Are things overrated?

[edit]

Discuss. InedibleHulk (talk) 08:08, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Back in the day, it was said that "the unexamined life was unworth living". Today, I'm not sure that's so. Even responding to such a question may affect my credit rating. But that's OK... looking at the Moody map, it seems clear that institutionalized investors should throw their money directly into the unmarked (wine-dark) sea. -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 08:46, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many, many things - not your edit summaries though. 20WattSphere (talk) 10:38, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some of them, taken alone, I consider legit A material. On the other hand, one can easily get lost in any 50-long stream of them (potentially triggering insanity) and I think people in aggregate have linked enough of the offensive/problematic/toxic ones to compile a Top Worst 40. On the whole, solid C+. InedibleHulk (talk) 23:15, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some nights I misuse "proposition" and these are the blights that never end! InedibleHulk (talk) 02:40, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
When the grammar mechanics got to the scene, they didn't seem overly put off by the wreck and asked me if I would like their help sorting it out. They said there was nothing to worry about. Instead of "that for which it is used", they suggested I leave the off-ending sentence out. (For its intended use, they said no refrigeration was needed.) -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 07:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think I "got your drift" there, and if so, considered it "iced". InedibleHulk (talk) 10:28, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. They rarely fail to make me smile. I hope you'll pardon my occasional imitation of your style, which I know often comes off as the humblest of flatulence. (C-) -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 08:35, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, but objects are. DrewieStewie (talk) 21:26, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Objection, objectification! Seriously though, overruled. Anything in particular got your goat, sir? InedibleHulk (talk) 16:12, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DrewieStewie: By the power preposterously vested in me by this 113,000th edit, I beseech thee once more: What, precisely, grindeth thy gears this Monday instant? The way dusty old documents "seem to speak"? If so, I agree, not a fan! But yeah, it's probably something, something...else. Good luck, regardless or irregardless! InedibleHulk (talk) 19:26, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Honored to be your 113,000th edit! Nah, Mondays are just tiring, working overnight then driving to Sac to school to read dead people talking. Heavy, overrated objects that I know a lot about! This degree needs to come already… want to fill out my MA program application? You sound very qualified. It’ll be a great use of the t-ban energy outside of Wikipedia. DrewieStewie (talk) 20:12, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm certified to write a bona fide newspaper article about your quest for higher learning, but that's it. Purely technical vulgarity, nothing truly Latin. My fee would be exorbitant, anyway, since I'd have to be my own editor and publisher. You do you, and I'll continue taking notes abroad, maybe master in something or another later. It doesn't even feel like September in Canada today, and things are "only heating up". Must conserve energy to move forward, or something paradoxical a dead Chinese emperor might say. Keep it cool, California Kid, and the degrees will fall as they will! InedibleHulk (talk) 22:10, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm GiantSnowman. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Mitchily Waul have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. GiantSnowman 21:06, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't supposed to be constructive, I condensed it. It wasn't vandalism, though. I don't vandalize. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:08, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: Cheers on expanding it the right way. A stub lead should summarize the Career, not merely provide the most apparent fact before a subsection lays out the rest. Good to see Crystal Eagles in the body (and the rest). Keep it up, but kindly remember that although you've worked harder on this site over the years, I had three weeks under my belt by the time you were a noob. It's not much seniority, of course, and it doesn't make me your superior. Just roughly equal, maybe, so if you have a problem with something I do in the future, don't invite me to the Teahouse or tell me to "experiment" in a sandbox. Use your words, please. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:55, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, sorry - in the nicest way I had never heard of you and your edit summaries gave off big 'noob' energy... GiantSnowman 10:20, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know we've interacted elsewhere, possibly a drama board. You're in Archive 6 of this Talk Page, telling me "potato potato" about Jacob Mulee and how your version is better. I still have no idea what "potato potato" means, but I remember you as a rude one. Anyway, if you've forgotten, I can forgive. Peace. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:27, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You've been here even longer than me, but I never came across you until today. Your name made me laugh. It prompted me to click on your user and talk pages, and I laughed more (not as heartily as the folks pictured, but more than a wry smile). Thanks for that. Well, you're welcome! Thank you for bringing Ventura County Historic Landmarks & Points of Interest to my attention. There's this running joke that probably only I find "funny" in which I spell out ampersands and remark "Ampersands suck". In another classic (but more abstract) bit, I fix MOS:NOBACKREF violations while noting "Implied". The stage seems set for a double whammy, as it were, so I hope you "get" what I'm about to do to "your" article, eh? Feel free to improve Terrible Ted or Creep Catcher, too, if either of them needs it. Inflexible grammar tics aside, though, some of those do look like interesting places! You've given me a lot to YouTube, my intriguingly named new workbuddy. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:33, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

(When I got down to business, it turned out the ampersand in this case is backed by the Ventura County Cultural Heritage Board, and so unequivocally does not suck; thus, simply "Implied".) InedibleHulk (talk) 00:42, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AN pie in the sky

[edit]

Re: Special:Diff/1191146256. I've heard of AN pie in the sky, but it's more common name is a functional administrator's noticeboard with no drama! Thryduulf (talk) 22:01, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a fine place, in theory. But what would get done without something for the protagonists (and there are many) to overcome? Without the plot, there's no story and everyone goes home. Not a job any mortal should live for, I say. A purely functional AN pieground is an AI pieground, bye and bye. And yes, I do believe I invented that word. So yeah, if you like it, I demand attribution! More to the point, though, you're alright. Good to hear from you again! InedibleHulk (talk) 00:10, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm "getting by" on Javascript disability, so that's "not my problem". What I desperately need right now are snow stamps. They're like food stamps, except absolutely freaking infeasible. Last winter, I didn't mind a little less, thought it was cool. But then almost nothing melted in the spring and we all know what that did last summer (especially to a very small sliver of the Manhattan skyline). At least last "season", there was something somewhat fluffy or sticky or festive on the ground. Nothing but hard mud and dead grass. Y'ever try throwing a wad of cash at a frosty knoll, Jack? Fuhgettaboutit! But the children say we can laugh and play, in a land of make believe and magic hats. Maybe that'll do, Drew. Maybe that'll do! InedibleHulk (talk) 01:49, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For those keeping score at home, the snow is currently winning! Has been for about a week. There's hope yet? InedibleHulk (talk) 03:45, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tudor Revival architecture

