributions align with the community's standards.
I have reviewed the deletion notice and made efforts to address any issues related to promotional content. To facilitate a constructive dialogue and improve the page, I would greatly appreciate your guidance on specific aspects that may have led to the deletion. If there are particular sections or content that need adjustment, please let me know, and I will make the necessary revisions.
I value the principles of collaboration within the Wikipedia community and aim to contribute in a manner that enhances the encyclopedia's quality and reliability. Your insights will be invaluable in helping me better understand and adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your feedback and the opportunity to work together to bring the page in line with Wikipedia's standards.
Best regards,
Jass Bianchi Jassbianchi (talk) 09:46, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Jassbianchi, I'm not sure what's unclear about that. All types of promotion, including marketese-style writing, PR, and "talking up", are prohibited on Wikipedia. User pages, which is where you were writing, are for editors to describe their thoughts regarding contributing to Wikipedia, not to advertise their work or companies. Similarly, articles must be strictly neutral and not contain inappropriate puffery such as (as a few examples, but by no means an exhaustive list):
Award-Winning Rapper
(what's with the miscapitalization? I'm not sure why, but I find a lot of marketese material inappropriately capitalizes stuff like that. Regardless, "award-winning" is puff.)Recognized for her exceptional dedication to volunteer work
(don't editorialize that something is "exceptional", and "recognized" by whom, according to what reliable and independent source?),embodying her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
(totally inappropriate puffery and editorializing), and it just goes on and on like that. If you want to write glowing, hagiographic material like that about someone, you won't be permitted to do it here. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:54, 14 January 2024 (UTC)- I appreciate your guidance on addressing the issues related to promotional content and inappropriate puffery.
- I am committed to making the necessary revisions to align with Wikipedia's policies and standards. To facilitate this process, I kindly request your permission to re-edit the page. Alternatively, if it's possible, I would appreciate it if the page could be temporarily restored to allow for the required revisions.
- I understand the importance of maintaining a neutral and encyclopedic tone on Wikipedia, and I am dedicated to contributing in a manner that respects these principles.
- Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to your guidance on how we can move forward with this.
- Best regards,
- Jass Bianchi Jassbianchi (talk) 12:22, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- I do not undelete advertisements, and in any case, it would be simpler to completely rewrite the whole thing; there's not really anything salvageable in it. In any case, you can't use your user page as a means to promote yourself. As I said above, while you can choose to give a short synopsis of who you are and what you do (if you want to; it's also completely acceptable to remain anonymous), a user page should primarily focus on your activities on Wikipedia. If you are trying to write an article, and it seems here that you are the subject of the article, we really discourage that, since it's almost impossible to remain neutral and stick only to what sources confirm in a case like that. But it's not forbidden, just advised against, so if you really want to try, you can try creating a draft and seeking review from articles for creation. I don't recommend that, though, as it's likely to end in frustration for you, but if you really want to try that's the way to go about it. Due to conflict of interest in writing about yourself or someone you know well, you should not directly create a mainspace article without any review by a non-conflicted editor. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:51, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
