Hi RHaworth, I was actually working on this article while you deleted it. I wonder what's the purpose of "in use" template then?.. I think I can simply created again with my new content, correct? In addition, I am having difficulties with uploading the logo for the organization. It can't go to Commons, and it needs to be uploaded locally. How long do I have to wait until I can do it? Thanks, 凰兰时罗 (talk) 19:38, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I have -- thanks. 凰兰时罗 (talk) 21:01, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Rock Eupora article

I was wondering why you deleted my wikipedia post on Rock Eupora. It's my indie rock project and is not in violation with anything. Go to the official website at www.rockeupora.com to find out more. Also, if you google it, you will find that there is plenty of relevant information including press, album reviews, and links to many music platforms including iTunes and Spotify. Thanks, 68.53.61.80 (talk) 22:27, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

IZArc

IZArc is a very good and powerful compression software i have used for many years (roughly a decade). Recently (some time since 2010) malware was added to the installer. I remember the wikipedia article for IZArc not being terrible and was hoping to find out which version added the malware, only to find out you deleted the article. Please also restore the talk page. By the way, the article had 200 revisions, had existed since 2005 and is far from G11. What the hell were you doing? 103.6.156.167 (talk) 09:39, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Albanny Technologies

Good Day Sir, I write in response to an article i wrote titled Albanny Technologies which A tag was placed on and later got deleted, citing section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, i wish to state here that Albanny Technologies has played a pivotal role in today's ICT Development in Nigeria, which has earned the Company's recognition by the Government of Nigeria. i also wish to admit my mistake that i didn't provide much information as regards why the subject is important or significant.in the light of this, i wish to humbly plead to retrieve the deleted material for further improvement and future reference. and also which to tender my unreserved apology for that blunder i committed. i hope and believe that my appeal will be given fair hearing and kind considerations. thanks in Anticipation, Mikebilz (talk) 19:27, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Bizarre history merge

I was scouring through your contribution history and move log when I noticed something very strange. On 28 March, you seem to have history merged a user talk page into the article Snatcher. I suppose you are aware that pages should be histmerged only if they have non-overlapping edit history (WP:PV)? Your action has seriously messed up rev history of Snatcher. With this edit, ClueBot (an anti-vandal bot!) appears to be blanking an article and replacing it with a user warning. Please undo your histmerge. This is just madness. Anyone looking at the edithistory of the article would be left extremely confused. Also, user talk pages aren't supposed to be deleted, or merged into an article!

Per my careful observations, here are the edits which came from the UTP, these should be sent back to where they came from: 2 by ClueBot on 10 February 2010, all 4 by DASHBot, 2 by 207.235.29.182, the talk page owner, 1 by HalfShadow, the second (i.e more recent) edit by TedderBot, 1 by Hammersoft, and the 3 by SD0001.

Notes:

  1. Per this diff and this diff, it is clear that Vlame's edit was to the article, not the UTP.
  2. Per this diff and this diff, it is clear that TJ Spyke's edit was also to the article not the UTP.
  3. TedderBot's first edit was to the article, and the second to the UTP.

Deleting pages

Thanks for deleting Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand, and as you noted I posted the article at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Given I was trying to fix my own mistake, is there a way I could have deleted the page that I had made? — A. Yager (talk) 01:37, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

  • @Ayager:, purists would say that because Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand had been edited by someone else you should have moved it to the new title rather than simply starting a new article. To get rid of any page where all the main edits have been done by you, simply slap {{db-author}} at the top.
Whilst deleting messages from your user talk page is totally within the rules, most established editors prefer to archive them. I recommend the use of Misza Bot - see the top of this page for an example. {{Talk header}} will provide automatic links to your archives. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:34, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Mahbod Moghadam

Deleting the Mahbod Moghadam page was a bad move - obviously he ought to have a wiki page, he is all over the news. the page would have been improved over time, but you simply deleted it. Not a good move. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.106.208.138 (talk) 17:07, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, I keep trying to write a page on the photographer Mark Abrahams, but it keeps getting stuck in limbo/deletion. I saw you were the one to delete it. Can you please help me write a page? • At least you tried! The link is in the wrong format - it should be Draft:Mark Abrahams (Photographer). As to signing in - open this page to edit it. Do you see at the top the words "remember to sign your posts"? Is not what follows those words clear enough? Please reply. I suspect you have a COI and should not be writing about this guy at all but if that is not true …
Please read this about people who their own website to Wikipedia. mvdbase

Hi RHaworth, I noticed you deleted the mvdbase entry I had created. The given reason is "does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject" which I find really odd as I felt its contents gave quite a bit of proof regarding its importance (site age, amount of data covered, etc). Not to mention that there are literally hundreds of pages on wikipedia that have used mvdbase as a reference over the years, as you can see here: Special:Search/Mvdbase. Incidentally, I'm noticing that the IMVDb page is still up, even though it's a younger and less thorough reference than mvdbase, so I'm a bit baffled.