[edit]

Hi - not quite sure what you were doing there, and your edit summaries didn't make it any clearer. Have reverted for now. If you make major additions/deletions, can you give edit summaries that allow other editors to understand what you're intending. Thanks. KJP1 (talk) 21:30, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I linked MOS:NOBACKREF in the first one, thought that was clear enough. No need to keep repeating the title. And the "Beginnings" section just kept going, like a standard History section (history naturally including the next two centuries). InedibleHulk (talk) 21:32, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, no, it wasn't clear. Could you try for clearer summaries moving forward. KJP1 (talk) 21:36, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could say I'll try to work on plainer edit summaries, but I've said it before and trying didn't amount to much. I have stopped "joking" on tragic articles, though, I think. Anyway, a bright blue link saying "It's RIGHT THERE" should be clear enough for anyone in the future, eh? InedibleHulk (talk) 21:39, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Removing an entire section, with an edit summary "Yer history, Stockman!", only to re-instate it 2 minutes later, does not make your intentions clear. KJP1 (talk) 22:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that (referring to "stockbroker") and Manny (alluding to "many") were deep cuts and pretty messed up. Sorry. Won't happen again. For the record, though, I didn't "reinstate" it. I moved it, to "History" (and it wasn't a whole two minutes). InedibleHulk (talk) 22:14, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What does it mean when the groundhog DIES?

[edit]