I did see at one point a note requesting to add links to and from the blurb entry and I was planning to work on that but hadn't had time to yet. If you need me to do something specific to make the page more acceptable, just let me know, and I'll do my best ;-) Thanks for your time. Desdenova (talk) 00:24, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

  • I suspect that you are Alex S. Garcia and therefore should not be creating the article. If you actually have no COI: adding links to and from the blurb are OK but they would do absolutely nothing to improve the acceptability of the article. Do the words "independent references" suggest anything to you? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:12, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

The fact that you weren't sure seems to show that I did a good job at making the article impartial ;-) Then again, the fact that you had doubts may also show that I wasn't entirely successful -- though I suspect (my turn!) that your doubts had more to do with my comment here than with the article itself...

In any case, I've always believed that a good wiki article needs to be as objective as possible, so I'll abide by your decision. Thanks for your time, Roger. — Desdenova (talk) 07:38, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Cotyso Studios

Hi there! I work for Cotyso Studios, a recording studios in Manchester England. We are trying to set up a Wikipedia page for our company and we're having a bit of trouble. It seems as though you deleted our article and we are just wondering why? Your reason for deleting our article was "Unambiguous copyright infringement of manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/local-news/sharks-star-sheridan-is-a-prop-idol-90112". This is slightly confusing as the album that the article reports on was entirely recorded here at our studios. In the article itself we used quotes from the article and from the artist but clearly used quotation marks to highlight that these were quotes. Are we doing something wrong? Any advice you could give on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Matt at Cotyso Studios — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cotysostudios (talkcontribs) 17:45, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I don't think the Manchester Evening News or the Daily Telegraph have any COI, so I could support a redirect to Andrew Sheridan at a push. — Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:19, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Hello. I see you deleted Krista Nassi. Her work is exhibited at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art and other places. I think she should at least have a stub, but not if it is going to get deleted shortly after I create it! — Zigzig20s (talk) 18:34, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. It is not my area of expertise, but I will see if I can find good sources. Btw, are you able to redirect Gilbert Collection to Arthur Gilbert (real estate developer) please? I created his page yesterday and only found out about the page on the collection today. Most of it is unreferenced and the biography already has a lot of referenced info about it. Expanding the philanthropy section on Arthur Gilbert's page would be good, but that would take a redirect to avoid redundancies first. Is that something you are able to do please? I've only ever created redirect for pages that don't exist (for example the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation). — Zigzig20s (talk) 23:17, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Draft I had was deleted.

Draft:Heaven Sent Gaming, was it honestly that similar to the old draft? I haven't read the old one, so I don't know. I wrote this one completely on my own, so if it was that similar that's pretty strange. — Candied Mentos (talk) 19:05, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

I hadn't even realized there was that much drama surrounding the subject. Though I'm not interested enough to try again in six months, because I probably won't remember by that time haha, the whole fiasco seems kind of childish. Though, after reading through all of that mess, in the end, I find it silly that Mario's Wikipedia account was banned, seems like he was an innocent bystander. Thanks for explaining, I figured it was notable and long enough for a stub, but I guess not. — Candied Mentos (talk) 20:00, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi

I just joined Wikipedia and my first edit was on the page for Quirky. I know a lot about the company. I wanted to add a new page for Undercurrent. Someone had already done it due to the news that the company was acquired by Quirky. You marked the page for deletion, but I didn't yet have a chance to edit the page more throughly then the last guy to show why the company is significant. Much like Ideo, it is at the forefront of some cool stuff. Plus, I wanted to further build out the Quirky page with this information.

I'd like to create the page again, but wanted to give you a heads up before I did so. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beginningandnoend (talkcontribs) 13:40, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

Hello,

You just deleted Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives citing a copyright concern. You said that this was a copy of NAEC Meeting Minutes, which might be so, but that page is in the public domain.

I am writing to ask for undeletion and an opportunity to respond to the concerns. As the material supposed to be in violation of copyright was in the public domain because of the copyright status of work by the U. S. governmentt, I am wondering if the problem can be addressed in a way other than outright deletion. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:13, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

RHaworth I do not think you are being fair to insult people for trying, which is how I perceive your statement "height of idleness". Obviously a lot of work went into developing this article and I feel it is unkind to dismiss someone's misunderstanding as idleness. I spent hours in person with the creator of this article in a Wikipedia training. Now that I see the article, obviously it has lots of problems. I appreciate your review, and I appreciate your deletion, but it is uncalled for that you using demeaning language to disparage someone's contributions. I cannot even review these things with a person unless I have access to the content and you know that I do not have access because I am not an administrator.

I am grateful that you deleted this, because that is usually the right thing to do when you see a COI. In this case I want the government diverting more educational resources into Wikipedia as opposed to printing them on paper and distributing them in that way, as is traditional. At least in the US government content goes into the public domain and sets a nice precedent and pressure for others to do the same.

I suppose what I wish more than anything else is that volunteer Wikipedians did not have to evaluate COI content. It is a waste of your attention to look at things like this and separate good from bad, and I feel you are a little justified in having a bad attitude even though I do not like it just because I know how troublesome paid editors are.

I have a colleague who is running for a community position in the upcoming Wikimedia Foundation board elections. If you care to see, check Doc James nomination. He has some radical ideas for both policing bad paid editing and increasing good paid editing. While he did not interact with this particular COI editor, they did edit Wikipedia in part because of the campaigning he does that the US government should have their staff contribute productively to Wikipedia. I wish that paid editors acted at the behest of the Wikipedia community, rather than obligating the Wikipedia community to clean up after them. Since you seem to have opinions about this issue I thought I might ask you to consider his campaign. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:19, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

  • @Bluerasberry: apologies for slow reply. What on earth do you mean "I cannot even review"? Do you not see the words "restored to" in my previous message? Only the most muted apologies for "height of idleness". I accept that Bofro1 may well have spent hours but I submit that most of that effort was learning wiki markup, etc. and that effort should be amortised over the hundreds of edits that they will now do. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:09, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Page deletion help

Dear RHaworth,

Forgive me I am not familiar with wiki protocols. You recently deleted a page International center on small hydro power (ICSHP). This was a speedy deletion due to copyright violation discovered by the bots. I'd like to rectify this situation. How can I do this? Everything on the page is basic information about the organization that can be found on the website and which I provided references to. Perhaps I need better refs?

I work for the ICSHP and one option is to release our website content under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 license (mouthful)- this seems a long and drawn out process (especially in this office) so I'm reluctant to do so especially as the licence cannot be revoked". It all seems a bit much for a simple wiki page. Still this is all by the by since the bots seemed to have flagged the copyright infringement out of a post in LinkedIn, (as far as I can tell we posted it!) I'm not sure how I would go about releasing this content under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 license if it is on linkedIn? Or does this simply need to be referenced too?

I'm happy to re-write the page using different content if needs be but for anything to happen I need the page reinstated. Is this possible, please can you explain how to do this? It was a nice page and I was pleased with it. Thanks for your help. TomRennell (talk) 08:25, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Even before I opened the page I was inclined against it because of the bad title - it should have been International Center on Small Hydro Power with a redirect at ICSHP. My standard mantra applies: kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks your organization is notable and writes about it here. Releasing your website under a CC licence is absolutely not a solution. Do you think we need the full turgid list of items in your mission statement? Please read this and search this page for "idleness". — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:09, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi, If you cannot reinstate the page please can you email me the deleted content so I can rework it to an acceptable standard. I know you say you won't if it is a copyright violation, but it isn't a copyright violation, just a misunderstanding. Thanks. TomRennell (talk) 03:14, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

@RHaworth: Hi, Thanks for sending me the original content and I appreciate your comments on the page. Decent or otherwise, the ICSHP not only operates under the UN it is also the first international organisation to exist in China. I looked it up on wiki, there wasn't a page, so I started one because I thought it was a noteworthy organisation. I'm not the first person to start a wiki about the place they work and I'm sure I won't be last, but as far as I am aware there was not an issue about COI only a copyright violation due to some unidentifiable comment on a LinkedIn discussion group. Is it worth pointing out that the page was unfinished as clearly indicated by the newpage marker? Oh I could go on with some turgid defense of myself but I'm pretty sure no-one needs to read that. Instead I have put that energy into re-creating the wiki to a better standard, taking on board your comments. A draft version can be found here: Draft:International Center on Small Hydro Power I'd welcome any thoughts prior to publishing it.