Ten years ago ex-Leninist (real affiliation) Democratic Socialist NYC mayor Wilhelm "Bill" de Blasio (real name) klutzily dropped it (his very first groundhog lift). In front of shocked kids (Charlotte took seven days to die). Five years before her grandpa bit the previous mayor (who even then owned a quarter kilometer Manhattan skyscraper, big TV channel and $16,000,000,000.00 US$ – at least double any other USA politician's peak even now even counting before and after office). Since 2015 the groundhog's entire home is lifted to a transparent shield completely by elevator and no one's allowed to hold it. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 19:00, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fred la marmotte died right on time last year. It wasn't a Bloc plot (so far as we know) and no political careers were harmed (again, like we'd know), but the snow tapered off and the forests spontaneously combusted (or so it might seem). Made the big Manhattan TV channel blame Canada for ruining its Diablo ads and then I forget what happened. Anyway, fuck de Blasio for not knowing when to hold 'em! That's pretty much all I'm allowed to say about post-Reagan American politics around here; just be kind to dumb animals, from the penthouse to the outhouse and whatever's zoned between. Happy New Year to you, as well! InedibleHulk (talk) 13:18, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa found dead on 2/2, groundhogs are almost cursed. Yeah happy new year! Don't know if it'll be happy but lots of stuff gonna happen. Warfighting, unusual number of major world elections even for a leap year, total "day to deep twilight in like milliseconds" eclipse in Ontario & my state, solar maximum, Olympiad, Niño, NATO, lunar minimum, Lewis shocks F1, heat records & wildfires (already), first US cricket world cup (in my suburbs), Dodgers became dream team overnight (will their playoff curse end?) and of course maybe the most soap opera-esque POTUS race yet. It's even a big year in Star Trek predictions. The decade in general's so full of stuff maybe we even get zombies with the moonbase, soccer world cup, Olympic flag football, first intercity maglev in the world, late 20s astronomy and NY rail, tower & airport boom. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 01:07, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wiarton Willie (my most trusted name in news) died somewhat close in 2021, too. Curses, indeed. I haven't really been watching the stars (and their friends) lately, but I'll have to remember to stay awake for Operation Deep Twilight! Have seen those Chilean wildfire videos, though, not good at all. Weird time for a president to plummet, too. I wish that great nation well in the World Cup, if it's any consolation. I know Canada doesn't really want it, deep down. Regardless who wins or if the planet lives to tell, thanks again for all the fish. I mean, pipelinks. Railroads, zombies, the whole nine yards. Not sure what it all (quite) means (yet), but I appreciate it far more than I ever could cricket. Cheers! InedibleHulk (talk) 19:19, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 (mid-afternoon). But centerline vs right outside the thin path is like good seats vs listening to a microphone on the upper outside stadium wall from overseas & intentionally avoiding any spoilers that can't be guessed from the microphone. The tree shadows become crescent confetti, if you put a white blanket on sunlit ground you can see shadow bands race in the last moments from the sub-0.001 sunwidth-thin crescent twinkling, if you watch from East Canada peaks you can see the total shadow move at over 1,000 mph, birds literally tweet confusedly then it looks like a black hole for a few minutes, sometimes the white ring is hairy and/or spiky and/or has a giant solar flare and you can see stars and planets (you can see the Sun, Moon & 5 or 6 solar system planets naked eye simultaneously and maybe the other planets with optical aid all in a 66 degree circle, that's very rare), when the Sun comes back some people see pink/red chromosphere for a moment then it's briefly only one Moon valley of Sun peek so the ring of fire becomes the diamond-ring effect, some eclipses reach two diamonds before its too bright to see the ring then put filter back on Baily's beads multiply and merge to a crescent. It's safer to not look at pre-black hole diamond unfiltered to avoid naked eye too soon and eye damage. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 03:06, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I was already feeling like Northern Ontario gets shat on, thanks to the largely unremarkable demise of the awesomely named Victor M. Power, and now another great touring starshow passes me by. Ah well, I hope you and the millions of other lucky ducks are happy. That's the important thing. Big City Lights! Not even sarcastic, y'all earned it. It's your birthright! All the loop-based entertainment on Earth and beyond, every year, continually, for decades. But you know what your good fortune can't buy? Yeah, that's right. A dinosaur! InedibleHulk (talk) 03:44, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Moon's over 2,000 miles wide so it might be dark enough to make the sunlight look dim & tree shadows show crescents where you are, but shadow bands & beads & solar flare arches are in a band a few hundred kilometers wide. The bands start faint like 1 minute before, become intense then black out. That must look cool on Lake Ontario or a frozen pond or Sahara or something. The temperature drop averages 10 Fahrenheit which increases clouds if it's humid enough, enough to go from clear sky to no corona for you if you're really unlucky. We won't get the cool stuff either Appalachia will. NYC has no total solar eclipse between Jan 1925 & 2079 (luckier than the average 360-year gap). In '25 97th Street saw total & 0.1 miles south saw extended diamond/partial from a 3500 km wide-Moon it's that hairsplitting. As for entertainment that's one of the most common reasons for moving here. Why else would you move here if you grew up almost anywhere in North America? Cause they wanted more things to do besides just like high-school football. Movie theaters with up to 25 screens & with many floors, block-sized stores with 10 floors, room-sized 200mph fan grills you pay to be over & fly like a god, the museum with the real 100-foot dino skeletons, chess hustlers, Spiderman beggars upside-down on your subway, a museum for anything even subways, clubs where men dance in cages, a sex museum with a don't hump the buff statues sign cause someone did (mainstream hobbies cause the most moves though, stuff like arts, dining or nightlife). thumb|left|It's no dinosaur but Earth's biggest bank can at least buy this (I don't know if JPMorgan Chase is well-known in Ontario too). Or Chase Manhattan (1955-2000), what it was called before merging with JPMorgan. Which was itself Chase National (1877-1955) plus The Bank of the Manhattan Company (1799-1955) thumb|right|It's the half-built one here, when it's done it'll be 90% the height of the tallest thing here! thumb|right|Another of Earth's biggest banks also made a cool ~thousand foot brick on sticks all the way back in '77. The merger/name history's cute too: Citigroup (1998-2024+) maiden name Citicorp (1976-1998) eventually First National City Bank of New York (1955-1962) maiden name the City Bank of New York (1812-1955) Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 09:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what we see when we see it. If we see it. Whatever "it" is. Did you know a Canadian invented the multiplex? I forget his name, but there's a Heritage Minute about it (it's not one of the better ones, mind you). In political news, one of our councillors is missing. The arts, artists and godly fan grills are definitely up there on The Reasons List, but I'm personally "shocked and appalled" by all these preposterously oversized novelty banks. Even the "regular" office towers can all go jump in Lake Champlain, in my travel opinion. Nobody needs more than seven storeys, especially with today's snazzy advances in underground vaults. That's not to say Toronto doesn't need to settle down in the same way or doesn't have some nice plaster casts of dusty old bones as well, but none of it is worth even a wooly mammoth as far as live animal entertainment goes. If I saw a sign telling me not to hump a public inanimate object, it'd be the only reason I would. So I guess I should just stay home for now. One of these days, though, I think I'll pass through on my way to Philadelphia. That is a route, right? Seems that's what Penn Station is for. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:10, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well I do now. Thank you inventors of Canada! Like McGill University, who desoccerized American football. NYC has so many preposterously oversized banks. Insurance buildings too. FIRE we call it (Finance Insurance Real Estate). Public transit to Philly is plentiful, if you wait 7 years that route might get the first fast non-Japanese intercity maglev. Not just fast but a world record tying 311mph. Or you can use an airport terminal (which are all being razed & rebuilt bigger in better places cause they suck). Or the already world's busiest bus terminal (8,000 buses per day it doesn't even have local buses) which is being razed & rebuilt bigger cause it sucks. Visit late enough & the intercity train station will likely also be razed & rebuilt bigger cause it sucks. They're already hoping to force the NBA/NHL arena owner to move so they can raze both & add floors as they're vertically stacked. I hope to visit Quebec City & Montreal one day. Beautiful architecture, beautiful Frenchwomen, what's not to like? Toronto too. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 07:21, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have seven years, it'll have to be a slow and bumpy ride. Montreal used to have a cozy little Singer factory. And New York used to have the Mrs. William B. Astor House. It doesn't seem to have sucked, at least from here and now, but razed it was and rebuilt it is. Bit more godly now, but in the regular earthly style. My town has never had a synagogue (or mosque), only school buses/light aircraft and precisely five beautiful Frenchwomen. I knew four, knew one well and two too well, if you know what I mean. I hope the Devils never have to play in another damned tower. What good is it to keep your stick on the ice if the ice isn't grounded? The Future is X-Rated, I tell ya. Compare a business card to a trade card; night and day, apples and oranges, beer and wine. C'est la vie! Anyway, since I like you, I've only hidden all these latest two-dimensional underwhelming oversized novelty FIRE stations, rather than the old "you suck" treatment. You're welcome, eh? InedibleHulk (talk) 14:49, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also thought it's cause Philly's the next big city, and even if you try to Chicagoate Pennsylvanialessly that little bit on the lake gets you). But it's actually like if Air Canada built Detroit Airport 1910, called it Canada Airport, then decades later agreed to let the aboveground become arenas & towers for a 25% stake, 1 free razing & 1 free underground airport station, then went bankrupt mid-construction despite owning 25% & getting a free ride. They didn't name it Amtrak or US Gov't Station so Penn it is (this is also why Grand Central Station isn't central, it's named for a long-dead NY Central RR) I've been on the cheapest one it briefly does 125mph, ride quality's OK, you'll live. There's also one several times the price with less stops that briefly does 150. One cool thing about DC/Philly to NY is if you go Greyhound® there's a point where it reaches 14-lanes & the road stays under the glideslope for awhile then a gentle S then you hug two runways on one side & 80-90 mph trains on the other & you can temporarily beat the big jet taking off in a drag race (obviously not too often, they usually takeoff too soon or from the wrong end). The skyline's so small when it first breaches the horizon, you also watch the land go through 5 stages of grief in 50 miles (farm, exurb, suburb, urb, superurb). First sprawl then an orgy of oil distillation towers, oil tanks, excessive lightbulbs & big fires 24/7 (so if a gas leaks it doesn't do a mini-Hiroshima like Texas 2005). thumb|left|Pulaski Skyway Then Newark Airport, then the other side of that overpass which is an optical illusion – it looks like the bus in right lane will hit (especially before they lowered it) then you gradually realize the guardrail's much taller than usual & it's not that low. Then you enter the inland swamp & pass 100 meter antennas in a line in the saltwater (Sandy probably flooded this part), then hug the Philly tracks & pass that transfer station equivalent of a cloverleaf overpass which is pretty cool. thumb|right|Secaucus Junction Then you turn from I-95 so late it's a 90° bend to align with Manhattan's tunnel. Then finally leave the swamp, go uphill in a trench with a bridge like every block, see skyline again (much nearer this time (1 mile)), drive off a 100-foot natural cliff, turn 360° to a concrete trench to one of 3 car holes (high school football plays at the concrete hole cliff) to where you stop turning which is deep underground. Then you navigate a butthole-thin 2-lane pipe with centerline ski slalom stalagmites that you aren't allowed to cross. The NY city limit is a brick line almost 100 feet below sea level (so if someone crashes in the tube they know which state owns which piece of river) then they sometimes avoid traffic with a ramp that's bus-only from tunnel to gate. You can leave by the massive Times Square subway station that looks like it's part of the basement or by foot or taxi stand or journey to the rooftop parking lot with amazing 360° skyscraper views (especially the 1,046 foot New York Times across the street). I mean, sure, if you don't consider Oneonta a big city, Philadelphia's the next best ticket. That's a lot to keep in mind, though, even before the whole swamp/hill/trench/cave/block/butthole/river complex. Luckily, I haven't even thought about how to begin applying for a passport yet, so I'll have time to read those mighty fine details again (and again). In the meantime, I've taken the liberty™ of outright shitcanning your flatironed Times building facsimile and putting the "the" back into the horizon. I hope you understand, I'm simply too micro for all that macrovision. Superurb?!? Come on. I mean, come on... InedibleHulk (talk) 16:04, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Suburb & exurb are real words but not urb (city is urbs/urbe/urbi/urbibus etc in Latin cause they grammar hard's). English should add superurban cause there's a big range between barely urban & very urban. Like Inuit snow words the differences seem bigger when you're around it all the time. Enjoy the Superb Owl! Most spectacular corona of a lifetime