PS Here User:RHaworth#Deleted stuff you say "If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected WP:BLP violation, I will provide the text for you" which would imply if it is a copyright violation you won't provide the text.

PPS Incidentally my name has two 'l's at the end so I did not get your ping. — TomRennell (talk) 07:33, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

  • How long will it take you to learn about wikilinks? Please reply. The whole point of using draft: space is the you do not publish it. You put stuff there to get an independent review. And talking of independence, do the words "significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources" suggest anything to you? I have been taken to task for forcibly submitting articles in draft space so if you think yours is not ready, feel free to replace the submit tag with {{subst:AFC submission/draft new}}.
Thank you for telling me where I said "if it's not a copyright violation …". Clearly my views have changed. I have amended the message. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:13, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

So I'm big on the side of health and fitness that is evidence-based, and a while ago I tried submitting Examine.com and you removed it. I was wondering if it was big enough? Seems to be getting a million visitors a month, utilized by organizations like AND (controlling body for dietitians in the US), etc? Have even been peer-published ... hell, even plagiarized: see this.

Also people like Arya Mitra Sharma and Schuler are members of the organization. Especially since this is here? Nootrobox Thoughts? — ScienceandFitness (talk) 03:13, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Whoops! I should know better, my mistake. In regards to reliable - I think so? Column with all the major Men's fitness magazines (Men's Health, Men's Fitness, Muscle & Fitness), and have been covered or quoted in places like The Guardian, Boston Globe, NYTimes, FastCompany, etc. Eg this by FastCompany: Top 10 innovative in fitness

I'm just tired of seeing all the bs out there on supps, and they are literally *the* goto source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScienceandFitness (talkcontribs) 16:24, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry about that. There's a lot of marketing hyperbole, and a lot of CoIs when it comes to selling supplements. For example, here is Yoni Freedhoff talking about how it's convenient for an MD to be talking about scientific bias when he sells supplements himself (Dr. Yoni has also written for Examine). So Examine is one of the few (other than Natural Standard) which looks at the full body of evidence, and I think warrants inclusion into Wikipedia. — ScienceandFitness (talk) 13:45, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Image deletion - help

Thank you for the comment and recommendation regarding the page File:Cvetkovic NUK – National and University Library.jpg. I provided a file for file talk:Cvetkovic NUK – National and University Library.jpg justifying it by explaining. This licence is the same as in similar cases when artwork is presented at Wikipedia sites, for instance here. You suggest to use Commons but I am afraid that fair use non-free licence is the most appropriate. May I kindly ask you for advice, please. Sasa.presern (talk) 11:17, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Please learn wikilinks. Actually my comment on your talk page was a bit off target - I thought it was a photograph to illustrate an article about the library rather than about the photographer. So why on earth did you upload the image with template:non-commercial from license selector? I admit I cannot see an exactly appropriate option on the upload form but if you upload with any of the valid fair use tags and then immediately change the fair use rationale to something similar to that used in File:Gursky_Shanghai.jpg, it may well stick. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:44, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Turkish International Model United Nations

Dear sir/madame, You have deleted the Turkish International Model United Nations page on 25 November, 2013. I am guessing that your reason for this was that it is a student organization that does not show significance, yet more than 45 schools worldwide participate in TIMUN each year. TIMUN is a THIMUN-affiliated conference (THIMUN is The Hague International Model United Nations and it is directly a body of the United Nations itself) and is a body of Uskudar American Academy which is a private school in Istanbul, Turkey. So would it be possible to have the Wikipedia page again? You can check out TIMUN at our website: http://www.timun.gen.tr Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.232.180.203 (talkcontribs)

Tarbat Discovery Centre page deletion

00:50, 25 April 2015 RHaworth (talk | contribs) deleted page Tarbat Discovery Centre (Multiple reasons: speedy deletion criteria A7, A10. Article: Portmahomack