[edit]

A NASA researcher focused on solar physics, said that he expects this to be the most spectacular corona of a lifetime. “The more solar activity, the more spikes all the way around from the sun,” “I think it’s going to be really cool.” The space weather forecast says possible coronal mass ejection bubble & triple large arches Film and at least some digital cameras have too little white to black range to look as good as the eye view, though some of the pics have been eye simulating composites for decades. Where one pic's underexposed except the brightest pixels, one's overexposed except the darkest eye-visible pixels and so on & they show the right pixels at the right brightness. Sometimes they blastitize a camera with so much light the Moon pixels are lit by the Full Earth so they look like a hyperunderexposed Full Moon but that's hard or impossible to see by eye. And with a telescope especially with a Nagler (82 degree field-of-view) you can see that up to dozens of times bigger. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 14:31, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

c.1 quake a decade is felt by some in the area which always makes local news, I was in the city for all & never noticed an earthquake in my life except yesterday. In the VTEC part of the subway I wouldn't even notice as it shakes so fast (the VTEC part of the subway's the yellow line from Queensboro Plaza (not Queens Plaza) to Manhattan, it's shaky 1970s/80s trains reaching more mph than anywhere else in the system) if you're ever in NYC go before they retire them with the new bullet train-looking ones & do that ride).
They're also scared, glad or impatient cause a few Bible verses are kind of close & there's an American umbra Aug '17, American antumbra Oct '23, Statue of Liberty torch lightning Apr 3 '24 (which isn't rare), quake then Divine Mercy Sunday (Catholic)/Doubting Thomas Sunday (Protestant) then the umbra crosses streams with 2017. The Bible starts with Eden & ends with New Jerusalem (jewel-encrusted transparent gold city 1500x1500x1500 miles) and Mormons say both are centered on a hectare @ the River Boulevard bus stop near Kansas but some Mormons now say it's where they'll have umbras c.6.66 years apart. But a small zone in Africa had umbras in 2001+'02, it's not as rare as they think. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 19:35, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
These are the verses: Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (blood moons are really common)
Joel 2:30-31 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
Matt 24:3b-7 and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? [Jesus said: False Christs! Also] ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars [don't worry] For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines [African wars & CO2 is really trying], and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers[e] places. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 20:15, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The VTEC sounds a bit like this crazy '80s trolley I used to know called the Wilde Beast. Bit of a False Beast, if you consider the meager blood, smoke and fire, but it certainly rocks, sways and "bops like hell". And lo, the German Intercontinental Champion did fall in Philadelphia last night to a Syrian-French-Canadian after a suspiciously glorious 666 days. The important thing is you made it out of that tunnel before sundown; don't ask me what happens after sundown, but it doesn't sound good. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:17, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That sundown Simpsons episode was just comedy. The parts his family saw haven't been like that since the 1980s/early 90s. What does happen is after 2-3 on weeknights that train has rapists, thieves, addicts, gangsters, homeless, lung shankers cause one of Earth's biggest jails frees ppl at that end @ 2-5am (usually ~3am). Cause when they started ages ago Queens Plaza had no homes only factories/shops/office tower(s)/multistory car parking building(s) (people live there now though, 200 meter towers!) & it's the nearest transit hub to the huge jail island. A hub near all subways & far from city limits so they disperse. They give them like $100 cash & free transit fare to discourage walking home for like 6 hours, or jumping off the bridge then release from prison bus on this huge street (almost 0.05 miles wide with 3 floors of subway station above the middle. thumb|left|It used to be fucking thicc. There's also a huge rail yard, huge 4-track underground subway, huge 200ft-wide boulevard, another boulevard & 2 floors of bridge to Manhattan all at the ends of this short road. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 03:12, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On the bright side, a homeless addict thief with a hundred bucks in his pocket is probably reformed enough for one day (three if he plays his cards right). I wouldn't want to stand too close to one of those lung-shanking rapists, though, especially if it's been 25 years since he's seen anyone with a decently long dark sackcloth of hair. The gangsters should never have gone to prison in the first place, if you ask me, just turns them into prison gangsters. They should be given new identities and luxurious penthouse safesuites. Not just the Italians, either! The stickballers, the bowery boys and the ladies of liberty alike deserve yet another chance to climb the social ladder, risk-free. Lone wolves, though, fuhgettaboutit! On that note, I'm off to see whether the Samoan Bloodline in Philly "took care of" that son of a son of a plumber (NOPEDATE). I already know Logan Paul and IShowSpeed made their country proud (damn newfangled cheaters). Enjoy your moonstravaganza and congratulations on making Wikipedia front page news! InedibleHulk (talk) 18:08, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone sentenced to over a year goes to upstate prisons like Sing Sing, I don't know where they release. In 1797 they started imprisoning them upstream in full-blown Manhattan countryside less than 2 miles from downtown, from 1826 to trains they steamboated 30 mi upriver to Sing Sing in Ossining. 175 fucking years later being sent up the river is still nationwide slang for going to prison. Even though it's only county jail it's one of the most dangerous lockups in the 1st world, at least the maximum security full grown men parts, there's also other levels like minimum security, medium & protective solitary, even a whole jail just for the ill & another for males from birthday 16 to 18 that closed 2018. Lousy isle. 78% the 413 acres is soil on 1920s/30s NYC trash on shallow river parts (still leaking trash gas), downwind the sewage testament plant & huge fossil power plant (bad for asthma inmates), very low 767 planes takeoff/land nearby, a plane crashed there, 9,424 reported physical assaults in 2015, literal slinging poo+pee at ppl, schizophrenics, giant in for subway murder stabs jail mental health clinician, things like that.thumb|right|Property of 1664 farmer Abraham Rycken. This is a 1959 black sun, the red lines show if it rose at end, peak or start. In NYC it was 100 miles away & the dawn still went forward then backward then forward & a few amateur astronomer boys freaked out unable to believe an eclipse that far from the umbra & horizon could do what it did without supernatural help (the few NYC Christian fundamentalists must've thought this is it for sure!). You definitely would've seen darkening if you were closer. And even if the umbra was overcast from horizon to horizon it would've been effing dark, maybe about as dark as cloudless snowless early spring midnight @ full moon except there's incomplete transition to night vision from the exponentially decreasing light so it'd look darker than it was. One out-of-touch NYC relative didn't so much as suspect an eclipse till decrescendo. Assumed it was rainclouds till they 1st learned of the eclipse. Yes it crossed cloud gaps very often & they're used to storms hiding afternoon sun before window side but 90% of the Sun was gone. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 03:13, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is the solar maximum I mentioned

[edit]

Once per 1/9th century or so. A huge naked eye sunspot dirties the sunsets now, and once a generation-level aurorae dirty north horizon. Also this summer to next is the once per 18.61yr lunar standstill which means once every 13-14 days the path is at least 5° more extreme than the Sun ever does & 10+° more extreme than the moons of 2015, 1997, '78, '59, '41 & '22. Rising+setting further left or right than any other time, shortest hometown moonshadow if it & Orion's red star are due south, most horizon-hugging rise-peak-set path if Sagittarius. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 02:15, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I already knew the first thing you said, though had always considered it "about every eleven years". Thanks for the new spin on that, and all these other details (many of which I'm sure to forget, sadly). Tried to observe something "naked eye special" for the last two nights, but again, too many clouds. Bit of a flicker, like a dying fluorescent bulb. I've seen spiffier in my generation, I think, but next to the last few years, yeah, it was greener than nothing! Let's go, 2036ish! InedibleHulk (talk) 16:59, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I saw 11.11 years but it's been 9 years and 14, there probably isn't enough centuries yet to know if 9 per century's closer.
Maxima have been weakening since mid-century (hiding a tiny amount of the coal/oil/gas warming) but maybe 2012 one was weakest? It's not exactly the blue monthly average sunspot number line anyway as it's very complicated. With some solar weather things changing much quicker than once a day, the magnetic fields of Sun burps hitting at varying strengths of alignment or anti-alignment to the Northern Hemisphere's, is it burping at Earth or away etc. When it's aligned with crucial infrastructure it can temporarily end a whole Canadian province's electricity like 1989. But sunspots usually age slow enough to affect the blue line whether they affect Earth or not (it'd have to die in 0 to 2 weeks to die before Earth rises). The ITN aurora went way north long ago it's over South Baffin now but maybe one more chance tonight. Or another big aurora could happen in the next few years. spaceweather.com has frequently updated aurora maps. When a taut string from the sun overhead place to you on a globe passes the geomagnetic pole (not magnetic pole) it's magnetic midnight: the middle of the best time all other things being equal.

Your opposition to adding Starship to in the news

[edit]

Why were you against adding Starship to in the news? It wasn't "incremental" it achieved something never done before in the history of mankind, namely successfully landing the first stage and upper stage of a rocket back to the surface of the Earth, albeit on the water's surface. Ergzay (talk) 21:09, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't for or against it. I just closed the nomination after realizing consensus wouldn't develop. Less a waste a time for everyone that way. I'm sure I didn't say "incremental". You might want to ask someone else about that. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:19, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I saw your wording change to this page. What if it was worded like this: "He struggled with substance abuse throughout much of his life and appeared on the reality television series Celebrity Rehab and Sober House." I will not implement anything just yet per WP:STATUSQUO, but what do you think of this change? I find that your wording on the page is a bit negatively loaded, but I would like to know what you think before I do any more editing to the wording on the page. Thank you. JeffSpaceman (talk) 21:35, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My wording's neutral. That's my opinion, anyway, maybe I'm biased. To me, "struggled with" makes substance abuse sound like it was all problems, all the time. Same as if you'd said "enjoyed" instead (only vice versa). Just stating the fact of what he did for much of his life, without further editorializing, seems fairly objective. Again, you probably disagree. You also likely care more. If you still want to after considering this, write what you want. I won't reword you again. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:42, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll leave your changes mostly as is, I think I understand you now. I do intend to change "through" to "throughout" in the sentence, though, since I think that word works better grammatically. JeffSpaceman (talk) 21:48, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding citizenship to articles

[edit]

It's not uncommon to see editors adding someone's presumed nationality/citizenship to an article without citing a source for it. But there isn't an exception to WP:NOR that would allow us to infer this information without a verifiable source. (t · c) buidhe 00:39, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I got it from the categories (and context). I then removed it from the categories, and now that I think I see what you mean, I'll add it back. I'm also going to revert your restoration of the unsourced bit I'd removed. Hope that's OK. Cheers. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:44, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, just removed the "American" part from the categories, not the historian bits. You don't doubt she's a historian, I take it. I'd like to know more about whether she's really a colonel, personally (not urgently or anything, though). InedibleHulk (talk) 01:56, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It says so in the cited source. Per NPROF it is typical to rely on these bios for information, although I guess that is a military qualification, not an academic one. (t · c) buidhe 02:44, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment on my Talk page

[edit]

Hi, you posted a comment on my talk page that you then deleted a few days afterwards, regarding Shelley Duvall. I'm sorry if you interpreted my silence as dismissal. I was just very busy these past few days, and wasn't sure what to reply. Wikipedia is just an occasional indulgence on my part, and some weeks are busier than others work-wise. Anyway, while we may not always have agreed in comments on ITN or on the ITN Talk page, I wouldn't want my silence in this case to come across as dismissal - I appreciate you taking the time to posting on my Talk Page, I just didn't get around to replying in due course. On the Shelley Duvall matter itself: I don't have a particularly strong opinion either way on her. I find it somewhat sad that because of our outrageously stringent quality criteria she hasn't been featured on RD yet. Besides that, my opposition to having her featured as a Picture RD is due to my opposition to Picture RDs in general - for me, it's a weasel solution for not posting a blurb. All your "Old Man Dies" comments for RD blurbs apply equally to Picture RDs in my opinion. I don't think we should have picture RDs at all because if someone is worthy enough to have their picture featured, why not have a one-line blurb telling users who that person in the picture is? Ultimately, my personal conviction is that RD should be its own separate section, and editors interested in obituaries should then define what that section should look like - blurbs, pictures, short descriptors, etc. Other wikipedias manage to have an obituary section, I'm at a loss why the English Wikipedia doesn't manage to agree to it. Khuft (talk) 21:39, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think a Wikilinked name in RD beside "(pictured)" lets users know who's in the picture, same as those in blurbs. The caption would theoretically reiterate it, too, without a line emphasizing the (usually old) age. In practice, though, yeah, ITN "needs work"; cheers to business! InedibleHulk (talk) 07:36, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, in my ideal futuristic necrotopia, the photos just help users put faces to names and any entry that could use such help is "worthy" for that alone. InedibleHulk (talk) 08:11, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perplexity

[2]; "cisgender" means "heterosexual", right? It's impossible to stay away from all the pages about living people. JacktheBrown (talk) 19:52, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update. From the web: "Essere cisgender quindi non significa per forza essere eterosessuali" (lit.'Being cisgender therefore doesn't necessarily mean being heterosexual'); I will study all the meanings. JacktheBrown (talk) 19:58, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I meant to mean you can also discuss their sex lives, controversial or not, under this proscription. Then again, maybe you can't. We're still part of a trial run, essentially. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:58, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@InedibleHulk: as already explained here, regarding all controversial topics I will limit myself only to edits that concern style changes. JacktheBrown (talk) 20:01, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, even in articles about cisgender people? If you want, that's OK. Just not required. InedibleHulk (talk) 20:12, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"So, even in articles about cisgender people?"; I didn't quite understand the meaning of the term. I will certainly edit, perhaps even significantly, the pages about straight/heterosexual people (example: Adriano Celentano). JacktheBrown (talk) 20:17, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's good. I mean, providing they're good edits. I just hope you don't take this ban to mean you can't do the same for articles about homosexual, bisexual or asexual people (and the things they've made), especially where there's no brouhaha. It's still fine if you'd rather not, of course. You're just allowed. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:01, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

All In

[edit]

I was just checking yesterday's top read articles apropos discussion of Pavel Durov at ITN. He's #2 but I noticed that the top read was All In (2024) and that turns out to have been a wrestling event at Wembley Stadium, which is not far from where I am writing this. Such PPV events often do well with our readership -- UFC 305 was big recently too.