Dear RHaworth, We would like to request the undeletion of the Tarbat Discovery Centre page. It seems that some of the text from this page has now been merged with Portmahomack but the Centre is very much worthy of it's own page on Wikipedia. The site is a National Monument and the results from the many years of specialist archaeological research are about to be published - references to the research would not be appropriate on the Portmahomack page. We would be more than happy to edit the page and submit additional material to substantiate the importance of the Centre. Kind regards Tarbat Discovery Centre — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarbat Discovery Centre (talkcontribs) 11:37, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Azotti

A COI page but not sure if I should put up a afd or not. Azotti one of the main contributors shares the same name as the real name as this person. It also looks like a possible afd but I'm not 100% sure. — Wgolf (talk) 16:49, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Congrats

Hello RHaworth, How are you? I am back to Wikipedia. First, sorry for my previous carrier.

Sequenza III

When I attempted to provide material for the article Sequenza III, I found the following cryptic instruction. "If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below."

Unfortunately, without having seen the previous article, I can answer neither test. Thus, unsure, I attempted to find the archived information relevant to "2011-01-28T22:21:11 RHaworth (talk | contribs)" without luck. Please clue me in on finding the old article or your discussion that supports deletion. Cross-reference: Luciano Berio and List of compositions by Luciano Berio. • Please learn to put new messages at the bottom and to provide links. There is no need to quote messages verbatim. Are you ready for a shock? You won't see me say this very often: the deletion was wrong! The speedy tag was applied when the article was a 37 byte stub. But by the time I deleted it, it had expanded to have ample context. However it was totally lacking in evidence of notability. (Providing answers.com as a reference was an insult to Wikipedia.) Restored to User:Tgkohn/Sequenza III. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:13, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
Rethink. Turns out to be copyvio from here and other places. Text emailed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:28, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Links by Vectorgraphics to a deleted article

Hello, today you speedy-deleted became predominantly Muslim due to missionary Sufi saints whose dargahs dot the landscape. The "article" seemed to be pointing out that that identical phrase was found in many articles on Indian places. The only other contributions of the editor Vectorgraphics have been to create links to the now-deleted article in about 30 of those articles. Do you think you could remove all these links at one blow - as only admins can - with a polite notice on Vectorgraphics' talk page inviting him to make whatever his point is on some suitable talk page? Thank you, : Noyster (talk), 10:06, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

OK, now handled by Huon and others: Noyster (talk), 19:32, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

EMGXFS

Hello, please tell me, how is it possible to publish my locked text? You write that it is advertising, but its not. This is general information about the company, as well as Coca-cola wrote about themselves. What is needed for the publication of the text? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jekaterina.bogdanova85 (talkcontribs) 09:48, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Neither of the titles under which you published your spam is protected but kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no CoI thinks your company is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:20, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Forever Never (band)

Hi RHaworth, could you please re-instate the page for Forever Never? This was deleted a few years ago but the band are once again active as you can see from their NextBigSound profile. They are also back on the touring circuit and have dates coming up including Isle of Wight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markadams1979 (talkcontribs)

Speedy Deletion of Rescue at Los Banos

Can you please explain why you deleted this page: Rescue at Los Banos: The Most Daring Prison Camp Raid of World War II? Is there anything I can do to avoid deletion? Thanks, RyanZee (talk) 21:01, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

  • The reason for deletion is clearly stated in the deletion log entry. I would also have accepted a speedy tag of {{db-spam}}. Avoiding another deletion is trivially easy: do not repost the article. You will almost certainly get away with a link to the book's blurb in the external links of Raid at Los Baños but do not hope for anything more. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:20, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Ropy licences

Can I write here? Re: File:Deer in Garden of Eden.jpg and File:Adam and Eve in Creation.jpg: I need to explain why two images I uploaded should not be deleted. I own the copyright for each. Why? I took the pictures. Did I get the dates wrong or was it because they are on flickr.com? Please note re flickr publication: I have 3 pseudonyms on flickr from the time when each user was limited to 200 Mb. The names I use are Ernest Denim, Sean Hare and Rafferty Fazakerly! They are all me! —Pangapilot (talk) 03:57, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Firstly. Stop! Stop unloading images with GNU licences here. They should be uploaded to the Commons. There are 287 other Wikipedias that might wish to make use of your images. As to the two I deleted, it is perfectly simple: go to Flickr and change the licence on each image to "Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons". Then upload them to the Commons pointing out that they are on Flickr and what the licence is. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:39, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