Some ITN regulars seem to hate learning what our readership actually wants and likes but I suppose you will appreciate it more. "Yes!"

Andrew🐉(talk) 13:41, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What I appreciate is nothing like AEW! When actual bookers book matches, they are inherent to a story! Deep, situational and emotional matches based on what is relevant and has a point! Not just one interchangeable highspot after another! Don't you ever, ever, compare WWF to AEW! You hear me, Andrew?! Equate SummerSlam '92 to All In again, and so help me I will running powerslam you where you stand!
Granted, most of that is "stolen" from Cartman's thoughts on Family Guy, and I'm not Cartman enough to want a show I find offensive and potentially harmful canceled (or its viewers actually powerslammed), but the underlying sentiment remains. Whether churning out lazy week-to-week copy on the say-so of one "social media platform" or another, any promotion that doesn't remember the people don't know what they want is setting itself up for a fate far worse than "inmates running the asylum". WWE has been just as guilty lately, too, but it at least has its Pat Patterson-won laurels to rest on and/or justify its continued fan-service bullshit (for a little while longer).
UFC's presumably still cool and I just stopped watching because the better pirating options gradually developed far worse adware issues. It's much harder to shortsightedly kill kayfabe and utterly devalue the finishers when the talent "really" depends on fans buying into the legitimacy of those moves as moves toward veritable title contention. But even so, after Joe Silva got the boot and the shows became far more weekly, the matchmaking did start to veer toward "OMG, so random" territory. C'est la vie, eh? Like Gene Snitsky, it's not your fault. I'm sorry you couldn't tune into "my world" before it became just another digital wasteland, but I'm sure the current "IWC Universe" wishes you well in however you choose to appreciate any or all such future endeavours; cheers? Different strokes for different folks. The late Queen and Maggie Thatcher were both fans of Big Daddy. I did some work on him myself and so can appreciate his appeal... Andrew🐉(talk) 17:18, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's weird; I just made a Nelson Frazier Jr. reference at Talk:Sid Eudy. In other words, a shoutout to Big Daddy V. He wasn't the fifth and he wasn't British, but he was King Mabel, and I doubt that was inspired by Greece, Thailand or Denmark's royal rumbles. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:18, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Weirder still, now Villano V is dead. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:02, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why "...It might backfire otherwise. It might backfire still."? [3]. JacktheBrown (talk) 15:15, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As Val told you on your Talk Page, you should discuss the case there with her or another admin. As I'm not you, her or another admin, it puts me in an iffy-enough situation that someone might broadly construe it as "wikilawyering", "sealioning", "dogwhistling" or perhaps several other made-up words that mean I'm a "net negative" or "timesink". As for why "still", you can see by #Your comment on my Talk page that deleting something doesn't make it go away. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:24, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For the record

[edit]

I don't have an opinion on ITN images. Admins should do whatever the community wants on this. And I won't do it until there are clear instructions, unless it says give the admins carte blanche to choose. Good luck. —Bagumba (talk) 04:13, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 • Step One: Determine if the current picture has been up for over 24 hours. If false, do nothing. If true...
 • Step Two: See if the next ITN item has an eligible/proper/suitable/whatever picture. If false, do nothing. If true...
 • Step Three: Replace the current picture (A) with the picture described in Step Two (B), then do anything.

The "next ITN item" is hereby defined as a a blurb or RD item which has been posted the longest without having been pictured. In exceptional cases, then as now, a blurb may be posted. If so, this blurb automatically becomes the "next ITN item". After its picture is shown for 24 hours, an admin should promptly return to Step One.

All admins retain the right to decide what "promptly" means and when.

I know, you're probably going to tell me to take it to a "proper venue" and "seek consensus" instead of just pasting it over the complicated and broken guidelines, "willy-nilly". But the new way is simple to follow and my only immediate recourse is to please to demand you finally admit it, if only to yourself. Pretty-pretty please with a cherry on top, even (if that's what it takes, for now). InedibleHulk (talk) 05:19, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I dont mind helping u wordsmith this, but I'll leave it to someone else if they wish to be bold and update the guidelines directly. See if the next ITN item ...: What if the img is currently from current blurb 2, and blurb 1 was just newly posted? Or img is from RD, but there is a new blurb img avail?—Bagumba (talk) 05:51, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
With respect, I think your Question did more to sandbag/shitcan/whatever the latest proposal than any Oppose might have done. Knowing this, I don't want your help with the words, I just need you to be ready to act. If Blurbimg1 is newly posted and Blurbimg2 hasn't had its day yet, then Blurbimg1 waits. Whether it's the same wait for RDimg to complete, the people haven't spoken yet. I'm leaning Yes. InedibleHulk (talk) 06:09, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing edit summary

[edit]

Hi, it looks like you were making a copyedit here (no objection to the edit) but I'm not sure what you meant by the edit summary, "not cool". (t · c) buidhe 02:39, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The NOBACKREF violation, the useless howevers, the logical quotation mistake, the floaty phrasing and crimes of aggression are all "not cool". Meaning I don't like them. Basically the opposite of your "no objection". InedibleHulk (talk) 02:48, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Seems a bit aggressive tone for an issue that requires minor copyediting at most. (t · c) buidhe 02:56, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Normally I do mark those as minor. Something must have gone wrong, as it must have with those whose minor errors I fixed. I hope I didn't frighten you and am sorry if I did. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:04, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ITN images

[edit]

I'm responding to your question at the since-deleted ERRORS thread. Per WP:ITNA: images are not "approved" by WP:ITN/C in the same way that stories are, because it is often difficult to find a suitable free image for ITN stories. I've got no issue if the community changes that. Until then, it's been standard for game blurbs to picture a major award winner.—Bagumba (talk) 14:11, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And since before ITN was born, it's been known that all material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists, and captions, must be verifiable. The suitable free images at the time included Nasrallah's and Smith's, since their articles were vetted locally. Anyway, it's a fucking confusing job and I've seen you do what you can with it; cheers! InedibleHulk (talk) 05:28, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose if WP:ITNPICT didn't say The picture should be for the uppermost blurb, there'd be less reason for admins to update pictures on their own. But that's was there before my ITN time. —Bagumba (talk) 08:43, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The blurb was never "for" that guy, by my reading. It was a story of teamwork overcoming adversity. Again though, that's why you're the admin and I'm just another cog bound to fail forever in formally closing discussions that reach informal consensus on how to fix your instructions; no apologies ever need be made. InedibleHulk (talk) 08:50, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not an apology. More being matter-of-fact that it seemed to be the de facto practice and not inconsistent with the random rules the community chose to write. I'm just a mopper here. Best. —Bagumba (talk) 08:57, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I meant to mean I know it's not, sorry. WP:V and WP:BLP aren't the random stumbling blocks in this Game of Guidelines, if that's what you're suggesting; one's almost pillar-like. Best in return, regardless! InedibleHulk (talk) 09:05, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A problem I have with your topic ban

[edit]

What’s up, Hulk. I’ve realized something that personally is troubling about your topic ban. When you were initially blocked, it was for a finite period of time, which was a year if my tired grad school mind isn’t mistaken? You eventually lodged an appeal partway through, which brought support from several editors, but admins/arbitrators looking over it were more skeptical and scrutinizing, making your appeal controversial. You ultimately were unblocked, albeit with the condition of being topic banned about American politics. My issue is that it was imposed indefinitely. When you were initially blocked, you weren’t topic banned at that exact point, so if you let the block run its course without appeal, you would have been unblocked without such a restriction in place. That fact makes the indefinite imposition of it troubling on my end. I strongly believe that it should have been only in place until the length of the original block elapsed, as a form of “parole”, so to speak (yes, I know these measures aren’t punitive). I just find that troubling and I needed to rant about it. DrewieStewie (talk) 08:37, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to hear all that. What's personally troubling me is the cold weather. Historically, it should be warmer today. Sometimes, to shake off a block, one just has to take what one's offered. I thought the unstated point of it was mainly to keep me from affecting the elections (which seems fair). After that train has sailed, I think my chances for an appeal might be better. Till then, no serious worries; only more unscrubbable howevers, overused surnames and illogical quotations. Best for you to not worry at all, I wager, rather keep warm and work with what you have! InedibleHulk (talk) 13:45, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the frigid cold. It’s quite the contrary where I am at. Today’s high is 100F/37.8C. Want to trade? I’m sweltering. AC is an expensive luxury too. DrewieStewie (talk) 16:12, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In noon news, the sun came up and my socks are wet. It's miserable, but I'll take it. My own lot, I mean; you got yourself into that puddle, you sink or swim! InedibleHulk (talk) 16:30, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the "Iran" article

[edit]

Hello dear wikipedia administrator mr InedibleHulk

At the top and introdcution part of the article of Iran in English wikipedia, it is written that the country Iran is mostly of ethnic Persian background. this information is wrong and contraditcs the reality of demographics of the country Iran. This edit is recent and not older than 1 year. before that it was written that iran is a multiethnic country. everybody who has knowledge about iranian society and every source which talks about iranian society and demographics, confirm the fact that iran is multiethnic and ethnicities other than persian, make up at least 50 percent, and sometimes even 60 percent of the iranian population. one of the sources which can be seen and relied on, is the entry of iran in the cia factbook of countries here is the source:

4

the reason i contact you because you are an administrator, and i want you to change the phrase "mostly persian ethnic backgroudn" to "mostly multi-ethnic background" because this is exactly the reality of demographics of iran.

in the current version of the article of Iran, the wrong information is exacylt this:

With a mostly Persian-ethnic population of almost 90 million in an area of 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi).

i respectedly and kindly ask you to change this wrong information, and correct it and change mostly persian-ethnic population to mostly multiethnic population. --Historyinsight1 (talk) 15:07, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an administrator and don't trust the CIA when it comes to Iran, but I think any multiethnic country has to have a most common one. Multiethnic isn't an ethnicity itself, so as long as other parts of the article mention all the non-Persians, I don't think it's false and won't change it. It's worth thinking about, though, so thanks! InedibleHulk (talk) 04:19, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the laugh

Thank you for your contributions and humorous edit summaries (1) (2) on Columbus Day. They put a smile on my face. :) — Rosalia 18:32, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't get the first one, but you're welcome! InedibleHulk (talk) 04:20, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh god, excuse me. I dumbly linked the wrong diff. — Rosalia 17:57, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I kind of get that one, which makes it less funny. More of a "rabble, rabble" thing than "rah, rah" (in hindsight). But yeah, different jokes for different folks; have a fine Boss' Day, if that's one you've heard! InedibleHulk (talk) 17:46, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Life experience

About this edit summary: Try putting "baby shower" "ice breaker" into your favorite search engine and see what you get. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:53, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In case you couldn't tell, I'm not a big fan of these mind games, personally. It may not have been a lie, in hindsight, but it was unsourced and slowed the story down. That's bad enough, "professionally". And yes. My favourite search engine is Google. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:42, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In case you couldn't tell, I'm not a big fan of alleging that someone is a liar, especially when a quick trip to a search engine proves that your allegation is mistaken.
I don't necessarily think that claim belongs in the article (or at least not the lead), even with a source, but that kind of edit summary can feel like a personal attack in a way that a quick "WP:CHALLENGED" or "unsourced" wouldn't. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:07, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you're right. I meant it more as a general shout into the darkness than at any one contributor and don't even know who added that part (though this is more a belated explanation than good excuse). From now on, I'll save that kind of unduly harsh talk for truthbenders I know. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:36, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
